just had to post this one...

Will You Be There
----------------------------
Hold me
Like the river jordan
And I will then say to thee
You are my friend

Carry me
Like you are my brother
Love me like a mother
Will you be there?

Weary
Tell me will you hold me
When wrong, will you skold me
When lost will you find me?

But they told me
A man should be faithful
And walk when not able
And fight till the end
But Im only human

Everyones taking control of me
Seems that the worlds
Got a role for me
Im so confused
Will you show to me
Youll be there for me
And care enough to bear me

(lead me)
(lay your head lowly)
(softly then boldly)
(carry me there)

(hold me)
(love me and feed me)
(kiss me and free me)
(I will feel blessed)

(carry)
(carry me boldly)
(lift me up slowly)
(carry me there)

(save me)
(heal me and bathe me)
(softly you say to me)
(I will be there)

(lift me)
(lift me up slowly)
(carry me boldly)
(show me you care)

(hold me)
(lay your head lowly)
(softly then boldly)
(carry me there)

(need me)
(love me and feed me)
(kiss me and free me)
(I will feel blessed)

(spoken)
In our darkest hour
In my deepest despair
Will you still care?
Will you be there?
In my trials
And my tripulations
Through our doubts
And frustrations
In my violence
In my turbulence
Through my fear
And my confessions
In my anguish and my pain
Through my joy and my sorrow
In the promise of another tomorrow
Ill never let you part
For youre always in my heart.

:D

Oh it's sad that he's passed away! Ping thanks for creating this thread, I was a fan of his songs too.

1. Thriller
2. Beat it
3. They don't really care about us
4. Smooth Criminal
5. Billie Jean

OOoh I have so many!

6. Man in the mirror (Ping I love that one too!)
7. Black or White
8. BAD
9. Don't stop till you get enough
10.You Rock My World

Those are the only ones I can think of from the of my head right now. He was really the king of pop. RIP MJ.

I don't think I can name just 5 songs, because different songs have different meanings/memories for me, so I'm going to list them all instead :):

- Blame It on the Boogie (I danced to this at a Beaver/Cub Scout disco when I was a kid - about 1990/91, I think)
- Heal The World (we sang this as a group at Brownie Guides when I was about 7 or 8 )
- Jam (I learned a jazz dance to this song when I was 8 years old)
- The Way You Make Me Feel/Farewell, My Summer Love (I used to make up dances to these in my living room when I was about 8 or 9)
- Dangerous/Who Is It/Remember the Time/In The Closet/Why You Wanna Trip On Me... actually the whole Dangerous album (I was obsessed with it when I was about 9 years old!)
- Will You Be There (the song at the end of Free Willy!... I went to see it at the cinema when it came out in 1993)
- Black Or White (I danced to this in my ballet school show when I was 11)
- You Are Not Alone (reminds me of the first time I visited the US (that I remember - I was only a baby the first time) - this song came out around the same time)
- The Girl Is Mine (reminds me of being at university)
- Man In The Mirror (the guy living next door to me in my first year of uni was obsessed with this song)
- Beat It (the song we danced to in the Dance Society Cheerleading squad in my second year of university)

Yeah, okay, I can't even try to narrow it down to 5, so I'm going to have to go with 10. And it's really hard to order them, too, but I'll try.

1. You Rock My World - My favorite dance team dance I've ever done was to this song. I just love it.
2. Smooth Chriminal - Okay, who doesn't love this song? It's fantastic!
3. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) - I feel like this is one of his most underrated songs ever. I love the beat!
4. Give In To Me - Definitely one of his sexier songs. Plus, I love Slash on guitar? Can't go wrong with that.
5. Dirty Diana - I just love it. It's always been a musical addiction of mine.
6. Billie Jean - The first MJ song I truly ever fell in love with. And it never gets old.
7. Thriller - Really, what can you say about Thriller that hasn't already been said? Epic song, dancing, and music video.
8. Ghost - I wasn't sure if this song would appear on my list, but I love the background of it so much!
9. Bad - The freakin' first dance I ever performed on a dance team was to this song. And I was so not bad! lol
10. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - So addictive. It gets stuck in my head after I hear it.

This guy was a musical GENIUS and such an inspiration to me as a dancer. Regardless of the controversy that surrounded him in later years, I'm really going to miss him.

I can't even narrow it to ten. I am a huge music snob but MJ is one of those artists that transcends genres and barriers.

Billie Jean (you can't beat a song with a killer bass line, sorry)
Smooth Criminal
Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
Rock With You
Beat It
Human Nature
PYT
Give In To Me
Remember The Time
The Way You Make Me Feel
Man In The Mirror
Thriller
I'll Be There (technically Jackson 5)
Who's Lovin' You (ditto)
Scream
Will You Be There
Dirty Diana

I'm just going to put it out there that I believe that MJ was 100% innocent of the charges against him. It really tears me up that this guy was treated so badly his whole life when he was such a talented, giving and kind hearted person. Oh and fuck you, Joe Jackson. MJ is heaven now but you're getting a one way express ticket to hell when you die!
it's better to rise than fade away.

I'm so glad someone started this thread. Michael was The Greatest Entertainer of ALL Time and he will be missed.

I agree 100%. I find it hard to believe that a parent would put a price on their child's innocence.

Here's my list in no particular order. Just like everyone else, I couldn't stop at five. Some songs are by the Jacksons

She’s out of my life
Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough
Who’s Loving You
Lady In My Life
Remember the Time
Billie Jean
Human Nature
Beat It
PYT
This Place Hotel - Heart Break Hotel
Never Can Say Goodbye
Got to Be There
Smooth Criminal
In the Closet
Can’t Let Her Get Away
Who Is It
You Rock My World
Butterflies
Rock With You
Dirty Diana
Stranger in Moscow
Team Framing Hanley
