If it came back for a Season 4, I think it would still have to be Max & Liz... And I think WR did a really good job of what Season 4 should be like with Blue Remembered Hills.

Wow,

You're giving me quite a list of fics to read following each reply. Thanks

I read an awful lot of fics before I even began contemplating writing my first one. They've probably shaped my vision of the show just as much as the show it's self has.

Going back to the original question, what would you do differently.

I would change the outcome of Tess's character.

Tess provided so much to the show, and her character really had a lot of potential, but the powers that be didn't quite know how to use that.

I WOULD introduce Tess' character, and even have her be a bit of a stumbling block for Max and Liz. But I would explore the option of her, the re-incarnated Alien Queen of Antar falling for a human. I would make her a gradual part of the group, and eventually, a friend to all of them.

I like Tess, I really do. She was misunderstood, and it's such a shame. There was so much promise there!
I once heard that dust is made up of human skin cells. If that's true, I think there's a naked man under my bed!

I agree with you in that they took a character full of potential and made

her a scape-goat for all their literary mistakes and inconsistancies.

I like the alien queen falling for a human thing. Would that human be Kyle? :)

Yeah I honestly didn't have a problem with Tess being introduced, or even what happened through "Destiny". What I did have a huge problem with and definately would have changed was Liz running away to Florida for the whole summer and then completely avoiding Max in SAB through EOTW. I can understand her running out of the cave... but running away from him so completely after they'd just rescued him from a torture chamber... That's another thing that should have been dealt with better is how Max was coping with everything, from the torture, to his friends abandoning and turning on him, to the responsibilty of being king.

Yeah, considering all that she'd risked for him already, it was a character flip flop of epic proportions. But it *did* set up the conditions for TEOTW. It left them in limbo, building to that either/or cusp that Future Max barged into. Given a choice I erase all of season two and three. Have them stick together as an adhoc family, adopting Tess into their fabric as she follows Max's path in falling for a human.

At the very least I'd strip things back to "Wipeout". That was the real point of no return. The Skins turning lameass, with the lameass multiple time dimensions. Liz telling Max and the others about the future, and them working to forestall it would be the main thrust of the show after that point, with the occasional "crisis of the week" episode thrown in. The major changes are as follows.

Nothing gets between the kids, as couples and friends, ever again.

No dead Alex.

No evil Tess.

The parents finding out could have been great drama, if done in a positive manner.

Valenti keeps his job. What they made him into was just pathetic.

Amy stays around. She was a genuine breath of fresh air whenever she appeared.
