“I love you.”
Alec jerked awake suddenly, his dream slowly fading until only those three words remained. With shaking hands he rubbed his tired face.
“You alright?” Logan asked from the passenger seat.
“Yeah.” Alec paused shaking his head, “I’m always alright.” As he closed his eyes Logan and Max exchanged looks, both knew Alec wasn’t alright.
Casting another glance at the now sleeping Alec, Logan focused on the soothing sounds of the piano…
* Alec’s dream *
He walked through the darkened hall looking for something. Someone. The melodic sound of a piano filled the air. As he nears a door the sound is deafening. He enters the room.
“Don’t you like me?” he hears someone ask. “I like you a lot.” he hears himself answer.
“Who’s there? Show yourself!” he demands.
“I love you.” he hears again, spinning around he makes out a shape in the mist surrounding him.
“Are you alright?” he hears the feminine voice ask, he knows that voice. “I’m just happy.” he again hears himself respond.
“I love you Simon…” the words echo all around him. A girl appears slowly. She reaches for him. “I love you…”
Stepping closer, Alec recognizes her. The memories fighting to surface. “Rachel…” he whispers reaching for her. For every step he takes towards her, she moves further away.
“ No, Rachel, RACHEL!” he yells as she disappears.
*End dream*
“RACHEL!” Alec screams as he wakes up. Frantically he looks around for her, before remembering where he is. Slowly his heart calms down as reality takes hold.
“Still want to say you’re alright?” Logan asks skeptically.
“Yes.” Alec growls turning to stare out the window. “Do you have anything besides classical?” he asks barely suppressing a shudder.
“No. Not a fan?” Max asks glancing at Logan and shrugging.
“Something like that.” Alec mumbles still staring out the window. “Something like that.” He repeats to himself. “The darkness with out, compares not to the darkness within.” He heard that somewhere…
Leaving Alec to his musings Logan turns to Max, So Roswell? I didn’t know you had any siblings there.”
“Yeah. Lili, Ky, and Wits. They settled there at different times. They always hated the cold. Ever been there?” Max asks glad for a break in tension.
“No, but I can’t deny I’ve been curious,” Logan answered stealing a glance at Max out of the corner of his eye. “So do you believe in aliens?” he asked seriously as his eyes twinkled.
Turning to face Logan briefly, Max tried to hide the amused twitch of her lips, Not really. Though if Manticore can cook us up, why shouldn’t green men exist?” she smiled finally. The first real smile Logan had seen in a long time.
Reaching across the divide he grasped her gloved hand within his own. Startled Max went to pull away, but remembered as long as they wore gloves, they could “touch”.
“Hey,” Logan spoke softly, “Don’t worry. We can beat this. Have faith.” He gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
“I do. I have faith in you.” Max told him, focusing on the road, mushy wasn’t her.

Ansleyrocks- Thank you! It starts happening soon.
XoXoDreamerXoXo- Thanks! Your welcome.
creative nickname- see not nearly as long. I was hoping the character interactions would work out. As for Max and Logan that has been previously addressed part 4 second to last paragraph.
lovalien- another part!
Jen C- Thanks and here's more.

The lunch rush was winding down and Maria couldn’t be more grateful. Liz was off until later so she was alone with the slow as molasses Agnes and Karen had called in sick. “You’re one lucky-ducky chica.” She sighed returning to the pick-up window to face her highly distracted boyfriend. ~ At least, ~ she thought gratefully, ~ he hasn’t blown anything up. ~
“Where’s my order Spaceboy?” Maria called through the pick-up window.
“Here.” Michael grunted shoving a Will Smith burger with Spaces Fries at her. “Isn’t Liz working?” he asked, he needed to try to convince her to tell the others about what they discussed.
“Not till later.” She turned to go but paused to check her order. “Michael!” she sighed exasperated, “they ordered orbit rings.” Narrowing her eyes in thought, Maria fixed her ‘I know you’re hiding something, SPILL!’ glare on her boyfriend. Only satisfied when he refused to meet her eyes. “That’s the 3rd order today Michael, what’s going on?”
“Nothin’. Here.” Michael growled gesturing for her to take the corrected order. How was he supposed to keep the X-5 secret from Maria, if he knew he was keeping something from her, again, his goose was cooked! “Gotta stop picking up what Valenti says.” He muttered to himself.
“R i g h t.” she drew out, not believing him for a second. Flouncing off to deliver her orders, her mind turned over the possibilities of what was causing Michael’s distraction. Spotting Alex and Isabel in her section she headed towards them and froze at the small innocent PDA they were openly displaying. “Ah-uh?” Shaking her head she continued towards them, maybe they had an idea on how to could help loosen Spaceboy’s tongue.
“Hey guys? What’s new…” she trailed off as the sun reflected off the matching bands Alex and Isabel were sporting. “Oh My God, OhMyGod, ohmygod! Alex Whitman you did not get married without telling me!” she screeched catching everyone in the cafés attention.
A small explosion from the kitchen came after Maria’s shriek, followed by a gruff unmistakable, “Damnit!”
“No we didn’t get married,” Isabel clarified shooting a concerned look towards the kitchen. Was that an explosion? Maria didn’t seem overly concerned, but still that was an explosion.
“Maybe you should check on Michael?” Alex suggested lightly, something was obviously up in Maria-Land and he didn’t need to risk the wrath of Hurricane DeLuca. No siree, he’d have his hands full later when he talked to Bel. He didn’t need a Maria shaped hole through his chest on top of everything else.
“He’s fine.” Maria dismissed, “Let’s hear about those rings!” she slid into the booth, propped her chin on her hand, and waited. Inspector DeLuca had time, she was on break and there appeared to be a lull in the café.
Isabel and Alex exchanged glances, Michael blew something up and Maria just sat there as if it were an everyday occurrence. If she was sure everything was okay who were they to argue.
“Everything’s fine. Small…mishap with a few cans.” Michael bellowed from the kitchen. Seeing Maria sitting with Alex and Isabel chatting he growled, “Thanks for the concern.” Then went back to the grill with a pout. ~ Some girlfriend, what if I was hurt? ~ Michael thought as he sulked.
“See he’s fine.” Maria smirked, ~ if he would just spill what he knew…then I could help him nurse his ego. ~ With her determination she’d find out sooner or later, hopefully sooner than later for his sake. “If he’d just tell me what’s bugging him things could get back on track!” she complained.
“What? Like you two locked in the storage room making out your whole shift?” Isabel asked innocently, causing Maria to sputter an incoherent defense.
“Good one Bel!” Alex cheered kissing Isabel’s forehead, she rarely allowed the playful side of herself out and he was proud she was doing so now.
“Anyways!” Maria said once she had composed herself, “Spill girlfriends!”
“Is Liz around?” Alex asked stalling. He’d actually already called his sister, but it seemed as good an excuse as any to put off telling his wonderful, loving, blabbermouth bestfriend.
“Nope she’s off till later. Come on spill it we’ll fill her in later.” Maria cajoled.
Seeming to silently communicate, Alex and Isabel exchanged warm, loving glances before Alex turns to face Maria, “They’re promise rings. We’re together.” He didn’t want to get into a long discussion on this, the relationship between he and Isabel is private and will remain that way. It will not be discussed in the Crash Down and made into fodder for gossip.
Understanding the unspoken words, Maria begins examining the rings. After all Alex could always be persuaded to spill details in private over Ben & Jerry’s with Liz, or maybe the newly thawed ice-princess Isabel could join ‘girl’s night’ she thought devilishly. Resuming her examination her jaw drops. “You the stud! How did you afford these puppies Whitman?”
“I didn’t,” Alex smirked, “Isabel gave me the promise ring, they’re a set.” He tugged his girlfriend closer as she blushed, “Now that I have a ring on my finger am I supposed to put out?” he staged whispered to Maria.

stargrl678- Glad you like it! And thanks for the bump!Their reunion was bittersweet. The virus injected into her blood had nearly killed Logan. Luckily Alec ended up coming through and helped get the antidote, as well as the cure for her. Sighing quietly she hopes things will work out for her and Logan. The virus would be out of her system soon and she only had 2 more injections to give herself.
lovalien- another part!

PhoenixFlamez-I'm happy to amuse you. I'm glad you found that line as funny as I hoped it would be.
mlover25- I hoped that line would get people!
Trude- Thanks. Yes Maria sure did steal herself some screen time! I have no use for her after s2 so I'm returning her to the Maria that was saucy and loyal, not self-centered and egocentric!
lovalien- Another last line lover?
I'm thrilled!!! Yep, Max finds out soon.
creative nickname- Thanks!
And I'm nice. The shots will work. The actual show dealing with the virus was angsty enough for me!
Strawbehrry Shortcake- I love to read your fb! It's so...bright, cheerful, and uplifting! So AFS got you to read this? YAY! I'm a huge Liz fan so everyone knows her sacrifice and is appropriately grateful! The truth comes out soon and you have to be reading my mind because...nah, I'll let you see. You are too sweet!
This is kind of short, if I kept going it wouldn't have ended where I wanted. So that means the next part will be out quicker.

Isis stood outside the Crash Down watching Lili, no Liz’s friends. Wit was in there with his model looking girlfriend, as well as the girl she recognized as Maria from a pic Lili sent her. She even spotted the guy from the previous night flipping burgers and ringing one of those annoying bells. No way was she going in there now.
With a sigh she turned to begin her search. She knew Liz wasn’t working, or at home, she already broke in to check. ‘Breaking and entering?’ she thought reflecting on the words, ‘Skills of a misspent youth,’ she snorted, but the skills had uses. A voice startled her and she inwardly cursed at her surprise.
“I thought that was you.”
Turning abruptly she came face-to-face with Ky. “Hey Ky-le.” She caught herself from calling out his ‘true’ name. She smirked at the youngest of all of Liz’s siblings. He was one of the few she’d met, the others: Wit, who she saw inside, Max, and Zack. Zack of course was pissed when he realized she knew about them, he didn’t realize he was just SOL in trying to intimidate her, or order Liz not to be her friend. ‘Damn that hard ass was sexy though.’ She thought distractedly.
With a smirk Kyle grabbed her in a hug, not caring if anyone saw him hugging a complete stranger. “Liz know you’re here?”
“Not yet. I’m looking for actually. Got my ass up early and everything,” she joked, “Where the devil is that sneaky bitch anyway? You know?”
“Nup. But I see-” Kyle began, but was cut off.
“I know. I saw him already, but with his girlfriend there plus the nosy motor mouth, I decided to stay outta there!” Isis laughed, not mentioning she also recognized the cook. ‘No need to bring that up,’ she smirked at the thought. “Gotta bounce hot stuff.”
“So quick to leave my charming presence?” Kyle turned his baby blues to full power.
She rolled her eyes, “Yes. You’re just too much for me.”
“I know.” He grinned cheekily before turning on the puppy eyes, “I’m hurt.”
“You’ll live.” Isis laughed. She shook her head as he flashed her a grin and then entered the diner. ‘Now where could Liz have run off too?’ she wondered walking away.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Across town Liz entered Spacey’s Storage. She walked purposefully towards the three storage’s shared between she and her brothers. Unlocking the middle storage, her gaze is immediately drawn to her baby. Her silver and black Ninja 1200.
“Hello sweetheart,” she cooed gently stroking her bike. From the moment Zack presented her with it she realized her big sister was right. It wasn’t just a bike, it was an extension of her soul. ‘Maxie sure could be philosophical.’ She thought ans smirked at the image of her kick ass sis meditating with Ky.
Recalling the feeling from the day before, Liz opened a trunk and checked inventory. A vast array of weapons peered back at her. While she and her brothers had kept up with their training, both hand-to-hand and weapons, Liz couldn’t shake the ominous feelings she had.
“Hmm, better pick up some more ammo.” She thought out loud and began to pack up a few easy to conceal automatics. While she kept her SIG Sauer 9mm on her at all times as well as her bowie knife, as well as a small arsenal locked up at home, her true arsenal lay within the storage.
With a sigh Liz stood and stretched. After her brief conversation with her brothers, they had unanimously decided to come clean with their friends, starting with their significant others. Well hers and Wit’s anyway, Ky wanted to wait and tell Tess when they told Maria.
She snorted as she remembered Maria’s run through the streets when she found out about the Pod Squad. “How will she react to finding out she’s surrounded by genetic freaks that were cooked up in a government lab to become perfect soldiers?” she asked the arsenal dryly. Picking up the encased weapons, she loaded the carrying cases into the car and gave a last longing look at her baby.
“Soon.” Liz promised, she would be back for it.
Driving away Liz didn’t see the questioning look on Tess’ face.
“What was Liz doing out here?” Tess murmured to herself. The cases she was carrying looked so familiar, she just couldn’t place them. Puzzled Tess started her SUV and drove away, days later she would remember the cases, and the significance of what was in them.

PhoenixFlamez- *hugs* Don't worry Tess won't be that much trouble...I think.
lovalien- Interesting to say the least!
Strawbehrry Shortcake- Don't worry if Tess causes trouble she'll just get taken care of X-5 style! Again Maria will be interesting to write and hopefully read! Sorry for the long absence I hope this is to your liking.
force- Thanks! And don't worry about Tess...too much.
alexceasar- Glad top see a new reader! Credit to that line goes to the writer from DA, I just borrowed/paraphrased.
angeleyes- Thanks, I'll try!
Asabetha- No sad faces! Sorry it's been so long, I hope you like this part! Sorry it's short. And thank you!
Zevrillion- YAY! Another new reader! Thank you for taking the time to read my little story.
So here's the new part...

XII

Liz paced across her balcony her phone attached to her ear as she listened to her brother babble. “You gonna do it now?” she asked slumping onto her lounge chair.
“Yup.” Alex breathed out slowly. “She’s talking to her mom right now. He’s not here by the way…are you gonna tell him?”
“I,” Liz paused as she ran a hand through her hair, “Yes,” she whispered, “I have to Wit. I can’t lie anymore. Ky say anything?”
“Uh…Ky has meditated on the situation and is now at peace. He is also hoping this will help to clear his karma. “
“Ri-ght…” Liz muttered rolling her eyes, “Last I talked to him he was rambling about his shakra’s being in balance, something about lamp trimming, and coconut with lime. I tuned him out once I realized he was more than likely implying freakiness with Tess.”
Alex chuckled at the horror in Liz’s tone, “Your brother is crazy!”
“My brother? No way, he’s your brother!” Liz retorted jokingly.
“Whatever!” Alex bantered back. He paused as he registered the end of Isabel’s conversation. “Gotta go sis. She just wrapped up with her mom.” He whispered his nervousness apparent to Liz.
“Alright. Good luck big brother.” Liz whispered back. She was nervous about telling the group about their not so normal status. Alien/Human hybrids were one thing but genetically enhanced killing machines was definitely another.
How, she asked herself silently, do you tell the one you love you’re a transgenic? That you have animal DNA mixed in your cocktail? How do you tell your bestfriend you aren’t the normal, timid, science geek she always had you pegged for?
Shaking off the questions she gathered the small arsenal she’d brought from her storage. Liz knelt inside her closet, clearing away the shoes she traced a square on the closet’s back wall. As a pale blue light emanated from her hand the section of the wall popped free.
“Powers sure can be handy,” she smirked as she carefully arranged her weapons and equipment inside the pre-made hole in the wall. Satisfied with the arrangement she replaced the section and sealed it up, confident only she would know where it was and that no one could find it without her help.
