Chapter 20

"Hello?" Liz answered her phone.

But Max and Isabel startled when they heard the door opening violently and Hurrican Maria stepping in the appartment.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? We've told you to not bother her again and what do you do, you came here to help him to call her again!" Maria yelled infuriated that Isabel fled here to call Liz.

"HELLO! Is that Maria that I hear screaming?" Liz asked. "HEY! You called me, so the least you can do is to talk to me when I pick up the phone! HEELLLLLOOOOO!" she screamed over the phone.

"Humm...Liz, it's me Isabel. Humm...I'm sorry to bother you. I thought that I could call you because we we're friends, but Maria decided other wise......" Isabel started to explain.

"What are you talking about? Of course you can call me, as much as you want, we're friends! Tell Maria to stop it's not her decision who can or who can't call me!" she replied.

"SHE DIDN'T TELL YOU THE WHOLE TRUTH! SHE CALLED YOU SO MAX CAN TALK TO YOU! DO YOU STILL AGREE?" Maria screamed for Liz to hear her.

There was a awkward silence in the room, and Liz was silent too. Max wanted to talk to her and Isabel made the call for him.. After a while, Liz heard that none of her friends were talking. "Isabel, I'd like to talk to Maria, please." she asked softly.

"Liiizzz!..........OKAY, if that's what you want! Maria, Liz wants to talk to you." she said looking sadly at Max while she handed the phone to her friend.

He shook his head *Damn Maria and the others! If they didn't come here, maybe I could have a chance to talk to Liz, to try to explain...but I lost my chance now!* he thought and went to his room slamming the door behind him.

"Liz? Chica, I'm sorry. I...WE warned Isabel and told her to stop bothering you, I'm..." she began but Liz cut her off.

"MARIA! Stop rambling, please! I want to talk with Max...." she said but Maria howled "NOOOO! LIIIZZZ! please don't do that!" she couldn't believe that Liz wanted to talk to the man who was responsible for her being in Harvard....Alone since all of her friends were here.

"Maria, listen to me. I need to talk to him...I need to hear what he has to say about Tess. I'm sorry if you're disappointed but it's MY LIFE, and I intend to manage it like I want. Sorry to be so rude. I don't want you to be upset, but you have to let me do what I've have to do, okay Ria?" she asked softly. She knew that Maria was worried about her, but she had to talk to Max if he wanted too.

"OKAY.. You're the boss, Chica!" she said resigning herself. "MARIA! MARIA!" she heard Liz calling on the other end. "Yeah, Liz?"

"Maria, tell the others that I want to talk to Max, alone. ALONE! Maria, promise me." she pleaded.

"Okay, I promise."

"Thank you Ria, you're like a sister to me. And please don't worry, okay?..Now give the phone to Isabel." she ordered.

"Isabel, Liz wants to talk to you." she said handing her the phone. " Oohhh I forgot..BYE LIZ!! I'LL CALL YOU LATER!"

"BYE RIA....Isabel, I want to talk to Max if he still wants to, but like I said to Maria, I want us to be COMPLETELY ALONE! So can you ask him and let him call me back, it's getting expensive to stay on the phone. I'll be waiting for his call." she said calmly, even if she was being far from staying calm.

"Okay, Liz. I'll tell them and I'm sure he'll call you back..Bye Liz." she said and hung up the phone..

She turned around to see that her friends were looking at her. "Isabel, Maria told us what Liz wanted. Even if I disagree, I've no choice than accept her decision. As she said, she has the right to manage her life like she wants. I'm sorry if she yelled too you but try to understand, honey." Alex said taking her hand in his.

"I understand Alex and I hope you'll understand Max as well." she retorted scrutinizing him.

"I know that Max is your brother and you want to help him. We have to let them talk and we'll see what's going to happen between them. I agree that it's their business, but we love them and we want the best for them." he said with a smile.

"You're right. Alex, she waiting for Max's call. Let me go, I will tell him and then I come with you." she said walking to Max's room. When she opened the door, she stopped in her tracks . Max was on his bed, his head buried in a pillow, sobbing.
She hadn't time to close the door behind her, so the others heard it to and came to the doorway. Even if Alex and Maria wanted to protect Liz, they couldn't be heartless hearing Max cry, they stood there in silence when Isabel approached the bed.

"Max...Max...Stop crying. She wants to talk to you. She's waiting for your call." she said softly but Max didn't respond. In fact, Max was crying so hard that he thought he was dreaming hearing Isabel's words.

"Max., come on, she's waiting for you...Maaxx, sit up and stop crying. Please, look at me." she said softly.

He did as he was told. "What did you say?" he asked with a hoarse voice.

"I talked to her, she agreed to talk to you, Max." she said.

He looked up and saw the whole gang in the doorway. "And you are okay with that? Maria, how do you feel about that?" he asked with anger in the voice

"I don't trust you Max, but it's Liz's decision and I promised her to stop interfering in her life. Let me just tell you something, Max. If you say something wrong.... or if you hurt her again....You better flee to another planet, because you won't be safe. We will hunt you down. Count on me, on us for that." she stated flatly and the others nodded.

"And you better stop playing with Tess, Max. I know that you wanted to get on my nerves, but don't try that another time, I won't believe you then." Michael said roughly.

"He threw her out of his room when she came earlier!" Isabel blurted out.

"WHAT?? TESS WAS THERE?" Michael yelled.

Max got up and stood beside him. "You didn't listen to what Isabel just said...I threw her out of my room. I told her that I've just wanted to irritate you and that I've no intentions to go out with her. I hope she understood. But believe me, I threw her out of my room. And even if it's none of your business, I'm madly in love with Liz. I'm sad that I didn't find this out long before, but that's life. I won't hurt her, Maria. I won't need to flee to another planet. I'll be safe being around you and being with Liz. That my biggest wish!" he said looking Michael straight in his eyes.

"Okay, let's go. She's waiting for Max. Can you call us when it'll be over?" Michael asked. Max nodded.

They left the room. Max was alone now, before he did anything, he checked the door, in case Tess would come back again. Then, he went to his room and took his phone. She was waiting for his call. After all this time, he was going to talk normally with his best friend... the woman he was madly in love with.

He dialed her number slowly....."Hello? Max?" hearing her voice, he felt tears starting in his eyes. "Liz." he replied softly. "I'm so happy to hear your voice."

"Me too. How are you?" she asked.

"Fine...I miss you, so much!"

"............................."

"Liz? Are you still there?...Listen, I want to apologize Liz, for all what I said to you, for all what I did to you. I know that you have the right to be mad at me..I understand that. I know that you're far away from us because of me, and I'm sorry. I was a fool, an idiot. Liz I'll understand if you don't want to forgive me. But I didn't want to talk to you to ask you for your forgiveness. I only wanted to apologize, to tell you that I love you and always will. To tell you that, even if you don't come back now, I'll wait for you."

"Max, what's about Tess? Michael told me...." she started to question him but he cut her off.

"I threw her out of my room earlier!" he blurted out.

"WHAT? She was in your room?" she screamed over the phone.

Max heard the pain in her voice. He had promised to not hurt her, and yet he did.

"Liz, she came earlier in my room without me knowing, but I threw her out of my room. I told her that I invited her in my room just to get on Michael and Alex"s nerves. I swear to you Liz, it's over with her." he said fervently.

"It's over for now, but Max, she isn't going to give up on you, ever. And are you forgeting that you've already been with her, so it's too late now." she said sadly.

"What do you mean, I've already been with her Liz?" he asked. He knew perfectly what she was meant, but he wanted her to say it. He wanted to tell her that no one had ever been with him the way she thought Tess was.

"Max, I know what a girl and a guy do when they date, most of all a girl like Tess who wants you so badly." she said angry to know that he thought she was more naive than she was.

"I know that. I mean, I know that you think that I've slept with Tess.... Liz, I've never slept with any girl.... I'm waiting for you! My heart, my soul and even my body is waiting for YOU! So just know this. I'm waiting for you, Liz."

Chapter 21

Liz was speechless *He never slept with any girl!....he is waiting for her!...* she felt her heart swelling with happyness, he was not only her best friend but he never betrayed her....She was about to tell him to forgive her behavior too when she remembered that he never told her that before.

"Why are you telling me that now? Why didn't you tell me that before I left? or instead of letting me think that something happened between you and Tess so long before? Why Max?"
"Liz, all I can say is that I'm sorry. I was an idiot and I didn't know that I was so madly in love with my best friend...." he began and she cut him off

"I'm not talking only about your love Max, I supposed that you slept with Tess. I was certain that you already have a sexual life and you come here to tell me that YOU'RE WAITING FOR ME?" she yelled "Geez, Maaaxx! You've just figured out that you were in love with me, ok.... But you never slept with any girl! you should have told me that! that was important for me to know it!" she said sadly.

She had been happy to hear that he never slept with any girl, most of all Tess, but she couldn't help to be furious, because of his silence, they were separated by thousands miles for years.
"Liz, listen Baby, I know what you're thinking. If we had talked before, you would be here beside me for the moment, instead of just talking on that phone. Liz, what's important is that you'll be able to think about a relationship between us, maybe, we'll find a way to not be apart for so long." he said with hope in his voice

"I don't want to leave Harvard, Ma x, I'm sorry. It's out of question for me to come to Las Cruzes, if that's what you had in mind when you said that we found a way. FORGET IT!" she said angrily.
"Liz, that's not what I said. And you wouldn't be ready to do it if we had settled all our problems already." he said softly. "Don't focus about Las Cruzes for the moment, we are not talking about that."

"I know. I'm sorry, I jumped on a conclusion since we didn't talk about the essential." she said.

"Liz, I know what I want with you. Do you know what you want with me?" he asked scared to hear that she wouldn't want anything to do with him.

"Max to tell the truth, I left Roswell sure that I would never want anything to do with you, I was so angry and sad in the same time. You kept saying that you loved me and you were confusing me with these words. Max we've been best friends since so long, I was devasted to have lost your friendship. Now, we're able to talk again together without anger or grudge, that's important. We have time, Max. We should take things slowly, being friends first and see how things work out." she said seriously

"................................Ok. I agree with you. We'll take things slowly and we'll know, at least you'll know. In my heart, I already know. Liz, for the moment, I'd like you to allow me to talk to you as much as I want. I mean if you want it too, of course. I need to talk to you, I need to hear your voice...I need you. If I can't have you by my side, at least I could hear you. Do you allow me to call you?" he asked shyly.

"Ok, Max. You can call me. We have to talk, we have to get used again one another...and maybe when I'll come back to Roswell...we...."she began hesitantly, not able to say that she hoped he would be there, waiting for her like he said lately.

But Max seemed to read her mind "I'll be there Liz, waiting for you. I promise Liz, there couldn't be another than you." he swore to her fervently.
"I hope you mean what you say, Max. But I don't want to live with a hope that can be destroyed if you can't hold your word. Listen Max, don't promise, we'll see day by day what will happen, ok?" she asked

"Ok, Liz. I won't promise if you're scared, but I can swear to you that you don't have to be scared of Tess, sorry to talk about her again, but I want you to believe me, Liz, I won't let anyone ruin our relationship. You're my life, Liz, you're my everything. I love you more than life itself Liz." he swore to her.

Max was sad that Liz didn't tell him that she loved him too, but he reasoned himself knowing that it was too soon, she just agreed to talk to him, to come back to their friendship. He hoped that one day, she'll be able to love him the way he was loving her.

"Max, we have to stop, it's expensive and if we stay hours on the phone we'll spend all our money in one month...If you want, we could agree to talk every weeks, what do you think about that?" she inquired

"Liz, take care of your money, and let me do it with mine. I couldn't wait for a week to listen your voice again. I'll call you back soon, certainly before next week. Take care of you, love." he said softly.

"You too Max, bye." and she hung up, she was unable to confess her true feelings, she was scared of being hurt once again. She felt warm to hear Max swearing his undying love to her, but truth is that they'll wait for long before they'll see each other.

Max looked at his phone, Liz was scared of involving herself more, or she didn't believe him when he swore to her that he would be waiting for her, even years. Suddenly, he had an idea, he took her phone and called his father.

"Dad, hi it's me. Look, I call you just to tell you that I'm going to withdraw some money from my account." he announced him
"Can I ask you why? Not because I don't allow you to do it, but just to know. Do you need something to buy?we can help you, your mom and I." Mr Evans replied

"Actually not. Dad, it's not that I don't want to tell you but I'm afraid of you not agree with my project." he said

"Max, if your project makes sense, I have any reason to disagree with you. Tell me and we'll see how I can help you. But I don't want to interfere in your life, if it's something indiscreet."

"Ineedtobuyaticket" Max mumbled
"Sorry Son, I didn't understand what you said..."
"I need to buy a ticket. I have to go somewhere and I've not enough money here to pay the ticket." he said, worried about his father's reaction.

"You want to go and see Liz, that's your project."
"You disagree with me?" he asked anxious

"No. I know that Liz is important in your life, Son. If you need to see her, I understand. I just want you to be sure that you won't have any problem with Las Cruzes. By the way, does she know that you're coming?" he asked a little amused.

"No, I want to surprise her. I've just talked with her and I realised that I missed her a lot. I'm dying here without her, Dad. I'm happy you've accepted the withdrawal on my account. Thank you!" he said touched by his father's support.

"I'm going to do more than allowing you to withdraw. I'm going to buy your ticket here, just tell me when do you want to go to Harvard?" he asked
".............................Thank you Dad, you don't know what's that means for me, you're helping me a lot. I want to spend the week end there. What do you think if I leave on friday morning and I'll be back on sunday night."Max was amazed by his father's understanding, so much than he had tears swimming in his eyes "Dad, I want to thank you I never hoped that you would help me this way." he added with a husky voice.

"Max, I know what Liz means to you, I knew it before you realize it yourself. I'm here for you and I'll always be. Look you'll find the ticket at the airport, have a good flight and don't forget to come back!" Mr Evans said with a smile in his voice.
"I won't Dad and be sure that I'll do my best for you and Mom to be proud of me. I promise." he swore to his father.
"I trust you my son, go and come back happy. Call us when you'll be back." he said
"I promise. Bye Dad kiss Mom for me and I'll call back on monday and thank you very much."
"Bye son."

When he hung up, Max began to jump all around the room crying out "Yeah! Yeah!" that's how his sister and their friends found him when they came back there.

"Max? What happened to you? Are you crazy?" Isabel asked with concern
"No...sorry! Nothing happened, I mean yes...I talked to Liz.." he said grinning. He couldn't help but grin but he refused to tell them his project. He was certain that they won't agree with him or worse they will prevent him to go to see Liz and he couldn't accept it.

"What did she say?" Maria asked
"She agreed with me to have a talk once a week." he answered knowing well that was not what Maria was talking about. But after all, she deserved him to laugh at her a little.

"That's not what matters me, Max! I want to know what she said to you!" she retorted angry.
"Sorry, Maria, but that's none of your business. That's between Liz and me, if you want to know call her and if she's ready to tell you about us...." Maria cut him off

"US?? IS THERE A "US" about you and Liz? Did she agree to come back to you?" she asked angry and excited all together.

"MARIA! STOP IT!" they all startled when Michael cried out. "Liz agreed to talk to him once a week, ok. You don't have to know anything else, that's their problem not yours. So now if you want to come here, I want to have my girlfriend with me and not some hurricane who pretends to be a cop. Come here." he said with authority and all the people in the room was dumbfounded to see "Hurricane Maria" melted and obey with a big smile. They left the room hand in hand.

Alex went beside Isabel "Isabel, I miss my girlfriend too and since Max is able to handle his problems with Liz, maybe you and me..." he said winking toward his room.
Isabel kissed him on the cheek "Just give me one second, go ahead I'm coming" she said giving him a peck on his lips. And Alex walked out Max's room without another word.

"Now, tell me you seemed too happy when we came back, I don't believe that it's just because Liz agreed to talk to you once a week. Please Max, tell me, I won't tell anyone." she begged him
"Is, I can't tell you, just know that I'm more than happy and I hope that soon I'll be even more. Trust me and thank you to always be by my side, I'll be grateful forever." he said and kissed her on the cheeks.

"I hope you'll tell me soon. I love you Brother." she said huskily.
"I know and I love you too."

After Isabel left, Max lay on his bed and closed his eyes. He had a bright smile on his lips : *Friday, he was going to see Liz and he was hoping that everything would be fine between them."

Chapter 22

On friday, 6:00 in the morning

Max woke up earlier to pack his things for his week end in Harvard. He didn't want Michael or Alex find out where he was going, so he left a note for them, telling that he wanted to be alone this week end , and was going to the cabin his parents own. He added that he won't answer if they call, he didn't want to have the bad luck to be annoyed by Tess.

He stepped out of the room silently, and ran to his jeep. His flight was at 7:30, he had just the time to get there and board.

In the meantime, Liz was in her room getting ready to go to her classes. Shiri came into the kitchen "Liz, I didn't see you since the last time you came with us, everything is ok?" she asked with concern.

"Actually yes, everything is ok, Shiri. Don't worry." she said with a smile.

"Something I have missing? I didn't see you smiling since you came here! Do you want to talk about it?" she asked
"Well, I talked with an old friend yesterday, and I learnt some news that make me smile. It's something important for me." she told her.

"And would I be indiscreet if I asked you who is that OLD friend of you who made you so happy?" she teased

"My best friend Max Evans." she blurted out.

"You didn't tell me about that Max Evans, all what you talked about was that man you were drool over, I don't know his name." she replied

"His name? Max Evans.....yeah, my best friend, the man I'm in love with since I'm a little girl." she said blushing. She was not the kind of girl who like to tell her private life. Even if Shiri was a nice girl and she was caring about her, Liz was embarrassed to talk with a almost stranger about her love life.

Shiri sat down on her booth and looked at Liz "I'm curious to know about him. He must be something for you to refuse to go out with some other guys, isn't he?" she asked

"Shiri, I'm not the kind of girl who dates a lot of guys. I knew Max since long and I fell in love with him, I was unable to see the other guys since then. And even if I'm growing older, I can't change. It's Max, it'll always be him. And I'm sorry about your friend, I know that you did your best for me...."

"Oh don't worry about Jason, of course he fell for you, but I'll be able to explain to him that your heart is taken since long. So tell me, are you leaving Harvard to go with him?" she asked

"NOO! It's out of question. I've always dreamt to come here and study and being with Max won't make me change my mind for anything in the world. Shiri, I've told you, I want to be someone in my life, someone I could be proud, and I'll do everything to reach that goal." she stated

"Liz? You're already someone. You don't know it, but I can tell you and all the people who know you too, you're already someone..." she said huskily. "OK, we're not going to cry or something else....ok, girlfriend, what are you going to do today...tonight! it's friday! Don't tell me that you have to work or anything else like this, I'll refuse to hear. So tonight my friend, you're going to put your sexiest dress and go out with us. Don't worry, nothing will happen to you. I just want you to enjoy your life, Liz."

"I know Shiri. I'm not here since long, but I like you, you're like a sister for me." she said hoarsly.

"Liz, I've told you, I don't want to cry today. You were happy when I saw you, I assume that you're in this mood since yesterday, I don't want you to be sad now. So take your breakfast quietly and do what you have to do until 7:00, but after that you "belong" to me, at least no to me but to your new friends. Okayy?" she said and after kissing her on the cheek, she walked out of the kitchen.

Airport of Santa Fe

Max was running, he was so scared to miss the plane. He reached, panting, the boarding door, the hostess smiled when she saw the young man breathing so heavily "You didn't have to run you know, you had all the time." she said with a smile

"I know, I was just too scared to miss the plane and I prefer to be here earlier than later. Thank you" he explained.

Half an hour later, the plane was taking off and Max seated in his place sighed *In a few hours, I'll be with her* he thought with a smile and he kept that smile while he was sleeping.

Harvard, a few hours later

Max arrived at the famous university in a cab. He was so eager to see Liz, to see the surprise written on her beautiful face that he jumped out of the cab, forgetting to pay. "Hey, didn't you forget something, Young man?" the driver asked and he burst out laughing when he saw Max's face redden. "Don't worry, I understand what love is!" he said winking.

"Is that that obvious?" Max asked shyly.
"Don't worry, she won't see it. I'm an old man and I know acknowledge love when I see it written on a face. That's your case, Young man. Thank you and good luck!" he said when Max paid him.

With his bag on his shoulder, he walked until the assistant desk "Hi, I'm looking for Liz Parker's room, please." he asked.
"Can I ask you who are you Young man?" she asked suspicious

"Sorry, I'm Max Evans, I came for Las Cruzes to see Liz. I'm her best friend." he said and leaning toward the old woman he added "She doesn't know that I'm here, I want to make a surprise for her."

Of course the assistant was a old and romantic woman and Max was gorgeous. She couldn't help but gave in "That's so cute! Liz Parker is for sure a lucky young girl for you to flight until Harvard to surprise her. But, you'll have to wait, she certainly is in classes for the moment. If you want, I could make a call and she'll come here after her classes." she said. She wanted to see Liz's face

"You're very kind, but I prefer to go in her room or maybe it's forbidden?" he asked.

"Actually yes. And I don't know if her roomate is over there..." she said reflecting. She looked at him, he was really cute and that would be a shame to not let him see his girlfriend. He came from so far.

"Look, don't say that I allowed you, I would loose my job. Go at the dormitory, she is living at the 3rd floor, appartment 324. Maybe you'll find her roomate Shiri. Good luck." she said with a smile.

Max ran out the room and crossed the college to find the dormitory. *She said 3rd floor* he said to himself and climb the stairs and began to search Liz's appartment. He was still looking for it when he saw a long dark haired woman stepping out of an appartment "LIZ!" he called.

The woman turned around, and even if she looked like her, she was not Liz. "I'm sorry, I'm looking for Liz Parker's appartment, maybe you could help me." he asked smiling.

"I'm Shiri, her roomate. Who are you?" she asked looking at him defiantly.

"I'm Max..." but she cut him off "MAX EVANS??? Whaou, I'm very glad to meet you. Liz...OH, NO! She doesn't know you're here, does she?" she asked

"Actually I wanted to surprise her, I wouldn't like her to know that I'm here before she sees me." he pleaded

"I understand...Whaou! I can't believe you came here to see her! You must love her!" she said with envy.

"I do love her.....Humm, is there any place I could wait for her with her seeing me?" he asked

"Do you intend to wait for her in the appartment?" she asked back.

"Depends. Where is she going after her classes?" he inquired

"Or at the library or she comes back here.....Humm, look Max...can I call you Max" she asked shyly

"Sure! And you it's....Shiri right?" he said " Let me tell you that you could be her sister, from far you look like Liz." he said with a bright smile.

Shiri decided that Max was a wonderful man and he deserved her to help him, to help them both actually.

"Max, stay here. Rest a little, I'm going to bring her here without telling her that you're here. OK?"

"Thank you, I appreciate. Liz is lucky to have a friend like you." he complimented her.

"I think she's lucky to have a boyfriend who crossed the States to be with her!" she replied "I'll be back soon, rest in her room, that the right door." she said and closed the door and went to take Liz back in her room.

After an hour, Max heard voices across the front door. His heart raced when he recongnize Liz's voice. Then the door opened and she stepped in the appartment, still talking to Shiri.

"I don't understand Shiri. What do you need to tell me that you can't say at the library?" she asked angryly.

Max appeared at the doorway but she had her back facing him, she didn't see him. His heart was stammering in his chest, at that moment he was wondering how she'll react when she'll see him and he was scared to death that she would be upset...Shiri was facing him and she smiled.

"Hey keep quiet girlfriend. I wanted to talk about your best friend, you know Max." she began not really knowing where she was going.

"Shiri? Are you crazy? What are talking about? You pulled me here to talk about Max?" she asked wondering if she was living on the same planet than Shiri.

"Actually, I don't want to talk with you about Max" Shiri said, she put her hands on her shoulders and turned her around for her to face Max, Liz gasped "He crossed the country to see you!" she said.

Liz was completely amazed when she saw Max in her appartment, she put her hand on her mouth and couldn't stop tears to flow on her cheeks. Since Shiri, was retreating in her room, Max walked toward Liz, smiling. He was trembling but he continued to walk. He stood in front of her.

"Maaaxx! Are you really here" she asked before she fainted.

Hey guys, I'm back with a new chapter. I hope you'll like it.

I was glad to see that I was able to make you laugh with Liz fainting, now in this part, you'll see what happens with our couple.
words have been said, no always the good ones and that's the moment for them to put everything on the table.

Chapter 23

"Maaaxx! You're really here?" she asked before she fainted.

Max jumped beside her and took her in his arms "Liz...Liz, look at me Baby!" he begged kissing her forehead. "Liz...It's me Max, I didn't know that seeing me would make you faint." he said when Liz opened her eyes slowly.

She couldn't believe that he was there, in her room. She blinked twice to see if he would disappear. No, he was still here looking at her. "Max? What are you doing here?" she asked now upset that he didn't tell her he was coming. She stood up and was facing him now.

"Ok, after you fainted in my arms, I've to deal with your anger now! What a way to greet your best friend who crossed the country to surprise you." he said pretending to be upset too.

He couldn't help to smile because he saw the gleam of joy in Liz's eyes and he knew that she didn't want to surrender so easily. He knew that they have to talk to make things working out between them, but for now, he was enjoying that he had Liz in his arms and couldn't think about something else

"MAX?? What are you doing here? Why don't you tell me that you were coming? How did you get in my room? she would have continued to questionning him, but Max found a perfect way to stop her, he pulled her tighter against his chest and kissed her.

Surprised first, she tried to push him away with her hands, but soon those hands came around his neck and she kissed him back.

He groaned and tightened his grip. His heart was racing when he felt her shiver into his arms. He massaged her bottom lip with his tongue and Liz parted her lips with a moan granting him the access he was asking.

He dipped his tongue in her mouth, making love to her mouth the way he wanted to make love to her body, but he knew that was too soon. Having her in his arms, kissing her breathlessly was more than he could have hoped for.

They pulled away, panting, but Max didn't let her go. He had the woman he loved in his arms and that's all that mattered him. "Max, as much as I like for you to kiss me, I want my answers! What are you doing here?" she asked again.

"Ok, I'll answer. Could we sit down first? I wasn't expecting you to faint and I need to sit down." he said as he walked with her toward the couch. He refused again to let her move away from him, and pulled her into his arms "This is the best place for you to get your answers, Liz." he stated with a smile.

Liz sighed, she missed to be in his arms too, she missed her best friend and he was here holding her tight. She looked up at him, unaware how sexy she was with her parted lips, her beautiful doe eyes, he couldn't help but kissed her fiercely again. He couldn't get enough of her.

She was his best friend but now that he found out he was madly in love with her, all that he wanted was to spend all his time with her, kissing her, caressing her....making love to her...*MAAX! Stop dreaming, it's too soon* he thought frustrated.

"Max...Please...tell me!" she insisted.
"Ok, I know that you won't stop asking if I don't tell you. Ok, what am I doing here so far from Las Cruzes?....It's simple, I was dying to see you, I called my father and he helped me to get the ticket and here I am!" he said laughing softly.

"We talked together, why didn't you tell me that you were coming?" she asked
"I just wanted to surprise you. I thought that you were happy to see me in flesh....but maybe I was wrong...You're not so happy to see me, are you?" he asked sadly.

He had been so eager to come and see her that he didn't think that maybe she didn't feel the same way. Maybe she had met someone and it was too late for him. *Max!! stop you're going to drive yourself crazy if you go on like this!* he scolded himself.

Actually, Liz was more than happy to see him but she didn't want to give in so easily. She came here to forget about him and Tess and she had to know what was going on at Las Cruzes. "Max, I'm happy to see you, but I just want you to know that I didn't forget anything that happened before I left Roswell."

"Liz, I was wrong. I told you, I was a fool turned on by Tess. You are the love of my life Liz, I've already apologized but I don't mind doing it again. I know that I hurt you, deeply. We were best friends, you were the most important person in my life since we were yound and I kinda betrayed you. But Liz, all I want now is to be with you, you're the one Liz, the only one for me." he pleaded.

"You said it, I felt betrayed, hurt. You laughed at me with her, you said that I was jealous of your relationship...I really was Max, but the way you said it, believe me, I felt like if you tore my heart out. I can't tell you how much pain I felt." she replied with tears swimming in her eyes.

"Liz, I came here to see you cause I couldn't stay away from you so long, but I came also to make things work out between us. We need to talk and I hope that, when I'll go back to Las Cruzes on Sunday, everything will be fine between us. I know that we'll be separated for a long time, but I hope that I could come here and see you...Maybe you could come to Las Cruzes to see everyone too.... But the most important for the moment is US. We need to know each other, not as best friends but as lovers now."

"What do you mean as lovers? Do you think that I'm going to fall into your arms just because you travelled all over the country to come here, Mr Evans?" she asked raising her eyebrow.

"That would be my dream come true, but I don't want to dream for now. Liz, we grew up. We can be best friends, but I want you in my life and I want to be in yours...like forever!" he said shyly but fervently.

Liz looked at him..Her best friend, the love of her life too...Could she allow herself to forgive him and to take the next step with him. What would happen if she opened the door of her heart for Max, would he break it again? Would she be in pain again? Could she trust him? Her head was spinning with all those questions, but that was the challenge of her life.

"Max, I would like to trust you...I'm just scared to death to be hurt again. We're going to spend years apart, and we're young. Everything could happen, the best as well as the worst, I hope that it would be the best, but you have showed me that you were able to make me live the worst. Please, could we stay just friends?" she asked anxiously.

Max looked at her disappointed. He came here with his heart full of hope and love, and after the amazing moment he just spent with Liz in his arms, all that hope vanished. "Liz, we have all the weekend to talk, to see if we want to be together or apart, I hope together of course."

"Max, I know that you're disappointed, you don't need to deny it's written all over your face, but I ask you to understand my POV, and to respect it. I'm not Tess!"

"I know that and I'm happy that you're not her or like her. Liz, I made a mistake with you, a big mistake, but I hope that you realize that I really want things to work out between us, I came here for that purpose. Give us a chance. At least, you haven't the intention to throw me out of Harvard, have you?" he asked a little worried.

"Poor Max, of course I won't! Did you find a place to sleep during your stay?" she inquired.

She hadn't finished her sentence that the door slammed open and Shiri walked into the room

"Hey guys! Is everything all right? Liz I just came to take some stuff, I got an invitation for the weekend. One of my friends owns a yacht and he invited some of his old friends for a cruise. I would like to have you with me but since Max is here, I'm sure you would rather stay with your best friend, don't you?" she asked.

Liz looked at her roommate dumbfounded.* She's leaving THIS weekend for a cruise, why don't I believe a word of this story? Ok Shiri, let me see the truth!*
"Shiri, I would like to come with you. Are you sure your friend wouldn't accept if Max came with us? You know that if there is room for 2 there is room for 3. Please, I'm sure he would say yes." Liz whinned.

Actually, she didn't want to go but she had the feeling that Shiri set something up so Max and her could stay alone all weekend. She looked at Max, he was really upset and she understood why.

"Liz, I'm really sorry. I'm invited by a friend myself, I don't really know the owner. I mean I know his son, he's studying here in Harvard. I don't know if you both can come with us, I'm sorry." she said annoyed.

Liz grabbed her arm "Max, could you excuse us. I need to talk to this girl, I'll be back in a minut." she said dragging Shiri to the kitchen.

When they stepped in the kitchen, Liz closed the door and turned around toward Shiri "So you're leaving today for a cruise! huh?" she inquired

"Yeah! I've just told you!"

"But you didn't tell me about that cruise yesterday, not even this morning before I left. Weird, no?"

"NOO! He just asked me, I didn't know about it yesterday or this morning. I'm sorry Liz, you seem to doubt me but it's the truth."

"Actually, I think that it's a set up. You know that Max is here and all of sudden a friend of you asks you to go on a cruise. And you want me to believe you!!" Liz said irritated. "Tell me Shiri, do you think that I want to sleep with him? Do you think that I want you to leave us alone? If that was the case, I wouldn't be shy to ask you!"

Shiri looked at her friend, uncomfortable. She had set up that cruise, actually, when her friend told her that his father owned a yacht, she asked him to leave Harvard for the weekend. She was pondering her answer when they heard a knock at the door

Liz opened the door in front of it stood Max. "Liz, I don't want to make troubles between you and your friend. I'm leaving. I'll go and look for a room, I'm sure I'll find one. Don't worry." he said smirking. He had heard the conversation and found out that Liz was really upset because of her friend's plans.

Liz blushed, she felt bad now. Max was thinking that she didn't want him in her appartment. To tell the truth, she's scared to stay alone with him for the weekend, but for nothing in the world she would tell him.

Shiri looked at Max then at Liz, she knew that they need to be alone to talk openly, she wanted to help but it seemed that Liz found out the set up. OK! Liz didn't know her, when Shiri wanted something, she got it.

"Liz, I can't believe you don't trust me. If you want, come with me to talk to Jason and you'll see...."she said

"Jason? You're talking about the same Jason...." Liz asked blushing. She couldn't let Max know that she met another guy let alone ask to that guy to invite him. She was trapped.

Max didn't understand what was going on between the two girls and who was that Jason guy? Why did Liz blush when she talked about him? Once again, all his doubts came back *Maybe it's too late for us* he thought. "Jason?" he asked

Liz bent her head to hide her red cheeks and sighed. *That couldn't get any worse! Max arrived this morning without me knowing, Shiri planed to go for a cruise and leave us alone Max and me, and now, Max who asked who Jason was? If I tell him, he'll be upset, if I won't he'll believe that I hide something from him.*

"Yeah, he's a friend of Shiri. We met when I came here, he's a very nice guy. Do you want to know him?" she asked completely lost. Max's eyes turned black with hurt and anger and Liz realized the big mistake she made with him. "Max, I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. Shiri, go. I've no problem staying here with my best friend Max. After all, this won't be the first night we'll spend together in the same appartment"....

"Ok, fine. I'm going to pack some stuff" Shiri said and ran to her room to hide her grin. *I've told you! When Shiri wants something, she gets it!* she thought.

Max and Liz were face to face in the kitchen, staring at each other without saying a word.....Shiri stepped out of her room with a bag, she looked at them, surprised "Hey, you should move if you don't want to become wax statues." she said laughing.

As they didn't answer, she shrugged *After all, I did what I had to do, this is their business now!* she thought. "Ok, guys! have a good weekend! Don't talk too much!" she said mocking and she walked out of the appartment.

Max and Liz were in the kitchen, still staring at each other. Then, Max grabbed her, swooped down on her lips and kissed her fiercely. He pressed her body against his, letting her know the desire he was feeling for her. He couldn't stop devouring her, he couldn't stop caressing her gorgeous body, he was like a starved man in front of his first meal of the week.

Liz couldn't think either. She was in Max's arms, tight against his stone hard chest, his lips on hers, his tongue ravishing her mouth and he wanted her...

Chapter 24

"Maax..." she moaned, she didn't know if she wanted to stop him or if she wanted him to give her more. She was lost in his arms. She couldn't believe that he was there, that he traveled through the country to come to see her...he loved her....he wanted her....all those thoughts were running through her head and she felt dizzy.

"Liz....Baby, I want you...but I won't do anything that you don't want to do. I love you but I respect you too." Max panted when he pulled away from her. He looked into her eyes, trying to show her how much he desired her if she didn't already felt it against her stomach.

She came back to reality. "Max..We don't have to rush things. I mean, you're here for the whole weekend right? Why don't we just hang out, I could show you the campus or maybe there is something else that you want to see." she said worried that she could have hurt him.

"Don't worry Liz, I'm not angry...I mean, I want to be with you..I need you! but I can wait for you, you're worth it...So you're scared to stay alone with me....ok, where do you want to go?" he teased her and the look on her face was priceless.

She was so shocked that she couldn't find any words to respond. She couldn't believe he thought that she was scared to stay alone with him...."NO! I'm not scared!" she yelled at him. And she burst out laughing when she saw his shocked face. "What? Why are you looking at me like that? Max?"

"Silly! YOU scared ME! I was wondering what happened to you for yelling at me like that!" he said frowning.

"Hey! Don't you think that I could be the angry one here? Ok, you traveled all through the country to surprise me, but that doesdn't mean that I have to sleep with you right now! You know that I'm not Tess, Max, I'm not that kind of girl. If you needed to get laid, you knocked at the wrong door!" she said upset, "And for the record, I'm not scared to stay alone with you. If I don't want to sleep with you, you have no intentions to rape me, do you?" she inquired nervously.

Max looked at her, amazed. She couldn't be serious. "You couldn't be serious and think that I could rape you....You're joking here, aren't you?" he asked shocked.

They were sitting on the couch, face to face, none of them had the remotest idea when all the mess had began. They were kissing and enjoying themselves and all of sudden everything was turned upside down and now they are like to fighters spying the other's reaction.

Max reacted first. "Liz, I'm sorry..I didn't mean to hurt you. I was teasing you when I said that you were scared. Liz, we won't do anything that you don't want to do. I didn't came here to sleep with you. I didn't even know how you would welcome me. I mean we talked on the phone but you didn't know that I was coming....Please Liz, let's go back to where we were before. Forget everything that happened and let's go back to the begining.....When you saw me...oh, and you don't need to faint again!" he said smiling as he tried to enlighten the atmosphere.

Liz knew what Max was trying to do. "Ok, Max. Let's go back to the begining and I won't faint again, don't worry.....Max...I'm sorry too. I mean, we didn't really talk to each other since that day you told me those horrible...."

"Liiiiiiiiizzzz! I've already begged you to forgive me, I thought that we were passed that problem!" he said sadly. "I can't believe that you're not trying to forget it!"

"NO...You didn't let me finish my sentence. We didn't really talk to each other since that time and we took the wrong path. We were so happy before we made those mistakes. Max, before anything else, we need to talk to each other. We can't build our relationship if we don't talk first...Do you understand?" she asked uncertain.

He looked at her, she was so beautiful when she bit her lip like that, she didn't know how sexy she was when she did that. He gave her a devasting smile and took her hand in his "Liz, I love you...I always will. We have so much time to make that step...I mean to make love to each other. I've told you, I'll wait for you till you're ready. I think that we misunderstood each other earlier, and maybe you're right. We passed from 2 best friends who didn't talk to each other to 2 people who are in love. At least I did, after all you never said that you were in love with me....." he finished afraid to hear that she didn't feel the same.

Liz bent her face and her silky hair was like a black curtain hiding the blush on her cheeks. *Can I tell him what I feel for him? Would he take advantage of me? Would he betray me again with another girl if I told him?* she couldn't help but ponder.

Max put his finger under her chin and lifted her face. "Liz, you don't need to tell me if you don't feel the same way, I understand Baby and I can wait for you." he said trying to hide his disappointment.

"Max, I have strong feelings for you, and you can't honestly say that you don't feel it when I'm in your arms, BUT, I'm scared. Here, I'm scared of you. I don't want to live through the same thing again with what I lived through when you were with Tess...NO, NO.....I've no intention to harass you again with this, but try to understand me. If I had hurt you with being with another guy, could you trust me again a few months after that if I came to ask you to forgive me? Really Max, could you trust me if that was me?" she insisted.

"I love you so much Liz, that I think that I could forgive you twice rather than once. Believe me I'm not saying that to pressure you. I would have forgave you with all of my heart.. I love you and I can endure anything from you as long as I have you in my life..." he pleaded and Liz was surprised to see tears in his eyes.

"Max." she said, wiping the tear that rolled down on his cheek with her tiny hand. "Listen to me....I don't want to laugh at you, we have to talk again, you know that but I don't want you to feel bad...I'm going to tell you my secret." she whispered huskily in his ear. "I love you, Max..since a long, long time. That's why you hurt me so badly with Tess." she confessed hoarsly, blushing harder.

Max looked at her, shocked. She loved him for a very long time. *She was in love with me and yet, she kept playing the best friend?*

"NOO...." she said

"What? Did I say it out loud?" he asked uncomfortable.

"Max, please look at me........I don't know if I was in love with you from the begining, but I was since high school, I'm sure. I was your best friend, you never saw me as a grilfriend but more like a buddy like Michael or Alex...It was hard for me to confess my feelings for you. And when...." she stopped talking unable to go further.

Max cupped her cheeks with his hands. "It's over now, Honey. I love you more than life itself, Liz and I swear to you that I'll never hurt you anymore." he declared and kissed her reverently.

Liz parted her lips and gave him better access to her delicious mouth and Max dipped his tongue inside hungrily. He couldn't get enough of her and once again he was lost. He was bitting her lower lip with his teeth, tangling his tongue with hers, ravishing her mouth fiercely. He was under her spell and all he could think about was Liz...his Liz...and the desire he was feeling for her came back...

"Liz....Baby...I want you so much! I love you so much!....." he kept saying without stopping the kisses. His hands were not idle too. His right hand was under her shirt on her back as the other was on the bare skin of her waist. He couldn't believe that he could touch her like this, even in his craziest dreams, he wouldn't dream that his hands were touching her soft skin. "Liz.....tell me to stop Baby!!" he begged without stopping to kiss her.

"Don't stop Max..." she said huskily surprised by her own reaction. She wanted him as much as he wanted her and she thought that they had been apart long enough to enjoy their love now. They deserved to be happy and it seemed that they couldn't be whole without the other.

Max travelled through the whole country to come to see her, he didn't stop swearing his undying love for her and she was in love with him for long too. Enough is enough. It was time to follow her heart instead of always following her head. It was time that she to belonged to the love of her life...Max.

Chapter 25

When he heard her say those words, Max froze, scared. Even if he wanted her badly, hearing that she wanted to be his scared him. "You...you're...re sure? I mean...we don't have to do anything that you're not ready for." he said.

Liz looked at him. *He must be kidding!* "Are you serious? I mean, you want us to wait....I mean do you really want us to wait?" she asked surprised.

"Let's go out. I want to see Harvard. I want to get out of this appartment. Do you want to do this for me Liz? Do you want to help me to keep you safe?" he begged.

"Maaxx! Why wouldn't I be safe if we stayed here? Max, look at me. I love you and you love me, am I right sofar?" she asked.

He nodded. "Max, I'm safe with you. I understand that you might be scared to make love....after all this would be our first time for the both of us. I'm not scared to make love with you, Max. I've decided that enough is enough and it is time for us to take it to the next level.......yes that's what I've been thinking..... But, I can't do it without you...and I won't pressure you to do what you are not ready for." she said brushing his cheeks with her thumbs.

"Liz, you can't imagine how much I want to make love to you, but you're right, I'm scared. Not because I doubt our feelings for each other, no. I'm scared that you feel like you're compelled to do it, to please me, scared that you could be disappointed by your first time. Maybe that it shouldn't be with m..." he couldn't go on, Liz had put her finger on his lips.

"Max...you say that you want me. I mean, you want to make love to me.....OK.....Now, I say that I want my first time to be with you. I've always dreamt of you to be my first lover. And we're here, you and me, alone, with no one who can disturb us...we have all night long to get to know each other better. If we want to make love, or if we decide not to it's not a problem. Relax Max, if it happens we let it happen. Don't be scared. Just enjoy the moment. Anyway, I want to do it." she said softly.

"Do what?" he asked growing hard.

"Enjoy the moment....with you beside me. I don't want to wonder, I don't want to torture my mind with that question of yes or no. Let's just enjoy ourselves together for once since months. Do you want to do it with me?"

Once again, Liz was not aware of the double meaning of her question. Once again Max did hear the double meaning and grew harder. She was going to drive him crazy with her questions. He was dying to make love to her, but he wanted her to choose the perfect moment.

He tried to do what she did. "Ok, Liz let's enjoy the moment. Tell me what you have in mind and I'll follow you." he said kindly.

"Ok, what if we go back to where we were before this conversation begun?" she asked with a mischevious look.

Max swallowed hard and felt his pants get tighter. "What do you mean? Where do you want us to go?" he asked not wanting to think with his lower body.

"Maaxx! We don't need to go anywhere. We are at the right place for what I have in mind." she said mysteriously.

This girl would be the death of him. "What you have in mind!....Liz, act like I'm dumb and enlighten me please. I don't want to misundertand you."

"Max you did understood what I meant, I'm sure of it, and you're far from dumb and I've decided to stop this game." she stated.

"Stop this game? Liz, Honey, I'm completely lost here cause I didn't even know that we were playing a game! Please stop being so mysterious....." he pleaded.

"I said that I've decided to stop playing this game, not that we were playing a game. Max, hold me tight." she said and looked straight into his eyes. She saw his eyes darkening, he began to understand where she wanted to go with him.

"Liz, I'm begging you....Stop it, it's not safe. I mean I don't know if I'll be able to handle this."

"What if I want you to lose control with me?" she asked innocently.

"Lose control? Liz, I think that I'll better go before things go too far." he said, but Liz didn't agree. She had Max Evans all to herself today and she wanted to have her way with him, if he wanted to of course.

She pressed her body against his, rubbing her heat against his erection. "Liiiiiiiizzzzzz! STOP!! What are you trying to do to me?" he groaned.

"I don't want to stop...Max Evans, I have been waiting for you for years and now that you're in my hands, I'm going to have my way with you. Max do you want me to start begging for you to make love to me?" she asked huskily. "Don't you want me anymore?" she asked again making Max suffer in agony.

"Liz...you know that I want you....more than anyone or anything else in the world....or even in the universe. Please Baby, don't play with me. I've told you, I won't be able to handle this."

Liz had decided that she wanted to make love with Max while he was at Harvard. She knew that it would be their last chance to be alone and to give everything to each other. She decided that with him here in her appartment, this was the best time for them to take the next step. She wouldn't let him flee because she was certain that his dearest wish was to be with her forever.

"I'm not playing anymore Max, I just want you to make love to me. I want you Max, you said that you wanted me too, so what? What's your problem?" she asked.

"It's just that you seem to take this as a game...it's just that you seem to take this like you are making a....business deal!" he blurted out.

"BUSINESS DEAL??? What do you mean? Are you saying that I'm acting like a slut? Is that what you're saying Max? Am I a slut to you?" she asked infuriated.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say like that, of course you're not....but Liz, did you even listen to yourself how you were talking to me? You said it like you are used to sleep with men...I don't know how to explain it, Liz, it's just that I felt weird." he tried to explain to her.

"So if a girl says that she wants a boy, she's a slut! isn't she? But then when a boy harasses a girl with the same desire, that's better. That's logic, that's the rule....is that what you think Max? Did I shock you?" she kept asking.

Actually, Liz was deeply hurt. She had decided that they were mature enough to take the next step but she was wrong. Max was not ready. He came here and acted like the lover, but when she took control, he fled, even if it was not physically. And the most important thing was that he thought she was a sort of slut, a nympho who absolutely wanted to sleep with him to sooth her hunger for men.

She walked out of the room and turned around towards him. "I can't throw you out of the appartment Max, so you can stay here for the weekend. But believe me, you'll have to beg and grovel a lot before I even come back to you." and she stepped out of the appartment, leaving Max cursing himself for his madness, and feeling completely desperate.

Hey everyone, I'm back with a new chapter. Thanks Bixie, she corrected it rapidly....I hope you'll like it.

let's see Max is still at Harvard, but Liz left the appartment, upset. She had an argument with him, and she let him alone in her appartment.

Will Max be able to make Liz forgive him again? Will Liz be able to see that she misunderstood him? you'll see in that chapter.

Chapter 26

Now Max was alone in the appartment pacing the room. He thought about what happened with Liz. How the situation just got out of control.

Of course he never thought about her as a slut, he travelled the country to surprise her, they were the happiest couple in the world when he arrived and now...she was gone, G-d knows where...

She said that he had to beg and grovel a lot before she would come back to him.... He knew that he acted like an asshole with her and he was ready to wordship the floor she walked on if she could forgive him for his madness...
But where did she go? Where would he look for her? He did not live here and he didn't know the place, where could she have gone.....unless....the library?

*Shiri said that Liz was used to go there to study...Maybe she went there to calm down..* he thought and he walked out of the appartment. When he stepped out of the building, he met some students and he asked them for the library.

They told him and he headed towards the building. On his way, he looked around. There was a park further on his left and he saw students wandering there. *Maybe she came here...I won't lose anything if I go there first before...* he pondered.

He walked towards the park, praying that he would find her here. When he arrived he was surprised to see that the park was really big, bigger than he had thought.

*Where do I start to look? She could be behind the trees over there....or on a bench behind that wall....I can't yell her name, people will think that I'm crazy, maybe they'll call the guards, after all except Liz, I don't know anyone here and I'm a perfect stranger!* he thought as he continued to walk.

Then he heard someone laughing *LIZ!* he could recognize her laugh out of thousands. He ran towards the group of trees but stopped dead in his tracks. Liz was there, seated on a bench, but she was not alone, a tall and darkhaired man was with her, whispering words in her ear...Max felt a big knot in his stomach and one tear flew down his cheek "Liz...." he whispered.

Startling, Liz turned around towards him "Max! What are you doing here?" she asked when she recovered her composure. "Do you know him?" the tall guy inquired. "He doesn't seem to study here.."

"No, you're right Jason. He's a friend of mine who came from Las Cruzes to see me." she explained with a neutral tone as her eyes were locked with Max's.
She saw the tear on his cheek but that was not enough, he hurt her too much.*Geez! he almost said that I was a slut! Funny, he found me here with Jason, he wouldn't believe that we were just talking and joking.* she thought sadly.

"Max?..." she insisted.

"May I talk to you Liz? Alone..." Max asked softly.

Liz looked at him....then at Jason. *Humm... if someone would come now they could say that Jason and Max were brothers. I didn't thought about how much they look alike until now when I see them together.* "Jason...I thought that Max was resting and I came here to let him sleep...If you don't mind, I'm going with him. I'll see you later if you want."

Jason looked at Max then at Liz..."Ok, Baby...Call me later!" he said teasing her a little and to add some turmoil for Max, he bent and kissed her on the cheek. "Bye!"

When he left, they kept silent. No one wanted to talk first. Max was hurt and desperate, he knew that Liz was gorgeous enough to have a lot of men around her, but that guy called her "Baby" and he kissed her...on the cheeks maybe...but he did it.

On the other hand, Liz was waiting for Max to talk. He had hurt her earlier, he had to beg and grovel, like she said in the appartment, before she could talk to him again. She folded her arms and waited.

"Is he your boyfriend?" Max murmured.

Liz didn't answer, she just shrugged her shoulder and rolled her eyes. "What? Is he your boyfriend or not? That's not complicated to answer, yes or no!" Max said talking louder.

She stood and faced him "Look Max...if that's all what you have to say, it doesn't interests me. Is Jason my boyfriend or not? I won't tell you cause it's none of your business. If you have something else to tell me.....If you came to beg me to forgive you for your hateful behavior....I'm staying, if not? I have friends waiting for me, and I'm sure that they'll be glad to hang out with me." she said sternly. "So?...." she inquiered raising her eyebrow.

Max looked at her, then stroked his hair with a shaky hand. *What happened that has turned the situation upside down since I arrived? I came here, full of hope and head over heels in love with Liz and now she is looking at me with a cold look.*

"Liz....I'm sorry...I don't know what happened that everything became a mess between us...I didn't want to hurt you. You know that I love you more than life itself and I want to be with you. You didn't deserve the words I said...I didn't mean a word of what I said earlier and you know that I would never treat you as a slut or anything else. I love you Liz with all my heart and soul. Please forgive me....Tell me what I have to do for you to forgive me and I'll do it. I don't know what else to say....Liz?" he whispered her name at the end of his speech.

He had put out his heart here and he didn't know what he would do if she kept refusing to forgive him. He had hurt her, that's for sure, but he was groveling and begging her..He couldn't litteraly crawl on the ground for her to talk to him.

"Liz....You know if you are waiting for me to crawl on the ground and kiss your feet, I won't do it. I know that I was wrong, that I hurt you...but it seems to me that you should consider that I travelled a long way to come here and to make things work between us...Isn't it enough for you? Tell me what do you want instead of looking at me as if I'm your ennemy!"

They were face to face in the park, Max couldn't move. He couldn't believe that all his hope was now going up in smoke....Liz, on the other hand, contemplated what Max had said in her appartment and what he just said here. He begged her...he grovelled....She couldn't decently ask for more, even if she had been hurt, he asked her to forgive him for his words.

She bit her lower lip...looking at him....He repeated again. "Liz!!....Come on Baby! Isn't it over now? You're still keeping a grudge! Please forgive me....Liz I wanted you and I still do....But in your appartment, it seemed to me that we went too fast...that we had to date first before we could do anything together...That's why I was so reticent to make love to you, and to tell the truth, you surprised me....I mean I thought that you'd be the one who would want to take things slow, and you were so eager to sleep with me....I didn't understand....and I said those crazy things.....I'd like to take them back if I could, but it's impossible....Liz....Please....Come back..." he begged again on the verge of the tears.

Liz stretched out her hand and slowly brushed his cheek. "Max...you're right. We have to take things slow...I'm sure that I'm not that ready to sleep with you...What do you think we should do first?" she asked softly.

"What do you think if I would take you out tonight. We could go to a restaurant....do whatever you want....if you agree with me, I'd like to go out with you first...." he asked shyly.

"Ok...That's fine...Restaurant tonight. I'm sure Jason will recommend us a good one..." she said but stopped when she looked at Max...He was pale. "Max?" she inquired with concern.

"Jason?...You're going to ask to Jason for a restaurant? Why? Did you already go out with him? Was he your boyfriend? or maybe he still is..." he stammered.

"Max! Jason is a good friend of mine. We've never dated...I'm not gonna say that he didn't try, but I have someone else in mind...." she said winking.

"Me?..." he asked dumbfounded. Then he pulled her in his arms and lifted her in the air and twirrled around, he was laughing with happiness. "I love you....I love you Liz!!!" then he held her tight and kissed her delicious lips fiercely.

Later, they were in the appartment. Jason agreed to recommend her a good and classy restaurant. Max wanted to take Liz out for the first time to a place she never went before. Now Liz was in the bathroom to shower as Max was waiting for her, watching tv.

When she finished her shower, Liz stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around her slender body, and forgot that her bedroom door was open, as she realized it she saw Max drooling over her body, stunned. "Liz......"
