Hey Ya’ll I know that it has been along, long torturous time since I last updated, but fear not, I am back. I want to thank you all for reading this fic and enjoying it. The next part was purely about having fun and living in the moment. And without further to do I present, Part 20
And here we go:
Part 20
Liz’s POV
So, where are we going?” I ask Max as we continue to drive along the road.
“I’ve told you like 15 times already Parker, it’s a surprise!” He exclaims yet again.
Okay, I know I’m being nosey and that I should just sit back and enjoy the ride, but Max Evans has driven out of Roswell and has taken me into the desert. After the whole Kyle incident, I think that I have a right to be a little wary of the situation. “MAAAAXXX!!” I whine loudly.
“LIIIIZZ!” He retorts.
I slam back into my chair and let out a huge huffing sound. The next 2 minutes consists of me glaring at Max, sticking my tongue out and mimicking him in a small voice. “I can see you ya know.” He says frowning at me.
“Well duh, you have eyes.” I say rolling my own.
He lets out an aggravated sigh and pulls to the side of the road. “Umm… Max?” I ask a little freaked.
“Parker, look it’s a surprise.” He says the last part slowly. “So just relax, nothing bad is going to happen, just trust me.”
“And what if I can’t?” I ask in a small voice.
“Well, then your just going to have to sit back, shut up and just make faces at me the whole way.” He says sighing.
“Jerk.” I mutter as he pulls back onto the deserted road. We sit there in silence, when my favorite song comes on. “Ohh I love this!” I exclaim and turn it up a bit more and start singing along. I notice Max’s pained expression and ask him what’s wrong.
“Nothing, it’s just good to see that some things, (cough) like your voice (cough, cough) never change.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?” I ask.
“Nothing.”
“Are you making fun of my voice?” I ask in all playful seriousness.
“NO!”
“I think that you are.” I say and harrumph.
“Well, if you quit signing I won’t have to make fun of your voice and then there won’t be an accident.” He says. I roll my eyes. “How much longer?” I whine.
“Liz.” He says in a warning tone. I get the message and back off. Arghhh!! Why did the Lord make me so aggravating? I fall asleep pretty fast, and wake up to Max shaking me. “Wha..? I say getting up.
“We’re here.” He says simply and I open my eyes to take in the lights before me. The Annual Carnival. “Max!” I exclaim awestricken. I can’t believe he brought me here, so many memories. I sigh to myself and Max lends me his hand to hop out of the jeep. “So do you like?” He asks turning towards me.
“I love.” I say sincerely. Oh, I think Hell just froze over. Me and Max actually being friendly and sincere again. Who would have thought? “Let’s go to the Maze of Mirrors.” He says leading me away.
Flashback
“Max, Liz, be careful!” Mrs. Evans shouts as we head off into the crowd.
“So where to Max?” I ask.
“Let’s go on the tilt-a-whirl.” He says.
“Ughh…Why did we have to come here? Carnivals are so stupid.” I say in my ten year old voice.
“Come on Parker, let’s go have some fun!”
“Fun, at a Carnival? There is no such thing as fun here.” I say pouting.
“Then we’ll just have to make our own fun don’t we?”
End Flashback
“F is for friends who do stuff together, U is for you and me, N is for anywhere and anytime at all down here in the deep blue sea.” I sing softly to myself.
“What was that?” Max asks me scratching behind his ears.
“Nothing.” I say blushing.
“Right.” He says sarcastically. And I thought sarcasm was my thing. We walk silently to our destination. “Never would have pegged you as someone who watches Sponge Bob.”
“Can’t help it, guilt pleasure.” I say with a shrug of my shoulders.
“F is for fire that burns down the city, U is for uranium…bombs, N is for no survivors.” Max sings. I laugh at his horrible falsetto voice. He’s obviously singing bad to make the tension disappear. He always was a good singer. “It’s good to hear you laugh again.” He says smiling.
“Well I haven’t really had anything to laugh about lately.” I say.
“Well, tonight Parker all that is going to change.” He says as we arrive at the Maze of Mirrors. “Lets go have some fun.” He grabs my hand and warmth shoots through my entire body. I swallow and follow him in. “Max, I just remembered how much I hate this place.” I say gripping him tighter.
“No worries Lizard I’m not leaving you behind this time.” He says softly. And I realize that he’s not just talking about the maze.
“I’m holding you to that.”
We get through the maze in 25 minutes, I know. PATHETIC. Well that’s what happens when you let Mr. Know-It-All lead. “I swear that I thought the exit was right there.” He says, his ego wounded.
“Uh huh, I believe you.” I say sarcastically.
“Let’s go get some corn dogs.” We walk over to the bench after getting our food sit. “So what did you do for fun in Boston?” He asks suddenly.
“Jase.” I say. Max chokes on he piece in his mouthy and looks I dunno disappointed. “Oh.” All he said.
“Max, I was just kidding. Lighten up.” I say hitting his shoulder.
“So you’re still a… Well, you know…”
“Yes.”
“That’s cool.” He says relaxing again.
“And what about you Mr. Evans? Let a certain blonde haired girl in your pants?” I ask with one eyebrow raised. I pray that he did not let the she-devil touch him.
“NO!” He exclaims. Then settles down when he hears people staring at him as if her were and alien. “I mean, I wasn’t exactly ready to do that yet.”
“Oh but if you were, you’d be taking her right on the floor of the Crashdown.”
“No.” He says again only a little bit lower than the first one.
“Max, come on you were practically like a dog on heat going after her in middle school. You’re telling me you never had sex with Carol Ann?”
“Yes, she was willing, you know. But I wasn’t.” He finishes awkwardly.
“Your not just saying that for my benefit are you?”
“I promise.” He says.
“Fine. I’m letting that go…for now.”
“What about you? Ever tried to get into the pants of a blued eyed boy?”
“Always.” I say smiling.
Max starts laughing but stops when he notices my serious look. “You were joking…right?” He asks.
“Yep.” I say and join him in the laughter. As I look at him smiling, I can’t help but feel the start of a new and better friendship. I’ve finally started having actual fun with my old best friend, who would have thought. “Lets go play some carnival games.” Max says jumping up and holding out his hands. We take our first at the one booth where you shoot the thingy full of water and it pops. Max takes his am and shots hit it dead center, seconds later the balloon pops and Max asks me to pick a prize.
“I want the purple bear.” I say smiling.
“Purple bear it is.”
Next booth is the on where you shoot a certain amount of ducks and get a prize. By the end I get to pick one of the huge prizes. I pick a large sized Dumbo. “Why did you pick that one? I thought the bear was cuter.” He says.
“It reminds me of you.” I say and saunter off to the next booth. “What’s that suppose to mean?” He shouts out. “You better not be making fun of my ears!” He shouts again. I laugh histerically as he catches up.
12 games and 12 stuff animals later, “Max can we please put all of this in the jeep??” I ask. I can’t believe he’s actually making me carry this. “Nope it’s your punishment for making fun of the ears. However if you apologize and we’ll go to the jeep.”
“Never.” I say sticking out my tongue even though he can’t see it through the toys.
“Fine.” He says and holds my arm as we start walking again.
“Max….” I whine.
“Say it.”
“Fine I’m sorry for making fun of your ears… But they are abnormally huge.” I say the last bit under my breath.
“And?”
“And I think that they are really adorable and suit you well… Yeah, if you were from another planet.” I mumble.
“And?”
“And you do not resemble an elephant… More like a monkey.” I whisper behind the piles of stuff.
“Apology accepted now, let’s put this in the jeep.” He says.
Ha ha sucker!
“Great.” I say.

Max’s POV
“Now, let’s finish this night off with the Ferris wheel.” I say as she finishes her cotton candy.
“Okay.” She says licking her lips clean of the sugary substance I swallow a moan.
“Lets go.” I say pulling her hand. We arrive there and wait a while before stepping on. “I love the Ferris wheel.” She sighs.
“Yeah, but if I recall correctly, you hated it before.” I say smiling.
“It was the height, but I’m over it now.” She says.
“Yeah, now you’re Liz Parker the bad ass.”
“Hey, when I got back, The Roswellian people rubbed me the wrong way.” She says defensively.
“I know, I know. It did look hot on you though.” I say smirking as she blushes.
“Save the flattery for someone else Evans… It looks beautiful out there.” She says as the cart gets higher and higher.
“I looks even better in here.” I say and she turns to look at me in surprise.
She opens her mouth to say something when the Ferris wheel jerks causing her to swing towards me, and we both fall. She lets out a little shriek and lands on top of me. She looks down at me and we stay like this for a while, just staring. I lose the battle inside myself and pull her down towards me, our lips meeting for the first time. She freezes and does noting as I kiss her. Gradually she relaxes and I lick her bottom lip begging for entrance. She opens up her mouth and I let out a moan, pulling her closer.
It should have been like this from the beginning, not me and Carol Ann. Not her and Jase, but us. Me and Liz. Max Evans and Liz parker. We continue to kiss heavily and get close. Well, as close as one can get.
“Max.” She moans in my ear as I sit up kissing her neck. The wheel jerks breaking us from our daze and we straighten ourselves on the way back down. We step out of the cart in silence and walk towards well, nowhere.
She’s most likely thinking that is was all a huge mistake and she’s wondering how to tell me. I’m lost in my thoughts when suddenly her hand slips into mine. I look at her. “Liz…” I falter. What in the world do I say to her? “Liz-” I begin but she kisses me gently on the corner of my mouth. I pull away shocked as she gives me a shy smile. “Max, there’s tons of things running through your head right now, as well as mine, but let’s just go and have fun. We can talk about it on the way home.” She says.
“What if my fun consists of kissing you?” I ask suddenly in a good mood. Maybe this will work out. Maybe she doesn’t think it was a mistake after all. “As long as you consult me before it happens.” She says and I choose that moment to kiss her again. It’s different that in the Ferris, it’s gentler, less hungry. Before she deepens it I pull away.
“Now where would be the fun in that?” I ask referring to her question.
“Let’s go to the photo booth!” She exclaims excitedly.
“Lead the way.” And she does.
We take a few serious shots and move straight into the funny ones. Tongues sticking out, facial features hideous, and in the last one, I kiss her. I always want to remember this night. Our night away from the drama and frustration of everyday life. Our fun.
She blushes when we pull back. “Now, let’s get back to the games.” I say.
I play a miniature basketball game and win her another toy. “Max I think I have enough to last me a lifetime. Lets go do something else.” She says as I hand her the multi-colored butterfly.
“Like what?” She gets a gleam in her eyes and I know what she’s thinking.
“Liz, no. Remember that got us kicked out last time!” I whine. She gives me the sad puppy dog look and I hear myself saying, “To the food court it is!”
FOOD COURT
45 MINUTES LATER
“You are no longer allowed to come back to this carnival for 3 years!” The hairy man said. “This was just rude, juvenile and stupid!” He shouts. Liz starts shaking with laughter and I join her.
“Now I have to clean this up!” He screams stomping away.
“Liz… Why am I always dragged into doing this every time I come here?”
“Because, it’s fun.” She says. I take in her food stained clothes and soda-wet hair. Man, that food fight was better than all the rest. “Your parents are going to kill me.” I groan.
“I know.” She says smiling. Suddenly her eyes take on a sad dull color and she frowns. “What?” I ask.
“I just don’t want tonight to end.”
“Neither do I.” I sigh and hold my hand out to her as I have done so many times tonight. We walk to the car hand in hand. Guess it’s time to have that talk. Oh joy...

It’s about damn time! Finally, thank the Lord!!! Hallelujah!! Amen! Okay enough of that. As Max and Liz contemplate their uh…relationship. Across town in Roswell, two other people are plotting their demise. The true test has yet to come. But can they even make it there?
