"Kitchen slave?" I say, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't realize you were volunteering for that. I'm sure we can come up with something more for you to do. Maybe the dishes?" I look at him with a grin, hoping he'll know that I'm joking.

"On the other hand, we'd probably all benefit from letting you shower, too," I say, pretending to think it over. No, he's not that stinky --yet. At least not that I can tell from here. But I have no interest in preventing him from showering. We might end up riding in the same car or worse, he could end up next to Isabel. We don't want to mess that up.

"Go ahead," I say, more seriously but still smiling. "We'll sort out the clean-up."

ALEX

Dishes? yeah right - that is Kyle's job I'd say!

"On the other hand, we'd probably all benefit from letting you shower, too."

I can just resist the urge to sniff my armpits - it would have really been embarrassing if I'd done that.

"We'll sort out the clean-up."

"Cool." I comment, pushing myself away from the counter. "There are still some strawberries and whipped cream left and there's also enough for a few more pancakes left so ... enjoy yourselves and behave!"

Alex leaves and I look around at those still in the kitchen. "Well, since Liz and I made the cookies last night, maybe it's Kyle's turn to do the dishes?" I suggest.

Then, turning to the ladies. "We were talking about what to do today. Anybody up for minature golf or something? Maybe a volleyball tournament at the beach? Or, if we leave right now, we can try for Disney." I was really thinking to do Disney with more planning, but I'm trying to be flexible. My friends at home are always trying to encourage me to be more spontaneous.

I smile up at Max as he comes to join me in the breakfast nook. "They're marvelous," I comment on the pancakes, smiling over at Liz as she joins us.

And I have to agree with Liz. I never would've thought about strawberries and whipped cream on the pancakes either, but it is an absolutely stunning combination. A good choice on Alex's behalf.

I laugh softly as I listen to the boys banter back and forth with each other about Alex going off and getting a shower, and being done here.

Kyle's turn to do the dishes. It seems just a little wrong to leave him to do them all by himself. "I can help Kyle," I offer, with a small smile in Kyle's direction.

Besides it's not like I ahd anything to still do to get ready to leave the house. I was showered, dressed, my hair and make-up was done. And I was just about finished with breakfast.

Miniature golf. Sounds like fun. The beach. Sounds like salty goodness. All the sand, ocean water, boys in hardly any clothes.

My eyes lit up at the prospect of going to Disney. "But wouldn't Disney take a bit mroe planning...at the very least, we'd have to pack." If you were going to go to Disney, you had to stay at least one night.

I look up as Tess volunteers to help Kyle. "You don't have to do that, Tess," I tell her. "Guys can wash dishes, too." He deserves it, I think, for spoiling things with Alex and Isabel. It may be okay in the long run, but it was still wrong for him to do that.

But as her eyes light up over the possible plans for the day, I forget completely about Kyle. "Well, yeah," I say when she comments about needing time for Disney. "It's quite a drive from here. I was thinking to try it next weekend, but I'm trying to offer all the options."

I almost drop my fork when Max suggests I should wash the dishes. What the ...? Why?

Then I smile gratefully at Tess when she offers to help only to end up glaring at Max again for saying she doesn't have to. Of course guys can wash dishes too but ... why should we? Besides, don't we have a dishwasher or something? Whatever that thing is called.

"Not to spoil your planning but I heard from a co-worker that next weekend, there is a festival sponsored by the radio - we might have to work then or maybe get tickets for free for it." I comment after finishing my share of pancakes. "Even though I think we would already have been informed if we have to work next week."

Working next weekend? That would suck. "Well, maybe we'll get a couple days off during the week instead," I say slowly. I didn't think we'd signed on for working seven days a week.

I look at Tess, wondering why she'd volunteered to work with Kyle. I had been trying to be nice and give her an out. Instead, she dives in. Well, maybe she just doesn't want to look like a shirker.

"We could just hang around the house and do nothing, today, too," I say. It seems a bit boring, but sometimes a totally unstructured day is good, too.

Personally, doing nothing but soaking in the sun, sounds like a good plan but I also wouldn't mind some friendly game of football. But I think I'll keep out of deciding this for today. Who knows maybe they are still a bit pissed about my telling Alex's secret - not that it was my fault!

Besides, there are more important things to discuss right now.

"Where you serious when you suggested that I do the dishes, Max?"

"Why not? You too good for that, Valenti?" I ask. My tone is light, but I'm not joking. We've done a lot of eating out, it's true, but there's no reason everyone shouldn't be doing their share around here, keeping things nice for everyone. Maybe he didn't grow up with any siblings. Maybe at his house 'mom' did everything. I don't really know that much about his personal life. Still, if he seriously doesn't want to clean at all, I'd hate to be in his room. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing Michael isn't one for cleaning up after himself, either.

"We're all living here. We all should be taking turns. Besides, we do have a dishwasher. All you have to do by hand is the griddle for the pancakes. I'm sure even you could handle that," I tell him.

Okay, so maybe there are still some hard feelings about me telling things I wasn't supposed to tell. Oh well, if it makes Evans happy. At least Tess was kind enough to offer her help. What a great girl!

"Okay, I was just checking if you were joking or not. Do you guys still want some or can I start then?"
