~Clark~
“Intimidating?” she says before giving a slight . Humph… I don’t think she’ll be ing later. “Trust me, you aren’t intimidating. It’s just a natural thing for us. Welcome to West Roswell High, Clark. What classes do you have the rest of the day?”
“Uhm…” I mutter as I get out my schedule. “History, Mathematics and P.E,” I tell her. I screw up my face slightly in a grimace.
“Which will mean that I have to either go a class without talking to anyone or talk to someone else I don’t know. Well unless that Kyle Valenti guys there. He seems nice.”
I need to get her attention in someway. Its clear there’s some sort of rift between my love and his friends and Kyle. And I want to find out why. But I also want her to start to realise on her own that I’m meant for her brother. That we belong together. It’s how we’re meant to be.
But how…
~~~JP BEGINS~~~
"Valenti?" Isabel questions and forces herself not to tense up. "Nice isn't exactly the word I'd use for Kyle Valenti. He's popular, good at sports, but he's never really been all that bright, nor has he ever been all that nice to me or my friends, other then Liz when they dated." Isabel shakes her head looking at him like he had to be insane.
"Let me see your schedule, see if we have the same teacher for History and I'll see if Max has the same Math teacher. P.E. would be Alex I believe. I can introduce you to them and I promise, Max will be better behaved." Isabel adds with a grin as she decides using the schedule to change the subject would be a good idea.
How well behaved? Clark thinks to himself cheekily. He gives her a smile. "That will be great, thanks." So Max stole Kyle's girlfriend then Clark took it? "Well, Kyle seemed nice enough to me... at least I got to sit next to someone at lunch." Clark shrugs,
Lets see how many more buttons I can press...while trying to lay on a slight guilt trip. He hands his schedule over to her. He'd memorized the entire thing of course, he only had to speed read it through a few times. Was easy enough to do. He smile at her saying, "So where is it that people hang out in this town?"
Isabel barely holds back the urge to cringe at the comment about lunch as she looks over the schedule, "You're in luck." She looks at him and hands the schedule back before responding to his question about hang out places in town.
"There are some who enjoy bowling, mini-golf, the movies and such, but the Crashdown is one of the more known places where most hang out." I don't know what possesses me, but as I look at him I can't stop myself from offering, "Why don't you join me at the Crash after school?" What am I doing? I end up asking myself after I've already extended the offer.
Clark had to try and not look as happy as he felt. She had asked him. His plan was working, and soon he would have his man. He smiles at Isabel. "Wow...that would be great. Thanks" he says smiling. He takes back his timetable, and sure enough shes changed the maths class. She may be good, but shes not as good as me.
But hey, if she wants to arrange it so I share a class with Max...I am DEFINITELY not going to complain! he tells himself.
Okay, so maybe Isabel shouldn't have changed things, but Max had been feeling guilty and it would give him the chance to smooth things over. Besides, something made her want to make things easier on Clark. She didn't understand it, but she kind of felt as though she had to do something, especially something that would keep Clark from becoming buddy buddy with Kyle. The last thing they needed was
for Kyle to add another enemy to the list for them.
With a smile, she shrugged slightly, "It's no problem. It'll give you the chance to see what this town is really like first hand. And the Crash is a good place to hang out and get to know people." She explained and took the moment to glance back at her brother, hoping he wouldn't end up angry with her but also curious about how things were going with the new girl. After a moment, she turned back to Clark, "So, why do you travel so much?" She asked curiously, wanting to learn more about him and realizing that by doing so, she might well find out why she also felt slightly unnerved about things.
Clark quickly tries to remember what he told Kyle. "My dad," he gives a small sigh. "He's with the army. He goes where ever he's needed. And currently that would be Roswell!" He says with a smile, "It’s not as impressive as it sounds though... he's currently converting there old bomb shelters." Clark gives a smile before saying, "Which is why this seems like the billionth school to me." Clark smiles at her and says, "Plus I guess my dad and I are looking for something to stay for."
Or should I say someone.
"Must be hard moving all the time though." Isabel comments and wonders why she is even talking as much as she is. That's not a normal way for her to react especially to someone that she didn't know. Some ice queen she was turning out to be.
Clark shrugs and says, "Yeah, but... I think on day, my dad and I will find what we've been looking for our entire lives. And things won't be the same again." He smiles at her and leans in very slightly, "I believe in destiny. And one day, I will find it and it will be great. What about you Isabel... do you believe in destiny?"
Isabel shrugged, "Honestly, I don't know what to think about it. I'd like to think we are in control of our own destinies, but then there are things that make me wonder." Sighing she shook her head and looked down at the table, "I'd prefer not to think about it."
Clark gave a considering look. "Seems reasonable to me... but I think you should think about it. I mean, what is life but a quest of self discovery." Clark gives a little shrug, "But don't take my advice. Besides, if it were necessary for you to think about it.... there would be signs all around you."
Signs all around? Why did he have to say that? It caused me to think back to the sandwich that Max had at lunch and what we saw happen to it. It caused me to wonder yet again what was going on. "Maybe, I know I'm destined to die some day, that I have no control over. I would hope that there wouldn't be something set in stone that I'm destined to do, because where would the fun really be in learning to really live? To really experience what life has to offer. If you have a destiny and that is all you focus on, you could miss something wonderful that could be right before you." She ends up stating, not even sure why as she finds herself glancing back, this time seeing Alex out of the corner of her eye and looking for a moment before turning back around again.
Clark sees her look away for a split second and quick as a flash makes the four square symbol in front of her out of pencil sharpeners. He smiles at her when she looks back at him and says, "Maybe... or maybe your destiny is perfect and what is right for you." Clark states. He shrugs, "Maybe you’re right... but for me, I know my destiny is out there. And maybe deep down... you know it too." Clark gives a playful smile as he turns to his book.
As she glances back at him, Isabel listens and doesn't even know how to respond as she turns to look at her books, however what she sees stops her dead and she quickly moves the sharpeners out of the design they were in. This was getting to be far too odd. She felt her hand shaking and drew in a deep breath, trying to calm herself even as she looked over to Max, concern heavy in her gaze.
What should she say and do? She felt as though if she stayed there much longer, she was going to have a fit, so she stood and got the instructors attention, "I need a restroom pass..." The teacher simply nodded and quickly wrote one out. As she was stepping away from Clark, she looked at him, "I'm sorry... I'll be right back."
Clark looks up, wondering if he had pushed too far. "Oh, okay... hope its nothing I did" he says, partly joking, but also putting on a slight display of worriedness.
If Im going to be a new kid, I might as well play the nervous, worried new kid
Isabel shook her head, "No... It’s nothing..." She wasn't about to say that she had no idea who had done anything. As she left the class room, she instantly made her way to the nearest restroom and headed inside, staring at herself in the mirror. She was pale. She couldn't believe she'd actually gone pale.
Clark watched her leave the room and tried not to smile. He turned back to his books, pretending to pay attention, but really trying to plan what to do next. He needed to come up with a new way to get them to figure out there destiny. He has a sudden thought and uses his X-ray powers to see through the walls to where Isabel is. She's having a major freak out. Clark looks back round and smiles to himself as he has an idea. Carefully, he tears out a page from his book and uses his powers to manipulate it into a photograph. It showed Michael and Isabel, hugging and kissing. Quick as flash he puts the photo in her book and turns back to class.
Isabel took in some deep breaths and attempted to get control of herself before she made her way back to the class, once inside she sat down and opened her book to where they were supposed to be, not certain what to say to Clark. When she reached the page, she saw the picture in front of her and her eyes widened, quickly grabbing the picture and hiding it. What the hell was going on? This was beginning to be too much. She was going to have to talk to Michael and Max about this as soon as possible.
Looking over at Clark, she forced a smile, "Sorry about that, I just needed some air." Then focusing on the book, she said, "This is where we are... have you gone through this at any of your other schools?" She could hear the catch in her voice and the nervousness.
Clark gave a small smile, and said "Yeah I...have..." he gives her a concerned look. "Are you ok? You don't look well..." he says carefully. "I might have some paracetamol if you want it?" he said with a faint, friendly smile.
“No, I’ll be fine.” Isabel replies, looking at Clark and trying her best to calm down. Isabel had never been one to react like this and she hated it. She drew in a deep breath and forced herself to try to focus on class. She had to make herself focus. This wasn’t something she could do anything about right now and she really needed to talk to Max and Michael. This could only mean one thing. The other alien, the one she and Michael had left the signal for at the library, was actually there. It had to mean that. It must definitely mean that Nacedo is there.
Oh God, what if it were true... could Nacedo be the boy beside her or the girl beside Max? According to River Dog, Nacedo was a shapeshifter...
