Part 11
Justin's POV
I'd like to say that Alex and Isabel explained everything that Saturday, but that wasn't the case. They were still on their little high on seeing each other, and for the most part I didn't mind because like I said earlier, two years! But that didn't mean that I didn't get some information out of Isabel while Alex went out to grab some food for them.
"Alex said that you're from Chicago." I nodded, and she continued tentatively, "I suppose you have some questions for me." Again, I showed her that I agreed with her statement. "So, how come you're not hounding me with questions?" She asked with a slight smile.
I shrugged, "Well, in the end it's not really my business, but I won't deny that I'm extremely curious and do want to as you stated, 'hound you with questions.'"
"I can't answer all of them, but I can answer some of them." Isabel told me truthfully.
"How long have you been in Boston?"
"About a month."
I frowned at that answer, "So you don't own the club?"
She shook her head, "No, friends of ours do; they've been in the area for about a year before deciding to invest in The Whirlwind. They knew about Alex's band and also knew how important Alex is to me. They thought it would be a nice gift for me if Alex opened for the club."
"Gift?" I asked puzzled by her choice of words.
She grimaced slightly, "Sorry, just repeating what they told me."
"How does Cal Langely fit in all of this?"
Isabel bit her lip before answering, "Well, Cal is more like a mentor to us, kind of…protective over all of us."
"I see." I answered, not really getting any of it. However, before I could ask her anything else, Alex returned with food, so I left them again to enjoy each other's company. Before I left to fend for myself, Isabel invited me over to the hotel where the others were staying the next day. She claimed that I would understand everything afterwards, but I wasn't so sure.
Oh, I guess you're wondering how much money I made from Friday. Well, there was $50 from Karen, $120 from the guys on the little bet over Maria, $100 concerning Tess and Kyle, and finally, a whopping $500 from my last wager. Total came out to $770. Yeah, I was in a good mood by Sunday. Around 2 in the afternoon I made my way to the address of the hotel Isabel told me she was staying at. Do you know where she was staying? The Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston, do you have any idea how expensive this place is? No, well, let me tell you! It's about $150 to $1000 a night depending on when you're staying and what type of room you're getting. I remember looking around at this place wondering how the four of them could afford something like it.
It turned out that the four of them were in one of the hotel's suites, which really didn't faze me at that point. So I went up and saw that not only were Max, Michael, and Tess there, but their counterparts were with them as well. Since I had gotten my money from the guys and saw that the gang was there, I decided to give out their shares before getting down the nitty gritty.
As I handed out Liz's portion, she just laughed at shook her head at me, "Seeing Karen's face was well worth it. Keep the rest, consider it payment for being my emergency date, 'k?"
I nodded and went over to Maria and Michael, "So how much did you make off us?" He asked me before Maria smacked him on the upside of his head. He gave her a surprised look, "What? I was curious, besides you want to know too, don't you?"
It was obvious that his reasoning didn’t amuse her, because she just smacked him again, and then she smacked me, "I can't believe that you would make bets on your friends' love life." She told me. Then she titled her head a bit, "So, how much did you make off us?" Did I not call it earlier?
I was going to give her the sixty dollars, when Michael just swiped it from my hands, "Thanks, it'll help pay for my new bike."
"MICHAEL!" Maria yelled at him.
"What?" He asked clearly confused by her outburst.
"Give it back."
"Maria-"
"It's not like you really need it, Space Boy." She reminded him, before he grinned at handed it back to me. "Sorry, old habit."
I returned his grin and was going to hand over Kyle his $50 dollars, which he accepted graciously, while Tess looked at him shocked, "I can't believe, you're going to take his money, Kyle."
He shrugged, "I can't depend on you forever, Tess, besides, the $50 dollars should come in handy for our road trip."
"You're not going to gamble that are you?" She asked.
"Hey, if Maria didn't stop me, who knows how much I would have been up by."
Tess nodded at his assessment, "By the way, what happened to that money anyway?"
"Dad made me give away to charity. Sorry Michael, I know you didn't want it to go to a good cause." Okay, that statement seriously confused me. I guess it was written on my face because Kyle expanded on his statement, "Michael felt that the money was tainted, and wanted us to spend it, no hoarding it, no moralizing or spending on the homeless."
"I take it you guys are planning on going to Vegas this week, huh?" I responded.
"Oh, yeah, wanna come?" Kyle asked.
"Umm-" I was unsure because I kind of felt like I would be intruding on their time, but also remembered that it was Spring Break and I didn't have anything better to do.
"Yeah, come with us!" Maria stated, "It'll be fun, besides I think Isabel and Tess want to introduce you to their friend Serena. She's coming with us, but so far she's the odd person out."
"Besides, if Alex's parents try to call the dorm, you won't be force to lie about where their son is." Michael pointed out. It was a good point; I'm not very good at concealing the truth.
"Okay, but on one condition." I said.
"What is it?" Max asked.
"I want to know where the four of you have been the past couple of years and why you haven't let any one know how you were." I told them truthfully.
The four of them looked at each other for a split second before Max nodded, "Seems fair since Alex, Liz, and Maria swear that you're trustworthy and want you to know. So what's your opinion about what happened to us?"
I shrugged, "Well, I figured that you guys must be in Witness Protection or something like that because Alex, Liz, Maria, and Kyle just seemed to accept your absence with out questioning where you guys were. I mean they worried about you, and I'm sure they missed you like crazy, but they never seemed angry that you never made overt efforts to contact them."
Max nodded at my assessment. "Witness Protection, that's a new one." Michael quipped while Tess and Isabel threw him dirty looks. "Liz told me that you said we could be aliens from outer space for all you cared, you just wanted to help them out."
"Well, I was kind of joking about the aliens from outer space part; I mean you guys are from Roswell. It kind of just popped in my head." I kind of laughed at this point, "Is that what you're going to tell me that the four of you were alien refugees from outer space and then you had to go back home?"
"Well…" Tess started. I stopped laughing and stared at them.
"I was joking about it." I told them.
"We're not." Max said kindly as if trying to soften the blow of his news.
I froze for a moment while trying to process this new information; the problem being it wouldn't process. "No, that's not possible." I responded slowly. I began to babble about how the human body was one of the most complex organic machines and that it wasn't possible to clone people just yet, because we didn't have the technology or the knowledge just yet.
Isabel sighed at me and rolled her eyes, while Alex held back his laughter, I guess I stumbled on to some private joke, when she just went over to the couch that Liz and Maria were sitting on and proceeded to change it from a light gray to a deep brown. I think my eyes bulged out of their sockets and once again Alex started to laugh at me, just what was so funny? I stood there for another moment, before speaking, "So the shooting actually happened?"
"Yes," was all Max said.
"You're not here to take over the Earth are you?"
"No," he responded while Michael stated at the same time, "It's a tempting thought though."
I grinned at Michael's response, "You know, now that you've told me that you're aliens, some of the things the others have said are starting to make sense."
"Oh really? Like what?" Max prodded me trying to make sure that I was okay with this new bombshell.
"Well, like the time Alex said that he was hoping you'd revive him, he meant that literally, but I didn't see it at the time. And then when they were talking about the club, the name, The Whirlwind, bothered them, but I couldn't see how, until now. Your planet is somewhere in the Whirlwind Galaxy?" Okay, so I was still babbling, but I think I earned that right. Don't you?
Max smiled at me, and nodded. "So, still want to come to Vegas with us? I'm sure we can tell you the whole story on the way there." There was more to tell? "Besides, I think Liz would want you there for us."
For us? I was confused again, "You guys going to celebrate something besides your homecoming?"
"We're getting married."

Epilogue
"…And so that's why I'm here in Vegas with the rest of you." I told the slender, raven-haired girl sitting across from me at the table as we both watched the Belligio's water show from our terrace seats. I looked back at Serena, you know if I hadn't just seen her erase a stain from her skirt when some one accidentally bumped red wine on to her pale blue satin dress I wouldn't have guessed she was an alien/human hybrid like the others. I turned to study her some more. She had her hair in a bob cut, dark brown eyes, and tan skin. She didn't talk about herself that much when we first met a couple of days ago, but considering that everyone else had coupled off we decided to make the most out of our situation and agreed to explore Vegas on our own. "So," I started, hoping to change the subject away from me, "do you know the joke behind the Elvis Chapel?"
"No, in fact I was hoping that you could tell me why Max and Liz kept laughing when Kyle asked if they wanted to get married there." Maria insisted on staying in the same hotel from their last visit, in high school. Hence, we were lodged in the Bali Hai, where they had an Elvis Chapel, for some reason, whenever Max or Liz saw it or someone mentioned the words to them, both of them would start to crack up, but I guess no one could figure out why. Anyway, they decided on a small ceremony at the Venetian with only the 8 of us as witnesses. They told us that they'll have another ceremony later when they went back to Roswell to tell their families, but last night was about them. I can honestly say; I do NOT want to be in Roswell when they break the news. "Well, do you mind letting me know where all of you boys disappeared to three hours before the wedding?" She asked me as she went back to eating her salad.
I groaned at the memory, "I was 'helping' Alex find a ring for Isabel." I replied as I sipped my drink.
Serena lowered her fork and her mouth formed a little oh, as her eyes widened a bit. "When is he going to ask her?"
I took a glance at my watch, "Oh, in about five minutes. He's going to take her on a gondola ride in the Venetian's underground river way."
She smiled a bit, "That's sweet." Then a look of confusion came over her, "Wait a minute, that explains Alex, but why were Max, Kyle, and Michael with you?"
"Alex wanted Max's and Michael's permission to propose to Isabel. Which I get in a way since Michael is like a brother to both siblings." Serena gave me another puzzled glance, but remained silent as I continued, "And it turned out that Michael and Kyle wanted to find rings too, and Max was looking for the perfect wedding present for Liz." I told her rolling my eyes.
She frowned, "So what was the problem?"
"Have you ever tried to go shopping with Michael for a gift for Maria?" She shook her head. "He was obsessed with finding something 'perfect' everything we pointed out wasn't 'original enough,' or 'too generic,' or 'just not her style.'" I saw her put her hand up to her mouth to stop laughing. "What, what did I miss?"
"I'm sorry;" giggle, "it's just that I think you may want to talk to Isabel, Max, and Tess about that. They kind of gave him a hard time about gift giving while they were away." Obviously she knew something and wasn't willing to share, yet. "So, Michael and Kyle are going to take the plunge too. Interesting."
"Yeah," I agreed. Then I remembered something that Kyle said to Max and thought that Serena might understand what he meant. "Serena, when Kyle was asking Michael's and Max's permission to propose to Tess he said something along the lines of 'You don't mind me marrying your Queen do you Max?' What did he mean by that?"
She stared at me for a moment before closing her mouth again. "They didn't tell you?"
I frowned. "Well, I know where there from, the Special Unit, and the Skins. If that's what you mean."
Serena shook her head, "No, I mean they didn't tell you that Max is our King?"
King? King? That means that Liz is now the Queen? And, and, that makes Isabel a princess, and- Okay, my brain isn't working right now. "King?" I repeated inanely. No, they forgot to tell me that little tidbit.
"I suppose that they didn't tell you that in his past life, Max and Tess were married." She continued ignoring my reaction.
"Nooooooo," I told her slowly.
She gave me a cheeky grin. "Well, I suppose I'll start telling you how I got involved in this. However, before I tell you my side, I suppose it'll be helpful if you heard another story first, very similar to your legend of Arthur. You see, on Antar over fifty years ago we had a king name Zan; he had a sister named Vilandra, and his second-in-command, Rath. One day, our king married another princess from another kingdom named Ava, and we prospered for a time…"
Jadeling's Notes: That's all! It's finished. I hope you all liked, and now here's a preview of my next story, Blind Date: Take 2:
DJ Johnny Robbins was reading over his list of sponsors he had to announce for his show and noticed a memo announcing their next contest. "We're doing the Blind Date thing again this year? Don't you remember what happened last year?" He asked his producer.
"Yeah," she told him as she sat at her controls.
"It was a disaster! That Doug guy, what was his name Shullow, Shallow?"
"Shellow."
"Shellow, thanks, was embarrassed in front of all of our listeners, plus, we humiliated Liz when we stormed into her bedroom to find two of her exes there. Not to mention that one of her exes managed to kidnap her." He continued to list all of the things that went wrong that night, until his producer placed a sheet showing the amount of listeners they had that night, along with transcripts from their internet forum. He just blinked at the numbers and then flipped the 'On Air' switch. "Hey ladies! Can't stand the boys at your school? Looking for a change? Then look no further than your local radio station. Back by popular demand KROZ is giving you a chance to win a free blind dream date! You can either enter yourself or your friend. Come to our website, KROZufo.com or call in at 1-234-ufo-kroz. Isabel shook her head as she turned off her radio; who the hell would enter such a dumb contest, and especially after what happened last year. She wouldn’t be caught dead entering.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maria heard the announcement. She pursed her lips and thought for a moment. Oh, if they ever found out she would be dead, but hey, it was harmless fun after all. Her thoughtful expression became a gleeful one as she began to grin.
