Chapter 11
“Ahhhhh!” Liz screamed. She couldn't bare the pain. It was, too much. Maria was sitting beside Liz wiping her head with a wet wash rag. Sarah was beside her holding her hand and Laura was timing the contractions. All the guys were getting things the girls said they needed. Like a bowl of water. Towels, dry and wet. The plastic gloves that Laura bought for when the baby came. And other stuff.
Rath was running to get something when the door flew open and Zan and Alex ran in. Rath went over to them.
“Wats wrong wit, Liz?” Zan asked worriedly.
“Go see for ya self, Duke.” Rath said as another scream came out of Liz.
Zan ran into her room and saw something he never thought he’d see tonight. He saw the woman he loved. Sweating and pregnant. He saw the pain in her eyes and he saw how the pain turned to love as she looked at him. Maria got up and walked over to him.
“She really needs you, Zan.” Maria said walking out of the room to get another wet wash rag.
Zan walked over to Liz. Wide eyed. Liz was calming down as the contraction started to stop for awhile.
Liz started to cry, “I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you. I was scared and didn’t know what you would think.”
Zan gave Liz a hurt look as he combed a piece of hair out of her eyes. He kissed her forehead. He stood up. Liz looked up at him.
“Your not leaving, are you?” Liz asked as she cried.
Zan shook his head he leaned to her ear, “Neva.” He whispered. He took his jacket off and then sat beside Liz and held her hand.
Zan started to remember the one night that him and Liz shared together. It wasn’t that long ago, then he remembered that his protector said that Alien pregnancy took two months at the least. Zan looked down at Liz. The beautiful woman that was carrying his child. The woman he loved.
Liz squeezed Zan’s hand as another contraction came. Laura looked down, and saw that it was no contraction. She looked up at Liz who was keeping a scream inside.
“Liz, it’s time.” She said. Liz looked up at Zan. He gave her a quick kiss.
“Maria! We need everyone in here.” Laura yelled. Soon everyone was in their. Laura started giving everyone a job. She of, course was going to deliver the baby. “Ok, Liz we need you to push.” Laura said looking at Liz. Liz took a deep breath and pushed as hard as she could. Rath who was holding the blanket for when the baby came out, was about to get sick, at the sight he was seeing. Liz kept pushing until she ran out of breath.
“Ok, I can see part of the head.” Laura said.
“A head!.....I ....I pushed....that much.....for you to....to see part...of the head!” Liz yelled.
“Liz I need you to push again.” Laura said. Liz started shaking her head. Not wanting to push. “Liz just a couple more pushes and you’ll be done.”
Liz started to push, squeezing Zan and Maria’s hands until they were purple. Liz could feel something against her thigh.
“The heads out.” Laura said smiling. Rath smiled, too. ‘Maybe’s a baby bein’ born isn’t dat gross.’Rath thought.
“Ok, one big push. And you’ll be done Liz.” Laura said.
Liz breathed in deeply and then pushed.
“Ahhhhhhhhh.......!”She yelled.
Liz’s scream was taken over by a baby’s cry. Liz was crying with joy when she heard the baby.
“Liz. Zan. Ya’s have a beautiful baby boy.” Rath said handing them their child.
Laura smiled and then went to the bathroom to wash her hand. Maria and Sarah were both crying with the happiness of the birth. Alex, Billy, and Rath were smiling down at the new family.
Liz looked over at Zan. “So’s wats we gonna call him?” Zan asked as he place a kiss on Liz’s head.
“How about Zan Jeffery. After his daddy and his grandpa.” Liz said. Zan nodded his head. He looked down at his son, “How do ya like’s dat, Z.J.?” Zan asked his baby boy. The only reply they got was the baby’s first smile.
-
Liz was breast feeding little Z.J. and Zan just stared at her. Liz looked up and smiled. Then her smile turned up side down.
“I’m sorry.” She said.
“For wats?”Zan asked.
“For not telling you sooner. For not letting you be apart of my life before Z.J. was born. For everything.”
Zan got off the chair he was sitting in and went and laid next to Liz. “Ya don’t have ta be sorry. I’s understand. I’s Love’s ya, Liz. I’s always will. No matta wat.”
Liz had a tear roll down her cheek. Zan wiped it away. “Don’t cries.” He said. And they laid their together with their son.
