Search Question

In the search area, you can search for a user name in the entire message or the subject line. Is there any way to search in the Author column? I was looking for a particular author's stories, and when I searched I got every story that she had posted a reply to. There were 4 pages of them, and I am not sure which stories are hers and which ones she was posting a reply too. It was not a particular author. All searches are that way.

I tried searching for the title of a story. and I got the following message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e31'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired

/search_results.asp, line 241

Can we only search for authorr?

hi guys,

You know I was just think of you when I saw the new post here. Strange. Anyways, as for the author search, I will be honest. I haven't had time with the hack, virus, and everythign to look into it. My immediate reaction is that unfortunately I don't think we can do a just author search, cause that is the same field in the database as the poster field. What we could do it restrict the entire search so that it only searched in the first post of the thread, which is considered the thread topic. BUt i don't know that I want to do that just yet. Anyways, no that it is on the list and i will look into it soon.

As for time outs, that is other issue all together but you will see them the most on the search cause it hits the server the hardest. All I can say is limit your search by the number of days and the forum if you can, that will give you better results and fewer timeouts. Again this is a important issue that I am looking into right now. It is part of having our own server and trying to optimize it for the board use.

Thanks.
