Chapter 11
First of all I would like to apologize for the delay. It's not easy to have a chance on the computer when you're a family of seven.

Chapter 11
“What happened? A premonition?” Max asked, getting a small nod from her.
“Premonition?” Zan questioned as he finished getting dressed.
“Liz can see the future. You know, like Madam Chloe. It’s one of her powers.” Michael announced.
“I thought she was human?” Zan asked confused.
“She is. I just changed her.” Max said helping he go down he stairs. “What was it?” He asked Liz brushing her hair back.
“The FBI. They found us. They’re coming Max.” Liz said covering her face with her hands.
“It’s okay. Can you see when?” Max asked rubbing her back to calm her down.
“It’s during the day. SUV’s pull up in the motel and I see them dragging you out Max, but then I see you with me hiding and watching while they’re taking you away. Oh, my God. This is just like when Agent Pierce took you away instead of Nasaedo. I can’t…I can’t let that happen.” Liz said rocking back and forth, angry and frightened, causing a gust of wind to sweep by, the lights flickered and then suddenly the screen of the T.V. burst into little pieces of glass. Everyone jumped at the sight. Maria screamed as Michael pulled her behind him for safety. Hearing the loud burst triggered Max to instinctively shield Liz with his body.
“Whoa!” Zan gasped seeing his T.V. completely destroyed. “I guess that’s power number two?”
“Try number three. We’ve never seen her do that before.” Michael corrected still covering Maria. Max slowly removed himself off of Liz only to discover her hands displaying a running green current of energy like when she first started to change.
“Max, what’s happening to me?” Liz asked with a shaky voice. Max just looked at her with confusion and pain, not knowing what to answer her.
“Maxwell, what’s the plan?” Michael asked trying to get back to the real subject at hand, the FBI. They found them and now they were coming to get them.
“We have to get Isabel and Kyle. Maria and Liz can stay here until we come back.” Max ordered.
“Max, no! I’m coming with you. I’m not losing you again.” Liz said gripping tight to his hand.
“Liz, I can’t…I can’t let them take you. Especially not now. Before you were only human to them, now you’re one of us. And I’d rather die than to see you in a white room.” Max assured her with pain in his voice and then gave her a quick kiss. “Stay here.”
“No Max. Before I couldn’t help. Now I can. And besides, I don’t think it was today so that means we still have time.” Liz said with a slight hint of happiness.
“How can you be sure?” Michael asked, still on his toes awaiting the plan.
“Because when I was running with Max…I wasn’t wearing this outfit.” Liz said pointing to her body. Chills ran up Zan’s back at the thought of having a free look at her body, first bare and now at her request, to everyone, but still, to look. “So we go get Isabel and Kyle and leave today.”
‘Leave?’ The word echoed in Zan’s ears like a loud chime. She couldn’t leave. Not yet while he was just discovering things about her. “How do ya figure it was just about Max-a-million? The suits could be scooping out Ava and me.” Zan quickly added his thought to their list of theories.
“I doubt it. They sent the hit squad for us not you guys.” Michael commented.
“Michael’s right. Lonnie and Rath told me that no one knew about you guys. The second set. So…”
“So what? We’re cool? I don’t think so. Those suits are gonna raid this place flashing your pics around and who the hell am I suppose to be? Max-a-million’s long lost ‘human’ twin? They’d toss me in a freak wagon the moment they see me.” Zan stated.
“Max. He’s right.” Liz said tugging on his sleeve.
“Damn right I am, Angel. So?” Zan insinuated so Max could come up with a new plan.
“Look, I’m not the King. I’ve said that already. I’m not ours and I’m not yours. So do whatever you want.” Max yelled at Zan.
“Look, your crew is supposed to be the Royal Four. Like it or not, you are their leader. And life was sweet, corny but sweet, until you got here and brought the hit squad on us. Now you got no problem about me. I can take care of myself. But Ava can’t and you just made her your responsibility.” Zan demanded stabbing his pointing finger in Max’s chest. Max swallowed his words knowing what Zan was saying was true. By them being there, it jeopardized Zan, Ava, and Cassian’s safety. And in Liz’s vision she saw a Max being taken away and a Max hiding with her. He just couldn’t take the risk. Like it or not, they were his responsibility now.
“So what are we going to do?” Maria asked biting the end of her sleeve nervously.
“First, we get to the motel. Then we vote.” Max said leading them out the door and towards the hotel.
“I’ll get Ava.” Zan said heading in a different direction.
The Black Rock Motel
“Max, what’s going on?” Isabel asked frightened.
“We’re blown.” Zan said holding an old Army fatigue backpack, identical to Ava’s.
“Blown? What’s he talking about?” Kyle questioned. Max and Liz brought them up to speed on the days’ events and deciding between staying and fighting or leaving while they were still ahead. When their votes were cast their plan was to leave while they still had a chance.
“Where’s Cassian?” Max asked.
“He’s staying behind. He met up with us later.” Zan answered.
“How would he know where we’re going? I mean we don’t even know.” Liz questioned.
“He always knows.” Ava answered.
“We’re going to need a bigger van.” Maria commenting knowing they barely had room for themselves let alone for two new members. Zan and Ava look at each other and smiled snatching everyone’s attention on their sudden emotion. “What?” Michael asked.
“New rides? We can help in that department.” Ava answered.
A barn out in solitude
“What is this place?” Liz asked as Zan unlocks the big wooden gate.
“Back up.” He answered, sliding the door open revealing four cars with covers on them. Ava and Zan began to remove the covers illuminating the car types.
“Must have a thing for GTO’s.” Both Kyle and Liz said at the same time. Zan smiled impressed that Liz knew her cars, but truth be told the real reason is ever since they’ve been on the road all she’s done was finger through car magazines that Kyle had smuggled in with his list of important things.
“When you date a car guy, you can’t help but pick up a few things.” Liz said smiling embarrassed at Kyle and Zan.
“Never figured you as a car guy Max-a-million.” Zan commented crossing his arms in front of his chest.
“She meant Kyle.” Max snorted and headed back near the car Michael was checking out.
“Wow. It just got Jerry Springer in here.” Zan and Ava began to laugh.
“So, what? You just happened to have four cars lying around?” Maria asked in skepticism getting a nod from both Ava and Zan.
“What about your other car?” Liz asked remembering the car he drove her in was neither of these.
“Gotta toss ‘em. Never know when ya gonna need to pick up and go.” Zan answered. “The ones we drive are back at the crib. That way no one knows what we’re driving. Cassian will bring the others over here and change them for a future back up.”
“The man is prepared.” Maria comments admiring the first car.
“This one is Cassian’s.” Zan said knocking on the hood of the only non-GTO, cream colored, Suzuki Swift.
“Brings back memories of “grand theft auto” in the Jetta.” Maria sarcastically snorted to Michael.
“Hey, if it wasn’t for the car jack you would have never met me.” Michael announced giving her a small kiss on the cheek.
“Alright so now we have rides. So what’s next?” Zan asked Max who was eyeing the black 1970 Dodge Charger.
“We have to decide where to go.” Max answered.
“Haven’t had a slice in a while.” Zan commented rubbing his stomach. Max looked around for any objections, seeing as there were none the vote was unanimous.
“New York it is.” Max stated and they began loading up the cars with the stuff the had in the VW Van.

Chapter 12
Yay! We're back! And I have been writing like crazy so here ya go.
Chapter 12
GTO 1970 Dodge Charger
Max was focused on the road. The nights on the road were brutal. Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, and now Ohio. In three days top they would be arriving in New York City. The driving had taken its toll on Liz who was curled up under Max’s arm with her head resting on his lap and his jacket over her to give her warmth. The sun had just begun to rise when Liz began to stir underneath him, letting out a small kitten moan as she stretched, reminding him of their joining night in Black Rock Motel. The only night that they had consumed their love to the last drop for the very first time. Max blushed innocently as Liz turned to lie on her back, accidentally copping a feel. Liz moaned at the feeling and opened her eyes to look up and see Max gazing at her with a small smile.
Tonic – If You Could Only See the Way
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me
Liz was wearing a thin white tank with a wrap around ankle length skirt that exposed most of her leg and thigh when she turned. The sight triggered his memory of the night he saw her frozen on Zan’s bed without her jeans. He remembered how she couldn’t move but when Zan called out to her it was as if she had snapped out of a trans. He mentally reminded himself to interrogate Zan about that and smiled at his options of whether or not to use force to get his answer. It was long overdue with all the slips of calling his Liz “Angel” and his ill confession of love towards Liz. Max grinded his teeth and tightened his fist, his first impulse was to tackle Zan and make him swallow his words but knew Michael would have stopped him and that wasn’t a side of him that he would want Liz to see. He just hoped that their days on the road would finally make him realize that Liz was his and only his.
Well you got your reasons
And you got your lies
And you got your manipulations
They cut me down to size
Sayin' you love but you don't
You give your love but you won't
Liz adjusted herself, trying to get the seatbelt buckle from poking her on the side, causing her leg and thigh to be fully exposed out the slit of the skirt and another free feel from the movements, this time her acknowledging the quick touch caused her to pout. “Sorry.” Max apologized.
“For touching me?” Liz asked confused. She knew Max’s type was nowhere near as ex-boyfriend Kyle’s type, who would take advantage of the situation to cop a feel and enjoy it mischievously. She couldn’t speak for Buddha Kyle, but for ex-boyfriend Kyle it was a definite yes. She always felt as if Max was afraid of touching her romantically. Even when they were officially together he hesitated to explore her, unless she said it was okay. She laughed at the irony of Maria’s envy. Maria envied Max’s romantic side and Liz envied Michael’s wild ravishing side. She mentally noted to dream up something with Maria to see if they could fix both their problems. Liz softly dragged Max’s right hand that was on her tummy and guided it up her body to cup her breast, holding her hand over his and looking up at his blushing face to assure him she wanted him to touch her. “Max’s my body is yours whenever you want it. I love to feel your hands on my body.” She whispered.
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me
Seems the road less traveled
Show's happiness unraveled
And you got to take a little dirt
To keep what you love
That's what you gotta do
Sayin' you love but you don't
You give your love but you won't
You're stretching out your arms to something that's just not there
Sayin' you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can
“I would bend down and kiss you but I’m afraid I might cause us to serve off the road.” Max said sliding his hand out from between Li’s hand and her breast, to trace her lips with his thumb. Liz kissed his thumb and turned inward, giving Max a rush of excitement at the sight, and then leaning over to him to kiss him.
“You can’t. But it doesn’t mean I can.” Liz whispered before kissing him again. Max tried to keep his eyes on the road but the taste of Liz’s tongue surfing in his mouth caused them to close in enjoyment. Max’s eyes quickly shot opened when Michael, in the Suzuki Swift behind them, suddenly blasted their horn. Liz giggled, giving him another quick kiss before sitting back down beside him.

“Why can’t he keep it in his pants?” Michael yelled as he honked the horn seeing Liz sitting back down.
“Funny. I can ask you the same question.” Maria questioned with a smile hinting his hypocrisy.
“What can I say? Your hot.” Michael answered. Maria nodded her head in agreement and snuggled near him.

“Max, we have to switch. You look exhausted.” Liz diagnosed as she brushed her fingers through his hair.
“We’re almost near the rest stop.” Max said pointing to a blue information sign. “We’ll switch then.”
”So what are we going to do when we get there?” Liz questioned entwining her fingers with his.
“Don’t know yet.” Max answered truthfully. “Haven’t really thought about it really.”
“So what have you been thinking about?” Liz questioned pressing her lips on the back of his hand that was still holding onto hers. “Cause all I’ve been thinking about is when you made me yours.” The sound of her acknowledging that delightful fact sent a thrill up his spine. Liz had saved herself for him and only him and couldn’t help but feel honored and like the luckiest guy in the world at the same time.
“Yeah, I really haven’t stopped thinking about that either.” Max answered softly kissing the back of her hand twice.
“It kind of sucks that you can’t be with me like that as much as I want you to, and believe me I want you to a lot.“ Liz confessed mortified on how open she was being with him.
“Not as much as me I bet.” Max answered flashing her with one of his famous flirty smiles that drove Liz crazy.
“Well, we better get there quick, because I don’t know how long I can hold on without feeling you being inside me again.” Liz admitted hearing Max accelerate the car when her heard her say that, making her giggle.

Chapter 13
Chapter 13
By the time they reached Scranton, Pennsylvania it was already nightfall. They decided to stop into a diner to get some dinner before their non-stop ride into New York City.
Emerald Diner
They were all sitting in a round booth together with Liz and Maria on the outside of each end and Max and Michael sitting on loose chairs that they brought from another table. “So what’s the plan, Maxwell?” Michael asked, dipping his French fry in his mixture of ketchup and Tabasco sauce. “How long do we plan on staying in New York?”
“I don’t know. If it looks safe, we’ll vote on it. If not, we keep moving.” Max answered taking a sip of his Cherry Coke.
“I hope it’s safe, because I can’t wait to take a shower in a normal size bathroom with...” Liz paused her statement realizing she was talking in front of everyone, “uh…with…with Max.” She finished boldly, causing Isabel to cough out her coke and Max to blush. Liz didn’t care, Max was her husband and she shouldn’t be embarrassed about being affectionate with him.
“I hear you.” Maria came in with the save of joined embarrassment raising her glass as if Liz just finished saying a toast.
“Yeah, maybe then I’ll finally get some hot water.” Michael grunted to Max.
“What do you mean?” Max asked unwittingly, not knowing what he meant, when he would shower with Liz they would be close enough to each other to let the water hit the both of them, alternating turns to soap and wash each other. Michael quickly shot a look to Liz who had the biggest smile on her face leaning over to kiss Max on the cheek as he took another sip of coke from his straw and then a harsh look to Maria for letting him freeze while she showered.
“Alright, I have to hit the little girls room before this starts getting ugly. Liz.” Maria called out. Liz cleaned off her hands and scooted out the booth giving Max a quick peck on the cheek to go accompany Liz to the restroom.
“What is that about?” Ava asked not understanding why Liz had to go with Maria if it was Maria who needed to go to the restroom. Getting a shrug from Zan, Isabel, Max and Michael.
“It’s a human chic thing.” Kyle answered scarfing down his fries, but then realized the still had a blank look of confusion on their faces. “It’s an unwritten rule they have. If one goes to the bathroom they go with a buddy. Human guys have a rule like that, it’s don’t go after a friends girlfriend, Evans.” Kyle stated to Max.
“What? I didn’t break that rule.” Max answered with a witty smile.
“He’s got you there, Buddha.” Michael answered taking another bite from his burger.
“Are you kidding? Max was the reason we broke up. He totally hit on her.” Kyle said in disbelief of Michaels assumption when the acts were as clear as day to him.
“First of all, healing someone when they’re shot doesn’t count as hitting on her. Two, you guys weren’t friends when it happened and three, his not human.” Michael said flapping his burger as he made his points. “So the way I see it, Maxwell didn’t break any rules. If you can color me surprised.”
“Uh, can you say “armed robbery”?” Max huffed.
“Once.” Michael replied not impressed.
"How many times do I have to get arrested to prove to you that I have a wild side?" Max question never meeting Michael's rebel standards.
"I'll let you know." Michael said patting Max back.
Diner’s Bathroom
“So, how’s it going?” Maria asked Liz as she retouched her lip-gloss.
“How’s it going?” Liz repeated thinking that’s an odd conversation starter.
“Yeah, the ‘I married an alien, got new powers, Jerry Springer of a fantasy of having ‘TWO’ kings duking it out for you life’ how’s it going?” Maria said in one breath.
“Maria.” Liz answered with a ‘your over reacting’ tone.
“Don’t you Maria me. From the looks of it the honeymoon has taken place already.” Maria assumed getting a glowing response from Liz confirming her suspicions. “So what’s up?”
“It’s stupid really. I was just thinking that maybe you can talk to Michael and get him to talk to Michael about being a bit more like him.” Liz asked twisting her fingers nervously.
“Uh, were you hit on the headboard while doing the deed? Wait, it’s the Czechoslovakians sex. It can do that to you believe me. It’s the only reasonable explaination for you talking crazy. Max ‘be’ like Michael? Why? I would kill to have Michael be a little more like Max.” Maria protested with screeching hands.
“I don’t want him to be Michael all the way, Maria.” Liz corrected frustrated. “I want him to be more physical like Michael. You know not afraid to touch my body. We’re married and he gets nervous when he accidentally cops a feel.” Liz informs her as she rinses her mouth with a travel-sized mouthwash making Maria laugh.
“All right. I’ll talk to Space Boy about Moon Doggie, but in return you talk to Max about getting Michael to do more romantic stuff.” Maria bargained. Liz agreed and they headed back to the booth. When they came out, Liz attention was snatched by what was showing on the T.V. monitor.
'Today the Marshall’s celebrate their 50th year anniversary in this Mid-August by giving away 5 gallons of free gas to their 50th customer. And here I stand with the lucky winner.'
Liz watches as the reporter approaches a man that seemed to be shy of the camera because he kept avoiding it.
‘Sir. Sir. How do you feel being the winner?’
‘Gas isn’t cheap.’ Was al the man answered before going into his SUV. Liz heart stopped. He was the same man she saw taking away Max in her vision.
“Hey, Gidget. The man won free gas not the lottery. Let’s go.” Maria said trying to push Liz to keep walking but Liz didn’t move. “What? What is it?”
“Maria, that’s the man I saw in my vision. The one that took Max away in Nevada.” Liz said pointing at the T.V.
“Are you sure?” Maria asked getting q quick nod from Liz. Maria looked back at the screen to remember the man’s face but instead remembered the gas station the interview was going on at. “Oh, my God. Max! Michael!” Maria called out. “That’s the gas station we were at two days ago.” She told them when they came to see what was going on.
“Yeah? So?” Michael asked.
“Liz saw the man in her vision there just now.” Maria summarized. Max and Michael quickly focused their attention to the screen.
‘…and back to you Caroline.’ The reporter dismissed herself as the scene change to a news studio.
“What you see exactly?” Michael asked Liz who looked pale.
“It was the man from my vision. But that was back in Cleveland. How can they be following us? How do they know where we’re going?” Liz asked hyperventilating.
“Liz, it’s okay.” Max assured her kissing the top of her head. “Michael, pay the check. We’re leaving.” Max ordered. Michael nodded and headed to the booth, lying money on the table and then rushed out the door with the rest of the group following behind.
Outside the Diner
“I don’t understand it. How can they be tracking us Maxwell?” Michael asked walking up to Max who was standing by the Dodge Charger with Liz beside him.
“I don’t know. Have any of you guys contacted anyone in Roswell?” Max asked the group but they all denied it. “Something’s got to be leading them to us. Zan, are you sure these cars are safe?”
“Yeah, man. Cassian said there cool.” Zan answered.
“But can we trust him.” Michael asked.
“Hey, his job is to protect us. Not rat us out.”
“Oh, that comes from a guy whose friends tried to kill him.” Michael snapped back with attitude.
“You got somethin’ to say?” Zan asked stepping up to Michael but got held back by Kyle while Max was holding Michael back.
“Knock it off!” Max yelled startling Liz, never really hearing Max raise his voice. The last time he was that angry, he punch Michael in the face for taking the orbs to Topolsky. “We don’t have time for this. Zan. Have you or Ava been in contact with Cassian?” He asked.
“No. He always finds us.” Zan answered.
“How?” Max question with suspicion.
“I don’t know. But he does. He always does.” Zan confirmed leaning on the car near Liz.
“Max. Michael.” Isabel called out “Look.” She said pointing to Liz, when they turned to look at Liz, both her and Zan had a blue glow piercing out through their shirts. They both took out the pendants they were wearing and saw them glowing more. “That’s how.” Isabel stated.
“How can they track us with a couple of chains?” Zan question walking away from them, but when he turned away the glow was gone.
“Wait. Come back over here.” Michael commanded. Zan walked back to where he was standing before and the chains started to glow. “It’s the pendants, Max.” Michael confirmed. Max moved Liz away from Zan to stop the pendants from glowing. “They’ll be coming here next Maxwell.” Michael warned.
“Max.” Liz called out tugging on his sleeve. “If someone is really tracking us because of this that means whoever is following us isn’t human.”
“She’s right Maxwell. FBI didn’t even know how the orbs worked. Whoever’s tracking us knows what this is and knows who we are.” Michael brainstormed valid points.
“So what do we do?” Isabel asked.
“They only glow when they’re together so the pendants stay separated and we go the rest of the way to New York without stopping. Michael and me will get containers of gas. We stop only to change the plates and the colors of the car. Pee then too. Whoever is following us is at least two days behind and will be heading here next so we leave now.” Max commanded. They all split into their assigned cars after Max and Michael got the gas and drove off towards New York City.
Chapter 14
Chapter 14
NYC Subway Station
“Home, sweet home!” Zan announced dropping down on the quilt-like couch.
“Yeah, you guys are really putting your Martha Stewart techniques into affect.” Isabel commented trying to avoid touching anything.
“Yeah, I’ve seen your crib, a real blast to the 50’s. Had a real ‘Beaver Cleaver’ feel to it.” Zan chuckled. “Must be a thing to match the gear.” He commented making Ava laugh as well. “What is that? ‘The Gap’?”
“You guys have the Internet?” Kyle asked surprised, wondering who pays the bill.
“Hey, we ain’t caveman.” Zan answered.
“Oh, yeah your vocabulary proves that fact.” Maria said out loud.
“Ouch. Below the belt, Luscious.” Zan said acting like he got it hurt in the stomach.
“Can you stop calling me that?” Maria pleaded annoyed.
“Uh…no.” Zan laughed and then looked over to Max who was kissing Liz lightly. “So what’s the plan, Preppy?”
“What? No more kings references?” Max asked annoyed by the interruption he suspected was on purpose.
“Not her, Preppy. Down here, I’m the king.” He said proudly.
“I’m jealous.” Max commented, Michael and Maria watched the ping-pong debate in surprise.
“Max? What are we going to do?” Isabel questioned.
“We vote. Stay here or keep moving.” Max suggested. “How many to stay?” He asked and with a show of hands the choice was to stay. “We stay until we figure something out, until then we make this place livable for eight.”
“What’s wrong wit it?” Zan asked tapping on the seat cushion getting a puff of dirt to blow in his face.
“Besides that?” Isabel asked annoyed he would even ask that. “Look, I’m so tired I can stand to sleep on one of those cots over there. Sleeping bags are out of the question. God knows what’s crawling around down here.” Isabel said shivering in discuss.
“She’s right.” Maria said tugging on Michael.
“Great. So where did you guys get the cots in the first place?” Michael asked Zan giving into Maria’s pout.
“The best place to shop in The Big Apple.” Ava answered.
“So, let’s go so I can get some sleep too.” Michael said heading out the way they came in from with Max and Kyle following behind him.
“Yo, there’s a problem.” Zan yelled causing them to stop and turn around. “This is New York, not an add for ‘Old Navy’. Maybe Mikey boy can pass by as human, but Urban Cowboy and College Preppy over there are sure to be scoped as aliens, no doubt.” Zan said making both Kyle and Max check out their clothes.
“So what are you saying exactly?” Kyle asked not getting his point since he is human.
“Point is you gotta change before you get us popped out there for your gear. This ain’t Manhattan. Ain’t no Spiderman here to save the day.” Zan snorted. “You guys can borrow some of my gear.” Zan offered pointing to a dresser that was near the stereo system under the pods on the wall. Max and Kyle rummaged through Zan clothes picking out an outfit the met Zan’s standards of human while Michael poked through Rath’s clothes picking out something for him self.
“So how do I look?” Max asked Liz about the sleeveless tee under the sleeveless hoody and baggy pants with chains connecting from his belt ring to his back pocket. Liz looked over to Zan and saw Max was wearing something similar to what he was but a little more tidy.
“Very original.” She said with a smile. “But I think your boxers are suppose to show.” Liz said lifting his tee up showing his washboard abs. “I forgot what I was doing here.” Liz said with a naughty smile.
“Max! Come on.” They heard Michael call out.
“I promise I’ll remind you later.” Max swore breathing heavy forehead on forehead with her and then giving her a quick kiss before finally leaving.
“Do you still want a little Michael on him?” Maria questioned get a hesitant yes from Liz. “Just making sure.” Maria laughed.
“So what are we suppose to do, sit here until the men come?” Isabel asked sarcastically.
“Well, I guess there’s no harm in giving this place a woman’s touch…a human one.” Maria suggested with crossed arms as she examined the place.
“Would Zan be cool wit it?” Ava asked unsure on how he would react after he just finished insulting their taste in clothes and home designs.
“Ava, sweetie. You have to understand what role you play in this group. We do what we want because we’re the girls and they just have to accept that in exchange for any future dangers they put us in.” Maria explained with a smile.
“Nice, Maria.” Isabel chuckled.
“What? It’s true.” Maria reassured her. “Only I have more demands because I myself do not bestow any alien powers, unlike Liz, Isabel and you.”
“Speaking out which, what can you actually do?” Isabel asked intrigued remembering she never had a chance to ask that to any of the second Royals.
“Mostly mind junk. Zan’s never healed anyone until now and if he focuses on somethin’ he can move it.” Ava said with a non-impressed shrug. “What can you guys do?”
“Well, we all can do the energy balls only Michael’s are way stronger than ours.” Isabel said shaking her head. “Strong enough to kill.”
“That’s because he’s a soldier.” Ava informed her.
“Second-in-command. Right.” Isabel said remembering Michael’s title. “He’s the only one out of us, that can change his appearance and fingerprints. I can manipulate any object and dream-walk into peoples’ minds by touching a photo of them. Sometimes I can do it while their still awake but it’s more difficult than it seems.”
“You guys have more powers since I crashed at Roswell.” Ava confessed impressed. “What about Max?” Ava asked.
“Besides the basics, he can heal, he’s telekinetic like Zan, and he’s the only one who can actually summon a shield of protection. And I guess gives off powers in Liz’s case.”
“Yeah, Kyle still hasn’t blasted anything yet.” Maria murmured.
“Well, Liz can see into the future from touching people…mostly Max but still, and we just saw what she did back at you guys house.” Isabel recalled as they looked at Liz with bewilderment. “I’ve only seen one other person do something like that…Tess.” Liz looked up at Isabel hating she had a power like the murderer Tess was. “Only Liz was pure energy. Tess’s was with fire. Completely different.” Isabel explained hearing a sigh of relief from Liz.
“It sure felt different.” Liz whispered.
“Well, it just got all depressing in here.” Maria commented on the sudden silence. “Let’s start cleaning.” They all got up quietly and began cleaning up they garbage that was scattered around. By the time they finished cleaning the place looked more as a loft or a studio instead of a subway tunnel.
“If you fall and break your neck I’m afraid to find out what Max will do.” Maria warned spotting Liz as she climbed the enormous entertainment center they had to supposedly clean off the pods but really deep inside she wanted to get a closer look.
“Relax Maria. I’m not going to…” Just as Liz rested her hand on the edge of the middle pod, perhaps the longest flash she ever endured blazed through her head, falling straight into Max’s frightened and ‘lucky, just in time to be there’ arms. Slowly opening her clenching eyes she looked up at Max and smiled innocently, “…fall.”
“What were you doing up there?” Max questioned exasperated at the thought of her dangerous carelessness. “You could have gotten hurt.” He warned.
“We were just cleaning.” Liz said babyishly.
“You must be really anal trying to clean up there.” Michael noted.
“Bite me.” Liz snapped unlike herself that left Michael staggered enough to not retaliate.
“Uh, what the hell are you guys wearing?” Kyle said making the guys realized that they had altered the clothes for a more punk look.
“Oh, uh, Ava did it. She could be a clothing designer or something.” Isabel said with a smile wearing an outfit Ava had picked out for her from Lonnie’s clothes. Max looked down at Liz and saw she kept the same white tank, which looked like a wife beater, and cut it to make it shorter exposing her whole abdomen. She had baggy black pants that hung from the tips of her hips. If it wasn’t for the tightly strapped Army-like belt he was sure those pants would slide of her. The combat boots where new to him. He never imagine her in a get up like that, even though it was a down version of what she was wearing when they held up the liquor store in Utah. Her hair was up wildly like it had been the day they danced in Las Vegas and blended well with her black shadowed eyes. Clearly the style suited her as it did Maria who was being twirled be Michael to get a view of the entire outfit.
“Wow.” He whispered to her.
“Thank you.” Liz blushed biting her lip from Max’s flattering gaze. “Um, listen. Can we go out tonight?”
“Yeah, I really think Michael and I should tag along. I mean it’s not everyday I can go on a double date with me best friend.” Maria said in a panicky chuckle before Max could answer Liz, giving Liz a ‘something’s wrong’ vibe. “So what do you say Casanova?” Maria repeated, not knowing that behind her Michael was waving his arms to get Max’s attention, and doing a ‘cut it’ sign by his neck so Max wouldn’t say yes.
“Sure. That’ll be fun.” Max said with a tight smile trying to avoid laughing for Michael’s confused ‘what the hell’ expression.

Chapter 15
Bobby’s Ice Cream Shoppe
Max and Michael grabbed their orders and walked over to the corner booth where Liz and Maria where sitting at. “What’s with the sneaky gossip?” Michael asked referring to the whispering Maria and Liz were doing before they got there.
“We’re not gossiping Michael.” Maria corrected irritated by his unmannered manliness. “We’re just talking about something strange that happened back in the subway…like when Liz fell.”
“That doesn’t count as strange. Stupid. But not strange.” Michael said handing her ice cream while sitting down.
“I had a flash.” Liz looks at Michael with a cold stare for his comment.
“We just got here!” Michael protested. Usually when Liz said she had a vision they normally would have to move.
“Shut up Michael!” Maria shushed. “I did too.”
“What?” Both Max and Michael questioned.
“Can you guys keep it down? I don’t think they heard you back in Roswell.” Maria said hushing them again. “I was touching Liz and then wham Madame Chloe in brain.” Maria says tapping her forehead lightly.
“Wait. Liz and I touched but I never saw her vision.” Max realized.
“Well, it happened. I don’t know how to explain it but it did.” Maria said taking another lick from her ice cream.
“What was it that you saw?” Max asked Liz.
“A granolith. A second one.” Liz described what she saw and told them how she suspected it was behind the pods like it was with their pods.
“Are you sure?” Max asked getting a nod from Liz.
“What are we going to do?” Maria asked finishing up her cone.
“Shouldn’t we tell the others first?” Liz asked already done with her cone.
“I vote we don’t.” Michael suggested quickly.
“What? Michael we have to. We don’t keep secrets.” Maria reminded him.
“Not from Isabel and Kyle.” Michael added. “Did you forget why Lonnie and Rath came to Roswell in the first place? They didn’t come for the sites, Maria. They came for the Granolith. So you can understand why I don’t to share that there’s another one.”
“Michael’s right. We don’t know what they’ll do if they find out there’s a second Granolith.” Max indicated.
“But Zan didn’t keep the stones. He brought them back and left.” Liz reminded him as well. Max felt a little uncomfortable with Liz defending Zan, no matter how small the issue was.
“Yeah, a real Saint.” Michael snorted. They stayed quiet for a few moments. Liz was playing with Max’s fingers with a penciled expression. “What? What are you thinking?” Michael asked in regards to her thought causing Max and Maria to look at her as well.
“It’s just…I can’t help but think that maybe when they sent the other set of you that maybe they sent a set of everything.” Liz commented still looking puzzled. “I mean it would explain why theirs two Granoliths and two pendants. So maybe there are two more orbs and another Destiny book somewhere around here.”
“We found the book because Nasedo told Tess where to find it.” Max answered.
“Maybe Cassian knows where to find the others.” Michael replied, seeing reason to Liz’s suggestion. “So where’d you guys find the book again?”
“What are the chances that their in the same spot. I’m mean, take a look around there isn’t exactly Roswell businesses around.” Maria points out. “I think we should get help from at least from them about the area. If not from Zan then at least from Ava.” Maria suggested.
“No. There’s no vote to this. We don’t tell Zan or Ava anything until we figure out for ourselves.” Max said firmly, getting a nod of approval from Michael.
“So what’s the plan?” Michael asks hyped up on this knew information.
“I don’t know. We at least know where the Granolith is. We can’t do anything with it so I saw we find the book and orbs.” Max proposed.
“But Max, Pierce had the other orb and we found the other buried in Roswell.” Liz refreshes his memory so he can see the impossibility to that quest.
“Easy. So you and Max continue with the sucking face and we’ll stand by until Liz gets a flash.” Michael urges, seeing Liz lower her head from embarrassment as she chewed on her lip and held on to Max’s hand a little tighter. Max looked at Liz and then shot a look to Michael who was getting slapped on the arm by Maria. “What? It worked last time.”
“I was just saying…it can take months to find them. If we’re going to be looking for anything I say we start with the book.” Liz finished her thought.
“Okay, so where do we look?” Michael asked.
“Well, Tess found the book in the public library. We can start there.” Max recommended.
“Great, let’s go.” Michael cheered standing up but being pulled back by Maria.
“Now?” Maria asked in surprise. “Don’t you think we’re a little unprepared and why are B & E’s such a happy thing for you?”
“We’re talking about breaking into a frickin’ library, Maria. We did the same to the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. A library we should be able to break in with our eyes closed.” Michael snaps back. “Look if we go now, no one is there. If we scope out the place chances are we’ll get recognized. Best chance we have is go in quietly and come out the same way.”

Chapter 16
Chapter 16
New York Public Library
Max and Liz are by the backdoor unlocking it while Michael and Maria stand by the corner of the building to keep watch. When Max opens the door they all run inside, Michael quickly goes to the security alarm and bypasses it. “Okay, we’re clear.” Michael whispered.
“Okay so where do we start?” Maria asked.
“Tess found the book behind green binded books with a shield or a crest on it.” Liz remembered.
“Great, there has to be at least a hundred around here like that.” Michael curses as he visually looks around.
“It was in the Ancient Language department.” Liz added with a smile, Michael’s head spun around, looking at Liz in surprise and then flashing her with a half smile impressed.
“Okay, Ancient Languages. You look upstairs we’ll look downstairs.” Michael commanded.
“Wait Michael!” Liz said stopping him then turning to the Dewey Decimal Chart that was posted on the wall. “All we have to do is look…okay 400 Languages…” She said aloud to herself and continued to scan through the chart ”…uh, oh there it is, 490 Other Languages.” She said with a proud smile and then turned around to find an astonished Michael, an unimpressed Maria, and a proud Max, looking at her. “What? Let’s go.” She said modestly grabbing Max’s hand and leading the way to that section. When they got there Max and Michael began to skim through the spines of the books to see if they could spot the books since they could see better in the dark. “It’ll be faster if I look for them.” Liz advised as she climbed on a small footstool and began waving her hand over the books to see if she could find it with her powers, suddenly an alien symbol flashed in her mind. “It’s here!” She cheered in happiness as she got down. Max climbed up, cleared the books and waved his hand on the wall making a silver hand appear. He stuck his hand in and pulled out a purple book and smiled.
“There’s something else in there.” Max said tossing Michael the book and sticking his hand back in and pulling out a shiny purple tie-baggy.
“Crown Royal? At least someone in your planet knew how to party.” Maria joked as she saw Max return the books to there original spots and hop down. He untied the bag and out came two eye-like orbs with the symbol on Zan’s pendant and snapped his head up to look at Michael. Michael nodded with a smile and then looked over at Liz who had an amazed expression.
“Remind me to get you guys another wedding present.” Michael said in his way of gratitude and then walked off with Maria. Max quickly took the opportunity to embrace Liz in a hug and kissed her passionately. He slowly stopped the kiss and rested his forehead on hers, looking into her wanting eyes.
“Thank you.” Max said giving her another kiss and then led her outside where Maria and Michael were waiting. “Let’s go.” Max said walking away from the library and heading back to the car.

“So what are we going to do know?” Maria asked.
“We have to go back to Las Cruces.” Michael said draping his arm around Maria. Max pulled up near the subway entrance and then gripped the wheel.
“We have to decode to book.” Max continued, saying exactly what everyone knew and feared…going back to New Mexico.
“If we all go to New Mexico someone will spot us. It’s not safe.” Maria answered with a shaky voice.
“Hey, you think I want to go back. I’ve been wanting to get out of Roswell since I was 6, but we don’t have a choice now, do we?” Michael yelled.
“Michael’s right. We don’t have a choice. We have to get the decoder for this book.” Max said lifting the tin purple book.
“Max I know this is important for you. For all three of you, but I don’t think I can handle hearing another destiny meant for you to live.” Liz confessed shaky. Max took her hand and smiled.
“You’ll never have to worry about that again Liz. My destiny lies with you. Our lives aren’t complete without you and Maria in it.” Max declares kissing the back of her hand as Michael kissed Maria’s forehead. “Without you guys, I don’t think we could have made it this far. So it doesn’t matter what happens 5 years or 50 years from now, one thing’s for sure, as long as we have you nothing matters.”
“But Max, Maria’s right. They probably have people looking out for us…for you.” Liz paused for a moment. “For Michael and Isabel. It’s different now.”
“We have to do this.” Max declared, running his fingers through her hair.
“They’ll find us.” Maria whispered.
“No they won’t.” Michael answered with confidence. “Cause it’ll just be me and Maxwell going.”
“What?” Maria exclaimed. “You can be serious? We stick together no matter what. That’s the deal.”
“Maria you said it yourself. They’ll be looking for all of us. We’ll be less noticeable with the rest of you guys tagging along.” Michael explained.
“Tagging along?” Maria repeated. “I may not be your wife, but I’m a part of your life, like it or not. We do things as a team.” Maria exasperated not knowing what else to say and then looked at Liz in self-defeat. “Liz you can’t agree with this?” Liz shook her head and then looked at Max.
“Maria’s right, Max. So…” Liz trailed off.
“So what?” Max pressed.
“So I figure Maria and I go alone.” Liz suggested.
“No way.” Michael yelled in disagreement. “You two don’t want us to go alone but it’s okay for you two to go on your own? No. No way. Max. Tell her.” Michael demanded.
“Liz you’re not going.” Max said firmly.
“Neither is Maria. I told you two that when you guys went the first time. Wherever you go and it turns out to be dangerous I’ll sure as hell be there to protect you. I’m not letting anything happen to you, Maria.” Michael preached.
“If Liz thinks it’s okay for us to go, then I trust her.” Maria answered.
“Michael, they’ll be looking for you and Max more than us. We were there already, so no one would suspect us. We already know where to go and what to get. And besides, who’s going to access the quantum computer? Michael? No offense.” She apologized when she turned and looked at him.
“None taken.” He replied.
“I’m just saying it’ll be easier. And if for some paradox reason something does happen, I can take care of us.” She said hinting towards her powers.
“Liz your powers are just as shaky as mine.” Michael commented.
“I’ve been practicing.” Liz replied. “Look there’s no debate on this. We go, get the book translated and then came back safe and sound.” Liz clarified. “We need this. You need this.” After she spoke there was a dead silence in the car until Max started the engine. “Where are we going?” Liz asked getting no answer from Max. He simply just drove.

Chapter 17
Chapter 17
West Motel Parking Lot
When they pulled up, Max and Michael quickly got out of the cars. From the moment Max turned the key to the ignition on, Michael knew exactly what he was doing. He was going to let Liz and Maria go to Las Cruces. He knew that Max would rather die than to send Liz anywhere without him being right with her, so by letting them meant that he truly felt they needed this. He knew this because he felt it as well towards Maria and he wasn’t going to spend the night before they go in the subway with six other people. He knew that’s exactly how Max felt. He needed to be alone with Maria just as much as Max needed to be alone with Liz. “They’ll be okay.” He heard Max assure him.
“I hope so.” Michael answered lowering his head as they headed back towards the car where Liz and Maria where outside of hugging each other and waiting for them to return. Michael took Maria’s hand and headed to their room as Max did with Liz.
Room #4
“Max.” Liz called out, Max locked the door and quickly went up to her and passionately started kissing her. It was like the kiss they shared in Roswell during the heat wave and the kisses in her room when they were supposedly studying for Biology all rolled into one moment of embracement and caressing. “Max.” She moaned in a supple manner. “Please. Go slow.” Liz pleaded feeling Max’s urge as if it were going to be the last time they’d be together. Max stepped back in surprise of his actions standing before a just as surprised Liz.
“I’m…I’m sorry.” Max stammered, running his fingers through his hair roughly as he sat on the corner of the bed, holding his head with his elbows pressed for support on his legs. Liz looked at him with passion and concern. She knew she’d be reacting the same way if the situation were vise versa. Situations had increased to the maximum levels on the danger scale for them. No more agents looking to study them, it was now agents looking to kill them. All of them. Human or not.
“Max, I’m coming back to you. I promised. “She assured him. Max didn’t move a muscle. She walked behind him and lifted one leg over the bed as she sat down to have Max sitting between her. She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her cheek on his curved back. “I love you.” She whispered. Hearing her pledge of love for him Max took on hand and began caressing Liz’s buckled hands. Liz lifted her weight on one leg balancing with her knee on the unstable mattress curling her fingers underneath the material of Max’s sleeveless hoodie and peeling it off him and tossing it to the side. She quickly moved to the edges of his t-shirt and lifting it off with her fingertips, exposing his bare chiseled golden back and manly shoulders. She then sat in her original position, both legs at Max’s sides and palmed his tightening abs. She roamed his pecks and traced every muscular cut that appeared with light movements. She then leaned back slightly, removing her sports bra and white tank in one swoop and then pressing her humble breast against his bare back. The feeling sent wild chills down Max’s fingers and increased when he would feel her soft lips trail kisses on his back. She was going slowly. Taking her time to explore him like she wanted. Max lifted his hand and used his powers to turn off the lights and turn on the small lamp on the desk, picking up that move from Isabel, still not being able to ignite candles as she could. She the stood up as before and began to nuzzle and caress the crook of his neck and behind his ear with her lips and the tip of her nose. Her hands stroked down his arms and to the button of his jeans. She struggled at first but he guided her with his hands finally completing the task of shredding him of his clothes. Liz moved in front of him and guided him to do the same with the remainder of her clothes. He cared her over to the bed, lowering her with care as the started to kiss each other intensely, roaming and discovering new skin and flesh that was uncharted in there first love making encounter. Finally pushing him self in her, feeling the warmness of her thirst for him and rocked rhythmically. Liz moaned quietly in ecstasy as Max watched her with concern, kissing her and whispering in her ear. Ma x reminded himself over and over to pull out before he released himself in her seeing how they were lacking protection, but when the moment came, Liz begged for him to continue, his reminder long forgotten.
The night they spent talking over what they enjoyed sexually, promising future trials when she would return from Las Cruses. Max slowly dose off into blissful memories of their passion, making sure he recalled every detail to never forget how it felt. The next morning, he awoke by the screech of the shower knob turning the water off, realizing Liz was already up he forced him self up and headed to the bathroom in his boxers. He discovered Liz in a white cotton towel wrapped around her sweet smelling skin and damp hair. “Good morning.” She greeted with a kiss.
“Someone woke up on the right side of the bed.” Max commented with a smile.
“Well, that’s because you were on it.” She replied with a shiny smile. She went out and got dressed. Smiling and blushing by herself when flashes of their lovemaking would rush through her mind. When she heard the shower screech, she walked over to watch Max step out of the shower. Max was startled at first, it had only been a few days experience to see her when he was in the shower and needed extreme work getting use to the feeling, which he had no complains about it. “Towel?” She asked desirably with a towel hanging on the hook of her finger. Max smiled and grabbed the towel, wrapping it around his waist and began to brush his teeth. Liz glided behind him and began kissing the side of his back supplying him with a rush of excitement.
“You keep that up and you’ll be back on the bed.” Max hissed playfully.
“Is that a threat or a promise?” Liz asked, still continuing with the kissing with additional tongue action. Max smiled and lifted her by her waist as she hopped up and wrapped her legs around his waist.
“You ready to go?” Michael barged in asking with Maria right behind him. “I guess not.” He fidgeted embarrassed. “We’ll wait for you in the car.” He coughed closing the door.
“I guess it’s a promise.” She laughed giving him another kiss.
“Yeah, we have to go back anyways. Isabel’s going to kill me.” Max answered in fear of his sisters’ reaction for him failing to report where they were going.

NYC Subway Station
“Where the hell have you guys been? I’ve been worried sick.” Isabel yelled in irritation before noticing that Liz and Maria were not with them. “Where’s Liz and Maria?” She asked with her hands on her hips.
“Good morning to you to Isabel.” Michael sarcastically commented.
“Uh, Michael? I don’t think this is the right time to be you right now.” Max advised seeing Isabel’s eyebrow rise, her foot tapping and her arms crossed in anger.
“No. It’s not.” Isabel warned. “Where were you?” She repeated.
“We went out for ice cream and then…” Max trailed off not knowing what excuse to give her to cover up for the B & E and motel rendezvous.
“And then Max needed some alone time with Liz.” Michael intercepted “You know. Newly weds and all.” Max looked at him with gratitude getting a “your welcome” nod from Michael.
“Yeah, we have no way of calling you. I’m sorry.” Max apologized.
“Here, man.” Zan said tossing him and Michael a small cell phone. “So you won’t piss your sister off anymore.”
“Yeah, it’s not a pretty sight.” Kyle commented getting a cold stare from Isabel. “So, where exactly did you say Liz and Maria go?” He quickly changed the subject.
“They’ll be back later on.” Max answered.
Little did he know 5 days had passed and no word from Liz. He looked over at Michael and he looked just as terrible as he did. They were both unshaven, hair tousled and the moped around the place. Meanwhile, back in Las Cruces, Liz and Maria were going through a different process.

Maria was leaning on Liz’s shoulder, taking a short catnap since they’ve been sleeping in the GTO and it was her turn to sleep in the front. ‘Beep’ the computer sounded off scaring Maria. “What? What is it?” She asked startled.
“It’s done.” Liz said moving the mouse to the print icon. The printer began to warm up and then at least 15 sheets came out.
“What does it say?” Maria asked looking over Liz’s shoulder.
University of New Mexico Cafeteria
“Spill it. What does it say?” Maria said taking another huge bite from her submarine sandwich.
“It talks about how to use the granilith. It mentions the other planets too. Corvus, Equilus, Antela, Octan, and Antar.” Liz read then her eyes widened.
“What?” Maria asked noticing her surprised expression.
“It’s just…reading the names out loud just certifies everything.” Liz said with a faint smile. “It just makes everything Max is…real.”
“Yeah, I know how you feel.” Maria gave a faint laugh. “I think Space boy is the perfect pet name for Michael.” She laughed along with Liz. “Does it say anything about them?”
“Just the usual. Royal for. Max is King of…”Liz notices a girl walking towards them. “…of my heart.” She finished hiding the book underneath the table.
“Hi. I’m not interrupting anything am I?” She asks, Maria and Liz shook their heads and watched as she sat down with some struggle. “My name is Cassey. Are you guys freshmen’s?”
“We’re visiting. You know exploring our options.” Maria quickly answered.
“Yeah, I hesitated at first about going to school. But the school’s cool with girls in our conditions.” She said pulling out a banana from her bag.
“What do you mean “our conditions”? Maria asked puzzled.
“Yeah, I’m 2 months now. What are you guys at least a month?” She estimated. Maria and Liz just looked at each other and started laughing.
“Oh, no. We’re no pregnant.” Liz answered.
“There’s no way.” Maria added.
“Well, you guys are radiating with signs. The glowing…the food…” She watched as Liz and Maria through each other glances but couldn’t imagine the thought of being pregnant. “Oh, there’s my boyfriend. Got to go.” She said waving to a guy near the door before leaving with him.
“She’s crazy.” Liz commented, thinking back that she's only made love with Max twice.
“Yeah, a real wacko.” Maria replied and then gave Liz a worried look. “Okay, what if she’s not a complete basket case and we’re…”
“Maria that’s impossible. It can’t be.” Liz said trying to convince herself as well. “And if by some miracle we are, it’s not like we can go to a doctor and find out.” Liz reminded.
“We can get pregnancy tests.” Maria suggested.
“Oh, my God. I can’t believe you just suggested that Maria.” Liz spoke in a shaky voice holding her stomach from the nausea and then suddenly a flash of Max kissing her round stomach appeared in her mind. Liz opened her tight eyes and just looked at Maria as pale as snow. “Maria.” Liz called out in a frightened tone.
“Yeah, right.” Maria yells covering her mouth in disbelief getting a nod from Liz confirming her suspicions. “Oh, my God! Do me. Do me.” She waved her hands hysterically.
“Maria, relax.” Liz advised, Maria nodded taking in a breath and staying still as Liz placed her hand on Maria’s stomach. Suddenly a flash of Maria eating a candy bar and Michael listening in on the baby with and ear pressed up on her belly. The flash ended and Liz opened her eyes wide.
“Shut up!” Maria yelled covering her mouth again.
“What am I going to tell Max?” Liz asked.
“What am I going to tell Michael?” Maria added.

Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Kentucky Inn
Three days passed by the time they reached Kentucky. Both Maria and Liz were not exactly sure how to bring up the news about their pregnancies, but deep down inside they felt the guys would be just as happy. “So tell me what I’m having?” Maria asked with a big smile, she was turned to her side with her head propped up facing Liz.
“Maria.” Liz exclaimed, lying in the same position facing Maria. Maria had been asking for the sex of the baby since they’ve been on the road and keeps changing her mind from wanting to know to not wanting to know.
“No for real this time.” She begged.
“It’s a boy.” Liz answered with a smile.
“A boy!” Maria yelled happy. “Oh, I can just imagine Michael’s face when he finds out the baby’s a boy. What about you? Boy or girl?”
“Boy.” Liz replied with a smile reaching ear-to-ear, finding herself cheering for joy with Maria. “I can not believe I’m going to be a mother.”
“Me either. You’re like the last person I’d expect to get pregnant. I was like the second to last.”
“Actually, you were the last person I’d expect to get pregnant. I was the second, maybe third to last.”
“What? No way.” Maria asked in shock.
“Yeah. Things were getting a little intense between me and Max.” She confessed. “Max was already hitting 2nd base and I don’t think I had enough will power to stop him into going all the way.”
“How do you think that girl knew we we’re pregnant?” Maria asked.
“Well, remember when Karen was pregnant our sophomore year?” She asked getting a nod from Maria signifying she recalled the event. “Well, when she would work with me she always use to say that she noticed at lot a pregnancies in Roswell…but she was the only one I noticed that was. I guess it’s just a feeling you have. Like a sixth sense or something.”
“Wait, Michael told me that alien pregnancies last a month. Shouldn’t we start thinking of names, Liz?”
“Wow. A month. Doesn’t give us much time to prepare, does it?” Liz answers. “You know maybe it’s different for us? Tess was half alien, maybe the ‘one month’ rule only applies to aliens.”
“Yeah, Tess was gone for about a year. Zan was at least 3months old not to mention human. So maybe our pregnancies will be on a normal scheduled arbitrary date.” Maria shrugged accepting the possibilities of having a human pregnancy.
“Arbitrary date?” Liz repeated.
“Yeah.” Maria said leaning to the side of the bed digging through her bag and taking out a yellow “So Your Expecting” book and tossed it to Liz. “I got this book before we left Las Cruces. It has a bunch of fact things in there. Be afraid of Chapter 2: Morning Sickness.”
“The only book I’m afraid of is this one.” Liz said pulling out the purple metal book with staple pages in the middle of it. “In the last book it was literally written that me and Max shouldn’t be together…”
“Is that why you haven’t read it yet?” Maria asked getting a sad yes from Liz. “Liz, you two are not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore. You guys are husband and wife, now. Parents. I doubt something stupid like this book is going to tear you apart now.”
“I hope you’re right.” Liz answered.
“So come on. Be the new butt kicking Liz and read this book.” Maria said opening it to the first page. “And tell me what’s going to happen with my Space boy.” Liz takes out the translation and began reading it. “What does it say?”
“This book is like a guide book. Almost a dictionary for Antar. It talks about the Skins and a second harvest. It says that the Skins will continue to create these husks until they return to their planet with the Royal Four. It even mentions Courtney.” Liz informs Maria who shot Liz a surprised look. “Apparently, she’s a general to the rebellious Skins called the Lynx and Rath, Michael, was their inspiration.”
“Yeah, Michael-worshipper to he tenth power.” Maria snorted. “What else does it say about her?”
“It says hear that Rath and her were…involved.”
“What?” Maria exclaimed. “I knew something was up with that chic. Leader my ass.” Maria said staring up at the ceiling.
“It says Rath. Not Michael.” Liz reminded.
“Oh, don’t give me that.” Maria snapped back “Like the whole Tess and Max thing never happened.”
“Your right. It did happen. But it never would’ve if Tess hadn’t of mind warped hi to believing all these things and if I hadn’t of pushed him to go to her.” Liz snapped right back.
“I’m sorry.” Maria apologized for bringing up painful memories. “ Keep going.”
“Larek. It says here that Larek and Zan were friends but the war tore them apart. It also says that he was in love with Ava.” Liz said intrigued with raised eyebrows.
“No way! So like Tess and Brody were…you know together?” Maria asked just as interest.
“I don’t think so. Zan married her. Larek and Rath were loyal to him.” Liz summed up. “Oh my God, it mentions the second orbs and pendants. It says there are to sets of orbs. One’s from their mother and the other’s from their father. The pendants were gifts to the Royal Four from a craftswoman on the day the Royal Four were introduced to Antar. Zan got the Dubno pendant.” Liz said looking back at the metal book to look at the picture. “It looks like Saturn.” Liz said pointing to the picture of bent parenthesis symbols clamming a dot. “It makes since. In Roman mythology, Zeus was known as Jupiter, the supreme ruler.”
“You’re like loving the whole Max is King thing, aren’t you?” Maria asked with a smile.
“It is a little ego boosting.” Liz laughed.
“Naturally.” Maria said with a smile getting a proud smile from Liz. “What about Space boy’s? Is there a pendant with a Metallic logo an it or something?” Maria snorted in annoyance. Liz laughed and searched for Rath’s pendant.
“Rath got the Anter pendant.” Liz said pointing out the symbol that appeared like the rock formation where the pods were found. “No wonder he was the one that found it.”
“Yeah. Yeah. He’s clairvoyant like you, but what does it mean.” Maria begged in anticipation. “Does it mean heartbreaker?” Maria asked praying it didn’t mean anything remotely as close.
“It means defending men.” Liz said looking back at the translation sheet. “It explains why he’s Max’s second-in-command.” Both Maria and Liz nodded in acceptance. “ Oh, here’s Isabel’s. Vilandra received the Thyth pendant.” She looked back at the metal book and spotted her symbol it was the whirlwind pendant Max had given her in remembrance of him in replacement to his class ring.
“That’s why she was drawn to it at the geodesic dome back at Marathon.” Maria remembered.
“It means ‘gentle strength’.” Liz continued and then skimmed down to Tess’s. “Wow!”
“What? What is it?” Maria asked concerned.
“It’s the pendant that’s the one Zan has.” She recalled pointing to the symbol of the four-squares. “It belonged to Tess, I mean Ava.”
“What does it mean ‘grim reaper’ or ‘poisonous’?” Maria asked with sarcasm.
“No. According to this there was a big issue with Tess’s pendant.”
“Issue?” Maria repeated captivated and mystified.
“Yeah, it says on the day of the pendant presentation, the craftswoman gave Ava a pendant with the symbol called Akev, the Queen was offended and commanded the craftswoman to make another pendant for her. The craftswoman did, she made her another one with Moira symbol, meaning ‘great’. After the ceremony, the craftswoman was executed and the Akev symbol was destroyed.”
“Wow.” Maria said breath taken by the story. “What did this ‘Akev’ symbol mean?” Maria asked curiously.
“One who takes the place of another.” Liz answered with a stunned face.

Chapter 20
NYC Subway Station
“Back later on, huh” Michael said pacing back and forth. “It’s been almost two weeks, Maxwell.”
“You think I don’t know this.” Max answered in a shaky voice. “Liz is out there too.”
“You guys should’ve told us. At least one of us could’ve gone with them.” Isabel said with her arms crossed.
“Shh! Keep it down.” Michael hushed her making sure Zan and Ava didn’t hear. He looked over to their direction, they were playing one-on-one basketball.
“Have you heard anything from them?” Kyle whispered.
“It’s not like they have a phone number for them to call us.” Max whispered back.
“Well, I don’t think it was a good idea.” Isabel snapped secretly.
“Well, can’t you dream walk them and find out how they are?” Michael suggested.
“Do you guys have a picture of them?” Isabel asked. Both Michael and Max pulled out their wallets and hand Isabel a picture of Maria and Liz. Isabel touched both their faces and an aquatic like cover shimmered over their faces. Isabel started walking and saw that both Liz and Maria were sitting on a long couch with two blue bassinets in front of them and a bundle in their arms. Maria and Liz were whispering baby gibberish to the bundles and as she walked closer to them she saw they were holding babies. ‘Oh, my God!’ Isabel exclaimed with a smile before snapping out of the dream walk finding Max, Michael, and Kyle surrounding her.
“What?” Max asked referring to her rapid breathing.
“What’d you see?” Michael asked concerned.
“What’s goin’ on with her?” Zan asked as he twirled the ball on his fingertip. “She tryin’ to get a fix on Angel eyes and Luscious?”
“Liz and Maria.” Kyle corrected.
“Whatever, Pope.” He answered.
“So whatcha pick up?” Zan asked still not dropping the issue.
“Nothing.” Isabel answered but saw how Zan wasn’t buying it. “Just got startled. I don’t really need Liz having a kinky dream about my brother and me stomach to watch it.” Isabel shrugged off as did Zan who returned to play with Ava.
“So our cover get’s blown and you two are just playing basketball?” A voice from the entrance of the subway tunnel said. When they all looked, Ava and Zan seemed relieved.
“Cassian!” Both Ava and Zan greet at the same time.
“You guys okay.” He asked them.
“Yeah. We were being followed though. Some dudes. Tracking us by the chains.” Zan summarized their trip in three short sentences.
“Wait. Weren’t there six of you?” Cassian asked pointing to Max, Michael, Kyle and Isabel.
“The other two will be back later.” Max answered.
“So you’re the King of Antar.” Cassian stated looking Max up and down. “Where’s your protector?”
“Dead.” Michael answered.
“Where’s your wife?” Cassian asked Max.
“She’ll be back later.” Max answered.
“Na, Elvis. He means your Ava lady.” Zan corrected.
“Oh, she’s dead.” Max answered just the same.
“Know the feeling. I knew your protector.” Cassian informed them.
“You knew Nasedo?” Michael asked.
“Nasedo? Oh, yes. That’s what you called him.” Cassian recalled. “We meet back at the palace. When we were assigned to protect the pods. We kept in touch for 50 years. Pity he died.” Cassian said emotionless.
“Don’t seem to broken up about it.” Kyle commented.
“That’s because I’m not human…” Cassian answered as he made an examining circle around him. “…but you are.”
“He’s with us.” Isabel answered.
“I didn’t know Nasedo allowed you to get involved with humans.” Cassian snickered.
“He didn’t have to ‘allow’ us to do anything.” Max answered in a harsh tone.
“No matter. I was sworn to protect you if, Nasedo, failed to.” Cassian added.
“He didn’t fail. He was killed.” Michael answered irritated by Cassian’s snobby tone. “And anyways, if you swore to protect us, where were you when the hit squad had targets on our heads?” Michael asked angry.
“As you can see. I had issues to take care of as well.” Cassian said pointing to Ava and Zan. “I am still their protector, no matter if they are not the Royal Four.” He said before walking over to Zan and Ava and began to talk with them on the opposite side of the tunnel.
“That guy has a bad attitude problem.” Kyle commented.
“He’s a shape shifter. What’d did you expect? Punch lines and balloons?” Michael sarcastically replied.
“So is that a confession that your part shape shifter too?” Kyle snapped back getting Isabel and Max to laugh.
“Anyways. So back to the real issue at hand.” Michael changed the subject quickly not wanting to admit that Kyle Valenti had burned him badly with that comment. “We’ve been worried sick and they’re having cheesy sex dreams about us?” Michael asked perplexed, not knowing whether to be upset or flattered.
“Something big has happened to the two of them. Really big.” Isabel said all wide-eyed.
“What is it?” Kyle asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Max. Michael. Liz and Maria are pregnant.”
