"Well, sure," I say with a huge smile. I get in the little car and lean back, once again wishing I could put my feet up on the dash, but it's too close. "I'm putting out brilliant work. Unfortunately, the staff still has some pretty rigid attitudes and they don't seem to fully appreciate it." I shrug. My stuff is great, I know it. I don't understand why they always want changes... "You should come by and see it some time."
"So it looks like we got two hours to kill. Whatcha wanna do while we wait for party time? We could hit a bar," I suggest. Afterall, two hours is a long time to wait for food and drink after a full day of work...

"Sorry Max, I didn'T want to offend your girlfriend." Kyle apologizes (needlessly I might add), to Max, and then turns to me, "I only meant that teasingly. I hope I didn't hurt or offend you."
I turn in my seat to face Max and put my right hand out to touch his arm to try and calm him down, because for some reason he thinks that Kyle is dissing me or somethin’ which is odd because I can tell he’s only joking. I mean, come on, one of the biggest jokes about us women is our tendency to take our sweet time getting ready to go out for things.
“It’s okay Max, he’s just joking.” I turn to face Kyle. “No worries Kyle, you’re absolutely right, except I think I might just make it in an hour and a half because I already washed my hair today, you see, so that takes like a half-hour off my estimated grooming time,” I finish with a small laugh.
Kyle laughs too and says, “Oh good, we wouldn’t want you to have to do it now because then I’m sure a blow dryer would later have to be involved, and I know from watching my mom blow dry her hair as a kid that it takes for-e-ver.”
“Exactly. Except I usually only use one when I want to straighten out my hair, but I figured I’d just let it go curly anyway so I wouldn’t have to fight the humidity down here.” I reply as I absently curl a few tendrils around one finger.
Kyle looks as if he’s going to say something else to me, but apparently decides against it and instead asks Max, “Did Isabel tell anyone what present she got for Liz?”
Okay sorry, I know that doesn't move the story along any, but I wanted to make sure Kyle knew that Tess wasn't offended by his joke at all, and instead elaborates on it.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ Liz ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Izzy says she’s feeling left out, and I don’t know if it’s just because she isn’t getting as much attention as she normally does, or she just wants more of Alex’s attention. How centralized is this want and need for attention. Just any attention or just Alex’s? If she wants more of Alex’s attention, we are definitely on a very good road. Can she see how great it would be for each of them if they were together? They always make me laugh when I’m with them. They just seem to . . . spark around each other. Especially with the way they joke with each other.
“I mean, I’m probably saving all our lives here, while rubbing Liz’s shoulders.”
“Thank you,” I say, not quite sure which I’m thanking him for.
“For the shoulder rub, or saving our lives?” he asks.
“For the shoulder rub. It’s a nice birthday present,” I say as I turn to look back and smile at him. “I think that Izzy could drive while you rub her shoulders.” If she can’t, I think it’s a nice indicator of how Alex makes her feel. “And I am good at sharing. So, Izzy, you want a shoulder rub? Willing to prove Alex wrong?”

This part is really short since I wasn't sure what to write and I really should be revising. I've got my last exam tomorrow so after that I should be able to post more.
Isabel
I shake my head, suddenly a back rub from Alex doesn’t sound like the greatest or the safest idea in the world. I can almost feel future wrinkles develop as I frown. I don’t know why it isn’t a good idea, there’s just this feeling in my gut that I can’t ignore. “Its your birthday, Liz. You should be enjoying the attention and all the perks that comes with it.”

I'll try to post a Kyle part later
ALEX
"Well, this way I don't have to move." I say after Isabel's reply. "But just for the record, you don't know what you are missing, Izzy." Then after a pause, "Aren't I right, Liz?"
"Of course." Liz replies with a giggle.
"Good girl." I tell her with a nod of my head, ignoring the look that passes between the two girls and which is clearly full of amusement.
It's only then that I realize that we are already two blocks away from *home* anyway, so there wouldn't have been time for a proper shoulder/back rub anyway. Oh well.
I have to try and get Isabel alone for a moment later anyway. that is, if there is nothing left to check with Max and I have the guts for it.
"Ah, home sweet home." I say when we pull up *our* driveway, not even meaning it that sarcastically.

okay, assuming that M/T/K are arriving after I/L/A
KYLE
Oh shit, we already arrived and I still have to ask something.
"Uh, I really don't want to appear like the stupid one in this house but ... how much does Liz know or suspect? Does she know that we are going out or that there is a party? I don't want to let anything slip."
"She surely will know that we will go out tonight." Max replies. "But I hope everything else will be a surprise."
"Good, then it is okay to mention going out later and driving arrangements?"

We get out of the car and head into the house. Kyle asks about how much Liz probably knows about tonight and Max says she likely knows we're going out, but hopefully not much more.
"Good, then it is okay to mention going out later and driving arrangements?"
"I don't see why not. You should probably ask Isabel or Alex, I bet they have that part of the festivitties planned." I say. "I'm going up to my room to change. Be down in an hour and a half or less," I say with a smile at Kyle as I pass the guys and head toward the stairs.

"Sounds great," I tell Tess as she goes off, promising to be done in an hour and a half. Of course, that's exactly when we have to leave if we're going to get to the restaurant on time. Of course, I noticed that Maria's Jetta and Isabel's car were already parked outside so I know all the girls are here.
"I guess I'll go change my shirt," I tell Kyle. That'll take me about three minutes. Well, okay, maybe 10 minutes since I'll wash my face and brush my teeth, too... "Maybe you and I can catch some TV or something when I get back down," I suggest before heading upstairs.
As I get to the top, my cell phone rings. I hurry towards my room as I check the number. Yes! It's Kels. I answer it as I step inside the room I share with Alex. I sit down on the bed while I talk.
She's here. That's great. She's lost. Not great. .... I pull a street map out of my endtable and get to work on trying to figure out where she is and where she needs to go...

I glance up as Alex comes in, although I'm trying to also pay attention to Kels. "Shut the door!" I hiss at him, covering the mouthpiece of the phone with my hand. Alex is the only one who knows about my surprise and I don't want to lose it now when we're so close.
"Right. Then you turn left at the light. Two blocks after that you should see the highway," I say to Kels, glad to have figured out where she is.
Alex shuts the door and then comes back to stand next to me again. "It's Kels," I whisper. "She's a little lost, but I think I got her nearly sorted."
