The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. I had a hand me down edition that was printed in 1948, I actually still have the book but sadly didn't look after it as well as I should have. :/

I think it was House. And by that I mean, I didn't go around diagnosing strange ailments in my Barbies but that I played housewife and mother with them.
