| I know that you all have been taxed past the point of insanity lately, but I have question for you. I'm not expecting a fast answer, so please take your time.
First off, thank you again for all your hard work. You are all to be commended and I very much appreciate the fact that you've kept this board alive. Thanks.
My problem is that the pages are wider than the display on my screen. Is there some change that I need to make in my setting so that when I try to read a fic the type breaks at the edge of the screen?
Any suggestions that you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

| I'm also having trouble with the page width.
When I print out a story to read I'm loosing two and sometimes three words from the end of each line.
I have tried saving it to disk and then printing from there and now I'm having problems with the quotation marks in each sentence. I now get something like '&13fl13:' I know that is supposed to represent the quotation mark.
Is there a way for this to be adjusted on my computer, I'm accessing this site through AOL? Is that part of my problem. I only began having these problems on Sunday.
Not a complaint about the new board, so please don't take it that way, but I'm only having these problems when I try to print out stories from this board. So I was wondering is it possible that there is something in the programming that my computer doesn't like, if you know what I mean.

| A few others have had this problem too. We're not really sure why, because.. well, we're just not. And, we can't replicate it but then again, we're using IE 5.5 and no aol.
Please let us know what web browser you are using (Netscape or IE) so that we can rule that out as the cause of the problem...
thanks!

| I'm in IE 5.0 and the problem exists on every page that I open from the home board page all the way down into story threads. In fact, it's happening on this very page as I post a reply. In case additional info is helpful, if I scroll over to the left margin of a posted story I lose about 5 characters over the left margin. If I don't, then I can see the author's name or feedbacker's info, but I lose considerably more. I'm using MSN and an iBook. Thank you again for attempting to determine the source of the problem.
I have implemented your system defaults for display items by the way. Will that ever be able to be set back to 20 rather than 10? It can make it dicey trying to see all the pages of a thread or to find author updates since I think most of those are calibrated for 20 posts per page.

| I'm using IE.
The one problem I was having with the quotation marks, I think I have fixed that by 'right clicking' on my mouse and changing the 'encoding' to 'user defined' rather than 'western european'. Or at least it seems to be printing all puntuation marks right now.
Still having the other problem though.

| I just wanted to let you know that stories now fit within my screen so whatever you tweaked seemed to make a huge difference. I still have to scroll over to find the post reply icon, but that is a very minor inconvenience.
Thank you so much for your help.

| I've been meaning to pop in for days now to THANK Heidi and Wendy for fixing the page width thing! All the threads I go to now are fine, I can see everything at once without having to scroll around.
Great work, Gals!

| Hi! Please accept my apologies if this is just me---but the page widths are back to being too wide for my screen again. Do I need to adjust some setting on my computer? This is both for viewing and printing.
Many thanks from an avid fanfic reader!

| Hi Heidi, thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Now I'm going to take a stab at the screen question---would 800x600 be a possible correct answer? If not, I would really appreciate receiving instructions as to how to respond properly (admit to being somewhat tech-challenged)!
