AUTHOR: Crashdown_51
E-MAIL: Torch_jo@yahoo.com
RATING: MATURE
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own any of these characters except
Ms.Whiteman, PR-17 and Reddeck.
SUMMARY: This is a continuation after "Viva Las Vegas"
COUPLING: Everyone, but more Max/Liz
NOTES: Please tell me what you think about my story. I’d
love to hear what you think.

A broken down house

"I don't want to even begin with how disappointed I am with all of you!" Valenti protested as he paced back and forth with his arms behind his back. The eight of them stood in a military stand, but with their heads staring at the tiles of the floor in resentment. "To even think that you guys would put me and your family's in such a position." Valenti stop pacing and faced Max, "Max, really. I expected more from you." Max tried to explain but no words would come out of his mouth, so he just looked down again.

"Hey! Lay off Valenti. We needed a break, o.k." Michael said after watching the unfair verbal attack towards Max. "A break!?!" Valenti yelled. "Yea, a break. I deserved one after what I've been through. After what we've all been through.”

Valenti walked towards him, "Michael. I understand what you’re going through. But you just can’t pick up and leave whenever you want, without have people asking questions!"

"Hey! Don't tell me you know how I feel. Cause you have no idea of what I'm going through!"

"Michael" Maria said calmly rubbing his shoulder.

"Dad, we're sorry!" Kyle apologized through the cold stares Michael was giving Valenti.

"Well, I'm sorry too." Valenti sat down as the others waited to hear what he was going to say. "Your parents have decided that your punishment would be decided by me and only me. The school has agreed also with my decision. You would begin reshaping this house until I'm satisfied with the results. But you all have to agree to my terms or you will be suspended."

"Well then, I don't agree.” Michael stated with a grim smirk on his face. “School was never a priority to me, so I'd guess your threat doesn't apply to me. "

"See Michael, I knew you would be the only one to rebel. So you ALL have to agree with the terms, and if one and only one of you disagrees, you all would be suspended!"

"Hey, I don't have to do anything!" Michael protested as he has walking out the door.

"Michael, you will do it." Hearing Valenti's say this with such assurance stopped him to continue hearing his empty-threat. "Parent or no parent, you forget this is a legal matter also." Valenti threatened.

"How?" Liz asked the question that ran through everyone's heads.

"Apparently, your little so called ' break ' was so needed, that you couldn't even wait until after school. Since Michael is considered an adult under the laws eyes, he kidnapped seven under age kids from school grounds..." Valenti began to walk towards Michael. "...And if you don't agree with my terms, Michael would be arrested and the rest of you will face a suspension and a discipline referral would be written and noted in your permanent records." Valenti walked behind Max and Liz, putting his arms around them, pulling them closer, "So, who doesn't agree?" Valenti asked as he sat in the reclining chair with a big smile as he kicked up his feet on the coffee table.

"You’re bluffing." Michael said facing towards him.

"Try me." Valenti warned.

Outside the house, in a parked car a man dressed in black sweats is talking on a cell phone.

"We have visual on all of the targets. Still no confirmation on individual identities."

They all exited the broken down house. Valenti took Kyle and Tess to his car, Max and Liz took off in the jeep and in Maria’s car she followed with Michael, Alex, and Isabel.

“Stand down and maintain visual contact. Do not breach the perimeter! Any sign of our girls?”

“Yes sir. All four of them.”

“Excellent progress, PR-17. Keep my informed, we wait till they’re alone…then we’ll attack.”

“Will do sir.”

At The Crashdown

“Can you believe Valenti? I mean how cold…using the school and Michael against us!” Maria was recapping the conversation as she picked up the empty cups on the tables while Liz wiped them off. “Liz!?” Maria yelled but Liz didn’t seem to hear her, being preoccupied with something else. “Liz!” Maria called again.

“Huh? Oh, Maria! Sorry.” Liz blushed. “What? Having another shower scene fantasy with Max in the girls’ locker room?” Maria asked with a small giggle, as she raised her eyebrows up and down, poking Liz with her elbow.

“No. It’s…it’s…different,” Liz laughed.

“Oh, God! He’s not in the shower with you this time. Is he?” Maria asked grasping to the collar of her uniform.

“Maria! I’m just thinking about Tess.” Liz confessed to Maria with a little chuckle after Maria’s previous assumption.

“Tess!? Why?” Maria asked with a shocked expression on her face. “I don’t know. I treated her kind of bad in Vegas. I just…”

“Liz seriously. She’s practically Max’s wife and not to mention the reason why you and Max are not together.”

“It’s not all her fault you know. She didn’t choose to be his wife.” Liz defended.

“Ohhhh, right. That whole destiny thing again. She must cringe at the thought of being with Max.” Maria said sarcastically looking at the ceiling.
Maria followed Liz to the back of the diner, to the lockers. “Liz, when are you going to snap out of it and go back with Max?”

“Maria, you know I can’t.” Liz said with sorrow holding back some tears.

“Why, because somebody who looks like Max told you?” Liz looked at her and began to notice she was headed with that remark. “For real Liz. Think about it. If this destiny thing was such a life threatening issue, would I be with Michael?” Liz looked up with tears in her eyes and understood what Maria was saying. “I mean if it was that critical, Michael wouldn’t be with me, but instead he’d be with that blond Barbie doll…”

The door flung open, swinging back and forth rhythmically, “Who’s a Barbie doll?” Isabel asked even though she overheard the whole conversation.

“Oh, nobody sweetie. Just somebody that looks like you.” Maria laughed.

“Ha, ha.” Isabel said rolling her eyes. “I see why Michael is so attached to you. Same dry sense of humor.” Maria smirked as Liz wiped her tears away with her back turned away from them. “I see we’re still in the ‘Max-depression’ world.” Isabel claimed, almost getting nauseous from witnessing such emotions towards her brother.

"What are you doing here?” Liz asked concerned on Isabel’s presence without Max or Michael. “Alex isn’t here.”

“I know. I wasn’t looking for Alex. I was looking for you guys.” Isabel dropped a world of shock on both of their faces. “I was hoping you guys would maybe want to hang out. You know like a normal friendship without the FBI, Valenti or Max and Michael.”

“Your kidding right?” Maria laughed, but stopped when she saw the expression of seriousness on Isabel’s face.

“Sure.” Liz said accepting with a smile. “I was thinking about the same thing. Maybe we should ask Tess to join us too?”

“Oh, yeah! Girls night out!” Maria yelled.

Broken down house the next day

“Well it’s good to see you all could make it…” Valenti scanned them up and down, but stopped when he saw Michael, “Michael. Glad to see you could make it,” he said smiling as he walked away.

“Yeah, whatever. Let’s just get this over with.” Michael hated how Valenti was using him over them.

“Now for the rules and regulations.” Valenti said rubbing his hands together in a scamming manner. “Let’s see…Liz and Tess in the kitchen. Isabel and Alex in the office. Michael and Max in the bathroom. Maria and Kyle in the living room. When your done come back and get your next assignments.”

Isabel, Tess, Michael, and Max looked at each other and smiled. “Oh and before I forget. There would be absolutely no use of powers in the remodeling. If I find out there was tampering, and I will, there will be double the work and double the sentence for all of you. I’ll be watching all of you.” Valenti warned with his finger pointing at them. “Come on! Let’s get to work,” he said clapping his hands together. They all separated into different rooms to begin the work.

The Kitchen

“I can’t believe we have to do this.” Tess said as she sprayed the cleaner on the refrigerator. “Yeah, well he could be pretty strict sometimes, especially now that he knows ‘everything’ now.” Liz giggled.

“Um…Tess?” Liz stopped wiping the counters.

“Yeah?”

“I’m sorry for being so Mary Poppins on you the other day in Vegas. I guess I must be really dull, huh?”

“It’s not that, Liz. It’s just…you’re the type that has never needed to break the rules. Since I was always on the run, I guess I’m just use to breaking the rules.”

“Look Tess. I know we haven’t been the best of friends, especially with this whole Max issue, but I would like to get to know you better.”

“You mean like starting all over?” Tess asked confused at Liz’s proposition.

“Yeah, like…‘Hi. I’m Liz Parker!” Liz introduced herself with a smile as she held out her hand. “Tess Harding. I’m new here.” Tess replied shaking Liz’s hand, following along with her game.

“A couple of friends of mine were thinking about movies, pizza, makeovers. Your welcome to come…that is if you’re not busy.” Liz asked.

“Sure, I’d love to.” Tess smiled back, “What should I bring?”

“Toothbrush, pillow, blanket, and everything else you use. It’s a sleepover.” Tess nodded her head and they both smiled.

The Bathroom

“I can’t believe Valenti! Blackmailing us like that.” Michael said as he was knelt down scrubbing the outside of the toilet. Max suddenly busted out laughing. “What’s so funny?”

“Nothing. It’s just…could you imagine what ‘our people’ would think if they saw us like this. Their leader and his second-in-command scrubbing the toilet of another man’s bathroom.” Max continued to laugh.

“Yeah, laugh it up Maxwell, cause when the ‘second-in-command’ is scrubbing the outside of the toilet…the ‘leader’ will be scrubbing the inside.” Michael said grinning. Max stopped laughing and they both stood up and tip their heads over the toilet, and noticed it bubble. Max swallowed his breath and Michael slapped him one time on the back, “Good luck.”

The Hallway

“Another bedroom!” Isabel said closing the door.

“Yeah, same here.” Alex yelled.

“What is that three already?” Isabel counted. “We’re never going to find the office!”

The living room

“This is like so not funny. I’ve seen the restaurant in better conditions.” Maria complained as she picked up a torn bag of potato chips from the tips with her thumb and pointing finger. “God! What’s that smell? I feel sorry for whoever lived in this dump.”

“Maria! Are you going to clean or complain?” Kyle yelled frustrated on Maria’s whining.

“Well, I’m sorry I don’t live like an anim…oh! Oh!” Maria started screaming and pointed to the T.V.

“What?! What?!” Kyle asked, startled by Maria’s yell.

“I saw something move.” Maria said standing on top of the couch with on hand over her mouth and the other on her stomach.

“Where?” Kyle asked, kneeling on the floor to look around.

“Under the T.V.” Maria pointed and shivered at the thought of what it could be. Kyle began to laugh, “What?! What is it?” Maria asked while Kyle stood up and showed her a black ball.

“I must have kicked it.” Kyle told her.

“Oh.” Maria said embarrassed after her performance and began to pick up around, but still looked around just incase.

Later on that night at Liz’s place

A knock was heard on Liz’s bedroom door. Liz ran to open it with a spoon in her mouth. “Hi, Tess. Glad you could make it.” Tess walked slowly to the center of the room, holding the strap of her bag over her shoulder. She noticed Maria and Isabel already in their nightgowns, watching a rerun of ‘I Love Lucy’ while eating the ice creams that was in the middle of them.

“Hi.” Maria and Isabel said simultaneously.

“Hi.” Tess said uncomfortable.

“You could change in the bathroom.” Liz pointed in the direction of the bathroom. “We haven’t started the movies yet. We were waiting for you to come.” When Tess came out of the bathroom Liz was popping in the video into the VCR.

“So what are we watching?” Tess asked grabbing the casing of the video as she sat down next to Isabel. “Fear? Never seen it.” She stated after reading the cover. Tess looked up at them, they all looked surprised.

Maria’s spoon fell out of her mouth, “Your kidding right?” Looking at Tess’s reaction she could see she wasn’t, “You’re not kidding. Well, Tess there’s a first time for everything.”

Isabel smiled rolling her eyes as Liz handed her a spoon, “Ah, yes we have Tabasco and non-Tabasco.” Liz waved her hands around the ice cream as if it were on display.

“Definitely Tabasco!” Tess said while dipping her spoon into the ice cream, making them laugh.

At school by Tess’s locker

Maria, Isabel and Liz come up to Tess. “Hi Tess. You want to get some lunch?” Liz asked.

“Sure. Where?” Tess asked.

“The mall.” Isabel blurted out before Liz could say where.

“Yea, Isabel’s second home.” Maria said giggling.

The school parking lot

“Hurry up! I think I see Michael!” Liz yelled running to the passenger side of Maria’s car. They began to drive to the mall. Tess is sitting behind Liz and Isabel is sitting behind Maria.

“Great! Now he’s going to tell Max. I’m telling you, your brother is getting a little over protective on us Isabel.” Maria said hitting the steering wheel then looking at Isabel through the rear view mirror.

“You don’t need to tell me, I live with him! At least you guys don’t have somebody checking up o you every five minutes.”

“Uh…hello!” Tess said putting the tips of her fingers below her throat so they could acknowledge her. “I’m the one living with the one who has us working in that god awful dump.”

“Not to mention Deputy Kyle.” Maria laughed, “Sorry, but at least your mom doesn’t check your room every night at least once to make sure theirs no one sleeping with me.”

“Michael got caught in your bed?!!” Isabel asked surprised.

“Well, my mom checks my room every morning. Ever since that day with the orbs…” Liz trailed off trying to avoid mentioning Max. Plus, she just wanted to take the spotlight off of Maria.

“So did you guys sleep or…” Maria stopped Tess with a mouth full of words. Realizing Tess’s insinuation Maria rapidly answered, ”We only slept!” Isabel, Tess, and Liz shared a giggling look on Maria’s aggravation.

Outside the school cafeteria

Man #1: “The girls are on the move, but the guys are all still here.”

Man #2: “We maintain our position. The guys are the ones we want.”

Man #1: “Sir, we could use the girls as bait, they seem to be their weaknesses.”

Man #2: “Good observation, PR-17. Set it up and inform me with the details, ASAP.”

Man #1: “Will do sir.”

Inner cafeteria

“They just left!” Michael paced around Max, while Kyle and Alex ate their sandwiches, following Michaels’ movements with their eyes. “I don’t like this Maxwell.” Michael crossed his arms waiting for Max’s response. “Max, there up to something.”

“What would you like me to do Michael? Stalk them?” Max said sarcastically.

“Stalking is more Michael’s field.” Alex said regretfully after the looks that Michael was giving him. Kyle busted out laughing.

“Let it go Michael. What’s wrong with you? You think they’re plotting against you or something?” Kyle asked.

“They’re with Maria.” Michael pointed out with the movement of his eyebrows.

“Oh!” They all said smiling, getting at what Michael was hinting at.

In the mall

Maria and Isabel leave to use the bathroom, while Liz and Tess wait in the food court for them. “Um…Liz?” Tess asked. Liz looked up at her with a straw in her mouth, “Did you really mean all of those stuff back at my house?”

“What stuff?” Liz asked with a little wrinkle on her forehead.

“The stuff you said about Max…about being in love?”

“Yes.” Liz responded without hesitation. “I love him. I’m miserable without him. Sometimes…I feel like…like a big part of me is missing. Everything I see reminds me of him…my first and only love.” Liz looked down, trying to hide the tears of pain on bringing Max up again.

“I’m sorry Liz.” Tess said putting her hand on Liz’s shoulder for comfort.

“Do you love him?” Liz asked letting out a trail of tears.

“Yes…but not like you do.” Liz looked up at Tess’s sincerity and began to cry. “I know I’m suppose to be with him, cause of what we are, but I don’t love him. I’m sorry I tried to separate you two. Liz, I was just reminded everyday on who I was suppose to be with, and never asked who I wanted to be with. It just got…confusing.” Tess confessed beginning to cry as well. “But you and Max belong together, not separated. I’ve seen him and he’s not Max without you.” Tess said smiling.

“But what…what about…” Liz was too broken up to finish what she wanted to ask.

“What about our destiny?” Tess finished her question and Liz nodded. “That’s just it. Being with him is not my destiny but yours.” Liz and Tess smiled and gave each other a tight hug.

“Thank you!” Liz whispered in Tess’s ear.

“Make him happy.” Tess replied.

“What’s going on?” Maria asked.

“Oh, nothing. Liz just decided to try and get back together with Max.” Tess said bringing Maria and Isabel up to date. They all screamed of happiness but gained control by the stares of the other shoppers.

In Liz’s house

After school Maria, Liz, Tess and Isabel are all sitting on Liz’s bed chatting about Max, Michael, Alex and Kyle. Then all of the sudden the door flung open and Liz’s mom appeared on the door. “Oh! Sorry girls. I just thought…I thought…never mind.” Mrs. Parker cupped her check in embarrassment and exited the room, closing the door behind her. The girls didn’t even have time to react for how startled they were, until Liz broke the silence.

“See! This is exactly what I’m talking about. I can’t wait till I have my own apartment.” Liz said in rage, knowing that her mom thought Max was in her room.

Maria had a big smile on her face, “Guys that’s it!”

“What’s it?” Isabel asked.

“We should get our own apartment. For the four of us.”

“Get real Maria. I could really see our parents letting us. It would never happen.” Liz said throwing herself on the bed, clutching on to her pillow.

”No, no. Hear me out. If we get something near by, cheap, and promise to visit everyday or something, I’m sure they’ll let us.” Maria said twirling the corner of her pillow with her fingers. “She’s right! Liz, do you have a newspaper?” Tess asked.

“Yeah there’s one downstairs. I’ll go get it.” Liz ran downstairs and snagged the paper, running back up the stairs in record timing. After they finished planning their proposal, they would take it to their parents tomorrow.

At the Crashdown

The next day, the Crashdown was closed for an hour. Diane and Jeff Evans were sitting across from Amy De Luca and Valenti in a booth, while Liz’s parents sat in two separate seats. Isabel was the one propositioning everything, seeing how she was the only one out of the four of them that had gotten into the least amount of trouble. “See that’s why we need our own place.” Isabel finished explaining.

“Your just to young, all of you.” Liz’s mom stated.

“Mom, look. We get an apartment for a month or two. If it doesn’t work out, we’d come back. Tess and Isabel would get a job. Maria and I will continue to work here. We’ll check in every other day by phone or visitation. We’ll look for an apartment near the school, giving us no excuses on being late or absent. It would be the four of use, so we won’t be alone, trust us.”

Diane was impressed on how organized and prepared the girls were for this. “I trust you, sweetie. So therefore it’s ok with me. Isabel ran to her mother and hugged her.

“Me too.” Amy smiled.

“I don’t know.” Liz’s mom said. “I could understand how you could be uncomfortable with this, but I trust my daughter, just like how I trust Liz and Maria. Don’t you trust them?” Diane said putting a big smile on Isabel’s face. Liz’s mom finally gave in and stated that Liz had to check in every other day. Liz nodded and hugged her.

So far everyone accepted except Valenti. Tess sat next to him holding his hands, “I know you’re not my father, but I sure see you as one. I’ve been through so much and you and Kyle have been wonderful towards me. I don’t really need your permission…but I’m asking you…please!” Tess finished it of with battering her puppy-dog look at him and he finally accepted trying to hold back the tears. The girls all yelled, hugging each other and than hugged their parents.

Outside the Crashdown

Man #1: “Did you get that?”

Man #3: “Yes, it’s being organized as we speak. And we didn’t even have to make a shadow
apartment, there’s one that we could use that an old lady is renting out.”

Man #1: “Excellent. Is she one of ours?”

Man #3: “ No, sir. She’s your typical Roswell human citizen. We got lucky on this part.”

Outside Isabel’s house

The next morning Isabel, Liz, Maria and Tess are sitting on the front door steps looking through the newspaper for apartments. “Oh, look at that one!” Tess pointed out.

“Nope, too expensive.” Maria sadly said.

“Hello ladies.” A tall, well-built man in his early 20s walked up to them, dressed in a postal uniform. His shaded eyes were covered by the cap he had on his head.

“Hello.” They all said with a cheesy smile.

“What are you guys doing?” the man asked in reference to the newspaper.

“Why?” Maria blurted out bluntly, but caught an elbow to her side by Isabel.

“What she meant was, were looking for an apartment.” The girls laughed noticing Isabel’s obvious flirt.

“Oh, yeah? Believe me that it’s harder than it seems. I’m looking for an apartment as well.”

“Really?” Isabel asked. The other girls just kept quiet, letting Isabel work her magic.

“Yeah. I found an apartment about a mile from here, but it’s a beautiful, 5 bedroom, $400 with utilities included.”

“Wow! Sounds like a real deal. But why didn’t you take it?” Liz asked to see if they still had a chance to apply for the apartment.

“No pets. And I doubt they’ll make an exception for me and my two rockweilders.” He said with a grin handing her a bundle of envelopes bound with a rubber band, “Well, anyways. Here’s your mail. Sorry about going on like that.”

“If you don’t mind me asking. Is the apartment still available?” Liz asked hopefully as he was walking away.

He walked back towards them, pulling out a red marker from his back pocket, “It’s right here on page 3A,” he circled the ad and handed the newspaper to Liz. “I’ll see you around. Good day ladies,” he said tipping his hat in courtesy and walked away.

“Can you believe that?” Liz said excited.

“Yeah. He didn’t even ask for Isabel’s number. Or any of ours might I add. There was some serious flirting going on there and nothing. I think your losing your touch Isabel.” Maria pointed out.

“Not that! The apartment. It’s perfect for us. It even has one room more than we need.” Liz re-informed them since it was obvious they paid no attention to what the postman said over the apartment.

“Let’s go check it out.” Tess stood up from the step that they were sitting on.

“Now?” Maria asked.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Tess said grabbing Maria’s arm and pulled her towards the car.

“Wait! Shouldn’t we tell your mom where were going?” Liz asked.

“Alright! Alright, if that would get you to calm down.” Isabel jogged inside her house.

Inside the Evans’ kitchen

“Mom! Were going to check out an apartment, I’m putting the ad on the refrigerator. It’s the one that’s circled in red. Bye!” Isabel said quickly, kissing her mom on the cheek and bolted out the door. Isabel noticed that they were all waiting in the car and cheered. “Let’s go!”

Man #3: “The girls are on the move. Heading towards the apartment. Soon.”

At the apartment

‘Ding! Ding!’ Isabel rang the doorbell. They stood waiting around, but no one answered. A man wearing a chef’s hat and a ‘kiss the cook’ apron came from the side of the house.

"Can I help you ladies with something?” the man asked twirling the spatula he had, in his hand.

“Um…yeah. We’re looking for the person that’s renting the apartment. Is that you?” Liz asked the man.

“Oh, no. The person you’re looking for is Mrs. Whiteman. But you have to go through the back, the doorbells don’t work.” He began to lead them towards the back in a straight line, with him ahead of them. “She’s been living here for 25 years and she’s finally remodeling the place.
From what the construction guy told me, it would be done in a week.”
When they reached the back door, Maria and Isabel were hit behind their heads and knocked out cold, while Liz and Tess were held down and injected, soon losing consciousness.

“Let’s get them to the building.” The man said taking off his hat and apron, then picking up Liz and carried her to the van. The three other men picked up Isabel, Tess, and Maria, and took them to the car as well.

Evan’s House

Two hours later, Diane was beginning to get worried but was a bit
relieved when she hard Max come in. He came holding a pizza and laughing with Michael, “Hi mom, want some pizza?”

“Oh Max! Thank God your home.” She ran and hugs him and managed to hug Michael as well.

“Mom what’s wrong?” Max asked as he handed the pizza to Michael so he could lay it down on the counter.

“Your sister and the girls aren’t back yet. They were suppose to check out an apartment two hours ago and I still haven’t heard from them.” She whimpered out then she placed her shaking hand over her mouth trying not to hold back a cry.

“Mrs. Evans everything’s fine. We just saw them a couple of minutes before at the pizza place. Right Max?” Michael asked making Max agree with him.

“Yeah, mom. That’s right. They said that they might catch a movie ad stay over at Tess’s house.” Max cringed at the thought of lying to his mother again.

“Thank God! I was so worried. Since the left here in such a hurry to see that apartment…” Diane said taking a deep breath.

“What apartment?” Max asked confused.

“The address is on the refrigerator.” Diane pointed in the direction of the ad being held by an alien magnet on the frig door.

“No. I meant why would they be looking for an apartment?”

“You mean your sister didn’t tell you. The girls and her are moving in together temporally.” Diane brought them up to date on the events and terms that they had given the girls at the Crashdown. Michael was thinking that they were losing time listening to the details and tried to
get them out of it. Walking towards the table to where Max and his mom were sitting at, Michael snatched the ad and slid it into his jacket pocket, unnoticed.

“My wallet!” Michael said patting his pockets looking for his wallet. “I must have left it at the pizza place.”

“Okay, well go get it,” he said then turned back to his mom, “You’re sure that you’re ok mom?” Max asked concerned.

“Yeah, fine. Hurry and get Michael’s wallet before someone takes it.” She persisted, reassuring Max that she was fine. Max grabbed his black leather jacket that was placed over the couch and ran out the door. They hopped into the jeep and drove off to the Crashdown. Looking around, none of the girls were in sight. Max found a pay phone and tried reaching Liz and Maria on their cell phones, but both of their phones were turned off. Max then called Alex and told him to get Valenti and Kyle to Michael’s apartment. Alex didn’t hesitate. Hearing the tone of Max’s voice, he knew Max meant business, so he called Valenti as soon as he hanged up with Max.

“What do we do now?” Michael asked with his arm leaning over the pay phone stand.

“You got the address of that apartment, right?” Michael nodded and pulled the ad from his pocket. “Good. We’ll go there first.”

“By the time we’d get back. The others would be at my apartment…this place is not far from here.” Michael said running back to the jeep with Max.

Chapter 2

The Apartment

When they got to the apartment there wasn’t a soul in sight, but quickly noticed Maria’s car. They rang the doorbell and no answer. They walked to the back and saw the back door jarred.

“Michael.” Max called out signaling for them to go inside. Michael stopped trying to peer into the windows and pushed and walked in the door slowly.
‘Mmmmm’ was the sound they heard. They walked towards the sound and came upon an elderly woman bound to a chair with electrical tape and a phone wire. Michael and Max ran to her and removed the tapes.

“Thank you! Thank you!” the woman said whimpering.

“What happened?” Michael asked her, holding her up.

“Four men came and tied me up to this chair. I let them in because I thought they were the construction guys that were working on the house…but I never knew…I,” she couldn’t continue and began to cry.

Max held her for comfort, “Did you see four girls come here? They came to look at they apartment. Three blonds and a brunette?”

The lady backed up from Max and wiped her tears away, “Come to think of it. I heard some girls…young girls…talking to a man…and then…and then a lot of screaming!” Max and Michael looked at each other, hearing this only made them worry more. They began to head out and asked her if they should call the police to come over, but she gratefully declined
and bolted her door shut.

“They’re in trouble Max.” Michael said in a heartbroken voice.

“We’ll get to them.” Max assured him, “Get Maria’s car.” Michael jogged over to the car and sat in the drivers seat. “Damn! No keys.” He said hitting the steering wheel. He checked his pocket and pulled out his apartment keys. Having no choice, he passed his hand over one of the keys so it could match the ignition slot. He started the car and followed Max to his apartment.

Michael’s Apartment

When Michael opened the door, Valenti, Kyle and Alex were already waiting inside for them, “What’s going on?” Valenti asked.

“We think the girls have been kidnapped.” Michael informed them. “They went to check out an apartment…the old woman that was tied up told us she heard them struggling…and there’s no sign of them.” Michael said hitting a plastic cup of the counter.

“We have to find them.” Kyle protested.

“How?” Alex asked leaving them all speechless.

In a Underground Drain

Tess was waking up and she could hear a discussion going on between two men, "How much time do we give them?" a husky voice asked.

"Two hours is enough time, by then the tank would be filled with water. They should be noticing by now that their missing."A calmer voice said with an evil chuckle.

"How are you sure they’ll come?” the husky voice asked.

"Oh, for them they’ll come. I’ll bet their lives on it. They love thess girls.’"The calm voice said peering through a small oval window on the rusted door.

“Tess! Tess!” Isabel whispered. Tess saw blurs as she opened her eyes. Focusing her eyes, she finally saw Isabel dangling beside Maria. She looked up and saw four chains changing down from the ceiling, four chains that were wrapped around their waists’ pinning their arms and hands to their sides. Hold them way above the base of the tank. Tess began to hyperventilate.

“Shhh! Tess quiet! Calm down or they’ll come in here.” Maria warned her.
The moist, rusty room scared her but the thought of the men coming in frightened her so she took deep breathes to calm down. She began to look around the room again and saw two pumps on opposite sides of them. Pointing horizontally to the base. It was a dangerous drop down
and their feet dangled above their death.

“Where are we?” Tess asked.

“I think we’re at the water main. I saw the sign when we were being brought in.” Isabel said shaking her head from the throbbing pain. Isabel saw Liz lower than them and still unconscious,

“Liz! Wake up!”

“Why doesn’t she wake up?” Maria cried out, “Liz!”

“Okay, calm down.” Tess said, “We have to get out of her.”

“How?” Maria asked.

“First, we have to tell Max or Michael where we are. Isabel can you dream walk Max?” Isabel nodded and closed her eyes, the first three times were useless, but than she finally got in.

“Max! No you’re not Max. Kyle?” she asked confused. Kyle had been meditating to calm his nerves, unknowingly drawing Isabel into his subconscious.

"Isabel?" He sounded as surprised as she was. “Where are you guys?” Isabel did not respond, due the shifting of the pipes her concentration broke.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

Michael’s Apartment

“Isabel!” Kyle yelled out making them all face him. “I was talking to Isabel.” He said looking around to their shocked face.

“How?” Valenti asked. “I thought she couldn’t do that unless we’re sleeping.”

“Not really. She did it to Pierce once and she’s been practicing.” Max said pulling up a chair by Kyle “What were you doing?”

“Just meditating.” Kyle said confused. “Is that how she…she got into my head?”

“I think so. What did she say? Did she leave any clues on where they are?” Max asked but only got nods implying ‘no’ from Kyle. “She said my name and then I didn’t feel her anymore.”

“Try again.” Michael demanded and Kyle quickly closed his eyes and began to concentrate.

The Drain

“Something’s happening!” Tess said looking around franticly. The pipes began to release large amounts of water rapidly, the three girls began to scream and Liz was still unconscious. The pumps finally stopped ten minutes later, filling up the base and covering up to Liz’s waist, the water barely touched the rest of them.

“Isabel get Max again!” Tess demanded.

"I can't. He's too strong. You try using your powers." Tess nodded andclosed her eyes to focus, if it worked maybe she could mindwarp Max into seeing Tess and telling them where they are.

"I can't." Tess whimpered in defeat, "What ever they gave me it's not letting me use my powers. Try again, Isabel. You have to try again!"

“I didn’t get Max. I got Kyle.” Isabel said with fear in her voice. Tess was shocked but signaled Isabel to try again. Isabel closed her eyes and focused. This time it was easier for her to get in.

‘Kyle?’

‘Isabel. I’m here. Where are you guys?’

‘We’re in Roswell’s Water Drain. You have to get Max and Michael!’

‘They’re here…with me. Are you guys okay?’

‘Yeah…uh…Liz is still knocked out. The rest of us are awake, she should have woken up by know. I think she' really hurt, Kyle.’

‘Is she breathing?’

‘I guess so. I mean her stomach's moving in and out.’

'Good. She’s fine then.’

‘Uh…’

‘What?’

‘Kyle the room is filling up with water. Liz is lower than us and the water is already up to her waist…oh no…it’s starting again…hurry!’

‘We’re coming to get you now!’ Their connecting broke.

Michael’s Apartment

Kyle awoke, “I know where they are.”

“Where?” Michael asked.

“At Roswell’s Water Main.”

“Come on! That’s fifteen minutes away from here.” Valenti informed them and they all headed out the door. Max and Michael jumped in the jeep, Max started the ignition then suddenly Kyle grabbed his arm.

“Max. The room their in is filling up with water and Liz…Liz has been unconscious since they’ve been there and…the water’s up to her waist. When I was talking to Isabel again it seemed like it was starting to fill up.”

“Hurry up! Get in your car and follow us, NOW!” Max demanded and drove off leaving tire tracks on the street. Valenti pulled up next to Kyle, Kyle hopped in and they followed Max to the water main.

The Drain

The drain began to fill up again and this time Liz was going under. They all began to panic when they could no longer see her head.

“Let’s try to pick her up with our legs.” Isabel said reaching out to her.

“We can’t reach her. Liz, babe, wake up!” Maria yelled with tears streaming down her face.

Chapter 3

Outside of the drain

“Okay I counted two on the left.” Michael reported crouching down behind a crate with the rest of them.

“Okay, so that makes five all together.” Max counted.

“That’s a little low on security don’t you think.” Michael speculated. “Don’t you think that’s a little risky?”

“For them, that’s a chance I’m willing to take.” Max said, “Maria’s in there…are you willing to leave her there?”

Michael looked down realizing that there were no options in this situation, “No.”

“Kyle, Valenti, and Alex we need a distraction so that Michael and I can go inside.” Max said with haste knowing all this talking was just using up time that they didn’t have.

“We got it covered.” Alex said while they split up. Michael and Max waited on the side of the building, waiting for the distraction. When they looked
over they saw Valenti and Kyle carrying Alex with a blanket over him, making sure that the guards see them.

“They got one of the girls!” a guard from the sidewall assumed, making them all run to attack. Kyle and Valenti jumped into the truck and drove off with the guards following in their cars. Giving the perfect opportunity for Max and Michael to enter undetected. They opened the door that led
down a flight of stairs, leading them to an opened rusty door that dripped water from the ridges. The walked in the room with extreme caution and the room that was outlined by a walkway and four chains hanging from the ceiling into an opening on the floor. Michael walked up to the opening and looked over, the four chains lead down into a pool of water. Three of the chains held Maria, Tess, and Isabel, but one chain was deep in the water.

“Maria!” Michael called out and his voice carried a faint echo.

“Mi…Michael?” she asked thinking for a second that she was delusional, then finally looked up and saw Michael’s face, “Michael!”

“Michael! Max!” Isabel called out.

“Max, hurry! Tess cried out. Michael aimed his hand towards the chain that held Maria and Isabel, and then let off an electrical charge, snapping the chain down from the ceiling. Then both Max and Michael dived into the water resurfacing with Maria and Maria.

“Get Liz!” Maria cried as she swam in place. Michael aimed his hand up towards the chain that held Liz and Tess to let off another electrical charge, snapping the chain down from the ceiling. Max dove under again to get Liz while Tess and Michael swam to the ramp Isabel and Maria were standing on. Max arose with Liz in his arms, still unconscious, and swam to were they all were. Michael helped pull Liz from the water to the ramp as Max pulled himself up and bent down over Liz.

“Liz don’t do this to me. Wake up Liz!” Max pleaded and began to perform CPR on her. At the third attempt to blow in her mouth, painful flashes appeared before his eyes knocking him down. Forcing himself to ask Michael to continue giving her mouth-to-mouth. Max registered everything in his head and blurted out “She lied!?!” Realizing he had left her, he pulled Michael out of the way and continued the process. Maria ran crying into Michael’s arms for comfort. “I love you Liz. Don’t leave me!” Max cried out and looked down when Liz began to coughing out the water she had taken into her lungs.

She looked at him in the eyes as he held her in his arms, “I love you Max!” Max leaned over and entwined their lips into a long passionate kiss. Max felt a rush of emotions flow through him, from her, love, confusion, passion, guilt, heartache, resentment.

He pulled away from her unwillingly and said, “We have to go.”

The guards hadn’t returned yet. Max helped Liz into the jeep and then quickly jumped in the driver’s side. Michael took the rest of the girl’s to where he had Maria’s car hidden and drove up next to Max. “Were going back to my place.” Max nodded and looked up when he saw Valenti’s truck driving towards them. Max and Michael drove towards them and Michael stuck his head out the window, “My place!” Making Valenti take a harsh right and followed their lead.

Chapter 4

Inside Maria’s car

“What the hell were you guys thinking going off alone like that? Maria?” Michael asked frustrated and scared.

"Michael, you don’t need to yell. Plus, how are we suppose to know where we could go without being endanger?” Maria asked.

Michael knew she had a point, they weren’t safe at anytime or place, “You just have to be careful. You scared the hell out of us.” Maria laughed inside realizing how scared he was for her even though he kept hiding his feelings with the word ‘us’ and ‘we’.

Inside Max’s car

Max and Liz exchanged looks through the silence. “Max, I…” Liz stopped talking when Max grabbed and kissed the surface of her hand.

“Liz. I know.” Max said in a calm soothing voice. A voice that she hadn’t heard in a while…a voice with complete and utter love. She shivered when he brushed his fingers over her cheek, Max realized that she was soaking wet and asked her to hold the wheel for him as he slipped his jacket off and covered her with it.

Liz blushed with gratitude and then asked again confused on Max’s previous remark, “I’m sorry. I don’t know what you’re talking about, Max?”

Max smiled and knew why she was lying, “I know that you didn’t sleep with Kyle…and I know why.”

Liz was stunned by Max’s words, “Max…I…I…” “Shhhh,” he said placing his finger over her lips

“I saw you…I felt you…when our lips touched.”

“What did you see?”

“You…and me. You pretending like you were marrying me in front of your mirror.” Liz blushed “Thinking that other me…the future me was a shape shifter and me…I mean him telling you to make me fall out of love with you.” Tears began to fall from Liz’s eyes. “What you put yourself through just to get me to believe you slept with Kyle, to save a planet that you’ve never seen…that I’ve never seen." Liz tried to make him stop before he made her cry non-stop from the painful memories he was reminding her of, “Wait. Let me finish, please.” Liz kissed his hand and he continued “I saw how you poured your heart out to Maria. Liz Parker, you’re my destiny. Tess would choose hers and I have chosen mine. I wouldn’t give you up for anything in the world. I love you, only you and I…” Liz silenced his pledge for love with a breath-taking kiss. So unexpected that Max swerved on the road, breaking away from Liz’s sweet lips to gain control of the car.

“I love you Max. I really do.” Liz sat down making sure Max’s focus was on the road. Either way his attention was on her. Max leaned over and turned the radio on. He began searching the stations until he paused on a low toned song.

Wild Horses- Sundays

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am,
You know I can't let you slide through my hands

Wild Horses couldn't drag me away,
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain,
Now you've decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Can make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild Horses couldn't drag me away,
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie,
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried,
Let's do some living after we die

Wild Horses couldn't drag me away,
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them someday

Liz closed her eyes, the breeze brushing through her face making her cheeks rosy and little strands of her hair being tossed by the wind as the white gloomy moon highlighted her face with a hint of light. She was perfect. Just the way he had always pictured her. His love, his Liz.

Wild Horses couldn't drag me away,
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them someday

At Michael’s Apartment

“I don’t get it. Why just take you guys? Why not all of us?” Michael asked confused as he grabbed two dish rags from the kitchen drawer and damped them with water. He tossed one to Alex and went to Maria who was sitting on the couch with a napkin of blood on her head.

“They could of thought they were aliens.” Alex assumed as he cleaned up the blood from Isabel’s head with the rag.

“Not likely. They just don’t pick people out of a crowd and assume their aliens.” Michael stated. “There has to be a reason. They must have known…”

“What that we’re…different?” Isabel asked avoiding the use of the word ‘aliens’, which always annoyed her.

“Michael’s right.” Maria agreed, “They must have known that…Ouch!" Maria yelled hitting Michael gently. "Like I wasn’t hit on the head or anything, really.”

“Sorry.” Michael said kissing the back of her head.

“Wait!” Max asked. “Liz are you ok?”

Liz looked at him confused, could he not see she fine. “Yes, I am.”

“Come on Casanova, we don’t need to hear your romantic scenarios now.” Michael said irritated on how he protected Liz at all times.

“Michael shut up!” Maria said envious wondering why Michael couldn’t be that way with her.

“Michael, why didn’t you get me and Kyle a rag to clean Liz’s and Tess’s head?” Max asked.

“Cause their not bleeding. I thought you just healed them.” Michael answered.

“I didn’t.” Max said.

“Then why aren’t they hurt like us?” Isabel asked.

“Oh. Rookies! Great.” Maria whispered as she rolled her eyes.

“What?” Michael asked her to repeat herself.

“It’s pretty noticeable that this kidnapping was unprofessional!” Maria pointed out, but everyone looked confused on her theory. “Uh…if they were really alien hunters, they would have known who we are. Maybe that will explain why they were knocked out longer than we were. Maybe they didn’t get hit on the head like we did? They probably found a drug that knocks aliens out for a while and when they use it on humans, it drugs them down longer. That’s probably why Liz was under so long.” Maria said chuckling after she heard what she just said. “Alien drug, real. Never mind. It’s probably the blow to the head talking.” Maria said semi-laughing, “But then…”

"But then, what?” Michael asked.

“Nothing it’s probably stupid anyways.” Maria said shaking her head to get rid of her thoughts.

“No. What?” Max asked.

“Why drug Liz and not Isabel?”

“Actually, that might explain a lot.” Maria looked at Max confused. “They probably knew that there are two of you that are like us and two of you that are human, but they just didn’t know which. Rookies. Just like Maria said.” Max concluded.

“Ok, so now what’s the plan?” Kyle asked, “We know there level off the game, but now what do we do.”

“There’s nothing we can do, but wait and be prepared for the unexpected.” Max said.

“What about us?” Liz asked curling up to Max’s chest.

“I already thought of that.” Michael announced, “From now on, you guys don’t go on any wild trips without one of us. Alone or in groups.”

“Seriously Michael. You don’t expect us to have you guys babysitting us.” Isabel laughed.

“It’s either that or risk getting caught or killed! Do you want that?” Michael yelled. The girls looked down and nodded ‘no’, knowing Michael was right. “They know you guys are our weaknesses, so they’ll try and use you as much as they can to get to us.”

“So what do you want us to do?” Maria asked, “Stayed locked in a room.”

“Don’t over exaggerate Maria.” Michael answered, “We’ll be hanging around. When you guys want to go out alone, just tell us where and we’ll be near by just in case. Oh, and the apartment idea has to go.”

“What!?!” Maria exclaimed.

“Wait. Michael.” Liz began to speak “What if those guys kept us over night? How would we have explained that to our parents if we were living with them? At least by having our own apartment we don’t have to keep making excuses for trips, kidnappings and God knows what else.” Finally convinced, Michael dropped the issue.

At the Water Main

Man #3: “I’m sorry sir, but we failed. The object was breached…we still don’t know how they found out where we were.”

Man #2: “I’m very disappointed. I expect results! I want their leader. He must have the orbs and the key.”

Man #1: “Yes, sir. We’ve searched the house of the one known as Michael, but there was no sign of the orb or the key.”

Man #2: “At least this mission wasn’t a total loss. We found out who the girls pair up with. What about this ‘Michael’ character?”

Man #3: “He appears to be the one they follow, possibly their leader. Plus, he used his power to save his mate.”

Man #2: “Really? How so?”

Man #3: “When I returned back to the drain he was breathing for her. The other one sat on the floor and watched.”

Man #2: “Interesting. What did we find about his mate?”

Man #1: “Her name is Liz. And she’s human.”

Chapter 5

At Michael’s Apartment

Michael had turned on his radio to calm the frightened mood that intoxicated the room. He was sleeping on the couch with Maria cuddled on top of him. Valenti had already taken Tess home and let Kyle stay to drive Maria home since Michael was already in his home, he didn't want her to drive since she got hit on the head. Isabel, Alex and Kyle were watching T.V. on the table near the door and Max and Liz were talking in the kitchen.

Wonder Wall- Oasis

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now,
you should've somehow
realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
feels the way I do
about you now

Max brushes the strand of hair that fell out of place, back behind Liz’s ear. She smiled with gratitude and at the thought of Max touching and kissing her again. She closed her eyes and buried herself deep on his chest. Max instinctively kissed the top of her head and rubbed her back, trying to make her fell safe.

Backbeat,
the word was on the street
that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

“I love you Max and if anything were to happen to me…” Max placed his lips on hers. Perfect fit, she was made for him.

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
but I don't know how

He tried to make her forget everything that happened and at the same time trying to make himself forget, “Shhh…that would never happen, cause your with me. Your what keeps me going through the day and keeps me awake at night. Your heart, your hair, your smile, your lips, your body…there’s absolutely nothing that you have that I don’t love.”

Because maybe,
you're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all you're my wonderwall

Liz blushed at Max’s confession of love towards her and bit her lip, “Max. I feel the same way…the way you feel…the way you make me feel…the way I can feel so safe in your arms. How did I manage not being with you or kissing you?” Liz moaned brushing her lips against Max’s.

Because maybe,
you're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all you're my wonderwall

“Relativity, Liz.” Max said giving her another heated kiss.

I said maybe,
you're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

“What?” Liz asked faintly from the Max’s kiss.

Stranded- Plum

You know it only breaks my heart
To see you standing in the dark alone
Waiting there for me to come back

“Being without you Liz…a second seemed like an hour …but being with you…an hour seems like a second.” Max said kissing her between each pause. He opened his mouth slightly so Liz could do the same. He was allowed access past her lushes lips that drowned in Max’s sweet intoxicating taste. She let out a low moan that combined with Max’s in each other’s mouth. She slipped her hands under Max’s shirt and felt every cut and form his muscles had with the tips of her fingers, causing Max to moan a little louder.

I'm too afraid to show
If it's coming over you
Like it's coming over me
I'm crashing like a tidal wave
That drags me out to the sea
And I wanna be with you
And you wanna be with me
I'm crashing like a tidal wave
And I don't wanna be

Stranded, stranded, stranded, stranded

“Ummm…we’re still here you know!” Isabel said amazed at the guts they had to be so public. That Max could kiss Liz so passionately and openly in front of an audience without being embarrassed, when Max is the shyest person she could think of. Max and Liz, forehead on forehead, grasped for air with a quirky smile on the face.

I can only take so much
These tears are turning me to rust
I know you're waiting there for me to
come back

When they broke the gaze they had in each other’s eyes they faced Isabel. She was standing by the end of the counter with her arms crossed and Alex was in the back laughing. Kyle was with a shocked look on his face Liz never had that reaction towards him when they were together.
Max noticed his expression, which made him uncomfortable, so he pulled Liz closer to him brushing the tips of his fingers on the exposed part of her honey toned stomach. Liz felt a rush of emotions run through her body, feelings of jealousy that came from Max. Liz turned towards him
and placed her hand on the back of Max’s head, Max tipped his head down and Liz whispered, “I need to talk to you,” in his ear. Max looked into her eyes and agreed without breathing a word.

I'm too afraid to show

Kyle watched how they out the door, Max still held on to Liz's waist, “We’ll be right back.” Max informed them.

I miss you, I need you
Without you, I'm stranded
I love you so come back

“Sure you will.” Alex laughed and Liz smiled at him. They walked out and closed the door behind them. “I’d give it an hour before they come back.” Isabel laughed at Alex’s comment.

I'm not afraid to show

Outside Michael’s door

Max and Liz were embraced in each other’s arms once again, enjoying the satisfaction of their lips being joined. “…Max…Max…” she pleaded.

“Yes?” Max asked as he broke away their kiss slowly.

“Don’t stop!” Liz moaned on the sence of his lips absence. Then Max clutched to her pulling her closer, holding her softly in his arms.

“Wait…stop.” Liz asked unwillingly, remembering why she had asked him to come outside in the first place. They caught their breaths and Liz kissed his hand.

“What is it?” Max asked impatiently.

“Max when we were in there…”Liz pointed in the direction of the Michael’s apartment, “did you…um…feel…I mean…towards Kyle when he was looking at me?” Liz asked stumbling on her words, embarrassed at the thought that Max could be jealous over her.

Max looked perplexed, “Feel what?”

“You know…um…je…”

Liz was cut off by Max, “Jealous!?” Liz blushed and looked down. Max pushed her chin up gently to connect to her eyes. “Yeah, I was. But why?” Max asked embarrassed by his confession.

“Because when you touched me…” Liz picked up his hand and placed it on her stomach and continued explaining, “…I felt what you were feeling, through my body.”

Max looked confused, “What do you mean by ‘feeling what I felt’? How?”

“I don’t know how.” Liz said amazed, “Some how I felt the way you felt when Kyle looked at me the way he did.”

Inside Michael’s apartment

Isabel and Alex stopped talking when they heard the door open and Liz and Max walk in. “It’s time to go.” Max told Isabel.

Michael and Maria had awakened by all the noise, “What’s going on?” Maria asked rubbing the sleep from her eyes. “Oh! From the looks of your lips I can see were all the commotion was coming from.”

Michael laughed at what Maria said, “Way to go Maxwell.” Max looked at Liz and her lips were all pink and puffy from all the kissing and smiled. Liz placed her fingers on her lips and felt her moist lips swollen and blushed.
“You guys leaving.” Michael asked.

“Yeah, it’s getting late.” Max reported. “I’ll take Isabel and Liz home. Kyle you're taking Maria and Alex home?” Max asked.

"Yeah.” Kyle said grabbing Maria’s keys from the table.

Maria got up to head for the door and Michael grabbed her arm pulling her down on his lap, “Call me later, ok.” And kissed the top of her forehead and then a small kiss on the lips. “Bye.”

“Bye.” Maria said stunned on Michael’s action. They all walked out the door waving and saying ‘bye’ to Michael.

The Crashdown

It was 10:30 in the morning and Maria and Liz were working the morning shift to get out early. The place was semi-packed due to the Saturday family breakfast. Max and Michael were sitting on the usual table, keeping an eye on their ladies. “Do you and Maria want to go out tonight?” Max asked Michael. “With me and Liz again.”

“Sure. Two questions. Where are we going? And do I have to pay?” Michael asked.

“Well, I haven't thought of anywhere. Someplace different. We already have gone to the movies and out to eat. And yes you have to pay.” Max answered.

“I know a place.” Michael said. He was about to tell him when Maria and Liz sat down with them. “I’ll tell you later.” Max nodded and drank from his cherry coke.

“Tell him what later.” Maria asked Michael.

“Nothing.” Michael lied.

“It doesn’t matter I don’t want to know anyways.” Maria bluffed, “Come on Liz if he doesn’t want to tell us it’s fine. We just won’t give them what we got them.” Maria said getting up.

Michael grabbed her arm, “What were you going to give us?”

“Nothing.” Maria said in the same tone Michael did.

“What is it?”

“I’m not telling you unless you tell me what you and Michael were talking about.” Maria said blackmailing him.

“Fine! Were taking you guys out tonight. Happy!” Michael yelled irritated on how persistent Maria could be. “Now what were you going to give us?” Michael asked like a little kid eager to know what his Christmas present is.

“Nothing, I just wanted to know what you told Max, that’s all.” Maria giggled and stole a kiss from him. Maria ran away to serve a customer. Max laughed and Liz kissed him on his cheek.

“What?” Michael asked mad after what had happened.

“You must really be in love.” Max laughed out.

“Yeah. How do you figure?” Michael asked.

“Because she completely did a ‘reverse psychology’ number on you and you had no idea.” Max laughed even more.

“Yeah, laugh it up Maxwell. Cause what you say right now is an exact reflection of you and Liz.” Michael said eating a couple of fries. Max and Liz gave each other a look and then smiled and kissed. She got up to help Maria with the customers.

“Hey Michael, do you think we should go back to that apartment and check up on that old woman?”

“If you want we could go right after Maria and Liz get off of work.” Michael proposed and Max agreed.

Maria walked over to Michael, “Hey, push-over. You want anything else?” Maria giggled.

“Funny. When does your shift end?” Michael asked. “We’re going back to the apartment to check up on that old lady.”

“What old lady?” Maria asked.

“It’s a long story. We’ll tell you later.” Max said.

“What? We found an old lady that’s renting the apartment tied up when we went to go look for you and untied her. End of story.” Michael summarized yesterdays event in a short statement.

“Ok. So maybe it’s not so long.” Max laughed.

“We’re off in a half an hour. I’ll go tell Liz.”

At the Apartment

The construction gear was cleared out, so they assumed the repairs must have been done. ‘Ding! Ding!’ Max held on to Liz’s hand and Michael did the same with Maria. “Who is it?” a small little voice asked behind the door. “Um…Ma’am. It’s the two guys that untied you yesterday.” Michael said.

“God, Michael. Can you be any more blunt?” Maria asked

“What? You want me to say ‘It’s Michael’ and she’ll just open the door.” The chain and bolts could be heard unlocking and the old woman appeared at the door.

Inside the apartment

“I never got to thank you two brave gentlemen for helping me yesterday.” The old woman said walking them into the living room of the first floor apartment. “Please sit…um…I never got your names.” She said sitting down on baby blue cloth recliner.

“Well, I’m Max Evans,” he said pointing to himself and then pointing to Michael, “and this is Michael Guerrin.”

“I see. And are this your sister’s?” The woman asked in reference towards Liz and Maria.

“No.” Max said with a chuckle, “This is my girlfriend, Liz Parker and that’s Michael’s girlfriend, Maria DeLuca.”

“They were the ones we were looking for when we found you.” Michael informed her.

“Oh, you must be Mrs. Whiteman.” Liz recalled.

“Yes, but how did you know.” The woman asked surprised.

“Before we got…well, we came to check out the apartment you have for rent. The man from next door told us your name and that you’ve been living here for 25 years…” The woman interrupted Liz frantically.

“What man? No one lives next door.” The woman asked.

“Wait. There has to be. He was barbequing and had the whole outfit.” Maria said in denial.

“No. No one for the last 25 years I lived here. But how did he know how long I lived here? What else did he say to you guys?”

“He told us that you were remodeling and that in a week it would be done.” Liz continued to tell her.

“Can we leave them here? Michael and I are going next door to make sure no one’s there.” Max asked the old woman, as Liz held on to Max’s hand tighter, as a sign to be careful. “We’ll be right back. I promise.” And bent over and gave her a semi-long kiss.

“We’ll be back.” Michael said kissing Maria quick.

“Be careful.” Maria said worriedly stealing another kiss. Maria but her arm around Liz as they watched the jog next door. When they turned around,
Mrs. Whiteman had a thin smile on her face outlined by small, scattered wrinkles.

“You both look so in love.” Mrs. Whiteman said still smiling. “Come. Sit.” She waved her hand in the direction of the huge couch.

Maria and Liz smiled, “We are.” Liz said happily.

“So you four were thinking about moving in together.” Mrs. Whiteman asked nosily.

“Oh, no. It’s me, Maria, Max’s sister Isabel, and our friend Tess.” Liz informed her.

“Oh! Just you four girls, huh?” Mrs. Whiteman asked, “From the looks of it you all seem like nice kids. So if you’re still interested in the apartment... it’s still available.”

“Uh…is everything we read on the ad true? Or is it an allusion from our kidnappers? Maria asked before agreeing.

“Yes. The ad is all true.” Mrs. Whiteman laughed.

“Then I guess you got yourself some new tenants.” Maria said shaking her hand.

Chapter 6

Michael’s Apartment

“You girls ready to go?” Michael asked impatiently. They agreed that Maria and Liz would change at Michael’s while Max and Michael finished the final details of the evening plans. They all agreed that whatever their attire would be they would have to match it with a black leather jacket. This was Michael’s way of showing that they weren’t going anywhere fancy. Tess, Kyle, Isabel and Alex were handling the packing for Maria and Liz and the move, so that by tomorrow afternoon they were settled in.

Inside the bathroom

“Liz! Max is going to drop dead when he sees you.” Maria said impressed at her makeover.

“What about you? Michael is going to eat his witty remarks when he sees you.” Liz giggled.

“I don’t think they’ll even let us go out, looking like this.” Maria said checking herself in the body-length mirror she made Michael buy.

“Ok. I think that’s enough ego-boosting for now.” Liz laughed. They called out that they were ready and that they were calling.

Michael and Max wear dressed semi-formal, holding both 12 dozen roses sprinkled with Babies Breathe, which Max suggested was a must after rescuing you girlfriend. Max gelled wet hair look did wonders with his matching silver chain and wristband. He had on a black leather jacket, over a white buttoned up shirt with matching dark blue jeans with black boots, and a light splash of Cool Water colon. Michael had the back of his hair slicked back and the front tips of hair above his forehead gelled pointing up. He also had a black leather jacket over a blue dressy shirt with black jeans and golden boots. His usual thick silver rings on his thumbs and a matching chain to go with it. The lock was released and the bathroom door opened little by little, giving off a small squeak. Maria and Liz walked out and saw an instant reaction on their faces. They were amazed on how beautiful they looked and they were impressed on how handsome the looked too.

Maria straightened her hair and curled the tips. She passed her hand through her hair causing hair to overlap more to one side of her head. She had on a black, nylon knotted top. It was a deep v-neck with the knot at the center, the seam was across the chest, and it exposed a huge majority of her stomach. It was under the black leather coat she had on which matched with cotton blue jeans, 18” Capris with an exposed button and waistband. Black glitter crash cuffs around her wrists, tie knot casual black sandals, and a silver anklet to cover the nakedness of her bare ankle.

Liz made her hair wavy, in a high up ponytail w/ small tendrils of hair balancing down, showing her thin silver loop earrings that were 2 sizes bigger than a quarter. Her eyes were shaded with a black liner and eye shadow to give them the smoky eyes look, and she glossed up her lips with nude lipstick and some lip-gloss for shine. She had on a leather jacket that covered her just above her waist. Underneath she had on a black Polo open-back, hand crochet halter sweater that came above her waist and exposed her stomach and bare back. For a bottom, she wore a black, nylon/polyester hip-hugger skirt, with a slight A-line, a side-seam 5” front slit above her thigh, and a glitter chain belt that dangle across her waist. And since she had such a short skirt she decided to top it off with some extreme boots, 3 ½” heels with a side-zip closure.

“Wow! You guys look great.” Max said in disbelief, especially towards Liz, never seeing her dress so provocatively. Michael just looked, more like gawked, at Maria. Maria smiled on how speechless he was. They both handed them the bouquets of roses, which followed by Maria and Liz smelling them and mentioning how beautiful they are. When they finished putting the roses in a vase Michael had above his frig, they were ready to go. Max lead Liz out the door, not being able to hold his urge, to slip his hand under her leather coat, and touch the soft skin of her stomach.

“Where are we going?” Maria asked.

“Dancing?” Michael said, waiting to fulfill the moment of Maria’s shocked face.

Chapter 7

Club Zombie

It was about a 20 minute drive before they came upon the club ‘Zombie’, it was not even packed, meaning they were able to walk around without being pushed into anyone. The majority of the girls dressed gothic while the other half dressed trashy. It was mostly slow jams that they played, since the owner’s sister had just gotten engaged. The guys were dressed up casual or in business suites. Max and Michael noticed the hungry eyes the guys had when they saw Liz and Maria, which made them grab on to them a little closer. Michael and Maria headed for the dance floor, while Max and Liz selected a table for them.

Dance floor

Strong Enough - Sheryl Crow

God I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I'd be the last to help you understand

Are you strong enough to be my man?
Nothing's true and nothing's right
So let me be alone tonight
Cause you can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?

Lie to me
I promise I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave

”You look amazing tonight, Maria.” Michael said staring into her eyes, while they danced.

“I know I don’t say it as much as you want to hear it…but…I…I,” Michael couldn’t say the words.

“You what?” Maria asked, but then Michael looked down.

I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
Just try and love me if you can
Are you strong enough to be my man?
(Are you strong enough?)
To be my man
(Are you strong enough?)
To be my man
(Are you strong enough?)
My man

“Michael?”

“That I love you.” Michael finally breathed.

When I've shown you that I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and I can't stand
Will you be man enough to be my man?

“I love you too, Michael.” Maria said with tears falling out of her eyes. Michael kissed her and held her tightly. She dug her face into his neck and continued to dance the rest of the song.

Lie to me
I promise I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave

The Table

“Hey, you guys.” A voice from the crowd that sounded a lot like Isabel, called out. The voice finally had a face, and it was Isabel.

Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera - Nobody Wants 2B Lonely

There you are
In a darkened room
And you're all alone
Looking out the window
Your heart is cold and lost the will to love
Like a broken arrow
Here I stand in the shadows
Come to me, Come to me
Can't you see that

“Isabel? What are you doing here?” Max asked startled.

“Relax, Max. Kyle drove me here.” Isabel giggled. “Michael said that if we were done unpacking we should come check this place out.”

Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry
My body's longing to hold you
so bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it's slipping away
and I've been waiting for you all of my life
Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don't you let me love you

“Who else is here?” Liz asked looking around from her seat.

“Me, Alex, Kyle, and Tess.” Isabel looked towards the door, “Oh, look. There they are.” She said pointing to the entrance. Alex spotted her and led them to her.

Can you hear my voice
Do you hear my song
It's a serenade
So your heart can find me
And suddenly your flying down the stairs
Into my arms, baby

“You want to dance Liz?” Max asked to spend some time with Liz.

“Yeah, sure.” Liz said taking off her jacket, “Can you take care of my jacket, Isabel.” Liz asked. Max’s mouth dropped at the sight of Liz’s exposed back.

Before I start going crazy
Run to me, Run to me
Cause I'm dying

“Yeah.” She said shocked by Liz’s appearance. “Wow! You look great.”

Liz blushed as her self-esteem boosted by such positive comments, “Thank you. We’ll be back.” She looked at Max’s stunned face, “What? Come on, let’s dance.” She said as she pulled him onto the dance floor.

Dance floor

The song had already started by the time they got on the floor.

Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry

Max began kissing Liz intently as he caressed her bare back. Liz had a huge effect on the touch off Max’s lips and the feel of his hands, so she snuck her hands inside his shirt to feel his body, his skin touch hers.

My body's longing to hold you
so bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it's slipping away
and I've been waiting for you all of my life

Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don't you let me love you

Max kissed her deeper, swallowing every moan out of Liz. But the moans soon got so intense that they had to move closer to each other to satisfy the crave their bodies were both longing for.

I want to feel you deeply
Just like the air you're breathing
I need you here in my life
Don't walk away, don't walk away
don't walk away, don't walk away
No, no, no, no

”Max!” Liz moaned. “Please.” Liz pleaded to him.

Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry

“Please, what Liz?” Max asked kissing her on her neck.

Nobody wants to be lonely
I don't want to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry
I don't want to cry

“Don’t stop. Please.” She pleaded once more. Kissing him and quickly brushed on his lips with her tongue and then kissed him once more.

My body's longing to hold you
I'm longing to hold you
so bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it's slipping away
and I've been waiting for you all of my life

“Now I’m the one that can’t stop, Liz.” Max whispered with a small laugh in her ear, “Your so beautiful.” He said as he slid his hands up and down her back.

Nobody wants to be lonely so why
Why don't you let me love you
Why don't you let me love you
Why, oh why, why, why, why, why

Nobody wants to be lonely
I don't want to cry
Nobody wants to cry
My body's longing to hold you
so bad it hurts inside
Nobody wants to be lonely
I don't want to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry

When they returned to the table, Alex, Isabel, Tess, and Kyle laughed at the two couples. “What a soap opera!” Isabel exclaimed. “You guys ready to go? We have a busy day tomorrow.” Isabel reminded them.

“I guess your right.” Max said looking at his watch.

Liz didn’t really care, she was to busy asking herself why she hadn’t kissed Max’s neck, ‘He looks sooo good!’ Liz thought, as she looked him up and down.

Max looked at her weird, and then smiled pulling her closer, “Don’t worry, there’s a lot of things I didn’t get to do to you tonight too.” Liz looked stunned and blushed when she realized that Max felt and heard her. Without touching her. Was their connection getting stronger? “We’ll go get the cars.” Max said in reference to him and Alex.

Then Kyle trailed behind him. “Where are you going?” Max asked. “I brought Maria’s car.” Kyle told him, “What? Do you expect to drive all three cars by yourself?” Kyle said hitting him on the side of his arm and ran outside.

Michael had his arms wrapped around Maria, giving her small peaks on her neck and lips. Isabel and Tess were closer to the door, talking about curtain colors for the apartment, while Liz stood leaning on a pole at the top of the stairs. Max had taken her jacket, as well as Maria’s, to the car so they would have to carry it, her arms were crossed and she slid her hands up and down her arms trying to get rid of the goose bumps she got from the cold breeze. But then a man from behind her, passed his fingers through her back, knowing it wasn’t Max she turned around frightened. It was the mailman from Isabel’s house! He was swaying every now and then. Clearly stating he had drank a little too much. “Hey there!”

“You scared me!” Liz said grabbing on to the chain around her neck.

“Aren’t we looking ravishing tonight?” He said looked her up and down. This made her uncomfortable. It wasn’t the same way Max had looked at her, with passion, desire, and love. He looked at her with bad intentions written all over his eyes. He grabbed her by her bare waist and held her tight. Liz’s scream brought Michael’s attention to her.

“Oh my God Liz!” Maria pointed out.

‘Max! Help me! Please! Max!’ Liz cried out. Max came running in from the parking lot when he felt a huge sence of fear and disgust come from Liz. He saw a strange man forcing himself on her, trying to put his hand up her skirt while Liz pushed his hand down.

“Get off her!” Michael yelled as he punched the guy across the jaw, making him fall and break the small wooden table behind him. The man got up and swung but missed at Michael, Max grabbed his shoulder turning him around and punched him hard on the face. Liz ran into Michael’s arms and he brushed her hair back trying to calm her down, backing down seeing that Max was handling the situation pretty good. Max was hitting him so hard that he didn’t even notice when his knuckles split. The guy swung and hit Max, splitting upper lip open. Michael placed his hand on Max’s shoulder, then taking Max’s hand and put it around Liz. Michael picked up the guy and dragged him outside. Max looked over Liz to make sure she was all right and saw two big bruises on Liz’s arm from the guy grabbing her so tight. Liz didn’t care about the bruises. She was looking over Max’s bleeding fists and lip. Max took off his jacket and put it around her, leading her outside.

Zombie’s Parking Lot

Max and Liz found Michael and Maria hugging on the car. There was no sign of the others or the mailman.

“Are you OK?” Michael asked when he saw them.

“Yes. I’m fine.” She said looking down, she took a deep breath and looked Michael in the eyes, “Thank you Michael.”

Michael smiled and shrugged his shoulders. “Max would have done the same if it were Maria. Like I said, we have to look out for each other.” Max helped Liz in the passenger side of the jeep and Michael took Maria to the passenger side of her car that was parked right beside of the jeep.

Max walked up to Michael and looked terrible, “What did you do to him?” Max asking in reference towards the mailman.

“Nothing. I think you handle yourself pretty well.” Michael said impressed by Max’s display of affection towards Liz.

“I don’t know what happened. But he had his hands…on Liz…I lost control.” Max said shaking his head, trying to figure out what happened.

“Max, that guy was hurting Liz and you and I both know what else he would have done if we weren’t there.” Michael said trying to explain it in his point of view, “I would have done the same if it were Maria.”

“No you wouldn’t.” Max said with a small grin “You would have killed him.”

“Your right. I would have. But I know I’ll have you to back me up or talk me out of it.” Michael said trying to console him.

“I should have known sooner, she was being hurt.” Max said blaming himself.

“Blaming yourself won’t help, Maxwell. How would you have known? Wait…how did you know she was in trouble? You weren’t even there.” Michael asked.

“That’s a long story.” Max told Michael, but then saw the reaction on Michael’s face. Max knew that Michael hated secrets being kept from him, either way sooner or later he was going to find out. “I’ll tell you at Liz’s. Can you ask Maria if she could stay with her tonight? I don’t think Liz wants to be alone.”

“Yeah…Alright.” Michael said getting into Maria’s car. Max jogged back to the jeep. Liz had the radio on at a soothing level. Max started the car and
drove out of the parking lot.

Bush - Mouth

You gave me this
Made me give
Your silver grin
still sticking it in
You have some machine soul machine
Soul of Machine

Liz looked tired, but Max looked worse. ‘Why didn’t I feel you sooner? Why did I leave you alone? God, him touching you...I could just kill him.’ Max thought as Liz looked out the window at the scenery. Liz suddenly received all the negative thoughts Max was thinking and began to cry. Max turned his head, scared on Liz’s hurtful cries. “Liz! What’s wrong?”

The longest kiss
Feeling furniture days
Drift madly to you
Pollute my heart; Drain

Liz sniffled and began to talk with a crackling voice, “Max! Do you love me?” Max looked shocked by Liz’s question, but answered with no delay.

You have stolen me
broken me stolen me broken me

Your loaded smiles and pretty just deserts
Wish it all for you
So much it never hurts
You have soul machine
Stolen me

Max looked angry as Liz explained how she felt, soon losing the rage when she began to describe how she felt with him. “But with you…” Max glanced at her and she kissed his hand, “…with you my body trembles. When you touch me, I never want you to stop. Your fingers.” She kissed the tips of his fingers, “Your hands.” She kissed his hand, then got up and kissed him passionately making the car swerve a little, “Your lips.” Liz sat back down and continued, “I can’t live without Max.”

All your mental armor drags me down
We can't breathe when we come around
All your mental armor drags me down
nothing hurts like your mouth

They pulled up by Liz’s balcony. Max didn’t even turn off the ignition. He gently pulled Liz and kissed her. Her sweet taste was once again in his mouth. He kissed her harder to make her moan. She cried out only making him want her more. Liz let Max’s jacket slide off her, freeing her naked back. She could feel his fingers dig down her soft back moaning louder, causing Max to moan on her excitement. They calm down little by little when Maria’s car pulled up. They smiled, never taking their eyes off of each other’s lips. Max kept running his fingers through her hair.

We'd been missing long before
never found our way home
We'd been missing long before
we will found our way

You gave me this
made give

Liz’s room

“So what’s this that I hear that you and Max can read each others thoughts?” Maria asked lying down next to her on her bed. “What is it with you two? Every time you have an urge you come out with some new ability. First, flashes and now ESP. What next Carrie?”

“Maria!” Liz laughed.

“See. That’s all you needed, a laugh or was it the action you were getting downstairs?” Maria raised her eyebrows up and down as Liz blushed.

“You saw us?” Liz asked smiling.

“Yeah. Getting kind of serious, Liz.” Maria got serious for a moment. “We had this talk before Liz. Spiders. Remember?”

“I can’t help it.”

“Well you better. We wouldn’t want you to do anything that you would regret after.” Maria warned.

“If I’m with Max, there’s nothing in the world that I would do with him and regret doing it, as long as I’m with him. I love him, Maria. So much. It’s like…like…my body craves him.”

“Wait a minute! Wait a minute.” Maria giggled waving her hands in disbelief, “Your body craves Max?”

Liz smiled and bit her lip ‘Yes! I crave him everyday. And when I get him, I can’t enough of him. God Maria. I wish you could feel this way about Michael like I feel about Max. Where’s Max? I NEED him on me.’

Outside on Liz’s Balcony

“So let me get this straight. You could feel what Liz feels and she can feel what you do?” Michael asked not believing his own words when they came out of his mouth. Max just nodded. “And now you could read her mind?”

“Not all the time. It’s when were close.”

“So how close do you have to be? Or are we talking ‘close’ close?” Michael insinuated.

“Either way.”

“So can you feel her now?” Michael asked and Max nodded. “So what is she feeling?”

“She’s happy. She feels safe because I’m…I mean…because we’re here. And she’s…she’s…” Max stuttered as he recognized Liz’s desire for Max increasing.

“She’s what?” Michael asked to continue. “Maxwell?”

Max blinked and apologized, “Oh, sorry. She’s talking to Maria about us.”

“How do you know? Don’t tell me you can you read her lips too!” Michael asked.

“Liz is thinking about you and Maria. On how she wished you two could feel what we’re feeling.” Max said smiling.

“Yeah right.” Michael patronized him.

“If you don’t believe me, why don’t you go in there and ask her.” Max tested Michael’s curiosity.

“All right. I will.” Michael said walking towards the window and climbed inside. Max followed right behind him and went straight for Liz. “Wwwwait.” Michael stopped Max, “I don’t want you to say something that might, you know, mess with my little experiment.”

“Max what’s he talking about? What experiment?” Liz giggled waiting for Max to come hold her. “Max?” she pleaded for him.

“Maria, hold Liz.” Michael demanded.

“What? Why?” Maria asked.

“We’re just going to test how real this new power they have.” Michael smiled. Maria laughed and held Liz back, away from Max.

Chapter 8

“Max?” Liz called out to him and he could feel her desire grow.

Max smiled and told her to follow along. ‘Liz! Michael just wants to know if we can actually feel and hear each other. Just play along, ok?’

‘Max, I’ll play along. But I need you. I need your body on me. I need to feel you.’

‘Liz! Don’t say that now…now that I can’t touch you. Please!’

“Ok. Here’s how I’m going to test you guys. I’ll ask Liz questions that Max could only answer and Maria, you’ll ask Max questions about Liz that she could only know. Ok. So let’s begin.”

“Ok. Maria. You go first.” Michael asked.

“Ok. Let’s see…oh there’s no way he could possibly know this one Michael.” She smiled and looked at Max, “What’s the pet name me and Liz use for you guys?”

Max looked at Liz, she was breathing deeply, and he was becoming aroused by her actions. ‘Liz, what’s the name?’

‘Max I don’t think I can take it much longer. I need you on me. I want you. Max!’

“Can we do this later?” Max asked trying to get to Liz, but Michael held him back and reminded him of the experiment. ‘Liz, please! Don’t say that now. Please! We can’t. The sooner we answer the faster they’ll leave us alone. Ok?’

‘Ok. But ask Michael that if we get this question right, can I kiss you.’
Max asked Michael if he could kiss Liz if he got the answer right and Michael agreed.

‘Ok. It’s Czechoslovakians.’

‘What? Why?’

‘Max just answer so I can kiss you, please!’

“I don’t know why but it’s Czechoslovakians.” Max answered looking at Michael.

“Czecha what? What the hell is that suppose to mean?” Michael asked as he looked at Maria and Liz, making them both smile.

“Hey! I don’t know, but I did answer the question right so can I kiss her.” Max asked impatiently.

“5 seconds. And I’m counting. We’re not done yet.” Michael said releasing Max. Max picked Liz up, so her toes were the only things that touched the ground. His lips connected with her immediately, caressing her back their tongues embraced and Liz put her hands inside his shirt. She pressed her body against his, he could feel her breast press down on his chest and he pulled her tighter to him. “Ok. Times up.” Michael said trying to pull them apart. First, their lips disconnect, then their bodies and finally the grip they had with their hands.

“What was that about?” Maria asked Liz silently.

“Cravings.” Liz said still looking at Max.

“Now it’s my turn,” Michael said. “What did Max and me argue about when we were in prison? No wait. He could have told you that. Ummm… I’ll ask Max a question. Now the answer to this question only me and Liz know.”

Maria and Max looked at both of them, “You two have a secret from us?” Maria asked a little broken up.

“Maria. Don’t get emotional. If it was something serious would I be asking it now?” Michael asked. Maria stayed quite, waiting for him to ask his question. “OK, Max. I found out who took Liz’s journal and got it back for her. Who stole her journal?”

Max looked stunned that Michael would go out of his way to get Liz’s journal. But then he remembered Liz saying she had written about Max saving her when she got shot and some other stuff that might have put their lives at risk. So he could understand Michael’s interest in finding her journal. ‘Who took your journal, Liz?’

‘Are you mad I didn’t tell you, Max?’

‘No. Why should I be mad?’

‘I just thought you might be, that’s all. Because I wrote about you and what you did in my journal.'

‘I could never be mad; I’m flattered if anything. So who stole your book?’

‘It was…Michael.’

“You stole her journal.” Max asked Michael with an angry and confused expression, “Why?”

“I had to know what she was writing about us. Relax. I gave it back.”

An hour later, Michael left and Maria went to change in Liz’s bathroom. Max was quiet and serious about the whole journal issue. Max was angry, and Liz felt his angriness all over her body. “Max what’s wrong?” She asked even though she had an idea of the reason.

Max looked up at her, “Michael read your personal thoughts, Liz. He broke into your house and took something from you. He probably read stuff that you haven’t told anyone about.”

“You mean stuff I haven’t told you?” Liz asked. “Max what are you really angry about, that he took my journal or that he knows things about me that you don’t?”

Max knew that Liz knew that's exactly why he was angry, “I’m sorry. It’s just that…I don’t know how to explain how I feel, Liz.”

Liz walked over to him from the dresser to the bed where he was sitting and held his hand, “Max. I didn’t know this meant so much to you. But all Michael read was things about you.” Max looked at her in her eyes, “I love you and that’s all my journal ever speaks about.” She gave him a sweet kiss, where his bottom lip disappeared between hers, and walked over to her nightstand. Max watched her carefully pull out a black binded book. It was her journal. She walked over and kissed him again, “Max, I didn’t want Michael to read about how I feel about you. Some parts of me wants to scream it out loud that I’m yours and in love with you. But if I wanted anybody to read my journal, I’d choose you, Max." Liz climbed in her bed crawling seductively to the head of the bed, while Max slid backwards in the same pace she was going. She laid half way on top of him, one leg between his and her head resting on his chest. His heartbeat was like a lullaby to her making it easy for her to fall asleep. Max kissed her on the top of her head and opened the first page of her journal.

Maria walked out of the bathroom and saw Max and Liz on the bed. Liz was resting and Max was reading her journal. Max gave her a look that informed her that he had permission to read it. Then she directed her attention to the way that Liz was positioned on top of him. The slit of Liz’s skirt exposed a higher part of Liz’s thigh, in which Max was caressing back and forth when he didn’t need his hand to turn the page. His arm was across Liz’s bare back, skin on skin. Liz’s hand was tucked inside his half-way opened shirt and her face rested above Max’s washboard stomach. Maria walked past the bed and signaled that she was going to go get something to eat. Max asked her if she could turn on the radio before she left, Maria flipped the switch and walked out the door closing it behind her. The song was already finishing and Max was almost done reading too.

Talk Tonight- Oasis

I wanna talk tonight
Until the mornin' light
'Bout how you saved my life

(You saved my life)
I wanna talk tonight
(I wanna talk tonight)
'Bout how you saved my life
(I wanna talk tonight)
'Bout how you saved my life
(I wanna talk tonight)
'Bout how you saved my life
(I wanna talk tonight)
'Bout how you saved my life
I wanna talk tonight

He read about how she felt the first time he touched her, that she had been waiting for him since 7th grade for him to approach her, but never did. The many fantasies she had about him sprinkled in every other page. She had a fantasy of Max coming through her classroom window and giving her flowers, when she had a substitute. The part that interested him was the night she got her journal back and wrote what Michael told
her about the journal. On how she gave Michael another reason to be envious of him. Liz’s confessions of love were in each page. And he felt bad every time he read a passage on how she felt when he was avoiding her and how she felt by lying to him about her sleep with Kyle.

Counting Crows - Colorblind

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside

Max laid the book down on the stand next to him. He looked down at Liz sleeping and tilted himself side ways to lie on his side. He gently put Liz to sleep on her stomach. He saw as Liz was awakening little by little, as he gave her small kisses up and down her spine. “Max…” She moaned, Max got up slightly and pulled the strap the held Liz’s top in place without any complains from Liz. Still lying on her stomach, Liz called out for Max. Max looked up and kissed her lips desperately. Liz turned around holding her shirt tightly to her. Max got a sence that she didn’t want to does this, but she made him lose all doubt when she pulled him down on her.

I am ready
I am taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight

Max climbed on her carefully placing one leg between her and pushing up. A loud moan came out of her and he place his lips over her cry. Liz unbuttoned Max shirt as he slipped it off to fall beside her on the bed.
Max looked Liz in her eyes, while he slipped her top out from underneath him. Without taking his eyes of Liz’s eyes, he laid back down on and felt her bare under him. Max avoided looking down, by any chance from making her feel uncomfortable and want to cover her self. Liz looked confused. “Max, what’s wrong?”

Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am fine

“Nothing. I just don’t want to hurt you or make you feel…or do…anything you don’t want to.”

I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside

Liz slid his hands up her stomach, he pulled back when Liz put his hands was near her breast, but Liz looked at him and smiled. She slid his hands back up again, this time placing each hand to cup her breast. Max kissed her this time teasing her by licking her top lip with the tip of his tongue, “Max! Uh…Max. Don’t stop. Please.” She begged.

I am folded and unfolded and unfolding
I am colorblind

Kissing down from her sweet wet mouth he trailed down to her neck towards her breast. Liz raised her leg, so her knee was pointing up. Her other leg was held between Max’s and she didn’t intend to move it either. Max’s hands roam up and down her thigh making her push herself up. Max
moaned and Liz soon felt his arousal poking into her. “Ah!” Liz grasped.

“Did I hurt you?” Max asked with a shaken voice.

“No.” Liz said taking a deep breath “Keep going.” She asked

Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am fine

They broke into another deep kiss. Max hands explored Liz’s body as Liz grasped every time. Liz desired every taste of his mouth. Her lips were numb for how hard he had been kissing her, but the feeling returned to her lips every time they began to kiss again. Liz and Max both were startled when Maria flung open the door. “Oh my god!” She said turning away from them continuing to shield her eyes with her hands.

“Sorry. I should really start knocking.” Max laid on Liz covering her until she reached for his shirt that was beside her. Max and her got up at the same time. Max back facing Maria, and Liz's body pressed up against his. Max took his shirt and put it around her and began to button the shirt.

“Close the door Maria.” Liz exclaimed and Maria ran to close it. When Liz turned back around, Maria saw her wearing Max’s shirt but only two buttons were fastened making her bare stomach visible. Liz remembered she had unfastened Max’s pants when they were on the bed and quickly turned him to look at her. Max looked down as Liz zipped and button his pants up. Then kissed her in gratitude. “Sorry Maria.” Liz said holding on to Max’s hand.

“Well…I’m speechless.” Maria said looking around. “Something tells me your staying for the night as well. I guess I’ll bring the sleeping bag.”

The next day, they all began to pack. Liz made arrangements for Isabel and Tess to work at "The Crashdown" in replacements for the two older waitresses. Max was helping Liz pack her stuff into boxes, sneaking kisses whenever the passed by each other. Every now and then, they practice to increase the power of their connection.

“Ok. So what am I feeling now?” Liz asked.

“You’re happy. Maybe I have that effect on you.” Max said with a grin.

“Yes. Maybe you do. But I’m not sure, so I have to test how much effect you have on me.” Liz teased and Max held her waist. “Ah…Max.” Liz moaned and Max smiled at his accomplishments.

“Now I’m feeling very intimidated. Do you have more of an effect on me than I do on you?” She asked him.

“I don’t know. You better see.” Max played along and teased her a little. Liz giggled and ran her hand from his hard chest and reached down below. She smiled rubbed on his arousal only causing it to increase.

“I guess I do have an effect on you.” She smiled cocky after looking at his bulge. The door opened and Michael appeared on the doorway.

“Sorry. Didn’t know you guys were at it again. Ready to go?” Michael asked. They both nodded and walked towards the door hand-in-hand, but Liz stopped and looked at her room one last time and smiled when Max kissed her head.

The Girls Apartment

Liz began to unpack the boxes in her room. She was so happy in her new room but all she could think about was Max and his hands all over her. She desired for him to touch her like he did last night. She shivered at the thought of her hands discovering her body for the first time. Where was he? All she needed was to feel him…kiss him…for him to touch her once and she would be stable for another 30 minutes. Max felt the current of sexual strain from Liz from the kitchen. Was it normal that she desired him
so often? If it wasn’t he wasn’t complaining.

Michael was annoyed on how Max was ignoring him, “Max!” he yelled grabbing his shoulder. Suddenly a quick flash appeared before both their eyes. It was Liz…last night…on her bed with Max on top of her. Then another quick flash of Maria and Michael in the same position. But when? Had they consumed their relationship to the next level? “What the hell was that?” Michael asked catching his breath.

Max shrugged, just as confused as he was about what had happened. “I think it was a flash.” Max said.

“A flash? Why? I mean we never had gotten them before.” Michael asked stumbling over his words and running his fingers through his spiky hair. “What did you see?” Michael asked.

“You and…and…Maria.” Max said embarrassed. “And you?”

“You and Liz all over each other.” Michael said with very little embarrassment. “You didn’t see anything, right?” Michael asked.

“See what?”

“As in ‘seeing Maria’…you know?”

“No! Nothing.” Max assured him. “You didn’t see Liz did you?”

“No.” Michael said stuttering. An awkward silence came upon them. “I think I hear Maria calling me.”

“Yeah, I think I hear Liz calling me.” Max and Michael both ran to the direction of the girl’s rooms.

Chapter 9

The Crashdown

Michael, Maria and Liz took the night shift and were closing and cleaning up the restaurant. Liz and Maria were bragging about what had happened between Max and Michael. Giggling at each assumption, they placed the chairs on top of the table. Michael was in the kitchen cleaning the grill with his magic thinking about what he had seen…and felt. He finished up the kitchen and went to change his clothes. They had plans today to rent movies and hang out at the house while Tess and Isabel went out with Alex and Kyle. Coming out quietly, he was overhearing Liz telling Maria about what had happened last night. Even though Maria had filled him in on the occurrences of last nights events, Liz was adding a lot more emotion, feeling, and description to the tale. He crept up and startled both the girls. Maria yelled knocking a half empty glass of strawberry milkshake on Liz’s uniform. “I’m so sorry.” Maria said laughing. Liz laughed to knowing it was an accident. Michael passed his hand in front of the stain of Liz’s uniform and it was gone. Thanks Michael.” Liz said still giggling.

“Don’t mention it.” Michael said grinning.

“I was going to change anyways…so you didn’t have to.” Liz look at Maria, “I’ll be back. I’m going to change. Lock up ok!” Liz stated as she jogged up the stairs from the diner that led to her parents’ house.

Liz old room

She was back in her old bedroom. She hadn’t even been gone twelve hours and yet it seemed like ages since she’s been there. She put on some blue jean hip-huggers Capri’s and an old football jersey that covered a minority of her waist. She loved to leave a majority of skin showing that Max could run his hands through. When she returned back from the bathroom, she noticed the door wide open. She thought she had closed it on her way in, but paid little attention to it walking over to her nightstand humming the song that played last night on the radio while in Max’s arms. She found a matching scrunchy and put her hair up in a ponytail. She inserted the silver hoped earrings in each ear and glanced at her appearance in the mirror. She suddenly froze as she heard the door squeak shut and a man appear behind the door. She tried backing up but was grabbed from behind, a strange hand over her mouth and the nuzzle of what felt like a gun press up against her back.

Downstairs

Maria and Michael took advantage of being left alone and had a little kissing action in the diner’s bathroom. “What’s taking her so long?” Maria asked fixing her make up.

“Michael can you go get her we’re ready.” Michael rolled his eyes and jogged upstairs.

Upstairs

Michael came up to a door that was cracked opened slightly. He peeked in the door knocking on the door with the knuckles of his pointing finger and middle finger, to let Liz know he was coming in. “Liz?” Michael called out. When he finally walked in he saw Liz standing in the middle of the room. “What’s wrong? Let’s go.” But Liz didn’t move, she stood paralyzed and motionless, trying to signal him with her eyes. Michael saw one single solitary tear roll down her cheek and then heard a creak on the floor, making a movement to turn around but didn’t because the same nuzzle was on his back now.

“Don’t turn around Mr. Guerrin if you don’t want your precious Liz to die!” The darkly voice demanded as another man appeared from behind the dresser pulling Liz back towards him by the arms.

“Hey!” Michael yelled in fear of Liz’s safety.

“Don’t worry Michael. We won’t hurt her unless you try to run or give us any trouble.” The man holding Liz said. “Let’s go princess.” He said moving her in the direction of the window. Michael was pushed to follow behind her. When they got to her balcony two men were waiting below the ladder with weapons. Liz grabbed on to Michael arm as they were hulled away in a black van.

Downstairs

“What is taking them so long?” Maria asked pacing back and forth by the front door of the diner. Maria looked at the clock that hung above the entrance and notice ten minutes had passed since Michael went up to look for Liz, and was frankly getting a little impatient and a little worried. She started to walk in the direction of the kitchen at an eager pace, but suddenly stopped when she heard someone knocking on the glass door. It was Max. He was peering in the door to see if anybody was there then stepped back when Maria came to the door to open it for him. Max hastily walked in the door, nearly knocking Maria down, searching around the diner with his eyes.

“Where’s Liz?! Where is she?” Max asked paranoid.

“Well hello to you too. She’s upstairs with Michael.” Maria said pointing up with her eyes while putting her hand on her hip. Max looked at her with confusion. “Don’t ask.” She walk towards the back with him running passed her. “I doubt they’re doing anything!” Maria yelled as Max ran up the stairs. “That girl’s way obsessed over you.”

Upstairs

“There’s no one here!” Max yelled continuing to search.

Chapter 10

Tess’s Old House

The Living Room

They retraced their journey to make it seem that they were going further than they really were. Michael and Liz had been knocked out before they reached their destination. The place was cleaned out. Not a trace of antique artifacts were seen. They were both tied up back-to-back on old wooden chairs in the center of the living room where the black piano was before. Liz and Michael were awakened by the foul stench of the smelling salt. Both of them coughed instantly to get rotting aroma out of their lungs. “Remember this place?” A voice said unseen from behind the staircase. Michael and Liz analyzed their surroundings realizing where they were…they were in Tess’s and Nasedo’s house. “What better place to hide…then a place your friends will never look.”

“What do you want from us?” Michael asked in a demandingtone. “Let us go or I’ll…” Michael threatening tone had no effect on the kidnappers.

“Or you’ll what?” The man asked humoring Michael with little signs of intimidation by his odd laugh. “See I’m afraid Michael that your in no position to declare empty threats.”

The mysterious voice appeared from behind the cloak of the staircase. “You!” Michael exclaimed surprised recognizing the man that attacked Liz at Club Zombie. His face was still cut and bruised by the severe beating that Max and Michael gave him. Liz turned her head to the side to see if she could see him but no longer needed to when the coldness of his voice triggered her memory and brought back a shiver of disgust and rage in her.

“You’re the mailman!” Liz remembered his face clearly now.

“Correct.” The man walked closer to them. “My name is Reddeck. There’s no point on you asking me who I work for, cause you’ll never see anybody unless you tell me where the orbs and the key are.”

“What are you talking about?” Michael asked confused. He knew about the orbs but what key was he talking about. Michael stopped his heavy think when Reddeck approached them.

“Don’t underestimate me Michael. You don’t want to see me angry.” Reddeck bent down to look Michael face to face. “Where’s the orbs and the key? And don’t lie to me because I’m getting very impatient with you and I don’t want to hurt Liz to get it out of you.” Michael stayed quiet, not knowing what to tell him. “You see Michael…I KNOW you have the orbs and the key. Hell, you were the one that activated it, how do you think we found you!” Michael didn’t look surprised. Nasedo warned them that they would contact others if they activated the orbs.

Michael’s apartment

Max called Isabel and the others to meet him at Michael’s house. When they got there Isabel noticed her brother disoriented, sweating and hyperventilating. She couldn’t believe that Liz being away from him and in trouble was actually hurting him. He mumbled her name over and over. Pronouncing his love and utter promise of getting her back. It was impossible for Isabel not to compare the despair her brother was going through to the one Michael was going through when he almost died. She ran to him, “Oh my god, Max!” She cried out. “What’s happening to you?” She asked trying to get a connection from his drowsy eyes. “Max look at me.” She demanded.

“We have to find Liz, Iz.” Max pleaded.

“Yes…yes we will…and then you’re going to get all better. I promise.” She tried to console him as she wiped the sweat from his forehead, rocking him back and forth in her arms.

“Please Max, don’t leave me.” She teared out.

“What do we do?” Alex asked.

“Ok…ok…first we have to make Max snap out of it and see if his connection would help us find her.” Isabel said in a panic voice, brushing the strands of her hair back off her forehead.

“Do you think that will work?” Tess asked.

“Right now we don’t have any other options but to try.” Isabel said looking at her brother’s pain.

“So what do we do exactly…drive around until he connects with her…like some radar?” Maria asked not convinced on the plan.

“It’s a start! Let’s go!” Isabel said heading out the door. Alex and Kyle carried Max into his jeep and drove off in Maria’s car. Isabel, Tess, and Maria stayed in the jeep, driving at a moderate speed to get Max to pick up any signal of Liz’s presence.

Tess’s House

“You’re really starting to disappoint me Michael.” Reddeck said looking at Michael bleed. He had beaten him but still not a word came out of his mouth. “I really didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Bring her to me.” The two men on guard untied her from the chair and drag Liz as she tried to reach out for Michael.

“No! No! Michael!” She pleaded to him not to let her go. Michael had a guiltful face since there was nothing he could do to help her.

In Max’s jeep

Max had stop sweating and raised himself from the slouching position he was in. He felt wild and familiar vibrations coming at him in high pitches. He stood up like an antelope sensing danger, and called out in a soft voice “Liz?”

Isabel looked at him “Do you feel her Max?”

“Yes. All over.” He said rubbing his hands up and down his arms, like he was trying to get warm. “She’s near.”

“Look where we are.” Tess pointed out. “We’re by my old house!” They all looked at their surroundings realizing that they were by Tess’s house.

“Keep going! It’s getting stronger.” Max yelled in reference towards his connection with Liz.

Tess’s House

Liz was tied down on an examining table they had brought in. It was placed in front of Michael so they could see the torture that they were about to perform on Liz. “What are you going to do?” Liz asked frantically. Reddeck passed his hand in front of his face and all the cuts and bruises disappeared. Liz grasped of shock, but he noticed the Liz wasn’t shocked over the fact that he had superpowers like an alien, but the fact that he had that specific power.

“You know what I am, don’t you? Well then start worrying cause this is going to hurt a lot.” Reddeck warned as he placed his hands on her face, cupping each cheek. Liz began to scream do to the intolerable pain of Reddeck searching her mind. “What? Who?” he asked perplexed on the images he was getting. He expected to see Michael in her mind but all he received was images of Max. He saw the reason why Michael was giving her mouth-to-mouth and Max was sitting on the floor. He saw how when he grabbed her at the club, how she called out for Max instead of Michael. Then he released his grip on her when he saw what happened in her room with Max that night. “Who are you?” he asked. “Who’s Max?”

“I’M MAX!” A voice from the doorway announced.
