Chapter 21
GTO 1970 Dodge Charger
“Not looking to hot there are ya, Mama?” Maria asked placing her hand over Liz’s scolding forehead to take her temperature and then quickly holding on to the steering wheel.
“Neither are you.” Liz said holding her stomach, noticing Maria was sweating just as much as she was.
“Yeah, well, I’m dating Michael Guerin. What’s your excuse?” Maria asked with a sick chuckle.
“God, you weren’t kidding about the morning sickness.” Liz said covering her mouth. “Oh, God. Pull over.” Liz demanded pulling over, swinging her door open and regurgitated what seemed to be everything she’s eaten all year. Aria got out and went to help Liz, but at the sight of Liz’s vomit she began to puke herself. “I’ll drive.” Liz moaned as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
”No, Liz. You’re sicker than I am and besides we’re almost there.” Maria informed her. “Why don’t you keep reading to me from the Alien Dictionary book. Tell me more about Space boy.” Maria asked trying to occupy Liz from thinking about puking anymore than she was.
“Uh, okay.” Liz said pulling the book and the translation sheets from the glove compartment. “Rath, was the general of the Royal army. Kivar was leader of another rebellious army that derived from Rath’s army, it doesn’t explain who they were, it just says with the help of Vilandra he infiltrated the palace and killed the Royal Four along with the big amount of bodyguards, personnel, etc., etc. Collateral damages. Oh, wait over here it talks more about Courtney.”
“Uh, I had enough of the hussy.” Maria rolled her eyes.
“It says she tried to seduce Rath, with ideas of love and the power of the throne, but Rath rejected her. Did you hear that? He said no!” Liz cheered.
“Yeah, probably because he had some other Antarian hussy on the side.” Maria snorted not impressed.
“Maria! There’s a page in her about their powers.” Liz said not believing how negative Maria was being. “Oh, look, a gas station. I need to get some Tic-Tacs or mouthwash to get this vomit taste out of my mouth.” Liz told her.
“Ditto.” Maria said pulling into the side of the gas station. They went inside and grabbed a bottle of minty fresh mouthwash and head back towards the car. They took their swigs of mouthwash and began to gurgle the liquid in their mouths. The spit it out the green liquid on the wall of the gas station, Maria turned around to head back towards the ca, while Liz took another swig to make sure the taste was gone. Suddenly the load roars of two men yelling startled the both of them. Maria turned to look at Liz who was at least five feet away, and before they knew it, ‘POW. POW’, the sounds of a shotgun were heard along with glass shattering. Time must have been going a mile a minute to acknowledge the split up shot gun fragments head both Maria and Liz’s way. They both covered themselves instinctively yelling, but with eerie luck, a shield bubbled around both Maria and Liz, stopping the fragments dead on their tracks. Maria ad Liz slowly opened their eyes seeing the last few seconds of the blue shields holding before they disappeared, then quickly shot a look of bewilderment to each other.
“Liz?” Maria called out.
“Yeah.”
“Did you just see what I just saw?” Maria asked still astounded. Liz just nodded. “Did you just get a new power? Because it couldn’t have been at a better time for you to do that.” Maria asked relieved.
“No. Actually I think we both did it.” Liz said in shock.
