She was close. I could sense her and she had something out of place.
"What?" asked Liz, couldnt she sense her own sister now? What was that about? Was she becoming human?
"Maria's coming"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. I can sense her and she has brought something with her from her charge"
"I can sense her Isabel, why can't I sense her?"
"You're marrying a human, sister. You're only half an angel like me but if you marry him you will become totally human" she paused for a moment looking down at the floor then she stood up and walked away. Would she really give up her wings for this human? This isnt something she should be doing. I looked over at Serena and stood up
"I'm going out for a bit. Our other sister is coming and you might want to have a bath ready" I suggested then put on my coat and left the house.
I was going to make this Max fellow want to marry this Teresa girl, if he marries her he's still safe and Liz wont loose her wings and we can go back to Heaven where we belong.
"ISABEL!" I turned round and saw Liz standing there her hands gripping the railings.
"Dont betray me" she whispered "Please dont betray me"
"It's for your own good Elizabeth" I told her and turned my back on her and walked off down the street.

We were sitting round the table having tea, Isabel wasnt doing anything except moving her food around her plate. She looked troubled
"What?" I asked her and she looked up at me rather suprised
"Maria's coming" she said simply and I looked at her. I couldnt sense Maria. How could she?
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. I can sense her and she has brought something with her from her charge" she said looking off into space
"I can't sense her Isabel, why can't I sense her?" I wanted to know why she could and I couldnt.
"You're marrying a human, sister. You're only half an angel like me but if you marry him you will become totally human" I looked down. Could I really forsake my roots and marry a human who shared my love? Would I forsake all I knew? I stood up and rushed into the living room with tears in my eyes. Why did this have to happen? I know without a doubt what I would do but that's what scares me. The fact that I can choose so easily.
I heard the door shut and I felt the air colden and I heard the word betrayal whispered. I jumped up suddenly and ran to the door.
Isabel was half way along the street now. I was pretty sure she knew I was there.
"ISABEL!" I shouted and she turned round and looked at me. I've never seen her look so sad before.
"Dont betray me" I mouthed "Please dont betray me"
"Its for your own good Elizabeth" she replied just as quiet and turned and walked away from me down the street. Maybe this was why the choice had been so easy?

I walked along the street thinking about this. I saw the address and climbed the steps. I was dead set on doing this, I wasnt going to loose my sister over this.
I knocked at the door and she answered it. I quelled the uneasy feeling I got just by looking at her.
"Hello Teresa" I smiled trying to make an effort.

"Liz stop crying, I mean she would do anything to make you this upset"
"You dont understand Serena, I'm an Angel! Before our first mission we were about to get our Angel Names, it's a very important ID. Mine didnt come but theirs did, I'm not a full angel and I'm becoming more and more human. Marrying Max will turn me into a mortal"
"Dont you want that?"
"I dont want to leave my sister but I dont want to not marry Max" there was a knock at the door and she jumped up to get it.
"Hello I'm Liz's sister" I heard muffled and the next thing I knew Maria was running in and hugging me.
"I missed you Chica"
"I missed you too Maz" I said with a smile. There was a boy with her and he stunk to high heaven!
"God Maria how can you fall for the smelliest guy in the village and why's he here?"
"He time jumped with me. He saved my life and has a little thing for me"
"It's not little" said the boy we just looked confused and Serena snorted.
"His name is Michael, Michael this is my sister Liz, Liz Michael" she introduced us and I shook his hand.
I heard the front door open and close and in walked Max in his uniform.
"Hey Aunt Serena" he said. I stood up and went over to him "Hi Liz" he blushed and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back just as hard.
"So are you ready?" he asked with a deep breath "The registry office shuts at six and we have two hours to get there" my eyes went wide and I raced up the stairs and got into my made dress. I came back down and he smiled when he saw me.
"You're having the wedding now? What about Isabel?"
"Who?" asked Max
"She's not coming" I said roughly and Maria looked surprised
"Why? What happened?"
"She's betrayed me. I no longer hold her trust, she's Judas!"
"Oh my black! Dear lord!" gasped Maria "Our own sister? How could she do such a thing?"
"I dont know but I dont want her at my wedding!"
"Are you sure you want to go through with this? You'll be completely mortal from now on"
"I know. It's what I want" I told her and she nodded. I held out my arms and she took my watch from my wrist and then kissed my forehead.
"I'll miss you. You have to seperate all ties to Heaven, including papa Isabel and me. Good bye Elizabeth" she put her hand on my head and then there was a flash and then she was gone.

"Will you hurry up! Come on before it's too late!" I hissed at Teresa as we hurried along the street towards the registry office. I could sense Angels near and I knew that I still had time. Maria must be there too.
We went straight in past the clerk up to the office were their marriage was being held.
I pushed open the doors and I saw Maria and Papa shimmering faintly and there wasnt anything coming from Liz. She was mortal, I was too late. I was not going to loose my sister!
"No!" I growled through clenched teeth
"Can we help you?" asked Liz, she didnt remember me. I saw Maria and Papa watching me and I grew furious. How could they just let her fall like this? I grabbed a candlebra and raised it over my head and whacked Liz with it. She still had a clean soul so if she was killed then she would go back to Heaven where she belonged.
That Max jumped in front of her as I was swinging the next blow. He fell and hit the pew as he went down. Liz reached out briefly for his hand and their fingers wound together. I raised my weapon above my head and brought it down. The second it touched her forehead white light blasted out and knocked me down. I had just saved Liz!
Suddenly the entire room was enveloped in white light and God appeared above them.
"Isabel you have killed two pure souls that were meant to be bound for eternity. They shall return to Heaven with Maria and their father but as your punishment you are to remain on Earth for all of time and when the world ends you shall sit outside the gates of Heaven. It will be as I say" he vowed and I felt my angelic energy float away from me.
The room plunged into blinding darkness and I was all alone. I looked around and I saw I wasnt in the registry office anymore. I stood up and looked round.
"Isabel!" I turned and saw Alex standing there. For a moment I remembered the wedding but then it was gone as quickly as it came. I hugged him and we walked off into the crowd.

Epilogue

"Doesnt she looked beautiful?" I asked Michael and he nodded. I carried my daughter out onto the beach and stood staring out into the sunset.
He came right up next to me and put his arm around me.
"So how are my girls?" asked my husband
"Max when did you get back?"
"Just now. What did you call her?"
"Isabel Serena"
"Those are two beautiful names"
"I know"
"Do you miss her?"
"I dont think I couldnt!" I said honestly. Michael had moved away the second Max was by my side and now he was playing with his little son toddling along the beach. He made a brilliant dad.
I turned back to the sunlight and heard a word whispered out to me.

Honey Bear

That was it! That was my Angel ID! I had finally got it!
"Max I think I just got my Angel ID!"
"You did? What is it?"
"Honey Bear"
"Liz,"
"Yes?"
"I just got mine too. Just then, mine ID is Dreamer" I smiled and kissed him briefly. Isabel began gurgling
"Dreamer Bear" she rasped and I looked at Max
"Max did you just...?"
"Yes how it is..."
"I dont know... but it's a mixture of ours... that's never happened before"
"I think it means we're a soul bound family now. I love you Liz"
"I love you too Max" he hugged me and we turned and walked back home.
