One Song Everyday - BONUS ALBUM: (Hotel Cabana)

Post by Helen of Roswell »

Earth2Mama wrote:I've always loved Carly's Song. Such a haunting melody.
.

Earth2Mama, what a fitting description - 'a haunting melody.'

Indeed, it is.

I know this thread is titled ‘one song everyday,’ and I’ve posted more than one track
at a time (when it comes to music, one is never enough for me), but…

I’ve become quite enamoured of this next album – Hotel Cabana.

I’ve 'checked in,' and I don’t think I’ll be leaving.

Can’t seem to help it, I’ve been captured!

The compilation of tracks are NOT just songs, they’ve
become somewhat of an experience for me.

At times, there’s a sense of descending into the ‘Underworld,’
listening to some of these lyrics. Which is ironic because I’ve
come on and posted this right after Halloween, and just in
time for Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Anyhoo…

I’m feelin’ all the tracks on this album. I mean ALL of them -

New tracks, cover songs... even the intros.

I personally think the entire album is noteworthy, and should
be considered as a whole, so I’ll be linking a site where you
can visit Hotel Cabana and sample at your leisure.

I hope that’s okay.

The man behind this album, Naughty Boy, is rising
and, I see, he flies well with others.

Enjoy!

(Oh, track 5... ''Think About It'... f-bomb alert.

And, if you listen to the complete version
somewhere, n-bomb alert too.)

Re: One Song Everyday - BONUS MEDLEY: PTX

Post by Helen of Roswell »

I don’t know who these people are, but...

I’ve just been visually and auditorily (Is that a proper word?) stimulated by their MV.

Just came by them, because their video was available as
a YouTube promoted option. It was the girl’s cotton candy
blue hair and glittered face in the thumbnail that got me
curious; that and the fact that Daft Punk was in the title.

They’re good! And whoever came up with
the concept for the video knew how to catch
the attention of the human eye.

It’s going to take a moment for my mind
to stop racing, before I can go to bed.

Daft Punk have actually been around for about 20 years - they are a French electro-dance duo, who most recently had a number 2 hit in the US with Get Lucky (featuring Pharrell Williams) and their latest album reached number 1 on the US Billboard chart in May 2013. In fact, Get Lucky is playing on the radio as I type this :P.

Some of their other well-known singles are Da Funk (1995), Around the World (1997), One More Time (2000) and Lose Yourself to Dance (2013 - also featuring Pharrell Williams), all of which reached number 1 on the US Billboard Dance Chart.

Hi Heavenli24 :D

I definitely know of Daft Punk! I grew up listening to them.
In fact, Around the World is the first one I remember.

However, it was the band/group in the video I was NOT familiar with.
I know a bit more about them now, than I did at the time of posting.

Thanks for taking the time to explain though.

Okay, so this next artist is… indescribable…

He marches to the beat of his own drum.

In this track, he's...

Expressive.

Confrontational.

Fearless.

He knows how to draw you into his world.

And he certainly keeps shit real.

Just brilliant!

Now, the song is in French, but I've placed
a link for an English translation.

He's Belgian and therefore is superb too!! 8)

We can be proud on a fellow-countryman, can't we? But I have to say I liked some of his other songs better.

Something for today... An oldie from my teens: Praga Khan with 'Breakfast in Vegas', also Belgian by the way!

I've had Waltz #2 by Elliott Smith in my head all day.

Such an addictive tune, lol :P

Daughter's Youth has been stuck in my head for, like, a week now.

Love, love this song, even though it's absolutely heartbreaking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEpMj-tqixs

Hey Eva! :D

Stromae definitely has plenty of great ones.

I chose Papaoutai, because... well... at the time,
my own father was on my mind.

We NO longer live in the same country, and
now have thousands of miles between us.

Anyhoo... I think a little patriotism (NO matter where you
are from, and as long as it's healthy) can be good.

Hi Helena!

I'm so glad you chose to pop-up at the music spot. :D

I've heard this song before, but I did NOT know who
sang it. Thanks to you, I finally found out!

It's a sad one, but I still enjoy it.

I can have this on repeat... easy.

In fact, I did. About five times!

OMG... ERIN ! ! !

It's so nice to see you here, too!

Long time, huh?

It seems the theme lately is melancholy.

This track is sad, too, but I can honestly listen to it for days.

I so hope the two of you return with some
more tracks to share.

This will sound silly, but... it almost feels like friends visiting,
with the two of you, and Eva posting, back-to-back.
