Part 46

Max stood by the lake watching the sunrise. He was lost in thought and didn’t hear Serena come up behind him.

“You’re worried about Liz.”
“Serena I would give my life for Liz.”
“I know. So would I. But I know that Liz is going to be ok. Grace and Jacquie know our plan and are going to get Liz out when the attack starts. They will take her into the old tunnels.”
“Are the tunnels safe?”
“Yes. That is how Grace and Jacquie get around without Kivar finding them.”
“Serena you know we will be leaving soon. Are you sure that you want to do this?”
“Max, Liz is my sister. I want her to be safe.”
“Kivar is your brother.”
“He killed my father. It’s because of him that I never got to know my father. Max I just want peace.”
“Serena I promise we will do everything we can to make that happen.”
“I know. But the fact is that until Kivar is dead that won’t happen. If even then.”
“Serena we should head back. We leave in an hour.”

Serena just nodded and followed Max back so they could finish getting ready to go after Liz. When they walked into the dinning hall Liz saw Ava and Kyle in a corner kissing.

“When did they give in to their feelings?” asked Serena
“Don’t know.” said Max
“Hey honey. You’re going to be careful right?” asked Alex coming over to Serena
“Yes.”
“I don’t know if I like the idea of you going Serena.” said Nancy
“Nancy, I understand. But if I don’t go I don’t think that they will be strong enough to stop Kivar. If he isn’t stopped then not only is Antar doomed but Earth is as well. If Kivar isn’t stopped then you won’t have a home to go back too.”
“Nancy, if Serena is anything like her sister and brother here there will be no talking her out of this. Besides Max and Michael aren’t going to let anything happen to Serena.” said Jeff
“Jeff, I’m scared I just got her in my life and now I might lose her before I get to know her.”
“Mrs. Parker I promise you that I won’t let anything happen to my sister. I want to get to know her better too. I also know that Liz does too.” said Michael
“Michael you know if you break that promise you will have to deal with me.” said Nancy
“Yes Ma’Am.” said Michael
“Time to go.” said Max

Everyone grabbed their stuff and headed out saying goodbye to their loved ones hoping that it wouldn’t be for the last time.

“Now what?” asked Amy?
“We sit around and wait.” said Maria
“How can we just sit around and wait?” asked Diane
“We don’t have a choice. It would be too dangerous for us to go. We have done this before. We haven’t liked it. But we have done it before.” said Alex
“There has to be something that we can do.” said Jesse
“Yeah there is. We can pray that those we love will return unharmed to us.” said Kyle

Everyone knew that Kyle was right. They couldn’t help their love ones in the fight. But they could pray that they would all make it back safely.

Part 47

Liz woke when she heard an explosion. Then she saw the wall open and Jacquie and Grace step out.

“We must hurry. There is no telling how long we will have.” said Grace
“Are you sure that these tunnels are safe?” asked Liz
“Liz, they are the only way that you will be with your family and friends again. Kivar is going to win this battle. You know that. The only way to stop him is for all of you to work together. They need you to bring him down.” said Jacquie
“I’m scared.”
“It’s ok to be honey. But you can’t let your fear control you. Fear is a strong emotion. It can take control and never let you go. Do you really want to live the rest of your life in fear? Because if you let it win today then you will have a harder time fighting it in the future.” said Grace
“Let’s go.”

Grace and Jacquie led Liz into the tunnels as the sounds of the battle got louder.

Serena knew they were out numbered. That they wouldn’t be able to keep this up much longer. She knew that Jacquie and Grace would get Liz out. But she was worried that they wouldn’t be able to all leave alive.

“MICHAEL! WATCH OUT!!” Serena yelled as a blast almost hit him.
“ISABEL! TO THE RIGHT!” yelled Max

Serena jumped out of the way as a blast came right at her. She got out of the way at the very last second. She looked over and saw Ava kneeling on the ground. Max had made his way over to her and was using his shield to protect both of them. Just then Serena saw Kivar step into view.

“Well what do we have here? Serena you really think that you can save your sister this way?” asked Kivar
“We will win Kivar. Maybe not this battle. But in the end we will win.” said Serena
“I always thought you were the smart one in the family. Well for a half breed anyway. There is no way that you can win ever. I hold all of the cards. Time to say goodbye little sister.”

Kivar sent a blast right at Serena. It hit before she had a chance to move. She fell to the ground and everything when black. Max was to her side in seconds. He checked her and found that she was still alive not by much but alive. He looked up and saw two women leading Liz into the woods. He picked Serena up and followed. Michael saw what he was doing helped Ava to her feet and started to follow with Isabel right behind them. It wasn’t long before they were in a clearing where the women and Liz were waiting for them.
“SERENA!” yelled Liz running up to Max.
“She’s alive.” said Max
“This is all my fault. I could lose my sister before I get to know her.” said Liz crying.
“Serena is strong. If anyone can make it through this she can.” said Jacquie
“You ok Liz?” asked Max
“I’m ok. Max is there anything you can do to help her?” asked Liz
“Not here. I think we might need healing stones.” said Max
“Where are we going to get those? We left them back on Earth.” said Michael
“You forget my son that where you are. There are healing stones back at the base. We must hurry. The longer we wait the weaker Serena will become.” said Jacquie
“Ava are you able to walk?” asked Isabel
“Should be able too. Glad you got out Cornball.” said Ava

The group slowly made their way back to the base. Liz walked right next to Max holding Serena’s hand the whole way and praying that her sister would be ok.

Part 48

Alex paced in the dinning hall. He was worried about Serena. He knew that something had happened to her. He had felt the pain rip through her. He wasn’t sure how to tell the others that he knew Serena was hurt. He had to tell them. He knew that Nancy had a right to know that Serena was hurt. He was lost in thought and didn’t hear Maria come up to him

“You doing ok Alex?”
“Not really. You know about the connection that Max and Liz share right?”
“Yeah. It’s kinda freaky. I mean there was this one time when Liz and I were in Vermont because Liz was at this boarding school. Well anyway Max kinda died and Liz knew it. I don’t know how but she did.”
“I remember that. Serena and I were in Vermont then too.”
“When didn’t you follow Liz around like a couple of lost puppies?”
“Doesn’t matter. That all is in the past. But the thing I am trying to get at is Serena and I have a connection a lot like theirs.”
“Ok what is the point?”
“Maria don’t ask me how I know this but I know Serena is hurt really bad.”
“How bad?”
“Really bad. I don’t know if she is going to live or not.”
“Alex the one thing that I have learned about Serena in the short time I have known her is that she is stronger than she looks. Alex you know Max will do everything he can to help her.”
“Maria I think this is something that is out of Max’s hands. But the thing is how am I going to tell Mrs. Parker that Serena is hurt?”
“I don’t know.”
“Maria I need your help.”
“Alex in case you forgot there is someone I love as much as you love Serena that is in danger too.”
“You would know if Michael was hurt.”
“How do you know that?”
“You would know. I can’t explain it. But you would know. “
“I hope that you are right.”

Maria walked away and Alex was alone with his thoughts again. After about ten minutes Alex took a deep breath and walked over to Nancy Parker.

“Mrs. Parker can I talk to you?” asked Alex
“What is it Alex?”
“Can we do this alone?”
“Sure honey.”

Nancy followed Alex out into the hall. Alex started to pace again once they were out there.

“What did you want to talk about Alex.”
“Mrs. Parker I want you to know that I love Serena with all my heart.”
“I know that. I could see it when you looked at each other.”
“Well there is this thing. Serena and I share this connection that I can’t explain. I just know things about her and she knows things about me. Like I know right now that she is hurt bad. I don’t know how bad other than she is in a lot of pain.”
“Is she going to die before I get to know her?”
“I don’t know.”
“Alex are you sure about this?”
“Yes. Very sure. I felt her pain rip through me and it almost knocked me down.”
“Max can heal her right? I mean he saved Liz when she was shot.”
“I don’t know if he can alone.”
“What do you mean alone?”
“Well there is a way to heal her if she is alive when they get back. There are these stones called healing stones. They can be used to heal her. Anyone can use them. I don’t understand it fully. I only used them once and that was like five years ago. But basically energy makes them work. But it has to be positive energy or it could do more harm than good.”
“Alex I know that Serena is strong. She has a lot to live for. She wants to get to know both Liz and Michael. She wants to be part of a family.”
“I know.”
“If there was one thing I learned from reading Liz’s old journal. That things may seem bad. But they always work out the way they are meant too.”
“I know. I lived it for a while.”
“Alex I know how hard it was for you to tell me. I want to thank you.”
“Mrs. Parker you had a right to know. Serena is your daughter.”

Nancy pulled Alex into a hug. She was glad that Serena had saved his life. He was still the same boy that had spent so much time in both the Crashdown and the apartment.

Part 49

Kivar watched as Max carried Serena away with the others on his heels. He knew that at this moment Serena was still alive but she was dying. He knew that by the time the sun rose in the morning she would be dead. Unless they were able to find some healing stones that is.

“Sir I just when to check on the human. She’s gone.” said Nicholas
“What do you mean she is gone! That door was locked!”
“She isn’t in the room. But I think I know how she got out. There is a passage into the old tunnels in that room.”
“She wouldn’t have known how to get through them alone.”
“Then she had help.”
“Damn. I should have killed the Zan’s mother and my father’s wife when I had the chance. I know they help Elizabeth.”
“What are you going to do sir?”
“Nicholas, we will attack their base at dawn in two days. Give them a little time to recover from today."
“Are you sure you want to do that?”
“Yes. You see. I know that they are all hurting. Besides by then there is a good chance that half-breed bitch will be dead. They will never stop me without her.”
“But there is a chance that they will be able to heal her. Why take that chance?”
“Nicholas what you don’t get is. Even if they do save Serena’s life, she will still be very weak at that point. It will take her at lest a week to get to full strength.”
“Sir why didn’t you just kill Serena today?”
“Because I want her to die a slow and painful death.”
“She is your sister.”
“She is a half breed. I want nothing to do with her. We may share a father but she is not my sister. Now get out.”

Nicholas left and Kivar sat down at his desk. He knew he could win. But it wasn’t going to be easy.

Part 50

The walk back to the base was quite. Liz was worried about Serena. Max was worried about Liz who was acting different. He just wished she would talk to him like she use too.

“Liz you ok?” asked Michael breaking the silence.
“Michael I’m worried about Serena. She could die.” said Liz
“Liz, Serena is strong. She isn’t going to let Kivar win without a fight.” said Jacquie
“I know. I just don’t want to lose her. I don’t even know her favorite color.”
“It’s red.” said a weak voice.
“Serena?” asked Liz
“Glad your safe sis.” said Serena
“Rena you don’t have to talk.” said Liz

Liz pushed Serena’s hair out of her face. She could see the pain that Serena was in by looking into her eyes. She knew Max couldn’t heal her. They needed to use the healing stones. It wasn’t long before they walked into the main building. Max took Serena to her room while Liz when to get Alex. Liz walked into the dinning hall and found the others waiting.

“Thank god Liz your safe.” said Nancy
“Mom I’m fine. Alex you have to come with me.” said Liz
“How is she?” asked Alex
“Not good.”
“Who are you two talking about?” asked Diane
“Serena.” said Alex
“Was she hurt?” asked Jeff
“She was hurt bad.” said Liz
“How did Alex know?” asked Kyle
“I have a connection with Serena like the one Liz and Max share. I knew Serena was hurt.” said Alex
“Max can heal her can’t he?” asked Nancy
“Uh no. But there is another way to heal her. We did it once for Michael. Well really everyone but me. But we can talk about that later.”
“Where is Serena?” asked Alex
“Max was taking her to your room. Alex that’s why I came to get you.”
“Let’s go then.”

Alex started to run down the hall to see Serena. Nancy grabbed Liz’s arm and forced her to look at her.

“Is Serena going to be ok?”
“I don’t know. Mom there is no way to tell until after we try the healing.”
“Can I help?”
“Mom you have to push your fear of losing her away. The healing needs positive energy. If you can’t push your fear away then it could cause more harm then good.”
“So you’re saying that if I can’t push my fear away that I won’t be a help to Serena?”
“Yes. Mom I understand that it hurts to hear. But it’s the truth. I’m going to help my sister.”

Liz walked out of the dinning hall and to Serena and Alex’s room. She found Jacquie with a bag of healing stones. She took one and when to stand next to Serena’s bedside.

“Liz are you sure that this is ok for the babies?” asked Max
“The babies will be fine Max. Liz knows what she is doing. Serena needs to know that Liz loves her.” said Grace
“I’m just worried about Liz.”
“I understand that. But Liz is strong. You know that.”
“I know. Let me get one of those stones. Serena needs all the help that she can get right now.”
“Your right.”

Ten minutes later Grace, Jacquie, Liz, Michael, Alex, Max and Isabel stood around Serena’s bed holding the healing stones in their hands.

“Is there room for two more?” asked Jeff
“Mom? Dad?” asked Liz
“We want to help Serena. I know that she is going to make it through this. She is strong just like her sister.” said Nancy
“Of course.” said Grace

Grace got them each a stone and explained how they worked. Then the Parkers took their places around Serena. Liz pushed a strand of Serena’s hair out of her face before taking her place. Then she took a deep breath and started to focus on giving Serena the energy that she needed. It only took a few seconds for all the stones to start to glow and Liz felt pulled into the healing.

Serena looked around and found herself standing in the desert with her family and some of her friends standing around her. She looked up and saw Liz walking up to her and gave her a hug with a warm smile. Then Michael walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. Then Grace up and hugged her and gave her a kiss. Jacquie then did the same thing. Max walked up next and gave her a smile and a hug. Isabel then gave her a hug, then it was Jeff and Nancy. Michael walked up then and held her. She felt some much love from everyone. Then Alex walked up to her. He grabbed her and gave her the most passionate kiss he had ever given to her before.

When Serena woke up she found everyone still standing around her. She still felt weak but moved so that she was sitting rather than lying down.

“Thank you for helping me.” said Serena
“You still need your rest Serena. But you will recover.” said Grace
“I know. Is my baby ok?”

She watched as Liz and Alex looked at each other.

“What is going on?” asked Serena
“I think we should go.” said Jeff

Everyone but Alex and Liz left. Liz bit her lip as she sat down next to her sister. Alex sat on the edge of the bed next to Serena and pushed her hair back.

“What do you two know that you’re not telling me?”
“Serena sweetie, he killed the baby. There wasn’t anything any of us could do to save it.” said Alex
“Liz did you know before the healing?”
“I saw it when I touched you on the way back here. I’m so sorry Rena. You too Alex.” said Liz
“Kivar has to die.” said Serena
“Serena, you need to rest. I don’t want you to go after Kivar on your own. He almost killed you this time. He might kill you next time.” said Alex
“I promise that I will get my rest. But that doesn’t mean that I will let him get away with killing my baby.” said Serena
“He won’t get away Rena I promise.” said Liz
“Talk to Max.” said Serena
“I will right now.” said Liz

Liz gave her sister a kiss then left the room to find Max.

Part 51

Max was talking with his parents when Liz found him in the lounge. She took a deep breath and walked over to them.

“Max we need to talk.” said Liz
“How is Serena taking the news?” asked Max
“Not very well. Max can we please go somewhere and talk in private?”
“Ok. I’ll see you later mom and dad.”

Max and Liz left and headed down to the lake.

“What do you want to talk about?”
“Max something happened while Kivar had me.”
“What happened?”
“I don’t know how to talk about it.”
“Liz you know that you can tell me anything.”
“It’s just not something that is easy to talk about.”
“Is it why you have been so distend with me?”
“Yes.”
“Just take your time.”
“Well after I got everyone released he came back to the room he had me in and…..”
“Liz look at me.”

Liz looked at Max and he could see tears falling down her face. He reached up and wiped some of the tears from her face and saw her flinch at his touch. He knew then what had happened.

“Did he rape you?”

He watched as Liz turned away from him.

“Liz?”
“Yes. He raped me.”

Max pulled Liz into his arms gently and turned her head so that she was looking in his eyes.

“What happened to you isn’t your fault.”
“I know that.”
“Liz I know that you are going to need time to deal with this. But when you are ready to talk I will listen ok?”
“Yeah. Thank you Max.”

Max pulled Liz into a hug and held her until she pulled away after a few minutes.

“Sorry.”
“You did nothing wrong Liz. I know it’s going to take time for you to feel safe again. But you know in your heart that I will never hurt you like that. I will wait until you are ready ok?”
“Thank you.”
“Liz I want you to remember that I love. No matter what happens I will always love you.”

Liz wrapped her arms around Max in a warm hug.

Part 52

“How are you doing Serena?” asked Alex
“Alex I wanted our baby so much.”
“I know honey. We can still have a family when you are ready. Rena, I love you.”
“I love you too. But I knew that Kivar would try and kill me. But I went after Liz anyway. Now are baby is dead.”
“Serena, I understand why you went after Liz. She is your sister. It’s not your fault that Kivar killed our child. If I could have been a help I would have gone after Liz too. But the fact is I knew that he is powerful enough to kill me. So I stayed behind. But I couldn’t ask the same thing of you. You knew where you were going. I know that you may have saved Liz’s life.”
“But I cost us our baby’s life.”
“Serena we can try again. Maybe it wasn’t the right time for us. Maybe there is some plan that we don’t know about. I want you to know that I love you. There is nothing that can happen that can change that. I still want you as my wife and mate. You know that I would have died if you hadn’t stepped in that night.”
“I realize that Alex. But sometimes I wonder if I should have stepped forward sooner. Before Tess ever stepped foot in Roswell. I knew that she was evil and did nothing to stop her from coming between Max and Liz.”
“There are a lot of what ifs. What if Liz had never been shot? What if she was and Max hadn’t been there? Or listened to Michael and left? What if Liz hadn’t told me the truth about them? You can ask yourself what if until you turn blue but it doesn’t change the past.”
“We could change the past.”
“I don’t think that anyone really wants that. Beside if you change the past you and I may never meet and fall in love.”
“I know. It’s just that things could be better than they are now.”
“Or they could be worse. You and I both know that without humans in their lives the Royal Four will fall. You know that Kyle and Ava are starting to grow closer. I know now that Isabel was always meant to be with Jesse. I mean he’s not a bad guy. He treats her the way she should be treated. I want you to promise me that you aren’t going to go after Kivar alone. I mean it. I don’t want to lose you.”
“Alex I know that I can’t stop Kivar alone. I won’t go until there is a plan that will stop him once and for all.”

Alex leaned down and gave Serena a gentle kiss. He knew that she was telling the truth as much as she wanted Kivar to pay for what he had done to her baby she would wait. Just then there was a knock on the door. Alex looked up and saw Nancy Parker standing there.

“Mind if I come in?” she asked softly.
“Actually Mrs. Parker there is something I need to do. I’ll be back to see you later Rena.” said Alex

Alex got up and left and Nancy came in and sat next to Serena.

“How are you feeling?” asked Nancy
“Not to good. I feel like part of me is gone and I don’t know how to get it back.”
“Serena, I know that there is nothing I can say that can make it any easier for you. I know that the pain of losing a child is strong. But I can also tell you that in time it won’t feel as bad. You may always think of the child that you lost, but you will heal.”
“It’s just I wanted this child so much. Nancy, Jacquie was great to me as a child but I knew she wasn’t my real family. I just wanted a family of my own.”
“Serena, you have a family. Liz cares so much about you. You know Michael will always be here for you too. I wish I had gotten to see you grow up. But I understand that it was safer for you that I didn’t. As a parent, sometimes you have to give your child up to keep them safe. I know that you wanted your baby. But maybe this was one you had to give up so that you will be able to protect a different child. Maybe there was a reason that you had to lose this baby. Maybe there is something you have to do to help Liz with her children. Only time will give you these answers. I know that Alex will do whatever he can to make you happy. Time heals all.”
“It’s just I never thought that something like this could happen.”
”I know you didn’t. But I know one thing that when the time is right you will be a great mother.”
“How can you know that?”
“Because Jacquie taught you something that is very imported how to love. I know she loves you like you as a daughter. I am very grateful to her for being here for you.”
“Thank you Nancy for what you just said.”
“I know you need to rest. But make me a promise.”
“I already told Liz and Alex I’m not going to go after Kivar alone.”
“It’s not that. But I am glad to hear it. I want you to promise me that when you are ready that you will tell me all about your childhood.”
“I promise.”
“Good. Now get some rest.”

Nancy leaned down and gave Serena a kiss and prayed that she would be able to get through this.

Sorry that it's been so long! Been busy with the real world you know? Had to get ready for Christmas. Hope that everyone had a nice one. I know I did! Well hopefully after New Years everything will get back to what passes as normal for me. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and See you in '05





Part 53 Two months later.

Liz walked down to the lake where she found Serena staring out at the water.

“So is it just me or are you avoiding me?” asked Liz
“Uh it’s not just you Liz.” Serena admitted softly.
“Why are you avoiding me?”
“I don’t know.”
“Serena I know that you are still hurting. I don’t know what you are going through. But you can talk to me if you want.”
“Liz I don’t want to talk about it with you.”

Liz sat down next to Serena. She knew that Serena was angry that she had lost her baby. But Liz wasn’t going to let her keep her feelings inside.

“Rena I’m worried about you.”
“Don’t Liz. I’m fine.”
“No you’re not. Serena you need help.”
“Liz you’re not a shrink. I want you to stay out of my head.”
“I’m not going into your head. I can feel your anger poring off you. You know that anger is a powerful emotion. If you don’t talk to someone soon about your feelings then you will lose control.”
“Liz I can’t talk about this. It’s too painful.”
“I understand that. But you won’t start to heal until you do. If you can’t talk to me then talk to Alex. I know that he is worried about you.”
“I’ll try. It won’t be much longer before your twins are born.”
“Don’t remind me. I look like a beached whale.”
“No you don’t. You look like an expected mother.”
“Serena, I know you wanted a child. But it wasn’t meant to be right now.”
“Kivar is going to pay isn’t he Liz?”
“You know he is. Max wants him to pay as much as you do.”

Serena turned to look at Liz and saw her wince.

“Liz are you ok?”
“Uh Serena how long did you say that I would be pregnant?”
“Three months give or take a week.”
“I think you better help me get back.”

Serena stood up and helped Liz to her feet and they walked back to the main building. Serena saw Isabel and Jesse sitting outside talking.

“Get Max Now!” yelled Serena
“What’s wrong?” asked Isabel
“We are about to be Aunts.” said Serena
“Liz are you ok?” asked Isabel
“Get Max so that I can kill him.” said Liz
“Liz clam down. Let’s get you to your room. Jesse give me a hand. Isabel get Max.” said Serena
“What do you want me to do?” asked Jesse
“Help me get Liz to her room.” said Serena

Jesse opened the door and wrapped an arm around Liz’s waist and walked her down the hall to the room she shared with Max. Serena was right behind them and helped Liz into bed. It wasn’t long before Max came running through the door and up to Liz.

“How are you honey?” asked Max
“If you ever do this to me again I will kill you. Do you understand me?” asked Liz
“Max don’t listen to that. Liz is in a lot of pain right now.” said Serena
“Uh if you don’t need me any more I’m going to go.” said Jesse

Jesse left the room as Grace and Jacquie walked in.

“How is she?” asked Jacquie
“I think she is ok.” said Max

Grace walked up to Liz and placed a hand on her. She then turned to look at Serena and Jacquie.

“She’s ready.” said Grace
“Are you sure?” asked Max
“Max you need to be calm for Liz. Serena I want you to help Max keep Liz clam.” said Jacquie
“Keep Liz clam? You got to be joking.” said Serena
“I heard that!” said Liz

Serena shot Max a look before they each took one of Liz’s hands. Two hours later Liz and Max each held a baby in their arms.

“Serena do you want to hold your niece?” asked Liz
“I don’t know.”
“I’m sure that you will be fine.”
“Ok.”

Liz handed the baby from her arms to Serena. Serena held the baby and started to talk to her softly.

“I’m your Aunt Serena and I’m going to teach you to do all kinds of things and spoil you and your brother big.”
“Not to much I hope.” Liz said.
“Hey I get to do spoil them as much as I want. It’s in the aunt handbook.”
“Nice to see you feeling better Rena.” said Alex from the door.
“Alex I do feel better. I never thought that I would feel whole again. But seeing my niece and nephew I know that everything is going to work out in the end. There is just something that I feel that makes me believe that we are going to win and stop Kivar once and for all.” said Serena.
“So have you come up with names yet for the Prince and Princess?” asked Alex

Liz smiled at Max before turning back to Alex.

“Yeah we have. Alexander Jeffery, Claudia Serena.” said Liz
“Named for four of the most imported people in our lives.” said Max
“Max you didn’t know Grandma Claudia.” said Alex
“That might be true. But the thing is if I hadn’t listened to her and followed my heart Then none of us would be here right now.” said Liz
“Why after me Liz? I mean we haven’t known each other very long.” said Serena
“But if not for you Alex would have died. You saved his life. You didn’t know him at the time and you risked Kivar finding out that you were on Earth to save him. There is nothing I can do to ever repay you for saving Alex’s life. I know Maria is going to be hurt. But she will get over it. Besides there is always the next one.” said Liz
“Thank you. I don’t think you know how much it means to me.” said Serena with tears in her eyes.
“Your part of our family now and forever Serena. You’re suck with us for the rest of your life.” said Max
“Rena you have what you have always wanted. A family that will be there for you in good times and bad.” said Alex
“And I couldn’t have asked for a better one.” said Serena

Liz smiled. She knew that they still had a battle to fight but now that they had something more to fight for that they would win or all die trying.

Part 54

Nicholas walked into Kivar’s office.

“Sir I just got word from one of our spies the heirs have been born.”
“Damn. That human girl is going to be stronger now. She was already strong. Stronger than I thought a human could get.”
“Sir what are we going to do?”
“Nicholas do have a brain?”
“Why do you ask sir?”
“Because you just asked me a stupid question. We are going to take the heirs and raise them as I see fit. I also want that half breed dead!”
“She isn’t that easy to kill you know. Serena is smart.”
“I know that. But the thing is she is nothing but a half-breed. She should have died a long time ago. When I win this war is over I will ban Antarians from breeding with humans. I don’t give a damn if they claim to love the humans or not and any half-breeds that are living on Antar will have to wear black bans on their arms. They will not be treated as our equals because they never will be our equals.”

Nicholas knew Kivar was evil but he never thought that he would think of doing that. But he had to follow orders or he was dead. Kivar would kill him in a heart beat he knew that.

“Why would you do that sir?”
“Why? Those half breeds shouldn’t even be alive!”
“Sir in case you forgot the heir are half breeds as you like to call them.”
“Not really. You see Nicholas when that stupid boy that would be King saved the human girl’s life he made her part Antarian. That means that the heirs have more than half antarian blood. They aren’t half-breeds but they aren’t full breeds either. Not that it will matter they will only be alive long enough for the girl to be old enough to give birth to my own heir which would be nearly a full breed.”
“Sir I have to check on some things.”
“Then go.”

Nicholas left the office and thought about what Kivar had told him. He didn’t like Max but he didn’t want two innocent children to die. He knew what he had to do if he was going to save those kids lives. He would have to go to Max and tell him what he knew. He would have to betray Kivar. He walked out of the Place and headed for the base that Max and the others were at.

Kyle and Ava were walking down by the lake when they saw someone come out of the shadows. Ava knew him as soon as she saw him.
“What you doing here Nicholas?” she asked
“I came to warn Max. Kivar wants his kids.” said Nicholas
“How do we know you are telling the truth?” asked Kyle
“Look I hate Max. But the thing is his kids haven’t done anything. They were just born. If you don’t believe me then get Serena. She knows when someone lies. I am trying to not only save those kids lives and Serena’s. Kivar hates her more than he hates Max. He wants her dead. I think that he is planning to kill the other half humans that are here.” said Nicholas
“He’s telling the truth.” said Serena walking up to them with Alex.
“You believe him Rena?” asked Ava
“Nicholas may lie. But he doesn’t want kids to die for no reason.” said Serena
“I heard you lost your baby. I’m sorry Serena. I am turning myself in. I don’t want Kivar to win and go through with his sick plan to kill anyone who is less than three quarters Antarian.” said Nicholas
“Ok Nicholas let’s go. You are going to tell Max everything that you know.” said Serena
“Whatever you say red.” said Nicholas

Serena led the group back to the main part of the base so that Nicholas could tell Max everything that he knew. They took Nicholas into the dinning hall and Serena when to find Max and Liz.

Part 55

Max was placing A.J. down in his bed when he heard a knock on the door.

“Come in.” he yelled.

Serena walked in.

“Max uh there is something you need to know. Nicholas turned himself in a little while ago.”
“What?”
“I’m telling you the truth.”
“Why would he do that?”
“He wants to save the twins lives. He said he doesn’t want Kivar to kill them.”
“Serena were is he?”
“In the dinning hall with Ava, Kyle, Alex and about ten guards.”
“Find either my mom or yours to stay here with Liz and the twins. She needs her rest.”
“Will do. Then I will join you while you question Nicholas. You know I can tell when a lie is being told.”
“Yeah. Serena thanks for everything you have done to help us. You could have just walked away from all of this and you didn’t.”
“I didn’t because it is what my father would have wanted. I may not have gotten a chance to know him. But I do know that he would have done whatever it took to stop Kivar.”
“But because of your choices you lost your baby.”
“Maybe that is true. But if I had walked away then I wouldn’t have fallen in love and there is a good chance that Alex would be dead.”
“Serena please go.”
“Be back soon.”

Serena left and was back in less than five minutes with both Diane and Nancy. Max then left with Serena to talk to Nicholas. When Max and Serena walked into the dinning hall the saw Nicholas sitting at a table waiting for them.

“Alex, Ava and Kyle I want you to leave.” said Max
“Max are you sure that is a good idea?” asked Alex
“I will be fine. Besides Serena isn’t going anywhere.”
“Ok but I don’t like it.” said Kyle
“Buddha boy Serena ain’t going to let nothing happen to Max. She wouldn’t want Liz mad at her.” said Ava

Once they had left Max sent half of the guards out of the room as well. Then he and Serena sat down across from Nicholas.

“Tell me everything that you know Nicholas.” said Max
“Well Kivar not only plans to kill Serena here, but wants to kill your kids too. But the thing is your daughter would get to live until she is old enough to give him his own kid and give birth. He would then have an heir he trained that has the blood of the Royal house of Antar.”
“What else runt?” asked Serena
“Well Serena as you know you aren’t the only half breed as Kivar calls you on Antar. He plans to strip them of all their rights and most likely kill them.”
“Why would you care about any of this?” asked Max
“Well you see if Kivar is willing to do that stuff what is to stop him from doing whatever it takes to keep the throne. He is evil and needs to be stopped.”
“You have had no problem with helping him in the past Nicholas.” said Serena
“I know but what no one knows is I have a sister. She’s half human. I have had her in hiding since the start of the war. I don’t care what you do to me. I just want my sister to be safe.”

Max turned to look at Serena. She nodded that Nicholas had been truthful so far.

“Where is this sister of yours?” asked Max
“Far from here.”
“What is her name?” asked Serena
“Raya. I am willing to tell you where to find her. I just want to see her once again before I die. I know that is going to happen either I will die as a traitor of the Royal house of Antar. Or as a traitor of Kivar.”
“Serena do you believe him?” asked Max
“I do. Max I think it’s safe to believe him. He honestly wants to save his sister’s life.”
“Fine. You will see your sister if we can find her.” said Max
“Thank you.”
“Max we should think about putting him in isolation. The other prisoners will try and kill him.” said Serena
“So where is your sister?” asked Max
“She is about fifteen miles from here in some old caves. The caves are holy ground fighting is not aloud there.”
“I have heard of the caves. It is said that only someone pure of heart can enter them.” said Serena
“Do you know how to reach them?”
“No but Jacquie and Grace would know.” said Serena
“Fine. Guards take Nicholas to the far west end of the prison away from the other prisoners.” said Max
“Yes Sire.” said one of the guards.

The guards left with Nicholas and Max got up to head back to Liz.

“Max who are you going to send for the girl?” asked Serena
“Your going and so is Alex. I may have one or two others go besides either Jacquie or Grace.”
“Max you know what I said.”
“Yes only someone pure of heart can enter. Serena everything you have done is because you love Liz and Alex.”
“I don’t know if I can enter.”
“Serena you won’t know unless you try.”
“Right.”

Max walked off and Serena when to find Alex.

Part 56

Liz woke from her nap to find her mom and Diane in the room.

“Where is Max?” asked Liz
“He had to take care of something.” said Nancy
“What did he have to do? I want the truth.” said Liz
“Nicholas turned himself in. He when with Serena to question him.” said Diane
“Why would Nicholas do that?”
“We weren’t told. We were just asked to stay with you so you could get some rest. Max’s idea.” said Nancy
“Mom where is Claudia?”
“Right her. She is getting a little better at sleeping.” said Diane
“If you call screaming at two in the morning getting better.” said Liz
“Liz it will get better. A.J. is still having a hard time too.” said Nancy
“I know. How long will Max be gone?” asked Liz
“He will be back as soon as he can. Don’t worry honey.” said Diane
“It’s hard not too. He and I haven’t spent much time apart since the twins were born.”
“I know honey. But you know that Max loves you. He will do anything for you, even give his life.” said Nancy
“You don’t have to remind me of that. He risked his life to save mine. I would have died when I was sixteen if he hadn’t risked everything to heal me.”
“He trusted you with his darkest secret because he was not only in love with you, but could see the kind of person you were deep inside. You were willing to give up your own happiness to save the world.” said Diane
“You know both of them are right Liz. There is nothing that will make me stop loving you. As long as we are honest with each other we can work out anything.” said Max entering the room.
“I think we will leave you two alone to talk.” said Nancy

Nancy and Diane left and Max sat down next to Liz. Liz knew that something had happened while he was questioning Nicholas.

“Max why did Nicholas turn himself in?”
“He wanted to save our children’s lives.”
“Why?”
“Liz, he doesn’t want Kivar to kill them. He also wants us to find his younger sister. She like Serena is half human. If I understood Nicholas right Kivar is planning on wiping out all half humans on Antar.”
“Oh god that makes him sound like Hitler.”
“I know. Serena said Nicholas is on the level. He is even ready to die for his crimes. He just wants to be able to say good bye to his sister first.”
“Serena has good judgment.”
“Yeah she does. That is why she is going to find the girl.”
“Won’t it be dangerous?”
“Yes. But Liz you know that Serena is strong and knows how to protect herself. She isn’t going alone either. Alex and either Jacquie or Grace will go with her and I will send some guards too.”
“Why Serena?”
“Because the girl is hidden on holy ground. Only the pure of heart can get to her.”
“You believe Serena is pure of heart don’t know?”
“Liz you know she is. Look at everything she has done for you and Alex. She was willing to die to free you from Kivar.”
“Max I just don’t want to lose her.”
“You won’t I promise. Besides we both know that Serena isn’t going to die without a fight. She is just as hardheaded as both you and Michael.”
“Thanks lot! You think that I am hardheaded?”
“You know I mean that in a good way. Remember when you came back to Roswell at the beginning of Junior year? You wouldn’t get back together with me no matter how hard I tried. Then there was that time you wouldn’t tell me for almost a year what really happened with you and Kyle no matter how hard I pushed you.”
“Ok you win. I can be hardheaded sometimes. But I know that is one of the things you love about me.”

Max just grinned and gave Liz a warm and sweet kiss.

Serena walked through the woods to the caves with Jacquie in the lead. She was lost in thought and didn’t notices when Alex wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

“You will be ok.” he said softly.
“Alex how do you know? How does anyone know I can do this?”
“Serena the fact that you have doubts is a good thing. Liz believes in you. She doesn’t know you very well and she believes in you.”
“Well everyone can believe what they want that doesn’t mean that I can do this.”
“Serena you know you can. All that you have to do is believe in yourself.” said Jacquie
“That’s easy for you all to say. You’re not the one chosen to go into the caves to find this girl.”
“Rena just relax you can do this.” said Alex

*You know he is right Rena.*
*Damn Liz do you have to scare me like that?*
*Sorry. But Serena you can do this. I know you can. But remember to be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to you.*
*I promise my Queen.*
*Serena don’t call me that!*
*What? Queen? Liz weather you like it or not you are the Queen of Antar.*
*You don’t have to remind me. I know that. But you are also my sister. I just want to be treated like that.*
*Ok. Lizzie we will be back soon. Now get the hell out of my head!*
*Later Rena. Tell Alex I want him to be careful too.*
*Right.*

Serena found Alex watching her after Liz broke the connection.

“Liz was just trying to get me to believe in myself.” said Serena
“You should believe in yourself.” said Alex
“It’s just that I am scared to go in the caves.”
“Rena it’s ok to be scared. But the thing you got to remember is that you have to face your fears or they will rule your life. I seem to remember that there was a time that you were scared to face Liz. But you did and now Liz is your friend for life.”
“Alex I know that. But this is different.”

Alex gave Serena a kiss and let her feel all his love for her.

“We will be there soon.” said Jacquie

Serena saw the opening of the caves and took a deep breath. She knew that she would soon step foot in them and be judged by the gods of Antar on weather or not she is pure and good. She knew that she had to find the girl and that it was the only way.

“Serena you must enter alone. When you enter you will see crystals on the walls. If they glow blue you may keep going. If they glow red then you have ten seconds to leave the caves without being harmed.” said Jacquie
“How many have entered the caves?” asked Alex
“More than I know of. Most that are judged to be pure and good come out a different person than they went in as. But those who have been judged evil and dark even if they make it out are never heard from again.” said Jacquie
“Alex it’s time for me to go. Remember that no matter what happens I will always love you.” said Serena
“Love you too. Be careful.” said Alex

Serena kissed Alex one last time before heading into the caves. Taking a deep breath she walked into the mouth of the cave and watched as the crystals started to glow a soft blue. As she headed deeper into the caves the light grew brighter. She had been walking for an hour when she found she had to make a choice between two caves.

“How do I know which one to take?” Serena mumbled

She closed her eyes and asked for guidance in her quest. She knew if she asked the gods they would lead her the right way. After a couple of minutes she opened her eyes and walked into the cave to her left. It was an hour and half later she found herself in a cavern that looked lived in. Then she saw a girl who couldn’t have been more than thirteen wrapped in a blanket.

“Raya?” asked Serena
“Who are you?” asked the girl.
“Your brother sent me.”
“My brother?”
“Yes Nicholas turned himself in to the true King and asked only one thing. To be able to see you again.”
“Kivar is going to kill me isn’t he?”
“That is what your brother believes Raya.”
“You’re Serena aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
“Then I must go with you. You are nothing like your brother.”
“I hate to even admit that Kivar is my brother.”
“We should go then.”

Serena watched as the girl stood and gathered her things and got ready to leave the caves.

Alex sat under a tree and prayed that Serena would be ok.

“She will be fine. Serena has a very good heart.”
“I know. I just love her so much.”
“Alex she loves you too. She wants a family with you.”
“Jacquie, how will she be changed?”
“It’s hard to say. I have only met one person that has gone into the caves and told the story. They had been at a crossroads in life and didn’t know where to turn. So they when to the caves seeking guidance. When they returned it was like they knew that they had to live for the moment and not to let fear hold them down any more. They knew that life was short and had to live each day to the fullest.”
“So it could be different for everyone?”
“Yes. But it won’t change how Serena feels for you. If anything it could make her love for you stronger. What you don’t know is that her greatest fear has always been that no one would ever love her. She knows you love her but part of it is still inside her.”

Alex listened to what Jacquie had to say to him and knew that he would have to be there for Serena no matter what.

Liz was changing Claudia’s diaper when Grace walked in.

“Serena will be fine.”
“I know. She needs to do this. Serena needs to see all the good in herself. All the good that everyone else sees in her.”
“That is the one thing she has never been able to do. Believe in herself. Once in the caves she will know that she is a good person no matter what anyone else says about her. She will have too face Kivar again.”
“I still don’t get why Nicholas had a change of heart.”
“Nicholas loves his younger sister. He hid her out of that love. Raya is the only family Nicholas has. He would do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Even give her up to Max. You see Nicholas knows that Raya will be safe here. That Max wouldn’t kill her just because of who her brother is. That she won’t die because she is part human.”
“Part human?”
“You see your mother wasn’t the only one we used to create a child there are over a hundred people with human blood in them.”
“Why are there that many?”
“Well Liz, what you should know is that many on Antar had pushed their emotions deep down. Humans share their emotions more freely. I could see that we would end up destroying ourselves if we didn’t learn to share emotions again.”
“So you abducted humans and used their DNA to create children that would have human emotions in the hopes that it would save your people.”
“Yes, but you see Kivar didn’t like that. He wants to destroy humans. That is why he wants Serena dead. I don’t know where he learned to be like that. His father was strong and very loyal to Zan’s father. But Kivar had this dark side that no one saw. He started to plot and plan until he killed Zan and the rest of the Royal Four. He tricked Ava into helping him but framed Vilandra.”
“Isabel will be happy to hear that she was framed.”
“We sent Ava because she was good for the most part. But the fact is she had a dark side. All four of them did. Zan’s was the only one who’s dark side wasn’t as bad as the others were. He was more like he didn’t care.”
“Why are you telling me this Grace?”
“Liz I don’t want history to repeat it self. But it would be far worse this time. You see with the Granalith hidden on Earth we wouldn’t be able to bring any of you back. It was with the power of the Granalith that we were able to bring the Royal Four back as hybrids.”
“Do you really think that it could?”
“It is always possible. Liz if Kivar stays in power it would be worse than it was on Earth when the man known as Hitler was in power.”
“Known as one of the darkest times in Earth’s history.”
“Yes. This is the darkest time in Antar’s history. Nicholas is right Kivar will kill every person that has human blood. He is very dangerous.”
“I know. I heard him tell Serena that he was going to kill her.”
“He would have too, if you hadn’t done what you did for her. Serena has a good heart. She is willing to do anything for you and Max.”
“I know. But I don’t want to lose her before I get to know her.”

Grace gave Liz a hug. She knew that Serena was in danger. Not just from Kivar but from what destiny has in store for all of them.

Part 59

Serena walked through the caves with Raya right behind her.

“So why did my brother give himself up? I mean he always believed that Kivar was right.” asked Raya
“He is worried about your life.”
“Kivar is really evil isn’t he?”
“Yes. I hate him more than anything.”
“Isn’t he your brother?”
“Yes. But he has told me more than once that he will kill me.”
“Why would he kill you?”
“Well the fact that I am loyal to the rightful King and my mother is human may have something to do with it.”
“Serena?”
“What?”
“What is going to happen to me when we get there?”
“Raya, Max and Liz are both good people they will not judge you based on who your brother is.”
“I hope that you are right.”
“I am.”

When Serena finally saw the entrance to the caves she let out a deep breath. She had no idea that she had been holding. When she stepped out of the cave she felt a peace that she had never felt before inside herself. She noticed Alex and Jacquie sitting under a tree talking as she and Raya walked up to them.

“Alex.” said Serena softly.
“Rena!” said Alex.

Alex got up and wrapped his arms Serena and kissed her. Raya watched the two of them. She could see how much they loved each other. She hoped that she would one day she would find love like they had.

“Serena, Alex we should head back. These woods aren’t the safest place to be after dark.” said Jacquie

Serena pulled back from Alex and smiled.

“She’s right. Some of the animals in these woods would make a loin look like a house cat.” said Serena
“Uh that’s not friendly.” said Alex
“How far is it?” asked Raya
“We will be back at our base in a couple of hours.” said Jacquie

They started to walk down the path to the base. The walk was mostly quite. Alex could see a change in Serena. She was more sure of herself, she didn’t seem to be as afraid as she had been earlier that day. But he knew that she was still deep down the woman he had fallen in love with. The woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Serena smiled at Alex knowing that he loved her more than anything in the world weather it was this one or Earth.

Liz was thinking about what Grace told her about not wanting history to repeat itself. She knew what would happen if it did. There would be no saving Antar. Just like if someone like Hitler were to take power again on Earth than it would possibly cause the end of the world. There were too many lives at stake to let anything like that happen. She was scared of Kivar but knew that she would have to face the fear or they wouldn’t be strong enough to stop him. She was so lost in thought that she didn’t hear Max come up behind her.

“I’m sure Serena is going to be ok.”
“Max it’s not just Serena I am worried about. What if we can’t stop Kivar?”
“Liz we can’t worry about something that might not happen.”
“I know. But Max what are we going to do if we do stop him? Are we going to stay here or go back to Earth?”
“Liz I don’t know. I am these peoples King. But I feel that Earth is my home. I hope that isn’t a choice that we are going to have to make. But the fact is wherever you are I will be happy.”

Liz gave Max a kiss and knew deep down that she felt the same way.

Part 60

“Where the hell is Nicholas?” yelled Kivar
“No one can find him sir.”
“I want to know where he went.”
“Sir someone said they saw him leave the palace.”
“I want Nicholas found and brought to me do you understand me?”
“Yes sir.”

The soldier left and Kivar sat down as his desk. He had an idea of where Nicholas went. There was one person on Antar that he cared about. But Nicholas couldn’t go into where his little sister was hidden. Not that most of the people who worked for Kivar could. No one who work for him were pure of heart. Not that he believed any of that any way. But he would find Raya and teach Nicholas a lesson for betraying him. The girl was Nicholas’s biggest weakness. When he had Raya then Nicholas would come out of hiding.

Raya watched as the sun began to set. She knew that it would be a while before she would be able to see her brother even after they reached the base. She didn’t know if she was doing the right thing trusting these people but she knew that she couldn’t trust Kivar at all.

“Are you ok Raya?” asked Serena
“Uh yeah. When do you think that I will be able to see my brother?”
“I don’t know. That is up to Max and Liz.”
“Raya don’t worry I think that you may have to wait until morning but Max and Liz will let you see Nicholas.” said Alex
“He is right. Raya everything will be ok.” said Jacquie
“I hope so.” said Raya softly.

Serena watched the girl. She could see that she was scared. But there was nothing that she could do to help the girl. She knew that Max and Liz wouldn't punish her for her brother's crimes. But Raya had no way of knowing that.

The rest of the walk was quite. Serena heard Raya gasp when she saw the base.

“Its beautiful here.” said Raya softly.
“We like it. But to some of us it’s just not home.” said Alex
“So what happens with me now?” asked Raya
“I will show you to your room and then in the morning you will meet Max and Liz before getting to see your brother.” said Serena
“I will let them know that we are back.” said Jacquie

Serena watched as Jacquie walked off. She knew that Jacquie knew something that she wasn’t talking about. Something big. But had no clue what it was. Serena led Raya to the room that had been made up for her and let her get settled in. She had just left the room when Liz came up behind her.

“So how is she?” asked Liz
“Scared. She doesn’t know who to trust.”
“Serena how about you?”
“Me I’m fine why do you ask?”
“Something happened in those caves to you didn’t it?”
“Liz I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Serena we agreed that you wouldn’t lie to me.”
“Liz I know that. It’s just that I’m not ready to talk about it. I’m sorry.”
“Find me when you are. I really care about you.”
“I know you do. So how are my niece and nephew?”
“Doing well.”
“Liz it’s been a long day. I think I will just go to bed.”
“Good night Serena.”
“Night Liz.”

Liz watched as Serena headed to her room. She could see a change in her but couldn’t think of what it was. Serena walk was different too. When she had left Serena walked like she was scared of what people thought of her. Now she walked like she could care less. Liz knew better than to press her right now. In time Serena would tell her what had happened.

Part 61

Raya woke the next morning to someone knocking on the door. She got out of bed and walked over and opened it. She found a woman who didn’t look much older than she did. She had long dark hair and warm brown eyes.

“Raya may I talk to you?”
“Uh sure. If you don’t mind my asking who are you?”
“Not at all. I’m Liz.”
“You married the man that was once King Zan.”
“Yes Max.”
“Come in please.”

Liz walked into the room and sat down at the table in the center of the room. She noticed that Raya seemed a little nervous.

“Raya please sit down. I’m not going to hurt you.”
“I know that.” said Raya taking a seat at the table.
“Did you sleep well?” asked Liz
“Yeah. It’s nice here.”
“Raya, Max asked me to talk to you. He thinks that you might be more at ease with just me than with him.”
“Whatever is fine with me.”
“Raya I know you want to see Nicholas. You will get to very soon. But I need to know anything that you know about Kivar.”
“I don’t know much. I know that he wants me and anyone else with human blood on Antar dead.”
“But do you know why?”
“He believes that humans are weak. That they are too emotional.”
“What do you think about humans?”
“Well you are the first full blooded human I have ever met besides Alex yesterday. You both seem nice. But you aren’t normal humans either. You were both saved from death by an Antarian or at lest half Antarian.”

Liz smiled. This girl was sweet nothing like her brother. She had to wonder how that had happened. But knew not to worry to much about it. They talked for while longer while they ate breakfast then Liz asked one of the guards to take Raya to see her brother.
