Forgive me but i didn't respond to the Feedback from last week. The comments were important so please let me respont to both last week and those of this week at the same time.
Michelle in Yonkers No I worried about that wording after I posted it. I finished up the canon fic You Can’t Go Back to Yesterday. I started a new canon called Isabel
Michelle I also questioned Liz taking up with Sean. He had nothing to offer but the fact that he was a rebel. See what I wrote to Natalie36 below. I didn’t like Sean and that is the reason I used his name for the bad guy. Majandra seems to prefer the actor who played Sean to Brenden. There are references as to why but I always thought the actor of Sean played to his own character.
Roswell3053 As far as I could tell as the story developed, Max was still in his training when he was invited to leave in the trunk. He hadn’t made much path in the established vampire community. He couldn’t remember Isabel or anyone outside of his mother and father. Michael would have been an adult while Max was still trying to mature. They in all probability wouldn’t have known each other. Max had met Isabel so he now knew what it felt like to be in the presence of another vampire.
It must be Max who rescues Liz. Michael back up his historical statements about Vampires. That is why Maria had to get across the Max Michael connection with out arousing the jealousy of Michael. Max is prepared to go against the elders.
L-J-L 76 I just hope I can continue to hold your interest.
Roslover39 Max knew that Pam was going to be a handful from the first. He also knew that she would break though any modifications he made in her life. He had stated that he hoped she would be different even after her personality re-emerged, because essentially he was bringing improvements to her life.
I want to remind everyone that sex to Max is just a favor to the women he is with. Unless he finally completely falls in love sex has little meaning to Max. To Max his time with Maria was just a friendly gesture. It is clear that she felt it was much more, at least until she met Michael.
So many stories talk about commitment of males. I usually avoid this because I believe strongly in commitment. Max at this time probably is slightly afraid of commitment. That may be why he avoids to close of a contact with Liz.
The sensuality of a vampire probably does start as a hunger so your analogy of choices of meat is good. The continued supply of this delectable commodity probably contributes greatly to the initiation of romance in him. Of course by this time the woman will be completely in the throws of love.
The saving of Liz was initiated by Maria’s love for her friend. It was Maria who kicked behind and made Max at least try something.
Natalie36 No dumber than the Valadictorian in my class who started dating the school bad boy. Topolisky, in the first season remarked how some truly smart girls have poor choices of boyfriends. I at least like to believe that is the shyness of some nice guys that makes them not seen by so many girls. At least that justifies my life when i was young.
Max/Jason luver Liz is great but she is vulnerable also. Max is inexperienced and also still questioning how he completely feels about Liz. the intelligence of all the characters developed in Roswell is what drew me to the story when I was recuperating from a depression.
New Chapter 10
Earlier that afternoon: Liz’s boss called her into his office. “Liz, you know what I think about that silly title you insist on using. Well, maybe, I have found you somewhere to use it. My wife’s cousin told her about a marvelous man she met. My wife and I both think she is a klutz, but according to her story there is a man who is standing the singles world on its collective ear. Women swear, that a night with him exceeds any other man they have ever been with. There are reports, again, according to the cousin that women will do anything he says to just spend the night with him.”
“Yeah, boss I know. His name is Max. I have been trying to track him for several weeks now. I have a file on him, but no story yet. I have several first hand witnesses who have been recipients of his love, but all they will say is that he is a kind and masterful lover.” Liz stated as she consulted the small notebook she always carried.
The old editor frowned, “Are we talking about the same man? The one our cousin is talking about is pretty rough. Several of the women he has been with have been reported to be seriously ill. This doesn’t make any difference because they still line up for him every night. The name our cousin gave was Sean.”
It was Liz’s time to frown. She really couldn’t see the man who had been so kind to Maria and who Tess spoke of with such fondness as hurting the women he was with. The times Liz had been around Max, he seemed to be a gentleman of the old school. He had admitted that he originally had come from Europe. He also said that his parents had a great deal of credit for how he acted. A man who speaks well of his mother would not be cruel to women, at least the way Liz would see it.
The editor smiled. He had started the young woman off. She was an excellent writer and with this incentive he was sure she would return with a good story. Liz called Maria, but Maria stated that she already had a date with Michael. Liz had appraised how close Michael and Maria were getting. She wouldn’t want to get in Maria’s way. Oh, Well, Liz was a big girl. It wasn’t as if she couldn’t take care of herself. She wanted to attract this Sean, if possible, so she dressed in a strapless black dress. In a way, Liz needed to give her ego a boost. Max had taken home dozens of women. It seemed that he had only to meet a woman, dance a few times and then they went to her home to make glorious love, at least according to the reports of the women later. Max had been around her several times. They had only danced once or twice. When they were dancing, she had noticed that Max held her as if she might break. Watching him with other women, she saw him holding them close to himself. Later she would see him in the shadows showering what ever woman he was with at the time with kisses. Why hadn’t he made a play for her? Liz wasn’t conceited, but she was as good looking as most of the women he was with and better than some. Was there something about her that Max was afraid of?
Liz appeared at one of the larger clubs noted to be a hangout for singles. She danced a few times with a few men. They tried to make a play for her, but she gently refused them. She always told them she was waiting for a friend.
Liz was dancing with a very nice man whose wife was, at the moment also dancing, with a friend. The man was pleasant and he had made it clear from the start that a dance was all he wanted. They even circled the couple who he pointed out. The woman was his wife. It was a pleasant diversion. Liz didn’t have to prepare any excuse to fend off any advances. Maybe, because she was relaxed, she suddenly found herself in the arms of an older man. Liz was one of those women who usually only went with men about her own age. The man was dignified and tall. Well, tall was a relative word because Liz was only about five foot two inches tall. They danced several sets. Then as she was tiring, he suggested they sit down. He introduced himself as Sean. This was the man Liz wanted to interview. Liz asked him about his name. He just smiled, “Just Sean. My last name wouldn’t matter. I have only recently come to these shores and I am still learning the way of this country.”
Liz had taken out her notebook. Her first question: “Sean, what do you think of American women?”
“I find them delicious.” He stated and Liz could almost swear he smacked his lips.
As she was thinking up her questions, Liz was asking herself. What do women see in him? He was handsome in a mature sort of a way. He was definitely not her type. She formulated her next question: “What are you looking for in American women?”
“I am looking for the rarest of flowers in American women. When I find her, I shall take her for my own and she will be mine to her death.” This was kind of a scary statement from Sean.
“Have you found her yet?” Liz was staying on course but Sean bothered her. Why did he keep looking at her so intensely.
“Yes, I might have found her. Now I must convince her to come with me.” Sean was still looking at Liz. When he took both her hands in his, Liz flinched. Sean’s hands were sweaty and damp. Before she could withdraw them, the sweat began to work its magic. Liz sat her notebook down. She just couldn’t keep her mind on what she was doing. This wonderful man was holding her hands and all she could think of was how could she make him happy. Sean was almost 2,000 years old. His secretions were potent indeed. Sean extended his hand and Liz, forgetting all about her notebook, stood and danced with him. Liz was resting her head against his chest. Sean was kissing her forehead with his wet lips. Every kiss sent Liz into ecstasy. This was the man she had been looking for her whole life. She heard him whisper. “Yes, Little One, you are a rare delicacy. Tonight, we will feast at the joy of our union.”
Liz didn’t understand a single thing he said. Somewhere in her mind there was a sane part. She had come to find Sean and she had found him. Now, it appeared she would also experience what so many women were talking about. The part about him hurting several women, never made its way into her conscious mind. For some reason, she thought of Max. Well, he hadn’t even made a play for her favors and she had brazenly offered them several times.
As they danced, Sean bent and he licked her shoulder and neck. It was all he could do to not take her right there. That would not suit his plans. Sean knew all about Max and he wanted to taunt him. Max had been cruising the singles and he was so gentle with the women. This angered Sean. He was only gentle when he wanted to be. Most of the time, he saw women as just a place to feed as he had done for 2,000 years He had little care for them or their health. Now, the morsel he had in his arms was a true treasure. He just couldn’t understand why the other males had left her alone for so long.
Liz was having a battle within herself. The main part of her being was thrilled that she had finally met the man of her life. It even created fantasies of being carried off to exotic lands and treated to exotic sexual experiences. The small part that was still the reporter was vainly trying to fight its way into her conscious thought. His kisses on her neck were the most exhilarating feeling she had known. It took all her will power to not rip her clothes off right on the dance floor and offer herself to him there.
Sean whispered, “Liz, we need to meet your friends. Lets go.”
Liz dutifully picked up her wrap and, leaving her most precious notebook fluttering on the table, they left. Once at the club where Max, Michael and Maria were at, Sean stepped back and Liz almost automatically led the way. Sean could feel joy in himself at the dismay of the two male vampires at the table. The woman sitting with them would make a desert if he had had more time. Sean noted with a smile how the woman arranged to separate Liz from the group. Sean didn’t care. Liz was too far gone now for anyone to stop her. He had to laugh at the pathetic attempt at the two males to save the delectable little AB-Negative.
Liz felt annoyed at Maria for taking her away from Sean. When Maria tried to tell her that Sean was dangerous, Liz looked for a reason why Maria would interfere with the happiness Liz would be anticipating from the ministrations of Sean. Liz knew that Maria was completely sold on Michael so she looked elsewhere. The elsewhere was Max. For some reason, Max wouldn’t take her to his bed. That was his business, but now through Maria, Max was trying to keep her from enjoying the wonderful man, Sean. There was a warning when Maria unwrapped her neck to show her hickey. The juices that Sean had placed on her neck rebelled at anything which might limit her time with him. That story about vampires was the frosting on the cake. All parts of Liz, both conscious and subconscious, rebelled at this fanciful story. It must be just another ploy to prohibit Liz from getting the love and sensations that others had gotten and were getting. The frustration within Liz of her mental battlefield made her angry. She directed this anger first to Maria and, then, to Max. When she flounced out of the club with the statement that she would do what she wanted, it wasn’t Liz talking. It was something else.
Chapter 11
Maria hurried back to her table to see the two men dejected. “What did she do?” she cried.
Michael said, “What did you expect? She went with him. She thinks we are jealous of her and she is showing us that she will do as she wants.”
Maria sat crying with her head in her hands. “What are we going to do? She is my best friend. We just can’t loose her. She looked up. Maybe he will not kill her. You know, like you do. He will just feed and leave her to get well. We can all help her back to health.”
Max and Michael both shook their heads. They both knew vampires like Sean. He was greedy. He, also, didn’t want anyone else to have what he had. He would take everything Liz had and there was nothing they could do about it.
Maria suddenly took one of the wooden chairs and smashed it against the floor. The chair splintered. She quickly picked up two of the rungs which held the legs apart. “We could do like Buffy. We could stake him through the heart.”
Max looked up, “Maria, Buffy is a TV show. How do we know this would work? Vampires don’t go around killing vampires.”
Maria grabbed Max by his lapels. “Look, Mr. Maximillian, or whatever your name is. This may be the only chance we have. Vampires better go to killing vampires if the second vampire is endangering the whole species. Long time ago, they didn’t have any scientific tools. Now, if they start studying women who are anemic and piece their stories together there will be a witchhunt like you never saw. If forensics looks closely at the spittle you guys have, they are going to see things that they never believed existed. Sean has to be stopped. Where did the stupid writers get the idea of stakes in the first place. There has to be some truth to the legend!”
Max took the two pieces of wood. He felt like a fool, but he also knew that he would do anything to stop Sean from killing Liz. Michael and Maria started to get up, also. “No, this must be my job. When the elders hear of this, let it be on my shoulders alone. Michael, pay for the chair and I will see you later. Maria have hope for me. If I do not succeed, I do not want to come back and live either.
Maria had given him directions to Liz’s apartment. He hurried as quickly and as unobtrusively as only a vampire can. Of course, it was a locked apartment, one where you had to call to get the door opened. Fortunately, locks were never a deterrent to such as Max. He waited until there was no one near the door. Max went up and quickly opened the lock. He looked at the paper Maria had given him. Liz was on the fourth floor.
Liz had leaned against Sean as they proceeded to go to her apartment. Every once in a while, he would lean over and kiss her neck. His kisses were wet, but the feeling just after each kiss was heavenly. As they got to her door, Liz took out her keys and unlocked the door. She entered but Sean waited just outside. She looked at him and he answered her look with, “You have to invite me in.” Sean loved to play the fables of the old school.
Liz looked at him and reaching for his arm, she said, “Sean please come in. If I hadn’t wanted you, I wouldn’t have brought you here.”
She took Sean’s hand and led him into her bedroom. The lights were dim and Sean began to kiss and lick her neck. He removed her clothes and laid her out on the bed. The only places he touched were on her neck and shoulders. Liz was feeling a sort of paralysis. Sean was not filling her head with dreams. Why bother? She would soon be dead. He was not making love to her. Again, it was why bother? He wasn’t going to come back to her. He really didn’t care about how she felt. Sean wanted her sedated just enough to not fight as he began to remove all of her delicious blood. Sean intended to do this slowly. Few times in a lifetime, that is a vampire’s lifetime, would he have a chance to feast on AB-Negative.
Liz felt funny. She couldn’t move. Her limbs felt stiff and heavy. Sean had stopped the kissing and licking, but he didn’t appear to be going to make love to her. He had taken off all of her clothes, but he had removed only his jacket and shirt. He had not even given any indication that he was going to remove his pants. He was massaging her right shoulder right near the neck. He was tapping her skin like the nurse does when she is trying to find a vein to take blood. Oh my god! That is exactly what he was going to do. Maria had been right. Sean was a vampire and he was going to take her blood. If Maria was right about the other things, he was going to take all of her blood. Her eyes were wide with fright. Sean looked at her and laughed. Her fright was the adrenalin that kept him going. Adrenalin in her blood would make it even better. He was going to do this slowly. He intended for her to last until morning. Sean jumped up. Liz couldn’t see what had caught his attention. She heard him shouting, but her mind was too befuddled to understand what he was saying.
Max found his way to her room. It also was locked. Max had to take his time with this lock because he didn’t want to alert those inside. Max opened the door. He was in the living room. He ran to the only other door, with the exception of the kitchen, that led off the living room. He threw open the door. Liz was stretched naked on the bed. She was paralyzed, but Max could see that she was only partially paralyzed. Sean was intending for her to see him taking her blood. Sean was leaning over her shoulder fixing to bite down on her neck. Sean stood up and looked at Max.
“Oh, so silly a one! Watching too much TV obviously. Buffy may use the stakes, but they do not really work. That is just another myth about our species. Wait your turn and I might let you have a taste of this delectable one. She is small, but the blood she has will be a memory to last forever.” Sean was so sure of himself.
Max leapt. He plunged the stake into the chest. Once he had done this he reached behind his belt and got the second stake. He also pushed it into the creatures chest. Sean was in the middle of a laugh when a surprised look appeared on his face and he melted to a large pile of dust. Yes, the stakes were just a TV prop and things gleaned from legend, but the toxins from the varnish on the chair rungs and the biologicals that had collected from 20 years of having shoes dragging over them were not legend. They did Sean in immediately. Even with his ability to dissolve most pathogens what ever was found on the dance floor of the club was just too much for him. The filth that humans walk through every day was more than any diseases of amour that a vampire of his age could handle. Maybe it was some combination of that and the cheap varnish used on the chair.
Now, Liz could see Max. He took a robe and covered her nakedness. Slowly the paralysis began to fade. Soon, she could move her limbs. Max turned around and she put on the robe. Liz was sitting on her bed trying to get her thoughts together.
Max handed her, her cell phone. “Call Maria and Michael. They will be worried,” he said.
After the call, she looked at Max. “Then everything Maria said was true, wasn’t it?”
“Yes, I am sure whatever she told you was true.” Max replied.
“You and Michael are vampires and Sean was going to kill me?” she inquired.
“Yes, I am afraid so. Maria and Michael have developed a lasting relationship, which may last hundreds of years. Sean was a very greedy man. He wanted you and he wanted no one else to ever have you.” Max returned.
What about you, Max? Now that Sean is gone, what are you going to do?” Liz was looking at him with a little fear in her eyes.
“I am going to do nothing. I will have to go before the elders of the vampires. I hope you will not write anything about what has happened. I do not know what the elders will do to me. I have one advocate and she is very powerful,” Max stated. He seemed to be missing her meaning.
Liz frowned, “There is no evidence, and I am not sure anyone would believe me. Your advocate, is she like a former lover or something?”
Max chuckeled, “More like a sister, but she is very smart and powerful.”
What about me? Liz asked, this time making her inquiry more direct, “What are you going to do about me?”
“What do you mean, Liz? What do you want me to do about you?” Max inquired.
“Well, you just fought over me. Am I not the spoils or something of a battle. Are you not tempted to feed on me or in some way use me?” Liz questioned with a fearful smile.
“Liz, this isn’t a joke. It is serious. I just killed one of my species. I have to face the elders who rule those like me. Liz, you are free to go with one exception. I am going to have to assume responsibility for you when vampires are concerned. That is going to be my only defense when they question me.” Max was fixing to leave.
Maria and Michael arrived. They came in just as Max left. “Tell me every thing I need to know about vampires, Michael.” Liz ordered.
“You should stay away from them. Your blood is too tempting.” Michael said.
Max said he was going to assume responsibility for me in things that concern vampires. What does that mean?” Liz inquired.
It means he is giving up a lot of things for you. If he assumes responsibility for you, that means Sean was stealing from him and killing Sean will not look so bad. Taking responsibility for you means Max can’t move in with some other woman. He can still have one night stands, but he can never seek what Maria and I have.” Michael informed her.”
Liz frowned. It seemed that Max was, indeed, giving up a lot just to save her. “What are they going to do to him?” Liz asked.
“Well, Isabel is pretty smart and she will be helping him.” Maria stated.
Michael glared at her. Maria put her hand to her mouth. She had the same as said that Isabel was a vampire, also. “Look, Babe, don’t write any of this. Max has risked his life for you. He is giving up a lot of things for you, as long as you live. My happiness depends on nothing happening to Michael. There are a lot of people who are nice people who do not deserve to be hurt. Please promise me that you will not write about any of this!” Maria was pleading.
Max went before the board of elders. The withered old men could not resist the flirty eyes of Isabel. It was declared that Max would be responsible for Liz. He was to care for her from now until she died. Several of the elders frowned at Isabel when she witnessed that Max had declared his intensions to Liz several weeks before. It was not necessary for the woman in question to give testimony, so they finally decided that Max was dangerously close to censure, but they would let him go with a warning. It would be clear, from now on, that no vampire was to touch Liz and Max would be responsible for her health.

The Castaways is a story about four people coming together in a ship wreck which changes all their lives. They avert tragedy and build a bond among themselves.
Isabel takes place in the middle of the third season. I wrote it to better study my view of Isabel. I also wanted to put an unlikely surprise later in the story.
