cassie, I know A/I living together is a surprise and I considered writing about their talk with the parents about it but ... I didn't come up with anything

killjoy, I'm very glad that you approve of my little K/T moment

Part Eleven
“Oh my God, can you believe it?” Maria squealed as she pulled both Alex and Liz into a hug. “We graduated!”
It was after Graduation, every student had gotten his or her diploma and they had thrown their hats into the air and where now waiting for the various parties to begin.
“Nice dress Alice!” some jock commented as he passed the trio, ‘accidently’ bumping into Alex on his way.
“Thanks! And it suits you too!” Alex replied annoyed. He was really glad high school was over and he wouldn’t have to see these morons again. “Liz, why the sad face?” Alex asked when he noticed the girl’s far away look.
“Oh it’s nothing … I …” Liz began, flushing slightly, “I just can’t believe that in the end, it was really Pam who did the speech and not me.”
Alex and Maria exchanged a glance before Maria asked, “C’mon, don’t tell me this really upsets you? After all, when the lawn-sprinkler was turned on, no one listened to Pam anymore.”
Someone unknown had manipulated the sprinkler so it had been activated in the middle of the ceremony, causing many to be at least slightly – if not dripping – wet now.
Alex was pretty sure he’d heard Kyle Valenti and Michael Guerin talk about a ‘wet day’ before the ceremony had started but he didn’t say anything. He knew if he did, then Michael wouldn’t be getting any till he turned 30 and the same could most likely be said for Kyle if Tess ever heard about it.
“If I had been the one up there, the people wouldn’t even have noticed the water.” Liz insisted with huff.
Exchanging yet another glance, both Alex and Maria just nodded in agreement, deciding to not say anything about this topic anymore.
“Alex! There you are.” Mr. Whitman said just then, appearing behind his youngest son. “There are some things the Evans want to discuss with us concerning the apartment sharing in San Diego.”
Seeing his son nod and saying goodbye to his two friends, Mr. Whitman briefly smiled at the girls, “You two look really lovely. We’ll see you later.”
“Thanks Mr. Whitman.” Liz and Maria said unison, both knowing that it was hard to look lovely in the magenta colored robes. Turning to Alex, they grinned, “Have fun!”
Both girls had been rather apprehensive when they learned that Alex and Isabel would share an apartment together out of their reach. Sure, they had discovered that once you got to know her, Isabel wasn’t the Ice Queen from the frozen Hell like they always had assumed but still, you could never be too sure.
They had to give her credit though, because after prom, Isabel had to endure some critic from her friends for dancing with Alex instead of her ex-boyfriend or another guy from the popular group. Isabel just held her head high when that happened and told the other girls that it wasn’t their business who she chooses to dance with.
Neither Maria or Liz had commented about this to Alex since they were sure that Alex was unaware of it. So instead, they had only asked if he was sure that moving in together was a smart move.
Alex had shrugged and told them that it did actually make sense. It was expensive enough to send one child to college but the Evans had two children going so for them, it was fortunate that they could at least save some money – no matter how little - with the apartment and that this way, Alex and Isabel wouldn’t be totally alone in a unknown city.
When the Whitman men reached Mrs. Whitman, the whole Evans family was already with her.
“Mrs. Evans, Mr. Evans.” Alex greeted the two adults before turning to the siblings. “Congratulations you two.” He grinned at them.
“You too, dude.” Max said as he slapped Alex on his shoulder.
“Yeah, same here.” Isabel said as she hugged Alex, “I wouldn’t have made it without you.” She whispered into his ear before releasing him.
Alex blushed slightly at the feel of Isabel’s breath on his ear which automatically had Mr. Evans narrow his eyes at the young man before he dismissed the fragrant of a suspicion again.
“We just wanted to go over some small details again, Alex.” Mrs. Evans told Alex. There will be some papers to be signed and some other normal stuff concerning moving into a new apartment. Nothing very overwhelming but the sooner we do this, the sooner it will be over.”
“Sure, Mrs. Evans, no problem.” Alex smiled at the woman. In the last weeks, he’d spent more time at the Evans home and found it very easy to talk with Isabel’s mother. ’Just like in the old times.’ he thought to himself.
“You will of course make sure that nothing bad happens to Isabel?” Mr. Evans asked the young man sternly.
“Dad!” Isabel cried out at the same moment Alex said just as serious as Mr. Evans had been. “Of course, sir!”
“What? Hey you two, I already told you, I don’t need a babysitter.” Isabel said, looking from her father to Alex and back. “Alex has to concentrate on his studies and can’t look after me 24/7, right?” the last was directed at Alex, Isabel’s raised eyebrows daring Alex to disagree with her.
Feeling everyone’s eyes on him – some where twinkling with amusement, some questioning – Alex cleared his throat nervously, “So, what kind of papers are there to be signed?”
