Hey all I've been busy trying to get new parts done but my muse seems to be taking a very long nap somewhere. I've called it on its cell, no answer. I've tried to email it, no reply. I just can't seem to find it.
Well, I have at least this part done, so no need to fret right now.
WHo knew that being an English major would take so much out of you? lol

Part 21

Lonnie struggled to keep up with Ava. They had been darting from behind the small houses until they finally found a more commercial area. Here there were many people buying, selling, and trading goods.
“We can blend in here.” Ava said as she straightened out her clothing. Lonnie shrugged and simply shook the dirt off her hair. They walked into the square unnoticed by the other people and proceeded to walk towards the fountain at the center. Local women gathered there sitting with their children and gossiping.

“In case you haven’t noticed we don’t look like the other gals there.” Lonnie mumbled to Ava. Ava simply shrugged and sat at an open space on the fountain.
“…Yes I heard that too. What a shame, having those people trapped in their own homes. I have a brother down there and he has a sick child. He couldn’t get out long enough to find a proper healer.” Ava listened to one of the women speaking.

“Oh yeah I heard about that too.” Ava jumped in. “I have my mate down there too. He got caught out after curfew and was taken. I don’t know where though” she added sadly.
“Oh you poor dears. Those brutes are horrible, just horrible. Where was he?” Asked the woman to her right.
“He was just a couple miles from here, several towns down that way,” she pointed out in front of them.

The women looked at each other and shook their heads grimly. “What?”
“Well dear if he was taken, the only place out there is The Red Tower.” The woman said the last part in a whisper.
“But that’s only where they put real criminals, not curfew breakers,” said another woman, bouncing her daughter on her knee.
“You know how strict they get down there. The curfew was serious, the Blue Guard was there looking for something. If your mate disobeyed the curfew with all that going on, he’ll be there.”

“Ok next time let’s try not to aim the ship toward a crop of trees.” Kyle groaned as they climbed off the ship. Serena and Isabel helped themselves out as Alex continued to mess with the electrical equipment.
“It was not my intention to crash, again.” Alex said. “There’s still something off with the guidance system.”

“At least it’s getting better.” Isabel said. She and Serena sat off to the side letting the men alone.
“I guess you can say that,” Serena replied. She watched as Kyle pulled off the control sheet again to readjust the wires inside. It was a particularly hot day and he was working without a shirt.
“So when are you just going to tell him you want him?” Isabel whispered in Serena’s ear.
“What?” Serena shook her head and crossed her arms. She didn’t think it was that obvious.
“Don’t try to play dumb with me. You want him.” Isabel tilted her head in Kyle’s direction.

Serena merely blushed and looked down at her feet. She did admit that she found Kyle very attractive, and the late night talks they shared just helped things along. Kyle was sweet and very protective.
“Fine, I do like him. Are you happy?”
“Not particularly.” Isabel grumbled. “Cause then you’ll both confess you want to fuck each other and I’ll still be severely sex deprived and I’ll be forced to live through your sex life.”
“Isabel!” Serena said shocked, but started to laugh uncontrollably.
“I’m serious.” Isabel giggled. “Anyways, he probably already knows you like him.”
“How?” Serena asked.
“He’s empathic.” She replied matter-of-factly.
“What does that mean?”
“He can feel what others are feeling.”
“Oh my god!”

Serena glanced over at Kyle who was now walking back into the ship. Why hadn’t he ever mentioned that?
“Yeah, Alex told me the other night. I figured you knew.” Isabel said.
“No, he never told me.” Serena said softly. In all their talks, not once had he ever said anything about being able to feel other people’s emotions.

~*~

“Oh my god, get off of her!” Eliza shouted as she came into their room. What she saw was David with his face in Tess’ neck and she was moaning, what she didn’t noticed was the fact that they were both very much nude.

“Eliza what the hell are you doing?” Tess yelled. David tried his best to shield her with his own body.
“He’s trying to kill you!” Eliza continued to shout as she picked up a pillow and hit David with it.
“Lay off will ya.” David groaned as the pillow hit him on the head.
“Get off of her!”

Chiron walked into the room to see Eliza plummeting David and Tess with a pillow and started laughing. “Why are you laughing? He’s trying to feed from her” Eliza said, out of breath.
“Babe, he’s not trying to feed from her. Take a step back and really take a look at what’s going on.” Chiron said calmly. Eliza could not believe that everyone was not seeing the seriousness of the situation. She took a deep breath and did was Chiron asked.

She nodded and looked at David and Tess in bed. David was on top of her, a sheet covering his lower half. Ok that was weird, he was trying to feed from Tess naked. And Tess was naked too, breathing heavily, hair tousled and…. “Oh god you were having sex!” She shouted when it all dawned on her.

“Duh, woman.” David groaned. He pulled the sheet higher cover himself and Tess.
“Oh god, sorry. Eww, sorry.” Eliza said as she backed up out of the room, followed by Chiron.
“That was something.” Tess said as the door closed. Her body started to shake as she laughed.
“Oh you think that was funny huh?” David grinned down at her, and attacked her lips.

~*~
Max stared up at the large stone building before them. It hardly looked like any prison he’d ever seen. Large green vines hugged the dark grey of the stones, it’s highest tower looked like it was piercing the sun.
“So they’re in there?” Maria asked with a hitch in her voice.

Max nodded and continued his inspection. It would be a challenge, but he had to do it.
“Any plans, duke?” Rath asked as he stepped forward to stand before his captain. The sun was hitting the back of his neck hard, but he didn’t want to appear weak by suggesting getting back into the shade.
“There has to be a way in,” Max said, mostly to himself. He closed his eyes trying to will a connection with Liz but found nothing. He could however feel small vibrations that he could identify as Michael and Zan.

“They’re in there, but I can’t reach Liz.”

~*~

“He caused this.” Whispered a voice in her head. “He’s the one who is causing you this pain.” She tried to struggle but through the pain she could feel that she was bound. “This is all his fault. You’re suffering because of him.”

The corners of his mouth raised in a grin as his goading appeared to be working. In this state of mind he could break her. Soon she would be his. “Max, he did this.” He continued to whisper into her ear.
“Max!” She screamed out in anguish and rage.
“That’s right, Max. He did this, you’re suffering because of him. Pain, anger, hate, Max!”
“Max!” she screamed again as another bout of crackling green electricity shot out from her fingertips.

“You can end this. You can stop this pain.” He shouted.
“How?” Liz groaned.
“Kill him.”

I know it's a short part and I'm apologize for it. But like I said, it's a little harder for me to actually sit down and write.

Hey all, sorry about late posting again, but i got caught up yesterday. I've been kicking my own ass to write more but i can't force it out. I don't want to write just anything, it wouldn't be fair. So I'm wracking my brain to get more done so i don't post late again

Part 22

Serena walked beside Kyle as they walked into the town square. Alex and Isabel had stayed behind in the ship and Kyle offered to head into town for food.
“You gonna tell me what’s bothering you?” Kyle asked Serena. He could feel her confusion, slight anger. Serena stopped walking and faced him.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me you were empathic?”

Kyle was surprised by her question but her recent behavior explained it. She’d been more withdrawn and she wouldn’t come to him when they were laying down to sleep, instead opting to sleep beside Isabel.
“I don’t know,” he replied. “I guess, it never came up.”
“Well how could it come up if I didn’t know?” she asked in obvious annoyance. “You’d think after all the talks we’ve had and me telling you everything about my life that you’d tell me something. If you could feel what I was really feeling, why not say anything?”
“Because I felt everything you were feeling!” Kyle exclaimed.

Serena took a step back from his tone of voice. “I could feel everything, Serena. How do I bring something like that up without embarrassing you or me? We would be sitting there talking about whatever, and I’d feel wave after wave of emotion. It’s something that’s hard for me to control. It’s part of the reason I joined Max’s crew. I saw him walking down with Michael and Zan and I could feel everything coming from them, and I wanted to be part of them.” He paused and took a deep breath. Max and the others were gone now. “It’s overwhelming sometimes, this power I have. I used to think it was a curse. I could feel everything, good or bad. So when I talked to you I could feel your sadness, your hurt, your loneliness, and little by little, your desire.”

“Oh,” as all Serena could muster to say. She didn’t know that’s what he felt. She didn’t know how deep his power was. She had greatly misjudged him. She looked down at her feet and didn’t look up until she heard his hitched breath.

She looked up at him and saw his shoulders slumped, chin touching his chest, tears falling from his eyes. “Oh Kyle, I’m sorry.” She said and rushed into his arms. “I didn’t know how bad it was.”
“It’s not all bad. I mean, “he paused and wiped his eyes, “it can come in handy. But having my own emotions and adding others’ it gets to be much.” He sniffed and started laughing, “Look at me, no wonder I was known as “the woman” on the ship.”
“You, Kyle, are definitely no woman.” Serena told him seriously. “Because that would make me a lesbian.” Before Kyle could come up with a comeback her lips were on him and her hands were around his neck.

~*~

Tess, David, Chiron and Eliza wondered in the town square in search of a new place to stay.
“I’m tired.” Tess complained as the afternoon sun bore down on them.
“I’m burning up,” David muttered between clenched teeth. He was covered protectively in a large cloak but the heat was still causing him a lot of pain.

“You know if you two would have kept it down they wouldn’t have gone up to complain about the noise and we wouldn’t have gotten busted for having four people in one room and be forced to find another place.” Chiron stated. Eliza walked beside him, arms crossed and refusing to speak.

“Tess? Eliza?” They all stopped and slowly turned around.
“Oh my god, Ava, Lonnie!” Eliza screamed and ran toward the female duo.
“Jeez we thought you guys were dead or something.” Lonnie said as Eliza hugged her.
“We thought you were dead,” Tess replied.
“Kyle, David, right?” Ava stepped forward and greeted the men.
“Yeah.” They both replied and nodded.
~*~

Michael stood and walked toward the farthest wall away from the bars. He felt like something was calling out to him and whatever it was, was outside. He pressed himself as close to the wall as he could and closed his eyes.

Max. It had to be. It had been a while but he remember a previous occasion where Max had reached out to him.
“Come on Max, we’re in here buddy.” Michael whispered.
“Max?”

Michael turned around slowly, though already knowing who the voice belonged to. She looked so torn and innocent standing there. He didn’t noticed when his cell door had opened, but it was.
“Liz? Oh man how did you get free? Max is right outside. He’s here to get us out. Come on, we have to find Zan.” Michael said and moved to rush out.

What he didn’t expect was to be thrown back into the cell. Lights flashed before his eyes and he could feel something warm and wet sliding down his head onto his neck.
“What…?” He tried to sit up but his body wasn’t working with him. “Liz?”

~*~

“What exactly is your plan?” Asked one of his underlings.
“Come on she’s been totally broken, she’ll do anything I tell her. She is going to lead us to that good for nothing pirate, and do the dirty work.” Said Nikolas.
“I thought we were supposed to bring him in alive.”
“Whatever, I don’t have time for specifics. They want him alive so they can kill him themselves. We’ll get rid of the middle man.”

Nikolas looked at the screen to see where Liz was. He’d planted a device on her and saw that she was still in the prison, and by the looks of it found one of her old friends. Oh well, two dead pirates would be good too.

Nikolas left the other man there and walked back to his office. He thought he was so smart. Getting that little she-pirate to do his bidding, that was genius.

“You would think that, now wouldn’t you?” said a voice as soon as Nikolas stepped into his office.
“Oh, my Lord,” Nikolas was immediately on his knee. Khivar waved his hand dismissively at the weaker man.

“Get up,” Nikolas nodded but just as he was about to, Khivar stopped him. “On the other hand, stay down.”

Nikolas kept his head down wondering if Khivar had heard anything he’d said before. “Nothing from those prisoners?”
“Some, my lord. Nothing from the men, but the woman did give us some information. It is definitely Maxel.”
“I hear she was healed, this human pirate.” Khivar commented. “This has had some adverse effects?”

“Yes, my lord. She was, is in severe pain. Unstable energy within her painfully makes its way out of her body via crackling green sparks.”
“Where is she now? I wish to speak to her.” Khivar stood from the seat.
“Uh, my lord…that is not possible at the moment.” Nikolas said nervously.
“Not possible? Why not?” Khivar glared down at him.
“Well, my lord, you see during her confinement, we used her to gather information. During this process we learned that she could be manipulated into looking for Maxel, convinced that he was the cause of her torment. So, we let her go hoping she would lead us to him.”

“You what?!” Khivar shouted and knocked Nikolas backward. “You stupid son of a bitch!” He picked the smaller man up by the neck and slammed him against the wall. “Who gave you that authorization?”
“No…no one my lord. I just thought it would help.” Nikolas choked out.
“No one pays you to think, you twit. You get her back here!”

~*~

“Ah!” Max screamed, holding on to his head. It felt like red hot coals were being poured into his skull. Maria and Rath looked on as he fell back against a tree.
“Max? Max what is it?” Maria asked as she rushed to his side.

“Duke?” Rath stared at his captain in shock. He’d never seen Max is so much obvious pain. Max was always the kind of man to keep his pain inside. He remembers one time after a battle onboard one of the ships they’d raided, Max had been shot in the stomach and even though it looked pretty bad and he was covered in blood he didn’t complain. Max had just gone to their sick bay after everything was over, got patched up and resumed his duties.

But now Max was practically crawling at his scalp, eyes screwed shut tight, sweat forming on his skin and blood trickling from his mouth from biting through his lip. Rath did the only thing he could think of.

He stepped forward, pushed Maria out of the way and punched Max. Max stared at him for a second before slumping forward.
“What the hell did you do?” Maria asked. She reached over for Max and felt for his pulse. He was still alive. “Why’d you do that?”
“Duke was in pain. Couldn’t stand to see him like that.” Rath said with a shrug.

Hey all I'm on time today! Hoorah!!
I've been working hard on hashing out new parts. School has been taking up most of my time, and having to write for those classes and read it takes away from my musing here. I just wanted to drop this off now since I will not be here later on. I'm going to Knott's Scary Farm!OOOooooooohhh, scary. lol

Thanx for always for all the feedback. I get a kick out of reading what you guys post, so don't be shy and post all you lukers!!

Part 23

As soon as Kyle and Serena stepped into the town square Kyle stopped and took a step back.
“What is it?” Serena asked. Kyle’s expression changed from one of surprise to one of delight,
“Come on,” he said, taking her hand and leading her further into the town square. Serena tried to question him but before she could verbalize anything she found herself looking at four of her crew mates.
“Guys!” She yelled out and ran toward the other girls.

“Serena?” Tess shouted as she saw her fellow crewmate running up to them. The two crashed into each other and fell to the ground as the rest gathered around them.
“David man, you look like hell.” Kyle said teasingly as he saw his crewmate.
“Feel like it too. Blazing inferno and all.” David replied. His eyes were already dry and red, his skin felt like it was starting to shrink. “Look I know this is a happy reunion moment and all, but I’m really starting to fry here.”

They all moved over to a more shady are of the square and allowed David to sit in everyone’s shadows.
“Man, Lonnie we didn’t know what to think when we finally stopped running and you weren’t there anymore.” Serena said.
“I got nicked by a blast.” Lonnie said with a shrug. “I found Ava a little while later. No worries”

The now larger group stood facing one another not knowing what to do next.
“There’s a ship.” Kyle blurted to break the silence. “Alex, Serena, Isabel and I found a ship. It’s a piece of shit and it keeps crashing but we’re working on it.
“Guidance system is off?” Tess asked with a grin. When Kyle and Serena nodded she cracked her knuckles. “Let me at it.”

~*~

When Max finally woke up he groaned and reached for his head. When he felt the large bump on his forward he groaned again.
“What hit me?” He asked as his vision began to clear and he could make out Maria and Rath kneeling in front of him.
“This did.” Maria said as she pointed at Rath.
“Why did you hit me?” Max asked and tried to stand. Rath and Maria each took an arm and helped him up.

“You were screaming and pulling your hair out, duke.” Rath said. “I wanted to help ya.”
“By punching me?”
“Knocking you out.” Rath corrected.

“What was it Max? You freaked us out.” Maria said. She handed him their shared water container.
“I don’t know…” He stopped and closed his eyes. When he opened them again Rath was posed punch him again. “No!” Max said and raised his hand to stop him. “I was just thinking.” He explained. “Liz, it was Liz. There’s something…I don’t know. I felt Michael too. He’s injured.”

“We gotta go in there.” Rath said and took a step toward the tower.
“Wait, we need a plan.” Maria said and looked to Max. “Do we have a plan?”
“I’m getting there.”

~*~

Zan sat up in his cell having heard the echo of footsteps. In his stay there he’d hardly ever heard a single footstep, then again they probably came when they knocked him out. But now he heard them, very soft, but he heard them, and they were coming in his direction. He shuffled closer to the bars hoping to see who was coming, but they didn’t allow much assistance. He wouldn’t know who it was until they were right in front of him.

Something in the back of his mind was buzzing. Almost like a warning. He tried to reach for it but it quickly pulled back. That was weird. It felt as though whatever it was, it was trying to reach him but it couldn’t.

The closer the steps got he stood. He knew he couldn’t properly fight back, not with the lead gloves on his hands, and of course the constant haze he was in.

The steps stopped about three feet before his cell and he could hear the person’s labored breathing. Soft pained moans drew him closer until he could see the person’s shadow.
“Liz?”

She stepped into the light, hair tangled and dirty, hanging over her face. Her left hand was griping her right arm where green sparks danced on her skin, each spark making her flinch. She was shivering looking at Zan from behind her curtain of hair.
“Zan?” She whispered through lips that was badly cracked.
“Aw Liz. What did they do to ya?” Zan asked and reached through the bars toward her.

She jerked back although she was already too far back for him to reach her. “If ya just get me out of here, I can kill whoever did this to you.” Zan promised.
“Max?”

~*~

“Ok, yeah this is a piece of shit.” Tess announced as she looked at the control panel. The others groaned around her.
“All she needs is a little love.” Alex replied, running his hand over the dirty metal.
“A little love and a complete transformation.”

While everyone was glad to see each other again, they were more concerned about getting the ship up and operational. Isabel, Tess, Alex and Kyle all worked on the ship trying to fix the major problems, while the rest worked to gather supplies.

“Has anyone heard from Max and the rest?” Asked David from his spot in the shade. Mostly everyone looked to one another for any answers but no one seemed to have any.
“I think I may know where they are keeping Zan. He was captured by some creepy short guy at this pub we were looking at.” Ava said.
“Creepy short guy? Did he have brown hair and eyes, a sort of lisp….uh, a scar on his chin?” Kyle stopped looking at the controls to ask.
“Yeah, I think so, why?”

“That’s Nikolas, Khivar’s semi intelligence man. He goes out to do Khivar’s dirty work.” Kyle said.
“I think I’ve heard of ‘im. Worthless piece of shit. All he does is mind rape the prisoners or whoever else is in their way.” Lonnie said and shrugged.
“Mind rape?” Asked Eliza.
“He goes into the minds of his victims and takes whatever information he wants.” Kyle responded for Lonnie.

“Rough.” Chiron said. He walked over to David and handed him another large blanket. “Hang this over you and you’ll get more shade.”
“Thanks.” David smiled and took the blanket.

“I think if we go back and find the other ships, we could salvage parts and bring them for this one.” Tess said.
“If they’re even still there.” Alex replied. “Who’s to say those soldiers who were after us didn’t fin our ships and destroy everything?”
“Doesn’t hurt to try.”

After deciding that David and Eliza would stay behind to guard the ship, the rest set out to locate their fallen ships.
“I don’t see why Chiron can’t stay with me,” Eliza had complained.
“Because if you two are left here alone, there won’t be much ship guarding.” Tess said. “Besides, David can’t be walking around in the sunlight for long.”
“Fine,” Eliza huffed.

Tess and Alex were talking shop behind Lonnie and Ava. Lonnie and Ava being the only ones with available weapons.
“See at first I thought it was just that the ship was so old, but the equipment should still work.”
“From what I saw it’s just that it’s been out of commission for so long. Bringing back the controls and software from the ships should get that hunk of junk off the ground and out of here.” Tess replied.

~*~

“We need to get a feel of the place.” Max said. “We need to split up.”
“Split up? Shouldn’t we maybe stick together?” Maria asked worriedly.
“We need to find a way in first and it’ll be quicker to search separately.” Max said. “Ok, Rath you take the East side, Maria take the South. Can you shift into something they won’t notice?” He asked. Maria nodded and swiftly became a small bird. “Ok. I’ll take the West and North side. If you guys find anything we reach for each other. Rath, we already have a connection. Maria you need to switch back for a moment.”

When Maria switched back into her body she stepped forward and Max placed his hands on her temples. “Just keep breathing, slow and steady. Look into my eyes, don’t look away. Ready?”
Maria nodded. In a flash she felt the sharp jolt and she felt like the wind was knocked out of her.
“Wow.”
“I didn’t form a strong connection, just enough so we can contact each other. Ok, let’s go.”

Hey all. Guess who's finally back with a new update?? No guess again...nope, guess again....one last chance.
Yay it's me!!!! LOL
Classes are over and done. I just got a final next week and then it's 3 weeks of bliss!!
I'm sorry it has taken this long to have a new part up, but that's what I get for being an English major.

Thanx for sticking around and bumping this lowly fic of mine.
You guys are the best!!

Part 24

It was hard enough to find any sort of opening in the large tower, let alone one big enough for someone to enter from. Maria had been flying as a small bird around the tower but had yet to find so much as a window in the place. Flying over to the top of the tower she shifted and became a small lizard.

As she crawled around another curve she delighted internally when she found a small opening and slipped inside.

~*~

On the other side of the tower Rath stared up and down, scratching his head. He had no clue how they were going to get in. He had tried to climb up the steep walls but there were no secure holds. He thought about blasting his way in but figured it wouldn’t be such a good idea. They were going for the stealth entrance, not announcing that they were there.

He walked on trying to find a weakness in the building, but so far there was none.

~*~

“Ok I swear this is where the ships were.” Kyle said as they walked into the opening. They all nodded in agreement, knowing that this is where they had all been. “I’m picking up all kinds of signals. It was definitely here.”

“Damn it. Now what?” Alex said as he stood in the middle of the cleared out space. He hunched down to the clearly burned off grass and picked up a piece of stray metal.
“Well, we can hit up the junk yards. Where did you guys find that old ship?” Tess asked.
“No. No way we are going back to that crazy old man. He’s the one who thought that piece of scrap metal was good.”

“We can find another place.” Kyle said with a sigh. Just then a they all looked up to see a ship fly by.
“How about we see where that one is heading?” Lonnie said with a grin.
“That looked like a guard ship to me.” Ava replied.
“Then that means it’s in working order. Let’s go.

~*~

“Max? Is he here? Where’s Max, Liz?” Zan asked as he inched closer to her.
“Max…hurt me. Ah!” She screamed as another jolt of pain shot through her. She reached out and took hold of the bars, and Zan watched in amazement as the bars began to melt.
“Oh shit. What happened to you?”

He stepped back when the cell door began to shake and come off it’s hinges. With a loud thud, the bars crashed into the cell. Liz stood, mouth bleeding from where her teeth dug into her lip and still holding on to two bar fragments. Sweat came down her face, drops sliding down the bridge of her nose.

Zan cautiously moved closer to her, noticing that with each step Liz would tense just a little.
“Hey girl. It’s me, your buddy Zan. I’m not going to hurt you ok. Just relax.” At his words Liz’s shoulders slumped.

He could now feel a field of static electricity around Liz. It made the hairs on his arms stand on end. With his leaden gloved hand he reached out to touch her arm. Liz gasped at the contact with the cold gloves and looked up with pleading eyes.
“Help me,” she whispered, blood still oozing from her lip. When Zan grabbed her other arm she collapsed.

~*~

“Do you really think it’s smart to try to break into a highly secured military base and steal a ship?” Alex asked as they looked at the large fence.
“No. The smart thing ain’t to try to steal it, it’s to actually steal it.” Lonnie replied with a grin.
“I mean, we’re not even armed for pete’s sake. We had to run from a handful of these guys before. Now here there are hundreds if not thousands of them.”

“Just relax Alex. We’ve come too far to back out now.” Kyle said.
“What do you mean we’ve come too far? We’re just at the freaking fence!”
“Quit you’re squealing man. Get your balls in place.” Lonnie said and shook her head.
“You leave my balls out of this!” Alex said in annoyance.

“Will everyone shut up about balls and let’s actually make a plan here. Or do we expect to just run in there and take a ship all gung-ho?” asked Isabel. She looked at Lonnie and Ava, and saw that grin they shared right before they were going to do something stupid.
“Ok, I’m not liking what I’m feeling,” Kyle said with a look of concern.
“There will be no gung-hoing of any kind!” Tess said as she grabbed Lonnie’s arm.

“What’s that one Earth saying?” Lonnie asked Ava with a grin.
“I think it’s-“
“Don’t even say it.” Serena warned.
“Geronimo!” Lonnie and Ava both yelled before blasting a hole through the fence and charging forward.
“Damn crazy Antarians!” Kyle yelled and the ran following Ava and Lonnie.

~*~
Eliza leaned against the side of the ship, arms crossed and glaring at David.
“Look, I didn’t ask to be left behind either.” David said from his seat in the shade. Eliza merely humphed and looked the other way.
“What’s taking them so long?”
“The ships were totaled remember? It’s going to take awhile to sort everything out.”
“What if they’re in trouble?”
“They’re not.
“How do you know?”
“Cause I would know.”
“How?”
“Jeez woman would you just shut up.” David said in desperation.

“How dare you tell me to shut up?” Eliza replied. “I’m just worried about my friends.”
“You’re driving me nuts! If I wasn’t worried of getting burnt up I’d go over there and slap some sense into you.”
“Slap me? Slap me? Just try to and see if you’ll have any dick left!”

With that David threw the blanket off of himself and charged Eliza, pinning her to the side of the ship with a growl.
“I’m worried about them too ok. You’re not the only one with someone they care about out there.” He snarled, his skin already starting to sizzle under the high sun. Eliza felt the tears burning her eyes and David let her go. “I care about those people too. You don’t have to stand there pouting because your boyfriend isn’t here with you.”

“I just don’t want to lose any more people.” Eliza said as she began to sob. “So many have died already.”
“I know. I lost some good friends too. People I considered brothers. Let’s just sit tight and wait ok? I’m sure they’ll be back soon.”

Eliza nodded and wiped her nose with the back of her hand.
“You should get back in the shade.” She said softly.
“I’m sorry I went off like that.” David said before walking back under the shade.
“I’m sorry too.”

~*~

Zan carried Liz over his shoulder as he scanned the rest of the cells in search of Michael. In almost every cell laid an inmate in different forms of containment. Some had muzzles, which would explain the silence. Others had gloves like Zan had on, and yet others were chained to the walls.

“Hey kid, What are you doing?” One asked from his cell. His large mouth showing all if his teeth.
“Getting out of here.” Zan said without breaking a stride.
“Wait, help us too.” The man pleaded.
“Couldn’t even if I wanted to duke.” Zan raised his gloved hand.
“Who’s that you got there?”
“Friend. She’s busted up real bad. She’s the only reason I’m out right now.”
“She looks kinda familiar. Look get me out of here. I got a crew in here too somewhere. Together it’ll be easier to get out than just you and an unconscious girl.” Said the large-mouthed man.
“How? I got another friend in here too.”

“I can help get those gloves off your hands. Just please help me find my crew.”
Zan thought about it, but how could this man, even though he was massive, get his gloves off if he was chained in his cell?

“Maybe I can be some help as well.” Zan turned around at the familiar voice.

Thanks for all the birtday wishes and feedback. You guys are awesome.
A little news to report, this part comes from recovering from and accident. It wasn't big, nobody was hurt but the stress of having to get my car fixed and insurance people giving me the run-around. So I hope this meets to standard.

:)

Part 25

Max was ready to just blast his way in. Sweat was pouring down his face, chest, and back. He kept getting breath-taking jolts of pain that would force him to stop and hold on to stone façade. He knew the pain was coming from Liz and that knowledge made it hard for him not to break down the walls.

Max concentrated on Rath and found the same frustration mirrored in the connection. So far he’d gotten nothing from Maria.

~*~

“This is ridiculous!” Alex shouted as he ran for cover behind a large metal storage unit. They had gotten within ten feet of one of the ships when they were spotted by the soldiers. Now they were all running for their lives.

The only ones really fighting back were Ava and Lonnie, the closest to the ship, and they were being overwhelmed. From his spot behind the unit, Alex could see blood flowing freely from Ava’s left arm. He gnashed his teeth and pounded his fist into the metal.

This is exactly what he was afraid of. Things were never this disorganized with Max. It was now that he truly missed and admired his captain. Max would have never done anything so unorganized, so…so…stupid.

He looked to his left over at Kyle and Isabel who were crouching behind other storage containers.
“Alex!” Tess shouted over the sound of blasts. He looked over at her and saw her with her back against one of the ships. “Come on!”

He looked over at the soldiers and at Lonnie and Ava and made a desperate dash toward Tess.
“Damn it!” He shouted as a blast grazed his ankle and he went crashing into Tess.
“Ok I said to come over not knock me over.” Tess complained. She helped him up and they moved over to the side without the blasting. “We gotta get in and get this thing off the ground before they reach us.”

Alex nodded and felt around the smooth metal for an opening.
“Are they always this impulsive?” Alex asked as he found a latch and got it open.
“Once they got us in a bar fight because Lonnie thought the bartender stiffed her on her drink.” Tess replied and rushed to the consul. “Those two have almost gotten us killed too many times than I can count, but they always get us out alive.”

“Ok I go it.” Alex shouted as the ship began to rumble to life. Tess nodded and shouted out of the door.
“Guys!” She screamed over the sound of battle. Lonnie and Ava nodded and called out for the rest. Kyle grabbed Isabel by her arm and pulled her through the blasts.

“Where’s Serena? Where’s Serena?” Kyle shouted as they climbed into the ship. Lonnie and Ava were at the door continuing to blast away the soldiers that tried to rush at them.
“I don’t know. I thought she was with you,” Tess said.

Kyle pushed his way past Lonnie and Ava who tried to pull him back. He ignored them and the soldiers, intent only on finding Serena.
“Serena!” He shouted over the din.

He ducked past all the blasts until he found Serena laying on the ground, face down, blood pooling under her. “Shit!” Kyle skid on his knees over to her. “Serena? Girl are you ok?” He heard her mumble something that could have been a ‘hell no,’ and scooped her up. When he saw the wound he couldn’t help but cringe. There was dark blood pooling on her abdomen. It didn’t look deep, but it didn’t look nice either.

“Kyle…” Serena mumbled but couldn’t say anything else.
“Get your asses over here now!” Lonnie commanded as she ran over to them to provide cover. Kyle held Serena tighter in his arms and ran toward the ship.
“Let’s get outta here.” Lonnie said as they crossed into the ship.
“Gotcha!” Alex said and got the ship off the ground.

~*~

Zan swung around, Liz’s hair hitting the back of his neck in the process, and faced the voice. From the shadows he couldn’t see the figure clearly, save for the silhouette of someone with the hand on their hip. The person stepped forward into a ray of light and grinned.

“Liz?” Maria gasped as she saw that Zan had Liz over his shoulder.
“Keep it down Red, How’d you get in here?” Zan asked.
“Max, Rath and I came to see if this is where you guys were.” She replied. “Speaking of I should let them know I found you. Wait, where’s Michael?”

“I don’t know. That’s what I was going to do next before this guy stops me.” Zan said and moved his head toward the other prisoner.
“I have a name.” Said the man.
“Yeah well we all do buddy.” Maria said and moved over to look at Liz. She felt her heart squeeze at the sight of her. “We need to get her out of here.”
“We need to find Michael.”

~*~

David looked up at the unmistakable sound of an approaching ship. The tree tops began to sway and the air picked up around them.
“Hey you might want to hide!” David shouted at Eliza who ran toward him. He let her under the blanket and together they huddled closer to the tree.
“Oh god they’re going to see the ship. They’re going to know we’re here.” Eliza panicked and began to hyperventilate.

“Just relax, it’ll be ok,” David said, though he was nervous himself. He knew he wouldn’t put up much of a fight with the sun blaring down and all. He just hoped they didn’t see them.

“Hey you guys!” Shouted Ava from the open latch. David and Eliza peeked from under the blanket. “Come on!” She said and launched a rope ladder down to them.
“Where’s they get that ship? It looks pretty new.” Eliza commented as she rushed at the ladder.
“I don’t know. But let’s just get on.”

~*~

“Come on, you gotta get the rest of us out of here.” Pleaded the man behind the bars.
“I ain’t got time to get everyone out of here. And who’s to say ya ain’t actually criminals.” Zan said.
“Who’s to say you aren’t one either. Why should you escape while the rest of us are stuck here?”

“Oh for goodness sake, here quit your bitching.” Maria said and placed her hand on the lock, hearing it click, and dropped it on the floor. “Now here’s what you’re going to do before I let you out of those chains. We’re going that way,” Maria pointed to the right, “And you’re going that way,” she pointed to the left. “And neither of the two shall meet.”

She stepped into the cell and almost regretted it. The man was a giant. At most seven and a half feet tall. As she got closer he kneeled down and stretched his chained hands toward her. She cautiously laid her palms on the locks. They also clicked and landed on the cell floor. The man stood and rubbed at his wrists.
“Thank you.” He said and took off in the direction that Maria had pointed to before.

“Ok let’s go find Michael.” Maria said and took hold of Liz’s limp hand. Zan nodded and started walking.

Thanks for the feedback and well wishes. Yes, accidents are a pain in the butt!! I hope everyone had happy and safe Holidays, whatever you celebrate or don't celebrate. These times can be nerve-wracking what with families, shopping, traffic, and all the other things involved with holidays. Now all we have left for the year is of course New Years!
I know my year has been a memorable one, with good memories as well as a good heeping of bad ones. But we must all keep the good memories at heart and just remember those. I don't know if I'll have a new part before the new year, but I will promise an exciting new part for the new coming year.

I pray that you all will be safe and very happy in this new year!

Part 26

Max was about to tell Rath just where to blast and how hard when he felt the pull from Maria. Their connection was very weak, but he felt shimmer of relief which could only mean she’d found Liz. He sent his own relief back to her and sent an image of his location.

He then turned his mind back to Rath and sent him the same relief and location. But Rath was not relieved. He sent Max an image of Zan and Michael, their crew, their brothers. Max frowned and tried to reach Maria again, but could not feel any response.

~*~

Zan strode on, looking in every cell for his friend. Maria kept up, still holding Liz’s hand.
“I think our little Liz may have visited Mike first.” Zan said as he spotted an open cell just ahead. He ran toward the cell forcing Maria to release Liz’s hand. “Shit,” Zan stopped and merely dropped Liz.

There he was, Michael, strewn on the floor, looking very much little a tattered rag doll. Though it was dark, Zan could see the distinct dark puddle gathering under Michael’s head.
“Oh my god. Is he ok?” Maria asked.
“I think Liz here had a freak out when she saw him.” Zan said as he made his way over to Michael, gently laying Liz down on the small cot.

“Why would Liz do that to him?” Maria asked as she kneeled next to Liz, moving the smaller woman’s hair from her face. “Oh honey. What happened to you?” Maria said in a sigh.
“Good thing is he’s still breathing. Bad is he ain’t in no condition to walk.” Zan said pointedly.
“Well I’m not carrying him.” Maria said.
“I didn’t ask you to.” Zan replied. “Where are Max and Rath?”
“They are outside. No real way to get in here. I found a small crack and squeezed in.”

Zan groaned. If there were no way to get in, how were they going to get out? “You know where they are?”
“Yep, North side.” Maria said and tried to heft Liz up.
“Hold up. There any way ya can get these off me?” Zan lifted his still gloved hands. Maria shrugged and walked over to him.
“Hand ‘em over.” Maria said and took hold of Zan’s hands. The lead gloves were flexible enough for him to move his fingers, but were strong enough to not give under any form of crude removal. Maria had to really concentrate in order to get a real feel of the make up of the gloves. They were certainly meshed pretty tightly and were made of extreme fire retardant material.

“This is going to take me awhile.” Maria confessed.
“We ain’t have that much time. I don’t know if they looking for Liz here, and eventually they gonna start looking for me and check on Mike here. And what about that other guy? Come on, just think real hard.”

Maria nodded and closed her eyes, seeing every cell in the gloves. She concentrating in seeing all those cells and compound break down and separate. She could feel the lead in her hands begin to move and then Zan sighed and the soft ‘thunk’ on the cell floor let her know that it had worked.
“Ok now you pick him up, and I’ll get Liz. We gotta move.”

~*~

Kyle cradled Serena in his arms. They had wrapped a makeshift bandage around her abdomen made out of Kyle’s torn up shirt. Serena’s eyes flickered and her lips moved in silent conversation. When she frowned Kyle frowned.

“How is she doing?” Ava asked as she sat down on the floor next to Kyle.
“She’s lost a lot of blood.” Kyle said and looked at the blood on Ava’s own shirt. “How about you?”
“This?” Ava asked as she held her injured arm. “This ain’t nothing big.” She shrugged, but Kyle could feel the pain she was holding back. She didn’t want to add anything else to their ordeal. Kyle smiled at her and she smiled back.

“So what exactly happened?” David asked as he sat beside Tess.
“The ships were gone. Lonnie saw a military ship and here we are.” Tess said as she looked over the controls.
“But how did you get this ship? I mean, I know you didn’t just walk over at take it.”
“We blasted our way through. Now we have to get off this planet before we get caught.”

“No!” Ava shouted. “We can’t leave. Zan’s still out there.”
“So are Max, Michael and Rath.” Kyle added.
“And Liz and Maria,” Isabel said.
“Well do any of you know where they are?” Alex asked as he flew the ship.
“I think I may know where.” Ava said.

~*~

Maria and Zan hurried to the North side of the tower, Maria with Liz hanging off her back, and Zan with Michael on his. They were almost at the spot where Max and Rath were now waiting when they heard other footsteps.
Zan signaled for Maria to stop walking and keep quite.

Maria could hear Liz begin to whimper.
“And where do you think you are going?” Asked a masculine voice. In the shadows a figure appeared. A tall man, medium of built stepped forward. “Ah is that our little captain?” Asked the man.

“Look duke, you should just get out of our way.” Zan said and shifted Michael so he could extend one of his hands.
“I can’t let you just leave, you must know that.” Said the man and walked closer. “You are a prisoner here. That little captain there is another prisoner. You, I do not know,” He said in reference to Maria. “But it does not matter, because you cannot leave either.”

“Zan,” Maria said and looked hopelessly at him. She could not fight and leave Liz defenseless. She closed her eyes and concentrated on Max, letting him know that they needed he and Rath.
“And just who are you trying to contact?” Asked the man. “Could it be the infamous Captain Maxel, that…that pirate?” He spit out the last word.

“Just get out of our way,” Maria said with conviction. She could feel the urge to shift into something more ferocious make the hairs on her arm raise. She could feel her blood pumping faster and stronger.
“You heard the lady,” The man turned around to see a gang of prisoners behind him, all armed with whatever they could find. The man in the lead, the large man Maria had released earlier, held a large pipe in his hand. “I’ve been waiting years for this, and now you’re going to get yours, Kivar.”

OK, I've really been working on more updates, but progress has been slow. I managed to write this out, it is short but it's something.
I will keep writing in hopes of getting more parts up soon.

Thanks again to my loyal readers, the newbies, and of course the inevitable lurkers.

For now please accept this....

Part 27

She was trapped in the thick fog. She had no idea where she was. She was cold and the air around her was hard to breathe in. Everywhere she turned there was the gray curtain. She ran and ran hoping to run into anything material, anything that would tell her where she was or just how to get out.

Her body ached and she looked down and could see blood and sweat coating her all over. She could hear muffled voices all around her. They sounded familiar but she could remember nothing.
“Hello? Where am I? Is anyone there?” She called out but her own voice echoed back at her.

She wrapped her arms around herself and continued to walked through the fog. Figures appeared and disappeared all around her. When she thought she could reach out to one, they would fade away.

Something wasn’t right. That much she knew. The last thing she remembers is being in the cell. How she got here, she had no idea.

“Lizzie,” came the echoed voice. She paused and frantically turned every direction. Her name came again, still reverberating among the fog. She turned on her heels and ran desperately searching for the voice.

“My daughter,” echoed the voice again, causing burning tears to sting at her eyes and cheeks.
“Daddy!” She shouted, her throat protesting to the volume and strain. Her heart was threatening to break through her rib cage but she pushed herself onward.

“Daddy! Daddy where are you?” She cried when the voice would not respond.
“Lizzie,” the disembodied voice said again, and Liz collapsed to her knees.
“Where? Where are you?” She screamed. She bent full, her face in her hands and let the tears wash out. Her shoulders shook with the tremors of her sobs.

“Lizzie?” She felt the weight of a hand on her shoulder and cried all the harder. “Lizzie.” She didn’t need to look up to see who’s hand it was.
“Oh daddy!” She said and clung to the leg that had materialized before her.
“Hello baby.” He said as he knelt down. “What’s the matter?”

“Daddy I don’t know where I am. Am…am I dead?”
“No sweetheart. You’re not dead. Just lost.” He said, running his hands through her hair.
“I’m scared daddy.” She whispered and ran her hands over his. She wanted to believe this was real.
“I know Lizzie. I know.”

They remained in each other’s arms for several long moments, each just enjoying being held. Reluctantly Jeff began to pull away. He smiled and wiped the tears from her cheeks. “You look beautiful.”
“No I don’t” She said shyly, and unconsciously brushed her fingers through her hair.
“Yes you do. I’m proud of you honey. So proud.”

“It hurts so much. I don’t think I can do this.”
“You’re stronger than you think. You’re stronger than anyone I’ve ever known. I’ve seen you grow up from my little girl who would drive my crew crazy, to this beautiful strong woman. Lizzie, I know it’s hard. I know you think you can’t get through this, but you can. You will. You have to go back sweetheart.”

“No daddy. I don’t want to leave you.” She said desperately. She grabbed on to his arms, preventing him from moving away.
“You can’t stay here. This isn’t a place for you. You have to go back.” He said and pulled them up to stand.

She shook her head and babbled incoherently. She did not want to leave him. She did not want to give him up again.
“I know. Oh sweetheart I know. But you can’t stay here. Not yet.”
“Daddy I’ll die. I don’t care.”
“You’ll live baby. It’s not your time yet.”

“Just get out of our way.” She recognized the voice this time. Maria.
“I love you Lizzie.”
“No daddy. Please don’t leave me!”
“You heard the lady…I’ve been waiting years for this, and now you’re going to get yours, Kivar.”

“I love you. I’ll always be around.” He said and began to fade.
“I love you too daddy. I love you too.” She cried and cringed when the pain began to course through her again. The fog began to turn into pure black. And she felt herself slipping away.

Hey I'm back. It took me longer than I expected but here it is, a brand spanking new part. Just a little pre warning though. I am no as pleased with this part as I am with my other ones. With school and life drama going on, my muse is not what it used to be. I feel bad that this is not my best work, but I can't leave you guys without an update for so long. So if this part is lacking or you think "what the heck?" it's totally understandable.

So with that you probably don't even want to read it anymore, lol.

Part 28

Kyle held Serena steady as the ship turned every which way. He looked down at her and saw her face begin to pale.
“Don’t tell me you’re getting motion sickness,” he tried to joke, but the blood still seeping from her wound prevented the smile to reach his lips.

Serena just shook her head and squeezed his hand. “Do we even know where we’re going?” Kyle asked.
“A few miles east. When you see a giant tower sticking out from the trees, that’s where the others are at.” Ava said. Her own wound just mildly pulsing now.

“I don’t remember seeing you do anything, why are you all cuddly.?” Lonnie grumbled at Chiron who sat with Eliza in his lap. He just shook his head and hugged Eliza closer.
“Leave him alone.” Eliza mumbled over his shoulder. “Baby, what’s…” She pulled away when she began to feel her pants wet. “Did you just pee?” She asked without thinking. He shook his head and his face paled. “Baby?”

He tried to pull her back closer to him but she stood and touched at the wet spot on his own pants. “Oh my god!” She screamed when she looked down at her red stained hand.
“Oh shit!” Lonnie yelled as she rushed toward him. She began to pull off his pants, to Eliza’s horror, and almost vomited at the sight. “Fuck I can see bone.”

“Why didn’t you say something?” Eliza screamed. He opened his mouth and tried to speak but only harsh breathing sounds came out.
“He looked fine.” Isabel said from her seat. She couldn’t believe what was happening. First Serena and now Chiron. Yeah she didn’t expect to get out of there unscathed, but not this.

~*~

“Where duke, where?” Rath asked trying to catch his breath. He had met up with Max when his connection tugged and now Max was trying to locate Maria.
“Around here. I can feel them.”
“Zan’s with them? And Mickey?”
“Yes. Now come on.”

Max closed his eyes and concentrated on Maria. He could feel Liz now. Her connection was weak, barely there, but he could feel her. “Here.” Max said and raised his hand to the wall. Rath nodded and raised his own hand poised to blast.

~*~

Michael began to come to, feeling the pounding pain at the back of his head. The mumbled voices forcing their way into his ear sounded angry. He could feel two hands gripping his arms painfully as his feet barely touched the floor. He struggled to open his eyes and managed to get a close up of fabric.
He groaned and tried to move his feet to stand on his own but the hands gripped him tighter.
“Hmm, let go.” He mumbled.
“Mike?”

Zan looked over his shoulder to see his friend was waking up. “Finally,” and let Michael stand on his own.
“What’s going on?” Michael asked groggily. He looked to his left to see Maria holding up Liz. “She ok?”
“Don’t know.”

He walked over to Maria and took hold of Liz.
“Here, let me hold her.”
“You just came back,” she tried to complain, but he took Liz’s still limp form from her.

“Now, now gentlemen I don’t know how you got out of your cells, but you will be going back now.” Kivar said. He snapped his fingers and an army of armed guards came rushing from the corner. “You didn’t really think I would walk into an ambush now did you?”

“Ha, you think I’m afraid of your puny men you bastard?” said the large man. He mouth opened wide in a sarcastic grin. He looked back at his men and they all laughed with him. “It took three times more than you have there the last time.”
“And the last time I recall it only took one to kill your captain.” Kivar replied with his own grin. He saw the effect it took on them. “Ah yes, and then you all just relented didn’t you?”

“Liz?” Michael asked when her eyes began to move from behind their lids. Her mouth opened in a soft groan. “Wake up, Liz.”

“Ah is that who caused all this mess?” asked Kivar. “That’s the little woman pirate is it not?” He took a step towards them.
“Stay away from her.” Maria said taking a step in front of Michael and Liz.
“Or what? Is the kitty going to scratch?” Kivar laughed.
“You have no idea.” Maria said, and ended with a threatening growl. Her green eyes turned yellow and golden fur began to sprout all over her body. Michael stared in awe when where Maria was stood was a lion.

Kivar jumped back when one of Maria’s paws slashed out at him. Then he took another step back when a blast hit right in front of his feet.
“Gloves are off.” Zan said right before the wall to his right exploded.

“Shit.” Michael yelled as he was thrown back against a wall. He gripped Liz tighter to his chest and she gasped. He could feel the hairs on his arms begin to stand on end. It felt like someone was running small currents over his skin.

“Max!” Zan yelled in surprise. Rath ran in and stood at Zan’s side. “Rath my man. Good to see you alive.”
“You too man.” Rath replied.
“Maxel.” Kivar said as the debris cleared. His men got closer but he raised his hand for them to stay back. “It’s been years.”
“Not long enough though.” Max said. He looked over at Zan and sighed in relief that he was still alive. Then he saw Michael. Michael was leaning against the wall, eyes closed tight, an expression of pain across his face and he was holding Liz.

Michael felt like his skin was trying to tear itself free from his body. Liz was twitching in his arms and he could hear something crackling. Maria roared when a spark landed on her fur.
“Michael!” Zan yelled and rushed to his side. “Let go of her before she fries you.”

Michael screamed and got down on his knees, letting Liz slide out of his grasp. He scrambled away from her as the sparks grew brighter. Liz’s eyes opened then and she let out an ear-piercing scream.

“Liz.” Max tried to get to her but a blast stopped him in his tracks.
“Leave the girl. You have more important things to worry about.” Said Kivar. He gathered his men closer.

“You haven’t forgotten about us now have you?” Asked the large man. His men grinned along with him and rushed the guards.

Maria jumped into the fight slashing anyone in a uniform and biting anything that came too close to her fangs. Rath let out a battle cry before joining in. Michael tried to get close to Liz who was still screaming but a blast knocked him back.

“Max!” Zan grimaced as the sparks coming off of Liz kept him at bay. Max finally ran over to them and kneeled as close to Liz as he could get.
“Liz, it’s Max. I’m here.” He said and reached out a hand.
“Max? Max!” Liz shot up and sent Max flying backwards.

“Liz, it’s us girl. It’s…” But Zan could not finish because he found him self joining Michael down the hall.

Liz stood up, confused by the battle going on around her. She had no idea where she was and what was happening. She scurried to get away from everyone, her skin burning. She had heard him. The man that had caused all of this.

“Liz!” Max yelled. He looked scared. She cocked her head to the side and raised her right hand. “Liz no!” Max jumped out of the way as a green blast just missed him.

~*~

“Are you sure you know where we’re going?” Asked Alex. They had been in the air for almost an hour now.
“It should be right over…” Ava said before a blast shot out from their left.
“Oh god they found us.” Eliza said, holding on to Chiron’s pale hand.
“No.” Ava said. “That’s where we have to go.” She grinned. “Zan’s there, I can feel him.”
“We’re going to have to land this where the others can see.” Isabel said and looked for a big enough clearing.

I did it!!! I knocked out another part! Yes! I know I shouldn't feel so proud of myself since it took this long to get it done, but darn it I am proud, lol.
Now that my papers are done and I just have a final on Saturday (yes I know how crazy is that????) that I am not really worried about, I can spend more time writing. So I'm not saying I will be cranking them out like clock work, but you can expect new parts soon.
Thanx for the feedback and the bumps. Hope to see you guys at the author's chat Tuesday, March 28 at 10EST on Dreaming Among the Stars: http://p196.ezboard.com/bdreamingamongstars

It'll be your chance to ask those questions I sometimes don't get to here.

Part 29

Max stared at Liz as she stood panicked as everyone around them fought. He looked over at Michael and Zan and saw that they were ok. He could hear Maria roaring and a flash of her fur within the clashing of bodies.

Now that he was close to her the emotions he would receive from her were out of control. He was having trouble focusing his vision and it was like everything was being intensified. He could see the green sparks coming off of Liz and gasped.

“Ah!” Liz screamed and sent another jolt of energy through the prison hall. The fighting stopped as everyone was thrown back.
“Liz!” Max screamed and rushed her. Before she had a chance to turn in his direction he grabbed her by her midsection and tackled her to the floor.

Liz screamed as it felt that ever bit of skin that came in contact with Max was being set on fire. She tried to struggle free but his grip was almost bone crushing. The pain got so intense that she lapsed back into unconsciousness.

“Liz!” Max yelled as he felt her go limp in his arms. He scooped her up and ran over to Zan and Michael. “We have to get out of here. Now” He said.
“We’ve been trying to do that since before you got here duke.” Zan replied.
“Let’s get Rath and…Maria out of here.” Michael said and tried to locate their friends among the fallen bodies.

“I’m here.” Rath replied and they saw him walking toward them carrying Maria with him. The others were starting to shake off the effects of Liz’s attack and were getting up.
“You aren’t going anywhere!” Kivar roared as he saw the group approaching the gaping hole in the tower wall. He stumbled up and leaned against one of his guards.

“Yeah and you gonna stop us?” Zan taunted.
“In case you’ve forgotten your ships are destroyed. You have no way of getting off the planet even if you do make it out of here.”

Max stopped and found truth in Kivar’s words. They had no where to go.
“What the…” Rath started to say as a strong gust blew in from the hole. They all looked outside to see a ship hovering next to them.
“See, my men are already waiting for you if you try to escape.” Kivar laughed. He had them now.

“Don’t think so duke.” Zan said as he saw the hatch door open. When he saw Ava’s relieved face he blew her a kiss. “They ain’t one of yours.”
Kivar steamed as he saw the ship.
“Get them. Damn you all, get them!” He commanded. His men shook out of their stupor and rushed at the group.

With a guttural yell the large prisoner and his crew rushed along after them . Rath ran out carrying Maria, now in her regular form, out into the clearing. The ship wasn’t low enough to jump on but he raised Maria up to be carried on board. Ava and Kyle took hold of Maria and pulled her into the ship.
“Come on!” Ava yelled toward the others.
“Bring the ship down lower.” Rath said and ran back toward Max and the others.

The prisoners jumped in on the guards once more, seizing their weapons. Kivar saw his men being overwhelmed and ran.
“Ha, the coward runs!” Yelled the large man and laughed. He was going to run after him when one of his crew held him arm and shook his head.

“Come on guys. We gotta go.” Rath yelled. Max nodded and ran toward the ship, Zan and Michael running behind them. When they were near the ship they heard shouted of joy and then ten men running after them.
Zan and Rath stopped and raised their hands at the men but stopped when they saw it was the prisoners.

“Thank you.” Said the large prisoner. He extended his hand toward Zan with a smile. Zan nodded and stepped forward taking the man’s hand in his. “I hope the girl is alright.” He said, referring to Maria. He took a step back and saw Liz in Max’s arms and gasped. “Lil’ Bit?”

After discussing what to do next, Max decided to take the prisoners with them, at least to take them to a separate part of Antar.
“Well leave you somewhere safe. Other than that I cannot carry you with us.” Max had stated. The other crew nodded in understanding.

Once they had boarded the ship Max spotted both Chiron and Serena laying near the end. “What happened?”

Kyle quickly explained what had happened when they took the ship and pleaded with Max to save them. Max kneeled before Serena first and placed his hand under her head.
“I’m going to need you to look into my eyes.” He said. Serena nodded. Max put his hand directly on the wound and felt sick when the warm blood seeped through his fingers. He concentrated his gift of stopping the bleeding and mending the damage.

Serena could feel the tingling inside the wound. It was like the tears and rips were being restored. It felt like an itching sensation and then heat. She gasped when she felt the pull from the inside out. She stared deeper into Max’s eyes but her hand sought out Kyle. Seeing this, Kyle took hold of her hand and gasped. He could feel what she was feeling.
Max finally pulled back and nearly fell over. He looked down and saw smooth skin where there was blood and gore.
“Thank you.” Kyle said with tears forming in his eyes. Max merely nodded and crawled over to Chiron.

“Let me help.” David said as he stood next to Max. Max looked down at the damage on Chiron leg and grimaced. When Lonnie had removed Chiron’s pants it looked like there was hardly anything left to save. It was a miracle that Chiron had ran, let alone walked, into the ship when they took it.

Max took hold of David’s hand, who was bracing himself for the share, and then placed his free hand on Chiron’s leg. Eliza was cradling Chiron’s head in her lap and silently cried. Max took a deep breath and concentrated again on repairing what was damaged.

David gritted his teeth to keep from screaming. He could feel the pull on his energy and sank down on his knees next to Max. He could see the ligaments in Chiron’s leg moving to connect once again, and the bone set in its proper place. While the muscle and skin began to form again Max could feel that it would not be good as new.

Chiron sighed as the pain ebbed away and finally stopped. He looked down and saw his leg whole again. When Max pulled back Chiron moved his foot around and felt the slight difference.
“I’m sorry, but you won’t have the full use of your leg. You will be able to walk, but running and over all agility will be compromised.” Max explained.

Chiron nodded sadly but accepted this. He looked up at Eliza and brought her lips down to his.
“Oh baby I’m so sorry,” She sobbed against his mouth.
“Not your fault. Look all better,” Chiron tried to reassure her.

Zan helped David and Max stand up and made room for them.
“Back there, you…you called Liz a name. What was it?” Max asked the large prisoner.
“Lil’ Bit. I knew that girl since she was knee high. Well maybe not my knee, but smaller.” He grinned. “Her father was our captain.” He said. “My name is Marlok.”

“What happened to her father?” Max asked.
“He was killed. We had landed on Antar when we were ambushed in the woods. They took him and we were kept separate from him. A loud explosion as a distraction helped us get free, but as we waited for Jeff he never came back out. I wanted to stay, others did too, but crew majority won out and we left.” Marlok sighed and lowered his head. “He was a great captain.”

“Kivar said it only took one to bring him down. He said you guys relented after. What did he mean?” Zan asked. He had grown close to Liz and wanted to know what had really happened to her father.
“After we left, we went to Earth where Liz and her mother lived. We let her know that her father was gone from us, but we didn’t explain how.” Marlok looked away in shame. “After we came back to Antar intent on revenge for our captain. But when we get here we learn that Jeff was not dead. It was he how had caused the explosion but he had still been alive. When we learned that he was being held in the Tower we went to rescue him, but again we were ambushed. After we were surrounded and brought inside, Kivar and his pet Nikolas came out dragging Jeff with them. He looked like another man. He was beaten from head to foot. Kivar made him kneel before us and he looked at us trying to smile.

I felt like we had let him down by leaving him there, but as if he read my mind he shook his head. Kivar ordered us to surrender or he would kill Jeff. We all did, but the bastard killed him anyways. We’ve been in that prison ever since.”

The women all wiped their eyes and looked toward the unconscious Liz. None of them had known the whole story. Apparently neither had Liz. “I thank you again for this help. You can leave us where you will. We are forever in your debt.” Said Marlok. He then moved to where they had laid Liz down and kneeled, brushing her hair away from her face. “I am sorry I let you down.” He said sadly.

Part 30

As the ship coasted below radar, Max sat beside Liz. Her breathing had leveled off to look more like she was asleep. He was glad to see that everyone was now ok, but Liz’s strange behavior made him forget the rest.

When he saw her in the prison it was like she was someone else. She looked at him like he were a monster. Seeing her skin glowing with the green sparks was like nothing he had ever seen. The power she showed was immense.

He looked up at the laugh shared by Ava and Zan. They were happy again. It seemed like everyone was pairing off, and that left he and Liz. While he could not deny his attraction for the female pirate, he felt like he hadn’t gotten to know her. They had shared that brief conversation in the woods, and he had seen into her when he saved her, but she was still pretty much a stranger to her. He hadn’t revealed much of who he was either.

“She is an amazing young woman,” Marlok said as he walked over to them. Max looked up, not having seen the large man approach. “She would run around the ship, trying to braid my hair.” He laughed. “To see her now, like this…” Marlok paused and sighed, “I knew she would follow in her father’s steps.”

Max simply nodded to everything the man said. He was at a loss for words just looking at Liz.
“Max.” He looked up to see Michael. “Back there, I heard them saying something about Liz being changed.”
“Duke, they did somethin’ to her. When she came to my cell she was mumbling your name, and when I asked her about it she said something about you hurting her.” Zan supplied from where he stood with Ava.

“I never hurt her.” Max denied in anger. He would never do anything to hurt Liz. He looked down at her again and saw a frown marring her face. He got closer and she groaned softly. When he reached a hand out to her he saw some of the green sparks forming over her skin.
“That’s hurting her duke,” Zan stepped forward and pushed Max away. Max looked at his friend in anger. Zan had come to think of Liz as a sister and couldn’t bear to see her hurting.
“He’s right Max,” Michael said, also worrying about Liz. “She’s confused right now. She knocked me across my cell when I merely mentioned your name. They did something to her. When we were all together she was fine, after the split us up, she…well she lost it.”

Max paced back and forth, trying to figure out what could be wrong. While he had never attempted healing someone who had actually died, he had never had any side effects from anyone else he had healed. If he had done something…if he damaged something in Liz…

He shook his head and kneeled in front of Liz. She began to moan in his sleep and the sparks grew brighter.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to have her throwing off sparks in the ship.” Alex called out from the controls.

Max had to do something. What if he had hurt Liz? What had they done to her in the Tower?

Zan and Michael could see the change in Max’s eyes. They could see the determination.
“What ya gonna do, duke?” Zan asked, taking a step toward them.
“I…I have to do something. What if this is my fault? I have to…I have to help her.” Max mumbled.

Max closed his eyes and concentrated on Liz. He tried to pry open the connection he knew he opened when he healed her and was nearly knocked away by the chaos and pain that he saw. Something was changing inside of Liz. It wasn’t just emotional, no, her biology was changing to accommodate the something new inside of her.

He closed off the connection and gasped for breath. Michael rushed to his side and caught him before he fell over.
“What happened?”
“Something is changing in her. Something…different.” Max replied.

“What do you mean? What’s wrong with her?” Maria asked. She had woken up just as the ship took off. She moved past Zan and kneeled in front of her friend.
“I don’t know. She’s changing.”
“Changing into what? What did those bastards do to her?”
“Not them. I don’t think so. She’s confused, they did that. But the changing, the changing was not them. I think…I think it was me.” Max said.

Maria looked up at him and saw the pain in his eyes. She wanted to be mad. He had done something to her friend, her captain. But to see his face and his body language, he was punishing himself enough for something he had no idea about.

Isabel and Alex brought the ship down in a small enough clearing that it would not be spotted from above. Once secured that they had not been discovered, they exited the ship. Marlok and his crew stood to the side.

“We thank you once again for your help. If ever you need our own, you have it.” Said Marlok. Max nodded and looked over his shoulder at Liz’s body.
“I would not ask you to stay, but I know Liz would want to know the truth of her father. And who best to tell her than you, a man she once trusted?” Max said.

Marlok sighed and turned to his crew. Each held their heads low but nodded.
“Very well. We will stay until young Liz wakes up. From then we will not trouble you anymore.”

Kyle held Serena until she felt she would stop breathing. As much as she feared that, she would not tell him to stop.
“I thought I was going to lose you.” Kyle said with shaky voice. “I couldn’t lose you. Not when I’d just had you.”
“Me either. Oh Kyle, if I would have died with you holding me it would not have been so bad, but I did not want to go.” She said and held him all the tighter.

“God I can’t breathe.” Kyle said and began to laugh.
“I think you’re feeling that from me,” Serena laughed too. Kyle pulled back but kept her in his arms.
“Is it too soon to say that I’m falling for you?” he asked.
“If it is, then I don’t know that time is. It seems like I have known you for years. Like we have never been apart.” She said and let her tears fall.

Kyle kissed the tears as they slid down her cheeks and then kissed her lips. Serena pulled him closer, again not caring is he squeezed her life away. She was only happy to be alive and be with him.

“You thought I wet myself?” Chiron asked laughingly. Eliza let herself finally laugh and shook her head.
“I didn’t know what to think. I wasn’t thinking I just reacted.”
“And your reaction involved me wetting my pants?” He asked again and burst out with more laughter.
“Oh shut up. You scared me. Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I didn’t know it was that bad. I didn’t want to complain.” He said. He took her hand and rubbed her knuckles with his thumb. “You know, I never would have thought that I would come to love you. I was grateful that you saved my life, but then well…” He shrugged and looked up into her eyes. “It was kinky, and it was wild, but when you would leave, all I could think about was wanting you to stay.”
“I’m sorry…” she started to say but Chiron stopped her.
“Don’t apologize. There’s nothing to apologize for. I love you.”
“I love you too.” She said and smiled. Then she let her hand swing back and smack his arm. “Now don’t ever scare me like that again!”

“That was a pretty cool trick you did back there.” Michael said as he came up behind Maria.
“What trick?”
“Changing into that big cat.”
“Oh. It’s nothing.” Maria said. She had wandered off to think by herself.
“So you some kind of…what?” Michael asked as he moved to stand next to her.
“Shapeshifter. That’s what they call us. You ok? Your head didn’t look so good back there.”

“I’m pretty hard headed. Just a scratch.” He said and rubbed his head. “I’ve been through worse.”
“How was she?” She asked and moved closer to him.
“Liz, she was confused. When we were all together she was fine, we were fine. Then they come and separate us. When I see her again, she loses it when I saw Max’s name.”

Maria looked off past Michael’s shoulder. When he turned to see what she was looking at he nearly stumbled when he felt himself being pulled forward by his shirt. When he turned back around, Maria crushed her lips to his. He was shocked but put his hands on her waist to steady himself.

“What…what are you doing?” He asked when he pulled back. Maria’s moist lips were almost enough to draw him back in.
“I was scared. Liz is hurt, we almost died. I just need…god can’t you think with your dick for now?” She asked and grabbed his right hand and placed it on her breast. “Just fuck me.”

Michael groaned and leaned in for another rough kiss. He could feel Maria’s nipple harden under his palm and he leaned down to capture it with his teeth through her shirt. Maria moaned and grabbed his head to keep it in place.
“Fuck me.” She growled and he moved, pushing her against a tree. Maria almost laughed in victory as he lifted her so she could wrap her legs around his waist. She arched her neck and Michael left her breast to suck on her neck.

Her fingers dug into his back almost painfully but he didn’t care. Michael sucked and licked her neck and kissed his way up to her big pouty lips. His hand reached down to join his other hand held Maria up by her ass and squeezed. His erection pressed against her core and she pushed herself closer to it.

Michael gasped and pulled back pushing Maria’s legs down. “What are you doing?” Maria asked. Her lips were red and swollen and Michael groaned at the site she made.
“Just…taking these off.” He said and motioned to her pants. Maria grinned and worked on removing her pants while Michael lowered his enough for his erection to spring free. Once she kicked off her pants, Michael lifted her back up against the tree.
“That’s it big boy,” Maria said as she felt his hard member press against her core.
“Are you sure?” Michael asked as he held his penis at her entrance. Maria merely nodded and pressed herself down onto him.

They both moaned in mutual pleasure as he slipped into her hot core. “God you’re tight,”
“Mmm, you feel so big. Man it’s been too long,” Maria moaned.
“You’re telling me,” Michael replied and crushed his lips against hers. Her head knocked back against the tree but Maria didn’t care as he thrust deeper and harder.

Michael knew he wasn’t going to last long. The sounds she was making and the way she clenched him from the inside insured that he would be done soon. So he reached down and again trapped her nipple between his teeth.
“Oh god!” Maria moaned, trying not to scream out in pleasure. “So close, Oh that feels so good Michael.”

Michael began to thrust harder and more erratically. He had lost total control and was now racing to completion. “Oh god, harder, Michael, almost there.” Maria pleaded.
“God, you’re killing me woman.” Michael groaned as he felt his orgasm crashing into him. Maria felt his warm seed coating her walls and lost it herself. She clamped down hard as she came.

“That was…” Michael struggled for breath and he let Maria’s leg down. His cock was slowly going down as it slipped out of Maria.
“Yeah,” Maria sighed, hoping she would be able to stand. When she was on her own feet, Michael leaned down and pressed his forehead. “We should get back.” Maria said.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Michael agreed and reluctantly pulled back, tucking himself back into his pants. Maria bent over and pulled up her own pants and gave Michael a wink before heading back towards the rest.

Michael shook his head as Maria walked away. He couldn’t deny that even if that was the most unexpected and quickest sex he’d ever had, it was by far the best. Since he had first kissed her on Liz’s ship he secretly hoped he would have the chance to do it again without an Antarian heat induced lust. He chuckled to himself and followed Maria.
