~James~

Amy coughs but sits up as she replies, "Yeah, Im fine...are you ok?"

I nod, catching my breath. "I'm fine."

She reaches out her hand and places it on my arm lightly and suddenly I'm seeing something strange.

Lily sitting in a room with her.
The Evans sitting around a table for a meal.
Oliver sitting in the Crashdown
Oliver when we were all at grandad's for a barbecue.
Oliver sitting at lunch alone.

"Ja...James?"

"What?" I look at her, surprised by what happened even as I find myself standing and holding out a hand. "Come on, we need to find the others so they don't freak out on us or worry..." I don't think I'm ready to talk about what that could have been. Our parents are probably having a cow by now. Dad had seen us, so if we didn't arrive soon, he'd assume the worst. Oliver had trusted me to get her out safely, so I knew he'd want to kill me if he was left to worry too much longer.

"There... he's there." Sabrina opens her eyes and looks to me."Hurry. Help him!" She suddenly gasps and stumbles back. I catch her in my arms and hold her close.

"Michael...do it." I say and wait for him to blast a hole but since I've got my hands full with Sabrina, Michael will have to go in.

I look down at my niece. She suddenly seemed so fragile and small to me. Like she was a small child again. All I wanted to do was sooth and protect her. She looked up at me and I give her a gentle smile. I smooth her hair from her face. Despite how fragile she looks I can feel her untrained strength in her. In fact, I'd felt the same in all the kids I'd scanned.

I also think it's interesting that she's an empath like Kyle. I wonder if she's inherited any of Isabel's gifts also. But that will come about later.

I move closer to mom, letting her pull me into a stiff hug, as she tells us how she was planning on surprising dad, me and christina. Well, it would have been nice to hear from her occasionally too. "Yeah mom, we're both fine. Except for Uncle Kyle, but dad's helping them get him out," I say, smiling assuringly as I let out another cough.

I think the smoke's getting to me, since I hardly had time to breath while we were in there. Mom doesn't need to know about that though. I mean, the whole me climbing on a collapsing stage thing; though I'm sure one of them'll spill it and mom'll freak out about her 'baby' almost getting hurt, but then turn around and call me a sort of hero for saving Sabrina. Not like it was all me or anything. I mean Erik did that freaky thing where he held it together.

I have no idea what on earth he did, but I'm sure it wasn't anything natural.

Michael

Once Sabrina's located Kyle, Max turns to me, holding her in his arms carefully. "Michael...do it."

I comply, holding my hand up and blasting a large hole in the side of the building. The whole places rumbles, threatening to fall down, but I barge on in anyways, holding my shirt over my nose and mouth so that I can breath properly. The fire is still blazing, and it's hard to see through the thick black smoke, so I push through, trying to look or feel for him.

Briefly my eyes spot a dark form and I kneel down near it, shouting. "Kyle, is that you!" I notice movement, so I grab his arm and pull. "Come on Kyle, let's get out!" I gasp, trying to see through the flames to where there is cool, clean air.

I hear more rumbling and start tugging frantically, trying to lift him up. The building is so old that it could collapse if we aren't careful, and I don't want to be in here when it does.

ooc: I'm blanking out here... who was Liz with? I know she was with a group of kids, I just can't remember which ones. Tell me if I got all of this right. :D

Laura

"You're welcome. Now that you are safe and with someone that obviously cares for you, I need to get back in there and get my sister." He said, and quickly turned his back and started walking away.

"No, wait, I..." I started, and then shook my head. Why was I calling him back? I had no idea as to who he was; he had saved my life, and now he had to go help a person he cared about. His sister was in there, and she was probably the one he'd been talking to. I was probably just another helpless girl to him, one he couldn't have left behind. I shook my head again and turned back to Liz.

"So, is everyone all right here? Has everyone made it out ok?" I asked. Aunt Liz started to answer, but a loud voice interrupted her.

"Laura!" Oliver yelled, and I turned to see him standing behind me. "Are you ok? I was so worried about you." He said, and I felt my eyes well up with tears. I ran over to him and gave him a hug.

"I'm ok now. I'm glad you got out, big brother," I whispered, suddenly feeling a lot more loving toward him than I had before. A life or death experience did that to you, I supposed.

Michael blasts a perfect size hole in the wall and rushes in. With Sabrina still firmly to my side I draw closer. The sound of timber falling elsewhere and other beams creaking has me wanting to rush in also but I wait having confidence that Michael will find Kyle.

I hear Michael shout out to Kyle as the rumble of the timbers get louder. Any minute the support beams will fall. Going up next to the building I try to look in but the smoke has my view of Michael and Kyle blocked.

Throwing my hand up, I produce my shield so it is holding up the ceiling. It's green glow mixes with the orange and yellow flames giving the entire area an eerie glow.

"Michael!" I shout feeling the weight of the ceiling on the shield. I'm trying to reserve energy to heal Kyle and whoever else may need it so it's not as strong as it would normally be. "I can't hold it much longer."

I risk a glance at Sabrina and see her eyes wide at what I've done, and she hasn't even seen my strongest ability...yet.

"Come on...a little longer..." I growl turning my attention back to the shield.

The room seems to explode along with the wall as Michael breaks through. Small pieces of concrete fly at me and the flames surge bigger as a rush of oxygen hits them.

I hear Michael call for me but I can't answer as I feel my throat burning. I'm having a hard time breathing too, coughing with every breath I take. My lungs are tight and feel as if they are about to explode.

Then I feel a tugging at my arms. I try helping Michael, try standing for him but darkness clouds my mind and threatens to overtake me with the lack of oxygen.

Finally he's able to haul my body up on his shoulder and I hang like a limp doll. Closing my eyes I hear the building literally falling apart, expecting beams to fall on us at any moment.

A rush of cool air brushes my skin as I'm carried out of the building but I barely notice. I'm struggling to keep conscious knowing that Max is just outside, waiting, ready. I feel him as much as I feel the darkness luring me to it's path.

Finally Michael carries Kyle out but it doesn't look good. Taking several steps back, I release my shield and the ceiling collapses.

"Cutting it close Michael." I mumble letting go of Sabrina so I can kneel beside Kyle. Tearing open his shirt, I place one hand on his chest and the other on his forehead.

"Kyle..." I call to him. His eyes are half closed and dazed. He's gasping for air and body trembling. "Kyle...Look at me." I command.

He manages to turn his head and our connection built long ago flares to life. Smoke filled his lungs as well as the heat burning his air passages. There was a lot of damage but I carefully repaired every cell I could. I was feeling the strain this kind of healing always put on me but I pushed past it, making sure I found every damaged area.

Gasping and sitting back I release myself from his body. The connection though broken physically still flows within me. It will take a day or two to dim back down to what it was.

I look at Michael, my own breathing now hard. "He'll be fine."
