Disclaimer: I own nothing from Roswell; I just make a measly attempt to write stories about it.
Author’s Note: I’m sorry for my long absences without chapters…I’m really bad about writing when I should. Just a warning, I’m reeeeeally sorry if I’ve mixed up the order of their classes throughout this story, I’m bad with that, lol. Hope you like this chapter.
Chapter 12
The next morning Max woke up and blinked his eyes in confusion…this wasn’t his room. He looked around and then looked down at what lay curled in his embrace and memories from last night flooded his mind and he smiled.
He thought his heart would burst his heart was so full right now. Everything may not be 100% perfect right now, but as long as he had Liz by his side and she was willing to go along with the plan, he was sure they could make it all right.
The sound of the door knob turning brought his attention back to Earth and he closed his eyes quickly, though he knew he should probably hide.
He heard the gasp and then all of a sudden he was being hoisted up off his feet and being slammed into the wall by Liz’s suddenly super strong father.
“What the fuck are you doing in my daughter’s bed??” he roared, holding him up by his collars against the wall. Max heard Liz shriek and jump out of bed, rushing over to her father’s side.
“Dad! Dad get off of him!” Liz exclaimed, trying to pull her father off of Max, “Dad NOTHING happened! I was upset and, and I asked him to stay with me, he was only trying to help! I swear nothing happened!!!”
Jeff glanced over at Liz’s panicked expression for a second and released Max not too gently. He glared at him before turning and grabbing Liz’s arm, leading her out of the bedroom and into the hallway. As he led her out she mouthed to him “It’ll be all right” and smiled before Jeff slammed the door shut.
“Liz what has been going through you lately? First you get detention for being in the…the Eraser Room with that boy, and now I find him in your bed when I come to wake you up???” Jeff hissed, trying his best to keep his voice down but failing miserably.
“Dad! I told you, I was upset last night so I called Max and he helped me, and I asked him to stay the night to help keep me calm, we’re barely friends dad, nothing happened!” Liz explained. She hated lying to her parents but she knew she had to.
“Fine I believe you, but I don’t want it to happen again, ok? Next time send him home or get him a sleeping bag, though I would prefer the first. I love you Lizzie I just want to keep you safe,” Jeff replied, his voice softening towards the end.
The corners of Liz’s mouth lifted a bit and she leaned in, hugging him tightly. It was odd that no matter how bad a fight they got in, she always ended up forgiving him. She was such a daddy’s girl.
“Go get ready…in the bathroom…with the door locked, Maria called to say she’d be here in half an hour,” Jeff said. Liz laughed and walked back into her bedroom to find Max sitting on the edge of the bed.
“I’m sorry Liz, I shouldn’t have made you lie like that,” Max apologized, standing up.
“Max it’s all right, it was better, if you told the truth, we’d both be dead, or if not dead, then we’d be at risk…my dad could let it slip that we were dating again at any time,” Liz said quietly, walking up to him and placing a gentle hand on his warm cheek, “Now, I have to get ready, I’ll see you at school.”
She leaned up and lightly kissed him and then walked over to her dresser, taking out clothes and going into the bathroom.
Max smiled and ran a hand through his hair, checking himself in the mirror and deciding he needed to go to his house for a quick change of clothes.
Grabbing his wallet, which he had taken out of his pocket last night, he climbed out onto her balcony and swiftly made his way down the ladder and to his jeep waiting in the alleyway, driving off swiftly.

Liz ran a comb through her hair and quickly applied makeup after putting on her medium length jean skirt and blue tank top, slipping on some black flip flops to finish it off.
This close to the end of the year, they really didn’t care if you didn’t exactly follow the dress code. As a last thought she grabbed a ponytail holder and put her hair in a low ponytail.
She daubed on a last bit of lip gloss and then walked quickly out of her room, grabbing her backpack, when Maria came in. She didn’t bother knocking, she never did.
“Liz….are you all right?” she asked slowly, taking in her made up appearance. Liz wasn’t one to usually dress up, unless there was a special occasion, “Are you wearing mascara?”
“Maria….yes, I’m wearing makeup, can’t I wear makeup, I mean I have a boyfriend now and everything perfectly fine between us I’m sooooo not wearing makeup to impress Max at any rate and…” Maria clapped a hand over Liz mouth until she closed her mouth.
“First of all…obviously everything’s not all right with you and Aaron if you bring Max up 2 seconds later, its not like to keep secrets….at least from me….especially from me, so, what’s up, we have a few minutes,” Maria said, grabbing Liz’s hands and leading her to her bed.
Liz opened her mouth and shut it again glancing at the clock. “Maria we’re going to be late…I’ll tell you after school, I promise!” Liz said, squeezing her hands before hopping out and practically running out of the room before Maria could protest.
She slipped herself in the compact Jetta and waited for Maria to come out, which she did a second later. She had that pissed look on her face, the one she tried to cover, but couldn’t do.
She started the ignition and they took off towards the school. The whole time Liz noticed this expression on Maria’s face and finally she sighed in defeat.
“Maria….just say it, I know you’re holding something in there,” Liz sighed.
“Liz why can’t you just TELL ME!! I’m your best friend I should be the first person you go to, to tell anything after something happens and you can’t even tell me, it seems like you can’t tell me anything anymore Liz and it hurts you know?” Maria said all in one breath, parking in her usual spot by the school.
Liz rested her forehead against her backpack which was in her lap. How did she know that was what Maria was going to say.
“I can’t tell you all of it right now Ria…all I can tell you is that I’ve made up my mind…I’m going on with the plan and me and Max are back together, don’t ask me anything else, I’ll tell you the rest later,” Liz said quietly.
“Hey, thanks for telling me,” Maria said quietly. They sat in silence for a minute until Liz glanced outside and saw all the kids swarming inside the building as the bell rang. She lightly bit her bottom lip and glanced over at Maria.
“I guess we should get going,” she said, laughing softly. Maria nodded and pulled her keys out, following Liz into the building, “I’ll catch you later Ria.” She hugged her and headed off to her first block.
The second she walked in her eyes flew to Max, but she immediately diverted them and looked over to Aaron. He looked so handsome today, wearing a green polo shirt and khaki cargo shorts.
He smiled when she sat down next to him and leaned in, kissing her cheek. She felt them flush red just a little bit from embarrassment and shame. She couldn’t believe she was using him like this.
The teacher walked into the classroom and Liz faced the front, focusing her whole attention on the teacher. She began drawing swirls on her paper but slowly they began to turn into little hearts with arrows going through them.
“Ms. Parker! Earth to Ms. Parker!” Mrs. Yardley barked. Liz’s head jerked up and she blushed, “Bring that up here so I can see what has distracted you from my lesson here.”
Liz bit her lip nervously but got and slowly handed her the notebook which she snatched away quickly. She frowned at it, turning it around as if trying to find something hidden that would occupy Liz’s brain more so than little hearts with arrows going through them. Luckily the teacher caught Liz before she could put any names on there.
Mrs. Yardley rolled her eyes and tore the page out of Liz’s notebook, crumbling it in her hands and throwing it in the wastebasket.
“Ms. Parker I don’t know what’s been going on with you lately…but it has to stop, you’re a spectacular student and I don’t want to see that change, now get back to your seat and pay attention!” Mrs. Yardley said quietly to Liz. She nodded and walked back to her seat with her head down.
She HATED being embarrassed publicly, it was almost worse than failing. For the rest of class she made sure that she paid excruciating detail to the teacher and when the bell ran she practically ran out of the classroom.
She walked straight into the bathroom and looked at herself and started to chuckle. She looked like a wreck. She had no clue why she was laughing about this, but she was.
When she walked out of the bathroom she felt a hand grab her arm and she looked over at Max. He took her upstairs to the unused Eraser Room and quickly locked the door.
“You ok?” he whispered after kissing her passionately.
“I’ll live,” she whispered in reply, wrapping her hands around his neck and kissing his neck, then his jaw and working her way up to his lips. Max groaned and kissed her fiercely, backing her up against the far wall.
She jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist, her back still against the wall as she kissed him, making up for the time lost.
The late bell interrupted their actions and Max glanced towards the door, “We should get going, Mr. Seligman is going to have our heads. Are you still going to stay partnered with Alex or are you going to come back with me?” Max asked, a small smile on his face.
“I’ll talk to the teacher,” she whispered, kissing him and getting down, grabbing his hand and quickly leaving the eraser room. Their hands separated once they reached the crowd of kids but they still smiled at each other as they walked into the class.
