Summary:
Maxwell Evans is a 30 year old, fly by the seat of his pants, kind of guy. He works as a bartender at a local bar, just living the high life of being a bachelor. His friends Kyle Valenti and Michael Guerin enjoy the ride right along with him. Kyle is a rock climbing instructor and Michael is a lead guitarist in the local band (with Kyle and Max) that plays at the club Max bartends for. So they don’t have any trouble with the woman department and enjoy every minute of it.
Max has one very unique flaw that most males these days tend to have; he still lives at home with his parents. Diane and Phillip Evans, along with Max’s 25 year old sister Isabel Evans have tried everything to make him see that he needs to grow up. But Max enjoys his life and living with his parents- no bills or responsibility!
Diane is out with her good friend Nancy Parker one day and learns that Nancy’s daughter Elizabeth has a unique job. She is a psychologist who has begun a sort of self help business. She meets a guy and gives them the tools she feels are necessary to make them confident enough to move out on their own. Nancy explains that her daughter Liz says the problem is what people in her field call the “Failure to Launch” syndrome. Diane takes Liz’s card and decides it’s time to take action!
Elizabeth Parker is a 28 year old psychologist that has never had good luck with relationships. All the men around her age she has dated are immature, have no stable job and still live at home with her parents. She has gotten so tired of this type of guy that she’s made it her life’s mission to “cure” all men of the “Failure to Launch” syndrome. Yet this leaves her no time for real relationships.
She lives with her roommates and quirky best friends, Maria Deluca and Tess Harding. Maria is a therapeutic wellness specialist and Tess is a very plain, shy kindergarten school teacher. Both feel their best friend Liz’s new crusade is nothing but her way of hiding from the pain and hurt she has felt from relationships.
Liz’s has one sibling, a half brother, Alex Whitman, from her father’s remarriage. Alex is a computer instructor and works at the same school as Tess.

30 year old Max thinks he's struck a great balance in his life. He has a job that he can meet many ladies through, and he has friends he can count on. His parent's house is the ideal place to live because of the cheap rent, hot food waiting for him when he gets home, and clean laundry in his closet. Lately, Max has noticed that the women he dates are pulling away from him when they see where he lives. But, he refuses to believe that anyone would let their attraction falter because of such a minor detail. And, there's always more fish in the sea. Life is his oyster.
Isabel Evans

Isabel has always been very focused and goal oriented. She can sometimes target something to the point of not seeing anything else. As was the case with her pursuing ehr schooling and her career. She's trying to relax more now and take back some of the things she feels she's lost because of her full steam ahead attitude the past ten or so years, including renewing some of her relationships with friends and family that had become strained or non-existent.
The holiday her family has seen her for, over these years has been Christmas which she had insisted on being perfect becuase she wanted only good memories, not realizing she maybe created bad ones for other people.
Now that she's a resident doctor though, she still feels the stress, maybe now more than ever, and has begun to see a therapuetic wellness doctor to try and maintain and reacheive some sort of normality.
She's a no nonsense kind of girl, usually under the claim that she has no time for it. And she also doesn't go for frills. Sometimes they're nice, but she'd rather there be honesty in things than have them be pretty for the sake of being pretty.
Elizabeth Parker

Elizabeth Parker thinks she has found her calling at 28 years old. She is a professional motivator who secretly dates men with the "Failure to Launch" syndrome. She is usually approached and hired by parents of the "lost ships". It is her job to date them and in turn help them gain the confidence they need to become independant and "Launch" or move out on their own. She thinks her job is wonderful, but her friends think she is secretly hiding her past relationship pains.
Kyle Valenti

Kyle Valenti's a 29 year old rock climbing instructor and just like Max and Michael enjoys just living the high life of being a bachelor and playing in the band. The outside world believes he's a rebel and lives life to the extreme. Although in his private life, Kyle is very spiritual and very down to earth when you finally get past the rough exterior he puts out there for the world to see.
Alex Whitman

Alex, 27, works as a computer science instructor, and in his free time he volunteers at the local Animal Hospital. He just bought his own house, and he's moving to the neighborhood to be closer to his half-sister Liz. Growing up, he never saw her much, but he's kept a picture of her smiling and happy in the back of his mind. He hasn't seen her in a long time, but the driven and determined woman before him worries him. He has an inkling that she will let love back into her life with the right encouragement. He hasn't found love himself, or at least the right person, but he sees life as a series of chances, and as long as you put your heart into the right one, you'll find what you're looking for.

Maria is a therapeutic wellness specialist and best friends with Liz and Tess. Maria is quirky and outspoken, especially when she feels passionate about something. She feels that what Liz does is nothing more then to hide from the pain and hurt of her past relationships. When they go to a club one day Maria meets Michael and instantly hates him, that is until he convinces her to join his band as a singer. Maria has wanted to sing for a long time. It's always been her dream.
Tess Harding

Tess is a 26 year old kindergarten teacher, she has always been a quiet person who likes to keep to herself. She doesn't like big crowds but loves her job and adores all the little kids she teaches and this is where her bubbly personality shines through.

Micahel is a 30 year old lead guitarist in a local band that plays at the club Max works for. He is your typical bachleor and all around rebel. He hates authority and makes his own rules as he goes along. He is his own man and worries about no one but himself. He's an orphan and has had to depend on himself for so long that he is very standoffish with people in general and his hard shell makes it difficult for people to get to know him. There are only two people in the world he trusts and that's his best friends Kyle and Max. As for the rest of the world, who needs them!
In the story:
*Liz will come to the club Max works at with her friends, Tess and Maria.
*Maria will see Michael there and completely hate him at first. What kind of adult still plays in a rock band? Later he talks her into joining the band as the lead singer after Michael finds Maria secretly dreams of being a singer.
*Tess Harding is impressed at Kyle’s job and decides to take up lessons with him. She is very conservative and decides to take a walk on her wild side.
*Max’s sister, Isabel, will begin going to see Maria to help maintain her stressful new job as resident doctor at a local clinic. She finds out what her parents have done and eventually lets the cat out of the bag, when she sees Max falling for Liz.
*Alex and Isabel meet through Maria.
