CHAPTER 31




MAX P.O.V

We are in my SUV driving to Liz’s house.

After last night I feel like I have lifted a huge wait off of my shoulders.

It’s like now I know that Liz is mine and that she loves me.

I knew it before… don’t get me wrong, but its different now.

Michael was right when he said sex was great, but what I did last night with Liz
It wasn’t sex it was making love.

Because that’s what we are… in love.

We pull up to the Crashdown and we get out of the car.

“So who has been opening this place since you haven’t been here?” I ask curiously.

“Jose, she’s been working here ever since I was 10 she’s 6 years older than me, like an older sister” she says and I see the smile in her eyes.

I look behind us as she opens the door and I squint to see better.

There’s a guy hiding behind the building across the rod and he has a camera in hand, taking pictures of me and Liz.

“Are you coming” I hear Liz ask and I turn and walk inside.

What am I going to do? Let’s just say this is not the first time that people with cameras take pictures.

But normally that means that their paparazzi, coming to check up on the famous lawyer which would be me.

Last time I saw one of them, the next day I was front page of every magazine apparently I was ‘dating an actress’.

All I can do is pray that, that doesn’t happen this time.

I still can’t believe that Liz doesn’t recognise me from magazines.

“Hey Missy” I hear Liz say as Missy runs up to us and starts licking liz.

‘She is too cute’ I think.

“Thanks” I hear Liz say and realise I was talking aloud.

“Looks like I’m not the only one that speaks their mind” I hear Liz say as she walks over to me with Missy in on hand and a Bag of clothes in the other.

“But I like it” she says while kissing me.

“Here, let me take the litter guy, or should I say girl” I say while taking Missy into my arms.

“Max your going to hurt his feeling” she says in the most adorable voice.

“Sorry little man” I say as I hold Missy up to my face.

His pretty cute for a dog.

“See he already likes you” I hear Liz say as Missy starts licking my face.

“I like him too” I say to her and she smiles.

“And I like you” she says and I smile back at her as we kiss.

LIZ P.O.V

As we make our way out I see Jose and wave.

“Hey stranger” she says as she hugs me hello.

“Hey” I say as I hug her back.

“Jose this is my boyfriend Max, Max this is Jose” I say introducing them.

“It’s nice to meet you” Max says and I see Jose’s shocked expression.

“Well, it’s great to know that Liz has a boyfriend” I hear Jose say and I duck m head shyly.

I look up to see Max looking at me weird.

“You know I think you’re her first boyfriend” she says and I have to break in before this goes too far.

“Ok well, we have to go but if you need any help...” I start to say but Jose interferes.

“No girl, you go and have some fun” she says and I smile.

“Bye it was nice meeting you” Max says politely and we leave.

“So I’m your first boyfriend?” I hear Max ask once we are out side.

“Well yeah” I say shyly and I see him walk up to me and kiss me breathlessly.

“Good” he says and I smile.

“You are such a guy” I smile as we get in the car.

Once I have my buckle on I look up and I see some guy across the street taking pictures of us.

‘I wonder what that’s about?’

MAX P.O.V

We get inside and Liz places Missy on the floor.

It’s hilarious.

The poor dog is still a baby and it isn’t used to tiles.

As soon as Missy starts to run he slides and bangs into the wall.

“Missy are you ok?” I hear Liz say.

Just seeing how she is with Missy I already can tell that Liz is going to be a great mother.

“Rough Rough” Missy starts braking at the wall.

“Hilarious” I say as I place my coat on the coat hanger and take a seat on the couch.

“Are you ok?” I hear Liz ask me as she comes and sits in my lap.

Wrapping her legs around my waist and facing me.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be” I ask her with a smile.

“You look … I don’t know” she says and I see her thinking.

I look down and start thinking again.

I need to tell Liz the truth, if I don’t know then maybe things will get worse.

“Max did I do something?” I hear Liz’s worried voice cut through my thoughts.

“No, why would you think that?”

“Your not talking and your all distant”

“No Liz …” I start to say but she interrupts.

“Should I leave?” she asks as she starts to get up.

“Liz no” I say as I grab her hand and pull her to my chest.

“I’m sorry I’m distant, it’s just that I have a lot on my mind, I’m sorry baby” I say and she hugs me tight.

“Well, you can always tell me what’s wrong, I’m here for you” she says as she leans up and places a kiss on my forehead.

“Ok baby” I say.

I want to tell her but I’m worried that if I do then I might loose her and I don’t think I could live with myself if I did.

LIZ P.O.V

It’s 5.30 and we are getting ready to go to a party that Maria just invited us to.

You see she just called saying to meet her and Michael there later tonight and I asked Max and he agreed that it sounded like fun.

But let’s just say I did have to convince him a little.

He said that he didn’t want to go because of all the guys looking at me, which I thought was very sweet.

He also said that the bruise on my arm was enough to convince him not to go.

But I worked my magic and he finally agreed.

I hear Max hear me if I’m ready and I say I am.

We make sure to say bye to Missy and leave water and food.

“This should be fun” I hear Max say and nod it should.

The drive to the party is silent, but not a bad silent and comfortable silent.

We pull up to the house that the party is being held at, and get inside pretty fast.

I hear the music blasting from the speaker and pull Max onto the dance floor.

MAX P.O.V

“Maxwell” I hear Michael scream as he and Maria make their way over to me and Liz.

“Hey chika” I hear Maria say.

“Hey” Liz says back and I see something’s wrong straight away.

“Enjoy the party” they say as they go off in the other direction.

“Sweetie what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, I just want to go home” she says as she lays her head on my shoulder.

“You sure” I ask not sure if she’s serious.

“Yeah I just want it to be us” she says and I see a small smile spread across her face.

“Ok sweetheart” I say as I start to walk to the exit.

Once we are outside I look at my watch and realise that we were only at the party for about half an hour.

We get into the car and drive home.

I look over at Liz to see her looking out off the window in deep thought.

Once we are home I help her out of the house and we walk in side hand-in-hand.

“Are you sure you’re ok?”

“I’m sure” she says as she makes her way over to me.

“I just wanted to leave, you were right we shouldn’t have gone, I made you do something you didn’t want to and I’m sorry” she says and It finally comes down on me.

“You wanted to leave the party because you thought I didn’t want to be there?” I ask and I see her nod.

“Sweetie, I didn’t care as long as you were with me” I add and I see her smile.

DING DONG

I hear the door bell and wonder who it could be.

“Sweetie are we ok now?” I ask her while getting up.

“Yeah, totally” I hear her say with a smile.

I walk over to the door still trying to figure out who would be coming over.

It’s only 10 past 6 but I wasn’t expecting anyone.

I grab the door knob and open the door.

I see their face and I’m shocked...

What am I going to do?

CHAPTER 36




LIZ P.O.V

“What are you doing here?” I hear Max ask and I begin to get worried.

I wonder who it could be, he doesn’t sound to glad to see them.

“I’m your sister I’m coming to see how you are, you idiot” I hear the person say back.

I guess I’m going to get to meet his sister Isabel after all.

Yay … at least it’s not his dad …

“What is your girlfriend over?” I hear Isabel ask in a fun tone.

I guess she doesn’t think I really exist.

When I talked to her on the phone … I think Max and I were still only dating.

But now we are together as girlfriend and boyfriend and we are in love … and we’ve made love…

“Yes Isabel she is” he says and I hear Isabel’s shocked sigh.

I walk over to the door and see Max’s twin sister.

“You must be Isabel” I say as I stand next to Max.

I can kind of see a resemblance … kind of.

She has long blond hair and it’s absolutely beautiful, she has chestnut coloured eyes and is farley tall.

“Yes I am, and you must be Liz, we talked on the phone not too long ago” she says as she stretches her hand for me to shake.

“Yes I am” I say and I look up to Max to see him smiling down at me.

“So, how long have you guys been together?” Isabel asks once we are seated in the lounge room with coffee in hand.

“A couple of weeks” Max says as he grabs my small hands in his larger one.

“That’s great” she says and I can see from the smile on her face that she is happy for her brother.

“So umm, I actually came over cause I had some news” she says and I see her gat a bit nervous.

“What’s up?” Max asks and I know that he knows that’s she nervous.

Does that make sense?

“Anyway I look at Isabel and see her fidgeting.

“Well umm, I’m engaged” she says and I see Max’s face fall to the floor.

“What?” he asks.

“I mean to whom?”

“You know Alex Whitman, he works with you?” she asks and I see Max nod.

“How long have you guys been dating?” he asks and I love his protective brother side.

“A year” she replies.

“Wow, I don’t believe you didn’t tell me” he says and I look at Isabel and see her sad expression.

“I think its great congratulations” I say as I go over and hug her.

I see Max look at me and I crook an eye, giving him the evil eye.

“Congratulations sis, I’m happy for you” he says as he too gets up and hugs his sister giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“I’m so glad your ok with it, I already told mum and dad and mum took it fine but dad refused to come to the wedding, he said that he doesn’t like Alex and he fired him” she says with tears in her eyes.

I’m shocked by the news, when Max said his father was a jerk I thought it was a joke.

But hearing what Isabel just said, his a total bastard.

“He can’t do that” Max says and I can see the anger in his eyes.

“Well, he did” Isabel says.

“Look the weddings in 2 weeks and It would be great to see both of you there” Isabel says while looking at me.

“Well, I plan to be there” I say as I hug her goodbye.

“It was great meeting you Liz” she says as we all walk to the door.

“It was great meeting you too” I say.

“Well, have fun and don’t worry I’ll talk to dad tomorrow” I hear Max say as he hugs her goodbye.

“Bye” she says as she gets into her car and drives off.

“It looks like I have to go to the office for a quick moment tomorrow, will you be ok?” Max asks me and I nod.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine, I’ll go to the shops and get us some food” I say as I point to the empty cupboards.

“Ok baby” he says and I see him look at me with a certain twinkle in his eyes.

“What?” I ask him as I walk over and place my hand on his shoulder.

“Nothing I was just admiring your beauty” he says and I lean up and kiss him.

“I love you” I say as we pull away.

I don’t think I’ll ever grow tried of saying those three little words.

“How bout we go upstairs and I show you how much I love you?” he asks and I just giggle at how forward he is being …

I love it.

“Sound like a good idea” I say and the next thing I know his carrying me up the stairs.

“Aaaahhh Max” I giggle.

Looks like I’m going to have a good night.

MAX P.O.V

It’s 9.30 and I just woke up, but man am I happy.

It’s not everyday you wake up to your beautiful girlfriend placing kisses on your chest…

And if it is then man what have I been missing.

“Hey angel” I say in a sleepy voice.

“Hey handsom” she says and I see he smile at me.

“It’s late, I need to get to office” I say as I try to get up but Liz stops me.

“You don’t need to go right now do you?” she asks with a cute pout.

“Well, the quicker I go the quicker I’ll come back and get to spend the night with you” I say and she rushes out of bed.

I think I just died and have gone to heaven.

Does she not realise what she’s doing to me.

She totally naked and she’s running around the room, getting my clothes.

She is absolutely beautiful.

“Well, what are you waiting for?” she asks and I grin.

“Hurry up, you don’t want to get home late do you?” she adds and I just smile.

I get up and grab the clothes she chose for me.

I run into the bathroom and turn on the shower.

Well, I think I have time for a quick shower with Liz … I mean I’ll make time.

I walk back into the room to find Liz facing the wall, she doesn’t know I’m there and I grab her from behind and pull her over my shoulder.

“Maxxxxxxxxxx” she screams with laughter.

I carry her into the shower ….

I rush down stairs and see Liz on the couch in my bath robe.

“You look so beautiful, sweetie” I say as I run over to her and give her a kiss on the cheek.

“I’ll see you in a little while ok?” I ask as I pull away.

“Yeah, I’m just going to the shops, I’ll be back soon” she says and I kiss her one last time before leaving.

MAX P.O.V

I rush into the building and up to my father’s office.

“Ummm Mr Evans is busy” I hear his sectary say as I barge though the door.

“I’m sure his got time for his son” I say as I go in anyway.

“Well Maxwell it’s about time you came to work” my father says with a grin on his face as I walk up to his desk.

“Isabel came over, I know about the wedding and I know that you fired Alex” I say wanting to get straight to the point.

“Well, I had to do what I had to do Maxwell, I thought you would of understood” he says and I can’t believe him.

“Dad Isabel loves Alex, can’t you see, and Alex doesn’t work for you he works for me, so as long as I still own part of this place Alex has his job” I say as I stand to leave.

“Well Maxwell I don’t know who she is but she’s totally done some work on you” he says and I look at him.

‘Please tell me his not talking about Liz’ I think to myself.

“That’s right Maxwell I know about your little slut, Tess told me everything” he says and I grab him by his collar.

“Don’t you dare call her a slut again” I threaten him.

I let go and turn to leave.

“Well don’t you want to know what she said?” he asks and I stop.

I guess I do.

“she said that she made a mistake and that she wants you back, Maxwell this is an opportunity of a life time, do you know what Tess means?” he asks and I shake my head.

“Tess means money, lots of money for both of us” he says and I can’t believe the words that he is speaking.

“I don’t want to money dad, I want love” I say.

“Well son, love is lie, money is everything” he says and I can’t believe my ears.

Did my dad just say Money is everything?

“Well not to me dad” I say before stomping out of his office.

I just want to go home and stay with Liz ….

LIZ P.O.V

I got dressed and left to go to the shops.

I decided to wear something simple, since I plan on spending the rest of the day in Max’s arms.

I really love Max, I mean I’ve never felt this way ever before and I don’t want the feeling to go away.

It’s like he makes me a whole, like his my other half.

I know it sounds cheesy but it’s the truth, I’m finally in love.

I drive into the car park expecting it to be full.

But I can’t believe how easy it is to find parking… amazing.

I’m walking around the shop looking at the items on sale, it’s just a little shop in the shopping centre but I think it’s the best shop here.

I mean it’s very clean and sells everything … well almost everything.

I wonder what Max is up to?

I hope everything is ok … I know that he hates his father and he didn’t really want to go to the office, but I’m sure he’ll work things out.

I’m glad to see what I great brother he is, it makes me wish I had siblings

I walk past the fruit section and grab some strawberries.

I remember Max saying that they are his favourite.

My attention is drawn to the magazine stand in the far corner, and I go over to read one of them, to see if there is anything new happening in the world of entertainment.

I grab a magazine and start flicking through it.

Wow… How many people are pregnant?

Gwen Stefani, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and the list goes on.

I flick the page and I nearly faint.

I’ve been home for about half an hour and I’m waiting for Liz to get home.

I’m going to tell her, I think now is the best time.

I know that she is going to be mad and maybe she will scream a little, but it can’t be that bad can it?

I hear the door open and slam.

“Liz, baby what’s wrong?” I ask worried when I see the tears in her eyes.

“Why don’t you tell me” she says while throwing a magazine at me.

That’s all I read before turning to look at Liz.

He has tears pouring down her cheeks and I just want to make her stop crying and hold her in my arms.

“Liz I can explain” I try to reason with her.

“Go ahead Max”

“I didn’t tell you because …” that’s all I get out before she starts screaming.

“Because you thought I was after your money, right Max?” she asks and I can hear the anger in her voice.

“Liz, that’s not …”

“Then what Max, because you didn’t trust me?” I know she’s angry but I need to explain.

“Was it all a joke Max?”

“Was it all fake” she asks and I shake my head.

“No Liz, it wasn’t a joke, I love you, I didn’t tell you because I was scared” I say and I want to continue but I see Liz shake her head.

“Max I love you, but I need to go” she says as she grabs her bag and runs out.
