Part 33
“I don’t like the looks of this.”
Serena nodded at her brother making sure that Kyle and Ava were still behind them both.
Kyle couldn’t help but break with the plan of silence.
“Where are all the skins?”
“Out shopping?”
Ava couldn’t help it the tension she felt was too much.
The other three grinned.
“Unfortunately, I doubt it’s that easy. Serena can you do your thing, Ava and I will keep a look out.”
“Sure Spence, I’ll just need five minutes.”
They had found the Skin camp in Portland. It was a small residential area right outside of the down town area. Only problem was it was deserted.
Currently they were at the center of the little town. Ava and Spencer walked a circular perimeter in opposite directions 50 feet away from Serena and Kyle. Just in case a lone skin did happen to miss the evacuation.
Serena decided to sit down. She focused on centering herself and then reaching out into the atmosphere for the emotional vibes left behind.
Skins where difficult, not only did they lack strong emotions on their home planet, but what little emotions they did have were further buffered by the husks. Serena would be lucky if she got anything from the area.
Kyle watched quietly as Serena closed her eyes. He too scanned the area while keeping one eye on Serena. When she sucked in a deep breath he bent down in concern, but didn’t want to disturb her if she wasn’t done.
It was only a minute later that she opened her eyes.
Ava noticed Serena standing and walked over to see what she had found out; she signaled Spencer and he too joined them all back at the center.
“The town is definitely completely abandoned.”
Serena nodded at his comment.
Kyle questioned, “Do we know why” as they all turned back to Serena.
“They were excited, really excited. The skins were leaving to…somewhere else and they were excited about who was going to be there. But underneath the excitement there was a shadow of fear. Not really sure if it was fear for the person who they would be meeting or fear of something else.”
Spencer was shocked, “You got all that?”
Serena nodded, “Only because they seemed to be caught off guard with what actually caused them to be so excited, like they had no idea it was coming. Plus there were a lot of them all concentrated in this area when they found out.
If they had been spread out throughout the town we would have needed Christina to pick up on any left over thoughts.”
Ava asked the next question, “So where did they go?”
Kyle figured it out before the other two could answer, “They're gathering. Rallying the troops just like us. Aren’t they?”
Spencer miserably nodded his head in agreement.
“We’ll check out the other two camps. Hopefully there are relocating to one of them before they go off to meet with Khivar. If not, we're going to have to wait till the big battle to get rid of them.”
“It’s okay Spencer. I know we wanted to avoid this, but we still have time to catch up with them before Khivar gets here.”
“So we’re off to Newport then?” Ava waited for a response, but Kyle was already strutting towards the SUV.
“Shotgun!”
“KYLE!!”
And once again they found something to laugh about despite the new obstacle.

Part 34
Pulling up to Newport was the same situation.
An eerily deserted neighborhood located right on the oceanfront.
“So they’re probably all in Klamath Falls; like you guys said its just like Copper Summit. It would make sense for them to gather in a community developed by them away from the prying eyes of humans.”
Spencer had to agree with Ava’s logic as he reached for her hand.
“I don’t know if you two should come with us there.”
Kyle was the first to argue, “Are you kidding us. You expect us to let you two go off and fight a camp of what 100 Skins. Are you delusional?”
Ava had to add her points, “Besides, Max ordered it. And fortunately for us you two are among the few in this group who don’t openly disregard an order from the King.”
Kyle had to snicker as Serena huffed and Spencer turned a darker shade of red. Whether it was from anger or embarrassment Kyle wasn’t sure, but he knew they had made their point and where continuing on.
“So do we just keep going or is Serena going to do that crazy sensey thing again?”
“Kyle, sensey thing? Try, picking up on emotional residue.”
Ava shook her head at the pair of them. From what Alex told her these two seemed to be almost as bad as Maria and Michael.
“Serena could you see if anything has changed since Portland? Maybe see how long they’ve been gone?”
“No problem bro. Ava stay with me, Kyle and Spence go watch for bad guys.”
Clearly being dismissed Kyle stomped away with Spencer following him a minute later.
Ava giggled as Serena again sat down centering herself.
“What’s up with you two anyway?”
Ava was startled by the question as she looked at Serena to see her lifting an eyebrow towards her in a very Guerin like fashion.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Serena just laughed and closed her eyes again as Ava blushed.
There were definitely more skins here than Portland, almost double the numbers. Serena figured the ones from Portland gathered here before moving on. She again sensed the excitement tinged with awe. The fear was stronger here, but it was a respectful type of fear.
She wasn’t expecting the void and it slammed her back into reality.
“SPENCER!!!”
Both Kyle and Spencer ran to her side as Ava dropped next to her.
“What was it Serena?”
“NIKO.”
Shocked, “You actually felt Niko?”
“No, a complete absence of anything. Anything, but power that is. I felt a void of emptiness and we both know only Christina can pull that off with the help of the Granolith, besides Niko of course. At least here on Earth.”
Ava and Kyle’s questions overlapped each other as they both blurted them out.
“So Nicholas was here?”
“Are there others, not on Earth that can do that?”
“Yes and yes.”
Spencer nodded in agreement, “But this doesn’t change anything. We still have to go to Klamath Falls and take them out before they gather with the troops.”
“Can you two defeat Nicholas?” Ava had to ask she knew the Roswellians weren’t too lucky in their confrontations with the small skin.
“Maybe.”
Serena laughed causing Spencer to amend his answer.
“Probably not. All four of us might have a chance, but hopefully Niko won’t stick around long in Klamath and we can take out the garden variety skins hanging around.”
“Back to the car then.”
This time it was Ava running and calling shotgun with Kyle hot on her heels.
Spencer and Serena just looked at each other.
“At the very least, life will be interesting.”
“Tell me about it.”
Spencer put an arm around his sister and they headed towards the car; both ignoring the other two and jumping into the back for the five-hour car ride towards the first big battle in this war.

Part 35
It had been two days since Max and Michael had started training Valenti, two days since they had seen Christina, two days since the others arrived in Cottage Grove, Oregon were settled and then left for the skin camps.
It had taken them that long to figure out how to help Valenti and then actually put their ideas into practice. They were all exhausted, but now the Sheriff could control his amplifying ability.
First, Valenti learned how to block it all together, not allowing either of their powers to be amplified.
Later on, most of the disagreements were from Max being too worried about injuring one of them in the testing, but eventually he caved to Michael’s idea.
They had Valenti focus on just Max as Michael would blast his shield. At first the blasts were just as strong as the shield was durable, but eventually Michael’s energy blast would hit Max’s shield and the blast would shatter.
It was a really neat thing to watch.
Two days later and a hundred shattered boulders Valenti could keep his energy to himself so to speak, he could divide it equally among the two or he could direct it into one or the other.
It took another half a day before Christina ventured close enough for Michael to get any sense of where she was at so they could tell her the good news.
She actually found them first as they drove through the desert trying to locate her.
“Hey guys, I see training was good.”
She turned directly towards Valenti as she asked this.
He nodded, “These two make a really great team. You should have seen them in action training me with this…power.”
Christina smiled, “Don’t worry Sheriff, I’ve seen them plan and do battle a hundred times, granted it was another lifetime, but it is quite an amazing thing to watch isn’t it.”
Valenti nodded, “So now what?”
“Yeah, what the hell have you been doing out here for almost three days.”
Squaring off against an angry brother had been what Christina missed most in this life so she readily jumped at the opportunity.
“None of your damn business.”
“What are you kidding me? You’ve been out here working on your tan while we’re working our asses off?”
Christina glanced over him, “Still looks like you’ve got some work to do.”
She smirked as Valenti chuckled.
Both Max and Michael turned red; for very different reasons though.
Just as Michael was about to find an outlet for all the anger, Max was able to overcome his embarrassment.
“Christina.”
It was a single word, just her name really and yet it held so much authority and demand to it.
She glanced once at Max, then back to Michael as she addressed her question.
“Has he always been like that in this life too?”
Michael smirked and nodded as they both finally backed off.
“Calm down Maxwell, I was just out scouting.”
Interest peaked Valenti asked, “Scouting for what exactly?”
“Left over skins who are wandering around lost and need an ass kicking. Oh and the Granolith.”
“Did you find it?”
“I’m insulted, did you actually doubt I could.”
Valenti and Michael both smirked as Max was put on the spot.
“We didn’t even know it was back on Earth. As far as I’m concerned the Granolith will always be a big mystery to us.”
“We don’t even know what it does besides travel to Antar and back in time. What exactly is it? A weapon?”
Christina smirked at her brother, “You would like that wouldn’t you General?”
Michael gave a genuine smile at the recall of his nickname from his baby sister.
“Nope sorry, it’s not a weapon.”
This confused all three of them. Valenti questioned,
“If it’s not a weapon why does Khivar want it so badly?”
“Energy. The Granolith is pure energy. Imagine a war torn planet after fifty years of fighting. Khivar doesn’t need any more weapons up on Antar he needs energy to feed a dying planet. Energy that is only available in items like the healing stones or the Granolith.
It’s not supposed to be used destructively and if the energy is channeled towards a destructive means it backfires.”
“Backfires how?”
“Okay, say Michael, you channeled the energy from the Granolith in order to have stronger blasts. And then used said blasts to take out innocent children or even unsuspecting human adults. The blast would backfire into you and the negative energy would zap you up leaving you in pretty bad shape.”
Michael huffed, “What good is it then if we can’t use it in the war?”
Christina smiled, “I never said that. We just have to be careful as to how we use it, what are intentions are so to say. Don’t worry too much about it now we have some time. Besides I still have to connect with it. I figured you would want to see that so that’s why I came to get you.”
“Lead the way princess”
Christina glared, “Sorry General don’t take orders from obnoxious older brothers.”
“Please Christina, I’d like to get back to my wife and child.”
“CHILD!!”
Both Christina and Michael laughed at Valenti’s shocked expression as they headed out.

AN: Dialogue taken from Crazy
Part 36
“What happen here?” Max cautiously climbed through the hole they created in the worn down fence
“Tess.” Was Christina’s matter of fact answer.
“What?” Michael never was one for understanding the obvious.
“Tess did this. When she blew up the Air Force Base.”
Max paled, “We’re at the Air Force Base.”
Valenti corrected him,
“Where the Air Force Base used to be. After Tess blew it up and then you guys left town the military types moved out to the surrounding area of Roswell further away from questioning citizens, but close enough still to keep an eye out if you guys had returned.”
Max and Michael nodded their heads in acceptance. “So where’s it at?”
“Right here. Two hundred feet south of us. Michael I’ll need your help.”
Michael stepped forward, “It’s underground?”
“Yup, not for long though. We have to dig it out and move it.”
Max laughed, “Dig it out and move it you say that like it’s a box buried a foot into the sand. It can’t be that simple?”
Christina raised an eyebrow, “Why not?”
Michael supplied an answer; “Nothing is ever that easy for us.”
Valenti shrugged his shoulders, “First time for everything. Right boys?”
They seemed reluctant but didn’t really have a choice in the matter.
Max and Valenti took a step back as Michael and Christina walked a few feet in front of them.
“Hey Max try not to get sucked in okay?”
Before he could even ask he felt the power as Christina and Michael grabbed hands unleashing the connection that was once so strongly intertwined between the two of them.
For the second time during a connection Max dropped to his knees in an effort to stop Zan’s essence from intermingling with Rath’s and Raeanne’s, but it was useless. As he felt the final ounce of control slip he raised he hand and brought up a shield to block their energy from him.
Valenti had watch Max struggle and when he saw him raise the shield he immediately dropped a hand to Max’s shoulder reinforcing the shield, manipulating the energy as it wrapped around them on all sides.
Max managed a small thanks as he gathered his bearings.
“How long will we have to stay like this?”
Max shrugged his shoulders, “I have no idea.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
On the other side of the shield Michael was in awe at their renewed connection.
He watched his little sister grow up in a life so very different from his own and not just because thankfully she didn’t have a Hank.
She didn’t have any questions about who she was or where she had come from because she just knew.
She didn’t lack control of her powers. From the time she hatched out of her pod she was able to block the thoughts she picked up from people.
He watched in amusement as Kal was rebuked by an eight-year-old Christina for only providing her with money to live off of and not emotional support in a family like environment.
He was amazed as he watched her develop a semi-loving relationship with Kal despite the protector’s best efforts to stay away from her and not fall to her charm.
Michael was awed as he caught numerous memories from a past life.
Through it all was the continuous rush of energy as it flowed back and forth between them: focused, strong, deadly.
While Michael was caught up in the flashes and energy rush, Christina pushed that aside for later. Right now she had to concentrate on the Granolith. It wouldn’t be safe to move it to the Pod Chamber; Tess knew where that was and probably told Khivar. It should definitely stay in Roswell though; Christina had a feeling they wouldn’t be going to far from the Roswellian’s home to fight this war.
Where to put it though?
Just as she was asking herself that question she caught a glimpse of a memory from Michael. She grabbed onto it and focused harder as it gained clarity.
Max looked at all of them, “There are 5 people in the world that I trust, and they're all standing right here. We can't let anyone else in. Not Valenti. Not Topolsky. Not even a new girl at school. No matter how tempting it is.”
Well a lot certainly has changed since then, but it was a place they had felt safe in and the quarry would certainly work out well for the Granolith. There were no caves, but they could carve out some space in the wall of the quarry to hide it.
After making her decision, Christina focused with her mind. With the energy of the Granolith starting to trickle through her it wasn’t a difficult task at all, plus there was the unadulterated energy her brother was so full of.
First she adjusted a space at the quarry for the Granolith to hide it. She ensured that the Hand Print only worked for herself, Michael, Max, and Maria. The others would be covered because they could always tap into the connections they shared to open the door, but giving all their energy patterns access would prove dangerous if any of them were ever captured.
Max was King, Michael was Second, She had a direct connection to the Granolith. Maria, not only was she human so she would need a safe place if anything should happen to the rest of them, but for some reason Christina got a feeling about Maria. She couldn’t place it yet, but she figured she would trust her instincts.
Once that was taken care of she focused on actually transporting the Granolith. Even though the town was isolated it would still be risky to bring it above ground and give the Granolith a chance to accidentally send off energy and warn Khivar. So she merely used its own energy to dissolve the Granolith form beneath them and had it rematerialize at its new home. With her main job complete, she took a moment to enjoy the sensation of energy flooding through her body.
With no more time to spare on the task, she dropped her barriers. In an after thought she hoped Michael would be able to handle it.
She felt Max and Valenti’s thoughts even through the shield.
The Granolith sensed the opening and rushed to finish the link between itself and it’s protector.
As the Granolith’s entirety seeped over her, Christina fell to her knees only supported by her brother holding her hand.
It was too much. Christina tried to pull away from the instantaneousness of it all. On Antar growing into the role of protector was a gradual thing and energy was given to her over time.
There was no more time so the Granolith had no choice, but to hit her with all of its strength.
She was grateful Michael was there to help carry the burden of so much energy and that was her last thought as she passed out in exhaustion.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It was only ten minutes later that Valenti let go of Max’s shoulder so they could see what was going on. Max dropped his shield as he saw Christina collapsed on the ground with her head in Michael’s lap.
Michael was slowly running his hand through his sister’s hair as she slept.
“Michael?”
Michael turned his head and both Valenti and Max stepped back in surprise.
Michael’s eyes were no longer the intense brown Max had grown up with.
They were a sparkling dark gold emanating power.
Valenti pointed towards Michael’s hand, which occasionally flickered with the gold energy.
“Maxwell.”
“Is she okay?”
“Oh yeah, just adjusting to all the energy from the Granolith.”
Valenti picked up the questioning;
“She’s connected with it then? And it’s okay. I mean Khivar doesn’t know does he?”
Michael let out a short laugh, “I hope he does know.”
“Michael?”
“If Khivar knows and he’s as smart as people think he is, he should be rounding up his Skins and running back home. Khivar doesn’t stand a chance Maxwell.”
Valenti was busy picking up Christina to carry her to the car so only Max noticed the glint in Michael’s eyes before they turned back to their usual brown.
“Are you really okay Michael?”
“Yeah Max, stop worrying.”
Michael smirked before he continued,
“Worrying so much will give you wrinkle lines. We should run by the UFO Center and check out Brody’s computers.”
“Why?”
“The Granolith felt something, we should check it out.”
“Check out what exactly?”
“Aliens Max, real live aliens on our very own planet.”
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Max couldn’t help but join his
friend in laughter.

Valenti picked up the questioning;

Had they not been just about to enter the atmosphere when the connection to the Granolith was made Khivar and his men would have surely know about it.
Lucky for the Royals and their team that is exactly what happen.
So when the ship stabilized after a shaky entrance Khivar was no more enraged then usual as he yelled at his troops for updates on Niko’s whereabouts, what the little brat royals were doing, and how long it was estimated before he could have complete control of Earth.
He thought it was such a cute little planet. And these humans with their emotions were really something to marvel at. He wanted to rule it all.
Preferably without the years of destruction and death like the Antarian star system had undergone.
He really needed the Granolith back to fix those planets into manageable conditions. The short time it was there was hardly enough to put them back in working order, they barely finished cleaning up the battle fields of bodies before that traitor Queen stole it.
Oh well he thought there was this new planet to worry about now.
“When do we land?”
The small servant boy rushed to answer, “We have just entered Earth’s exosphere. We have 800 km to travel before we reach the troposphere which is directly above Earth’s surface. My liege.”
Khivar merely growled as Caden ran off
He waited more than 50 years for this, Khivar supposed he could wait a few more days at the very most.

Part 38
“I can’t believe we’re left here like sitting ducks while all our friends are off battling the bad guys!”
“Maria!”
“What Liz it’s true. I’m stuck with the painfully adorable couple and the hormonally pregnant Queen who’s all mopey because the King is busy. With my boyfriend I might add.”
Isabel laughed.
“You make it sound like they went to a party and didn’t invite you.”
Maria huffed.
“They probably did. I bet there all back in Vegas and I’m here in middle of no where, Oregon.”
Alex tried again, “Maria sweetie. I love you but you’ve been complaining for the past two and half days. Just admit that you miss Michael and we can move on to the ice cream fest.”
“WHAT!! Miss… ha I do not miss Spaceboy. First he goes off with Kyle, than Max. You know I was his partner first. I trained him into the great investigator he is without me he’d still be searching through people’s toiletries for clues.”
Completely ignoring the totally confused looks from her friends she rambled on,
“Bet he doesn’t miss me, back in Roswell gallivanting around with Max. I hope he runs into my mother. That’ll teach him to keep running off without me.”
Maria’s control slipped and the few tears gathering fell from her green orbs.
“Why does he keep running off without me?”
Alex pulled Maria into a hug and let her cry into his shirt as Liz went to get the ice cream from the freezer. Isabel rubbed Maria’s back and grabbed her hand.
“Maria, you don’t really see it like that do you? Maria sweetie, my emotionally challenged brother doesn’t keep running off without you, he keeps running back too you. Every time. The only reason he has to leave you is to protect you. Michael does this for you Maria. To protect his family.”
Maria gave a sarcastic laugh, “Yeah you and Max and now Christina and those other two.”
“NO. Maria you’re Michael’s family. Don’t you know that by now? That man would do anything for you. Absolutely anything to make you happy, see you smile, keep you forever. The poor fool wants us all to think he’s a stone wall, but one look at the hybrid when he’s looking at you and his whole reputation is shot to hell.”
“I found the ice cream, Ria!”
Alex pulled Maria away from him. “Ria, are you hearing what Izzie is telling you?”
“Maria trust me, I know Michael, sometimes more than I wish I did, and he loves you Maria with his whole being. Michael is who he is because of you, because you love him so totally and completely despite his numerous faults. Trust me Maria please.”
Maria sniffled and nodded her head.
“I’m just being silly. I’m just so scared something will happen to him. I can pretend to think it will hurt less if I pretend not to love him so much.”
Isabel gave the girl a small smile, “I know from experience, Maria, that doesn’t work, not even a little bit, probably makes it worse actually.”
Alex smiled at his girls and wrapped an arm around each of them as he led them to Liz and the ice cream.
Alex’s smiled slipped from his face as he took in all of Liz.
“Ah, Liz, why exactly is your stomach glowing now?”
Liz lifted up the hem of her shirt to see two tiny handprints pushing against her belling and glowing brightly. A moment later she felt the drop in her heart as she was pulled into a premonition
~Troops were assembling in the desert. The desert that looked a whole lot like Roswell. A man stood tall in front of them all. He announced, “It is time my loyal soldiers to finally face and defeat the Royals. We will conquer them and then we shall conquer their planet.” His declaration was met by the roars of over a thousand men. No wait, they were aliens. The bad kind.~
Liz looked at her friends in fear a moment before falling to the floor.
Alex bent over her in concern, looking between the other two as they both cried out,
“Oh Shit!”

Part 39
“Maxwell can you get this stupid thing to work.”
“Well Michael do you want me to finish checking over Christina or turn the computer on?”
“She’s fine Max, come on get over here and make this program work.”
Max sighed as he moved from the couch over to the computer.
Valenti took over for Max and attempted to wake Christina; he had a feeling she would be needed shortly.
Michael said something about energy; she was adjusting to all of it in her now. Maybe he could take some of it away from her and then gradually expose her to it at a level she could tolerate.
Remembering all the warnings about connections he was careful not to touch Christina as he place his hands over her head.
In the background he could hear Max shuffling around the different computers and Michael’s occasional cursing.
Suddenly he tapped into all the energy Michael was talking about. He pulled it towards him. Absorbing as much as he could without blacking out.
Christina’s eye’s snapped open as her body was relieved from all the excess energy.
She was startled by the glowing of Jim’s light blue eyes, “Ready?”
His question was barely loud enough to hear but she managed, nodding her head.
Like exhaling very slowly, the Sheriff very delicately put back all the energy he had borrowed from Christina. It was a long process pausing ever now and again to make sure she was all right to continue.
After a near half hour Jim was exhausted, but Christina was fully awake and back to her old self.
She kissed him on the cheek and jumped up, “Thanks Mr. Valenti.”
He nodded, “Call me Jim, or at the very least Sheriff, like all the kids do.”
She nodded, “You should rest now.”
Valenti took her spot on the couch and passed out immediately as she went over to join Max and Michael.
“What’s going on boys?”
Max was startled by her reappearance, but Michael merely scowled before wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close to kiss her temple.
Max was about to say something when the program jumped to life. Max looked on in confusion at all the lines, but Michael noticed his sister pale. After five minutes without explanation he questioned,
“Ah, sis, what exactly does this mean?”
How was she to explain to her brother, even if he was technically an older brother, that the most challenging years of his life are going to be a piece of cake compared to what’s about to happen. How do you even begin to explain that the being who murdered not only you, but also all your loved ones was here to do the same thing again. The only difference: a planet and a bigger family for him to destroy.
How do you tell him that a world he’s never felt safe in is about to get a whole lot more dangerous. The exact moment that they have been preparing for the past two years, well really the past 5 years, is here.
At that exact moment Valenti woke up suddenly as if from a nightmare. The shock from sleep to wakefulness made him forget the control he had just spent the last two and a half days working for. As he shot up from the couch Christina dropped to the ground as Max and Michael both mumbled.
“Oh Shit”

Part 40
They had been in Klamath Falls now for a few hours. It was anything but deserted. The town was in a haze of activity; chaos was in the streets as Skins ran from one building to another almost preparing.
That’s the part that worried Spencer. What the hell were they preparing for?
“Serena?”
“Whatever it is it’s happening soon.”
Ava and Kyle turned back up at that moment from their scouting.
“She’s right, it’s happening now and its over there in the recreational center.”
Spencer turned towards Ava in question.
“It’s kind of like a dream walk, but when they’re all awake. I used my new connection with Iz to figure it out.”
At the elbow to the side she continued,
“It was Kyle’s idea.”
Spencer nodded in approval and Serena smiled at him,
“Good thinking Grasshopper.”
Kyle smirked at her before sticking out his tongue.
Spencer interrupted the two before they could get further into their strange form of flirting,
“Let’s head over there, Ava can you do a surface mind-warp?”
At her confused look he explained,
“It’s not a warp on every individual’s mind, just the one’s that look in our general direction; they look at us but can’t see us.”
“Sure.”
Spencer took the lead with Ava and Kyle right behind him. Kyle guided Ava as she did the mind-warp and Serena took up the rear, keeping look out for them.
As they reached the doors to the rec center, the entire room was silenced as a new, very important looking figure took the stage next to Nicholas.
Kyle noticed the figure as well as Serena’s reaction towards whoever it was, drew Spencer’s attention towards the figure as well when he asked,
“Ah, guys, who exactly is that?”
It was as Kyle turned to look at Serena for an answer that he noticed her wobble on her feet and fall into his arms, as he caught her he heard Spencer’s answer.
“Oh Shit.”

Part 41
“What’s wrong?”
Maria pointed towards Liz in response to Alex’s question but Isabel had put a hand to her head and sank into a chair. Maria rushed over to Isabel to assist her as Alex carried Liz over to the couch.
“Isabel, sweetie, what’s wrong?”
Isabel squinted up at the other blonde girl. Her eyes were frightened and Isabel was forced into a memory of when she invaded the poor girls dream. She saw them as horrible disgusting creatures then. Well Isabel had just seen her very own horrible disgusting creature.
“Khivar, he’s close.”
Maria began to panic, but then she saw the fragile look in Isabel’s eyes and forced the panic away.
“Okay, what do you mean by close?”
She watched as Isabel’s eyes unfocused for a second. She touched her shoulder and Isabel jumped.
Alex came back into the kitchen, “Liz is still out…”
Isabel flung herself into his arms and cut him off.
He rubbed her back and gave Maria a questioning look over Isabel’s head. He watched as she fidgeted and then mouth the name Khivar.
“Izzie, it’s okay. Can you tell us what happen?”
He felt her nod her head against his chest before she slowly pulled back and unsteadily sat back in the chair. Maria took her hand in support and Alex held the other.
“I felt him, get closer… closer to Earth. He’s pissed off, but excited. He’ll be here soon.”
Just then they heard Liz yell out in the living room. All three rushed to her side to find her still unconscious.
Isabel grabbed Liz’s hand and found her wandering around in her mind.
“Liz what are you doing?”
“Running. Hiding. Protecting”
“Liz, sweetie you have to wake up.”
“NO! Iz, he’s here. In our atmosphere days away from breathing the same air as us, taking over our planet, killing our family. NO! I won’t wake up to that.”
“Liz, we need you. Max needs you. Your BABY will need you. Liz you can’ t hide in your mind. You’re stronger than that at least I thought you were.”
“I’m not Isabel, not really. I’m scared, so scared.”
“We’re all scared, these are our lives we have to fight for. We’re all petrified.”
She waited. When Liz just continued to stare at her she huffed,
“Fine you want to stay here, I’m leaving.”
“Wait, where are you going?”
“I’m going to get Maria and then we’ll be back so she can drag your ass out of here.”
With that statement Isabel woke up and let go of Liz’s hand.
Alex and Maria gave her a look but she just shook her head at them and left to get juice from the kitchen. When she returned Liz was slowly sitting up with the help of Alex and Maria.
Liz scowled at her “You liar.” Isabel smirked at her in response.
“Are you okay Liz?”
Liz turned to her two best friends seeing the worry etched across their features she felt guilty.
“Um… yeah I’m sorry… I just panicked. I had a premonition of Khivar and his men and it scared me and shocked me so I guess I passed out then decided to stay there and hide.”
Maria smiled, “Next time your going into hiding how bout you take us with you?”
Alex snorted as Isabel and Liz smiled, “Deal.”
“I believe someone mentioned ice cream earlier?”
They all headed back to the kitchen only to stop at the ringing phone as they all glanced at each other in fear. Isabel reached for her phone; they had just decided they were going to face this together, no matter what it was so that was exactly what she did.
“Hello?…”

“Hello?…”

Part 42
“Serena wake up damn it!”
Spencer shook his sister shoulder, he didn’t have time for this; he couldn’t handle all this.
Kyle and Ava were completely confused but still kept look out right outside the building they had ran to for cover after Serena fainted.
Five minutes later Serena sat up slowly
“Tell me it was a dream.”
Spencer gave her a weak smile, “We agreed never to lie to each other.”
Serena spaced out for a minute. Ava approached to update them.
“They closed the doors, but ah… skins were bowing to whoever that was right before the doors shut.”
“It’s our mother.”
Kyle and Ava’s jaws both dropped open.
Spencer corrected her firmly but gently, “WAS. Not anymore, not for a long time has she been our mother.”
Serena again nodded more distracted though.
“Okay guys, so how do we do this? You’ve done it a hundred times before but Ava and I are new too this. And from what I understand this is the largest camp you’ve had to deal with.”
Finally Serena shook herself out of it as Kyle’s voice and more specifically his question penetrated her mind.
“Same as always, two of us to handle each part; it will make it the same even if there are triple the numbers we're used to. Right Spence?”
“Sounds good, where do you want to do this from?”
“Close as possible without being seen. And we can’t use mind-warp now to hind us you’ll need Ava too.”
At her name, Ava was encouraged to again question what exactly it would be that they were going to do.
“You actually have to let us in on the plan if you want it to be successful.”
Kyle smirked at the sibling’s confusion.
“Distract and Attack.”
Seeing their still confused looks Serena continued the explanation for her brother.
“Usually, I distract the Skins and Spencer takes them out since he has a more explosive power.”
“Distract them how?”
“She overwhelms them with feelings, emotions they’ve never experienced before. It leaves them preoccupied enough for me to attack without them having time to react.”
“Kyle, I’ll need your help with this since there are so many of them okay?”
“Sure Serena, anything you need, just tell me what to do.”
“Serena, we could set up right by the building there’s a small shed a lot closer then where we are now. You and Kyle can go there for safety and Ava and I will wait right outside the door until we get the signal and then go in a blastin’.”
They moved quickly and quietly to the shed Spencer had mentioned. Kyle and Serena slipped inside while Ava and Spencer continued on to the building staying low and off to the side of the main doors.
Kyle wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans; he was starting to get really nervous.
“So how do we do this?”
“Focus on your emotions.”
“Which emotions?”
Serena gave a wicked grin,
“All of them: how you feel about me, how you felt about leaving home, how you feel towards Isabel, Maria, and Liz, how you feel about what Tess did to you, how you feel about your mom abandoning you. What it was like when Liz left you for Max, discovering aliens, getting powers. Focus on every strong emotion you’ve ever felt.”
Kyle nodded slightly curious as to how she already knew all that about him.
“Easy enough, then what?”
“Just hold my hand. You have the hard part; after you do that I’ll take care of the rest.”
Kyle sat down on the floor meditation style finding his inner calm then shook his head and focused on the memories Serena brought up and all the painful or wonderful emotions that went with them, then he reached out for her hands.
While Kyle was gathering his feeling Serena has sat down next to him when she saw him reach for her she calmly put her hand in his and immediately felt the strength of his every emotion flow over her. She only let them stay within her for a second before she pushed them outwards forcefully, violently to the empty minds in the building that lacked even a fraction of feeling that Kyle had. They were about to be blown away.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Right by the main doors, Spencer and Ava waited quietly for the signal.
“What exactly is this signal?”
Spencer glanced into the worried eyes of Ava, “Don’t worry you’ll know.”
“Okay, so we get the signal and then what?”
“We blast em’ I’ll focus on Sundari and Niko make sure they don’t take us out. You take care of everyone else.”
She gawked at him. Everyone else that was what… 100 Skins… was he crazy. She asked him that.
“Are you insane, I can’t take out 100 Skins by myself!”
“Sure you can. It’ll be easy for you to get into their minds Serena will be distracting them. Pool your energy and make them see fire, hell you could even borrow a bit of Isabel or Max’s energy if you not sure of yourself.”
“A fire blast. It will take care of all of them?”
“Yeah, except Niko and Sundari, but I’ll take care of them best I can and then we can get out of here head back to every one else.
As Ava finished nodding she heard them all groan and saw from the window them all grasp at their heads. Spencer threw open the door to a startled Niko and Sundari.
Sundari gave an evil smile and Niko growled and threw a blast towards them. Spencer deflected it with one of his own. He felt Ava gathering energy next to him. He continued to throw blasts at Niko while Sundari merely watched in a sick sense of joy as her son was attacked.
“That’s not your sister, Saeran, where is the nuisances. Does your King know you are messing around with the fallen Queen? Ava my dear it’s been a while.
Momentarily distracted she quipped, “Not nearly long enough.”
Spencer chuckled as he continued his assault on Niko.
Ava had gathered energy remembering ever time Lonnie and Rath had belittled her, how difficult it was growing up on the streets, she recalled Liz’s kindness the first time they met, and how she now belonged to a family, a family she wasn’t going to let go of very easily.
Right before she felt like she herself would explode she pictured the fire blaze and let it loose on all the Skins still bent over half way clutching at their heads in confusion at the emotions they were feeling all the sudden.
Seeing what the ex-Queen was up to Sundari yelled out, “No!” before she herself sent a blast aimed in Ava’s direction. She was a moment too late however as Ava’s fire blaze vaporized the blast.
Spencer having seeing the blast shot one of his own at her as Niko tried to regain his footing.
At the last minute she dove out of the way so the blast only hit her shoulder. She landed with a thud as dust particles floated around the air. Ava dropped to the floor totally exhausted and Spencer was slowly backing towards her as Niko again stood up aiming.
Spencer gathered his energy and blasted it hittin Niko square in the chest but he barely flinched proving what Spencer already knew. He was out of energy.
Just as Niko was about to release a blast to end their lives Kyle lunged towards them and the last thing Spencer saw before he was shimmered away was a very pissed off looking Niko.
