Title: Bonding Through Fear
Disclaimer:The characters of "Roswell" belong to Jason Katims, Melinda Metz, WB, and UPN. They are not mine. If I did, Zan wouldn't have died. It would have been a good day. I do own Seki... I don't know why that scares me on multi levels.
Pairing: Zan/Liz
Rating: Teen
Summary: Zan gets the scare of his life. Seki proves he isn't just a pretty face.
Author's Note: This was going to be posted the day RF went down. Thank you to all my fans!! This is my Hundredth Post!! YAY!!! Thank you to all my betas; Burningchaos, KiaraAlexisKlay and Vampyrolover86.
The fics before this one are The Marrying Kind, Who Says Romance Is Dead?, Transmogrification and Spaceman Spiff, Drinking Thinking, This Is Why Parties Have Strippers, It's A Nice Day for A White Wedding, Married Life is Just Another Word for Sexual Frustration, The Changing Shape of Alien Sex and Dirty Little Secret with the side note of Kyle/Ava's adventure Good Things Come in Twos.

Zan ran into the apartment, to find Seki shaking. His eyes seemed to be staring off into nothing, one hand holding his wrist.

“What happ’ned?” The look on Seki’s face scared Zan deeper than anything.

“You didn’t tell me that she had powers too.” Seki’s voice deadened of the natural enthusiasm that seemed to permeate all his words.

“She has control of dem.” Zan breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought something had happened to Liz and baby. It scared him within an inch of his life.

“Not now she doesn’t!” Seki’s head whipped around to stare Zan down. “She didn’t know it either. She thought she had it under control.”

“Whaz happ’ned?” Zan felt shook to his core.

“She had an incident at school. Thankfully, everyone just thought she fainted. I’m trying to heal myself.” Seki lifted his hand from his wrist to show blackened skin. “I was able to draw it from her before she caused permanent damage to the baby or her. She isn’t able to control it. She was crying in pain. I wasn’t able to save her from all the damage…”

Zan dragged Seki to his feet, his hands balled in Seki’s shirt. “Where is she?” Zan gritted his teeth as he practically spit the words at him.

“The bedroom, she’s asleep.” Seki called from the floor as Zan dropped him and raced to get to his wife.

Zan’s eyes adjusted to the dim light from the closed shades. He could feel his heart drop as he stared at Liz. There were dark circles that weren’t under her eyes that morning when she had left for school. Her skin seemed pale and seemed translucent in places. He staggered over to the bed, dropping to his knees. His hand found hers, as he held it like a drowning man to a life preserver.

“You’s never know how much you’s mean ta me.” Zan whispered, as his other hand stroked her ever-growing stomach.

A groan erupted from Liz’s throat as her eyes fluttered open. “Seki?!” Her voice sounded scared and lost.

“He’s in da living room.” Zan’s voice was still soft from the fear that had clung to his heart. “Angel, what’s wrong?”

“I couldn’t control it. I was so worried about classes, and Seki was mocking me about some project I had forgotten. I could feel it start to build in me. I got scared. I didn’t want to hurt the baby…” Liz’s eyes widened, as a hand went to her stomach. “The baby?”

“She’s fine. Seki, somehow, was able to draw the energy from you before you were hurt.” Zan soothed her, his thumb caressing the back of the hand he held.

Liz sighed, and then cried in pain. “Not all of it.”

Zan’s eyes widened as he pulled her off the bed into his arms. “Whaz wrong?”

“My arms.” Liz flinched as Zan pulled the sleeves of her shirt up. Red, angry lines ran up and down her arms. With help from Zan, Liz pulled off her shirt to reveal the skin of her shoulders bubbled.

Zan bit his lip, as he carefully placed a hand on each of her shoulders. “You’s know da drill.” Zan’s voice filled with worry and pain as he could see Liz flinch at his touch.

As their eyes met, the bubbles started to sink back into the skin, as the lines seemed to crawl back up her arms, leaving unblemished skin in its path.

“You tak’ng next semester off. Dis babe show up, you unstress it,” Zan’s voice waivered. Skins, Homicidal siblings and clones; he could handle. The fear of losing Liz threatened to break him in ways he didn’t realize was possible.

“Is Seki ok?” Liz’s eyes filled with unshed tears.

“Wrist’s a little f’ck’d up. I don’t know more den dat.” Zan kissed Liz deeply. He put all his fear, hope and love into it, praying that she would understand that words weren’t necessary.

“I know.” Liz leaned her forehead against his, her eyes closed. “I think you should heal Seki, then come lay down. Baby and Mommy need time with Daddy. I think we all need a nap.”

“I’s fix Seki up right.” Zan lifted Liz back into the bed, hesitant to let her go. “I’s be right back.”

“Thank him for me.” Liz kissed him softly, her hands still loosely gripping his upper arms.

“I’s be right in da living room. You needs me, you holler.” Zan kissed Liz’s forehead, before reluctantly letting her go.

Zan walked backwards to the living room, his eyes never leaving Liz. When she was no longer in his sights, he turned to look at Seki. “Give’s me da wrist.”

“No flowers? No candy? I feel gypped.” Seki looked up from the couch. His voice still a ghost of it’s former self. The monotone that seemed almost detached from the speaker.

“I’s heal ya.” Zan reached for the damaged wrist.

Seki shook his head. “Already took care of it. As a warning, you don’t have anymore milk, Cheetos or ground meat.”

“Why?” Zan looked confused and slightly disgusted.

Seki held up his wrist; the skin shiny and tight. “I’m not human. Actually I’m closer in genetic makeup to the mighty Amoeba. Your wife lovingly calls me Pond Scum now.” Seki pretended to glare at the bedroom. Then sighed and gave up. “I don’t even have enough energy to glare properly. What kind of hell is that?”

“You’s got da couch, if ya want.” Zan motioned for Seki to sleep. “We’s taking a nap too. Just ‘member, you owes us at least da Cheetos. I give two rips bout da moo juice or da meat.”

“I like meat.” Seki joked softly, his normal inflection coloring his tone.

“Perv.” Zan shook his head and patted Seki on the shoulder. “Be’s good. Nap.”

“Yes sir.” Seki laid down and settled into the cushions. “I’ll leave a note if I leave.”

“Take’s you’s time.” Zan walked back to the bedroom, his world asleep over the covers. One of her hands covered the swell of her belly protectively, as she slept.

He curled against her, thankful that she and their child were safe. Breathing in the scent of her hair, and intertwining his fingers with hers over her stomach; he could feel sleep drag him under. Later he’d tell her about the meeting with his agent. How everyone seemed to be clambering to make Kopek Promise into a movie. Maybe later, he would also tell her that he had told them no, because he could never see anyone but Liz as his beloved Eliza. Right now though, the constant breathing and heartbeat of Liz was lulling him to sleep.
