Two words (you poor baby!) -- surge protector. ;)

Awww! I'm gnashing my teeth for another chapter of Confidential! I beg on bended knee that you go to a library or something and get out the word. ;)

I grieve for your data -- I once went to a cool Roswell website and it had some kind of virus that started eating my desktop! I tried anything to crash it, and it still was in vain -- it devoured all my bookmarks!

Years of researching my favorite subjects: fanfic, trad music, Celtic harp, herbal medicine, Chinese and Gaelic languages -- all gone. I actually cried.

I can sympathise, and hope you have hard copy of your hard work to start from. Waiting eagerly for your return.

I know exactly what you mean. A few years back I stupidly let my sister use my computer while I was away. I came back to find it crashed at the hands of a virus. . .
OMG! And I thought I had it bad. Devastating!

I've bought a backup drive recently -- guess I'd better learn how to put it to use, huh? (I'm going to have nightmares, after this!)

I'm so sorry about that part! (Not just for selfish reasons, either.) (Mostly) It must be so frustrating to hammer out a challenging part to a challenging story, and get something you like, only to have it -- poof!

I hope you can get it back from your reader, and at least salvage that much of your labor.

Computer problems are so -- frustrating! We depend on them so much, but I still constantly get the feeling that we are the primitives, embarking on a new age of information. Someday this kind of problem will be obsolete, and people will marvel at how we "primitives" managed to cope with devastations which will be, to them, so easy to prevent!

So think of yourself as a pioneer, Sacajawea, and keep pushing west. ;)

Ugh. The power supply on my comp just died (by itself... natural causes... heh) a couple months ago, and I just got my hard drive back a week or two ago, so I know your pain. :(

Good luck with the comp!
