"Damn straight," I him mutter. Ok what's up his arse?

"And, I'll have water," he says as he comes towards me and takes the glass out of my hand. As our hands touched all I wanted was to kiss him....

"Don't worry, I'll get it."
But he wants Lily. He wants my sister. I will always be second best.

"You ready to go, or did you want to stick around for a little while longer?"

I glance at himin surprise and then look away because he doesn't want me looking at him...he wants Lily.

"Yeah...let me just get a glass" I say. I take one more glass out and drink a few sips of water before puttin it down.

"Yeah sure. See you Lily" I say.
Then under my breath I add "Adams"

I walk out of the kitchen and head outside without a second glance. I want this evening over.

MARIE

Charlie Brown once said ‘Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love’ and for a cartoon character, he was pretty much right. Unrequited love sucks, it hurts and it destroys. And yes, I’m an expert on this. Just because I spend a lot of time reading doesn’t mean that I haven’t experienced some of life’s crueler lessons.

I know what unrequited love feels like. I’ve had this thing for Erik Whitman since forever but there are so many problems blocking the way. The main ones being that he is Lily’s cousin, probably interested in Christina and way out of my league.

"Yeah sure. See you Lily" Amy says before muttering under her breath. “Adams.”

I choke on my soda, coughing and sputtering as Lily stares at me with a raised eyebrow. I don’t think Amy meant for anyone to hear that last word but I can‘t help but feel glad that I managed to catch it. It explains so much although I think she might be blinded by, and I hesitate to say this, jealous of Lily. I don’t think that Amy realizes how much Oliver does like her and if she doesn’t get over herself then she might end up losing him for good.

“Leave the front door open so that James and Tyler can let themselves in.” Lil shouts at Amy before asking. “What’s up with you, geek?”

“Oh nothing.” I say before dropping the bombshell. “I think that Amy thinks that you like Oliver or that Oliver likes you.”

Lily looks bemused, “Of course I like Oliver. He is…”

“No,” I say, cutting off Lily’s sentence. “She thinks that you love him like him or that he has feelings for you.”

“That is so gross. Oliver is my friend. I could never…eww. I don’t want to even word it.” She wrinkles her nose in disgust before adding, “And I already told her that I like…”

“Who?” I ask, when Lily fails to complete her sentence. She meets my eyes briefly before looking away guilty. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Lily back away from anything in my life. I’m almost speechless. Almost, not quite. “Who do you like?”

“Nobody.” Lily mumbles and heads into the family room.

I follow hot on her heels, “Seriously, who do you like?”

She switches on the stereo and Tegan And Sara blasts from the speakers.

“Lily Evans, who do you like?” I shout over the music, sounding so very juvenile that I flush with embarrassment. “Is it someone is our group?”

She shakes her head and I know that she is lying.

“Is it Tyler?”

She throws me a look of disgust much the same as the one she had given me when I mentioned Oliver is a non friend context.

“Is it Brad?”

This time she throws a pillow at my head. I’ll take that has a no. So that’s the Guerin brothers off the list, which leaves only Oliver and James and since she already shown disgust over Oliver that leaves James. This time its my turn to wrinkle my nose in disgust.

“Is it James?”

“I can‘t hear you, Marie.”

Not only did she actually reply to me that time but she used my name, which means one thing. Lily likes James.

‘No you won’t, Erik. Just relax. Stop worrying, you are doing just fine. If embarrassing me ends up helping, then do whatever you need to, bro.’ she assures me.

‘Thanks Bre.’ I convey as Christina turns and speaks to me.

"So, are you excited about tonight?"

Excited? I think. I’d love to jump around and scream with glee that Christina Guerin is sitting next to me and speaking to me. But that would be childish and…strange. So I do the next best thing.

“Yeah, actually I am. I can’t wait to hear Sabrina’s band. They’ve been practicing so much for this night. You’d think a big music producer was going to be there.” I chuckle and glance over at the passenger. I have found it hard to keep my eyes on the road and not on beautiful Christina.

Taking the leap I continue. “I’m glad you’ve come too Christina. I know it will make the night much…brighter for me.”

I feel my cheeks start to flame and I refuse to look at her, keeping my strict attention to the dirt road we just turned down.

“How about you? Are you excited?” I ask hoping I don’t sound like a nerd.

Amy walked out of the room, but I held back for a moment. "She's pissed," I muttered to Lily and Maria, sending them a brooding look before following Amy out to the living room. We walked to the door; I opened it for her and then followed her out. I opened the car door for her as well, trying my best to be charming. Once we were set, I got behind the wheel and put the car in drive.

"So, this should be fun, huh?" I asked, trying to make conversation as we pulled out of the Evans' neighborhood. "Got anyone special you're going to meet?" I asked casually, remember my worries from earlier at school.

Oliver follows me to the door and quickly opens it for me. Although it was sweet of him, I can't help but think that he wishes I was Lily.
When we get to the car he does the same thing again. Very gentlemanly...except Im not his lady. Lily is.

Once he has got in he starts to talk.
"So, this should be fun, huh?"
"Yeah" I answer looking straight ahead of me thinking No!
"Got anyone special you're going to meet?"
I turn to look outside the window. It had only been him I was looking forward to seeing. But he was hoping to see the other Evans.
"No" I tell him. "I expect you have though".
I then add "like Lily" under my breath.

"Nom I expect you have though," she replied curtly, and I frowned in frustration. When I heard her whisper something about her sister, I snapped, pulling the car off to the side of the road. I sat there for a long moment, Amy staring questioningly, and slightly angrily, in my direction, until I decided to take a chance.

I moved quickly, leaning over and giving her a kiss on the lips. She seemed to shocked to react, and after a few moments I pulled away.

"I wanted to see you. Now would you stop thinking about Lily so much? You're thinking about your sister much more than I am."

Suddenly he pulls the car over and it screeches to a halt. I look over at him in shock and anger. What the hell does he think hes doing? What's going on? I decide I should tell him exactly what Im thinking when he leans over.

And suddenly his lips are on mine. Im so stunned that I don't move...I don't even know if Im breathing.

And then hes pulling away from me. Im so utterly confused.

"I wanted to see you. Now would you stop thinking about Lily so much? You're thinking about your sister much more than I am."

I look at him. Im an idiot. A right and utter idiot. He doesn't like Lily....and he wanted to see me....

In twenty minutes Ive gone from the most nervous in my life, to the most saddest of my life, to the most happiest.

A smile forms on my lips. "I wanted to see you too" I say quietly, before I lean forward and kiss him back, surprising myself with my boldness.

ooc: sorry so short..... whenever people are ready to get characters to the party, let me know and then once they are all there, I'll set up the start of the actual party (almost got an entire post set for it already)

Pulling out of the drive, I hear Ty respond, "Yeah," he started and when I turned to look at him I could tell he wasn’t quite certain what to expect from me. "You okay?"

At his question, I simply laugh for a moment before nodding, “I’m perfectly fine, Ty. My father and I had a very brief talk. He wants me to call him if anything happens tonight and to watch out for Marie.” I simply laugh again as I pull up in front of Lily’s house. “I’ll be right back.”

I climb out of the car and walk up to the door, knocking rather then ringing the bell and simply stand there with my hands behind my back and a smile on my face. Tonight, Lily was going to see a different side to me. I was going to show her exactly what I was like and I was going to make my move.

LILY

There’s a knock at the door and I resist the urge to burst into Amy like excitement. Glancing out of the window, I notice James’s car parked out front with Tyler still in it. My heart quickens with thoughts of James. I’m so excited that I can barely control myself. I’m seriously considering running to that and flinging it open.

“That was the door.” Marie states, her eyes are filled with a wicked delight that I never thought possible of Marie.

“I know.” I reply sounding as cool as a cucumber.

“Its James.”

“I know that too.” I state. My stomach gives a little flip flop at his name. Must remain cool. Must not pull an Amy and get over excited.

“Are you going to answer it or what?” Marie grins smugly. I don’t think she believed me when I told her that I wasn’t interest in James. Crap. I hope that she doesn’t plan on saying something before I’ve had my chance to make my move.

“Duh.” I state and head towards the front door, slipping into my party girl persona and smiling a million dollar smile. Tonight is going to be a blast, this party is going to be awesome, I remind myself.

Marie follows close behind, humming happily as I open the front door to reveal the gorgeous James. Dressed in a pair of jeans and a muscle shirt, James looks about forty different types of fine. I’m gonna have to start some drama if any other girls try and claim him tonight. He is going to be mine and only mine.

“Hey brother dearest,” Marie greets, still wearing her smug grin.

“Hey James, you look hot tonight.” I state, playfully smiling at him. “You trying to steal some poor girl’s defenseless heart?”

When Lily opens the door, I have all I can do not to let my jaw drop. She’s simply … I don’t even have a word to describe how beautiful she is.

“Hey brother dearest,” I hear Marie say, but at the moment my attention is garnered with looking at Lily in the denim and satin.

“Hey James, you look hot tonight.” Lily says and I am glad I’m good at keeping reactions shuddered, as I see her smiling playfully. “You trying to steal some poor girl’s defenseless heart?”

At her question, I smirk. “Maybe. Just maybe.” I comment as I hold out my hand toward her, “You look absolutely on fire, Lil.” I tell her with a smile, before looking behind her at my sister. “Marie?” I can’t believe my eyes. That is not my sister, it can’t be my sister. “Wow, you look like a whole new woman, sis. Maybe our father had a reason to ask me to look out for you tonight.” I grin and then look toward the car before looking back at them, “Well, you girls ready? I can tell you that Ty and I are definitely looking forward to this night. And, Lil, we’ll be talking later, once we have a moment at the party.”

I grinned and waited to see if she’d take my hand, knowing that she was going to hate waiting for me to say what I got to say. It simply added to the pleasure I was going to have tonight when I finally just went for it. Of course, I was tempted to simply kiss her right here and now, but now wasn’t the time. I had other ideas. “You are riding with us, right Marie?”
