Chapter 11
“Max! Hurry up!” Liz exclaimed from inside the hotel’s elevator. She heard him laugh and he scurried in, all of her shopping bags on his arms.
Saying he had spoiled her would be an understatement. They had visited almost every boutique in Rome, and Max bought her anything and everything her heart desired; even some things she didn’t ask for.
“Max, I feel bad about spending all of your money like this, and look, you barely got anything for yourself, only that suit and the candy bar,” Liz said, kissing Max on the jaw.
“Don’t worry sugar, my pay has been coming good lately, all the merchandising and whatnot, plus, these two weeks are about spoiling YOU, not me,” Max replied with a grin, walking out of the elevator. Liz sighed and opened their hotel door for him, letting him in first, “now, I want you to put that plum cocktail dress on, I’m taking you out for dinner, then we’re going dancing at a local night club.”
“Please tell me we aren’t going to an Italian restaurant…I’m sorry babe but Italian for breakfast and lunch, and then dinner…it’s overdoing it just a little don’t you think?” Liz remarked, taking the dress from Max.
“It’s a surprise, but don’t’ worry, it’s not Italian,” Max replied, taking the black suit he purchased out of its bag. Liz gave him a look before walking off to the bathroom, returning a minute later, the dress on, along with a pair of plum kitten heels.
Max looked at her through the mirror where he was buttoning up his shirt, about to put on his silk tie and grinned.
“Let me do that babe,” Liz offered, coming up behind Max and expertly tying his tie. She pulled it snug and straightened it out for him.
“Thank you sugar,” Max said graciously, leaning back and kissing her, “you look gorgeous by the way.”
“Enough comments, I want to eat!” Liz giggled, pulling Max out of the door.

Later that night Max and Liz lay in their bed, arms wrapped around one another’s naked body.
“Liz?” Max whispered to her.
“Hmm?” she mumbled in reply, kissing his chest before snuggling closer to him.
“Laura…my cousin…she is a lab technician…I’m sorry sugar but I heard you schedule an appointment with the gynecologist and I asked her to take the blood samples the hospital had on record…”Max confessed, figuring better now that later. Liz’s body stiffened in his arms, “I’m sorry…I was curious…and this concerns me too…the good news is, she called me back tonight while we were at the club…you’re having our child!”
Liz gasped and before she could stop herself broke out in a fit of sobs.
“Do…do you not want the baby? It’s completely your choice…I’ll be supportive no matter what,” Max said quickly, desperate to make her stop crying.
“Max no…I’m so HAPPY!” Liz sobbed, bringing her head up and kissing Max long and hard.
“That being said Liz…will you marry me? Be mine forever? I know we haven’t had the best relationship, or the longest for the matter, but I know I love you more than life itself, and I want to give you and out baby everything in the world,” Max declared, rolling over on his side to look Liz in the eyes.
She stared at him, eyes wide and watering and lower lip trembling, “I’d be honored,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around Max’s chest and letting a laugh out when he whooped in joy.
“I love you Liz Parker,” he cooed before pulling down the covers and lowering himself to her stomach, “and I love you too baby.”
Liz laughed and stroked Max’s mane of dark brown hair.
“Max…can we keep this a secret? Our engagement and the baby? Just until this thing with Tess is resolved,” Liz whispered.
“Yeah I think that’s better,” Max agreed, “now you need to get sleep, rest is essential for you.” Liz smiled and kissed Max before rolling over and snuggling with Max.

“Zan, Zan! Pay attention!” Tess exclaimed. She, Zan, and Kyle all were sitting in the living room of her house, discussing what to do next.
Zan looked back at Tess and smiled sheepishly. On the inside though, he was repulsed. Tess was planning on harming Liz in the worst way possible besides death, making her lose Max.
The worst part was, she wanted Zan to be the reason they broke up. Even though he was still angry and heartbroken, Liz was still his first true love.
“I can’t do this Tess…I’m sorry, it’s just wrong,” Zan muttered, staring at a discolored spot in the carpet.
“Zan! You HAVE to! Baby…please?” Tess cooed, giving her best sad face. She could almost feel Zan melt in her presence, too bad it was all an act, Zan was after all, an actor.
“So where do I come in on this?” Kyle perked up.
“You are just here to look sexy,” Tess purred, ruffling his light brown hair a bit. This made Zan even more repulsed. She supposedly loved him, they’d had sex for god’s sake, he actually surprised himself at how eagerly he had jumped in the sack with her, and now she was all over Kyle. Most men would be enraged by this, but at this point, Zan didn’t care one way or another.
“They are on some trip or whatever, and they get back tomorrow,” Tess said, looking at a piece of paper, “I want you to go over there right after Max leaves Zan.”
“He’s leaving?” Kyle asked.
“Yeah, he has to talk to UCLA about his transfer and he needs to get all of his stuff, he’ll only be gone for a day and a half though,” Tess replied.
Zan rolled his eyes and stood up, he had to get out of there before he got sick.
“Bye,” he called, walking to the door.
“DON'T screw up,” Tess hissed before smiling again and blowing him a kiss.
*********
Liz walked off the plane, her face glowing and looking like a whole new person. Max walked close in front of her, watching Liz over his shoulder to make sure she didn’t trip.
“Welcome home, Mrs. Evans,” he said, smiling at his wife. They decided to get married 3 days ago, a week after their engagement.
Max’s wedding vows still rung fresh in Liz’s head, bringing tears to her eyes every time she thought about them.
You walked lightly into my life
Captivating and lovely to my mind,
At first, I never cared who you were
Now I don’t know who I am without you,
You kissed me
I felt my world change,
You held me
I heard my heart awaken,
You loved me
And my soul was born anew
You walked lightly into my life
Now my heart knows who you are
And with every breath
And every step
I take down lonely roads,
Your hand is my staff
Your voice is my guide
Your strength my shelter
You’re passion my awakening.
You walked lightly into my life,
And all my pain
You took as your own,
And all my fears
You cast into the sea,
All my doubt
Lost in your eyes,
You walked lightly into my life
And no matter if you choose to stay or go,
My life is forever changed,
Just because you loved me
For a moment in time.
And because I choose
To love you
For the rest of mine.
Just thinking that Max wrote that for her touched her heart. She gave him personal vows as well, but not nearly as touching as his. After they had exchanged vows she slipped his solid gold band on his finger, and he slipped her ring on her finger. It was gorgeous, white gold with a large princess cut diamond in the center.
They left the small chapel man and wife, but they knew they were meant to be together far before that. Somehow, they had known it all along.
“It won’t truly be home until you come back from California. I hate that we still have to live in separate apartments, and I can’t believe they couldn’t’ find any evidence to put Tess, Kyle, or Zan away for breaking in my apartment,” Liz pouted, taking her now bulky luggage. Max bought her a complete new wardrobe among other things.
The day after their engagement Jim Valenti called and told them that they couldn’t prosecute anyone for the break in, but her insurance covered everything that was destroyed, and in apology Jim had gotten a bunch of people together and they fixed her apartment, also adding state of the art security systems.
The dress and glasses could never be replaced, and Liz was still down about this, but after thinking about, decided it was the memory, not the valuables, that she held her mother and grandmother by.
“Wait here gorgeous,” Max said, carrying the luggage to their separate apartments before going back to the car and picking a surprised Liz up, carrying her over the threshold of her apartment, and after that his.
“Max I have to go out for a while, I’m going to the mall,” Liz said, a plan for their belated wedding night forming in her head. They hadn’t been able to celebrate it the proper way because Liz was slightly nauseas, and her ribs were bugging her that day, so they decided to delay it until they got back in Roswell, where they could celebrate it properly.
“Ok, be careful, I’ll unpack your stuff for you,” Max said, kissing her forehead. She turned around and yelped in surprise when Max slapped her ass. Laughing she left the building and drove to the mall, heading straight for Victoria’s Secret.
“Hello ma’am, welcome to Victoria’s Secret, can I help you find anything today?” a bubbly red head named Kirsten, as it said on her name tag, asked.
“Um, yeah actually…I just for married and…” Liz started, soon interrupted.
“Say no more, we’ll measure you, and find the perfect little negligee for you, I’m thinking crimson or black…very sexy,” Kirsten said with a knowing smile, ushering Liz into a dressing room and measuring her quickly, and then going out to find some stuff for her.
“Here you go, a crimson teddy, very nice, just came in, and here is a little black number,” she said, hading Liz two outfits, “I’ll be back to check with you in just a minute.”
“Thank you,” Liz replied, undressing and slipping the black negligee on once the door was shut. It looked very sexy. A black thong and matching barely there lacy bra, with a garter belt, garters, and a sheer tight length black robe to go over.
She then tried on the crimson teddy. It was also very sexy, but Liz liked the black one better. That paired with some 4 inch black kitten heels, dark makeup, and some touch ups to her hair would make Max go wild with desire.
She rubbed her belly tenderly,” Your daddy is going to make your mommy very very happy tonight,” she giggled.
“I think I’ll go with the black one,” Liz announced, emerging from the dressing room after redressing.
“Good choice, is there anything else that you needed?” Kirsten asked, taking it from her.
“Yeah actually, some black 4 inch kitten heels if you have any,” Liz replied. Kirsten smiled and came back a minute later with her size of the shoes and a glass bottle.
“It’s called “You know you love me” one of our newer scents, but I strongly recommend it, care to try?” she tempted, handing Liz the heart shaped glass bottle.
Liz sprayed some on her wrist and sniffed if, liking very much what she smelled.
Half an hour later Liz walked triumphantly out of the mall, her black negligee, kitten heels, perfume, and some silk scarves she had purchased to kink it up a bit, in her Victoria’s Secret bag.
This was going to be a night to remember for sure.
