Is anyone else having this problem, or is my computer connection being wacky? I can get into every section except the actual Imag. Fic. Board. When I try to access that, the server times out and I get this message:

It's mostly because the board has over 300 people on it right now. Which is a lot. 
One thing you can check is to go into your user options and then "Change your display settings" and make sure you have both threads per page and posts per page set for a max of 10... it normally loads faster and doens't time out then. heidi |

| hey thanks, i was having the same problem but now its working! Oh, and while i'm at it, you might know this already, but i just thought i'd tell you since i just noticed it. The date on the board is off. It's not the 13th, its the 12th.

heidi PS... we know the date is off... we're waiting for traffic on the board to slow down so that we can change it without slowing it way down. Whenever we open the database, we use a lot of the server's resources and the board slows to a crawl. It's 12:49, my time, and the board is so fast i don't know what to do with myself. hehe! |

| I was having the same timing out problems - but not all the time. I figured it was my computer. Then I went in and adjusted the number of threads to be viewed and haven't had a problem since. Thanks so much for the info. You guys are awesome. (Doing the happy Roswell Fanatics Fan Fiction dance here!)

| Well, I'm still having trouble getting onto the board, even with my threads etc. down to a max of 10. I am getting the same time out message I posted above. I realize it's because of the heavy traffic, and it's great that there are so many people on the board, but it's really frustrating not to be able to get in at all. I'm on a dial-up connection at home, and I've just spent half an hour trying to get into the fic section with no success.

Hmm... well if you have been trying today, it could be cause it looks like we got hacked/ got a virus on the server. Which was making for big trouble, giving lots of errors on things that were actually working, plus to fix it we had several things hitting the server that would slow it down big time. I know personally I have been trying to fix the date problem, and everytime I have to mess with the database it slows down the site (sorry, i try to only do that in hours , a ton of people aren't on, but it was an emergency fix.) . Anyways, I understand the frustration , especially with a dail up connection. We have been asking the authors to cut up their story posts into seperate postings rather than one long one. This is help those who are timing out and having trouble. Otherwise I hope that it was just a freak today cause of all the trouble with the server. Please try giving it a day, and then report back if you are still having trouble. THanks. |
