So, I'm back. At long last. LOL. I'm sorry for disappearing for so long. Big thank to the lovely Bre for reading over this quickly for me so that I wouldn't have to wait to post. *kisses*

Part 11
Lie in The Sound

Sunlight filtered through the carelessly drawn curtains, casting Sean Deluca in an almost angelic glow. Liz laid on her side and watched him in quiet despair. She loved him more than she should. She didn’t want to love him. It was the last thing that she wanted. Things would be so much easier if she was indifferent to him. She would be so much happier if she was indifferent to him.

Beside her, Sean continued to sleep, blissfully unaware of the turmoil that he provoked inside of her. The slow but steady rise and fall of his chest captivated her. The bedcovers that Liz had given him the night before had been tugged down sometime during the night, exposing his chest to her greedy eyes. Her fingers itched to rediscover every inch of his body, but she resisted the temptation. She could never give in, not if she wanted to keep her heart intact.

The sound of scratching against the bedroom door broke the spell that he had unknowingly cast over her. She sighed and stared up at the ceiling for a moment, trying to calm the feelings that whirled around inside of her, before she got up and headed back into the real world that awaited her outside of the bedroom.

“His forehead is too big. It’s so big that it could be used as a billboard” Liz muttered to Pippin as she moved around the kitchen, trying to keep busy while Sean slept in her room. “His whole head, in fact, is a funny shape. It is almost the same shape as the little gray aliens. And his eyes are a little too close together.”

“Ouch, I forgot how mean you can be in the morning.”

“Oh my God!” Liz gasped, clutching her chest as her heart beat frantically. “You scared me! Don’t creep up on me. It’s creepy and well, it’s creepy!”

“So now I have to deal with being creepy as well as having a funny shaped head.”

“How do you know that I was talking about you? You‘re not the only person in the world with a giant forehead.” She blushed and suddenly wished that she was mute.

“And once again, with the ouch.” Sean touched his forehead and frowned. Obviously her words had hit a little too close to home. “You are seriously mean this morning. I think I remember the cure though!”

Sean smirked, which irritated Liz. She hated that he found her so amusing.

“I was offering to make you breakfast.” He stated, still smirking. “You need to get your mind out of the gutter. Not everything is about sex.”

“Ha!” Liz scoffed while considering smothering him with a pillow or hitting him with a frying pan. She couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed though. They had spent the night together in the same bed and Sean was meant to be a typical guy. The least he could have done was make a move. It would have made her feel better about the dirty thoughts she’d been having about him. “Like I believe…”

She stopped mid sentence when she saw Sean wince with pain as he shifted awkwardly. “Are you okay? Does your leg hurt?”

“Always. I can‘t wait to get this stupid cast off.” He said with a pained smile. “I’m going to take some painkillers and then I’m going to make you breakfast. Unless you want the sex. I would be willing to work through the pain.”

“How utterly unselfish of you. First, you save little boys from burning building and then you offer to sleep with me even though you’re in pain. What a guy.” Liz said dryly as she rolled her eyes and helped Sean to the couch.

“What can I say?” Sean asked with another wince as he settled back onto the couch. Liz fussed around him for a moment longer than necessary, adjusting and readjusting pillows. “I’m a giver.”

Liz snorted as she stepped back and looked down at Sean. “I’ll get you some painkillers and a glass of water. I don‘t want you crying to your aunt Amy that you were mistreated during your stay here.”

“Are you going to spit in my water?”

Liz shrugged, “It depends on what you say to annoy me in the next couple of minutes.”

“My lips are sealed.”

“If only they were sealed with superglue.”

“I need a huge favor!” Judith, aka Liz’s former friend, stated as she entered Liz’s apartment unannounced as usual.

“I’m not talking to you.” Liz whispered as she glared at the redhead. “Ever again! The last couple of hours have been utter hell for me.” She pointed in the direction of the living and continued to whisper furiously at Judith. “Did you see how cute he looks in there all injured and vulnerable? Do you know how horny I am?”

“God, you straight people are so weird!” Judith said, wrinkling her nose in disgust. “Why do you make everything so difficult? You know, what I did yesterday was totally helping you. You have to get over this fear. If you want to have sex with Sean, have sex with Sean! If you want to live happily ever after with him, then do it. Stop making everything so damn hard! And can we please stop whispering? I feel like I am back in high school. ”

“Damn it, that’s not what I wanted to hear.” Liz cursed and glared at Judith. “Why can’t you understand that it’s not that easy.”

“It is, Liz. You’re the one making it so hard.” Judith gripped Liz’s shoulders and gave her a little shake. “Listen to me, Parker. I want you to go in there and have some mind blowing sex with Sean. And then I want you to think about your future with him. Okay? Can you do that?”

“What? No. I can’t.” Liz shook her head violently and pretended she didn't find the idea appealing.

“Well, can you look after Joshua? Teresa been called into work again and I have to do this…thing.”

“What thing?” Liz asked, her eyebrow raised questioningly.

Judith shrugged, “It is a secret, but I’ll totally tell you when I pick Joshua up. Come on, Liz, it will only be for a couple of hours. I will totally owe you!”

“You already owe me!” Liz pointed out before she gave in and agreed to look after Joshua. Hopefully, he would be the perfect distraction.

“You’re the best! Teresa will bring him over before she leaves.” Judith nosily kissed Liz’s cheek before running out of the apartment.

Liz ran a hand through her hair and sighed, “I really need to start charging these people!”
