Part 11
Michael looked at his watch at quarter till 12 he was supposed to meet Max and Isabel at 12:30. For some reason he was really nervous. They were like him, most likely his real family but they were still strangers. He did not know what to expect. Max seemed nice enough but then again he was also a threat to Michael because of Maria. Thinking back to this morning Michael began to wonder how much of a threat Max really was.
Michael turned to Kyle. “I have to go. I don’t know if I will be back or not.”
“Ok. Be careful Michael. They might be like you but you still don’t know them. By the way, what do you want me to tell Dad?” Kyle asked
Michael thought about it for a moment and then said. “Just tell him I had some personal stuff to take care. Eventually I am going to have to tell Mom and Dad something but I just don’t know what.”
“Ok. Hey Michael, is Maria still going out with Max tonight?” Kyle asked
Michael just shrugged his shoulders and walked out the door.
Kyle couldn’t resist bringing Maria up. The scene he walked in on this morning just couldn’t be ignored. Kyle hoped that they would finally come to their senses and admit to each other how they feel. It was painfully obvious to anyone who spent more than two minutes with them that they were very much in love with each other. Kyle even suspected that their parents knew. He had caught both Amy and his Dad looking at the two with strange looks on their faces.

Michael arrived at the Quarry at 12:30. They had decided that this was the best place to meet. It was out of the way and no one would be around so they could show each other some of the things they could do with their powers. Michael still felt a little uneasy about using his powers but maybe seeing theirs would help him understand his own some more.
Max and Isabel Evans were already there when he drove up.
Isabel raised an eyebrow to Michael’s uniform. Max had not told her that he was a police officer. How ironic.
“Michael.” Max held out his hand to Michael. They shook hands. Max then turned to his sister.
“Michael this is my sister Isabel.”
Michael held his hand out to her but she pushed it away and instead enveloped him in a hug. She held onto him for a long time and then she whispered in his ear. “I knew there was someone else out there. I’m glad we finally found you.”
Isabel stepped away from Michael suddenly unnerved by her show of emotion. Isabel was always very much in control of herself but when she saw Michael standing in front of her she had to hug him. It just felt right. It felt like she had finally found home.
“So what now?” Michael asked after a few awkward moments of silence.
“To tell you the truth Michael I don’t know. Like I told you yesterday I really wasn’t expecting this. Sure I came here hoping maybe to remember something but I honestly hadn’t even tried. I guess the prospect of learning about who I was and where I came from kind of scared me and still does. Isabel and I have a family who love us and that is all we have really ever needed. Now finding a “brother”, well it is kind of surreal.”
“I know exactly how you both feel. Listen you have a family and so do I. Maria and Kyle and my parents are all I have ever needed and even wanted but I think I can handle having another brother and sister in my life if you can.”
Both Max and Isabel nodded their heads yes.
“I’d love to meet your brother and sister Michael.” Isabel said.
“Well Max is going out with Maria tonight on a date.” Michael said trying to not reveal any of his feelings on the matter
“What? Max is going on a date?” Isabel looked at Max shocked. Max never dates.
“Don’t start Isabel.” Max warned his sister.
“Come on Max you expect me to let this go. I don’t think so. When was the last time you went on a date? I know, never. You always tell me that you don’t have time to date or you haven’t found anyone you want to go out with. Why are you going on a date now?”
Michael watched the interaction between Max and Isabel and wondered what exactly was going on. Isabel obviously seems shocked that Max was going out on a date. He could tell how uncomfortable Max was with the whole conversation and he caught Max glancing over at him every once in awhile.
“Maria is unique Isabel. You will like her.” Max told his sister and left it at that. Max didn’t want to talk about Maria to Isabel with Michael here. Especially knowing how Michael feels about her. Maria is special, he knew that from the first moment he met her but he couldn’t exactly explain why he wanted to go out with her so bad. Sure he was attracted to her but he was also attracted to her friend Liz it wasn’t just a physical attraction. There was something else about her. A connection that he just couldn’t explain. And quite frankly he didn’t want to. Not yet at least and especially not with Michael around.
“Hey I got an idea why don’t the four of us go out tonight and maybe Michael you could see if you brother and a date could come to. It will be a lot of fun.” Isabel suggested.
“I don’t know about that Isabel. I’m sure Michael doesn’t want to go out with Maria and me.” Max tried to save Michael but Isabel would hear nothing of it.
“Oh come on Max I’m sure Michael would love to go out with us. It will give us all a chance to get to know each other. I really would like to get to know Michael’s family as well as him.”
Max gave Michael an apologetic look and just nodded his head at Isabel. There was no use arguing with her. She had already made up her mind.
“It’s ok Max. Isabel is right we all should get to know each other. I will talk with Kyle. He isn’t really dating anyone at the moment so he might have trouble finding a date.”
Michael was feeling really uncomfortable with this whole situation. It seemed that now he was going out on a date with someone who could be his sister. Why the hell not. He was in love with his other one.
Max, Isabel and Michael talked for another hour each demonstrating some of their powers. Michael found out that Isabel could dreamwalk and Max could heal and it seemed that he was able to blow things up whereas the others couldn’t. Each of them had separate gifts as well as the ones they could all do.

Michael came back to the station two hours later. Kyle seemed surprised that Michael was back.
“Well that didn’t take long. You find out anything new.”
“A few things but nothing major. Hey Kyle, Isabel and Max would like to meet you. Isabel was wondering if you and a date would like to go out with us tonight.”
“What about Maria?” Kyle asked
“She is coming with Max as his date.”
“So Isabel is your date?” Kyle asked. Michael was obviously uncomfortable about the whole thing. The fact that Michael would not look him in the eye was a dead give away.
“Well kind of. I guess. I don’t know. Please Kyle you have to come. I cannot go on a double date with Maria. Not again.” Michael pleaded.
Kyle knew how hard it was for Michael to admit his feelings about the whole date thing so what else could he do. “Ok. I’ll call Liz and see if she can come with me.”
“Liz. I thought you broke up?” Michael asked.
“We did but we are still friends. We have dated each other forever Michael. Going out once more as friends really isn’t a big deal.”
“Ok if you are sure. Thanks Kyle. Anyway I think you will like Isabel. She reminds me of Mom.”
“Oh god. Not another one. So she is a force to be reckoned with?”
“Oh yeah.”
“This could be interesting after all.” Kyle said. Isabel Evans sounded like a very interesting person, one that he couldn’t wait to meet in person.

For those wondering, the rewrite of this story is pretty much the same as the original. I am changing some of the wording and grammar and such and making everything look and sound better but the storyline has not really changed. But this time around I am going to finish it. I have six more chapters written and there is still a lot more to tell. 
Part 12
Maria was anxious about her date with Max tonight especially after hearing that his sister and Michael as well as Kyle and Liz would be coming with them. Maria still wasn’t sure what she was going to do about what happened with Michael this morning. They had kissed. More than kissed they had made out heavily. Michael in the eyes of the world was her brother. She didn’t know how something so wrong could feel so right. Last night when Michael had kissed her she had been surprised but thrilled at the same time but today was something totally different. For one thing she had kissed him. She completely lost control of her mind for a few minutes. Her body did what it wanted to do, what it had wanted to do for a long time. And Michael had kissed her back. And most importantly when it was over he said he wasn’t sorry. He knew what he did and he was not apologizing for it. So what does that mean for them? That was the big question that Maria couldn’t answer. At least not on her own.
Maria knew that she could grow to love Max. She was sure of it but she also knew that she would never be happy with him because she would be settling for second best. She wanted Michael and if she wasn’t mistaken Michael also wanted her. But does he just want to sleep with her or does he want to be with her heart and soul? That was the second big question of the day. Maria knew that eventually they would have to sit down and talk but tonight was not the night. Tonight, however, she did have to talk to Max. She would have to let him know that this thing between the two of them was not going to happen. She was attracted to him, connected to him in a way that she had only felt before with Michael but he was not the other half of her soul. Michael was.

Down the hall Michael was also thinking about this mornings kiss. If Kyle had not interrupted them he wondered just how far it would have gone. Note to self ask Max if sex is different for them. Of course if Isabel was right and Max had never been on a date before than he most likely was not the person to ask. One thing he was certain of was that Maria was also feeling something for him. Was it just sexual attraction or was it something more? He was hoping for the latter but than again that brought up a whole other set of problems. Where would that leave them? They grew up brother and sister. Legally they could be together but in the eyes of some it was morally wrong. What would they do? There were just too many things to think about. Michael just didn’t have time right now.
Michael was also worried about this whole date/get together thing. Would he be able to handle seeing Maria with Max? Michael was going to be a wreck by the time they left for dinner if his thoughts kept up this way. So he did the only thing he could do to quiet his inner voices he blasted them out with Metallica music.

Kyle laughed as soon as he heard the music blaring from Michael’s room. Looks like Michael was a little nervous about this coming evening. He always blared his music when he was upset about something. Kyle knew exactly what was bothering his brother. Maria. Of course, over the years it has always been Maria that has stirred up Michael’s emotions enough to get him upset.
Tonight certainly was going to be interesting. When he called Liz and asked if she would come she seemed overly excited about the idea. He thought that maybe Max Evans was the reason. There was something in her voice when she told him that she had met him a few weeks before. She also mentioned that she had talked with him several times over the last week. Seems he really liked the atmosphere of the Crashdown. Yep it was definitely going to be an interesting evening.

An hour later the three Valenti’s were ready to go out for the evening. They were meeting Max, Isabel and Liz at Senor Chow’s.
“So are you two boys ready?” Maria asked walking down the stairs. She smiled to herself when she saw the expression Michael had on his face. She was wearing a new dress that she bought especially for this evening.
My god that dress was worse than the other one Michael thought. What the hell was she doing? “Don’t you think you forget something?” Michael asked Maria.
“I don’t think so. What?” Maria knew exactly where this wass going. The dress she was wearing was a slip style dress that showed quite a bit of skin in all the right places.
“I don’t know maybe your dress. You can’t go out in that Maria. It just isn’t decent.” Michael shouted
Kyle saw where this was headed and stepped in before this became a full-fledged battle. “Enough. Michael you know she is going to wear what ever she wants even if it is indecent.” Kyle had to put in his two cents worth too.
Maria just walked out of the door in front of Michael and Kyle. She knew she had won once again and she loved every minute of it. Plus she knew that Michael was “affected” by the way she looked tonight.
Kyle smiled to himself. Maria was just wicked.

Max and Isabel were already at the table when they arrived at the restaurant. Liz walked up to the door just as the Valenti’s arrived.
“Thanks again for coming with me tonight Liz.” Kyle said to Liz as they walked to their table.
“It is my pleasure Kyle.” Liz said to Kyle but she was not looking at him she was looking at Max instead.
Kyle noticed Liz looking at the table and smiled. Then he got a good look at Isabel Evans. If Maria was wicked than Isabel was just downright sinful. No one should look that good. Kyle decided it wasn’t going to be an interesting evening at all it was going to be a hard one, a very hard one.

At the table Max and Isabel watched the others walk over to the table. Isabel was fascinated with who she assumed was Michael’s brother, Kyle Valenti. He is really good looking. As he gets closer she gets a good look at his eyes. They are beautiful. She smiled at him as she noticed him checking her out. She was really glad she decided to wear the dress she had on tonight. It definitely showed off her “assets” in a very flattering way.
Max watched as Michael and Maria approached the table. He saw the possessive look that Michael had on his face and he also noticed the very menacing looks he gave the guys to the right of them that were very blatantly checking Maria out. Maria through the whole thing just continued to talk with Michael. She didn’t even seem to notice Michael’s behavior. Max could tell that she did though and more so she seemed to enjoy it. Max knew right than and there that Maria Deluca was just as much in love with Michael as he was her. Max didn’t stand a chance. Maria would never be his.
Max accepted it all very quickly without showing a bit of his emotion on his face. Or at least he thought he had until he looked over at Liz. She had seen it all. He could tell that she knew what he was thinking. Liz gave him a sympathetic smile.

Liz had been watching Max since they walked into the restaurant. She saw him watching Michael and Maria and she immediately saw when he realized how those two felt about each other. She knew from the first time she met him that Max was one of those people who could read others pretty easily. Maria and Michael were pretty easy to read even for the average person but Liz knew that Max could tell that he was never going to win Maria’s heart. Maria was head over heels for Michael even if she was too damn stubborn to admit it. Liz actually couldn’t blame her though. Their situation was not an ideal one but it didn’t change the fact that they loved each other.
Liz felt for Max because he did obviously want to start something with Maria. She saw it that day in the Crashdown. Liz knew that Max found her attractive but Maria was the one that held his attention the entire time. He was obviously drawn to Maria, maybe in as much the same way Liz herself was drawn to him.
When Kyle called her this afternoon and asked her to come to dinner with him and the others she nearly jumped up and down in excitement. She was having dinner with Max. She thought maybe she might be able to get him to notice her a bit. She could only hope.
Liz saw Max look at her and she knew that he could tell that she had seen him watch Michael and Maria and that he realized how they felt about each other. She gave him a sympathetic look. He simply shrugged and smiled at her. Maybe she had a chance after all.

Part 13
For the most part it was a very uneventful yet enjoyable evening. Of course no one was talking to whom they were supposed to. Michael and Maria spent the entire evening talking, as did Isabel and Kyle and Max and Liz. By the end of the night it was pretty obvious how everyone was paired up and it certainly wasn’t who they had come with.
Maria told Max that she would like to talk to him after dinner but he told him that there wasn’t a need. He knew what she was going to say. Max kissed her on the cheek and whispered “Good Luck” into her ear. Maria looked at Max for a moment and then nodded her head towards Liz letting him know he should go for it and Max did, Wholeheartedly.
At the end of the evening everyone separated in their own directions. Max and Liz were going to go have coffee, Kyle was taking Isabel dancing and Michael and Maria went home.
The moment they walked in the door of their apartment Michael pulled Maria into his arms. He’d wanted to kiss her all evening and he just couldn’t hold back any longer. The moment their lips touched they both moaned. To them it felt like they were finally where they should be. After a few moments Maria pulled away from Michael and held her hand out to him. He took it and they walked to Maria’s room.
Once there they both seemed a little unsure of where to go next. Both knew what they wanted but still were unsure of how the other felt. Maria decided she needed to take the first step. She walked up to Michael and took his jacket and tie off and started to go to work on the buttons of his shirt when Michael put his hand on top of hers. Michael made Maria look him in the eyes.
“Are you sure? This will change everything. There will not be any going back.” Michael asked. He wanted to make sure that Maria was clear what this would mean.
“I’m more sure about this Michael than I have ever been about anything else.” Maria said as she started to unbutton his shirt again. This time Michael allowed her to proceed.
Once the shirt was unbuttoned Maria pulled it off of Michael’s body, her fingertips touching as much skin as she could. She marveled at the feel of his skin under her fingertips. She had never felt anything like it before. She could almost feel the electricity building between them.
The whole time Maria had been undressing Michael he had not once touched her. He just watched her face as she concentrated on unbuttoning his shirt. He saw how fascinated she was with his bare skin and loved the look of pure joy that crossed her face when she touched his bare skin with her fingertips. To be honest Michael did not know exactly where to go with this. He hadn’t had time to talk with Max or Isabel about sex for them but he assumed that it would be ok. One of them would have warned him otherwise. Besides that, this was Maria. She was his sister, his best friend and soon to be his lover. Were they really ready to cross that invisible line that has been between them for so long? Michael’s mind was telling him one thing but his heart and soul was telling him another. He didn’t think his mind was going to win this time. This time he was going to follow his heart because he needed to. He would go crazy if he didn’t. The not knowing was worse then making the move and paying the consequences.
Once Maria had removed Michael’s shirt and enjoyed touching his upper body to her satisfaction she looked up into Michael’s eyes. She saw desire, love and even a little fear reflected there and imagined that her own mirrored his. She wanted this more than anything but she was also scared to death. Maria knew that Michael had never been with anyone before. Kyle had told her as much a few months ago. He said that Michael was afraid what would happen because of his heritage. He didn’t want something to happen that could tip people off that he was different. Maria silently hoped that maybe another reason was because he couldn’t imagine himself being with anyone else besides her. Maria unfortunately had been with someone else. She had slept with a boyfriend in high school and had regretted it immediately. She had actually cried afterwards and not from happiness. She had been so upset over the whole experience that once she got home she didn’t come out of her room for two days. She never told Michael or Kyle what had happened. For some reason she almost felt ashamed. Her and Doug (her boyfriend) had not done anything wrong. And it been a mutual decision but she had not realized till too late that it was a wrong decision for her. She felt like she had betrayed Michael in some way and that he would think badly of her. Maria knew before they went any further that she would have to tell him and that scared her more than anything that would follow afterwards.
“Michael. I need to tell you something.” Maria whispered to him. Michael barely heard her and grew concerned that maybe she was changing her mind.
“If you don’t want to do this Maria. It is ok.” Michael told her making her look into his eyes.
“No. No. Michael I do. There is just something you should know before we go any further.”
“Ok.”
“This isn’t my first time.” Maria said and looked into Michael’s eyes to gage his reaction. She saw nothing. He didn’t seem surprised at all. In fact he smiled at her.
“I know Maria. I know about you and Doug.”
“What. How?” Maria was shocked. How did he know?
“You remember how you wouldn’t come out of your room after that last date you two went on. Well Kyle and I got worried and decided we needed to find out what exactly had happened. We were afraid that he had hurt you in some way. So we went and talked to him. He told us what had happened after a little persuasion on our parts. You know I think you may have broken his heart when you broke up with him afterwards. I think he really did like you.” Michael confessed.
Michael would have beat Doug into a bloody pulp if Kyle had not gone with him that day. He had been sure that he had hurt Maria in some way. Michael knew that she had been crying in her room since she came home from their date and he wanted to know why. Thank god Kyle had been there. Michael wasn’t sure what he would have done to Doug otherwise. Doug had eventually admitted that they had slept together and that afterwards Maria had seemed upset. He didn’t understand why. He had been trying to talk to her but Maria would not take his calls and he was actually afraid to come to the house to see her because of Michael and Kyle. Doug knew how over protective they were of Maria and was sure they wouldn’t take too kindly to him deflowering their sister. Michael had been shocked and at first angry. For a second he thought maybe Doug had forced Maria but eventually he realized that Maria wouldn’t have let that happen. She was more than capable of defending herself and besides that she would never had hesitated to come home and tell them or their Dad what had happened to her. She would never have let him get away with any sort of violation. Michael knew without a doubt that Maria had willingly slept with Doug and it had hurt him deeply. After awhile he realized that he had no right to be upset. Maria was not his no matter how much he had wanted it otherwise. They were in fact brother and sister and whomever Maria was with was no business of his.

“I’m sorry. I should have told you. I just felt like I had betrayed you somehow.” She told him honestly.
“Maria look at me.” Michael demanded. “You could never betray me. You are the most loyal person I have ever met. Back then it was impossible for us. Hell it still might be for that matter. You had every right to be with who you wanted and still do.”
“That’s the thing Michael. I have never been with whom I wanted. I have always wanted you. I have only ever slept with one guy and that was Doug. I knew then that I had made a mistake. It would never feel right unless it was with you.” Maria said her eyes full of tears.
Michael pulled Maria into his arms and kissed her gently. “I have always wanted you to Maria. More than you could ever imagine. Since we are being completely honest I guess you should know that there hasn’t ever been anyone.”
“I know. Kyle told me. He told me that you were uncertain whether it would be different for you or not.”
Michael looked at Maria and silently cursed their brother. Kyle and he were going to have a few words later.
“He is right. I still don’t know what will happen. I am afraid I will hurt you Maria. I don’t know if we should do this.” Michael said fear evident in his voice
Maria shook her head. “Michael you could never hurt me. No matter what, I want this. Please.”
Michael nodded and then pulled Maria closer. He touched her face gently and wrapped his hand around the back of her neck and pulled her towards him. Their mouths met in a kiss full of the passion and want they both felt for each other. Michael’s hands started to roam over Maria’s body coming to the edge of her dress. He pulled it up inch by inch. They separated for a moment as he pulled Maria’s dress over her head. He stepped back for a moment so that he can take a good look at Maria. He was shocked beyond belief to realize that she had not been wearing anything under her dress tonight. She was now completely nude in front of him except for her high heal sandals. She nearly took his breath away. She was so beautiful. Michael wanted her more than he knew possible.
“God you are beautiful Maria.” He whispered.
Maria had been afraid until she heard the slight reverence in Michael’s voice. She knew then that everything was going to be fine. They were finally going to be where they have always belonged, with each other. She wrapped her arms around Michael. She gasped when their bare torsos touched. The feeling was indescribable. She could feel her blood flowing underneath her skin and it was like every cell in her body was reaching out to connect with his. She felt like she was on fire. She started to unbutton Michael’s pants. She wanted to feel all of him against her.
“Michael, Maria you still up. I need to talk to you.” Kyle shouted loudly from downstairs.
Both Michael and Maria cursed.
“You know I think I am starting to really dislike our brother.” Michael said leaning his forehead against Maria’s.
Maria sighed “I know the feeling.”
“Yeah we are up. Be down in a second.” Michael shouted down the stairs.
They both got dressed and tried to straighten their appearance a bit.
“This better be damn important or Kyle Valenti is a dead man.” Michael said as he walked out of Maria’s door. He hesitated for a moment and extended his hand for her. They walked down the stairs together hand in hand.

For the most part it was a very uneventful yet enjoyable evening. Of course no one was talking to whom they were supposed to. Michael and Maria spent the entire evening talking, as did Isabel and Kyle and Max and Liz. By the end of the night it was pretty obvious how everyone was paired up and it certainly wasn’t who they had come with.
Maria told Max that she would like to talk to him after dinner but he told him that there wasn’t a need. He knew what she was going to say. Max kissed her on the cheek and whispered “Good Luck” into her ear. Maria looked at Max for a moment and then nodded her head towards Liz letting him know he should go for it and Max did, Wholeheartedly.
At the end of the evening everyone separated in their own directions. Max and Liz were going to go have coffee, Kyle was taking Isabel dancing and Michael and Maria went home.
The moment they walked in the door of their apartment Michael pulled Maria into his arms. He’d wanted to kiss her all evening and he just couldn’t hold back any longer. The moment their lips touched they both moaned. To them it felt like they were finally where they should be. After a few moments Maria pulled away from Michael and held her hand out to him. He took it and they walked to Maria’s room.
Once there they both seemed a little unsure of where to go next. Both knew what they wanted but still were unsure of how the other felt. Maria decided she needed to take the first step. She walked up to Michael and took his jacket and tie off and started to go to work on the buttons of his shirt when Michael put his hand on top of hers. Michael made Maria look him in the eyes.
“Are you sure? This will change everything. There will not be any going back.” Michael asked. He wanted to make sure that Maria was clear what this would mean.
“I’m more sure about this Michael than I have ever been about anything else.” Maria said as she started to unbutton his shirt again. This time Michael allowed her to proceed.
Once the shirt was unbuttoned Maria pulled it off of Michael’s body, her fingertips touching as much skin as she could. She marveled at the feel of his skin under her fingertips. She had never felt anything like it before. She could almost feel the electricity building between them.
The whole time Maria had been undressing Michael he had not once touched her. He just watched her face as she concentrated on unbuttoning his shirt. He saw how fascinated she was with his bare skin and loved the look of pure joy that crossed her face when she touched his bare skin with her fingertips. To be honest Michael did not know exactly where to go with this. He hadn’t had time to talk with Max or Isabel about sex for them but he assumed that it would be ok. One of them would have warned him otherwise. Besides that, this was Maria. She was his sister, his best friend and soon to be his lover. Were they really ready to cross that invisible line that has been between them for so long? Michael’s mind was telling him one thing but his heart and soul was telling him another. He didn’t think his mind was going to win this time. This time he was going to follow his heart because he needed to. He would go crazy if he didn’t. The not knowing was worse then making the move and paying the consequences.
Once Maria had removed Michael’s shirt and enjoyed touching his upper body to her satisfaction she looked up into Michael’s eyes. She saw desire, love and even a little fear reflected there and imagined that her own mirrored his. She wanted this more than anything but she was also scared to death. Maria knew that Michael had never been with anyone before. Kyle had told her as much a few months ago. He said that Michael was afraid what would happen because of his heritage. He didn’t want something to happen that could tip people off that he was different. Maria silently hoped that maybe another reason was because he couldn’t imagine himself being with anyone else besides her. Maria unfortunately had been with someone else. She had slept with a boyfriend in high school and had regretted it immediately. She had actually cried afterwards and not from happiness. She had been so upset over the whole experience that once she got home she didn’t come out of her room for two days. She never told Michael or Kyle what had happened. For some reason she almost felt ashamed. Her and Doug (her boyfriend) had not done anything wrong. And it been a mutual decision but she had not realized till too late that it was a wrong decision for her. She felt like she had betrayed Michael in some way and that he would think badly of her. Maria knew before they went any further that she would have to tell him and that scared her more than anything that would follow afterwards.
“Michael. I need to tell you something.” Maria whispered to him. Michael barely heard her and grew concerned that maybe she was changing her mind.
“If you don’t want to do this Maria. It is ok.” Michael told her making her look into his eyes.
“No. No. Michael I do. There is just something you should know before we go any further.”

“This isn’t my first time.” Maria said and looked into Michael’s eyes to gage his reaction. She saw nothing. He didn’t seem surprised at all. In fact he smiled at her.

Part 14
Kyle watched Maria and Michael come down the stairs and knew immediately that he had interrupted something. He was sorry but this was important. He knew that they would both understand.
“This had better be good Kyle.” Michael said to his brother letting him know that he was very annoyed and frustrated at this moment.
Maria had been watching Kyle’s face since they came down the stairs. She was surprised that he didn’t even blink at Michael and her holding hands. Maria figured that Kyle must have known all along that Michael felt that same way about her that she felt about him and silently cursed him. Kyle should have told her. He told her everything else about Michael except of course the important stuff like the fact that Michael was in love with her. After a moment of being mad at Kyle she saw something on his face that worried her a lot. She could almost swear it was fear. But it couldn’t be that because Kyle never showed fear. It was something that he had picked up from Michael. And it was something that had come in handy more than once in their line of work.
“What’s wrong?” Maria asked.
“It’s Dad. He’s been hurt.”
“What?” Michael and Maria both shouted at the same time.
“He is ok. Just beat up a little. On the way home I ran into Hanson. He was on his way over here to find us. Mom is already at the hospital.” Kyle explained
“Beat up. What the hell happened Kyle?” Michael asked pulling both Maria and Kyle out the door with him so they could get to the hospital.
Kyle took the keys from Michael and told them all he knew as he drove them to the hospital. “Hanson said that Dad had gotten an anonymous call that there was a body found near the highway. He went out to investigate it. And before you say anything I know he shouldn’t have gone by himself but you know him. He thinks he is invincible. He told Hanson, thank god, where he was going, and when he didn’t come back or call in Hanson went looking for him. They found him on the side of the road about 10 feet from where the caller said the body was. There wasn’t anything there except for Dad who had been hit pretty hard from behind.”
“Are you sure he is alright Kyle?” Maria asked.
Kyle nodded “Hanson said he had gained consciousness by the time the ambulance got there. He checked in with the hospital and they said that he was fine but the doctors were keeping him overnight for observation.”
“Thank God. I bet Mom is freaking out.” Maria said. She finally let out the breath that she had been holding since Kyle said that their Dad was hurt. She had pictured the worst.
“Do they have any leads?” Michael asked. Now that he knew that his father was ok the Police officer in him came out.
“None what so ever. I told Hanson that at daybreak the two of us would go out and investigate the crime scene.”
Michael nodded his head in agreement. He turned his head and looked at Maria in the back seat. She was wringing her hands and he could see the worry all over her face. Michael reached back and puts his hand on hers.
“Dad is fine Maria. Stop worrying.” Michael told her
“But Michael why would anyone do this?”
“Kyle and I will find out. Trust me.”
“Always.” Maria said
Kyle cleared his throat trying to remind his siblings that they were not alone in the car.
“You two better cool it unless you want them to figure that you are “together” before you get a chance to talk to them.” Kyle warned
Both Michael and Maria shook their heads. They knew they had to make an effort to keep away from each other tonight. The last thing anyone needed was for this whole situation to come out in the open before they were ready to deal with it.
When they got to the hospital they saw Liz and Isabel in the hallway.
“What are you two doing here?” Michael asked them
“Well I was with Kyle when he found out. I called Max. I thought he could be some help. Talk with the doctors and everything. He is in with your mom and dad now.” Isabel explained
“And you?” Michael asked Liz
“I was with Max.” Was all Liz said, a hint of a blush crept up her face. This did not go unnoticed by any of them.
Michael, Kyle and Maria went into their father’s room.
Amy Deluca-Valenti ran over to each of her children and gave them a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She hadn’t gotten a chance to call them t but obviously someone at the station had.
“I’m sorry I should have been the one to call you.” Amy apologized tears in her eyes.
“It’s ok Mom. I ran into Hanson and he told me what was going on.” Kyle said. He went over to his dad’s bed.
“Are you ok?” Kyle asked
“I’m fine son.” Jim said giving each one of his kids a reassuring smile.
Maria went over and kissed her dad on the cheek and gave him a hug. “I was so scared when Kyle told us you were hurt.”
Maria turned to Max and asked. “Is he honestly ok Max?”
Max smiled at Maria “As I was telling your parents, Maria, your Dad has a nasty bump on his head and a slight concussion but other than that he checks out fine.”
“Thanks Maxwell.” Michael puts his hand on Max’s shoulder.
“As soon as Isabel told me I came and checked your Dad out.”
“You three know Dr. Evans.” Jim asked after exchanging questioning looks with his wife.
“Um. Yeah well actually I was going to talk with you two this weekend about this. It seems our family has grown a little. Max and his sister are more than likely my brother and sister.” Michael explained
“What?” Amy and Jim shouted at the same time.
Michael sighed and gave his parents the facts. “Max and Isabel were found in the desert about a week before me. They had been abandoned and didn’t know where they came from or who they were just like me.”
“My god. How come I didn’t know about this?” Jim asked.
Max came forward and addressed the Sheriff. “My parents found Isabel and I. They didn’t bring us to the authorities. They went directly to children services and when there were no reports of any missing children meeting our descriptions my dad, who is a lawyer, went directly to the judge with a petition for adoption. We moved right after the adoption. I think both of them were afraid that someone would come forward and they would lose us if we stayed in Roswell.”
Amy stepped in front of Max and took a good look at him. “You have the same eyes. Yes you are my Michael’s family. I can feel it.” She told him and then gave him a hug.
“Your right Michael I think our family just grew a bit. Your mother will see to it.” Jim told his son giving his hand a squeeze.
A couple of hours later Michael and Kyle went to the crime scene to see if they could find any evidence that might be able to lead them to who did this to their Dad.
“Michael over here.” Kyle said after 10 minutes of searching the surrounding area.
Partially covered up was a necklace with a strange sort of design on it.
Michael leaned down and picked up the necklace. He was hit with a strange flash, which was so strong it nearly made him fall over.
“What? What is it Michael?” Kyle asked as he steadied his brother.
“I know this Kyle. I know this symbol.” Michael said fear evident for the first time ever in his eyes and in his voice.

“What do you mean you know the symbol?” Kyle asked
“I mean. I know it. And I don’t think it is from around here. Come on I need to show this to Max and Isabel.” Michael told Kyle
They got in the truck and drove away not noticing a man standing very near where Kyle found the necklace. He smiled watching the truck retreat in the distance. “I finally found them.” He said and walked away.

Michael called Max and Isabel on their way back into town and told them to meet him back at the apartment. They were there waiting for him when Kyle and he pulled up.
“What is going on?” Max asked.
“Come inside. I have something to show you.” Michael told them.
They walked into inside noticing how tense Michael was and knew that this had to be something related to them.
Maria meet Michael and Kyle at the door. She had intended to ask them if they found anything but after taking one look at Michael’s face she knew it was obvious that they had and it wasn’t good. Maria went over to Michael and he gave her a quick hug before turning his attention back to Max and Isabel.
“Kyle and I were investigating the crime scene where our dad was jumped. We found something that I think you should see.” Michael said as he pulled the necklace out of his pocket.
Max and Isabel who had been sitting down jumped up and grabbed the necklace from Michael’s hand. They both said at the same time. “I know this.”
“I do to.” Michael told them.
Maria looked at Michael and then the others and asked. “Does that mean it is…?” Maria doesn’t get a chance to finish the question when Michael completed it.
Michael nodded. “Alien? Yeah I think so. I got some kind of flash when I picked it up.”
“What kind of flash?” Max asked holding the necklace in his hand. He had not gotten any kind of flash from the necklace and looking at Isabel it was clear that she had not either.
“I don’t know exactly. I saw a bunch of symbols on the desert ground and the three of us looking at a rock formation. I don’t know what that means.”
“What did the rock formation look like Michael?” Isabel asked.
“I don’t know. I can’t describe it exactly.” Michael said obviously frustrated as he ran his hands through his unruly hair.
“Maybe you can draw it.” Maria suggested. Maria was the only one who knew that Michael could draw. Even Kyle did not know about his artistic ability. She wouldn’t have known at all if she hadn’t found some drawing of his once when they were younger.
Michael nodded and went upstairs to get one of his drawing pads. He felt a little uneasy about sketching with everyone watching him but knew he had to give it a shot. This was important. Possibly even a key to them finding out where they came from.
Max and Isabel talked with Kyle and Maria and tried to give Michael the space he needed to work on the sketch but it was obvious that they were anxious to see what Michael saw in his flash.
After about a half an hour Michael stood up and handed the sketchpad to Max and Isabel.
“It isn’t perfect but I think that is pretty close to what I saw.” Michael said as he turned away from Max and Isabel. For some reason he felt embarrassed to share his drawing with the others.

Kyle, who looked over Max’s shoulder saw the drawing, gave Maria a questioning look. He had never known that Michael was so talented. Maria just nodded at him to let Kyle know that she had known.
“Michael I have seen this before.” Isabel finally said.
“So have I.” Max agreed.
“Where?” Kyle and Maria asked at the same time.
“In a Dream.” Both Max and Isabel said.
“We need to find this place. It is here someplace. I know it.” Michael told them
“Liz.” Kyle said out of the blue
“What?” Michael asked his brother obviously confused.
“Liz’s grandmother was an archaeologist. She studied this area for years. She has books, pictures and maps of just about every stretch of Roswell and its surrounding area. Maybe she will have some information about this place if you are sure it is near here.” Kyle explained
“That is great Kyle but what exactly do we tell Liz is the reason we need to look at Grandma Claudia’s research?” Maria asked
“The truth.” Max stated.
“What?” It was Michaels turn to question.
“Max we have never told anyone. Why now?” Isabel asked her brother.
“We can trust Liz. I know it.” Max told them.
“Max is right Michael. We can trust her. It isn’t like she is some stranger. We have known her forever. I mean she was Kyle’s girlfriend for a lifetime and an half.” Maria said
Max raised an eyebrow at that information. Liz had never told him that she had dated Kyle just that they were very good friends.
“Ok we tell her then. Who wants to break the news to her?” Michael finally agreed
“I will.” Max told them. Kyle was about to argue but took a look at Max’s face and chanced his mind. It had been Max’s decision after all and the way he said it made it all seem so final.
Isabel felt helpless. The decision had been taken out of her hands. Michael and Max had decided without even looking to her for agreement. Max always took the role of leader when it came to any sort of major decisions. She was used to that but now she had another brother to deal with who obviously had done the same in his family. Isabel was also scared. All her life it had been her and Max and no one had ever known their secret. Now they come to Roswell and everything suddenly chanced. Not only did they find someone like them but that his brother and “sister” also knew his secret. It was a little hard to accept. Now they wanted to bring another person into it all.
Kyle who had been watching Isabel for a while went over to her after seeing the fear looming in her eyes. “It will be ok Isabel. You can trust Liz. If I didn’t think so I wouldn’t have brought her up. Michael is my brother, blood related or not, I would never put him in danger.” He tried to reassure her
“Thanks Kyle. That does make me feel better. I’m glad Michael had you and Maria.”
“He will always have us, no matter what. Especially Maria.” Kyle said
“Yeah I kind of got that impression.” Isabel smiled looking over at Michael and Max who were talking. Maria was standing to Michael’s side. Not quiet touching him but almost. It was so clear that they were in love with each other.
“Yeah they are pretty obvious at least to everyone else except for themselves. I’m not to sure if they have actually accepted it all yet but I think they are moving in the right direction.” Kyle explained
“Do your parents know?” Isabel asked.
“They know to a point. I think they have decided to keep a blind eye to it. I don’t know if they will be able to for much longer though. It’s going to be interesting is all I can say.”
“I can see why you say that.” Isabel laughed.
Max went over to Isabel and let her know that he was leaving and asked if she wanted a ride. Kyle told Max that he would take her home. They agreed to meet later after Max talked with Liz and asked for her help. Each of them were hoping they would soon find the answers they were looking for.

Part 16
The next day Max called Michael at the station to let him know that Liz was on board. He had spent the entire night talking with her about them and she agreed to let them go through her grandma’s things.
“Just to warn you Michael she is a little upset at all of you for keeping this from her. She feels a little betrayed.” Max told Michael
“Well that is to be expected but she is ok though. Right?” Michael asked suddenly worried that maybe they had made the wrong decision.
“She wont say anything if that is what you are asking.” Max insisted
“Ok. So when are we getting together?”
“Tonight after my shift?”
“Fine.” Michael said
Kyle had walked in on the last part of the conversation and figured it must have been Max he was talking to. “Was that Max?”
“Yep.”
“Did he talk with Liz?” Kyle asked.
“Yes and she is pissed but she is going to help us.”
Kyle sighed. “I was afraid of that. Her being pissed I mean. I really hate dealing with Liz when she is mad. She can hold a grudge forever.”
“Well Max says she is fine. He said they talked all night about it.”
“All night huh? I wonder if all they did was talk.” Kyle said with a smile on his face. He knew that Liz was definitely interested in Max before knowing who he was Kyle just wondered how she felt now.
Michael just shrugged at Kyle’s suggestion. He had no idea what Max and Liz did and frankly he didn’t care as long as Max stayed away from his Maria.

A little while later Jim Valenti came walking into the station. Both Michael and Kyle were surprised to see him there. He’d just gotten released from the hospital yesterday afternoon.
“Dad what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be resting?” Kyle asked.
“Rest. Right. With your mother hovering over me I don’t think so.” Jim laughed
“Plus I needed to come in this afternoon. Santa Fe is finally sending us the computer guy I have been asking for. He is supposed to be here soon.”
“Damn. We must be moving up in the world. We hardly ever get anything we ask for.” Kyle said.
“Well I’m not complaining about it that is for sure. You both know we can seriously use a technical guy in this office.” Jim stated.
A moment later Hanson called back to let Jim know the new guy had arrived. Jim went up front to greet him and show him around.
“And finally these two are the finest that Roswell Sheriff’s Department has to offer. Of course that isn’t saying much considering where we are and also some say I may be a little biased. All that said these are my sons Kyle and Michael.” Jim said as he pointed to them.
“Boys this is Alex Whitman our new IT specialist.”
Kyle and Michael both stood up and shook the new guys hand each of them sizing him up as they did so.
Alex Whitman was a tall, slightly gangly fellow. Kyle shrugged him off as a typical computer nerd. Michael however noticed how Alex seemed to silently observe everything around him. He bet that if he played the whole turn around and close your eyes and tell me everything you remember about the room game that Alex would be able to tell them a hell of a lot. Most likely a lot more than any of them would have been able to. There was a lot more to Alex Whitman than meets the eye he was sure of that.
“So Whitman. What the hell did you do to get sent to Roswell?” Michael finally asked.
Alex smiled slightly. “I actually requested it. My girlfriend just took a job at the hospital as a physical therapist and basically where she goes I follow.”
“Girlfriend huh? Must be pretty serious for you to pick up and move half way across the state.” Michael stated.
“Well we have been together most of our lives. Her dad took me in after my parents died in a car crash. She’s family plus.” Alex said with a smile
Michael nodded his head. He knew how that was. Maria and he were the same way. They were much more than just family.
“Well Alex since I wasn’t exactly expecting you so soon I haven’t gotten a chance to set up room for you so why don’t you take the other desk back here with Kyle and Michael. I am sure they won’t mind.” Jim said clearly showing by his expression that he did not want to hear any complaints from either of his sons. They had basically chased everyone who had been set up with them away so that is why there was a free desk. No one wanted it.
“Great. I will see you tomorrow then.” Alex shook Jim’s hand and headed out.
“Seems like a nice enough fellow.” Jim stated and walks into his office.
“Typical computer nerd.” Kyle said to Michael.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. There is a lot more to Alex Whitman than just computers.”
“What do you mean?” Kyle asked.
Michael shrugged. “I don’t know. Just a feeling I got.”
“Not like with Max.” Kyle asked the alarm clearly evident in his voice.
“No nothing like that. There is just something off.”
“You think we should run a check on him?”
Michael shook his head. “What good would that do? He is a computer expert. He could make his records say whatever he wanted.”
“Good point.”
“We will just have to keep a close eye on him.” Michael stated and Kyle nodded his head in agreement.

Max and Isabel arrived a little after 7 that evening. Max was obviously agitated about something.
“What?” Michael asked.
“I met someone today at he hospital. There is something familiar about her.” Max said.
“How familiar? Like us familiar?” Michael asked.
Max nodded “I’m not sure but I think so.”
Maria who had just walked in the door had heard their conversation. “When is this going to end?” Maria said and walked up the stairs to her room.
Michael started to follow her but Kyle stopped him. “Let her go. She will come down as soon as she is ready.”
Michael relented and walked back to the others and started to ask questions about the new girl.
“She is the new physical therapist. She came here from Santa Fe.”
Kyle and Michael looked at each other.
Michael now was sure more than ever that there was more to Alex Whitman then meets the eye and he was going to find out what it was.

Ok so when I originally started writing this fic I never planned for Alex or Tess to be a part of it but then my story took over and started writing for itself. Don't you love that. LOL!!! So yes I'm afraid, those that were hoping for a non-gerbel fic, you will be disappointed. But I will say this, she will not ruin any current relationships. But of course she does bring trouble.
Karen- When I wrote this fic I ended with part 18 and it stayed in WIP mode for about 3 years so I am kind of cheating for the first 18 parts as they are already written. I'm just rewriting, adding and correcting them as I go. But now I have started writing it again and have written up to part 24 and I think it should be coming to a conclusion by part 30.

I'm afraid Tess is now part of the fic. Sorry it is important that she be there. And the only hint I'm going to give on whether Alex and Tess are bad is that they seem one way but they are actually another.

Part 17
After hours of discussing Roswell’s two newest residents Alex Whitman and Tess Harding everyone came to an agreement that they needed to be followed. The group needed to know who they were and more importantly want they wanted. Michael and Kyle were afraid that Alex and Tess were somehow involved in their dad’s attack and it made them even more determined to get the answers they were looking for.
Michael kept looking at the stairs every time he heard any noise hoping to see Maria coming down but as the hours went by it was evident that she wasn’t going to. After Max and Isabel left he headed up towards her room.
“She is just a little freaked right now.” Kyle said as Michael started up the stairs.
“I know.” Was all Michael said.
Michael knocked on her door but didn’t get an answer so he opened the door anyhow. He found the room empty. For a moment he panicked and then figured she must be in his room waiting for him to come up. He took a deep breath before opening his bedroom door. Maria was lying in the middle of his bed sound asleep. He kicked off his shoes and slide in behind her pulling her close to his body. She gradually woke up.
“Are the alien invaders gone for the night?” She whispered
Michael laughed and kissed her gently on the neck. “Yes.” He pulled her tighter against him. “Are you ok?”
“Am now. I’m sorry I kind of freaked. Our lives were going pretty good but now everything is changing. It just scares me.” Maria said as she pulled Michael’s arm closer and kissed it.
“Well not all the changes are bad.” Michael said trying to lighten it up a bit. He knew that all of this was scary. He was just as scared as she was maybe more. He was afraid that his family was going to get hurt in all of this. He didn’t know what he would do if something happened to any of them.
“No not all the changes are bad.” Maria agreed turning her body around in his arms. She now faces Michael and wrapped her arms around him.
“Maria. I love you. You know that right?” Michael said.
“Yes. And I love you. So much. God Michael I am just so afraid I am going to lose you just as we have found each other.” Maria said as the tears fall from her eyes.
Michael wiped the tears from her cheeks. “Shh. You will never lose me. That is a promise. I would die without you.” Michael told her as he leaned down and kissed her.
As usual their kisses began to become more and more passionate. Maria started to remove Michael’s shirt but he pulled back and puts his hands overtop of her.
“We can’t Maria. God knows how much I want to but we can’t. Not until this is all straightened out.” Michael insisted
Maria looked into Michael’s eyes and saw that desire and love in them. She knew that he was telling the truth that he does want this and she also knows that he was probably right. Now wasn’t the best time for them to start this.
“Ok. But can we at least hold each other tonight. I need to be close to you.” Maria asked hopefully.
Michael nodded and motioned for Maria to turn around. Once again he spooned up behind her, holding her as close as he could. They fall asleep in each other’s arms knowing that no matter what happens next that their love will always be strong.

The next morning Michael awakened to find Maria still in his arms. He was now lying on his back with her snuggled against his chest. It felt like heaven. Nothing that he had ever felt in his life had been as good as waking up with Maria in his arms. He kissed her forehead and got out of bed surprisingly without waking her up. She was obviously exhausted from all the worrying she had done last night.
He got dressed and wrote Maria a note, which he left on the pillow next to her and kissed her on the forehead once more before leaving. Kyle was waiting for him in the kitchen. He poured Michael a cup of coffee and handed it to him.
“She ok?” Kyle asked
“She is scared to death but besides that she is ok. How are you doing with all this?” Michael asked his brother.
“Well I have to admit I’m a little afraid myself. Not so much for me but for you and everyone else.”
“Including Isabel?” Michael asked with a smile on his face.
“Yes including Isabel.” Kyle said. “Not discussing that with you though. So don’t even ask.”
“You will eventually. You know you can’t keep anything from me brother. Oh by the way speaking of your blabbermouth. Thanks a lot for telling Maria that I haven’t had sex before.” Michael said as he smacked his brother on the back of the head.
“Hey what are brothers for.” Kyle said giving Michael one of his legendary cheesy smiles.
“Oh put those dimples away. Save them for Isabel.” Michael rolled his eyes at Kyle.
They continue to banter back and forth with each other until Maria came walking into the kitchen. The both stopped talking immediately. Maria just smiled at them shaking her head as she got herself a cup of coffee.
“Thought you were still sleeping” Michael said to Maria.
“Well I was until I heard you two down here bickering.”
“We weren’t bickering Maria. Just giving each other a hard time.” Kyle said in their defense.
“I know. It was actually nice to hear, a little more normal then of late. You know? Well you two better get going or you are going to be late.”
“Yes Maria.” Kyle and Michael said at the same time. Kyle went over and kissed Maria on the cheek and walked out the door leaving Michael and Maria to say goodbye in privacy.
“Be careful.” Maria whispered to Michael.
“Always.” Michael said kissing Maria goodbye on the lips. He rested his forehead against hers for a moment and then quickly kissed the tip of her nose and followed Kyle out the door.
Michael got into the patrol vehicle with Kyle knowing that today he was going to get to know everything there was to know about Alex Whitman and his girlfriend Tess Harding.

After hours of discussing Roswell’s two newest residents Alex Whitman and Tess Harding everyone came to an agreement that they needed to be followed. The group needed to know who they were and more importantly want they wanted. Michael and Kyle were afraid that Alex and Tess were somehow involved in their dad’s attack and it made them even more determined to get the answers they were looking for.
Michael kept looking at the stairs every time he heard any noise hoping to see Maria coming down but as the hours went by it was evident that she wasn’t going to. After Max and Isabel left he headed up towards her room.
“She is just a little freaked right now.” Kyle said as Michael started up the stairs.
“I know.” Was all Michael said.

Part 18
Two weeks later…
After weeks of following and keeping an eye out on Alex Whitman and his girlfriend Tess Harding the group still knew nothing about them. They seemed to be a normal couple who had just moved to Roswell to start over at new jobs.
As predicted when looking into their past everything looked normal, almost too normal. They were sure that Alex had done his computer magic and made their histories look however they wanted them to. As Alex had told Michael and Kyle, Ed Harding had taken in Alex after his parents were killed in a car accident some 10 years before. There really wasn’t much information at all on Ed Harding other than he was a single parent whose wife had died when Tess was eight. Alex and Tess had typical histories. They graduated high school in the tops of their class went to college where they both did well. Tess had worked at a hospital in Santa Fe for 2 years as a physical therapist but then quit when she got a job in Roswell. Alex had worked for the State Police for 2 years until he requested a transfer to Roswell so he could follow his girlfriend. Nothing out of the ordinary at all but it was obvious to all of them that Alex and Tess were anything but ordinary.
Max had seen Tess use her powers twice since he had been following her and he was still getting that strange pull towards her every time she was near. He could feel her as soon as she walked into the room. Michael and Kyle had been watching Alex but they hadn’t observed him doing anything unusual except that he had been looking into Michael’s records with county services. It was obvious to everyone that the two definitely had other reasons for moving to Roswell besides a job opportunity.
Isabel, Maria and Liz had been going through all of Liz’s grandmother’s files and work to see if they could find any location that matched the place that Isabel, Max and Michael had dreamed about. They still had not found what they were looking for. Liz had been mad that they had lied to her all these years but after she talked with Maria and Kyle and even to Michael she calmed down a lot. She also seemed to be getting fairly close to Max. They were spending a great deal of time together when they weren’t investigating Tess or her grandmother’s files.
Love definitely seemed to be in the air in the Valenti-Deluca-Guerin household when it became obvious that Kyle and Isabel were also getting very close. Michael and Maria were still taking it slow. They had decided to not take the next step until everything had been straightened out but they were still very much together. They still had not broken the news to their parents yet but as for the rest of the group they knew exactly where Maria and Michael stood with each other.

“So Maxwell anything new to report with our mysterious little alien today?” Michael asked.
“Well she asked me if I wanted to have lunch with her tomorrow.” Max said shyly.
“What?” Everyone in the room asked at the same time.
“She asked you out on a date?” Liz asked.
“No not a date, lunch. She has made it obvious that she has a boyfriend. She just said she wanted to get to know me better.” Max said trying to reassure Liz.
“So are you doing it?” Isabel asked her brother.
“Yeah. We want to try to find out who she is. Right? So how better than for me to get close to her.” Max said.
“I don’t think that is a good idea Maxwell. You don’t know what she is really after. She could be dangerous. Let’s not forget that someone did attack my dad and I have a pretty good idea who it was.” Michael told Max.
“We don’t know that for sure Michael. She could have come here the same reason that Isabel and I did. To find out information about where she came from. She could be just looking for us.”
“Just be careful Max.” Michael said.
“Always.” Max said and turned towards Liz. “So Ms. Parker anything new to report on your end?” Max asked
“Still nothing yet Max. I’m sorry. We have looked through almost all of Grandma Claudia’s research but nothing has come up like you three described.” Liz said laying a hand on Max’s arm letting him know how sorry she really was.
“Well it was worth a try.” Max smiled at Liz.
Maria and Kyle had been watching the interaction between Max and Liz and they rolled their eyes at each other. To think that Max had once been interested in Maria and now he was mooning over Liz. They really were kind of sickening to watch. It was just too sweet for words.
Everyone decided to call it a night and just go have a little fun for once. Isabel and Kyle decided to go dancing and Max and Liz decided to go take a drive out in the desert while Maria and Michael decided to just stay in for the night since they had the apartment all to themselves.
“So what do you want to do?” Maria asked Michael.
“I don’t know. I am just so damn tired I don’t know if I will be up for much of anything tonight.” Michael said.
Maria came over to Michael and wrapped her arms around his middle. “You have hardly slept at all the last couple of weeks. Why don’t you just go to bed?” She said as she reached up and kissed his lips gently.
“I will go to bed if you come with me. I sleep better when you are there.” Michael said with a little twinkle in his eyes.
“You do huh? Well by all means let’s go to bed then.” Maria said pulling him up the stairs behind her. “Let me get into my night clothes. I will be just a few minutes.”
As Maria went to her room she decided that tonight she was going to seduce Michael. She was tired of waiting. She wanted him now. They loved each other and there was no reason that they should wait any longer.
In the other room Michael was thinking similar thoughts. He didn’t know he if was going to be able to stop tonight. Part 19
When Maria walked into Michael’s room she was surprised to find the room lit in only candlelight. “Michael?”
Michael walked out of the shadows dressed in only a pair of low riding pajama bottoms. The sight of Michael’s bare chest made Maria’s body tingle. She looked into his eyes, her own eyes full of questions.
“I don’t want to wait anymore. I need you Maria.” Michael whispered as he stepped in front of Maria.
