In honour of Majandra's Birthday. (I'm sure you all know she SINGS! :D )
And just because it's Majandra... AND it's her b-day... she gets NOT
one, but TWO SONGS!

THE PLACES YOU'LL GO

These lonely games you're playing
NOT particularly well
It's impossible to win
When you play against yourself
Don't stumble through the hard parts
Especially don't look back
Just keep your focus fixed,
'Cause life is one big balancing act
So instead, I stare straight ahead

SIT AND WAIT

So, I sit and wait
On this crowded freeway
But what can I say?
I did things my own way
And don't regret a single day.

I realize I've developed a theme here:
Songs dealing with - Weddings, Marriage.

The first was a happy one with multiple weddings.

The second was about a woman who did NOT want to marry.

Now, it's about a man who WANTS to marry the woman he loves,
but is too late, 'cause another guy beats him to it!

Once I chose this track, it occurred to me that, I did it again! :P
Now I'm wondering if something's bubbling up in my subconscious??

Nonetheless, hope you enjoy!

(Note: The song is (almost) entirely in Korean, but this link's vid has English subs.)

Country: South Korea

Language: Korean ( with smatterings of English)

Okay... so the last track was depressing. This one is too, but at least
there's a tiny bit of hope at the end. A new hope. I figured, I might
as well continue with this pattern I've got going here.

(NOTE: Now, I do NOT have an English translation
of the lyrics, but below is a synopsis.)

Poor boy loves girl. Girl refuses poor boy, and follows her ambitions and marries wealthy man.
Poor boy is torn by her rejection, because he knows her only decision in doing so is because, he
is poor, and lives in the ghetto. He is heartbroken, and then, after some time, he learns that she
bears her husband's child, (the final straw) which, in turn, hurts his wounded heart even more,
making him wish he could disappear to a far away place. But despite his pain, he learns to move
on (just as she has) and slowly begins to heal, and let go.

(It'll be made obvious, once you view the MV.)

I hope the language barrier does NOT keep anyone
from checking out the track, and enjoying the song.

After all, do you really need to understand
what's being said, in order to enjoy music? :D

Oh, one more thing. As for the title, Mbagala is a town in Tanzania
where the very impoverished live. It is basically the slums.

Country: Tanzania (East Africa)

Language: Kiswahili/Swahili

Like Vanessa Carlton, this is another artist I highly respect.

This gal has been self-promoting her music, and herself, from day one.

She could have easily reached a certain status in the music industry,
had she said 'yes' to NOT being who she is, and chosen to take on
the facade record labels were trying to sell her.

It's quite refreshing to come across a young musician who
is creatively true to her art, and is sensible enough NOT
to be lured into the 'glamour' of the music biz.

She definitely has a good head firmly planted on her shoulders.

(You guys, the MV is under 3 1/2 minutes, but it took
over a year to film, and almost two years to complete!

For a music video! A music video! Damn, talk about dedication.)

Wow, Helen, you have great taste in music! And I'm a self-professed music snob, so I don't say that lightly! I love that "Polish Girl" song you recommended. Trippy, just the way I like 'em.

I don't remember if I've suggested this one before, but it's probably my favorite song from 2011. And I don't even normally like rap.

S E L F ... L O V E

Her voice - love it!

Hearing her acapella or live... there's such power behind it.
And her personality... her stage presence... absolutely dynamic!

I really get the sense that what you see is what you get with her.
(NOT presuming that I know her know her... because I do NOT.)

But she strongly comes through as GENUINE.

NO alter ego.

NO gimmicks.

Just HER in her lyrics.

WHO YOU ARE by JESSIE J

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing

It's okay NOT to be okay.

Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
But tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising

There's nothing wrong with who you are!

(Oh, small confession - Grrl C.R.U.S.H. )

Thanks! I love it, too! Totally a REPLAY song.

I can see why you chose "Words I Never Said."
It's a "Wake the hell up and open your eyes" track.

I like it, too. It's NOT just music for entertainment
purposes, it has a real message. Especially love -

I think that all the SILENCE
IS
worse than all the VIOLENCE

...

I'm locked inside A CELL IN ME
I know that there's A JAIL IN YOU
Consider this YOUR BAILING OUT

So take a breath, inhale a few

My screams is FINALLY GETTING THROUGH
My thoughts is FINALLY YELLING THROUGH

It is good to be reminded... we are NOT as free as we have led ourselves to believe we are.

TRACKS 17, 18 & 19! So you like 'em trippy? :)

Here's a trippy one for ya, April. ;)

Three actually. I'm so excited to share this.
I'm seriously getting giddy about it!

I came across this band purely by accident, last fall.
I was checking stuff out on wolves (you know about
my thing for them :D ).

Anyhoo... after some clicks here and there, I came upon
one of their tracks and went bananas on the spot!

(I had NOT realized that it was a music vid, prior to entering.)

Checked out what else was out there and instantly loved these
following tracks. Now, I do NOT get high (never have) but after
watching this FIRST vid I am convinced I soared a bit.

Music, if designed a certain way, I guess can do that.

I think the simultaneous visual and auditory stimulation did something to me!

(WARNING: Though the music itself is trippy, and nothing
else, the moving pictures that accompany the FIRST track
can be considered detrimental to a person's mental state
after viewing the video. I did NOT suffer mentally, in the
least bit, but than again, I am a disturbed individual who
often enjoys, and is NOT phased by, disturbing images. :P

One Word: ORGASMIC!!!!

I swear, it's a total MIND F*CK! This next one
is my top favourite out of all of them.

The videos are just so weird that they're creepy, but I love that Karma song! Thanks for introducing me to it.
