Isabel
Standing in the shower I think of Alex Whitman and how optimistic he seems about everyone and everything.How can he be like that I wonder?He sounded so hopeful while talking about our species learning from each other.Like that will ever happen even if a few Antarians marry Humans after their King,my brother,sets an example.
Twenty minutes later,dressed in cranberry coloured pants and a crisp white blouse I make my way downstairs and head in to the living room only to find Alex,asleep on the couch,his head resting back on the head rest.He looks so peaceful even in his sleep.Lucky man!
I tip-toe out of the room,deciding not to awaken him and head in to the kitchen,"Let him sleep Hannah,he mentioned getting straight off a flight from Europe and coming here.Max should be back soon,I'll wake him then."

I sit up suddenly, woken from a dream and immediately groan. The position I was in was no good for my neck and now I have quite a crank. "Oh great, I'm getting old." I mutter to myself, slowly moving my head from side to side in an effort to ease the pain.
Looking around, I am momentary without any clue where I am but then I remember again. I hope Isabel didn't come down yet and spotted me being asleep. She'd only think us humans are weaklings. Maybe she's slightly bitter about life because she lost so much so young. It would at least be an explanation.
Looking at my watch, I realize that I promised to leave in about five minutes. Oh well.
Getting up (my neck is still not perfectly fine), I hear voices from the hall.

I smile slightly at that for reasons I don't really understand, after all, Isabel's only being polite.
"I'm already awake, sorry for just falling asleep, I know that's rude."

I twirl around when I hear his voice,"Oh you're awake,you looked so tired so I decided to let you rest."
I walk out of the kitchen motioning for him to follow me and head in to the living room again and sit down on one end of the sofa."How do you know Doctor Parker?" I ask him after he's sat down

Trying to massage my own neck, I smile at the question, thinking back to the 'good old days'.
"I've met Liz and Maria - another good friend of mine - in college. We were leaving in the same building and one day, when my door wouldn't open for some reason I still don't really understand, I knocked on their door, asking if I could make a call. We got talking and were friends since then, trying to stay in contact as much as possible."
I briefly think of my father's sickness and how desperate Liz was to help him but ultimately couldn't. Shaking off those memories, I smile at Isabel again.
"It was actually Maria who gave me the call about Liz and your brother. She's as worried as you are about the marriage, I think you two would get along fabously."
Scratching my left eyebrow, I can't help and ask, "Uh, do you know how Liz and your brother met? Or when they decided to just give marriage a go?"

I then realise what I had seen from Liz and decide to change the subject, "So I'm guessing the guy I saw was Sean... you seem....content. He must be nice." I say trying to ignore the jealous feeling I'm getting.

Isabel has really long legs and ... why am I thinking about her legs? I must be more tired than I thought! With a slight shake of my head I ask, "Why? You think it's weird he didn't tell you much? Or that his way of picking his future wife is weird or is it the Antarian-Human thing again?"

"Well I think he has a strong sense of right and wrong.He isn't a bad guy really." I comment taking up for my brother "He hasn't had much time for himself all these years and he's had to be careful about the women he's been with.Most are attracted to his position.That's another reason why I was so surprised by this decision of his."

I think about it for a second because I was angry about so many things when Max told me about this idea of his. "Firstly,I didn't like his plan at all.I do not trust Humans! Secondly,I think meeting some woman you have never met and to see if she could be your wife is strange.You see Antarian couples bond and that bond is only broken if one partner betrays the other either mentally,physically or emotionally.It's not something to be taken lightly."
