Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel Compare Dating Nightmares
By Paul Chi

Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl

Talk about a bad date: Before she married singer Josh Kelley nearly three years ago, Katherine Heigl says she endured a string of nightmare encounters that still makes her cringe. Meanwhile, dating just plain scared her screen costar, Josh Duhamel.

Speaking at Saturday's press conference in New York for their romantic comedy opening Oct. 8, Life As We Know It, the Grey's Anatomy Emmy winner, 31, says her worst date was with her personal trainer, when she was 18.

"I was like, 20 lbs. heavier and trying real hard to work it off at the gym and my trainer asked me out," the actress recalled. "He took me to Sizzler and gave me his head shot and asked me if I could get him in my agency. I knew it wasn't the extra 20 lbs. that turned him on!"

The topper, said Heigl, was that the trainer shaved his legs – though that wasn't a deal breaker compared to being used for her agency contacts.

Heigl then played reporter with Duhamel, and asked about his disastrous dates.

"I've had plenty of awkward moments, but I've always been in relationships for a long time," said the Transformers star, 37. "Dating always scared the crap out of me. For that reason I couldn't really date."

So, how did he end up marrying – in January 2009 – Fergie?

Played It Safe
"I had to make very sure that I wanted to date this person. I would do a complete recon. So, I made sure that I wanted to be with them before I actually started dating," he said – prompting Heigl to respond with a boisterous laugh: "That's so interesting and weird."

Said Duhamel, "You know, when you really feel it, you just don't want to say, 'Well, I might like her, or I guess I'll date her.' "

Heigl then inquired, "So, you've never met anybody at a bar and went out on a dinner date the next night and had a terrible time? That never happened to you?"

"Well," he said, "I'm sure it did."

How Katherine Heigl Is Quitting Smoking

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley

Katherine Heigl is finally letting go of her biggest bad habit.

To set a good example for her 20 month-old daughter, Naleigh, she is going to quit smoking. But the process hasn't been easy – so she's resorting to interesting ways of curbing her cravings.

"Now I use an electronic cigarette. I know it's ridiculous, but it's helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes," the actress tells Parade.com. "I've been doing it for six months. Smoking sucks!"

She adds: "The one thing I would say to my kid is, 'It's not just that it's bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn't even really give you a good buzz?' "

Heigl, 31, is also coping with another sensitive topic: kissing men that aren't her husband of almost three years, Josh Kelley, 30. As a romantic comedy darling, Heigl has had her fair share of onscreen lip locks, which makes Kelley a bit uneasy. "He and Josh Duhamel are good friends, but he would never come to the set when Josh and had to like kiss or make out. It does make him uncomfortable because he's not an actor, he's a musician," Heigl says of her husband and her Life As We Know It costar.

Heigl wouldn't be as squeamish if Kelley had a kissing scene, but on one condition. "He always says to me, 'How would you feel if I had to make out with some girl in a video?' And I'm like, 'If you have to do it, you have to do it, " she says adding, "but I wouldn't want you to come home and tell me what a great kisser she is and I should try her technique.' "

Sounds like all's fair in their house!

Katherine is promoting her new movie 'Life As We Know It' which opens this weekend, therefore this is from E! online:

Katherine Heigl Admits She Has an "Image Problem"

Today 1:00 PM PDT by Ted Casablanca and Taryn Ryder

While ungrateful is a word often linked with Katherine Heigl here in Hollywood (tho we do want to give her props for her fab work with animals), the Life As We Know It star addressed her "image problem" this morning—at least, that's what the New York Times called it.

"Yeah, I think that was fair," Katherine fessed about the article's assessment that she hasn't been her own best spokeswoman.

"It's something I've spent a lot of time in the last year or so really thinking about or really trying to figure out, because, obviously, my career is important to me, and I'm really passionate about trying to keep it."

Wow, a star being honest about herself in Hollywood? We can totally get on board with this!

"I don't want to be the person digging my own grave or put myself out there in any way that would sort of hinder this great thing I've got going," Heigl said on L.A.'s KTLA morning show, noting she is very "grateful."

"I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out where I kind of went off track and how and why and what I can do in the future to avoid that.

"The reality is, as he says in that article, nothing I said was particularly scandalous. It just had a tone," the movie babe said. "That's the most important thing I've learned as I get older...I can let go of the tone.

"I'll say what I gotta say and be honest, but maybe not so edgy."

Now this is a Heigl we can dig. We hearted the babe for standing up so vocally for pal T.R. Knight back during Isaiahgate, but unfortunately her good heart was trumped by her big mouth in a lot of situations.

We thought the interview sounded genuine. Hey, at least she acknowledged it. Most celebs would have either walked off the set or become defensive. Just don't lose all of that tone, K. We still like a little sass, sans diva.

I read this over at E! online:

2. Katherine Heigl Is Underrated! Remember when the actress detonated "her first bomb?" Or when her "image problem" threatened her latest romantic comedy? Well, two funny things happened: Both of Heigl's 2010 movies made good. The $75 million Killers grossed $93 million worldwide, while Life As We Know It, the real success story, took in nearly the same—off a $35 million budget.

Katherine Heigl Shows Off New Short Haircut

Katherine Heigl has always been a master of the quick color change — she’s gone from blond to brunette and back again more times than we can count. But the actress took her style up a notch yesterday while out in Los Angeles (in a Cushnie et Ochs Wall Street dress), debuting a super-short platinum do (could it be inspired by Kate Winslet?). Heigl has long been married to her somewhat lengthy locks — regardless of the color, she’s sported shoulder-length or longer hair for some time. So to see her snip it off is a surprise, to say the least! Tell us: What do you think of Heigl’s new look? –Kate Hogan

Katherine Heigl to produce, star in HBO movie

News By Lesley Goldberg Lesley Goldberg – Fri Apr 8, 2:49 pm ET
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Katherine Heigl is returning to television -- with an HBO telefilm.

The former "Grey's Anatomy" actress-turned-big screen leading lady will produce and star in Craig Wright's adaptation of "The Knitting Circle," HBO Films confirmed Friday.

Based on the best-seller from Ann Hood, "Knitting Circle" revolves around a married woman (Heigl) struggling to overcome the death of her young daughter who finds solace in a knitting circle.

Heigl will produce the telepic with her mother and producing partner, Nancy Heigl, via their Abishag banner along with Pine Street Pictures.

Her recent credits include the feature "Life As We Know It," which she starred in and executive produced. She'll next be seen in New Line's ensemble "New Year's Eve," due December 9.

Wright ("United States of Tara") got his start at HBO as a story editor, writer and producer on HBO's "Six Feet Under," for which he earned an Emmy writing nomination. He was also part of the writing staff of ABC's best drama series "Lost."
