Eva's world - A/N 05/22/14

Authors can start their own thread with all their work here. Many authors also keep their readers informed on when they have updated a fic on their thread here.

Eva's world - A/N 05/22/14

Post by Eva »

1. Introduction

After several demands I made some time to make an author’s thread. I admired April’s well organised thread, so I played a bit copycat. (Hope you don’t mind, April)

For the ones who found my thread here, don’t get your hopes all up: you won’t find a lot of stories on my page at the moment. I only started writing January 2009 but I hope to expand and write more stories in the future.

Contents:

1. Introduction
2. Who am I?
3. Fics
4. Ficlets
5. Soundtracks
6. Awards

2. Who am I?

Real Name: Eva

Born: the 4th of May 1977

Relationship status: married with Pieter since 2005, mom of Aron and Hanne

Location: a village in Belgium (Europe)

Occupation: Social worker (I help unemployed people with another native tongue in their quest to find Dutch language lessons, a professional education or a job in Belgium)

Why did I start writing Roswell fics? Hell, I don’t know.
I saw the show when it aired in Belgium in 2000. I was immediately drawn. After the ending of the 3rd season life went on and the show got a bit forgotten.

In 2008 my husband had a job with very long hours. So in my spare time I started looking up several things on youtube. I quickly rediscovered Roswell, bought all the DVD’s with Ebay and the next step was collecting the matching books.

The first books were available in Dutch but the others never got translated. The Roswell books were the first ones I read in another language. The step to the world of fanfic was very small after that.
And after seeking my way through all the possible websites, I found Roswell Fanatics in the fall of 2008.
In January 2009 I found the courage to write something myself and here I am.

My favourite couple: Michael & Maria, no question about it!

My favourite fanfics:
• ‘Truths about Dating and Mating’ by Fehrbaby
• ‘Full Circle’ by ArchAngel1973
• ‘Out of Darkness’ by DocPaul

-> The list can still change in the future ‘cause at this moment, I haven’t read everything I could lay my hands on.

3. Fics

Incomplete

Image
(Banner made by RosDude)

Title: Incomplete
Category: M/M but the others are there too, AU without Aliens, Drama, Romance, Dealing with emotions
Rating: Teen/Mature (I wasn't sure where it would lead to)
Status: Complete
Writing dates: February 2009 - August 2009

Summary: Michael & Maria are long time friends but haven’t seen each other several years. And then Michael has a motor accident…

Author's opinion: This story got stuck in my head for over ten years. I started writing it in 2008 but I got completely jammed after the sixth chapter. After I converted the setting to Roswell, New Mexico, I found a new drive.
A lot of people say I found a really original topic for this fic. I wasn't aware of that untill I started posting it. I do know this: It's a great story to discover (if I may say that) if you're open-minded to handicaps.

Twined Roads

Image

Title: Twined Roads
Category: CC but strongly M&M, AU with Aliens, Drama, Romance
Rating: Mature/Adult -> I don’t know where this story is going to take me. So I want to leave all options open.
Status: WIP, updates can be expected in the course of September
Writing dates: August 2009 - present

Summary: Summary: One moment will change the lives of eight people and one child. It will get them twined like never before. Based on a challenge by Killjoy, after which it started to live a life on its own.

4. Ficlets

Title: Feels Like Home To Me
Category: M/M , AU without Aliens, Romance
Rating: Teen/Mature (I wasn't sure)
Status: Complete
Writing dates: January 2009

Summary: The scene happened directly after the departure of Tess (season 2, last episode). Michael and Maria return to his appartement and ... You can just read the rest yourself.

Author's opinion: I wrote this without beta-reader and even I can see some mistakes I made typing it all out. It was my first try to write a fanfic.

Title: Dad
Category: M/M , AU without Aliens,
Rating: Teen
Status: Complete
Writing dates: October 2010

Summary: : Michael meets his premature son for the first time.

Though this ficlet isn’t autobiographical, the topic is indeed ripped out of my own life. I just wondered how Michael would’ve reacted and suddenly I started writing.

5. Soundtracks

‘Incomplete’ has a soundtrack of its own. I found it important to start every chapter with a meaningful piece of lyrics. At the end of the novel, you’ll notice that those lyrics will have an extra intent to the story too.

Incomplete soundtrack

1. ‘Perfect’ by Smashing Pumpkins
2. ‘Alive’ by Pearl Jam
3. ‘Come As You Are’ by Nirvana
4. ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica
5. ‘Feels Like Home’ by Chantal Kreviazuk
6. ‘They Stood Up For Love’ by Live
7. ‘Almost happy’ by K’s Choice
8. ‘Creep’ by Radiohead
9. ‘Silent reproach’ by Arid
10. ‘Night and Day’ by Tom Helsen
11. ‘You Don’t Know’ by Milow
12. ‘Perfect Day’ by Lou Reed
13. ‘Everything and More’ by Krezip
14. ‘My friend’ by Anouk
15. ‘4 Million Minutes’ by Zornik
16. ‘Times like These’ by Foo Fighters
17. ‘Feeling Good’ by Muse
18. ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ by Novastar
19. ‘Alive’ by P.O.D.
20. ‘A message’ by Coldplay
21. ‘I don’t want to be’ by Gavin Degraw

To listen to the soundtrack, you can click here.

Do mind I couldn’t find the right version of Tom Helsen’s ‘Night and Day’. So it’s the techno version I actually dislike but I’ll try to change it later on.

Twined Roads soundtrack
1. 'Creep' by Radiohead
2. 'Under the bridge' by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
3. ‘Smells like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana
4. 'Song 2' by Blur
5. 'I shall believe' by Sheryl Crow
6. 'I alone' by Anouk and Sara Bettens
7. 'Kiss me' by Sixpence none the richer
8. 'Use Somebody' by Kings of Leon

Yeah, I had something in mind and Steffi did a great job with it!

April, I have the link but do you really wanna know where this fic is heading? If you're sure you want it, send me a PM. 'Cause I'm not going to put it on the board. It's going to spoil a little too much, you know.

First of all I want to apologize to everyone who was waiting for my next fic. I'm afraid I'm going to have to postpone the posting of it.

Due to the fact I'm in some sort of rescue mission to save the life of our unborn baby, I'm lying down almost all day long. I'm hoping to stay this way for at least another four weeks. If possible even longer.
But this flat-on-the-couch position makes it almost impossible to read and write. So I still try to read some fics and post (small) replies but for longer parts of text, it's a bit too tiring and uncomfortable this way.

Greetz,

Thanks, Leila!

After a pregnancy of 28 weeks 5 days I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

Aron was born the 14th October. At that moment he weighed 2.6 lbs (1,200 kilogram) and he was 14.6 inches (37 cm) high. But though he's very tiny, he's doing great.
Aron will be staying at the hospital for several weeks untill he can make it on his own. In the mean time I'll be travelling back and forth between my home and the hospital.

You'll see me (and my fic) back when everything calms down.
