Part 1

Liz walked down the halls on her way towards the exit ‘have a nice holiday’ and ‘enjoy yourself’ were thrown at her from her co-workers. Liz smiled to herself when she finally made it outside, two weeks of vacation were all hers and she couldn’t be happier.

Walking into her apartment an hour later she sighed when an uninvited guest greeted her. "What are you doing here Zan?"

Zan smirked at her reaction to him finding her new apartment. She had moved about two weeks ago not telling her alien counterparts a thing "Thought I would drop in and check out the new digs" he replied. "Very nice by the way"

"Well I think so, closer to work so I can walk but somehow I think you probably already know that" she replied shaking her head. Zan was about to respond when a loud knocking on the door interrupted him.

Liz made her way to open the door, not in the least surprised when she realised that it was Rath, Lonnie and Nasedo, who didn’t wait to be invited in before making themselves comfortable in her apartment, except for Nasedo who stood rigid as usual.

"So I take it this isn’t a surprise housewarming party, so what gives?'

"Liz I'm sorry to barge in on you but it was important that I talk to you. Zan insisted it be here" Nasedo replied.

Liz nodded at him indicating he could continue "I received word today from Cal the other sets protector that he has confirmed that the other you Liz is dead" he told her.

"Wow how did the King take it" Liz asked him realising that she had called him the King to get under Zan's skin. She was annoyed that he had followed her and found out where she was living, hell she was annoyed that he had let himself into her place, her private place.

"Nice digs Lizzie" Lonnie piped up

Liz smiled her thanks and then went back to Nasedo waiting for his answer. "The King is possibly not aware, they did not hit it off" he replied.

"It appears that's the general census with both the Kings and Queens hey Lizzie" Zan added sarcastically. Liz ignored him going to her breakfast bench and taking a seat on the nearest stool.

"Not today Zan I am not in the mood" she replied weekly when she saw that Zan was about to start AGAIN.

"I know you don’t want to hear it Liz, you never do but it's our destiny to be together, I’ve given you plenty of time haven’t I?" when he got no response he continued. "Liz you can have as much fun with as many humans as you like but you belong with me, to me. You need to accept it and let Nasedo perform the bonding ceremony"

"Is that all?" she asked looking at Nesedo.

"No I need to talk with you privately" he replied.

"Bye" Liz stated to the others. Rath and Lonnie fled the apartment quickly with nothing more than a 'later' but Zan did not leave so easy.

"I'll be back in an hour Liz" and left.

Getting up with a sigh Liz placed a lock on the door that she knew that none of the others could break and sat down suit Nesedo follow. They had always had a strange relationship. "Talk" she said quietly. It was not intended as an order and Nasedo knew this but all the same it was underneath and he had no choice but to obey.

" I realise you never wanted to be a Queen but you were born into it and I know that when or if the time ever comes you will do the best job you can but you need a King and in the very near future an heir will be required"

"Shouldn’t you be having this conversation with the King? I can’t control his mating habits" she replied sharply.

"Liz, the King has not bonded to his female girlfriend yet. He like you has always known the implications but if he does she will never bear the heir only you can do that"

"What?"

"Liz you are the Queen and were chosen by the granolith that's almost more important than the King. If you bond with Zan the granolith will transfer the seal from Max to Zan and he will become King. If you bond with a human and Max follows suit you will remain the King and Queen still. If you bear a child with a human mate it wont be considered the heir either. You will have to be prepared to carry the Kings child at some point.

Child I know that you see Zan as a brother, and hate how he constantly preaches about destiny but he loves you and he is right. You need to bond soon."

Liz nodded in defeat; she knew it was time to accept the inevitable. "I'll give it some thought and let you know after my holiday. You haven’t told them have you?"

"No and I wont and I will also do everything I can to distract them. Liz there is one other thing if I may?" he asked.

Liz nodded "I think it would be in everyone’s best interest if you planned a trip to meet the King?"

Liz looked at him confused "I understand that what you feel for Zan is platonic and I think you should meet him and make your decision based on who you believe would be the best King for your people and remember you are not the duplicate Queen maybe that is why you don’t feel the pull towards Zan"

"Your right if I cant marry for love then I should marry the best King I’ll plan a visit to them when I get back ok" she replied.

Nasedo followed Liz to the door and she unlocked it so that he could leave “have a safe trip your majesty” and then he left.

Part 2

Liz was soaking in her bath listening to Dido when Zan entered the apartment. He stood leading against the frame of the apartment door watching her as she soaked and hummed along to the beautiful melodies. [God she’s a goddess]. He quietly made his way towards her and leant down and kissed her softly.

Liz opened her eyes in surprise “Hey munchkin, want company?” he smirked at her. Liz raised an eyebrow at him “Hey it’s nothing I ain't seen before sugar”

Liz laughed, “Yeah well that was when we were 6 Z, I may not have got much taller but I have plenty you haven’t see before”

Realising that he relaxation time was effectively over with a flick of the wrist Liz shoved Zan out of the bathroom and closed the door so she could get out of the tub in privacy.

Five minutes later she emerged into the lounge room in a tank top and pair of pajama pants “So?” she asks making her way to the kitchen. Zan follows her and wraps his hands around her from behind pinning her front against the counter. “You tell me, I miss you. You never hang with us anymore” he whispered in her ear and then begun to trail kisses down her neck.

Liz knew that she should stop him, that nothing would come of it and that she would just end up pissing him off last time he wouldn’t speak to her for a month and had screwed half of New York City. Realising that this could be the perfect way to avoid him discovering her holiday she decided to play along. His hands made their way to her breasts before Liz turned around and started kissing him. His hands dropped from her breasts to her ass and lifted her and placed her on the counter. When her ass hit the counter she broke the kiss and looked at his face. His eyes were dark with desire and Liz knew that she couldn’t push him any further.

“Did you enjoy that?” she asked him.
Zan's eyes grew wide at her question, of course he enjoyed it so he nodded his head slowly and then leaned in to attempt to capture her lips again.
Liz pushed his chest forcing him to take a step backwards and then jumped down from the bench "Good because your never going to get to do it again" and made her way to her bedroom locking the door securely behind her.
"Fuck" she heard Zan yelling in the kitchen and the sounds of something breaking. [Mission accomplished] she thought to herself before drifting off into a peaceful slumber.
It was almost midday when Liz landed at Albuquerque airport so she quickly collected her bags and made her way over to rent a car. Alex Whitman had been her email pen pal for almost 8 years and she was excited to finally be meeting him in person. Liz had never been able to leave her alien counterparts before but when Alex invited her for a visit during his summer break she couldn’t say no again. He had offered to make the trip to pick her up but she wouldn’t allow it telling him that she really needed a car with her anyway; she didn’t want to rely on him to have to take her everywhere. So Alex had relented and given her directions to meet him at the Crashdown which Liz thought she would spot anywhere after all the stories Alex had told her about his best friend Maria and her adventures working their with Michael.
Liz found the Crashdown quite easily about an hour later and made her way inside. Her and Alex had exchanged school photos yearly so she knew that she would be able to spot Alex anywhere.
Maria Deluca sighed when she heard the doors to the front of the restaurant jingle knowing that it was inevitable she would have to back to work now that their were customers. She had been sitting with her best friend Alex when he quickly got up and made his way to the door. "Liz wow it's great to finally see you, your pictures don’t do you any justice" Liz smiled at the lanky man standing in front of him. He had changed every year and she wasn’t surprised when he had told her he had finally captured the heart of the most beautiful girl in Roswell. "It's great to finally see you in the flesh too Alex" she said reaching up to give him a hug. They were interrupted by a person clearing their throat behind them "There’s someone behind us that you really have to meet" he told her and motioned towards his best friend "Liz this is Maria Deluca". Liz turned and smiled at the blonde and reached out her hand to offer it but Maria's face changed to one full of shock and the drinks she was dropping crashed to the floor in a loud crash.
"Maria what the hell is wrong with you" yelled Michael as he made his way towards them from the kitchen. Liz's gasp stopped him in his tracks "Oh god" he mumbled.
"You can say that again,” Maria added in pulling herself together and standing up.
Alex looked at his friends and back to Liz confused "Do you guys know each other Liz?" he asked her.
"Liz? I thought your name was Lilly" Michael asked.
"Lilly isn't that the chick that's been chasing after Max?" Alex asked still confused.
"Who’s chasing after Max?" came a voice from the back of the restaurant. Michael turned towards the door to see Tess in her work uniform followed by Max entering the Crashdown.
"Um no it's Liz" Liz finally answered Michaels question after finding her voice; she was completely unaware of the situation that was about unfold before her.
When she finally lifted her eyes they locked with a pair of deep amber ones with gold flecks, eyes she recognised. Focusing on the face she gasped when she found the hottest man she had ever seen standing in front of her. His hair fell over his forehead and his face was perfect without any facial hair or piercing. Her gaze continued downwards taking is his very muscular upper body before returning to his face. Her staring was interrupted when a shriek filled the room.
"What the fuck do you think you doing here?"

Part 3

Max stared at the angel standing before him, her beautiful doe brown eyes and her flowing hair. Trailing his eyes down her body he took in her petite form and only one word came to mind ‘perfect’.
Tess’s shrieking voice brought him out of the perusal of her body. It was covered in tight leather pants and a red baby tee.
The blonde’s shriek brought Liz out of her dream world just in time to catch the look on Max’s face as he too inspected the goods in front of him, she couldn’t help but grin.
“Hi I’m Liz,” she said holding out her hand for him to take.
“Max “ he replied.
“Okay does someone want to tell me what the hell is going on?” Michael asked.
“Okay where would you like me to start?” Liz asked.
“How about with what the hell you think you are doing here? And how you should keep your hands and your eyes off my boyfriend” Tess snapped at her.
“Tess” Max warned.
“Look I’m from New York and here to visit Alex it’s that simple. And Tess is it? You can’t take something that doesn’t want to be taken in the first place” she replied with a smirk.
Maria and Michael burst into a fit of laughter at that comment and Max also had to bite the inside of his mouth to stop himself from joining in.
“Well that’s confirms it, she’s been here more than five minutes and no sign of the destiny word. Definitely not Lilly” Michael joked.
Liz laughed at that. From some of the things that Nasedo had told her she understood that the Roswell bunch apparently didn’t think much of the destiny crap either.
“Um Liz do you think we could sit down?” Max asked pointing to a booth and indicating for her to take a seat. Liz nodded and followed his lead. Maria sat down next to her and Alex followed leaving Michael and Max on the other side. “Well now that you here Tess my shift is finished so the restaurant is all yours” Maria told Tess when she saw her getting ready to take a seat.
Tess was fuming she certainly didn’t want to leave her boyfriend alone with this tramp but realised that she didn’t have a choice. There were a few customers and her father was now working the grill. Turning on her heel with out another word she left.
“Buh bye” Liz waved mockingly “it’s so hard to have a fan club sometimes” she mumbled. Maria and Alex heard her and they both burst into laughter.
“So you are Lilly’s dupe” Michael finally asked.
“No I’m no dupe at all” Liz replied evenly.
“So who are you then?” Max asked “And why do you recognise us?” he continued.
Liz sighed when she realised that they misunderstood her “that’s not what I meant. Yes apparently Lilly and I look the same but…”
“But what?” Michael asked.
“Lilly was the duplicate not me” she finished quietly.
After she finished Michael continued to fire questions at her again but by this stage Liz had had enough. It was too much to deal with “Look I understand that you probably have a million questions but I came here to see Alex, I didn’t even know you guys were in Roswell so right now if it’s ok with Alex I just want to go and book into my hotel and catch up with him. I will talk to you guys later ok?”
Alex nodded and before either Max or Michael had time to object he escorted Liz out of the Crashdown.
“Wow” Max said when she was out of view.

Part 4

Three days later Liz found herself out the front of the Crashdown again, she was nervous about going in but she way hungry and this was the easiest place to eat at the moment. She had spent the last few days with Alex and Maria, and even Isabelle. The four of them had got to know each other quite well. Glancing in the restaurant she couldn’t see Tess and she was surprised with the relieved feeling she got from that and she wasn’t sure why. Yes you are said that annoying voice in her head and of course it was right. Max.

Looking down at her clothes she realised again that she looked out of place in her tight hipster jeans and baby tee but she couldn’t help that because she was a New Yorker.

She plopped herself down in the same booth that she had sat at on her visit to the Crashdown and the proceeded to order herself some lunch.
“Hi Liz” startled her from her burger and fries so she looked up and was immediately pulled into the most dazzling pair of amber eyes. Gulping Liz gave him her most dazzling smile before answering. “Hi Max” and when he smiled she knew that she was a goner.

“Do you mind?” he asked gesturing to the seat across from her.
“Of course, I’ve been wanting to talk to you anyway” she replied.

“Liz I just wanted to apologise for the way we all behaved the other day. To say that it was a shock to find you standing here is an understatement”

“It’s okay Max because it was just as big a shock for me as it was for you. Nasedo never told me that you guys were is Roswell but it’s not like I actually told them I was coming to Roswell so what can I expect”

Max smiled “You didn’t tell them you were coming here?”

Liz shook her head and then placed her burger down. “This is my first holiday. Hell this is the first time I have ever gotten to go anywhere without them following me and it’s a relief I finally feel like I can breathe. So I take it from everyone’s reaction to me that you don’t know yet that Lilly is dead?”

“Um no we didn’t know that. How?” he asked

“On her way to the big smoke in search of Zan, apparently she didn’t get what she wanted here” Liz smirked at Max’s reaction.

“So you heard?” he asked quietly.

“I was told she found you, she preached destiny and you sent her packing choosing Tess over her” he nodded “Sounds close enough”

“I know how you feel. Zan and Lilly would of hit it off I think because I get the same lecture annually and bi-annually. Recently though I get to tune into it fortnightly” Max laughed at her mocking of destiny.

“So tell me then Liz from New York, if your not the dupe then what are you?” he asked seriously.

“I your highness am the real macoy and have the queen of Antar seal of approval,” she laughed.
“Wow so you should have been with us?”
“Yeah but they decided it was safer to separate us. I just like you have had to sit through history lessons, training, diplomat lessons the works.” She replied.

Max was about to respond when he was interrupted by the shriek of Tess “Max” she screamed in delight. Max and Liz were staring at each other intently, neither prepared to look away from the other until they had to.
“I’m ready so let’s go” Tess’s voice finally broke through. Max gave Liz an apologetic smile and proceeded to stand up.

“Max we really need to talk, there are things that you need to know now that I am here” she said looking up into his beautiful face; he almost took her breath away.

“Well Max doesn’t want to hear what you have to say so why don’t you just leave us alone” Tess snapped.

“TESS that’s enough” Max yelled at his girlfriend, Tess flinched and then walked out of the Crashdown.

“I’m sorry about that. How about I drop around to your hotel tomorrow morning?” he replied.

Liz stood up and followed him out of the Crashdown “I’ll see you then” she smiled and walked in the opposite direction.

Part 5


Liz was pacing the hotel room in a bundle of nerves waiting for Max the next morning. She was both nervous and excited all at the same time. She had spent an hour getting ready that morning picking her outfit carefully and washing and blow-drying her hair. For some reason it was important that she looked nice this morning for Max.
Max was on edge the next morning on his way to Liz’s hotel. He’d had a terrible night with Tess the night before, they had argued the entire night until he had enough and taken her home. Her parents had gone away and she desperately wanted him to stay. A week ago he would have jumped at the chance convinced that she was definitely the girl for him but her behaviour in the past three days told him differently. Tess Parker was no queen.
He knocked on the door to her room quickly hoping that it would calm his nerves but all thoughts were lost when she opened the door. Liz was wearing a black slinky top that showed off her fantastic cleavage and a short denim skirt that showed the expanse of her wonderful brown legs. Perfect.
“Hey” she smiled and moved aside to let him enter.
“Hey” he smiled back.
“You look fantastic,” he told her before he could stop himself. Did he really just say that? But when she gave him a killer smile he couldn’t regret it.
“Thanks” she replied.
“Okay so I think it would just be best if I start now otherwise I might loose my nerve. I don’t know what you’ve been told so I will just tell you it all, ok?” she asked sitting down across from him on the bed. He hopped up and joined her reaching for her hand and interlacing it with his. A surge of energy ran through them and they both smiled.
“I hatched from my pod with you 3 so I assume it was here. I was going to be adopted by a couple, the Parkers and they gave me my name but just before it became official Nasedo decided for the sake of the planet that the Queen and King should be apart so if something was to happen to one the other would be safe and so on.
When I got to New York I went to live with Nasedo, Zan who is your dupe, Rath and Lonnie. They didn’t know any different and the four of us grew up as brothers and sisters. I always believed that Zan was my brother I mean we both have dark hair and eyes and he would always protect me. I went to school separately to them always graduating a couple of years early. That’s why I already have my degree”
“Same here, I just have to pick which medical school to go to now’ he smiled
“Then when we turned 15 the dreams started and Rath and Lonnie just started going at it and the whole thing got really. Zan tried too but to me it always felt wrong. So after some huge fights Nasedo got me my own apartment. We’ve been going around in circles over it for years. They don’t know that I’m the queen, they don’t know the half of it”
“Wow, well I guess you can understand how I felt when Lilly came to town” he replied.
“What was she like” Liz couldn’t help but ask,
“Nothing like you” he smiled “her hair was really short she had studs and stuff all over her face, her clothes were always black. Maria said she was Goth” they both smiled at that “but it wasn’t that that bothered me the most it was the way she thought of humans, and not specifically Tess. She threatened Maria and I just couldn’t stand the site of her let alone stomach the thought of putting up with her for the rest of my life”
“Do you love Tess?” she asked suddenly, surprised that she was concerned about the answer.
“We’ve been together for 2 years, she knows my secret and she accepts it. I always thought it was love but I’m not quite sure anymore" he answered; he wasn’t even sure what he was going to say before he opened his mouth.
“How come you never bonded with her?”
“Because just like you it’s forever and I’m not really sure if she is the right Queen for our people”
Liz took in a big breath causing Max to look at her. “Max she will never be Queen. It doesn’t matter who you bond with I am the Queen. The granolith game me the seal in our past life it won’t take it unless I die” she looked up to see the questions in his eyes.
“I thought that you were only Queen because we used to be bonded and married,” he asked.
“When Zan was born on Antar he was born to the King and the King’s Queen but she was not the Queen chosen by the granolith which meant that your powers would never be whole. Lillia was Rath's sister and she grew up with you and Vilandra at the palace. From the time they were 12 Zan and Lillia knew they loved each other and were never apart so when the King and Queen announced your betrothel to Ava a princess on another planet they were both devastated. It had been arranged to prevent war but it created war for your family. The night before your wedding there was a ball at the palace that I was allowed to attend. We hadn’t seen each other since your betrothel because I was banned from seeing you by your parents.
At the ball Zan took Lillia to the granolith and declared his heart and soul to her and the granolith advised that Lillia was a chosen Queen. Zan and Lillia took measure to immediately bond then and when it was complete the seal was given. It was the reason why Ava’s brother killed us.
Tess or anyone else that you choose will never be Queen. I’m sorry Max” she looked up then.
“So I’m stuck with you?” he asked, a small smile tugging at his lips.
A shiver ran through Liz then “actually maybe not” she looked him in the eye then “Max if I bond with Zan the granolith will give him your seal”
“And he will be King?” Max finished for her.
“And will you?” he asked breaking the silence.
“I don’t want to. I always wanted to bond for love and I know I will never feel that kind of love for Zan”
“If we bond with humans Max I will still have to carry your child, the heir”
“But I thought it was impossible to be with anyone other than your bonded” Max asked confused
“It is but there are scientific ways. Anyone you choose would have to accept that, as would we, could you? Could Tess?”
“Liz” Max started and then stopped. He still had hold of her hand and began to caress it softly causing Liz to moan.
“You do feel it don’t you?” he asked her softly.
Liz couldn’t speak so slowly nodded her head, her eyes never leaving his. “I need to go talk to Isabel and Michael but your coming out with us all tonight aren’t you?” He asked getting up from her bed.
“Yeah” she replied.
“I’ll pick you up” he leant forward and gave her a kiss on the forehead and then left.

Part 6

When Max arrived to pick Liz up that night he came alone. Michael, Maria, Isabel and Alex were going to meet them at the club. Max hadn’t told Michael and Isabel everything that Liz had shared with him earlier in the day yet; he still wanted to absorb some of the information himself before he told them.

When Liz rushed out of the hotel door Max’s breath caught in his throat, she had on a black leather skirt with slits up the sides that showed of her brown thighs and a blood red top that was completely backless.
‘Hey thanks for picking me up’ she smiled leaning over and giving him a kiss on the cheek.

‘Wow’ he uttered looking her up and down like she was his next meal. Liz was having similar thoughts when she caught how well she could see Max’s gorgeous body through his tight black top.
‘Yeah you can say that again’ she mumbled but Max heard her and grinned.
‘Let’s go beautiful’ he winked at her and then started the jeep and headed towards the club to meet the others.

The club was busy and it took Max and Liz about five minutes to find the others once they got inside ‘Where’s Tess tonight?’ Liz asked Alex when they finally found them.

‘Her and Max had a fight the other night apparently and so Max just didn’t invite her and made it pretty clear to all of us that he didn’t want her to find out where we all were. You wouldn’t know anything about that now would you Lizzie?’ he responded.

“Why would I have anything to do with it?” she asked confused.
“Maybe it’s got something to do with the looks you two have been giving each other since you arrived and the fact that he is looking at you right now like you’re his next meal” he replied with a grin.

Liz couldn’t help but smile at that. Did he feel as attracted to her as she did to him? And could it be something more? The scary part was that she knew it could, she knew that she could fall completely in love with Max Evans if she let herself.

“Dance with me sweets?” she heard whispered huskily in her ear.
“Love to” she smiled and then took his hand and let him lead her to the dance floor.

Montel Jordans – This is how you do it was playing and Max immediately pulled her body close to his and they both began to sway to the music in union. Liz’s body was on fire at the feel of Max’s hands on her hips, she raised her hands around his neck and began to grind her pelvis into his in time to the music. Max was loosing control, he was already harder than he had ever remembered being in his life and he knew that Liz would be able to feel every inch of him.

“Max” Liz moaned into his ear when the song came to an end and a slower song started playing. Max continued to grind his body into hers but slower to the beat of the music.
“God I want you sweets. Did I tell you how beautiful and sexy you look tonight?” he whispered in her ear.
“Maax” she moaned in response “you didn’t need to tell me you showed me with your eyes” she replied just as huskily into his ear so that no one but them could hear their words.

Max couldn’t take it anymore and he slowly lowered his lips to hers giving her enough time to pull away if she didn’t want it as much as he did. But she didn’t, she kissed him back as passionately as he kissed her and when she moaned into his mouth he took the opportunity and slipped his tongue into her mouth. When the need for air came to them Max pulled away and quickly led her off the dance floor and into a dark corner of the room where they could have a little privacy. Pushing her up against the wall his mouth quickly claimed hers again and his body pressed up against her showing her how much she aroused him.

“Max, we have to stop” Liz interrupted.
“I know can we go to your motel” he replied huskily while trailing kisses down her neck.
“God I would love nothing more, Max we cant do that you know that and besides you have a girlfriend, remember Tess,” she answered breathlessly.
Max groaned, “How could I forget”.
Liz looked into his eyes and saw all the jumbled emotions running around “Is this the alien side of us?” she asked quietly.
Max leaned in again and captured her lips in a tender kiss “No, I don’t recognise you like that. But you were definitely made for me I think that’s why I love everything about you that I know so far” he answered her.
Liz smiled shyly “What are we doing Max? Honestly I mean what do you want from me?”
“Everything” he answered “I have never felt like this before Liz and I don’t imagine you have either”
Liz nodded “Come on beautiful I’ll drop you back at the hotel” he gently took hold of her hand and entwined his fingers with her and lead and towards the exit to the club.
He hadn’t planned on kissing Liz like he had on the dance floor but he just couldn’t help himself any longer she was just too beautiful, sexy and smart to not kiss her. he thought.

Part 7

Max walked into the crashdown the next morning, he was a man on a mission and he had all intentions of successfully completing it. What he didn’t bargain on was that Tess Parker was twice as stubborn as him.
“Max” she squealed and launched herself into his arms the moment she saw him. “I’m sorry about the other night baby, let me make it up to you, my shift just ended” she spoke into his chest.
Max gently removed her from the embrace, if he was going to do this he knew that the best method would be like a bandaid. Do it quick it will hurt her less.
“Tess, we need to talk. Can we go upstairs?” he asked her.
Tess smiled seductively “Sure baby, anything you want”
When they got upstairs Tess led Max to her bedroom and closed the door behind her. [No use getting interrupted] she thought to herself.
Max sat down at the chair near her desk and Tess gave him a confused look “Come over here Max” she motioned with her hand while taking a seat on her bed.
“No I don’t think that’s a great idea right now Tess” he replied.
“Look Max if this is about the other night and the way I have been acting I cant tell you how sorry I am. I have had some time to think about the way I’ve been treating you and I realise what a bitch I have been. I mean I know you love me and that you aren’t interested in Liz or anyone else” she looked up at Max then and saw the look in his eyes “Right Max?”
“Actually Tess that’s not what I wanted to talk to you about but now that you have brought it up, you’re right. You have been a total bitch and I have been putting up with it for too long which is why I’ve come to a decision”

“What sort of decision Max” Tess asked anxiously. She didn’t like where this conversation was going. Normally she would just apologise, he would accept and they would make up (out) for the next hour. Things were not going the way she had thought.

“I think we should stop seeing each other” he replied.
“What! No Max you cant do this to me. I love you, you love me. Is this about you gong away to school?”
“Tess, I came to this decision for a lot of reasons but mainly because I’m not happy in this relationship anymore. We do nothing but fight, my friends hate you and honestly Tess I know that this is not what I want for my life.” By this time Tess was sobbing.

“No Max I know why your doing this and I wont let you ruin two years of our life like this. I will follow you to school I already told you that.”

“Tess, it’s not about school. I’ve already decided where I’m going.” He cut her off.

“So it’s about that slut then. What you want to break up with me so you can what sleep with her is that it”

“That’s enough Tess. Don’t speak about Liz like that” Max yelled. “This is about you being a self centred little girl who doesn’t care about anyone but herself. I’m here telling you that I am miserable being with you and that I need a break”

“Okay you’re right, I’m sorry and if a break is what you need then it’s yours. We’ll just have a break, just to give you the space you need” Tess interrupted him.

[Shit] Max thought, “No Tess that’s not what I meant” he replied.
“It’s fine Max take your time and I’ll be waiting here for you,” she said sweetly.

Max sighed “Tess, look I know that you don’t want to break up and if calling it a break makes you feel better about it for a while then fine you can call it whatever you like. But I think you should start seeing other guys when you go to college, it’ll be good for you.”
“I don’t want to see other people” she spoke quietly.

“I’m sorry Tess. I’ll see you later” and with that Max Evans left the Tess Parkers room and consequently her life at the same time, for good he hoped.

Part 8


The whole group were sitting around waiting for Liz to arrive the following morning before they could start their meeting.
“ So what’s this about Maxwell” asked Michael
“Let’s just wait till Liz gets here and then I’ll tell you everything Michael” he replied.
“So Max, where’s Tess today?” Maria asked with a smirk on her face.
Before Max could answer he was interrupted by a knock on the door. 10 seconds later Liz was in the Evan’s lounge room with everyone else.
“Okay well Liz and I got together the other day and talked out everything and some of the stuff that we have learnt lately we thought you guys should know about. So questions?”
Michael – “ so now that your part of out four are you going to be sticking around?”
“Michael I have a job in New York so I am going home next week. Besides aren’t you all going away to finish college?” Liz replied.
“Um yeah” Max answered.
“Ok well now to my question, where’s the gerbil?” Maria asked again.
“I didn’t tell her about the meeting. I didn’t think she would want to be here.” Max answered.
“Why” Isabel asked suspiciously.
“We broke up this morning” Max mumbled.
“You what? Maxwell what the hell, how do you know she isn’t going to tell?” roared Michael.
“I don’t” he responded truthfully.
Liz remained quiet but the small smile on her lips did not go unnoticed by Alex. “So why did you split?” Alex asked.
“Well not that I should have to explain myself to you guys but I was getting a little tired of her attitude”
“Oh so you just get sick of her and dump her ass, she knows Maxwell” Michael continued.
“Enough” screamed Liz. “I can fix Tess’s memory okay Michael. Let it go”. Everyone’s eyes went to Liz, no one had ever heard her raise her voice let a lone yell at someone the way she had at Michael plus what did she mean by fix her memory.
“What do you mean you can fix her memory Liz?” asked Alex.
“Well we probably would have already been half way through the story by now if Michael had shown a little restraint, but to answer your question Alex I have the ability to mind warp people and alter memories. Now if we can continue I think the first thing we need to sort out is who is in charge here”
“What do you mean by who’s in charge here?” snapped Isabel.
“What I mean is Isabel that Max is the King, I realise that the three of you have been a three some for a while now but I think it’s time you realised that they way you just spoke to him is completely out of line. You probably think that Max has been irresponsible in breaking up with Tess when she knows your secret but as far as I’m concerned you should think it would be irresponsible if he didn’t. If Max bonded with Tess we would all be stuck with her for good is that what you want?” they all shook there heads? “I didn’t think so”
“What do you mean by bonded?” Maria asked.
Liz turned to Max at that questions “I take it you never told them either?” she asked and Max shook his head no.
“Does that mean she would have become queen?” Michael asked.
“No. First things first. I am the Queen and that wont change unless I die. In our previous life Zan took Lillia to the granolith to seek approval to take her as his queen when his parents were trying to force him to marry Ava. The Granolith accepted his oath and upon the bonding gave Lillia the seal. My seal in some ways is considered more important that Max’s because I am the only one that can carry the heir to the throne.”
“Wow” said Maria.
“Guys it also means that Liz has the ability to choose the King” Max told them.
“What!” yelled Michael and Isabel simultaneously and looked at Liz.
“What Max should have told you first is that unlike you too we cant have an intimate relationship with anyone without bonding, and you can only ever bond once. Neither Max or I have done that because we have always had it drummed into us the importance of making that kind of decision”
“So you and Tess? Never?” Isabel asked her brother.
“No” he answered.
“Wow, she sure is a good liar then” Maria added making Max blush furiously.
“So if you bond with someone Max wont be King anymore?” Michael asked.
“No not necessarily. If Max and I both bond with humans we will both remain King and Queen but separately. If I bond with Zan however the granolith will transfer the seal from Max to Zan.”
“Why, what’s the difference with Zan” Alex asked.
“Well he is essentially a clone of the original Zan just like Max.” Liz answered.
“So are you going to? Because I don’t know what you’ve been doing in New York but I know that Max and I have spent nearly every vacation we’ve had learning to be the King and his second. Is Zany boy and my dupe just going to magically gain all the knowledge to” Michael scoffed.
“No your right Michael. Zan and Rath have never had any sort of training like the rest of us. Which is something that I will have take into consideration” Liz replied honestly. “Guys the last thing I want to do it take something away from you that you have worked so hard at and I want to bond for love, I hope I bond for love” she smiled looking up at Max “but even I realise that if I cant then I should base that decision on who will be the best King and possibly the best father since I will have to bear an heir eventually”
“So what happens now?” Isabel asked.
“What happens now is that Liz and I have decided to spend some time together and get to know one another. We both feel a very strong pull to be together and we want to work out whether it’s chemical or alien or whether it’s just us, Max and Liz,” answered Max.
“So now that truth comes out” smirked Maria
“What’s that?” Max asked embarrassed.
“Anyone can see that you and Liz have been making eyes at each other since she got here. Just admit it you broke up with the gerbil so that you could continue the little make out session you started at UFOnics last night” Maria laughed when both Liz and Max turned a very bright shade of red.
“So is that everything?” Isabel asked.
“Um no actually. I’ve decided to go to med school in New York” Max told them
“WHAT” they all chorused.

A/N I had this chapter and half of the next one writeen so decided to post it. I will keep up with this fic guys but it probably wont get updated as quickly as some of my others because i'm not very far ahead of the posting

Part 9

~ 2 weeks later~
Max and Liz stood embraced at Albuquerque airport, the rest of the gang watching on and feeling like they were intruding on the moment.
After the meeting Max and Liz had gone ahead and done what they told the group they had intended on doing. They spent countless hours getting to know each other, finding themselves falling more and more in love with each passing day. Their growing relationship was just another plus in Max’s plan to move to New York.
The group especially Michael had kept a close eye on Tess and by all accounts was just an upset girlfriend who believes her boyfriend dumped her for someone else.
The group would all be moving to New York in a few months, Alex to go back to MIT, Isabel to attend NYU, Michael would be working and pursuing an art course, Maria was also going to take a few classes at NYU and Max to Med School.
‘God I’m gonna miss you’ Max mumbled into Liz’s neck.
‘Me too but we’ll talk every other day and I’ll email you everyday I promise’ she replied.
‘I know’ he forced a smile but it never reached his beautiful eyes.
‘When are you gong to tell them?’ he asked finally. The group had agreed that Liz needed to tell the New York aliens the truth about her holiday. Privately, Liz had told Max that she was going to tell them about him and her too. Neither Liz or Max had made a decision yet about the future, Max knew without a doubt that Liz was the love of his life and was the only one for him. Liz felt the same but the closer she got to returning to New York the more guilt began to cloud her decisions.
‘I know we said no pressure but I cant let you leave without telling you’ Max started. Liz looked up into his eyes and saw everything she needed too right then ‘I love you Liz, so much that I am finding it almost impossible right now to let you board that plane without me’
‘I love you too, Max’ she smiled brightly ‘and in a couple of months we’ll be in the same city, and together’ she told him confidently.
“This is the final boarding call for flight 556 to New York City, all passengers please make your way to gate 5 immediately”
Liz turned to the group “See you soon in the big apple she smiled’. Max walked her to the gate and with a final kiss watched her make her way through the boarding gate. Before she disappeared from sight though she turned around and blew him a final kiss and using her hands signed that she loved him, and then she was gone.

Part 10
‘Home sweet home’ she signed as she walked in the door.

It felt odd to be back in New York and her apartment but small favours indicated that no one had been able to enter her apartment since she had left. [Thank god for the royal seal] she thought to herself.

‘Welcome home Liz’ came a voice from the door, Liz turned around to see her protector standing there with a very grim expression.

‘That bad?’ she asked.

‘Yes and they will be here shortly unfortunately’ he responded.

‘Good I need to tell them a lot’ she told him. ‘I met the King’ she smiled.
Nasedo looked at her strangely ‘Where?’

‘Roswell, New Mexico. That’s where they live’

Not to long after her comment Zan, Rath and Lonnie burst into the apartment, apparently very pissed.

“Where the fuck have you been Liz’ yelled Zan

“On Holiday” Liz replied making herself comfortable on the lounge, she was positive this would not be a short visit.

“How the hell am I supposed to protect you if you just go off without telling anyone where you are?’

“I’m quite capable of taking care of myself but thank you for the concern. As for where I was I went to Roswell New Mexico to meet a friend that I have been corresponding with for years’ she told him then and watched as he lost the entire colour in his face.

‘You went to Roswell?’

‘Yep and I met the others’ she answered.

‘Are you stupid, they could have done anything to you’ Rath yelled.

‘They’re not like that. I got along with them really well’

‘That’s because they’re going to try and get you to come over to there side to complete there four’ Rath bit back.

Liz sighed she realised that it was now or never. “Look there’s something that I need to tell you guys. I cant live my life like you guys’

‘What do you mean?’ Lonnie asked.

‘I’m the queen I have the royal seal given to me by the granolith’

‘Yeah you would’ve got it when the real queen died’ Zan said.

‘No. I have had it since birth I am the real Queen I should have been with the others in Roswell.’

‘That’s bullshit. They’ve filled your head with this shit’ Rath exploded.

‘It’s true’ Nasedo said then. ‘Liz is the Queen and Max is the king. Since birth I have been training Liz for her role just like the other protector has been training Max and Michael for there’s’

Zan looked at Liz then with anger ‘What else have you been keeping from us’

‘When I give myself to someone it will be for good, when I loose my virginity I will be bonding myself’

‘You’re a virgin, I thought you and Zan were kicking it’ Lonnie asked surprised.

‘If I bond with you the seal with transfer from Max to you Zan. If I bond with a human then Max will retain the seal and I would still be required to carry his heir’ she swallowed as she finished.

‘Then what’s the problem, you’ll bond with Zan and live happily ever after’ Rath added.

Liz looked at Zan then but remained quiet waiting for some sort of response to what she said. ‘I wont do that’ she whispered then.

‘I know it’s hard for you understand this but I want to bond with someone that I love’

Zan winced at her words it hurting him more than he could admit ‘and I wont do that to Max’

‘What do you mean? Why do you owe him any sort of loyalty’ Zan snapped.

‘Max and Michael have spent there entire lives training for this. It’s bad enough that we cant go home I wont take that away from them because I have known you guys longer’

‘You’re with him aren’t you?’ Zan asked then angrily.

Liz didn’t answer but she didn’t need to, Zan saw everything he needed to know in her eyes and without another word got up and left the apartment. Rath and Lonnie following quickly behind him.
