Wow! I had forgotten how nice his voice is. Deep and sexy with just a hint of quiet shyness. My smile grows bigger and I answer quickly, "I'm good. How about you? Your classes going ok?"

Man, he's going to think I'm the biggest nerd! All I ask about is his classes?

I watch her smile and its like the sun coming out. That smile makes my stomach flip.
"I'm good. How about you? Your classes going ok?" ]

"Uh.."
I've used up my three words. Now what do I do? Repeat them again? Rearrange them in some new way? "You how are?"
Ergh. I dont think thats going to work. Well....Ill just have to say more than three words. Oh God...what do I do?! Which words do I say? Soooo many to pick from....
"I..."
Say something! Anything!

"Yeah, Im alright. Classes are a tad dull, but thats to be expected right?"
Oh God...now shes gonna think I cant stand classes or something. "Not that I...find them boring or anything...."
I am now entering, geek territory.
Oh God! Why didnt I stick at three words!?!
"....there ok" I finish lamely, and look at my feet. Crap! Smoooooth.

"How about you? Hows your going?" I ask. Thats the best I can do? Ask about her classes?! Copy her sentance? Wonderful!

OCC: LOL! Mad, that was so funny! I started laughing so suddenly that I startled my cat into jumping up from her nap.

Aww, he's so cute! He's obviously shy and I can't help but wonder how someone so gorgeous can get through his life without becoming a self-assured (translate conceited) god.

Wait! What did he ask me? Oh yeah, my classes. "Good! They're going good," I practically yell. Cringing, I tone it down a bit and continue, "I really love my lit teacher as she seems so passionate about what she teaches. My Biology teacher, on the other hand, seems to have it out for the world. Our very first class, he swears, on the Bible mind you, that half of us will drop his class or fail out before midterms. Can you believe that?"

Ok, now I'm babbling. Maybe I should have just stopped at "Good."

Did I do something wrong? She's rather loud... She cringes and then says.

I smile. Shes rather funny. She sounds like she knows practically everyone...a social butterfly. Im social...as long as you want three words of course...
"Scare tactics" I nodd. "I hear that quiet a few teachers try to do that. Not sure why they bother though...I mean if we werent here to learn we wouldnt be here right?"
Oh God. I bet she thinks I never leave my room now. Like Im some crazy guy who does nothing but study and Im going to be one of those mad genius's who never talk to anyone.
Ok...so minus the genius part and replace it will alien and shes doing pretty well...not that I'll tell her that!

I cough and say "So you do Literature and Biology? Cool. I dont know much about biology...but I do lit" I say. Yeah...all I ever seem to do nowadays is shut myself in my room with a book. "I prefer the other sciences. Im more of Chemistry and Maths kinda guy" I say shrugging.
Yep. I can tell you right now who shes gonna vote as being the biggest geek at the end of year...
Why WHY didnt I stick at three words! The three world rule Max! I swear from now on in...I just will never ever say anything unless its three words. That way I'll be safe...right?

OCC: You walked into a door?! That sounds so like me it's sad. I think I've mentioned that I work in x-ray and I can't tell you how many times I've bumped my head on that stupid machine. I'm sure it inspires a lot of confidence in my patients.

OMG! I think that's the most I've ever heard Max Evans ever say. I mean, we're actually having a real conversation.

I get lost in his eyes for a moment and blurt out, "I definitely love Chemistry." Then I realize how lame that sounded and feel my cheeks heat up. I self-consciously tuck my hair behind my ear and bite my lip before deciding what to say next. "Um, I mean, I love all sciences. I was thinking about going into molecular biology for a long time but then I started thinking about it more and I think I might go pre-med...eventually become a doctor."

Don't talk about yourself all the time, you dweeb! "Um," I clear my throat, "So what about you? What's your major?"

I smile at her. Wow...we have similar interests...how cool is that! She tucks her heaid behind her ear and bites her lip. It soo cute. Words do not describe how gorgeous Ithink she is.

Wow. A doctor. I can see her in a uniform. Oh no...Im not going to start being some guy who wanders what a girl looks like in different outfits. Its just wrong and deranged...

"Um," she clears her throat as though she knows what I was thinking about. Hey maybe shes an alien...
Maybe not!

"So what about you? What's your major?"
"I..er..." I look down feeling a bit of an idiot. "I havent decided yet" I admit. "Im just...not sure whats next for me...you know. Things change"
Especially when your an alien. And I need to keep my options open.
I feel like a right dummy now. I shuffle my feet and scratch my ear.
Oh God think of something quick or else this conversations going to end... and Im doing so well!
"What are you reading in your lit class?" I ask. I wonder if its the same as me...that would be kinda cool....

Oh man, now I've embarrassed him. I feel bad and am scared he's going to make one of his quick exits again when he surprises me. "What are you reading in your lit class?"

I look down at the book I'm holding and wave it at him to have something to do to get rid of this nervous energy. "Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I've always wanted to read it and finally got the chance as an assignment," I answer. "We're supposed to write a paper on it after we're done. Actually, it looks like that's the way it's going to go for most of the semester. The teacher gave us a list of books we have to read by the end of the semester and test on them and write a paper. She's left it up to us what order we read them in."

I nodd. "Same" I say trying not to show how excited that makes me. "I love "Pride and Prejudice"....I know the guys in my class think that its all romantic girly stuff...but I like it" I say with a shrug.

Ok, now shes going to think your gay...flex your muscles or something! Be a man! Say you were about to go into your room to watch porn! Anything!!! my mind screams at me.

"I like the way she writes about Elizabeths feelings...its just...so intense"
Yep...she thinks your missing male bodily parts now!

I can't help but be surprised by Max's answer. The thought flashes through my mind that he might be gay but then I remember the petite blonde I've seen him hanging around and suddenly all my happiness at the conversation turns to guilt. I've got a boyfriend...who I'm supposed to meet down in the quad. I look down at the ground in disappointment. But then an idea comes to me and I ask, "So, um, would you want to maybe get together sometime and go over the list of books we're supposed to read?" When my conscience pricks me and he looks hesitant, I hurry to add, "I mean, it might help us write our papers if we can bounce ideas and feelings on the books off of each other. Do you have Mrs. Matthews?"
