Liz somehow tuned out the hustle and bustle of the café as she went from table to table with little enthusiasm or pep. She took orders, dropped them off at the counter and poured the drinks.

Her mind was preoccupied with memories of the events of the previous night. When it was time for her break she trudged upstairs with the intention of flopping down on her bed and burying her head in her pillow for thirty minutes.

She pushed open the door and found Michael sitting on the end of her bed. Her head tilted to the side and a smile brushed across her mouth for the first time that day. Michael looked like she felt. But he was still the most beautiful thing she could think of to look at.

Liz walked over to Michael and immediately threaded her fingers in his fair. Michael pulled her down so she was straddling him and pulled her into a deep kiss. Liz sighed into his mouth and lost herself in the sweet sensations running rampant through her body.

Michael broke the kiss but didn’t release her. He pressed her tight against his chest and breathed in the scents of her. Her jasmine shampoo, her vanilla soap and the smell of fried foods from the diner. It was strangely arousing. Michael allowed his mind to wander for a few moments about ways he could use the Crashdown as a sexual location.

“You ok?” Liz asked a little confused about the dirty smile on her lover’s face.
“Me?” Michael blinked is surprise. “Fine. Why?”
“You were smiling?” Liz told him. “In a weird way.”
“Weird? Thanks.” Michael smirked.
“What were you thinking about?” Liz asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Extra curricular activities once the diner is closed.” Michael nuzzled Liz’s nose with his own in a suggestive manner.
“That explains the smile.” Liz teased him. “And my preference would be the front counter.”
“Mine too.” Michael growled. “But here will do for now.”

Michael turned and repositioned them so he was lying on top of Liz. He pulled open her uniform and made a mental note to add outfits to their fun at a later date. Liz groaned as Michael stripped her of her clothing. She returned the favour by pulling up his shirt and unzipping his jeans.

Michael eased himself inside of her and allowed her only a moment to settle before he pulled out of her and started their rhythm. He knew how to make her moan. He also knew that she needed to release all of the tension and anger and pain that had built up in her body from the night before.

Truth be told. He needed the same thing.

Liz dug her fingers into Michael’s shoulders in ecstasy. Her lips pressed soft but tender kisses to Michael’s jaw and mouth. She met his every thrust and ran her fingers through his hair; knowing that it aroused him.

It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t perfect. But at that moment it was everything.

Leaving a sleepy Michael on her bed Liz redressed and, after giving him a tender kiss, she walked back to the diner to finish her shift. Everyone noticed that Liz seemed to have perked up after she returned to work. But simply put it down her thirty minute break.

After her shift was finished and the Crashdown closed Liz sat for a few moments at the counter. She was certain that Michael had gone home after recovering. There was no reason for him to stay in the apartment even though her parents were away at a convention for a week.

Liz’s head dropped to her folded hands. She closed her eyes and rested her sore body. Twisting her head from side to side she tried to relieve the tension that had taken root in between her shoulder blades. She was surprisingly unsurprised when she felt two large hands rubbing and kneading her tense muscles.

Liz groaned in a combination of pain and relief. She sat up and rolled her shoulders as Michael’s gentle hands worked their magic. As Michael’s fingers rubbed the tops of her shoulders Liz suddenly leaned backwards and pressed against his chest. She took his hands and guided his hands down her chest.

“I know a better way.” Liz spoke in a sultry tone. “To ease my aching muscles.”
“Me too.” Michael grinned.

He spun the stool around so Liz was facing him. He leaned in to kiss her quickly before lifting her up and placing her on the counter. Confident that the blinds were closed and that they were perfectly alone.

Michael ran his hands up and down Liz’s torso gently caressing her breasts and hips through her uniform. He wanted to tease her until she broke – unfortunately Liz seemed to have had the same idea.

And she was winning.

Liz knew exactly how to break Michael. Every little erogenous zone in his body was well known to her. His neck under her gentle fingernail, the hollow of his neck under her tongue and most of all his calves under her toes.

She could feel him tense and groan under her sensual ministration. Liz tugged at the hem of his shirt and pulled it over his head. His jeans were about to be dropped to the floor but Michael regained some control over his flushed body.

Michael pressed her back against the counter so she was lying down. Michael caressed her thighs knowing how sensitive they were for her. His hand ran up to her underwear to remove it. Only to be pleasantly surprised to find that she wasn’t wearing any.

Growling Michael smirked at the satisfied look in Liz’s eyes. Spurred on Michael ripped open Liz’s uniform for the second time that day. He loved that Jeff had chosen to have poppers on the uniforms. Although he doubted that he had considered this use for them.

Michael kissed Liz’s navel and licked her belly button before trailing his tongue down to her most tender and intimate flesh. Liz’s back arched off of the counter as the sensations from Michael’s pleasurable caresses caused involuntary reactions. Small desperate noises emitted from Liz’s throat as the excruciating pleasure got too much.

“Baby.” Liz rasped. “I want you to come with me.”
“I will.” Michael promised, he enjoyed the control he had over her and her pleasure.

An uncomfortable knot formed in his stomach as he shot back and sat down on the stool. Liz was surprised by the sudden end of her pleasure. She raised her head and saw the look of consternation on Michael’s face.

“I’m sorry.” Michael whispered in embarrassment.
“What’s wrong?” Liz asked in concern.

She sat up and pulled her uniform around her naked body. Jumping down from the counter Liz cupped Michael’s face with her hands and kissed him gently on the lips.

“Tell me.” Liz pressed gently.
“I don’t know.” Michael looked away in shame.
“Michael.” Liz pushed. “Everything was going well. At least from my point of view. Then I said I wanted you to come with me and you said you would. Then it stopped.”
“Can we not?” Michael protested. Michael stood up to walk away then stopped. “I really don’t want to talk about it.”
“Is it about what you remember?” Liz didn’t want that subject to be a white elephant in the room between them.
“I… Yes.” Michael stuttered.
“You thought you were controlling me?” Liz guessed.

Michael hung his head. Liz walked towards him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Am I some weak female who is incapable of saying what I want or need?” Liz demanded.
“What?” Michael was confused.
“Do you think that I am going to let you do something that I am not comfortable with?” Liz cried. “Do you think that little of me?”
“Of course not.” Michael protested. “I can’t…”
“Can’t what?” Liz pushed.
“Hurt you.” Michael cried.
“Then don’t.” Liz stated plainly.
“But.” Michael protested.
“But nothing.” Liz guided Michael back to the counter and made him sit down on the stool. “I have powers. More than you. If we were ever in a situation where I felt the need to use my powers against you; believe me I would. But it would never happen.”
“How do you know that?” Michael’s body relaxed against hers.
“Because I know you.” Liz stated with an obvious look on her face. “Now stop feeling sorry for yourself and finish ravishing me.”

Michael smiled into Liz’s neck.

Liz had decided that the complete foursquare needed to meet to ensure that their powers would allow them to connect and use one another’s powers. Michael had been adamant that only the four of them should be there. Liz had been less than convinced.

The next morning Liz walked over to the Evans’ residence an hour before the four Royals were due to meet at the granolith chamber. She tapped on Isabel’s window and waited for her to answer.

“What’s wrong?” Isabel panicked as she pulled open the window.
“Nothing.” Liz reassured her.

Liz swung her leg over the window sill and tried to climb into Isabel’s room whilst trying to retain a shred of dignity and grace.

“Why are you here?” Isabel wondered aloud.
“I wanted to talk to you about something.” Liz stated as she sat down on Isabel’s bed.
“But nothing is wrong.” Isabel demanded.
“Everything is fine.” Liz smiled gently. “Michael, Max, Tess and I are going to meet in about an hour at the granolith chamber to work on the foursquare.”
“Oh.” Isabel blanched.
“Michael is adamant that only the four of us should be there.” Liz started.
“Why?” Isabel asked sorrowfully.
“Because I got hurt.” Liz explained. “Michael doesn’t want anyone there who doesn’t have to be there.”
“I can understand that.” Isabel admitted.
“I still want to give you the option to come with us.” Liz added. “I don’t want you to feel excluded or forced out.”
“Thank you.” Isabel smiled warmly.

Liz could still see her eyes water slightly.

“Will you come?” Liz asked.
“Is it a wise idea to piss Michael off?” Isabel smirked.
“If you think I can’t handle Michael you are sorely mistaken.” Liz grinned with a raised eyebrow.
“The two of you seem to be doing well.” Isabel smiled genuinely.
“Things are going well.” Liz glowed. “Not that things are perfect.”
“What’s wrong?” Isabel asked in concern.

Liz hesitated. She didn’t want to do anything to harm Isabel’s relationship with Michael during the short time that they had left on Earth. So she decided against it.

“Rath was having a…” Liz struggled to find the right words. “An unorthodox relationship with someone on Antar when he and I were married.”

Isabel blanched.

“How long have you know about it?” Liz was shocked to learn that Isabel was aware of Vilandra’s relationship with Rath.
“I had dreams about Antar.” Isabel stuttered. “I had assumed that the man was Kivar. When I found out it was Rath…”
“You face says it all.” Liz grimaced in commiseration.
“What happened?” Isabel asked. “How did you find out?”
“Michael told me.” Liz revealed. “He had a dream about my death and saw it.”
“Oh God.” Isabel groaned as she buried her face in her hands.
“Tell me what you know.” Liz pressed.
“What?” Isabel gasped in horror.
“We both know that Michael won’t tell me.” Liz explained. “He doesn’t want to dwell on this.”
“Tell me about it.” Isabel muttered.
“He freaked out on me yesterday.” Liz confessed.
“Why?” Isabel asked in concern. Michael wasn’t one to freak out.
“He is terrified of controlling me.” Liz admitted. “He doesn’t want to hurt me.”
“Oh.” Isabel sighed. “Yeah I can see that.”
“Tell me what you remember.” Liz pushed.

Isabel took a deep breath and expelled it slowly.

“He was handsome.” Isabel looked through Liz as though seeing her memories replayed before her very eyes. “Powerful. Charming.”
“Not that you have a type.” Liz teased.

Isabel snorted in agreement.

“He flirted with me and I had a huge crush on him.” Isabel admitted. “He was Zan’s friend and a very powerful member of the court.”
“And.” Liz could see that this was not easy for Isabel but something told her that she needed to know the whole story.
“After his father was killed Rath came to the palace.” Isabel fixed her gaze on the floor. “He was angry and upset. And he found me.”

Isabel frowned as she took a few deep breaths.

“He was frustrated. I could see that.” Isabel confessed. “And I pushed him. I knew that he was married and happy but I wanted him. So I took him.”
“It takes two to tango - as they say.” Liz reassured her. “You can’t take full responsibility for what happened.”
“It wasn’t pretty.” Isabel rushed out.
“I know.” Liz admitted. “Michael told me that it was S&M-esque.”
“He kept coming back to me.” Isabel whispered. “I revelled in it. Every bruise and mark I felt was proof of his… ownership of me. He was marking me as his.”
“How old were you?” Liz asked.
“Around 16 or 17.” Isabel said.
“Yikes.” Liz groaned. “How old was Rath?”
“Late 20s.” Isabel admitted.
“Christ.” Liz cried. “So let me see if I can guess the rest. I was killed. Rath was betrothed to Vilandra. Rath was less than active in the union. He felt guilty about my death and the loss of our son. You were spurned and neglected. Kivar pounced and filled the void and manipulated you into betraying your family.”

Isabel nodded, her head hung in shame.

“Whew.” Liz gasped.

Later that morning Liz arrived at the granolith chamber along with Max and Isabel in the Jeep. She could see Michael’s blood pressure rise when he saw Isabel sitting in the back. Liz walked over to Michael and kissed him quickly on the lips.

“What the hell is Izzy doing here?” Michael demanded with wide eyes.
“Do you want to go over there and tell her that she is excluded from this?” Liz shot back. She waited a beat before continuing. “I didn’t think so. Besides she has powers and can defend herself.”

Liz squeezed Michael’s bicep before turning and walking towards Isabel.

“Putty in my hands.” Liz gloated.
“Apparently.” Isabel smirked.

Isabel walked over to Michael feeling lighter than she had in a while. Knowing that Liz knew the truth, even if Michael didn’t, was reassuring.

“I know that you are not comfortable with me being here.” Isabel stated.
“It’s not that…” Michael interjected.
“I know.” Isabel reassured him. “You don’t want anyone else to get hurt. But don’t worry about me. I will be fine.”
“Good.” Michael nodded curtly.
“God you are so whipped.” Isabel giggled.
“I am not.” Michael protested.
“Yes you are.” Isabel argued.
“I know.” Michael sighed.

Isabel threw her arms around her brother and laughed. Quite possibly for the first time in over a week. Michael reciprocated the gesture and his tense shoulders relaxed slightly. Isabel could feel the slight tremor of Michael’s laughter.

Liz smiled as she saw the interaction between Michael and Isabel. The two of them joined Liz, Max and Tess and the group of five walked towards the granolith chamber.

Thanks for the feedback.

The Royal Four sat around the Granolith with Isabel standing in the alcove. The scene was identical to the last time they had visited the chamber – only with Liz occupying the place Isabel had sat.

With eyes closed the four seated aliens soon fell into a similar breathing pattern. They opened their eyes to find themselves standing in an empty space.

“Where are we?” Max asked.
“We are in our minds.” Liz explained. “A place where the four of us can exist together but not overpower one another.”
“But it’s empty.” Tess stated. “It didn’t used to be.”
“We will create this space together.” Liz answered. “It will take time but soon this will be very comfortable and useful.”
“A place of complete isolation.” Michael stated appreciatively.
“Exactly.” Liz added. “This space is sacred. To us and the plans and ideas that will be created here.”
“So this proves it.” Max whispered. “We are the Royal Four.”
“I hope you’re not disappointed.” Liz spoke softly.
“Losing Izzy will be painful. But having you here will make that easier.” Max smiled warmly.
“Thank you.” Liz smiled back at him.
“So Michael.” Max announced unexpectedly. “I think given that you are the artistic one that you use your powers to give us somewhere to sit.”
“Me” Michael asked warily.
“I think that’s a good idea.” Tess chimed in. “I think you have the clearest vision so it’s up to you.”
“Just think of something like a sofa or some chairs where we can sit together.” Liz advised as she walked over to Michael and took his hand in hers.

Michael closed his eyes and envisioned two sofas in the middle of the empty space. They were big enough for two people to sit on each. For some reason they were red in his imagination. He opened his eyes and saw his mental image recreated exactly in front of him.

“That’s cool.” He muttered is awe.

Liz dragged him over to one of the sofas and pulled him down into the over stuffed softness of the red cushions. They were perfect. Michael sat with his back into the corner and pulled Liz against him so they were cuddled up together.

Tess and Max had occupied the other seat by the time Michael and Liz had gotten comfortable. They were still uneasy around each other. Max noticed the sympathetic glance that passed from Liz to Tess. He was a bit confused by it.

“So what’s going on” Michael asked.

The others turned to him in surprise not thinking for one moment that Michael would ever be the first to broach a difficult and uncomfortable subject.
“Well” Michael pushed. “Have the two of you even talked about what this means?”
“What what means?” Max asked uncomfortably.
“Liz and I are together.” Michael stated bluntly. “In case you hadn’t noticed.”

Liz snickered and snuggled back against her lover.

“We have chosen to do this not because we were married in our previous lives.” Michael continued as he wrapped his arms more tightly around the petit woman in his arms. “We have chosen to do this because we are attracted to each other in this life. We know that we can work in this life.”

He paused to look at Max and Tess closely.

“The question is.” He added. “Can the two of you work in this life?”
“It is a lot to put on you guys.” Liz didn’t want them to feel ambushed. “I also don’t think this is something that Michael and I need to be a part of.”
“Yes we do.” Michael butted in. “It affects us too.”
“Ha.” Liz snorted. “Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot. Imagine that Max was pushing you to make a decision about rest of your life.”
“Okay.” Michael said slowly. “Fair enough.”
“He’s not wrong.” Liz conceded. “The two of you actually need to have this conversation. But you need to have it in private.”
“I guess we do.” Tess spoke softly.
“Michael and I are going to go.” Liz stated. “We’ll leave the two of you here alone.”

Liz stood up and pulled Michael with her.

“We expect this place to be as pristine as we made it.” Michael threw at Max and Tess. “You stain it you make a new one.”
“Quiet.” Liz laughed at she gave Tess an apologetic look.

The two of them disappeared leaving a highly uncomfortable Tess and fidgety Max.

Enjoy.

“Well this is awkward.” Max muttered.
“Yeah.” Tess knotted her fingers in the sleeve of her jumper.
“Michael and Liz make it seem easy.” Max added with a fleeting smirk.
“Liz tends to make things look easy.” Tess chuckled. “It’s one of the best yet most annoying things about her.”
“What are you thinking?” Max asked as his body shifted slightly towards the young woman who was sitting beside him. The young woman he realised he hardly knew.
“Oh sure.” Tess teased. “Make me go first.”
“Sorry.” Max said contritely. He took a deep breath and spoke. He didn’t know if he was making any sense or if what he was saying was even pertinent to their conversation. “I have been so focused on Liz for so long that… I don’t even know how much of it was real. Did Liz and I take a walk along a desert trail or was it something I just made up. In my head. How much was real?”
“What do you mean?” Tess asked in confusion.
“I find it difficult to distinguish between what really happened between me and Liz.” Max stuttered in embarrassment. “And what was fantasy.”
“I know that things between you and Liz were really intense.” Tess conceded. “Liz was… she made you feel like you belonged here. I envy that.”
“When we finally got together I thought that everything would be amazing.” Max admitted. “And it really was. For a while.”
“What happened?” Tess asked.
“I now know that it was Michael and her memories of her past with him that distracted her.” Max stated. “I never felt that she was all mine. Wholly. Now I know why.”
“That doesn’t sound…” Tess was unsure of how to continue.
“Healthy?” Max snorted.
“Yeah.” Tess grimaced. “I… I guess that the question is whether you are ready or able to move past Liz. And maybe see me.”

Tess hung her head embarrassed by her own admission.

“But it’s not all about me.” Max said firmly. “It can’t be. What do you think?”

Tess sank back against the sofa cushions and pulled her legs up to her chest.

“I guess I am in a kind of similar situation.” Tess confessed. “Nacedo told me my whole life of you and that you would be my family and I would finally belong.”

She exhaled slowly as if trying to purge her system of something. Max couldn’t figure out what.

“He said that you would know me and recognise me and that Isabel would love me and Michael would protect me.” Tess whispered. She coughed and blinked. “But that didn’t happen.”
“We were wary.” Max confessed. “Of anybody new.”
“I know.” Tess conceded. “I didn’t make it any easier for you to trust me. Nacedo and I were trying to manipulate the situation, which didn’t really endear me to anybody.”
“It was pretty hard all round.” Max admitted.
“I’m afraid of being rejected again.” Tess admitted.
“You won’t be.” Max promised. “I don’t know what will happen between the two of us but I know that Liz is very fond of you. And I think that you are fond of her too.”

Tess nodded.

“You will always belong to our little family.” Max continued. “We just have to figure out what our roles will be.”
“I don’t think that either of us wants to commit fully to a partnership or relationship or marriage” Tess spoke clearly. “At least not yet.”
“It too soon.” Max nodded.
“But I think that it is an option.” Tess smiled.
“Me too.” Max leaned back into the sofa next to Tess. “A good one.”

Tess looked into Max’s eyes and felt… for the first time in her life… safe.

The latest update. Things are coming slowly at the moment because I am still not sure where this story is going.

Apologies
***********************************************
“How do you think things are going between Max and Tess?” Isabel asked in concern.

The other three aliens were sitting outside in the warmth of the sun waiting for Tess and Max to finish their conversation.

“I think that it will be ok.” Michael replied. “Max will suck any ease out of the conversation and it will be painful as hell but Tess will sort it out.”
“You’re just full of charm today.” Liz mocked at her surly lover.
“Well.” Michael shrugged.
“He’s got a point.” Isabel smirked. “Max can make even the simplest tasks long and drawn out.”
“He just needs to let go and accept that his future is with Tess.” Liz explained. “Everything else will just wash away.”
“Or he’ll be in denial and not be able to accept that you are mine and not his.” Michael grumbled.
“Considering how he has been.” Liz shot back. “He has already accepted that I am with you. Let’s face it. How he and Maria have reacted have made this a whole lot easier for us.”

Michael didn’t answer her. He just buried his face in Liz’s hair as she rolled her eyes in Isabel’s direction.

“How are you doing?” Liz asked Isabel.
“I’m ok.” She replied. “I quite like that my life is more certain. I can look at colleges and do all of the things that my beloved brothers have been vehemently opposed to.”
“Ooh. Such as?” Liz giggled.
“Modelling contract.” Isabel stated. “Travelling. It would be nice to see a little but more of my home planet. I like that I get to stay with my Mum and Dad.”
“Do you think that you are going to tell them?” Liz asked. She could feel Michael tense behind her.
“I don’t know.” Isabel admitted. “I want to be honest with them. But it’s not as though I don’t have people here who know me. Truly know me.”
“People like… Kyle?” Liz smirked.
“What?” Michael demanded.

Isabel flushed.

“You and Kyle?” Michael demanded. “There is no way in hell I am trusting Buddha boy with my sister.”

Liz and Isabel exchanged bemused glances and burst out laughing.

“Liz can you talk him round for me.” Isabel grinned.
“Sure.” Liz tossed back at her.
“Excuse me.” Michael thundered. “Liz doesn’t change my mind for me. I am still my own man.”

Liz winked at Isabel.

“Of course you are, honey.” Liz purred into Michael’s ear. “All man.”
“Don’t do that.” Michael grumbled. “Don’t think you can manipulate me.”
“Sweetie.” Liz cooed. “I don’t think I can manipulate you.”
“She knows she can.” Isabel finished for her.

Liz raised her hand, which Isabel high-fived.

“What’s going on?” Max asked as he and Tess emerged from the Granolith chamber.
“I’m being ganged up on.” Michael complained.
“By two women?” Tess teased. “How rough for you?”
“Apparently I can be easily manipulated by Liz.” Michael groused. “Just because I am not thrilled at the prospect of my sister dating Kyle Valenti.”
“Izzy and Kyle?” Max growled.
“What is everyone’s problem with Kyle?” Liz wondered aloud.
“He’s Kyle.” Michael cried as though that explained everything.
“He’s sweet.” Liz protested.
“He’s kind and respectful.” Tess added.
“The guy can kiss.” Isabel sighed with a small smile.
“Yes he can.” Liz admitted.

She turned to see Michael shooting a deadly glare at her.

“Well he can.” Liz shrugged.

Later on Liz was still getting the silent treatment from Michael. He had dropped her off at the Crashdown and had headed home. Liz had given him a few hours calm down before venturing over to Michael’s apartment.

She knocked on the door several times but got no response. She used her powers to open the front door and enter the apartment silently. She knew that Michael was there but couldn’t see him in the living room.

She pushed open the door to Michael’s bedroom and found him passed out on his bed. A smile spread across her face as she sat down next to his prostrate form. He was still clothed with his boots at the end of the bed. He slept like a baby – with both arms above his head. The length of his hair meant that it had started to curl. She was eternally grateful that he had cut the awful mullet that he had been sporting for so long. He looked peaceful. And gorgeous.

Liz gently laid her hand on his taught stomach. She could feel his muscles through the thin fabric of his t-shirt. It turned her on. Her hand ran lightly over his torso, following the contours of his body. Liz was so focused on tracing Michael’s muscles that she failed to notice that he had woken up.

“Hi.” Michael whispered.

Liz’s head shot up in surprise. She smiled as her face flushed.

“Hi.” She purred. Taking advantage of Michael’s current position Liz straddled his hips and looked down at him. “What’s going on?”
“What do you mean?” Michael asked. He was still a little groggy and waking up to find Liz’s hands running over his body had done nothing to clear his head.
“You freaking out about Kyle.” Liz pressed.
“I didn’t freak out.” Michael protested. He raised himself up on his elbows.
“Nobody would do more to protect Izzy than Kyle. You know that.” Liz added. “He’s your best friend.”
“Yeah he is.” Michael bit out.
“Oh. So you’re mad that something was going on between your sister and best friend and they didn’t tell you about it.” Liz stated.
“Exactly.” Michael announced. “Wait… what?”

Liz just looked at him with an eyebrow raised.

“I’m just a big hypocrite aren’t I?” Michael muttered as he scrunched up his face.
“Yup.” Liz smirked as she leaned down to kiss him softly. “But fortunately for you I love in spite of it.”

Michael sat up and wrapped his arms around Liz’s waist.

“Do I have to apologise to Izzy?” Michael wondered.
“She would probably have a stroke if you did.” Liz laughed. “It is kind of out of character.”
“Thanks.” Michael snorted as he buried his face in her breasts.

Without warning he rolled them over so he was lying on top of Liz. He captured her mouth in his and kissed her until he was breathless.

“I love you.” Michael whispered.
“I love you.” Liz assured him.
“Do you know when we have to leave?” Michael asked.
“Leave?” Liz questioned. “Oh. You mean leave Earth.”

Michael nodded.

“No.” Liz admitted. “It is something we need to speak to Larek about. The Granolith will take us back so I know how.”
“Do you think we should tell Larek that we are returning?” Michael pondered.
“In case there is an ambush?” Liz guessed.
“Yeah.” Michael’s brow furrowed.
“Good thinking.” Liz nodded as best she could in her position.
“We need to speak to the group and decide when we can leave.” Michael added.
“That can wait until tomorrow.” Liz smiled.

She pulled at Michael’s shirt and removed it from the body she had been caressing earlier. Liz captured his lips and pulled him down on top of her. She hooked her legs over his hips and sought to remove any and all thoughts from his mind.

All eight members of the group were congregated for the first time since Michael’s vision at the Granolith chamber. Liz didn’t fail to notice how close Isabel and Kyle were standing, much to Michael’s annoyance. Liz could tell by his tense shoulders that he was still uncomfortable with Isabel and Kyle’s non-relationship.

“Liz and I were talking yesterday about going home.” Michael announced.
“What? Already?” Maria gasped.
“It’s not that we want to leave as soon as possible.” Liz tried to calm her friend down. “We can’t with good conscious let the situation on Antar continue.”
“Not if there is something we can do about it.” Michael added.
“The Granolith will take us home.” Liz stated. “Michael and I are concerned about alerting Antar of our arrival.”
“Why?” Isabel asked.
“Ambush.” Michael replied succinctly.
“We’re not entirely sure who we can trust.” Liz added.
“When are we going to leave?” Tess asked.
“That’s what we’re here to discuss.” Liz replied.
“I can’t believe that this is happening so soon.” Alex muttered.
“Amen to that.” Kyle tried to smile but couldn’t.

An uncomfortable silence engulfed the clammy room.

“I don’t think that there is an ideal time for us to go.” Max stated. “The only thing holding me back is not wanting to leave Izzy.”
“You can’t use me as an excuse to not leave.” Isabel interjected. “I don’t want you to leave either but you have to.”
“I’m not using you as an excuse.” Max protested. “We haven’t been separated for a day since we arrived here on Earth. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you.”
“Me either.” Michael whispered.

Isabel’s eyes shone with tears.

“I’m okay.” Isabel smiled a watery smile. “I will be okay. I am not alone here. I have friends and I have Mum and Dad. I worry about the four of you. You’re the ones going off to war. Not me.”
“You will be the only alien on Earth.” Tess protested.
“I’m not all alien.” Isabel replied. “I’m half human too.”
“I think we should tell your parents the truth.” Liz stated.

Seven pairs of wide eyes immediately shot towards the petit brunette.

“Huh?” Max’s jaw dropped. “Are you serious?”
“You said that earlier” Michael admitted. “I thought you were kidding.”
“I think that if Isabel is going to be here on her own, the least we can do is give her the best support network that we can.” Liz stated passionately, ignoring Michael’s jibe.
“I would really love to tell them.” Isabel said. “But I’m afraid.”

The group fell silent for a few moments trying to digest what it was that Liz was suggesting. Whilst no-one wanted to deny Isabel the chance of having her family know the truth about her; they were concerned. Philip had investigated Max’s life after he put out the oil fire in his family’s kitchen. The Sheriff’s own investigation had further inflamed Philip’s suspicions.
“I realise that this will be a complete U-turn from everything you have ever decided to do.” Liz continued. “Isabel needs a support system. I will not leave her here alone. I know that she has Kyle, Alex and Maria… but that’s not everything she needs.”
“Or wants.” Kyle added. He looked over at Isabel with understanding. “I know how important it is to have my dad around.”
“Okay.” Michael muttered. “This may not be the case but what happens if they react badly?”
“It won’t.” Max spoke softly.
“What makes you so certain?” Tess asked.
“They adore Isabel.” Max stated looking at his sister with profound affection. “Dad will be the problem but since Izzy has him wrapped around her little finger…”
“You think if it was you that it would be different?” Maria asked in concern.
“Yeah.” Max whispered as he ducked his head in embarrassment.
“Max.” Isabel admonished gently. “That’s not true. If anything you’re a Mummy’s boy.”
“That’s true.” Michael chimed in. “I was a little creeped out about it for a while.”
“Thanks.” Max allowed a small smile to flicker across his lips.

But his doubts remained.

To say that Philip and Diane Evans were surprised to see their children and their six friends congregated with the Sheriff in their living room… didn’t even cover it. They rarely saw the whole group together – but their house had never been somewhere where the group of friends had gathered.

At Max’s insistence the two confused adults were seated across from the group.

Silence descended.

“I think we can all see that you re surprised to see us.” Liz smiled gently trying to put Philip and Diane at ease. “The reason we are here is to tell you some… to give you some fantastical information.”
“Like what?” Philip was highly confused. The presence of the Sheriff was causing him real concern.

The group exchanged glances but nobody took control of the conversation away from Liz.

“What the hell is going on?” Philip demanded.
“Philip.” Diane placed a gentle hand on her husband’s knee. “We are really concerned. Frightened even. Please just let us know what is going on.”
“Max, Michael, Tess and I are leaving.” Liz continued. “We are going away and we can’t return.”

Maria gave out a small sob but forced it back into her throat with an apologetic grimace.

“Why?” Diane gasped.
“Okay.” Philip rose from the chair in anger. “Too long have your mother and I sat idly by and trusted you to make your own decisions Max. Too long. I want answers and I want them now.”
“This isn’t Max’s doing.” Liz protested. “This situation is currently out of our control. We don’t want to leave. We don’t want to leave Isabel here alone.”
“Why isn’t Izzy going with you?” Diane asked perplexed by the entire conversation.
“I want to stay here.” Isabel announced quietly. “With you and Daddy.”

After a few moments of silence Philip looked over at the Sheriff who had been silent along with most of the group.

“Jim.” Philip begged. “What the hell is going on?”
“I think it’s better if the kids tell you.” Jim spoke gently but authoritatively. “I am just here to confirm that everything they are telling you is the gospel truth.”
“And just what is the truth?” Philip asked in despair.
“You investigated Max.” Liz stated. “We know you did. You must have assumed that something wasn’t quite right. What did you find out?”
“Nothing.” Philip admitted.
“You did what?” Diane asked aghast.
“Something was wrong.” Philip defended himself. “And Max was never going to tell us what. He doesn’t trust us.”
“I never felt like I had that luxury.” Max spoke so softly that Philip could only tell that he had spoken by the slight reddening of his son’s ears.
“Why not?” Diane pressed in trepidation.
“Because.” Max sighed. “You wouldn’t have believed me. If you did… If you had…”
“What?” Philip bellowed. “What? We would have what?”
“Disowned us.” Max spat out in anger. “You don’t know. You can’t know.” He shot to his feet and addressed his father with venom. “We were terrified of what you would do. Izzy wanted you to know the truth but I didn’t trust that you could handle it. You found us and picked us up and you never wondered how we got stuck out in the desert! Naked and alone?”
“Max.” Liz rose and placed a gentle hand against his chest guiding him back to the chair. “Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess were abandoned before they were born.” Liz explained.
“Before?” Philip asked in confusion. “How is that possible?”
“Because we’re not human?” Michael bit out in frustration. This conversation was like waiting for a fuse to light a stick of dynamite. “At least not entirely.”
“What?” Diane gasped.

Everyone froze. Michael immediately regretted the words once they had left his mouth. The look on Diane Evan’s face was one of complete and utter shock. It appeared as though it had never crossed her mind that her children could be so different. The look on Philip’s face however…

For the first time in her life Isabel feared her father. Truly feared him.

Max felt crushed by the knowledge that he had been right. That his ‘parents’ were unable to accept the enormity of their secret.

“I know that this is huge.” Liz spoke softly, trying to calm the room. “There are no words that describe what you are feeling right now.”

Liz knew that her husband was feeling lower than he ever felt possible. His big mouth. It had a habit of screwing him over. She also knew that there was nothing she or anyone else could say that could make him feel worse. So she decided to make him feel a bit better. Liz stood and manoeuvred herself onto Michael’s lap and wrapped an arm around his shoulders. Michael buried his head in the crook of her neck. Liz could feel his lips moving against her throat in a silent apology.

“Max, Isabel, Michael, Tess and I are from a planet called Antar.” Liz continued. “We were killed by an enemy who challenged Max’s claim to the throne.”
“Throne?” Diane croaked.
“Max was King of Antar.” Liz explained with a soft smile. “Isabel his sister. Michael was his second in command and leader of the Armed Forces. Tess was Max’s wife. And I was Michael’s.”
“Are.” Michael whispered in her ear.
“The traitor named Kivar took control of Antar after we were killed.” Liz added. “He is still in control today and we need to return to Antar to stop him.”
“Daddy.” Isabel whispered tremulously. “Please say something.”
“Ungh.” Philip gasped.
“Mum?” Max’s eyes flitted quickly between his mother and the plush carpet.
“I…” Diane stuttered. “I can’t believe… How?”
“We were reproduced.” Liz explained. “Genetically. Our DNA was spliced with human DNA from donors from Earth. We have the knowledge, memories and powers of our previous selves.”
“Powers?” Philip asked sharply.
“We have powers that we as the Royal Four, Max, Tess, Michael and myself can use to protect ourselves. Hopefully better than last time.” Liz added with a small smile.
“What can you do?” Diane asked looking less faint.
“Max can heal. I speak from personal experience as he healed me after I was shot. He saved my life. He can also produce a force shield that can stop bullets and any other sort of projectile weapon. Isabel has more empathic powers. She can sense emotions from people, strong emotions like fear or pain. She can also enter your subconscious mind. Once when Max was hurt and unconscious Isabel was able to enter his mind and help him come back to us.”

Liz paused to take a better and closer look at her captive audience. The Sheriff was sitting calmly in the corner but Liz could tell that he was ever watchful of Philip Evans in case he made a sudden move. The humans amongst the group were obviously feeling ill at ease. Isabel was tenuously trying to connect with her distant father across the living room. Max was focussed on his knotted fingers. Tess leaned against him for protection and comfort. Michael had one hand rested on Liz’s stomach and the other ready at his side in case the situation should call for it.

“Tess has the ability to alter what people see. In the presence of an enemy she can make us invisible.” Liz continued. “Michael is our protector. He, as the General of the Armed Forces, is greatly respected on Antar. He keeps us safe.”

“Oh.” Diane whispered. “Can you show us?”
“Isabel.” Liz stated gently. “Why don’t you show your Mum and Dad some of the stuff you can do?” Turning back to Diane and Philip, Liz continued to tell her tale. “We have other powers as well. We can all alter the molecular structure of items as well.”

Diane and Philip looked over to Isabel in trepidation. With a scared look at her brother Isabel took a deep breath and sat up straight. Her face was pointing in the direction of her parents but her eyes were unfocused. She was too afraid to see the expressions on her parents’ faces.

A vase was positioned on the table that sat between the two groups. It was a blue vase with pink fabric flowers. With a wave of her hand the flowers became real lilies with a beautiful perfume. The vase became white. Philip and Diane sat back in astonishment.

“Oh my God.” Philip breathed.
“We’re not lying.” Liz promised. “We have been hiding. For a long time. There are people out there who want to hurt us. Alien hunters. Enthusiasts. The US Government.”
“The Government?” Philip asked in concern.
“A branch of the FBI.” Liz clarified. “They’re called the ‘Special Unit’. They are obsessed with the search and eradication of any and all of us.”
“Are you sure?” Diane gasped.
“Yeah.” Michael spat out.
“We have met them.” Liz clarified. “Some of us closer than others.” Liz shot a sideways glance at Max. She could feel Michael tense his shoulders as his arms pulled her close to him.
“Max?” Philip asked in concern. “What happened?”
“Doesn’t matter.” Max replied dismissively still unable to meet his father’s eye.
“Yes it does.” Diane exclaimed. “What happened? Did they hurt you?”
“They took him.” Michael ground out. “They strapped him to a metal table in a military base buried out in the desert and they played doctor.”

Philip looked sick.

“Without anaesthetic.” Michael added with a growl.
“God.” Diane’s eyes were wide and horrified. She jumped out of her seat and rushed over to her son. She sat on the arm of the sofa and pulled Max into a maternal embrace. Tears ran down her face and wetted Max’s black hair. The group seemed to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Only the Sheriff noticed that Philip was still to react in a positive manner.

Hope you are feeling better Kiara.

And everyone else out there suffering from a seasonal infection.
***************************************
Out on the porch, Jim and Philip sat on the swing in silence. With a silent nod Jim had suggested that he and Philip excuse themselves and talk man-to-man. Nothing had been said between the two men for five full minutes. Finally Philip broke.

“How could you keep this from me?” Philip roared. “I came to you. I asked you for help with understanding my son. You lied to me.”
“I protected your son.” Jim stated with conviction. “I protected him… from you.”
“From me?” Philip was speechless.
“Diane could have accepted this.” Jim continued. “But not you. A mother’s love can never be questioned. But a father’s can.”
“I love my children.” Philip cried indignantly.
“You investigated your own son.” Jim shot back. “How is that love?”
“He wouldn’t have told me the truth.” Philip shot back in defence.
“And you wonder why?” Jim retorted. “You don’t immediately get the information you are looking for so you set out to discover the whole truth. Whether or not you are deserving of the whole truth.”
“Deserving?” Philip’s mouth gaped. “Deserving? My son has never been straight with me. He has never told me the truth.”
“Neither has your daughter.” Jim interrupted. “You conveniently seem to forget that.”
“Isabel would have told me.” Philip retorted. “Max made her promise not to. I guarantee you that.”
“Why are you so hell bent on villain-ising your son?” Jim demanded. “Where is this anger towards him coming from?”
“Do you have any idea what he has put his mother through?” Philip cried in frustration. “The worrying. The panic. Not knowing where he was or what he was doing. The nights she has cried herself to sleep. He has no idea what he has done to this family.”

Jim was stunned by what he was hearing. He realised that the two of them could get into a long and drawn out argument very quickly and very easily.

“Liz got shot in the Crashdown.” Jim lowered the tone and volume of his voice. “Max saved her life. She became involved with the group and brought Maria and Alex with her. Kyle was sore about his relationship with Liz ending and her new relationship with Max and was determined to bring Max down a peg or two.”

Philip listened to Jim half interested in what he was saying. The other half of him was disgusted with himself for having expressed so much anger that was directed at his son.

“Things came to a head after Max was tortured by the FBI.” Jim continued, getting Philip’s full attention. “I had been brought into the fold. I carried out my own investigation after the grease fire that Max put out in your kitchen. It was an uneasy cease-fire let me tell you.”
“They trusted you but not me.” Philip muttered.
“What I am about to tell you happened within a very short time frame.” Jim answered. “The group came to me for help finding Max after he was taken. We were able to find him. Or should I say that Michael was able to find him. We got one of the FBI agents and held him in the UFO Museum. Chaos ensued and shots were fired.”
“What happened?” Philip could see the distress on his friend’s face.
“Kyle wasn’t in the loop at that time.” Jim’s face was taught and white. “He knew that something was going on and had snuck into the museum to spy on us. He was hit by a stray bullet.”
“Jesus.” Philip gasped.
“From my gun.” Jim added in a whisper. “Had it not been for Max…Kyle would have died.”

Silence once again engulfed the porch. Jim was trying to swallow the grief that consumed him every time he thought about how close he came to losing his son. Philip was horrified.

“How could we not know that this was going on?” Philip gasped. “How could we have been so blind?”
“They need you.” Jim placed a friendly hand on Philip’s shoulder. “Max hates the idea of leaving Isabel. It was Liz who suggested telling you and Diane the truth. She knows how difficult it will be for Max and Michael to leave their sister behind. The only way they can leave is if they know that Isabel is taken care of.”
“Liz holds some sway doesn’t she?” Philip mused.
“She does.” Jim smirked. “Thank God. Trying to get through to this group is like twelve angry men. Liz is the common sense.”
“What the hell am I supposed to do” Philip wondered aloud.
“You decide.” Jim replied. “You decide whether or not you can accept the truth. Whether or not you can promise Max that Isabel will be safe here with you and Diane.”
“I love Isabel.” Philip stated firmly. “She and I have always had a close relationship. With Max…”
“He takes on full responsibility for the group.” Jim interjected. “As does Michael. The boys are guarded and difficult to connect with.”
“Liz seems to have had no trouble.” Philip mused.
“Max fell in love with Liz aged five. He was the one who brought Liz into the group and convinced the others to trust her.” Jim explained. “She is something special. She has a quality about her that makes her easy to trust.”
“I’m lost here, Jim.” Philip admitted.
“Do you love your son?” Jim questioned.
“Yes.” Philip nodded.
“Do you love you daughter?” Jim continued
“Yes.” Philip stated in exasperation.
“When Max and the others leave will you do everything in your power to protect and love your daughter?” Jim finished.
“Yes.” Philip lowered his head. “Thank you.”
“At the end of the day that is all that matters.” Jim sat back in the swing. “You are a father. It’s your job.”
“True.” Philip half laughed. “Shall we?”

The two men rose and re-entered the living room where the children and Diane were still sitting. Diane was sitting between Max and Isabel and talking to them in hushed conversation. Liz was still firmly placed in Michael’s arms and the two were kissing and speaking in low tones. The humans and Tess were sitting uncomfortably waiting for the two men to return.

All conversation stopped once Philip and Jim re-entered the room.

“Max.” Philip spoke softly so as not to alarm his son. “Can I speak to you outside, please?”

Max visibly blanched. He looked over to Michael. After a few moments Michael nodded. It was only then that Max rose and followed his father out of the living room back out to the porch.

Thanks one and all for the feedback *please note the Christmas reference ;-)*

Oh and Kiara - I am British and I have never in my whole life ever heard anybody say Huzzah!!! Just thought you should know!
***********************************************************************
Max sat stiffly by his father’s side for a few moments of prolonged silence. He was anxiously waiting for his father to speak.
“What would you have done?” Philip asked desperately trying to initiate some form of conversation. “If Michael hadn’t given you the go ahead to come out here with me?”
“Stayed put.” Max answered honestly.
“But you’re the King?” Philip stated in surprise.
“I trust Michael implicitly.” Max spoke softly. “If he had been against me coming out here I would have respected that.”
“Why would he have been opposed to you speaking to me?” Philip asked cautiously.
“Because you are a potential threat.” Max stated.
“Why do all of you think that?” Philip asked. “All I ever wanted was the truth.”
“You investigated me.” Max protested.
“If I had come to you and asked you directly what was going on, would you have told me?” Philip demanded.
“No.” Max admitted.
“Why not?” Philip pleaded.

Max sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. He tried to gather his thoughts. He wanted to give his father an answer that would bring an end to the trauma that had been that evening.

“Fear.” Max replied succinctly. “If we told you and you reacted badly. What would happen to us? It wouldn’t be just me… but Izzy and Michael and Liz and Tess too. You could have disowned us. Or handed us over to the government.”
“How can you think that of us?” Philip asked incredulously. “Do you have so little faith in us?”
“What if you were ok with it?” Max continued as though his father hadn’t spoken. “At least if you didn’t know you could plead ignorance. You would be safe. Letting you in on our secret would put you and mum in danger.”
“Oh.” Philip understood.
“Lose-lose situation.” Max explained.
“What if we could have helped?” Philip asked. “We could have helped the two of you. Or at the very least we could have hindered you less.”
“The fewer people who knew.” Max explained. “The safer everyone is.”
“I was desperate to find out the truth.” Philip stated. “I never meant to incite such fear and panic. To not know the truth is far worse. You have no idea how many nightmare scenarios I have imagined.”
“I bet you never imagined this.” Max smirked softly.
“No.” Philip chuckled. “This was never on the list.”
“What did you think?” Max inquired thoughtfully.
“Mostly drugs.” Philip admitted. “The solitude. The secrecy. The withdrawnness.”
“I guess that makes sense.” Max nodded. “I’m sorry.”
“As am I.” Philip placed a hand on Max’s shoulder. “I hate this. I hate that you life has been so difficult and that I have made it worse. I’m sorry.”

Philip rose and pulled Max into a warm hug.

“It never mattered to me that you and Izzy were found.” Philip whispered into Max’s ear. “What matters is that you were claimed by your mother and me.”

Here is the next piece of the story.

Enjoy.

Merry Christmas (or holiday of your choice.)
***********************************************************
Max and Philip re-entered the living room. Max was quick to give Michael a reassuring nod. He gave his sister a warm smile before sitting down next to his father. Philip looked over to Jim and mouthed his thanks.

“Everything ok?” Diane asked anxiously.
“Yes.” Max confirmed. He felt his father place his hand on his shoulder and squeeze firmly.
“Good.” Diane sighed in relief.
“Thank you, Liz.” Philip expressed his gratitude to the small woman who obviously held a lot of sway in the group.
“I’m just glad that everything worked out.” Liz flushed slightly in embarrassment.
“Now that that has been sorted out.” Jim interjected. “When do you leave?”

He caught the attention of everyone in the room.

“The only person who seems to know what is going on is Liz.” Kyle stated as he looked over at his friend.
“We can leave whenever we choose.” Liz explained. “It is up to us to decide when.”
“What have you decided?” Diane asked anxiously.
“Nothing.” Max answered. “At least not yet.”
“It won’t be too much longer, though.” Liz added.
“Why?” Philip asked in concern.
“The only way to challenge Kivar is to be present on Antar.” Michael explained. “We cannot allow the situation to worsen if it is in our power to do something.”
“So, no date has been set?” Diane ventured.
“No.” Max stated softly. “But it will be soon.”
“Oh.” Diane was visibly upset.
“We don’t want to risk an attack or ambush when we return.” Liz added. “If people on Antar become aware that the Royal Four have been reconstituted and that we are returning…”
“We become sitting ducks.” Michael finished.
“You distrust people within your own court?” Philip guessed.
“We don’t know who we can trust.” Michael answered. “We have been gone for so long that the people who were in our court are dead or removed. We don’t know these people. I won’t trust someone I don’t know.”
“In your position in life I don’t blame you.” Philip replied. “Thank you for trusting us.”

Michael simply nodded.

Philip recognised and appreciated Michael’s acceptance. He also noticed Liz running her fingers discreetly through Michael hair causing him to visibly relax.

“I don’t think we should leave it more than a week.” Liz spoke gently but everyone heard her.
“I agree.” Michael nodded before turning to her and burying his face in her neck.
“No more than a week?” Tess asked. “So what… in five days time?”
“Five days.” Max blanched. “Whatever you decide will be fine with me.”
“Five days?” Jim was visibly stunned. “Wow.”
“I bet you don’t know what you are going to do with yourself once we leave.” Tess teased with tears in her eyes. Jim was the closest thing she had ever had to a real father.
“Things will be pretty dull.” Jim smiled warmly at her. He was going to miss her. She had brought him and Kyle closer together and the three of them had been a close ‘family’.
“We will spend the next few days with our families.” Liz added. “Today is Friday so we will leave at dawn on Wednesday.”
“Why dawn?” Philip inquired.
“Why not?” Liz shrugged. “If we say 9am we won’t leave until 10am. We could delay all day. We need a definite time and place. A deadline.”
“Otherwise we will never leave.” Max nodded in agreement.
“And we have to.” Liz finished.
“What about your parents?” Diane asked. “What do your parents know?”
“Nothing.” Liz shook her head.
“So what are you going to tell them when you disappear?” Diane was aghast. “You have to tell them.”
“No.” Liz refused. “There is no need.”
“They have a right to know what is happening to their daughter.” Jim protested.
“I never knew you were adopted.” Philip realised that if Liz was one of the aliens that she must have been found like Max and Isabel were.
“I’m not.” Liz replied.
“I’m confused.” Philip confessed. “Are you not the same as Max, Isabel, Michael and Tess?”
“Not exactly.” Liz answered. “I was married to Michael in our previous lives and a member of the Royal Four. After I was killed Michael was betrothed to Isabel. When the four of them were killed their DNA was spliced with human DNA and they were sent to Earth.”
“How did you come to be here?” Philip asked. “If your DNA wasn’t spliced.”
“Michael, Tess, Max and Isabel were sent to Earth with a sacred device called the Granolith.” Liz explained. “The Granolith basically looks like a giant paperweight. It stands taller than Michael and is about the same breadth as the coffee table. The Granolith is incredibly powerful and it decided to bring me back.”
“Do you know why?” Jim asked with interest.
“I asked it to.” Michael confessed. “In my previous life after she was killed.”
“It obviously knew that we would need her.” Tess added.
“Especially Michael.” Max finished.
“Telling my parents would serve no purpose.” Liz continued. “They have no suspicions. Not like you Philip. To tell them would alter their lives beyond anything they could imagine.”
“So what are you going to do?” Diane asked. “What are you going to tell them?”

Liz looked pensive for a moment before smiling softly.

“I’m going to tell them that I have eloped with Michael.” Liz kissed Michael on the temple.
“Oh great.” Michael joked. “Let them hate me.”
“You won’t be here to deal with them.” Liz returned.
“We’ll keep an eye on them once you leave.” Diane promised.
“Thank you.” Liz smiled warmly and with gratitude.
“Five days time.” Jim stuttered.
“God this sucks.” Kyle sighed.
