There is a pdf version of the first draft for the Pilot though, which reads like a mixed version of the Roswell High book 1 and the Pilot we got.
When I read it, someone said that it was supposed to be aiming to an HBO kind of audience, but that I cannot confirm or deny... It's an interesting read, that's for sure

Yeah, it is more similar to the book, but still different. You can certainly see the book and the show it became.
Seems a little too tame for HBO to me. No hot sex scenes.
I have it posted on my site, if anyone is interested - http://www.roswelloracle.com/pilot1st.html

I would have LOVED to see how that first draft pilot episode went over. Thanks for posting that link RoswellOracle.

What about the rumoured unaired scenes from Departure? Do they actually exist or is that another myth?

I remember reading a script which had deleted scenes...
It included a scene where Tess was trying to play a CD like Isabel does, and she couldn't, meaning her powers were diminishing because she was pregnant (I guess it was foreshadowing as to why would Kyle suddenly break from the mindwarp). And there was also one where she was calling Max to see where he was. That's why in the scene where Max and Liz are on the jeep on the road, Max is actually speaking on the phone. Then he parks and tells Liz the truth. If you put captions on it, the subtitles come of what he was talking with Tess
That's all I can remember right now... sighs...

No problem Earth2Mama! glad you enjoyed
I know at least some of the scenes were shot a bit different and then changed in Departure. Which scene are you refering to?
Someone who was at the shooting of the episode, said that Liz told Max the truth about FMax and the whole end of the world thing. Obviously they cut that out.
The scene with Tess losing her powers was from one of the false scripts. There were at least 3 versions of the episode written, so no one would know what was really going to happen at the end.

there's also an episode called "the dance" that never aired (at the beginning of season 1) because the wb didn't like the direction the show was taking (i don't really understand what it means. I've read the transcript of that episode and it seems fine to me and it does fit with the first season especially episodes like Blind Date. Maybe the wb wanted more sci.fi)

that wouldn't stop me. All my molecules would be like little homing pigeons.

I've read the dance transcript and I really thought it was fanfic the first time I read it. Not that it's badly written, it just seemed cliched and unoriginal. I'm glad they went in a different direction and we got a unique series instead of a typical High school show which that script would have made it.

I also have 'The Dance' on my website, if anyone would like to take a look.
http://www.roswelloracle.com/dance.html
I think it is cute, but I agree that it goes in more of a Dawson's Creek direction with all the 'will he ask me to the dance' stuff that is going on.

I did like the bit about following the shoes in each take though... And Liz's diary: That nothing -ever- is what it seems
