Hello, everyone! April here. After self-awarding my old author's thread the "Most Disorganized Thing EVER" award, I decided to revamp my author's thread so that it's easier to find everything. Plus, I was really bored. Welcome to my new author's thread, which I promise to maintain and keep orderly. *crosses fingers* No seriously, I promise.

2. About Me

I don't expect anyone to care, but if you want to know something about me, here are the basics. ;)

Real Name: April

Nickname: My friends tend to call me "Spaz." And what's sad is that I respond!

Gender: Female (pretty clearly, since April is about the most feminine name in existence)

Age: 27

Relationship Status: Single.

Location: Nebraska, USA, where all the corn lives

Occupation: Teacher

Hobbies: Writing fanfic, obviously. Also, dancing. Love it so much. Singing . . . when no one's around, of course. ;) Wasting my time on the computer (Youtube is usually my destination.) Reading, though I don't get to do as much of it as I'd like. Television pretty much 24/7. I'm actually one of those people who even SLEEPS with the TV on. Is there a patch for this addiction? Oh, and college football, because . . . honestly, is there anything better?

Breaking Benjamin
The Get Up Kids
Jack's Mannequin
Jimmy Eat World
Justin Timberlake (I saw him in concert! So hot! So good!)

Now onto what the author's thread is really for! The fics!

3. Novels (100+ pages)

Arranged in alphabetical order

(Banner by Sarah, aka: girl afraid)

Title: 521
Category: Ensemble, AU without Aliens, Drama, Romance
Rating: Adult (sexuality, language, and some violence)
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: August 2008 - August 2009
Warnings: Max and Isabel

Summary: Maria DeLuca and Tess Harding are best friends, but the two constantly clash when it comes to Tess's boyfriend, the ruthless and self-absorbed Max Evans. When wild-child Maria moves out of their apartment and in with their responsible, introverted friend Michael Guerin, everything changes.

Author's Opinion: I'll be honest: it's probably the best thing I've ever written (along with its sequel). I know it's the fic that I've enjoyed writing the most. The idea primarily stemmed from my longing to have seen Tess and Maria become friends on the show itself, and it just exploded from there. What I thought was going to be a short, light-hearted fic has turned into something that has exceeded 1,000 pages and, hopefully, has a lot of substance to it. In some ways, I'll admit, it's like a soap opera, but I also think it goes a lot deeper than that.

(Banner by me)

Title: 522
Category: Ensemble, AU without Aliens, Drama, Romance
Rating: Adult (oh so very)
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: August 2009 - July 2013
Warnings: Graphic violence and sexuality, dark subject matter, character death, UC elements

Summary: A year and a half after the last chapter of 521, Santa Fe’s most dramatic, romantic, and problematic people have settled into adulthood. Some have changed; others have not. Some have gotten what they wanted while others have fallen short. At a time in their lives when marriage, children, and careers are their primary concerns, they discover that the only difference between college and the “real world” is that the problems they face are bigger and more intimidating.

Author's Opinion: This is without a doubt the craziest thing I've ever written, due in large part to the fact that I'm writing crazy Isabel. Even though Michael and Maria are the leads of this fic, I would also contend that Isabel is a lead, and that's something I've never done in a novel length-fic before. She's one of the most intense characters I've ever written and was my overall motivation for writing this sequel. This is one wild ride of a story if I do say so myself. If you read it, hang on tight because a lot of things are going to happen that you won't see coming. I hope.

(Banner by me)

Title: Beautiful
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Angst
Rating: Teen/Mature (violence, sexuality, language)
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: 2003-ish
Warnings: Character Death

Summary: Her life was nothing until he made it something. His life was ugly until she made it beautiful.

Author's Opinion: This probably still remains the saddest thing I've ever written. This was kind of my transition fic between bad writing and slightly better writing, and likewise between tamer fics and slightly more mature fics. The idea came from an RPG that my friend Ash started on this very board long ago. I think the RPG was called "Rivalry." I remember reading it, and it was neat. It inspired me to try my hand at my own "gang fic," even though I'm so not gangsta.

(Banner by me)

Title: Crusaders’ Night
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Drama
Rating: Teen/Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: Late 2002-2003-ish
Warnings: Violence, UC for some

Summary: On a completely normal day in the quiet town of Roswell, New Mexico, one young girl is taken hostage. Little does she know that one man will change her world upside down and make her into someone she never thought she would become.

Author's Opinion: I think this is easily the most original plot I've ever done. So yay on me for that. The downside is that it's one of the worst endings I've ever done. If I could go back and re-write this, I would write the ending completely differently. This was only the third fic I ever wrote, though, so I'll cut myself some slack. In all honesty, I owe a lot to this fic. Even though the grammar is horrid in some places, it was really the story that put me on the map, or at least the Candy map. I got inspired for this when I was randomly thinking of an episode of ER I watched when I was, like, still back in diapers. Okay, not diapers, but I was young.

Title: Death of the Oleander (I had a banner for this one, too, but once again, can't find it.)
Category: Michael and Maria, AU With Aliens, Drama
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: I don't know. Must have been 2001-ish.
Warnings: It sucks.

Summary: Michael Guerin, General of Antar, falls in love with his servant Maria. Ooh.

Author's Opinion: JUST DON'T READ IT! I'm only including it on this thread because I feel like I have to. I wrote this when I was SO young and I SO totally didn't know anything about writing. Plus, it's got this whole sci-fi aspect to it that I've since learned I can't write. Sci-fi and April are like oil and water. Un-mixy. So don't read it. Okay? Don't.

Title: Loving the Enemy
Category: M+M, AU With Aliens, Drama
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: Must have been 2000. I was, like, in middle school.
Warnings: It sucks worse than anything else I've EVER written in my ENTIRE life.

Summary: Maria's a Skin (ew!) and she falls for Michael, even though she's supposed to be working with her fellow Skins to kill him.

Author's Opinion: This was my very first attempt at fanfic, and it shows. Again, JUST DON'T READ IT! I'm including it here out of obligation. I wrote this, like, before I even knew how to kiss. It's just so bad. And a fun tidbit: I didn't know what to call it, so I got the title from a Sweet Valley High book. Sweet Valley High, people. If that's any indicator . . .

(Banner by me)

Title: My Romance
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Romance (duh)
Rating: Adult
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: 2005-2006
Warnings: None

Summary: Michael and Maria meet during their senior year of high school and become best friends, but they're reluctant to become anything more.

Author's Opinion: You can read this one. Finally, we're back to the good stuff. Okay, I realize I've played around with the 'best friends' cliché storyline probably more than anyone else over the course of the past four years of my fic-writing, but this is a nice fic if I do say so myself. Not many people read it, but I really enjoyed writing it. The only problem is that there isn't a great place to read it. Electric Candy (the site I linked you to) is an awesome site, but everything that's supposed to be in italics in this fic isn't. I really need to re-upload this fic to CID someday.

(Banner made by singerchic4)

Title: Passion
Category: M+M (with other CC/UC couple explorations), AU Without Aliens, Dramedy
Rating: Adult (lots of sex, kiddies)
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: 2007-2008
Warnings: Lots of explicit UC, very frustrating

Summary: Maria DeLuca is a senior at the University of Santa Fe. She lives with her three best friends in the world, Kyle Valenti, Max Evans, and Michael Guerin. Kyle has two girlfriends. Max has the grades to make valedictorian. And Michael . . . well, Michael has no clue.

Author's Opinion: Oh, here it is. Every fanfic author has a BIG fic eventually, and this was probably mine. Amazingly, it only took me a year to write. I wrote about 3.5 pages per day. It was kind of addictive! The entire idea for this story came from an image I had in my mind of Maria standing in a house with Michael, Kyle, and Max. So weird how that happens. Anyway, this fic generated a lot of heat and debate, mainly because . . . well, because it pissed a lot people off. Michael and Maria are kind of unlikable in this at times, and then at other times, they're more likable. And Max and Liz are disasters, too. This was SO much fun to write, though, and I loved that people got so invested in it. There's not really a cohesive plot. It's very much an exploration of the characters. And it's raunchy. I know there was a lot of call to do a sequel, but it's not happening. I have to end this thing where I did. I really am proud of this one. Really.

(Banner by me)

Title: Someone, Anyone
Category: Michael and Maria, AU Without Aliens, Drama/Romance
Rating: Adult
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: August 2013-December 2014
Warnings: Some explicit UC, dark subject matter at times, lots of sex

Summary: Michael Guerin is going nowhere in life, and he’ll be the first to admit it. As a senior in high school, he should be looking forward to his future, but the future is something he hasn’t given much thought to. Ever the reckless, undisciplined teenager, Michael soon unknowingly finds himself thrust into a new chapter of his life, a chapter in which he’ll have the chance to turn out differently than he or anyone else ever thought he would. But is he ready for the twists and turns life has in store for him? Is he ready to be someone?

Author's Opinion: An idea that hit me out of nowhere and ended up becoming what I believe to be one of my most well-written fics to date. It's very much a character study of an AU Michael Guerin at times, and as for the Michael/Maria relationship . . . well, I just FELT it as I was writing it. Like in my heart and the pit of my stomach. I hope that comes across. There's a very sexual yet sad vibe that permeates this story, mixed in with some humor and plenty of drama. Storylines for all characters, though Michael and Maria are always the focal point.

(Banner by me)

Title: Somewhere, Anywhere
Category: Michael and Maria, AU Without Aliens, Drama/Romance
Rating: So Very ADULT
Status: In Progress
Writing Dates: December 2014-January 2016
Warnings: Language, some explicit UC, dark subject matter at times, LOTS of sex

Summary: Two years have passed since the events of Someone, Anyone. Michael Guerin and his friends, lovers, and enemies are living out a new chapter of their lives in a new town with new faces. But with the past not far behind and the future straight ahead, where will Michael’s life take him? And who will he be when he gets there?

Author's Opinion: The plan with Someone, Anyone was ALWAYS to write a sequel, and I'm so glad I did. I can't believe I wrote it so quickly! I guess that's a testament to just how much I enjoyed these characters and how naturally their stories always developed for me. Once again, Michael is the focal character, and M&M's relationship was something that I just felt in my gut as I was writing it. Expect storylines for all characters again, plus an original character who is probably the most fully-developed original character I've ever written. This is, in many ways, the most dramatic fic I think I've ever produced. The ending is wild, and everything that leads up to it is pretty intense, too, if I do say so myself. Bear in mind that my characters are never meant to be perfect, and these characters are the best example of that.

(Banner by me)

Title: Stimulation (It sounds like a porno, but it's not)
Category: Michael and Maria, AU Without Aliens, Drama
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: 2004-ish
Warnings: It's not Max-friendly.

Summary: Michael Guerin is a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. After an incident of vandalism lands him in police custody, Michael heads to the right side of the tracks, Long Beach, California. There he lives in a lavish mansion with a mother he has never known, an overbearing and famous step-father, and a step-sister named Maria.

Author's Opinion: Okay, step sibling Michael and Maria? Icky, right? No, not so much! I was totally inspired to write this after watching Cruel Intentions. (We all remember that one, right? That was hot.) I was really worried that people were going to get yucked out at the step-sibling storyline, but this actually ended up being one of my more popular fics. I think I was still going through that transitional writing stage, but the writing's not bad considering I was much younger than I am now. I think this fic was probably where I started creating more three-dimensional characters, which is always a good thing.

*Note: My Romance, Passion, 521, 522, Someone, Anyone, and Somewhere, Anywhere all exceed 1,000 pages. Just be in it for the long haul if you plan on reading one of those.

**Note 2: I personally recommend 521, 522, Passion, Someone, Anyone, and Somewhere, Anywhere the most.

4. Shorter Fics and Ficlets (99 pages and under)

Arranged in alphabetical order

(Banner by me)

Title: Absurdity
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Romance
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Dates: Fall 2007
Warnings: None

Summary: Love doesn't have to be a fairy tale to be true love.

Author's Opinion: This is just a little thing, but I have to admit, I sure do like it. This actually came about in an English class during my first year at the university I'm at right now. During my first week, actually. We were doing a free-write in class, and the first couple of lines of this were my free-write. My professor liked it and suggested I expand it, so I expanded it into this little ficlet. Later, I expanded this ficlet into a ten-page short story for my Writing of Fiction class.

(Banner by me)

Title: Accessory
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Angst
Rating: Adult
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Fall 2007
Warnings: Character Death, violence

Summary: Michael becomes an accessory to murder.

Author's Opinion: The first fic I wrote when I got my new computer! Yes! It's, uh . . . it's like a tragedy, though. It's very dark. I got the inspiration from this when I watched a movie called "Cherry Crush," which is not a good movie, but it's not a bad movie, either. And then I heard the song "When Love and Death Embrace" by H.I.M., and that's when the idea turned into an actual fic. Check it out if you're in the mood for not happy things.

Title: Bring Me to Life
Category: M+M, Canon, Drabble
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: I have no clue. 2003?
Warnings: None

Summary: Short Michael POV set after Graduation.

Author's Opinion: It's really nothing. I think I just wrote it for the sake of writing something.

(Banner by me)

Title: Car Crashes
Category: M+M, AU without Aliens, General, Michael's POV
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: January 20, 2010
Warnings: None

Summary: All the major moments in Michael's life involve car crashes.

Author's Opinion: I like this. No need to beat around the bush, I do. This was written for Sarah (girl afraid) who won me at the September 2009 Support Stacie author auction. I wrote it all in one day and really enjoyed it. I had originally intended to write it as a novel-length fic, but I think it works better as a short story.

(Banner by candysteffi)

Title: Cemetery Party
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Angst
Rating: Adult
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Summer 2008
Warnings: Character Death

Summary: He wants to save her, but he never can.

Author's Opinion: Originally I intended to post this as a challenge, but then I decided I wanted me to have it. It's another dark one, folks, and kind of weird. I kind of liked it, though. It reminded me a lot of Accessory as I was writing it, even though they're about two totally different things.

Title: Going Under
Category: M+M, Canon, Drabble
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Date: 2003?
Warnings: None

Summary: Maria POV set after Graduation

Author's Note: Bring Me to Life was a companion drabble to this drabble. Again, I think I only wrote it so I could write something. Nothing spectacular here.

Title: Here Comes the Rain Again
Category: M+M, Canon, Angst
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Spring 2008
Warnings: None

Summary: Written in response to the Season 1 Deleted Scenes challenge at CID. A tag to "Independence Day" in which Michael comes to Maria's window again, this time to say goodbye to her.

Author's Opinion: I still think I suck at Canon, but this fic might be the one time when I've actually pulled it off. I'm pleased with it.

(Banner by me)

Title: In Lust We Trust
Category: Tess and Kyle, Canon
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Summer 2014
Warnings: None

Summary: Set in Season 2, after Tess moves in. Kyle wants her.

Author's Note: Wrote this for the Roswell's Inferno challenge at Roswell Heaven. The challenge was to use one of the seven deadly sins as inspiration for a fic. This one, obviously, is lust. The fic didn't win, but I think the banner did. Go figure.

(Banner by me)

Title: Lazy
Category: M+M, Canon (Season 3)
Rating: Teen/Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: June 12, 2015
Warnings: None. It's fluff.

Summary: Michael reflects on how he likes to pass the time.

Author's Note: Written for the 7 Deadly Sins challenge at Roswell Heaven again. This one was meant to represent the "sloth" sin.

Title: Lie Detector
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Can't remember. I wanna say 2003?
Warnings: None

Summary: Maria always knows when people are lying to her.

Author's Note: This is a weird ficlet. One of the first truly weird ones I ever wrote. Not many people have read it, but those who have read it seem to really like it. I've gotten a great response on it. I actually like it. But it is weird.

Title: Maria's Rant
Category: M+M, Canon (I guess?), Comedy (I think?)
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Summer 2008
Warnings: None

Summary: A short ficlet in response to the ABC challenge at CID. The first sentence has to start with A, the next has to start with B, then the next with C, and so on. You have to run through the alphabet three times. Maria rants about her boyfriend in this.

Author's Opinion: X and Z were super difficult, but this challenge was so fun! And actually, the fic that resulted is kind of cute. I wish more people had done this challenge.

Title: Odiamos, Adoramos
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Drama
Rating: Adult
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Fall 2004
Warnings: Violence

Summary: A chance meeting between Michael and Maria leads to an extremely screwed up but beautiful relationship.

Author's Opinion: I really enjoyed writing this. I have no idea where it came from, though. Sometimes inspiration hits out of nowhere. Oh, wait, I know. I was taking Spanish for the first time in my life, and I liked the way certain words sounded, so I made those words the chapter titles and developed the fic from there. Ignore the note at the end about the fic I had planned. My computer crashed and I lost that fic. All 2,264 pages of it. Sucked.

(Banner by me)

Title: Spirit
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Angst
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Fall 2004
Warnings: Character Death, Sensitive Subject Matter

Summary: Love can go on after life ends.

Author's Opinion: In some ways, this means more to me than anything I've ever written, because I wrote it after an extremely traumatic experience at my own school. School shootings get sensationalized in the media, but there's nothing sensational about actually going through it. (Let it be known, no one died at my school shooting. The gun the kid brought in wasn't even loaded, and I didn't even see it. But it was terrifying nonetheless.) I wrote this fic afterwards, not because I wanted to use school shootings for entertainment, but because I wanted to be able to move on from what had happened. And this helped.

Title: The Outcasts
Category: M+M, AU Without Aliens, Drama
Rating: Teen/Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: 2004?
Warnings: None

Summary: No summary I can think of!

Author's Opinion: This is another weird little ficlet like Lie Detector that not a lot of people have read, but those who have read it have given me very positive responses on it. This ficlet almost got enlarged into a longer novel. But not quite.

(Banner by me)

Title: What They Have
Category: Liz POV, Canon
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing Date: Summer 2014
Warnings: None

Summary: Pre-Season 3, Liz compares her and Max's relationship to Michael and Maria's.

Author's Note: Written for the Roswell’s Inferno challenge at Roswell Heaven. The task is to use one of the seven deadly sins to inspire a piece of writing. This sin is envy. I thought it was too cliché to write a story about how Maria envies Liz and Max, so I thought I’d put a spin on it. It always bothered me that the writers took a smart, strong female lead in Liz and did what they did with her in “Busted.” It just seemed out of character to me. So this is my version of the emotional conflict that built up to her actions in that episode. (Side note: I think this fic actually won for the Envy category.)

(Banner by me)

Title: Why Michael Should Live
Category: M+M, AU or Canon (doesn't matter), Angst
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: No clue. 2005?
Warnings: Sensitive topic

Summary: Maria writes a letter to her boyfriend to keep him from killing himself.

Author's Opinion: I was inspired for this when I saw a poem entitled "Why Ryan Should Live." I didn't actually read the poem (oops,) but the title stuck in my head, and this little ficlet emerged from it.

(Banner by me)

Title: Why Maria Should Live
Category: M+M, AU or Canon, Angst
Rating: Mature
Status: Complete
Writing Date: 2005, I guess
Warnings: Sensitive topic

Summary: Michael writes a letter to his girlfriend to keep her from killing herself.

Author's Opinion: The companion piece to "Why Michael Should Live." Alphabetically, it should be placed before, but it makes more sense to place it here. I'm pleased with the way both these little ficlets turned out.

*Note: I had no idea I had written so many ficlets where somebody dies! My god, I'm so morbid!
**Note: Car Crashes, and Cemetery Party the most, and the 7 Deadly Sins challenge fics the most.

Candy Gratification Awards:

(This was, like, way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.)

(Having 3 fics or less qualified you as "Emerging." I only had written "Loving the Enemy," "Death of the Oleander," and "Crusaders' Night." How I won this award with those three duds is beyond me.)

Fanforum 2008 Music Video Awards:

(Okay, yeah, it's not a fanfic, but I won it, and I'm proud!)

6. Soundtracks

WARNING: Soundtrack details contain some spoilers for fics.

I got very musical with Passion. A few people told me I might as well just compile a Passion soundtrack. So I did. It was kind of nice. I'd love to see other soundtracks to fics, because it really helps expose me to new music. For every story that followed, it just felt right to compile a soundtrack, so most of my biggest fics have soundtracks that accompany them.

The Passion Soundtrack isn't downloadable, but I think you can probably find all of the songs on Youtube.

If you'd like any of the songs, PM me and I'll email them to you. But we should really try to be legal. I buy mp3s from Amazon. They're cheap.

Now that I look at it, two songs made it on both soundtracks. Hmm. Whatev.

All "album art" here was made by me.

Regardless of whether the music appeals to anyone or not . . . I like it. :D

7. Videos/Artwork

Many of you already know that, in addition to writing fics, I spend a lot of time making music videos. I only have Windows Movie Maker. No Sony Vegas or anything like that, so they're usually not that fantastic. But they're fun to make. Most of my videos are Michael and Maria-related, although I do have a few Dreamer, Stargazer, Lamptrimmer, and Rebel vids. (And some Britney Spears vids.) ;)

All my videos can be found on my Youtube channel HERE!

Be sure to watch in high quality by either clicking the HQ button or adding &fmt=18 onto the end of the url. ;)

Youtube is probably going to suspend my account soon. Too many copyrights and all that nonsense.

Since this is an author's thread, I'll give you direct links to my fanfiction trailers.

As for artwork...

I'm still quite a Photoshop novice, and I'm sure all of you can tell. Half the arts I've made are little things I simply made on Photobucket.

You can find my artwork HERE!
(I should warn you that it's very disorganized, but it makes sense to me!)

I'll share a few of my favorite icons I've made.

And that's it! I think this new author's thread is much more organized than my old one. ;)

I'm glad the new organization actually looks organized. I couldn't stand the disorganization of my old one anymore.

Nove, I've never written a Spuffy fanfic. I think I would suck at it. I don't know why, but Roswell is the only fandom that I've ever gotten into fanfic for. I don't even read any other fanfics. Just Roswell

Sarah, I know, My Romance is freakin' LONG! I'm lazy, otherwise I would go through and put everything in italics. Maybe I will next summer when I have no summer classes to take. I'm just happy it's read-able on Electric Candy, though, because the only other place it's posted is CID. And remember when CID moved from ezboard to Yuku and all the quotation marks and apostrophes were lost? You can't read a dialogue heavy fic without those things! So as it appears on Electric Candy, it's just fine. ;) And about that poll . . . yeah, I'm wondering, too. I thought Max and Liz would get, like, two votes at the most!

That's what I was thinking. Either that or there are some dark and messed up people on this board!

Hey, emadaps! My old author's thread was so disgusting. This one is much better if I do say so myself.

You should check out some of the fics here at Fanatics. Lots of really good ones.
