Re: A History of Roswell Fanfic

I think the main point is that the popular perception of Liz is just a different one then maybe you are seeing. Fiction is a reflection of how people see the canon work and aim to influence and change it. Liz is the first character we come to know and arguably love in Roswell and it is her view whic...

Re: Rosfic and Twilight

That's another thing that goes back to fanfic - In the show Liz was a scientist who dreamed of going to Harvard yet in so many fics she gives up all her dreams to become a teenage mom and wife to Max. It's something that has always irked me about fics because the Liz I know wouldn't have settled fo...

Re: Rosfic and Twilight

This is my problem with Bella - she has no personality, no goals, no aspirations, other than being with Edward and becoming a vampire. The personality thing is important to note as well. I get that she is reserved and "emo" for the most part. I even get that for the most part "most p...

Re: Stranger than fanfiction...fanfic chads.

In about 90 % of all the Candy fics I've read that is AU without aliens. Michael is always a ladies man, but one that only uses women as sex objects until Maria walks into the picture. This happens in lots of AU Dreamer stories too. Where Max is a ladies man and he sleeps with any and everything th...

Re: Rosfic and Twilight

I've only seen the movies so I can't comment on the literary aspect of the books but from what I have gotten from word of mouth about the writing quality it always sounded abysmal. Granted it is all in the point of view of a 15-16 year old girls' dairy entries sort of thing but I was just never move...

Re: Bad Dreamer moments, Tess's Appearances

The whole idea of Tess being programmed to "love" / "like" Max or them having an arranged marriage is complete bull (well somewhat bullish) when you take into account what Brody/Larek reveled in "Off the Menu". I personally don't really care about the pre-programmed ar...

Re: Tess the real dupe?

I do, however, think she's being viewed as a one dimensional character...I think she had reasons for doing what she did, I understand it, I don't know if I would call Tess one-dimensional so much as she didn't make sense. She was poorly crafted and poorly formed even in the best case scenarios. It ...

Re: Tess the real dupe?

Then you really don't understand the impact that an unhealthy childhood has on a person. Mmm. I don't think so. I simply believe that a person is more then just their upbringing otherwise civilization would just be repeating itself continuously with no change or movement forward. A person is more t...

Re: Tess the real dupe?

you can't except someone to be a fully functional member of society if they're kept apart from it. I don't think a year is enough time to fix that kind of damage. I think I could agree with you if I felt that Tess in anyway had hardships interacting with people due to her isolation but she wasn't. ...

Re: Tess the real dupe?

but merely pointing out that Tess had no reason to be loyal to them I disagree. I think she had every right to be loyal to them because they were all under the pretense in that they were in this together. They had accepted Tess into their group and even assimilated her into their clique. It was imp...
