CHAPTER 11















LIZ P.O.V

“Hey, so, I was thinking you guys could come over … you know?” Isabel says as we all sit down talking and eating our lunch.

It’s been a week since our last P.E. prac lesson – one week since the accident with Sean.

Since then I have been receiving death glares by Sean and his ‘gang’.

I don’t get it …

I didn’t do anything to the guy … he is the one that bruised my arms.

Which is still bruised, by the way.

“Sure, it sounds like fun,” Ria says as she sips her iced tea.

“Why not?” I add as I smile at Isabel.

“Cool, so this evening at 5.30?” she says all excited and I smile in amusement.

“This evening?” I say in an English accent.

“Yes,” she laughs and we continue to talk and mess around.

I look over to the staff hall, where I see Malibu Stacy walking out with tears in her eyes.

“I’ll be right back,” I state as I walk in her direction and jog to catch up to her.

“Hey,” I say when I reach her.

“Is everything alright?” I ask in a polite voice.

“What do you want? Are you just here to shove it in my face?” she asks angrily as she continues her journey to the ladies bathroom.

“Listen, I was just trying to help … I can go if you want,” I say as I turn around to leave.

She might act like a bitch towards me, but we were best friends at one time.

And if she’s been hurt, I want to know about it so I can help.

Even if she just needs to talk to someone.

You see, her ‘friends’ kicked her out of the ‘group,’ and now she hasn’t really got anyone to lean on.

“Why do you want to help me?” she asks as she walks in to the bathroom and opens to tap to wash her face.

“Because you always used to help me, before we drifted apart,” I say, and she turns to me and looks at me in the eyes.

“It’s that stupid teacher,” she says and I look at her face where I see the red mark.

“What happened?” I ask shocked and worried.

“Mr Dean,” she raises her hand to her face and rubs the red part. “He hit me,” she whispers and I pull her into an embrace.

“What happened?”

“Why would he do that?” I ask and she huffs.

“I have no idea,” she says as she trembles. “He just…”

“Just what?”

“He wanted to go a-all t-he way,” she stutters out and I look up at her.

“Did he?”

“No” she says as the tears start once again.

“That’s why he hit me,” she says and I nod in understanding.

“He said that if I wouldn’t he would go and find someone else that would,” she cries.

“Hey, Stacy I have to tell someone,” I say as I look in her eyes.

“No!” she yells.

“You have to Stacy, someone else could get hurt… he could do this to someone else.” I feel my own tears start.

“I can’t,” she cries.

“I can’t, or he’ll hurt me,” she adds and realisation hits me.

“Your secrets safe with me,” I say as I send her a small smile that she returns.

“So I guess I gotta be nice to you from now on?” she says in a playful voice.

“I dunno, I kinda like telling you off, Malibu Stacy,” I say and we both chuckle as we leave the bathroom.

CHAPTER 12












LIZ P.O.V

“Hey guys,” Isabel says as she opens the door to let us in.

It’s 5:45 …

“You’re late” she says in an accusing tone.

“You can blame Maria for that,” I state as I walk into the familiar house.

“Why?”

“Someone got her hair stuck in the car door, and then was too afraid to get in again,” I mock as I look at Maria while she has a embarrassed smile.

“So you walked?” Isabel asks and I nod.

“Yeah.”

“Liz, Maria,” I her Diane Evans voice call from the kitchen.

“Hey Mrs. Evans,” I say as I give her a kiss on the cheek. “Have you missed me?” I ask friendly.

“Of course darling,” she says with a bright smile.

Mr. and Mrs. Evans are so friendly…

I swear, they’re like my second family.

We hear the sound of the door slamming and turn to see Max stomping through the kitchen.

“What’s wrong?” Isabel asks concerned.

“It’s over.”

“What is?”

“The engagement, it’s over,” he says sadly.

“What happened?” Diane asks disappointedly.

“Forget about it,” he says as he sends us a sad smile and walks away.

“We should go talk to him,” Diane says.

Isabel shakes her head. “I think we should just leave him alone,” she states.

“Yeah, come on Maria I have to show you something” Isabel tells Maria while signalling for me to go outside.

I nod my head as I walk to the back yard and find Max sitting alone on the step.

“Hey,” I say as I walk outside.

He turns his head and sees me; he sends me a small smile and replies.

“Hi.”

“Do you mind if I sit?” I ask as I walk to the step that he is currently seated on.

“No,” he says as he moves over slightly.

I take a seat next to him. “Are you ok?” I ask as I turn to face him.

“I’m fine,” he states as he continues to stare out at the garden.

“You look pretty upset,” I state and I see a small smile on his face.

“You know, you can talk to me, I’m not just your student…” I see his smile grow bigger as he remembers that he once gave me the same speech.

“You’re not?” he asks playing along.

“No, I’m your friend,” I state with a smirk.

“That’s good to know,” he states as he look at me.

“Have you ever loved someone, not necessarily a boy, but just loved someone whom you also hated so much?” he asks and I look at him.

“You don’t have to answer that” he says as he looks away. “It was a stupid question.”

“I never knew my parents,” I say softly and he looks down at me.

“I live with my aunty and uncle. They own the Crashdown restaurant in town.” He nods in understanding, and I turn away continue.

“They don’t care if I don’t come home at night, I’m just another responsibility,” I state sadly.

“I hate them so much, because they never loved me… but they’re the only family I have so I love them.” I turn to see his sad eyes.

“Do they hurt you?” he asks out of nowhere and I look at him confused.

“I’m asking as a friend, not your teacher… who, by the way, if you confront can do something about it,” he says with a small smile and I chuckle.

“No, they can’t be bothered hitting me… they just act like I’m not there,” I say and he nods again.

“Your turn,” I say as I turn to him.

…If I just told him one of my pains, then he is going to tell me one of his.

“Well, my ‘ex’ fiancée, I hate her soo much, but I just stayed there… with her, ‘cause I thought down in my heart that I wouldn’t find someone better,” he says and I nod and he continues. “She relies on me for everything and I just give her what ever she wants, and all I get in return is getting told that I don’t give her enough anything. We were together 2 years before I asked her to marry me… and after that was when she turned into a bitch…” he says and I smile.

“They always wait,” I say and he turns to me and smiles, too.

“I’m really glad we had this talk,” he says and I nod.

“Me, too.”

“We’d better get inside before they send a search party,” he states as we hear Maria scream my name.

“LIZZZ WHERE ARE YOU?”

“Yeah,” I say as we stand up.

He starts to walk to the house and I follow.

All of a sudden my foot gets caught and I trip over and land flat on my ass.

It’s not funny.

It really hurts..

But you know what the embarrassing part is?

I just made a fool of myself!!!

LIZ P.O.V

“Liz!” Max says as he jogs over to me and looks me over.

“You alright?” he asks in amusement and I send him a death glare

“I’m fine,” I say as he helps me up.

“Oww!” I yelp as I feel my ankle twist in pain.

I go to fall backwards when I feel his strong arms wrap around me.

“I got you,” he says as I try to stand but my ankle won’t allow it.

“Are you sure you’re ok?” he asks as he balances me.

“I’m fine,” I say stubbornly as I pull of his grip and fall again.

…Again hurting my ankle.

“I think you should let me take a look at that,” he says as he looks down at me in amusement.

“I’m in pain here and you’re enjoying it, aren’t you?” I ask with a frown.

“No of course not … ok, yes, I am,” he says and burst out laughing.

“Could you help me?” I ask with a small pout.

He bends down and lifts me into his arms.

“Come on, I’ll take you up to Izzy’s room so we can have a look,” he says as he carries me into the house.

We go up the stairs and into her room which is empty.

He places me down on the bed and moves down to my ankle.

I pull my tights up to give him a view of it.

“Does this hurt?” he asks as he touches the front.

“Owww!”

“I’ll take that as a yes,” he says with a small smile as he continues to study it.

As I rub it in pain.

“How am I supposed to walk?” I ask as I look down at my, now swollen ankle.

“Well, think about the positive side…” he says and I look at him with an evil eye.

“Positive side?”

“Now you have a good reason not to do sport,” he says with a chuckle and I hit him playfully.

“It’s not funny,” I say with a pout.

He moves to sit beside me and smiles.

“Well, it is,” he says as he looks down at me.

LIZ P.O.V

I get lost in his eyes and before I know it we are millimetres apart and our lips nearly touching.

I look into his eyes to see him staring back at me.

As we both lean in for a kiss the door slams open and we spring apart like two rabbits caught in head lights.

“LIZ!” Maria screams as she finds me sitting on the bed with my ankle on a pillow. “There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere,” she adds and I send her a death glare.

If she only knew what she just ended.

“What happened?” Isabel asks as she looks me up and down.

“I fell,” I state.

“You klutz” Isabel says as she sits down next to me.

She looks from me to Max then back again and I see a smile spread across her face.

“I should get going,” Max says as he stands to leave.

“Wait,” Isabel says and he turns to look at her.

“How is Liz supposed to get home?” she asks him.

“Yeah, we walked here and I don’t think Liz is going to be doing any walking,” Maria adds with a giggle and I slap her shoulder.

“Why don’t you stay here tonight?” Max suggests and I turn to look at Maria who is already on the phone with her mum.

“I’m in!” she suddenly calls out and I smile.

“I guess I can stay,” I add and he smiles.

“Problem fixed,” he says as he turns to leave and once again Isabel stops him.

“Wait,” she says and he sighs as he turns around to face her.

“Yes?”

“Tomorrows Saturday, we had planned to go out.... how is Liz supposed to go home and get changed?” she asks and I shake my head as I throw it back against the pillow.

“I’ll drop her off,” says Diane as she walks past the room.

“I’ll see you girls later,” Max says as he smiles and winks at me one last time before walking away.

…I wish they hadn’t interfered.

LIZ P.O.V

I wake up to hear Maria singing loudly in the shower as Isabel blow-dries her hair right in front of me.

“Hey,” she says as she shouts over the noise.

“Morning,” I whisper as I move my ankle slightly.

It doesn’t hurt as much as yesterday …but it hurts enough.

She turns off the hair drier and comes and sits next to me.

“So, yesterday… what happened?” she asks with a bright smile.

“Nothing,” I say as I try to get up.

“Liz, tell me,” she wines and I look at her as I hop across the room.

“Isabel, nothing happened” I say as I sigh disappointedly.

“You’re serious?”

“Yes I am, you and Maria came in just when something was about to ‘happen’,” I say and she hits her forehead while shouting ‘stupid, stupid, stupid’.

“You can say that again,” I say just as Maria steps out of the bathroom.

“Hello, hello,” she says as she hops around, mimicking me.

“Stop it,” I shout and she does.

“So, what are we doing today?” Maria asks as she pulls on her top.

“I thought we could go to the movies if Liz was feeling up to it?” Isabel says with a sweet smile.

She’s not innocent…

“Sure,” I say with a smile…

I know why she wants to go there … there could only be one explanation for that and it would have top goby the name of …

…Alex Whitman.

That’s right guys… Isabel’s not-so-secret’ crush.

“Ohh yeah, isn’t that guy working there?” I ask with a sweet smile.

“What guy?” she asks with a ‘fake’ confused expression.

“You know, what’s his name… ummm,” I say innocently as she looks on stunned.

“Alex,” I say.

“Ohhhh,” she says like she really doesn’t care.

“Yeah he does,” she says as she walks around the room finding a top to wear.

“Maybe he can give us a discount,” I say as I walk up to Isabel and pat her shoulder.

“You know all you have to do is …” I start to say but get cut off as she throws a pillow at me.

“Pillow fight!” Maria screams as she starts throwing pillow.

LIZ P.O.V

It’s period 5 on Wednesday after noon and we are on our way to P.E.

It’s not a prac lesson …thank god.

But apparently we will be starting Sex Ed…

And who better to teach me that then the god himself …Max Evans.

“Good afternoon class” he says as we take a seat.

I’m in the middle of Isabel and Maria who are currently asking me what they should wear to the soap factory ‘party’ tonight.

…. they are begging me to go… but no.

I’m not in the mood to go to a ‘part-ay’.

“Ok, so today we will be learning about the human body” he says, as if he is just expecting a cheer.

“WoooHoooo” …

“Yeahh”…

“Alright”…

I turn to Maria expecting her to shout out something stupid.

But instead she is staring at Michael who is blowing her kisses.

“So we are going to start off with the male…” Max says as he brings the over head into the centre of the room and positions it on to the whiteboard.

I zone out and all I can see is him.

I snap out of it to see him placing a picture over the over head and then the cheering begins again.

“How big is that?”…

“Someone’s getting some”…

“WoooHoooo”…

“Why can’t you look like that”…

I turn to Maria thinking that she was the person who said that last one, but instead I see Maria facing Vicky who is looking at her boyfriend ….or should I say ‘Ex’ boyfriend Kyle.

The class bursts out in giggles and I turn back to find Max staring at me with a dazed look upon his face.

“Ok, so who wants to name the parts?” he asks when he snaps out of his daze.

I smile at him and he blushes.

…why would he blush…???

…Maybe there was something there on Friday ….

Maybe if Maria hadn’t interrupted…

I am cut out of my thoughts when I hear a sultry voice in the back of the class say.

“I’ll name em’ if you show em’” I turn to see none other than Tessa Harding.

LIZ P.O.V

“I’ll name em’ if you show em’” I turn to see none other than Tessa Harding.

“Ok” Max says as he takes a marker and passes it to her as she walks to the board.

She takes extra long taking the marker and makes sure that their hands touch.

… She’s my Uncle Ed’s daughter.

Uncle Ed is the uncle that has been taking care of me ever since the accident, where my parents were killed.

She is the one that get all of there attention, the one that takes my wedge when I work…

I turn back to the front of the class to see her duck down over the over head to give Max a view of her fat, ugly butt.

I see Max turn away and look at me.

Isabel and Maria are currently asking me if I am ok.

I mean, how could I be ok with that b-witch here.

“Liz, are you alright?”…

“Talk to us” …

“I’m fine” I say as I turn back to the board to see Tess writing the word ‘Penis’ and look Max up and down while licking her lips.

… If I could knock that plastic nose off of her face…

“Ok, so if you can copy this down into your excise books so we can referrer to that after” he says as he takes a seat at his desk trying to ignore Tess’s sultry glaze.

Tess turns around and walks back to her seat while throwing me an evil smile.

That snobby bitch…

She always hated me ….always.

I look back to the front of the class to find Max looking at me confused.

I just shake my head and grab my text book writing down what is on the board.

When the bell rings I grab my bag and hurry out of the door avoiding his glaze…

LIZ P.O.V

It’s Friday.

It has been 2 whole days that I have avoided Max, and 2 whole days that I have been a slave for my cousin Tess Harding.

I have to wash her clothes, wash her dishes, clean her room and be her personal butler.

I hate it …

I wish I could move out, far away and never have to see them again.

I can’t wait till I am 18 …

Just 3 more months …. Just 3 more months …. Just 3 more months ….

I walk to my locker to find a note inside it.

I grab the note and read it…

Liz,

Meet me in the staff hall at 12 noon

I close my locker and turn around only to bump into someone.

“Liz hey” Maria says as she looks at me.

“Hey Ria”

“I’m on my way to get Isabel from room 3 wanna come with?” she asks and I smile at her.

She is always so full of life.

“I would, but I gotta go to the staff hall” I say as I start walking in the directing of the staff hall.

“Ohhhh, why?” she asks.

“I dunno” I say just as confused as her.

“I’ll find out soon though” I add as I wave bye to her.

I walk to the hall to find it empty…

I look around, when I hear foot steps and jump when someone appears.

“Liz”…

“Liz”…

“Mr Dean” I say as I look at him suspiciously.

… After what happened with Stacy and Mr Dean, I didn’t tell anyone… like I promised I wouldn’t.

And luckily there hasn’t been anyone else who has been harassed.

“So, you got my note” he says as he begins to walk towards me and I take a step backwards.

“That was you?” I ask.

I feel a chill run down my spine and look up at him, when he finally stops in front of me.

“Yes”

“What did you want?” I ask wanting to distract him.

At the moment he is looking at me like I am his next meal.

“You’ve been a very naughty girl Ms Parker” he says as he reachers out to touch me but I take another step back.

He continues to walk forward, as I continue to walk back.

Until I feel the wall behind me …

…I’m trapped.

“Lizzy Lizzy Lizzy…” he says as he places his hands on both sides of me, so I can’t escape.

“I know what Stacy told you, but it wasn’t true… you’re the only one for me” he says as he leans in to kiss me.

I bend down and crawl out from his grasp but he yanks me back by pulling my hair and chucking me towards the wall.

“There’s no use, sweetheart” he says as he begins to walk forward.

“No one can hear you” he adds as he straightens his tie.

He is in his early 30’s and has sandy, long hair that stops at his collar… he is built and could snap me in half, if he wanted to.., but i get the feeling he has something else in mind ... shiver....

As he walks closer he pins me to the wall.

“This is the way things should be” he whispers while his hand travels up my skirt.

I try to struggle, but it is no use.

Just as I begin to give up the fight, I hear the door slam shut and look up …

“Liz?”…

LIZ P.O.V

“This is the way things should be” he whispers while his hand travels up my skirt.

I hear the door slam shut and look up …

“Liz?” Max says as he looks between me and Mr Dean.

I’m positive that I have tears in my eyes and that I’m breathing heavily.

I push Mr Dean off of me and pick up my jacket that was discarded when I was tossed to the floor.

I pick it up without making any eye contact with Max, and run out off the hall.

I run to the nearest room I can find empty and lay back against the door.

“This didn’t happen…”

“This didn’t happen…”

“This didn’t happen…”

“This didn’t happen…”

“This didn’t happen…”

I keep saying over and over again.

“Liz” I hear Max scream as he bangs on the door.

I shut my eyes as the tears continue to roll down my cheeks.

“Please, just go” I yell back.

Before I can realise what is happening the door flies open and I am pushed off of it, falling forward.

“Liz” he says as he comes to stand in front of me and tries to help me up, only for me to push him away.

He walks over to the door and locks it, before returning to me and once again trying to help me up.

I once again push him away, afraid to be touched.

“Liz, I’m not going to hurt you” he says as he looks down at me.

I look up into his eyes and see the concern shining in them.

“Please, let me help you” he says as he offers to help me up and this time I do not fight him, instead I take his offer.

He sits me down in a near by chair and I shiver from fright.

“What happened?” he asks as he looks at me from his seat.

“I don’t want to talk about it” I whisper.

“I don’t care if you don’t want to talk about it” he says and I look up in his eyes and see just how much he wants….needs to know.

“I need to know” he says and I look around.

“Liz, if you’re seeing a teacher…I won’t tell” he says sadly as he looks down to the floor.

“Your not?” he asks as he looks up…almost hopefully.

“I’m not” I say as I shake my head and wrap my arms around my self as I feel the tears build up in my eyes.

“Liz, if you’re not seeing a teacher …. Then what did I just walk in on?” he asks in concern.

I start crying harder, and that’s when realisation hits him.

“H-he ….he was try-trying to….you” he stammers out.

All I can do is nod…

Not knowing what to say.

He looks up at me and then gets out of his seat and pulls me into his arms.

“It’s ok” he whispers into my ear and I just nod into his neck.

“He won’t touch you now” he says as he pulls me even closer to him.

I feel safe…

I feel loved…

I feel wanted…

I want to stay like this forever…

LIZ P.O.V

“He won’t touch you now” he says as he pulls me even closer to him.

When he pulls away I look into his eyes and I see all his concern shining in them.

No one has ever cared…

Why does he…???

Before I know what I am doing I pull him down to my lips and feel his soft tongue side into my mouth.

We stay like this until he pulls away and looks at me in the eye.

“This is wrong” he says as he looks down at me.

I can see in his eyes that he wants me …

….I want him too….

What could be the problem…???

“You were nearly raped today … I can’t” he says as he looks away in shame.

“Max” I say as I turn his face to look at me.

“This would be taking advantage of you” he says and I shake my head.

“No, I want this… don’t you?” I ask …praying that his answer is a yes.

“Liz, I’m your teacher… even if I did, it would be totally out of the question” he continues to deny.

I cup his face in order for his eyes to reach mine and I ask him.

“But, do you want me?”

“Of course I do” he says and I pull him down again and plunge my tongue into his mouth.

When we pull away again we are both breathing forcefully.

“That doesn’t make it right though” he says through his daze.

“I’m not your student right now” I say and he looks down at me confused.

“I’m your sister’s best friend” I say and he smiles down at me.

“Now that makes a whole lot of difference” he says as he captures my mouth once again.

I feel my mobile start vibrating in my pocket and pull away from Max.

“Sorry” I say as I grab it.

He shakes his head while telling me, “No problem”

I look down at my now smashed phone and sigh.

It must have gotten smashed to the floor when Mr Dean threw me on to it.

I look at the caller I.D. and smile.

“It’s your sister” I say as I look up at him and he chuckles.

“She does have perfect timing” he says and I agree.

“I should probably start going” I say as I stand up and look at him.

“Yeah” he says as he looks around his office.

“I’ll call you” he says and I smile.

“You haven’t got my number” I say as I giggle.

“I’ll get it off Isabel” he says as he sends me a smart ass glance.

“Why would you want to call me?” I ask confused.

“So I can give you my address” he says as he winks at me and I blush.

“And why would I want your address?” I ask, turning the tables around and being the one now acting like a smart ass.

“Coz, I know you want to see me again” he says as he steps closer to me and my breath hitches in my throat.

“Out of school” he adds with a smirk.

“What makes you think that?” I ask as I look up at him, standing only millimetres away from me.

“Your smile” he says as he raises his hand to cup my cheek and caress it, in his smooth hand.

“I’m your student” I say, remembering his ‘I’m your teacher’ speech.

“I’m you best friends brother” he says and I chuckle.

“Now that makes everything alright” I say as I step up on my tip toes and kiss his soft lips.

“Go on now Parker, before you get us both caught” he teases and I smile.

“Bye sir”…
