MARIE

“Lily,”

I roll my eyes at Lily’s greeting, its so typical of Lily to use nicknames that would normally be insulting as terms of endearment and geek is one of her favorite pet names for me along with jock, nerd and did I already mention geek? Sigh. I guess it wouldn’t matter if there wasn’t any truth in the nicknames but the sad thing is that I am a geeky jock and I’m happy with my life. I have my sports, my books, an annoying brother and two loving parents. What else do I need?

Unlike my brother, I don’t feel the need to break all the rules. Maybe that’s because I am more like my Dad and James is more like our Mom. I actually can’t explain what goes on with James. Sometimes its like he hates our Dad and I know for a fact that there have been times when he has wanted to leave home. He’s just so confusing but then again, aren’t most guys?

“Would you please do something for me?” Lily asks with a butter wouldn’t melt smile. Alarm bells instantly start ringing in my head and take my mind off of thoughts of James. When does Lily ever use the word please? And why is she looking at me like that?

“What?” I ask suspiciously. I’m tempted to back away slightly, the innocent look on Lily’s face is scaring me. “Do you need English notes again?”

Lily scoffs, “No I do not need English notes. Do you ever think of anything other then school and sports?” She shakes her head. “What are you doing this weekend?”

I shrug, “Nothing much. I checked out War and Peace from the library so I figured I would read it over the weekend.”

“Wow, I’m sure War and Peace is going to keep you warm at night.” Lily says with distaste. “You need to get laid!”

“Thanks,” I say sarcastically. I spot Christina heading towards us with a mischievous look on her face. I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to see Christina in my life.

"What up, biotch," She says pouncing on Lily’s back. "So, you guys all know you are going tonight, right?” She says as she rummages around in a bag, Lily nods smugly and I can quickly feel my relief over Christina’s arrival dying. “Well, anyways, here is my outfit. So, what do you guys think? Like it?"

“Oooh, that’s hot. I can’t believe you went shopping without me!” Lily whines.

“Won’t you get cold?” I ask with a frown. The skirt looks more like a belt actually I think it might be a belt and the top, well there are no words.

“Then she’ll have to find someone to keep her warm,” Lily says with a wicked smile. “Christina, tell our sweet friend here that she is coming with us to the party.”

“I can’t.” I say quickly before Christina can say anything. “Its not legal and my Dad is the Sheriff. And I have nothing to wear!”

After shutting my locker, I glance around. Kids are hurrying around me, scurrying to get to the buses. It’s Friday, thankfully. School is out for the weekend. Two days of freedom…that is unless Mom asks me to help her with something.

I slowly make my way through the halls in no rush. I have a car so no more rushing to catch another mode of transportation for me. It’s a restored Mustang that Kyle…should I say Sheriff Valenti helped me with. Dad’s great with music and computers but he’s not all that great with mechanics where as I seem to have a natural talent for it. That’s when he pointed me toward Kyle when I told him what I wanted to buy. Apparently Kyle had worked at one of the local garages during high school and knew a thing or two about cars. He knew a lot it turns out.

Turning a hall I stop. In the distance I see Christina. She’s standing there with Marie and Lily. I lean against the wall and watch silently. Despite the distance I hear them talking about going to the party tonight. Then Christina takes out some measley pieces of material out of a bag. She’s wearing that? I wonder. It would barely cover any skin. I wasn’t really interested in going to the party except to hear Sabrina band play but now, I think my interest just increased. I don’t like Christina’s choice of clothing and I’m sure boys are going be gawking at her all night. Yep, that settles it. I’m going just to keep an eye on her.

I turn silently and head in the opposite direction. I rush down another hall as I see Oliver standing at his locker. As I finally get to my car I head to the Crash where I know Sabrina is heading. She had asked for a ride earlier and I want to make sure she knows I’m going.

I bustled around my cafe all day, making sure supply orders were in and that the shelves were well stocked. I'd always thought it was easy for my parents to run the Crashdown, but now I fully appreciated what it took to keep this place alive and running. Ever since I'd inherited it, It always seemed like the more that I got done, the more there was to do. The list never ended!

At the present moment I was needed as a waitress; one of our other ones went home sick. Putting on the silly little outfit that, surprisingly, still fit from my youth, I smiled into the mirror. Oh, how Max had loved this outfit. Still grinning widely, I move to get some customer's orders.

"What can I get you?" I asked them politely, smiling my hundred watt smile. The customers rattled off their orders and I scribbled them down, taking them to the back just in time to here the house phone ring. Jumping, I rushed to it, something in me knowing without a doubt who would be on the other end of the line.

His voice echoed over the telephone. "Hey Honey. I may be a few minutes late tonight. Darlene got detention again so I may need to stick around a little longer.” I let out a sigh at the sound of his rich, smooth tone.

"Alright, I'll be sure to hold off dinner until you get back," I replied, my voice sounding breathy even to my own ears. It was amazing that, after all these years, he still managed to take my breath away. "Listen, Honey, I have to go. Customers are waiting!" I said regretfully, saying goodbye and hanging up the phone.

"Hey!" a voice behind me called, and I turned to see my daughter, Amy, walking up to me. "I'll just go get changed." she said, giving me a peck on the cheek. "How was your day?"

"Fine, honey, thanks for asking!" I said, giving her a small hug. "Go get your uniform on and then we'll talk!" I said, pointing her in the direction of the back room.

"Oliver! Kindly pay attention to this lecture, it will most certainly be on your test!" A very irate Mr. Wayne yelled, grabbing my attention. I had previously been joking around and slacking off with some of the other people sitting in the back row.

"Come on, there's 5 minutes until the bell rings!" I said, leaning back in my chair and smirking when several girls giggled. I'd no idea what was up with them, but the more I acted bad, the more they tried to grab my attention. Girls were weird.

"In those 5 minutes you might here something that is possibly on your biology midterm!" The dork in the lab coat replied, huffing indignantly. "And please refrain from leaning back in your chair. 4 on the floor, Mr. Adams."

I laughed out loud at the pathetic cliché, pointedly leaning back further. "Who gives a--"

"That is quite enough!" Mr. Wayne yelled, looking positively scandalized. "No will you please turn your attention to page 137 once again--" The bell buzzed at that particular moment, cutting him off. I grinned innocently at him, knowing I wasted our last few minutes of class with pointless arguing. I hopped up and following some of my buddies out the door without further ado.

"Dude, that was awesome!" Nick laughed. "Did you see the look on his face?"

"He's such a wimp," I replied dispassionately, already turning my thoughts onto the weekend. I would head to the Crashdown now, and then hit the party going on later tonight at around 9:00.

As I walked out to my car, several girls winked at me or batted their eye lashes, but I just ignored them. Reaching my car, I got in and drove the local restaurant that Amy's parents owned. Amy. Now there was a chick that I could go for. She was a hot little thing, but very conservative and sweet. Usually not my style, but not a bad combination in her case. Too bad she'd never want the bad boy, and I liked who I was too much to change. Ah, well.

Reaching the Crashdown, I pulled into a parking spot and got out. The little bell jingled as I entered, and I scanned the area for signs of anyone interesting.

((hope this doesn't stink up the place. Not much human interaction going on here right now))

Michael

Today was my one day off from work; and I was doing more work. I sat at the coffee table, sketchpad in front of me, with a picture of Maria beside it. I had a lot of my time taken up with the Crashdown and the UFO center, but I had seen a sign up sheet for an adult art class on Friday evenings last week, so I had jumped to join.

So, now I was sitting at the table drawing my assignment, which was to draw a picture of someone who meant a lot to me. Maria had been on my mind lately, and as I sat there sketching with the Hockey game going on wordlessly in the background (old habits die hard), my mind returned to her.

She hadn't been home for a while, and she usually called once a week, but the last two weeks I hadn't heard from her. I wasn't worried though, because she did this a lot, but all the same I missed seeing her, and hearing her voice. Hopefully she'd call soon.

I went back to the drawing, and realized I hadn't followed the picture, but instead had drawn her as she'd looked back when we were teenagers. Maria'd love to see it; I'd have to make a copy before I handed it in.

I was finally finished, and the game was going into overtime, so I turned the sound back on and settled into the chair behind me. At least for now I was comfortable. The class didn't start for a few hours, and the kids had plans for tonight, so I kicked back with the phone beside me in case Maria called.

"Nothing to wear?" I ask in mock surprise. "Well, chica, we can fix that." I grab Marie's arm quickly and grin at Lily, motioning for her to do the same. "I am not taking no for an answer," I add, moving towards the exit. I want to get down to the crashdown and see if Tyler is going tonight, because I'll need a ride.

I've been thinking about this all day, and here's what I came up with.

Oliver: I was thinking pyrokinetics, but I don't know of too many occurrences where I could bring him in contact with fire, so I was also thinking about mind control. I'm not sure if someone has that already, but I was thinking he would be able to enter people's minds and make them think and do things.

Laura: I was thinking she could make people feel excited/happy/uplifted. Since she's bubbly in personality, I think it would be fitting. I was also thinking about Clairvoyance for seeing the past by touching people and objects.

Both would have the small powers that the original group had (like being able to open locked doors and close them, etc.)

~James~

I’m scanning the Crashdown rather bored as I wait for Tyler to get there. He’d better be coming, otherwise I’d have something to discuss with his jock friends just for the damned fun of it. Just as I note that he’s entering I lean back simply thinking that he’d better be glad he made it. "Hey James," he greets me as he sits across from me and motions the waitress over to the table. "Hi, Mallory, could I get a cherry coke?"

"Of course you can, Tyler," the woman responded and moved to get the drink.

"So, you going tonight?" Tyler asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Mystic Fae is playing at the rave and I want to go. Then, we can go to the club in the next town over tomorrow night...hey, what's that?" I smirk as I realize where he’s pointing. "You get another tattoo?" I nod in reply and grin. "One of these days your dad's gonna find out. So what is it this time?"

“Let my old man find out, there’s nothing he can do about it.” I reply before glancing around to make certain no one that would say anything to my dad was around. As soon as I was certain it was safe to show off the tattoo, I pulled the top of my shirt down to show the tribal outlined so far, “When I’m done it’ll be a tribal symbol with a phoenix in the center.” I told Tyler with a grin.

“As to the party, do you really think I’m missing the chance to go party? We’re there. And, Tyler… man… why don’t you stop watching Sabrina from afar and talk to her? It’s obvious you have the hot's for her.” I say, thinking that it’s time for him to stop pussy footing around. “I’m planning on saying something to Lily myself.” I admit, though saying something really isn’t what’s in my mind. I have a few other thoughts in my mind as to how I’m going to make my move.

I sigh and glance around, wondering where that hellfire of a girl is. I’d seen her sister come in, but that didn’t mean anything. They weren’t joined at the hip. Though, I also wondered whether my sister was planning on spending yet another boring night at home and if so I wondered if that meant she would be able to cover for me. Dad would have a fit if he knew I was going to this party. Not because of it being a party, simply because I never stayed out of trouble. I don’t know how many times I should have been arrested but wasn’t.

With a grin I glance over at Sabrina who’s laughing at something one of her band mates said before looking at Tyler, “Look at that, little miss shy is actually laughing in public.” I comment, knowing that normally it gets a rise out of my friend. I couldn't resist. It seemed as though it was obvious how interested he was in the Whitman girl. At least, I had been cool enough so it wasn't obvious. I'd only ended up mentioning to Tyler from time to time that I thought Lily was hot, otherwise I hadn't really said much.

~Sabrina~

Maggie, Dawn, Leta and I sat down and ordered our drinks, talking over what we were going to do for sets when I saw Tyler walk in and couldn’t help but watch him a moment from beneath my eyelids while I spoke to Leta. “No, no… we aren’t going to start with a ballad. I’m thinking we want to start with one of our more upbeat tunes. Maybe, Danger or You Are. And we can end with the one we don’t start with. Remember, part of one of our numbers we’re all planning on milling with the crowd, we need to be certain that they are enjoying themselves or we’re not going to be able to make it.”

“Ya know, Sabs. I just had a fantastic idea.” Dawn starts and I glance away from Tyler with a sigh, “Why don’t you mill with the crowd during ‘Do You See’ and we can remain on stage, then whichever song we do after we all mill? It would be perfect.”

I can’t help but laugh at the way Dawn’s expression has changed or the fact that for once she had a wonderful idea. “I think, Dawn… that you just proved that you have a brain no matter how much you try not to show it.”

“I did?” She starts and then laughed, “Well, damn. Here I was hoping I’d be able to continue to keep everyone fooled.” I shake my head and find myself glancing back towards Tyler’s table, noting that he and James are in a conversation so for the moment I can easily watch him without feeling embarrassed.

“I think I’m going to go ask Tyler if he’ll be there to watch our gig…” Maggie begins to stand and I turn grabbing her wrist.

“Don’t you dare!” I exclaim and then lower my head in embarrassment, hoping no one actually heard my outburst. After a moment, I continue quietly. “Don’t do that to me, Mags. Please.” I notice that all three of the girls are simply looking toward Tyler and Dawn is actually pointing toward me. “Girls, quit fooling around.” I make certain that I sound as stern as I can. “We have work to do. So, either enjoy your drinks and let’s continue going over music, or let’s get practicing. We still need to go over to Leta’s to get changed.”

(ooc; I made up Oliver's lines in this because... well, I am Oliver, lol. I'm pretty sure I don't mind. )

Laura

I arrived at the Crashdown and walked in, letting the smell of greasy burgers and salty French fries wash over me. Usually I worked here after school, but luckily it was my day off. This gave me the opportunity to sit around and slack off while I watched my best friend work.

I looked around for Amy, but I didn't see her; I guessed she was in the back changing into the bright aqua-blue waitress uniform. Rolling my eyes at the thought of the identical one sitting in my closet, I started to head over to my usual booth when I caught site of Oliver.

"Hey," I said, walking over and plopping down into his booth.

He grunted in response, chomping on some fries.

"Tina wanted me to talk to you," I said, rolling my eyes and taking a sip of his coke. He snatched it away in disgust, and I laughed in response.

"Is there a reason?" he grumbled, looking sour as usual.

"Well, she said that you were never interested in anyone, and she wanted me to talk to you for her. I don't really know why; maybe she thinks I can convince you to go out with her or something." I finished, now nibbling on his fries. "Too bad you're so antisocial."

"Hey!" he said indignantly. "I just don't want a chic clinging to my side every second of every day." he snorted, rolling his eyes. "They suck the life out of a guy."

"Nice." I commented, thinking that poor Amy was really blind if she couldn't see all the faults my brother had.

"Anyone interesting show up yet?" I questioned, looking around the cafe. I noticed James and stiffened slightly. Wherever James was Tyler was usually close behind. Tyler Guerin, both my crush and my major annoyance. My crush because he made my heart go pitty-pat, and my annoyance because his heart went pitty-pat over someone else. Or so I suspected.

"He's not here," My brother grunted, showing his annoying habit for always being able to pinpoint what I was thinking.

"Why? Is he following Sabrina around?" I asked, unable to hold back my sneer. I really did like Sabrina, Isabel and Alex Whitman's daughter, but our silent competition over Tyler kept us from being friends.

Oliver shrugged. "Probably not, considering she's here too."

"Oh, well--" My mouth snapped closed as I saw the object of our conversation walk in, looking carefree and nonchalant as he headed to James's table. Deciding to take a chance, I quickly jumped up from Oliver's table and made my way over to James and Tyler's. Sliding in next to James, who was like a brother to me, I gave them a casual smile.

"What's up guys?"
