Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Isabel leaned on the railing and looked out over the crowd of people but she wasn’t really seeing any. She’d watched Todd leave and she wanted to go with him. She wanted to comfort Laurie. The feelings she was having for this woman that she’d just met was strange. She’d never experienced something so strong with anyone other than Michael when they were young. Even her attraction to Alex had taken time to develop. She’d liked him and his humor for years but she never dreamed that it would grow into the love they shared now.
Isabel glanced over at Alex. He was sitting in a nearby chair looking in the direction Laurie and Todd had gone. Did he feel that same urge to go after her and help with whatever was bothering her?
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, hoping to cleanse some of the confusion that was clouding her mind. She counted to ten and reached out to Alex for reassurance but she didn’t find her lover. Instead of the loving warmth that Alex radiated she felt a dark heat enveloping her. The heat made her pulse race and her breath become raspy as it spread through her body until it settled between her thighs.
“Remember,” a voice whispered in her mind.
The voice resurrected a physical response that was foreign yet so familiar. She couldn’t explain the strange sensation overtaking her. Something deep inside felt like it was awaking from a long slumber, crying out to be let loose.
“Ours forever,” a second voice sounded as the darkness tightened its hold.
Isabel gasped and opened her eyes. The heat and sensations were gone but not the memory of it. She looked around the club, eyes searching. For what? She didn’t know but someone was out there doing this to her, wanting something from her.
“Isabel?” Alex came up and touched her arm. “Are you ok?”
He’d sensed something off for just a moment. Since he and Isabel had become lovers, he could feel her within him. It wasn’t overwhelming, just a calm sense that soothed him. But for just a moment, it was gone. She was gone. He didn’t like the emptiness it left.
Isabel grasped the rail tighter, stilling her trembling hands. “I’m fine.” She said with a steady voice. Her Ice Princess persona helped as she smiled at Alex as if all was ok though inside she was more perplexed than ever. “I’m just worried about Laurie.” She changed the subject. “I can’t imagine why she acted so strange when she saw Michael.”
Alex put his arms around her waist. He knew something wasn’t right but she wasn’t ready to talk about it yet. He’d let her be for now. “I’m sure Todd will find out.”
Isabel leaned into him. “I hope so.”

When Todd came from Laurie’s office he stopped by the bar and asked Glen to continue covering for him. Todd told him that Laurie needed him to take care of her guests while she took care of some management problems that popped up. Glen readily agreed, liking tending the bar better than roaming the club as security.
Todd headed to the where the others waited. Kyle had gone back out to the door but Todd knew he’d know everything that was said through the amazingly strong connection with Max. Since coming to Roswell and working with the Royals, Liz, and Kyle, he was in awe at the strength of the connections they’d formed with the humans. Even Maria and Alex. In all his years, he’d never seen an Antarian or any other breed form such loyal and powerful bonds with another. The group was a very tight knit family unit.
Todd sat at the back table and the others shifted so that they formed a circle around him. He relayed to them everything Laurie told him.
“You are saying everyone thought Laurie’s grandfather was crazy because he said he was abducted by aliens and now Michael looks exactly like him?” Max asked.
Todd nodded. “I saw the picture myself. It sits on her desk.”
“So he was Michael’s donor.” Isabel stated softly looking to Michael who was a brother to her. She’d often wondered how they got their looks. She and Max looked little alike and her thoughts went to who their donors were. Were they even brother and sister?
“Could this be some sort of trick by our enemies?” Tess asked. “A way to draw us out?”
“No.” Todd shook his head. “All she says is true. Even Kyle will tell you that she’s nothing but sincere in all she does.”
Michael had been unusually quiet during Todd’s explanation. He stared down at his hands and felt the other’s eyes on him.
“Michael?” Maria called to gain his attention.
Michael looked up and looked at the people who were his family. Even Todd though he’d not readily admit it.
“I always wondered where they got the human DNA to make us.” His voice was quiet but they all heard him over the music. “All those abduction stories…some are actually true.”
“Michael…” Todd started and Michael knew he’d throw some diplomatic crap together to try and excuse what they’d done.
“No! No more of your bullshit explanations. I demand the truth Todd. As the King’s Commander.” His voice was hard and cold, full of determination. Todd knew he’d tapped into Rath to make such a demand. “Did people of Antar abduct humans, especially Laurie’s grandfather, and torture him with tests just to make me?”
Visions of the white room flooded Michael’s mind. He remembered the sight of Max after rescuing him from Pierce then seeing Kyle and Max huddled together surrounded by white. Max had deteriorated quickly while back in the white room, his will almost broken. Is that what happened to the humans his people took? Were they held in sterile rooms? Were they strapped to tables confused and scared? Did the tests hurt them? Did his people even care about what was to become of their subjects once they returned them?
So many thoughts flew through his head and Michael felt guilty. The pain of someone else wasn’t worth giving him life. He was nothing but trailer trash…that would amount to nothing.
“Stop it Michael!” Todd reprimanded feeling the enormous guilt that crawled over his charge. “Stop those thoughts. You can’t blame yourself for something you knew nothing about.”
Everyone knew from Todd’s words that Michael was blaming himself for what had happened to Laurie’s grandfather. Maria and Tess both reached out and touched their lover.
“We didn’t know about this?” Max asked. “I was King…how could I not know?”
Todd sighed. He only knew what Larek had told him along with the mysterious tales of the past King whispered late at night.
“I will tell you what I know. It was a project Zan’s father, Tehr, started before the two of you were born. You’re mother…she had a hard time conceiving or carrying a child full term. An heir was demanded so Tehr got his best scientists together and started mixing and splicing DNA. Your mother, Dareia, had some sort of recessive gene that didn’t mix with her husband’s. Tehr refused to take another to bed, completely devoted to his wife despite the custom to have more than one mate.”
“So we were made in our past lives also?” Isabel asked not liking the history lesson she was getting, but couldn’t help but feel admiration for her father, being so loyal to her mother.
“No. She found a healer, one that was a recluse deep in the woods of Amtile. It was said that she was very powerful and a little mad because of it. Only the desperate went to her and sometimes those were never seen again.”
“So this woman…she healed Max and Isabel’s mother?” Liz asked intrigued with the tale of her lover’s life.
“No one but Dareia and the old healer know what happened there in the woods. Tehr knew nothing of this until much later. From what I heard, only a Priestess accompanied her, but she took a vow of silence concerning that time, refusing, they say out of fear, to repeat anything she saw that day. Within a moon cycle Dareia was pregnant with Zan and Vilondra.”
“So that could explain Max’s healing abilities.” Alex looked to his lover’s brother.
“Possibly. Healers are rare on Antar.” Todd shrugged. “6 months later, the two of you were born.”
“Did their mother have any more children?” Maria asked curious of the tale.
“No. She tried several other times but she’d miscarry every time. She quit trying and concentrated on Zan and Vilondra.”
“But Tehr…he continued with the project?” Michael asked.
Todd nodded. “Even after his death. Only Tehr and his scientists knew of it until your former selves died.”
“They obviously succeeded,” Tess said. “Or else we wouldn’t be here.”
“Larek told me that the scientists had found success after Tehr’s death in the form of a brother and sister. They were born as teenagers from pods similar to yours. They lived and were quite powerful.”
“We have a brother and sister?” Max asked unbelieving. What happened to them? Where they still alive?
“No.” Todd shifted uncomfortably. The others noticed this instantly.
“What are you not telling us?” Michael, who’d come to know Todd the best living with him, narrowed his eyes. Todd had a habit of telling them information only when they pressed him.
“They were made of human and Antarian DNA, but it was not of Tehr or Dareia. Tehr had commanded the soldiers of his Army to donate their DNA to the scientist, and being loyal soldiers, they did so without question and were sworn to secrecy. A Captain in the Antarian Army sired them.”
“Wait a minute. If I understand the reproductive system right, they would still need women’s eggs. Where did they get that?”
“Prostitutes.” Todd stated without emotion.
“And this brother and sister...who are they?” Isabel asked.
Todd hesitated. He could feel all of their emotions bombarded him. Anger, fear, confusion, anxiety, and the list goes on. Taking a deep breath he told them.
“His name is Khivar. He was the one that killed your former selves.”
“What?” A chorus of voices sounded.
TBC...

Chapter 32
Chapter 32
“Khivar and his twin sister were sent to the Brayben forest where the scientist could study and learn more about them. The best scholars Antar had to offer educated them there. Tehr, before his death, had everything planned if any pods should succeed. He set them up with a background of orphaned noble children so none would question their births. Once they were ready, the scientists integrated them into normal society.”
“If they were such a success, why did…Khivar kill us?” Isabel asked. A chill shot through her when she said his name. She didn’t know why she reacted so with just a name. She knew from Tess that she and Khivar were lovers. That he had wanted her back along with Max’s heir from Tess. Just the thought of being with the man who killed her in a past life repulsed her.
“The Crown has enemies. There are always those who are not happy with the ruling King. Those that think they could rule better. Those that crave power and wealth. Zan had enemies. At the time of Tehr and Zan’s reign, it was Sabdoth. He sought to take the throne. To rule the Whirlwind Galaxy with an iron fist. In fact, it was believed that he killed Tehr, but it was never proven.”
“Sabdoth got to Khivar.” Michael said quietly.
Todd nodded. He approved of Michael’s advancements as of late. He’s noticed the development of a warrior’s mind, just as Max was developing a King’s mind. Traits that will save them and their family.
“He managed to get one of his followers in to teach Khivar and his sister. The teacher poisoned their minds against Zan and the Royal family. Khivar believed that he was better than Antarians. That only his line should control such a vast and powerful Kingdom.”
“And why would he think he was better than the people?” Liz wanted to know.
“The studies done on the children found that their power and abilities surpassed pure Antarian blood.”
“Is that the case with us?” Max asked.
“Yes. There was something about the human DNA that enhanced normal Antarian abilities.”
“But your powers…they are so strong.” Maria said.
Todd smiled at her. He liked her. Her spunkiness fit in with Michael’s personality. “Remember little one, I’m not Antarian but Soltarian. Our abilities differ.”
Maria cheeks tinged pink but returned his smile. “Oh…right.”
“So what about Khivar’s sister?” Alex asked.
Todd hesitated a moment. “She disappeared after the Royals were killed.” He looked at his watch. “Now…I must get back to work. It’s late. I suggest you be on your way. Just be careful.” He said getting up and taking on his role of guardian over the group.
They watched as Todd went back to the bar and relieved Glen.
“Wow.” Maria let out a puff of air.
“Yeah.” Liz sat back in her chair. “That’s a lot of information to take in.”
Isabel yawned. “My head is aching from all of this.” Her mind was still reeling from that…flash? Dream? She really didn’t know what to call it. Then the attraction she was feeling towards Laurie on top of it. Really, she just wanted to crawl into bed and forget everything for a while. Maybe Alex could help her forget this alien chaos. “For once, I’m going to side with Todd.” She looked at her watch and saw that it was after midnight. “I’m tired and I think we should get together tomorrow and continue this.”
Alex stood when Isabel did. He could feel her jumbled emotions cutting through him. He was struggling with some similar ones, but he knew that there was more to Isabel’s stress than she was letting on.
“Good idea.” Liz said. “Besides…I believe we have plans?” She looked to Max whose cheeks reddened, but nodded and took her hand.
“Alright Space Boy.” Maria stood. “Mom’s out of town this weekend but said Tess could stay over. She’s about to start calling quite often to make sure I’m home tonight…with only Tess. Maybe you could…say, escort us home?” There was a mischievous glint in her eyes hinting at some fun to be had but he knew he’d not be there all night.
Michael sighed and stood up. As nice as Amy was to him, she was making it more and more difficult to spend a night with Maria. Tess…there was no problem. They were close friends in Amy’s eyes, like Liz. But Michael had not spent an entire night with Maria in his arms in two weeks. If Amy only knew what went on when Maria and Tess were together, she’d have a heart attack.
The group gathered their things and headed out the door. Alex wrapped his arm around Isabel’s waist and pulled her against him.
“Why don’t we go back to my house tonight?” Alex gave her a soft kiss on her temple. “I’ve got a thick blanket calling out to be used on such a clear night as this.”
Isabel gave him a smile. “That sounds perfect.” They could lie on the blanket and look at the stars. She knew he wouldn’t demand that she talk, just being there for her.
Max and Liz stopped just outside the door and pulled Kyle back a couple of steps out of the hearing of watchful eyes. Max stood behind Liz and wrapped his arms around her, his chin nearly resting on her head.
Liz reached up and let her finger trail across Kyle’s chest. “So…you getting off at 2, right?”
Kyle cleared his throat as her touch sent shivers through his body. It’s amazing what the lightest touch from his lovers could do to him. “Probably later. I’ve got to help Glen and the others clear out at closing.”
Liz’s finger brushed across his nipple as she continued her ‘innocent’ caress. Kyle gasped for breath as he felt his knees tremble threatening to give out.
“You’re still coming over?” She asked in such a sweet tone. Kyle could only nod as her hand trailed down over his abs to his waistline and blood rushed to his groin. With Max standing in front of them, none of the patrons could see what she was doing. Kyle bit his bottom lip fighting back a groan.
Max gave Kyle a wicked smile. “I can’t promise that we’ll wait for you.” He swirled himself and Liz around then walked off while sending Kyle a few erotic images of what he planned to do to Liz.
Kyle shifted, fighting the hard-on that was rising. “Fuck.” Kyle mumbled with a rush of breath. Quitting time wouldn’t come fast enough for him.
Michael drove his girls to Maria’s house. But as they got to the front door, he stopped.
“Michael? Aren’t you coming in?” Maria asked.
He shifted his weight. “I’m sorry Baby, but I need to go back to the club. I wanted to…no I need to talk to Laurie. I don’t know what I’m going to say…or even if she’ll see me, but…” He looked down at his feet.
“She’s family.” Tess finished for him. She’d noticed how quiet he’d been on the drive. Granted, Michael wasn’t the most talkative person but she’d come to realize when something was bothering him.
He nodded and looked at Maria, his eyes begging for her understanding.
Maria gave him a comforting smile. “Go. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Her hand rubbed his arm.
Michael gave her a kiss then Tess before getting back in Tess’s SUV and heading back to ‘Alien Abyss’.
It was after one in the morning when Michael got back to the club. But instead of going in and finding Laurie, he stayed outside by the door with Kyle. The line was gone but there were still people coming and going. The opening was definitely a success.
Some of Kyle’s old jock buddies came out of the club and gave Michael the strangest look but said nothing to the taller guy. They had noticed the big changes in their friend since the end of the last school year. He’d not gone to any of the sport camps he usually attended and he started hanging around his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend along with their oddball friends.
“No football this year, huh?” Michael asked when the jocks left.
“Naw. Figured it would be the safest thing. My powers still like to do those energy bursts and I’d hate to screw up and expose us or hurt someone. Besides, we are still having trouble with…. Well you know.”
Michael chuckled. He knew all about the sudden ‘flashes’ Max, Kyle, or Liz would get when two were together without the third. It took more than two hands to count the times Liz had to run to the bathroom with her face flushed and breath heavy in the middle of her shift. Max and Kyle were effected the same when Liz was with only one.
Michael was glad not to be having that kind of problem with Maria and Tess. Though the three had gotten control over it in the last couple of weeks, there were still times it would happen. It would be an interesting school year for those three.
“Yeah, guess I don’t envy Maxwell’s ability so much right now.” Michael chuckled. Since none of the others were having that particular problem, they deduced, Max healing both his lovers and how their connections came to be formed caused it.
After 2 am, when most of the patrons were gone, Michael risked going inside. He saw Todd at the bar cleaning up. Looking around, he didn’t see Laurie. Had she left already?
“She’s in her office.” Todd said pointing his thumb toward the back of the club.
“Thanks.” Michael nodded and headed in that direction.
Todd gave him an approving nod and went back to what he was doing.
Michael made his way through the tables and hall. He found Laurie’s office door open. He knocked on the frame. Laurie looked up at the sound and he saw her eyes widen then return to normal as she caught herself.
“Michael…right?”
He nodded and shifted his weight with uncertainty. He didn’t know what to expect from her or what to say.
“Todd said you’d come by.”
“Did he?” Michael asked not surprised.
“Yes. He said that you and I needed to…”
“Talk?”
Laurie nodded. After a moment of staring at him, she recalled her manners. “Please…come in and shut the door behind you.”
Michael took a couple of steps in then shut the door. He looked around the slightly messy office. Laurie sat behind her desk. There were a couple of bookshelves lining the walls and a couch near the desk. Perched on her desk was a black and white photo that caught his attention.
“May I?”
She nodded and handed him the picture. Michael stared at what could have been his reflection with the exception of the clothing and combed hair. He absentmindedly sat down on the couch, his eyes riveted to the photo.
“It’s true.” Michael whispered to himself.
Laurie got up from her chair and started pacing the small room. “How is this even possible? Your age…the dates…they just don’t add up.”
Michael pulled his gaze from the photo and looked up at Laurie. “Do you believe him? Your grandfather and what he said happened?”
Laurie stopped and looked confused.
“Do you believe that he was abducted by aliens?”
Laurie slowly shook her head. “I’m not sure. I mean, half of me says that he wouldn’t lie. He was a good and honest man. I can’t see him ever making something up like that. But…the other half of me has a hard time believing it. Most of the people who claim to have been abducted by aliens are cooks. I’ve done my research and met some of them.”
“What if I could prove that aliens exist?”
Laurie eyed him uncertain. “How?”
Michael looked around the room. How, indeed. It couldn’t be a simple parlor trick but then he didn’t want to completely freak her out.
“Pick a book. Any of them and bring it here.”
Laurie hesitated a moment before going to a wall of shelves and picking her grandfather’s copy of War and Peace.
Michael huffed when he took it from her and laid it on his lap. “Interesting choice.” He flipped open the book to a random page. “You may want to sit before I do this.” He looked up at her.
Laurie said nothing and sat next to him on the couch. She didn’t know what he was going to do but she wanted to make sure she had a clear view. Michael let out a quick breath to calm his nerves and waved his hand over the page.
Laurie gasped. She was now looking at a blank page. “How…What…?”
Michael waved his hand back over and the words were restored. She shook her head.
“Want me to do it with another page so you know it’s not just some optical illusion?”
She shook her head, eyes wide. She was shocked speechless. He moved the book to her lap and she looked down in awe.
“How is this all possible?” Laurie asked after several moments of silence. “You? That?” She pointed to the book.
“I’m about to tell you something that only a handful of people know but… well, I’m taking a risk and hoping we can trust you with this. I believe that you have a right to know the truth. Just promise me that you’ll hear me out and not…totally freak on me.”
Laurie was still in shock and confused. Her curiosity was eating away at her and she needed to know why Michael looked like her grandfather. She nodded her head.
Michael explained to her how he and the others were engineered then sent to Earth. He told her how he was ‘born’ and his basic life story. He didn’t go into great detail but told the jest of how Liz then the others came to join their group. When he was done, he waited for her reaction. He now knew how Max felt when he had first told Liz about them. He felt as if he was about to jump out of his skin.
Laurie stood and started pacing, her hands wringing together in front of her. She didn’t know whether to laugh hysterically at the nonsense or cry in fear. All the rantings in her grandfather’s journals, all the words that made little sense at times…they were true. Charles Dupree had been abducted by an alien race, had been experimented on, and then returned to Earth.
Then that same alien race had used her grandfather’s DNA and made another being. Resurrected a warrior general. Not entirely human, but not completely alien either. A hybrid, Michael had called himself. She wondered if that is why she felt drawn to Roswell? If something brought her here to find Michael?
“Wow. This is so…”
“Unbelievable.” Michael said quietly and looking down at his hands.
Laurie stopped and nodded at Michael. “I almost feel as if I’m in an episode of the Twilight Zone, or some cheap Sci-fi flick.”
“Welcome to my world.” He muttered.
“If my grandfather was your…donor? Then what about the others?” Michael had told her about Max, Isabel, and Tess being like him. He figured if he was going to tell her the truth, then he’d tell her about the others too.
He shrugged his shoulders. “You are the first we came across. In fact, we didn’t even know how they got our donors’ DNA until just a little while ago.” He rubbed at his neck. “In our past lives, Max and Isabel were brother and sister, twins. We don’t know if their donors were even related.”
“And Tess? You said that she is like you and a Royal. Where does she fit in?”
Michael picked up the photo of Laurie’s grandfather and stood. He took a last look at it and replaced it to its place on her desk. Now it was his turn to pace a few steps. He had hoped to avoid this part, at least for a time, until she could adjust to the knowledge of aliens walking upon the Earth. He took a deep breath and decided to get it over with.
“It wasn’t uncommon for Antarians to have more than one lover or mate.”
“Like the Mormons?” Laurie asked curious. She sat in the place Michael had just vacated.
Michael nodded and couldn’t seem to look at her. He was uncomfortable talking about sex with anyone other than his family.
“Similar. In our past life I was married to Isabel. Tess, she was the Queen, married to Max and she was my lover.”
“And now?” Surprisingly she was quite calm looking when he glanced over at her. Her voice was composed.
“My lover.” He stated.
“Wait…Maria was all over you a few hours ago.”
“Yeah. It appears that our alien side has come about in that aspect.”
“Isn’t there jealousy? How does that work?”
“No. I make sure I have quality one on one time with each girl then they have their time together, like tonight. It’s hard sometimes, but we try to spend a day each week all together. But as far as everyone outside our group is concerned, Maria and I are a couple.”
“You mean Tess and Maria…they…?”
Michael nodded.
Laurie started rubbing her right temple. “O…k… Very interesting. Well, might as well get all my questions answered while we are at it.”
“I’ll answer what I can.” He leaned against her desk and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Max and Liz is a couple? I saw him pull her off the dance floor earlier and go off to one of the storage rooms.”
Michael laughed remembering how Max had reacted to Liz’s choice of clothing. “Yeah. They have this whole soul-mate thing going.” He watched Laurie visibly relax until his next words. “Then add Kyle into the mix and they are quite amusing.”
“Max, Liz…and Kyle?”
He nodded. “They both have abilities also. Their power bursts are worse than mine at times.” He smiled.
Laurie rubbed at both temples. “So that leaves Isabel and Alex.” Her voice hitched a little as she said their names. She didn’t want to show how those two affected her. She wasn’t sure of what she was feeling, let alone try to convey those feelings to someone else.
“They are a couple. They have moved the slowest of us all to get together.”
“Anyone else?” She held her breath.
“No. But that doesn’t mean it will stay that way. Max and I never thought that we’d end up with two lovers. Tess was raised to think that Max was the one she was destined to be with. So we were all surprised by this.”
She let out a breath of relief. “For a minute I thought you were going to say that Todd was their third.” She tried to chuckle but knew that she’d feel disappointment if he said that.
“Todd is a different story.” Michael shifted his weight. “He was sent here to protect us from an enemy that is looking for us.”
“Sent here?”
“He’s pure alien, from a planet nearest Antar. He says that he was trained by who I was. That because of his skill he was sent by a friend of the former King, which would be Max’s former self.”
“My head is about to explode.” She mumbled rubbing at her temples again. She had an alien working in her dance club along with a human with abilities he received from an alien hybrid, and then there’s the feelings of being drawn to another hybrid and her human lover.
“Sorry.” Michael sighed and hung his head.
Laurie looked up at him and observed him. There was something about him that made her want to comfort and protect him. To keep him from harm even though they’d just met. Like an older sister. Could this be why she came here? To find the family that she could actually love and fit in with? Was her grandfather guiding her from the other side?
“What does this make us?”
He looked up surprised. “I don’t know. I hadn’t really thought about it. Alex had to make up a story of Todd being a distant cousin of mine to explain his sudden appearance.”
Laurie picked up the book she’d set aside earlier and stood. She placed it back on the shelf. “You know…I’m sure Alex and I could come up with a great story of a sister coming in search of a brother that she never knew she had until later in life.” She turned to him. “We are blood.”
Michael’s mouth moved but in his surprise no sound escaped. He cleared his throat. “Laurie, you don’t have to do that.”
“I know I don’t.” She walked over to him and smiled. “I was a lonely only child. I’ve always wanted siblings. Why not a brother and cousin?”
“Really?” he asked in disbelief.
“You trusted me with the truth. I can see it took a lot for you to tell me everything you did. Your secret will be safe with me. I’ve always wanted a close loving family. Maybe grandpa led me here to give me my deepest desires. How can I ignore it?”
Michael smiled. “Alright sis. Tomorrow we’ll get together and figure out all the details.”
Laurie reached out and embraced him. “Go home. Get some rest.”
Michael closed his eyes hardly believing that he had someone…someone who was from the same bloodline and who wanted him. He pulled away. “Be careful.” Then left her office.
“See you at home.” Michael waved to Todd on the way out. He gave Michael a knowing smile.
Near the door Michael saw Kyle trying to help an obvious drunk woman outside to a waiting cab. The woman was hanging all over Kyle and making propositions to him that any normal teenage male would be eager to accept. But Kyle was anything but normal anymore.
Michael laughed. “Glad to see you can still attract women Valenti.”
“Shut up Guerin.” Kyle growled and knocked the woman’s wandering hand from his crotch but his voice held humor.

Chapter 33
Sorry about taking so long on updates for this and LS. Unfortunately RL has had it out for me and my muse has been having a hard time. Also, my laptop decided that it needed to be sent off to be fixed, forcing me share the other computer with the three other family members and shortening my computer time (along with my nice quiet time for writing *sigh* ) So please bare with me. I have most of this worked out, just got to get the time to write it out.
Also, a quickie thanks to Strawbehry Shortcake...without you babe, I know this wouldn't have gone past chapter 15
Here's a little hotness for you just for Valentine's Day!
Chapter 33
Michael walked into the DeLuca house, a bag of bagels in hand. It was still early, the sun barely breaking the horizon, but he was anxious to tell Maria and Tess what had happened the night before with Laurie. The house was quiet and still, telling him that his two girls still slept. Setting the bag on the kitchen table, Michael made his way up the stairs to Maria’s room
He gave the slightly ajar door a push then stood in the doorway admiring the sight that lay before him. Maria and Tess slept together in Maria’s bed, neither clothed, and their limbs entwined. Maria’s darker skin tone set perfectly with Tess’s porcelain tone. Nothing in the world could compare to the sight of his two lovers.
Michael entered the room silently and stripped out of his clothing. With the gentle ease of a thief, he lay upon the bed and snuggled against Tess. Thankfully, there was no rivalry or jealousy between the two women. Neither saw his choice to pay attention to one over the other first as partiality. It was an easy partnership that made their lives much easier.
Tess moaned and shifted her body back into Michael as he kissed her neck. With one hand he reached over Tess and let it brush over one of Maria’s nipples. She moved and sighed as it became hard.
“Michael.” Tess sighed as she turned her head and snuggled into the closest part of Michael she could reach. She knew by his scent it was him without opening her eyes.
“I couldn’t resist the sight of my two goddesses.” He continued kissing her creamy skin.
“We missed you.” She whispered.
“I know Baby. It was quite cold in my bed.”
He had found that Maria is a little harder to wake then Tess, so his hand cupped her breast and gave it a squeeze before sliding lower to rest in her nest of curls. Knowing his lover’s body so intimately, he quickly found her weakness. His fingers were light but precise as they worked to pleasure. It didn’t take long to have Maria moaning and writhing under his touch, yet her eyes didn’t open.
While Michael worked on waking Maria, Tess had reached down and started massaging him. Her fingers were delicate and teasing as they worked him to full arousal. Her small hand clasped tightly around him and began stroking to the same rhythm he was using on Maria. Her head was resting on his chest as she felt his heart quicken and his pelvis rocked to her strokes. A deep growl sounded against her ear.
Feeling Maria moving behind her, Tess let go of Michael and slipped away from them. Michael stopped his movements and looked at her confused.
“Go ahead. I’ll wait.” Tess smiled knowing he had little trouble pleasing them one after another.
Michael sat up and gave Tess a deep, passion filled kiss before releasing her and turning back to Maria who still hadn’t fully wakened. Using one hand, he slid it from her neck, between her breasts, over her stomach, and into her glistening wet curls. This made Maria arch her back and moan, turning her head toward Michael where he claimed her lips. She returned the kiss with fire and only then did he know she was awake.
She turned her body toward him and pressed skin against skin, moaning into his mouth.
“Hey gorgeous.” He whispered breaking the kiss, letting his lips slid lightly over hers.
“Morning.” She answered. He could hear the smile in her voice and feel it on his lips.
Knowing she was slick and ready for him, he rolled them so that he was above her. With a knee he spread her legs and sank his length into her waiting core. Maria arched her back and lifted her hips drawing him further in. Michael moaned in response to her movements as she tightened around him.
Bracing his weight on his arms, Michael moved slowly in and out of Maria’s body. He loved watching her expressions as he made love to her. Her smooth skin would grow flush from the heat of their intimacy and her green eyes would darken in color but shine brighter. She would eagerly nip and lick at his chest, leaving marks and bruises.
Michael stopped his movements as he took one of her nipples in his mouth. Using his tongue to swirl around her flesh, he felt her harden into a stiff peak. Pulling away he blew breath gently on it causing a whimper to escape. He slid his body down letting his length slip from her. Maria gave a grunt in protest at the loss.
Michael kissed her stomach, going further down, then swirled his tongue around her belly button. She giggled as this was a ticklish spot. Using his hands, he pushed her legs wider apart. The scent of her desire surrounded him. He took a deep breath before flicking his tongue on her hardened clit. Maria squealed and jumped to his touch but her fingers grasped his hair tightly, pulling him closer to her body.
Michael allowed his head to be drawn in and let his tongue work on her moist folds. He gave a growl of approval as her slick juices were lapped into his mouth settling on his taste buds with great pleasure. Maria wiggled and ground her body hard against Michael’s working mouth and tongue as she got closer to climax. Lifting his head just a little he took her swollen clit in his mouth and gave it a little nip. This was just what she needed to fall over the edge and into an intense orgasm. Her legs closed trapping Michael’s head as her body trembled in pleasure.
Once Maria finally let her legs loosen, Michael felt light kisses on his back and hands glide over his skin. Sitting up and taking Tess into his arms they shared a fiery kiss. It was times like this when it was hard for Michael to believe that he had two women who loved him such as they. He knew what she wanted and how she liked it. Where Maria liked it more gentle and loving, Tess had a wild side to her. She liked it hard and sometimes a bit rough. Michael loved it all.
Breaking the kiss in need of air, Michael easily flipped Tess to her stomach on the bed next to Maria who was coming around and watching her other lovers. With tenderness, Michael brushed his fingertips lightly down Tess’s back. He felt her shiver under his fingers and knew this was good. As his fingers got to the small of her back, they spread and allowed his palm to fully make contact with her skin. Continuing downward, he cupped her ass cheeks. He gave each a squeeze and felt her muscles clench in return.
Michael’s hands slid around to her hips and lifted them slightly as Maria pushed a pillow underneath. Her hands joined his as they rubbed her back and sides together. Tess was soon moaning and grinding her pelvis, trying to reach a solid surface to rub against.
Michael leaned forward and kissed Tess. Their tongues tangling in a familiar dance but the air around them electrified as their emotions sparked. Maria let out a long breath feeling the mingling of her lover’s energies. Though she had no special powers she was connected to Tess and Michael. They had a unique bond, drawing her into their little world. Her skin tingled and waited for them to part before she turned Tess’s head and claimed her own kiss.
Michael sat up and positioned himself between Tess’s legs. With his hands on her hips, he made a thrust forward and buried his length deep inside her tight hot body. The three lovers moaned in unison and the air around them grew heavy with their desire.
Maria, though still sated from her release, pulled back and took a moment to watch as Michael moved gracefully in and out of Tess. His biceps strained but he knew that his grip wasn’t hurting Tess. She watched the tiniest quiver in his legs and butt with each movement knowing he was holding tightly to his control. Her eyes glided over Tess’s body, her creamy white skin, smooth shape, and small waist. Her heavy breasts were pushed down on the mattress and Maria reached out and caressed the bulging side closest to her.
Maria loved watching Michael and Tess making love. Though they were absorbed in the feelings and emotions of alien sex, she felt how much they loved and needed her. Even now, as they both seemed so into only each other, she felt included.
The air changed a little. Maria, being the observer this time, felt it more than the others. It was like she’d never felt before. The tingling on her skin became more intense, her breath quickened, and the urge to touch both Michael and Tess persisted. Maria sat up straighter and moved her hand from Tess’s breast to the small of her back. Her other hand reached out and found a place on Michael’s abdomen.
Locking eyes with Michael, Maria nodded. She didn’t know why she did so, but it was what Michael was waiting for. He reached around and used his fingers on the nub nestled between her folds while thrusting harder and faster. He felt Tess’s body stiffen and tremble at her climax. Her walls clamped tightly on him and he lost control, shuddering into his own release. Maria, feeling both bodies tremble, gasped as heat spread beneath her hands then spread up her arms and through her body.
The three bodies fell to the bed, gasping for breath and feeling satiated. The heavy air cleared as the sun brightened the room. It was several moments before any could gather the strength to move. Maria was the first.
“Wow.” Using her arms she pushed to sit up and looked down at her lovers. “That was wild.”
Michael rolled to his side and opened his eyes looking back and forth between Maria and Tess. Tess’s eyes were closed and her breath steady as if in sleep. Michael reached down and caressed her cheek.
“Tess.” He wasn’t worried. He knew from talking with Max and Isabel that they sometimes passed out after sex. He and Tess had done it a time or two but it didn’t happen all the time. They’d not really talked about the why of it, but maybe they should.
Tess’s eyes fluttered open and she smiled. No words were needed to express what she was feeling. Her lovers were feeling the same.
“I’ve got bagels downstairs. Why don’t we go eat and I’ll fill you in about last night.”
Being reminded of Michael’s meeting with Laurie brightened their eyes. They each rose from the bed, the girls donning a discarded T-shirt lying on the floor and Michael slipping into his jeans. As Tess left the room behind Michael and Maria she stopped briefly before the mirror and looked at herself. Narrowing her eyes, she looked for something but not sure what. Finding nothing obvious she shrugged and bounded downstairs for some yummy carbs.

Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Life for the Roswell Pod Squad once more settles. Valenti, Alex, and Laurie had little trouble of concocting a story and evidence that linked her to Michael. Though she loved her father and they were once a happy family, she remembered her mother telling her of a time when things weren’t so happy. It was when Laurie was still quite young. Her parents were having marital problems and they spent at least six months separated. She easily used this as the opening they needed.
The story was that during this separation, Laurie’s father sired another child with someone he barely knew. Knowing that he’d lose his inheritance and the information could possibly prevent him from getting back together with his wife, he paid the woman off and laid no claim to the child. His only request was to be notified through a certain lawyer that the child had been born and if it were a boy or girl.
Several years ago, Laurie found the paperwork her father had hidden away and started seeking out the brother she never knew existed. She also kept with the story she’d told them about her grandfather and as to why she moved to Roswell. Hoping all the bases were covered, the group accepted the story and welcomed Laurie into their slowly expanding group.
Todd and Laurie easily grew close as he worked more and more as the club grew in business and reputation. Getting to know everyone else was a bit harder. Kyle was the easiest since he worked at her club and spent some off time there helping her, David, and Todd out. Liz, Tess, Maria, and Isabel would go shopping with her when they could spare a free moment determined to show her that Roswell and it’s surrounding areas could be fashionable.. Alex volunteered to keep her computer network up to date and started a website for the club. Max came by often to visit with Kyle. Then when he could work it out, Michael would take Laurie for motorcycle rides out to the desert where they could talk and get to know each other.
School started again forcing the teenagers into their junior year of high school. They put up a lot of fight, not wanting studies and classes to interrupt more of their busy schedules but they all knew that their education was important. Even Michael started attending regularly, after promising the three women in his life that he’d do better and graduate. He also knew that he couldn’t work as cook in the Crash for the rest of his life if he was to support Tess and Maria. What he didn’t know was that Laurie had set up a trust in his name for when he graduated. She felt that no matter how he came to be, he was family...blood, and he deserved it as much as she did.
Isabel continued having her strange haunting dreams. Since the night of the club opening, she had not had another waking vision, which was cause for a little relief. But she found the only nights that were filled with peaceful sleep were the ones she spent in Alex’s arms. It was like they couldn’t invade as long as he was touching her. She still kept them to herself but she knew that she’d have to tell Alex and Max soon. She knew that Alex sensed her tension. And Max was there to sooth her after the bad dreams; the ones that made her call out to her brother or Michael. Neither pushed her for what she dreamed. Max knew better than any of them about nightmares.

“I can’t believe it’s only three weeks into the school year and already I’m swamped with tests.” Maria complained dropping her book bag to the ground with a heavy thud then plopping down at their usual table in the courtyard.
“They are only preparing us for college.” Liz said without looking up from her trig book.
Maria shot her a look of death. She loved her best friend, but sometimes she could be really annoying.
Michael leaned over and kissed her cheek. “It’s ok Baby. I sympathize with you. I had two tests already this morning.”
Maria’s brow rose. “And did you pass?” She and Tess had given Michael an incentive during the first week of school when he refused to study. For every test he passed, he would be allowed to make ‘special requests’ from Maria and Tess. They had a jar in his room just for that purpose. After every passing test he would write his request on a slip of paper, fold it, and place it in the jar. Then the day one of the girls could spend time with him, she would pick from the jar then do as he requested. All three liked how it made their time together fun and it made Michael work harder in school.
He gave her a large grin...something everyone had been seeing more of as of late. “Damn straight I did.”
Maria gave him a kiss on the lips. “Hmmm...I think you have a ‘study date’ with Tess tonight, right?”
Michael nodded already feeling the blood rush to his groin.
“Some of us are trying to eat here.” Kyle said, looking at them with his sandwich in hand. He never thought he’d see the day when Michael Guerin would turn sappy and...happy. Kyle shuddered at the thought. “Oh, and Maria, did you hear that Dad and Amy have another date tonight?”
Maria looked at Kyle and grimaced. Kyle couldn’t help but chuckle at her expression. It appeared as if Sheriff Valenti and Amy DeLuca had decided to start a little romance when their kids weren’t looking.
“I think they look great together.” Isabel said.
“You haven’t walked in on them making out.” Kyle said shuddering.
“Oh, and walking in on you and my brother is any different?” Isabel countered.
“I always tell you guys to lock the door.” Liz chuckled still working on her trig assignment.
“Point taken.” Kyle shook his head and put his sandwich down, no longer hungry. Before he could say anything else, his sandwich was gone and the familiar smell of Max wafted past him. Looking over, he watched Max sit next to Liz and kiss her on the cheek then start eating what was left of Kyle’s sandwich.
“Sure...help yourself.” Kyle said. Max smiled and winked at his lover.
“Where’s Alex and Tess?” Max asked looking around and seeing the two of them missing.
“In the computer lab working on some stuff for Todd.” Michael said.
“So what’s on the agenda for tonight?” Isabel asked looking around the table.
“Gotta work.” Liz and Max said in unison.
“I’ve got to work and study.” Maria grumbled.
“Studying.” Michael said messing with his straw in his drink. There was a sudden silence making him look up. “Tess is tutoring me in World Civ.” He defended himself. The others continued staring at him without saying a word. “What? She is tutoring me. I have a test in two days.”
“Riight.” Kyle said before looking to Isabel. “Dad declared that it was ‘clean out the garage day’ and made it clear I had to help.”
Isabel sighed. “Alex has to go to dinner with his parents tonight. Guess I’ll stay in and see what the parentals are doing.”
The bell signaling the end of lunch rang. Like well trained dogs, the students got up, threw out their trash and headed in different directions to class, off to finish up their day of school.
Isabel headed straight to her locker. She’d forgotten her Latin book.
“Hey sexy.” A voice sounded from the other side of her locker door. Isabel resisted the urge to roll her eyes and took a deep breath. She shut the door and looked at one person she was in no mood to deal with.
“What do you want Rob?” Her tone was detached and cold. She didn’t like Rob. He was a rich, spoiled boy who thought that all the girls should worship the ground he walked upon.
He casually leaned against the lockers and smiled. “I’m having a little trouble in Math and was wondering if I could get some help from you. You have what? An A in Mrs. Phillips class? I have tonight free. You can come over and...tutor me.”
“I don’t think so.” She turned from him and started walking toward class, her back straight and head held high hoping her iciness toward him would deter him. But she was wrong. He caught up with her.
“Ah, come on Izzie. You wouldn’t want me to flunk out, would you?”
Isabel shivered when he used the nickname Michael and Max used. “There are plenty of others who can help you Rob.”
“But it’s you I want Izzy.” Rob’s voice dipped low and he tried to sound sexy but all it did to Isabel was make her tremble in revulsion.
Isabel stopped walking and looked him in the eye. “First off, it’s Isabel. Not Iz, Izzy, or any other nickname you come up with. Second, I’m not a tutor. You can go to the guidance office if you need help and they will assign you one. And Third...I don’t want you. So get a grip and go find your girlfriend.” Her voice was stern and chilled. She hoped that he would get the point and leave her be.
Isabel turned and went on her way to class leaving Rob staring hard at her back. His face was red with anger and his fingers curled into fists by his side. His eyes narrowed as his breath was forced. After a moment he turned and started the other way.

Chapter 35
Thanks for all the fb guys. I'm sure you will enjoy this chapter
Chapter 35
Maria walked into the backroom of the Crash and let out a loud sigh. She put her wet towels in the dirty basket before leaning against the lockers to take a breather. Looking up, she saw that the clock showed it was past closing time but there were still a couple of customers lingering.
“You ok?” Liz asked walking by with a tub of dirty dishes. She deposited them in the kitchen and returned to Maria.
Maria pressed her palms to her eyes, careful not to smear her make up, but the pressure helped ease the ache in her head. Her skin felt hot and her nerves were tingling. It had been a busier than usual weeknight. The customers were cranky and as her luck would have it, Pam Troy, followed by her groupies, sat in her section just to make her life miserable by being nuisances of themselves.
Maria had felt irritable and moody all evening, biting her tongue many times to keep from insulting the customers. Her head had started hurting about the time the dinner rush had started. By now she was exhausted and still had a lot of studying to do.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. I think I’m about to have a visitor.”
Liz nodded in understanding. “The clean up is mostly done. We are just waiting for those last few to leave. Sit and do some studying while I take care of them.”
“Thanks chica.” She breathed in relief and pushed off the lockers. Opening the one assigned to her, Maria held a textbook in one hand while she shuffled through the rest of the contents of her locker.
Letting out a low aggravated growl, she turned and threw the book at the wall across the room. Liz watched, eyes wide and mouth opened at her best friend’s strange behavior. Never had she seen Maria act in such a way.
Maria gasped and her hand covered her mouth, eyes wide with shock as the book burst into flames before it hit the wall and fell to the floor burnt and smoldering.
“Please tell me you did that.” Maria whispered.
Liz shook her head. “Nuh –uh. Not me.”
“Oh shit.” Maria whimpered as her legs trembled and gave out.

At the same time…
Tess lay on her stomach in Michael’s bed, her breath rapid. Michael lay beside her in the same shape. Neither could stop the smiles lighting their face in satisfaction.
“You’re a pervert Michael Guerin.” Tess chuckled looking over at her lover.
Michael’s eyes swept Tess’s form. She still wore the extra short plaid skirt, minus her panties of course, and the white uniform shirt altered so that it was tight around her breasts and tied at her abdomen. Sometime during the last hour, her shoes had fallen from her feet, but still wore the white knee high socks on.
“What? I saw that Britney Spears video the other day and thought it would be a fun game to play.” Michael smirked, his eyes once more sweeping her body. He couldn’t get enough of his lovers’ bodies. “You are the one that picked it. I just put it in the jar.”
“You watch way too many videos.” Tess tried to huff and ended up laughing and turned over from her stomach to her back.
“You didn’t think it was fun?” He asked turning to his side to face her while his hand reached out to touch her.
As soon as his fingertips made contact with her stomach her skin heated and a flash of light filled the room for a brief second. They both looked down to see a tiny glowing handprint under Michael’s fingertips.
“Holy…”
“Fuck!” Michael finished as the phone started ringing.

“What happened?” Michael and Tess rushed in the backdoor of the Crash. They were greeted by the sight of Maria lying on the couch, her head in Liz’s lap and Max slowly moving his hand an inch above her body.
“What’s wrong?” Tess asked keeping her distance so Max could do his thing.
Max finished his scan before turning his attention to them. Scanning was a neat little trick Todd taught them all over the summer, but Max, with his strong healing abilities had excelled in it.
“Her body, on a cellular level, is changing.”
Michael knelt down when Max moved out of the way and brushed the hair from Maria’s face. The movement made her eyes open. Tears were in her eyes as she reached for him. He easily gathered her into his arms and moved so that he sat on the couch with her cradled close to him. Tess moved around and sat next to them and held Maria’s hand.
“What do you mean she’s changing? What happened?” Michael growled at Liz.
“It’s not their fault.” Maria said, her voice quiet and trembling. “I had a rough night. I was stressed.” She lifted her head and looked up at Michael. “I was tired and felt weird so I wanted to get some vitamins in my system and study for a bit. Then I realized I’d left a book I needed at school. I felt this rising anger inside of me; I couldn’t seem to control it. So I threw the other book and…” She choked on the last word and turned her head toward his shoulder.
Liz had gotten off the couch and was now holding out the charred remains of Maria’s book. Michael and Tess’s eyes widened.
“She did that?” Tess asked slowly.
Liz nodded. “I think she’s gaining powers.”
“How is that possible? Max hasn’t healed her.” Michael turned to Max. “Maxwell?”
“No, I haven’t healed more than a scratch on her and that won’t cause abilities to start. But…”
“What?” Michael demanded as his body stiffened. He had always feared doing harm to Maria. He never wanted to cause her to hate him, or regret he or Tess coming into her life.
“Our connections. They are all different and affect us differently. There is no norm for us. You, Tess, Isabel, and I share a bond that is unique to us. Liz, Kyle, and I have something different, but I changed them, making them different than Maria and Alex. You and Tess are hybrids. Maria is human…unchanged. It’s hard to say what effect bonding with her will do. Just as Isabel will have a different effect on Alex when their bond settles, or if they bring in another human. I’m sorry Michael. I don’t have any other answers…and these are just guesses. Maybe Todd will have more information.”
Michael rocked Maria, pulling her closer to him. He looked over her head at Tess. Tears formed in their eyes but both held back their emotions.
“Let’s get you home Baby. Get some rest and we’ll sort this out tomorrow.” Michael said softly. Maria sniffled and nodded.

The next day…
Liz sat in Geography class, trying hard to pay attention to the teacher’s lecture but her mind was racing. She kept seeing the book burst into flames before hitting the wall. She remembered feeling the intensity behind it, the residue of energy brushing over her skin and making her shiver. Whatever was happening to Maria, it was strong…like Michael and Tess’s powers.
Since developing her own abilities, Liz has been able to feel when one of the hybrids use their powers. Even the slightest use, like warming a cup of soup could be felt like the lightest breeze of wind. All of the aliens were powerful; each with their own strengths, but Michael’s was the most intense, potent in strength. Liz didn’t think Michael knew just how strong he really was, even with the training Todd had implemented.
Turning her attention back to the lecture, Liz tried to take notes. Half way through a sentence, her hand started shaking and heat began spreading through her body. She gasped and pressed her thighs together as the heat traveled and settled between her legs. The action did no good as her body shivered and her stomach fluttered. The heat increased, sweat popping out on her brow, and her face flush. She closed her eyes and bit her bottom lip to keep a groan from escaping her throat. She knew what was happening and silently damned them, especially when the images started rolling through her mind.
Liz tried hard to block the sensations and flashes assaulting her body, but nothing worked. She could feel some of the other students around her starting to stare. Raising her hand and forcing her eyes open, she got the teacher’s attention.
“Liz, are you alright?” The teacher asked when he saw how flushed she looked and the sweat rolling down her face.
“I don’t think so. Could I please be excused? I may need to go to the clinic.” By now Liz’s pulse was rapid and her breath hitched as she tried to keep her voice steady. She heard several whispers behind her but didn’t care.
The teacher gave his permission and with a great amount of control and deliberate movement, Liz was able to leave the classroom without creating too much of a scene. Once in the hall, she raced as quickly and quietly as she could to the second floor eraser room. She knew where they were and what they were doing. It had been nearly a week since this had happened and not yet at school.
As soon as her hand touched the doorknob, her body became rigid and her free hand covered her mouth to muffle the cry of pleasure that couldn’t be stopped as the orgasm hit her full force.
Liz stood there several moments panting and waiting for the aftereffects to calm when the heat increased again. Taking a deep breath, she threw the door opened and entered. Though they knew she was there, Kyle and Max continued kissing and letting their hands roam on their undressed bodies.
Instantly a green shield surrounded the walls and the handle and lock melted. Liz’s book bag dropped from her shoulder with an unheard thud as another orgasm hit her. She had to lean against the door for support, her head thrown back, and hands fisted at her side as a pleasure filled cry torn from her throat.
“Beautiful.” Kyle’s voice sounded through her clouded mind. She opened her eyes and saw that Max and Kyle now watched her but still embraced each other.
“Kyle…Max…” She breathed heavily but stayed where she was. She was scared to move.
“I love that look.” Max said softly as he nibbled on Kyle’s ear but kept his eyes on Liz.
Liz’s eyes widened as the heat came back in her body and rose quickly. She couldn’t control the pressure between her legs or stop the silky roar of desire that flowed through her veins. She whimpered helplessly under their gazes and prepared for another orgasm but then it suddenly stopped.
“Don’t you want to make her beg Max?” Kyle’s hand gently caressed Max’s ass and pulled him closer so their stiff cocks could brush together. “Don’t you want to make her ask for forgiveness?”
Liz stared at them confused by Kyle’s words. Her mind raced trying hard to figure out why they should forgive her. What had she done?
“I don’t know. I’m kind of enjoying myself. Can’t you just picture little Lizzie here trying to concentrate when her body refuses to listen? When all she wanted to do was cry out in pleasure, not mattering where she was or who surrounded her.” Max answered as he watched Liz press her back harder against the door and moan under his mental assault to her senses.
“Please…I don’t…” Liz gasped just as she was about to climax but then the heat backed off, tormenting her. She fell to her knees gasping for breath and in great need of release. She looked up at her lovers still confused but seeing their naked bodies entwined together amplified her longing.
“She doesn’t remember.” Max said softly releasing Kyle and kneeling on the floor. He cradled Liz’s face in his hands and gave her a gentle kiss. He leaned back as Kyle joined him.
“I guess not. Should we tell her?”
“In a bit, but first I want her to watch.” Max’s lips curved in a loving smile.
Kyle moved and helped Liz stand then guided her to sit in a chair. He kissed her just as tenderly as Max had and lightly let his fingertips slide down her cheek, neck, and across one breast. He felt her shiver under his touch. Kyle took her hands and placed them on her lap.
“Keep them here. Don’t move them.” He instructed then spread her legs wide while pushing up the skirt she’d worn. Reaching beneath the material, he touched her panties and made them disappear. Before removing his hand, he let a finger brush her exposed clit. Liz groaned. “Now, stay this way for us. Watch…feel.”
Kyle returned to Max and sat down beside him. His hand reached out and took Max’s length. Max looked at Liz and watched as she shifted in her chair, her knuckles growing white as she grasped tightly to her other hand. He turned back to Kyle and kissed him passionately.
Liz watched her lovers in awe. Despite how tall Max was, he fit so well with Kyle. She loved watching their muscles twitch and work as they moved gracefully with the other, their bodies gracing the other with awestruck beauty.
Liz gasped loudly as the heat intensified in her body drawing her closer to release, She hadn’t a clue how Max was doing this or even that he knew how. She couldn’t describe what she was feeling let alone understand it. She only knew that she was burning with need, and only when Max allowed it would she be pleasured.
Max pulled away from Kyle gasping for breath. He could feel Liz and Kyle’s desire rushing through his veins. It took every ounce of control for him to continue this game. He looked at Liz and saw her chest heaving with each breath. Yes, he could feel just how close she was…again. He loved how insatiable she could be with he and Kyle. Who’d have thought that ‘mousy’ Liz Parker was a sex fiend?
Max let his eyes lower and took in the sight of her exposed lips. With the ease of using her powers, she kept herself shaved leaving only a small patch of dark hair above her swollen lips. He thought it was sexy to feel her smooth skin like that. And when his mouth… Max groaned as his thoughts ran ramped and transferred over to Liz who began wiggling in her chair again. Max calmed himself long enough to see the glistening of her juices flowing from her sweet core.
Kyle saw where Max’s attention lay and knew what he was thinking…what he was feeling. He leaned forward and replaced his hand on Max with his mouth. He wasn’t surprised when Max bucked up and shoved his cock deep in Kyle’s throat. Instead of choking, he eagerly took it in and let his throat contract, forcing a grunt from Max. Kyle knew that Max was close, just like Liz and himself, and their time was running out. Giving Max a few deep, long, slow sucks Kyle worshiped the dick in his mouth.
Max let out a groan when Kyle removed his mouth. “It’s time.” He whispered in Max’s ear.
Max nodded and moved so he was between Liz’s spread legs. He looked up at her and couldn’t stop thinking how beautiful she was and how lucky he was to have someone like her. Max’s hands lay lightly on her thighs, just below the bottom of her skirt and his fingers so close to her burning core. His fingers itched to touch her but he had to follow the plan.
“Do you remember the night Laurie’s club opened?”
Liz swallowed hard and nodded. The heat lingering strong in her body raised a notch and she fought the urge to push Max back and ride him hard and fast until she came. With those thoughts, she was assaulted by images of her dancing with the girls, how the clothing she wore showed a lot of skin. She felt the lust and yearning of the one who was watching her. Then she saw herself from another view, farther away but the emotions accompanying them were just as strong as the first.
“Kyle and I thought that you needed to learn a lesson in controlling how you tease and tempt us.”
“I’m..” Liz started but the heat inside rose higher and took her breath away.
“We just wanted you to know what it’s like to be teased.” Kyle added coming up behind Max and kissing his shoulder.
“Sorry.” She breathed out.
“You’re forgiven.” Max smiled. “No sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself.”
Max turned toward Kyle and embraced. They slid to the floor until Max was lying over Kyle’s body. With their mouths melded together, Max started sliding up and down Kyle’s body, their dicks rubbing on each other. They moaned in unison as their passion escalated.
Liz watched Max and Kyle make love to each other, their hands roaming the other’s body, moving smoothly together. She felt them inside of her, felt how close they were to orgasm, like she. She gave a groan when Kyle’s hands reached around and squeezed Max’s ass. She could practically feel his soft skin in her hands and wanted so badly to touch skin…any skin.
Liz let her fingers relax and slide slowly over her lap and under the hem of her skirt. She could feel the heat of her moist folds before she could touch them.
“Don’t.” Max commanded and forcing her hands back on her lap with is powers.
“Max…” She whimpered.
“Uh-huh. Don’t rush it.” He said turning his attention back to Kyle.
Liz let out a sigh and let her head fall back as a jolt of pleasure rocked her body. She nearly bucked out of the chair with the force of it. She was so close…she needed…then lights before her eyes exploded as her body trembled in release. She screamed in ecstasy the same time Max and Kyle spilled their seed on each other.
It was several minutes before anyone in the room moved, the only sound were their ragged breaths. The bell indicating it was time to switch classes rang making them jump.
“Time’s up.” Kyle sighed.
“Yeah. Time to get back to the grind.”
“Has anyone ever told you that the two of you don’t play fair?” Liz asked pushing herself off the chair and onto wobbly legs.
Max and Kyle chuckled and dressed.
Once they put themselves together Kyle was the first to leave. Liz rose up on her toes and kissed Max.
“Lesson learned.” She said but there was a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Max raised a brow at her but the tardy bell rang before he could say anything and she rushed out of the room. He shook his head and went to leave when he was shoved back inside and lips were pressed on his mouth.
Max’s body froze and became unresponsive to the foreign touch. His hands found shoulders and pushed the body away.
“What the hell?” Max growled angrily.
“Oh, come on Max.” Pam Troy whined. “You know that I can offer you a lot more than Parker can.”
Max shoved her away feeling repulsed by her touch. He wanted to wash out his mouth and sterilize his lips but made do with wiping them on his sleeve.
“Not interested Pam. Now let me by.”
Pam’s face turned red and her try at a seductive smile faded into a grimace. “How can that be? How can you turn me down?” Her hands cupped her breasts in offering.
“I can and I did.” Max said angrily. He had no patience for her and her antics. He picked up his book bag and shoved her away to walk out the door.
“No one says no to me.” Pam screeched as he slammed the door behind him.

“Do you think she knows yet?” He asked.
She shook her head. “No, not that I can tell. Everything is ready.”
“Good. Now, if we can get through the next couple of days.” He sighed.

Chapter 35
Maria walked into the backroom of the Crash and let out a loud sigh. She put her wet towels in the dirty basket before leaning against the lockers to take a breather. Looking up, she saw that the clock showed it was past closing time but there were still a couple of customers lingering.

~*~
“Do you think she knows yet?” He asked.
She shook her head. “No, not that I can tell. Everything is ready.”
“Good. Now, if we can get through the next couple of days.” He sighed.

Chapter 36
Chapter 36
Jim tried to work on the reports that lay in front of him, but his mind kept drifting from his task. He was worried about Maria. He had wanted to call and see how she was doing that morning but didn’t think it was appropriate. Yes, he was dating Amy, and yes Tess had spent the night, but he had not wanted to take the chance of Amy answering the phone and having to explain why he was calling and asking about Maria’s well-being.
He remembered the concern that Tess had tried to hide when she called the night before. He had at first protested when Tess said she was staying at Maria’s. There were ground rules set at the Valenti house. There were to be no sleepovers on school nights unless there was a…”crisis”. But when Tess told him what had happened he agreed as long as it was just her. Michael needed to go home. He didn’t want to hear from Amy how she had to hurt the boy when she found him in Maria’s room.
Jim had had an entire summer to get used to the strange groupings of hybrids and humans. He accepted Kyle’s relationship with Max and Liz, along with Tess’s with Michael and Maria. But the boy girl sleepovers bothered him most. He knew where those would lead and the consequences if they weren’t careful. This was the reason he’d sat down with all eight teens and had a long, uncomfortable sex talk and cautioned them if they weren’t thoughtful.
But four of the teens were alien hybrids, two enhanced humans, and two normal humans. Their hormonal levels were constantly racing, which is why he did the things he did and hoped for the best. He did the best he could for Kyle and Tess and hoped the others would follow the example. They weren’t bad kids, but they were still teenagers and made mistakes.
Movement at the door caught Jim’s attention.
“Michael? What’s wrong?” Jim asked with concern.
Michael shrugged. “There’s no…emergency but…” The sentence fell off.
“Come on in.” Jim waited as Michael closed the door behind him and sat in one of the chairs in front of his desk. “Shouldn’t you be at school? I thought you weren’t going to ditch anymore classes unless necessary.”
“Um, well, yeah, I wasn’t but…” Michael hesitated as he scratched at his eyebrow. “I didn’t know who else to turn to with this.”
Jim nodded feeling a little pride that Michael felt he could come to him with problems. It showed progress on Michael’s part as he became more open to asking for help. A sign of maturity.
“How’s Maria?” Jim asked. His curiosity about Maria’s well-being was about to eat away at him.
“Better. What happened last night really freaked her out. Tess said she was up half the night calming her down and talking.”
“I’m glad. Now, what can I help you with?” Jim asked seeing that Michael wasn’t going to volunteer too much information. The poor teen looked as if he was about to jump out of his skin. The items on the desk began to vibrate as Michael closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When his eyes opened again it had stopped.
“Sorry. I just…” Michael sighed. “I need some advise.”
Jim looked at the boy in front of him and was amazed at the changes taking place in Michael. No longer did he see a rebellious boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Sitting before him was a powerful alien struggling to learn to control his abilities and trying hard to live a normal life. This boy hadn’t chosen to be put in the home he grew up in. He had been scared and ran into the desert when the Evans’ had found Max and Isabel. Jim knew that if Michael had stayed with the other two, Diane and Philip would have adopted him as well.
Jim had also seen a significant difference in his own life in the past year. He’d gone from being obsessed with finding out all of Max’s secrets to being a guardian and father figure to a group of eight teenagers, a protector of sorts over four aliens.
“I’m all ears.” Jim pushed the files away, folded his hands on top of the desk and waited patiently.
Michael scratched his eyebrow again. “I have a problem that…I don’t know how to handle. I’m not sure how to go about it.”
“Does this have anything to do with what happened with Maria last night?”
“No. Yes. I’m not sure.” Michael looked down at his tightly clasped hands lying in his lap. His knuckles were white. “Last night Tess and I were…studying when something happened.”
Michael looked up and saw that Jim was looking at him with a raised brow. He shook his head and sighed. He wasn’t lying. Tess always made him study for 45 minutes before they did anything else.
“Anyway, when I, um, touched her stomach there was this…” He paused as if searching for the right words. Jim looked around the room as the pictures on the walls started shaking.
“Michael, you’ve got to calm down before you cause the room to implode. Take your time but tell me what happened.” Jim coaxed Michael but felt a bit of dread in his gut. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to hear what had happened.
“Tess is pregnant.” Michael blurted out.
“What?” Jim’s hands slammed on the desk as he stood abruptly making Michael flinch and look away from the older man. Later Jim would ponder that moment. With a flick of a wrist Michael could blow up the entire room, especially in the state he was in, but here Jim was, a mere human, standing over a frightened boy.
“There was this handprint when I touched her and I could feel the life inside of her. It was amazing but scary.” Michael started explaining and looked up at Jim. “I thought we were being careful. I could always tell when she or Maria were ovulating but…” Michael knew he was rambling, letting too much out but he couldn’t stop as his nervousness ate at him. He’d definitely been around Maria for way too long.
The picture behind Jim flew off the wall and shattered while the lights began to flicker. Jim looked around and let out a slow breath before forcing his body to sit back into his chair. Keeping his anger more in check, Jim realized that he could see Michael’s fear and vulnerability shining brightly in his eyes.
Hank had been a shitty parent and role model to Michael. He never should have been allowed to get his hands on Michael. But at that moment, Jim could see how much Michael needed an adult role model in his life. The boy was scared and he’d come for advice. Michael trusted him, needed his help and guidance. Jim knew he couldn’t let his emotions screw this up.
“I’m sorry Michael.” Jim said softly trying to soothe Michael. He could see a slight shiver in his shoulders and knew that it was taking a lot for Michael to control the power flowing through him. “It just surprised me. Take a few deep breaths and we’ll talk about this like men.”
Jim watched as Michael did as he suggested. The lights steadied and the pictures stilled.
“Ok, you said you can feel when the girls…?”
“Yeah. Maria’s on the pill but we don’t know how it will react to our chemistry so Tess isn’t. Plus, to get the pill she’d have to go to a doctor. But I swear to you, we are careful. When either of them are…” Michael glanced down and Jim could see a slight pink to his cheeks. “Ovulating I don’t…well, there is no intercourse.”
Jim hated knowing that his son and the girl he had come to think of as a daughter were having sex but in reality, he’d rather know what and where they were doing it then having someone else tell him about it. It was a double edge sword, Jim not really able to win either way.
“Then how could this have happened?”
Michael shrugged. “I don’t know.” He shook his head. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. I’m only 17. I don’t think I’m ready to be a father.”
Jim looked at Michael in the eye. “No, you aren’t. But now you don’t have a choice.” He ran his hands over his face. “I know you didn’t mean for this to happen son. Do the others know?”
“Not yet. Only Tess and I.”
“And Tess being pregnant could have something to do with Maria’s sudden appearance of powers.”
“Possibly. It happened about the same time we saw the handprint.” He ran a hand through his hair.
Jim wasn’t sure he could give Michael the advice he was seeking. He didn’t know really what to make of all of this.
“This is going to be a mess.” Jim mumbled.
“You’re telling me.” Michael grumbled. “According to what Nesado told Tess, since a hybrid is the father, her pregnancy will last about five months but even he wasn’t sure. We were the first hybrids that ever survived and they could only guess with our biologies when it came to mating. She knows a little about what her body will go through but not everything, especially how bonding to a human will affect it all.”
“We’ve got a bigger problem than that Michael. How are we going to explain that you’re the father to Tess’s baby when you’re dating Maria?”
Michael’s face paled. “Oh shit. That could be a problem.”
“Yeah, and what about Amy?”
Michael’s face turned white at the mention of Maria’s mother’s name. He looked close to passing out.
“I’m so dead.”
“Make that both of us.” Jim nodded knowing that when Amy finds out the truth, which she will have to now, she’ll kill him for keeping it from her.
“When are you planning to tell Maria?”
“Tonight. We’ve got the party tomorrow, after that we’ll tell the others.”
Jim nodded. “Ok. Then we can think of a convincing story together.” He paused looking at Michael. “You know, before the three of you bonded you and Maria were constantly off and on. Maybe that can help us.”
“Maybe.”
“Get back to school before you are missed.”
“Did you want me to help with that?” Michael asked looking to the shattered picture lying behind Jim.
“No. I’ll take care of it. I didn’t really like that picture anyway.” He glanced down at the picture of Roswell’s mayor. Michael stood and went to leave. “Michael.” Michael looked back. “It will be alright son.”
“I hope so.” Michael said softly unsure. “And thanks…uh.”
“I think you can call me Jim since I’m about to be the grandpa to your child.”
Michael gave him a small, unsure smile. “Thanks Jim.”
The door closed and Jim held his head in his hands. “Me too.”

Later that day…
The club was quiet. There was still two hours before it opened to the public. Todd was in the backroom doing inventory and gathering an order while Alex was in Laurie’s office in front of the computer clearing through some updates and maintenance.
“Just about done?” Laurie asked walking in.
Alex glanced up and smiled at her. “Yeah, but come here. I have to show you how to shut this program down if I’m not around.”
Laurie rounded the desk and stood behind him only to lean over his shoulder. Her face was inches from his and his breath caught as her scent filled the air around him. She smelled sweet like exotic fruit. Her long hair fell over her shoulder to lie on his.
Alex clenched his jaw as he fought the strange urge sweeping through his body. He tried to concentrate on an image of Isabel but Laurie’s face joined hers driving the flame of desire hotter. Resisting the lust that flooded his body Alex turned his attention to the computer screen and started explaining the program he’d installed.
Alex thought he could resist the feelings that he experienced every time he was near Laurie, but he was finding it harder and harder to handle. Her image had started filling his dreams not long ago making him wake soaked in sweat and aching with need.
He had wanted to talk with Michael and ask how he dealt with his feelings toward Tess while he was with Maria but they had both been so busy that he’d not had time to pull Michael aside to talk. He was also a little uncomfortable talking to Michael about something so intimate. He and Michael were friends but not as close as he was with Maria or Liz. Alex hoped these feelings were because they had found their ‘third’ the way Max and Michael had.
He loved Isabel more than life and didn’t want this to be him just having lustful thoughts about another woman because it was getting harder and harder to ignore. After talking to Maria recently he knew that she had fought her feelings for Tess until she realized that if she wanted Michael she would have to accept what both he and she felt for Tess.
Alex had other concerns that clouded his mind though. Isabel was fighting this more than any of the others. His relationship with Isabel had moved slower than the others. They had slowly working their way into their relationship one step at a time. Isabel was very guarded of her feelings and how she showed them. He didn’t for one second doubt the love she had for him but he had concerns of her well-being. Concerns as to why she was fighting this so hard. Was it because Isabel was the only alien if Laurie was their third? Was the connection not as strong as Michael and Max experienced?
Whatever the reason Alex was worried about his girlfriend. She refused to even speak of a possibility of having feelings for Laurie. She was also looking very tired lately. He knew that she hadn’t been sleeping well and though she’s been trying hard to hide it, there was something more going on than Laurie.
“That looks simple.” Laurie said turning her head toward Alex. When he turned at the same time their lips brushed. Alex froze, his body tightening in surprise. Their eyes locked and Alex found he could no longer deny his desire for her. With that gentle brush of skin he’d gotten a taste and wanted more. From the look on Laurie’s face she felt the same.
Laurie moved so that their lips met again. The kiss was light and tentative but at the touch his lips opened, welcoming her tongue as it swept across his skin. Alex felt his body tingling like it did when he was with Isabel, a sensation that told him he was with the one meant for him.
That last thought froze his heart making him jerk away, eyes wide and fear showing in his expression. Yes, Alex thought that Laurie would be their third but kissing Laurie and feeling the way he did made him feel a weight of guilt. He felt as if he were cheating on Isabel.
“I’m…shit, I’m sorry. Oh god…I can’t…I just…” Alex jumped from the chair and rushed to the door. Fumbling with the knob he softly cursed before the door swung open. Rushing out he ran into Todd’s hard chest.
“Um..shit!” He mumbled pushing past Todd and left the club.
Todd turned and looked at Laurie who was staring blankly at the doorway, her fingers on her lips as if dazed.
‘It’s about time.’ Todd thought but said instead, “Everything is ready for opening and we are all set for tomorrow night.”

Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Todd walked into the club and heard laughter coming from Laurie’s office. His brows drew together when he saw David and Galen over at the bar going over the order sheets. He knew Alex and the others were still at school so he was curious who was with Laurie. He said a friendly hello to the guys and headed to the back.
Five steps from the door he heard her voice, freezing him mid stride. His heart stopped and his breath stuck in his throat. His hands tightened in to fists at his side and he was forced to push the air from his lungs in order to draw in another breath.
The laughter rang in his ears like bells but it didn’t bring good thoughts to his mind. Only anger and heartbreak. Forcing his emotions down he moved to the open door. Laurie looked up when Todd stopped just inside the doorway.
“Todd. Just the person I was waiting for.” She smiled and stood. The woman that sat opposite of Laurie stood and turned toward Todd. “I’d like for you to meet Cyndi Talon. She’s helping us out tonight and will fill our open waitress position.”
Cyndi stood about five foot seven inches with a petite build. She had midnight black hair with streaks of dark purple throughout her wavy tresses. Her eyes were the same shade as the purple in her hair and her lips as red as blood. She wore a white tank top under a black unbuttoned shirt that reached the top of her black encased thighs, her pants hugging her curves sensually. Her tanned skin offset the colors making her a stunning in appearance.
Her lips tipped upward to make a smile and she held out a hand to Todd. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Ms. Dupree was just telling me about you.”
Todd’s eyes narrowed slightly on her but let the fingers of his hand unfurl and take her offered hand. He gave it a hard squeeze and was not surprised when she didn’t flinch, only squeezed his hand until a heat too intense forced him to release his grip and snatch his hand away.
“Ms. Talon.” He pushed past tight lips.
“Well, now that you are here, I’m going to go and pick up Isabel’s birthday present. While I’m gone you can show Cyndi around and help her get settled.” Laurie flashed Todd a grin as she made her way around her desk and past them.
Todd silently cursed her knowing that she was trying to set him up. Little did she know what she’d just done.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Todd growled low when Laurie was gone.
Cyndi raised a brow losing some of her smile. “What? That is your greeting to an old friend?”
“Cydelle…” He sighed softly and let his hands run through his blonde locks losing some his anger.
Cyndi took a step forward, their bodies only an inch apart. Her hand lifted and went to touch his face but stopped right before her fingers made contact.
“Ta…”
“Todd.” He interrupted her. “That person no longer exists. He died long ago. Killed by betrayal and grief.” The anger was back, his eyes darkening.
Cyndi slowly pulled her hand back letting it fall to her side and took a step back.
“What are you doing here?” Todd repeated the question.
Her smile faded, replaced with an expression of indifference. “I came to warn you and to offer my help.”
Todd scoffed. “Help me?” He shook his head. “Why would you even think that I would listen to anything you would say? Or even believe you?”
Cyndi kept eye contact with Todd, never once looking down, but she leaned back against Laurie’s desk and crossed her arms over her chest.
“I just thought you would like to know that Khivar is near. He’s coming to claim what he believes is his.” Her voice held no expression.
“And why would Khivar be here on Earth and coming to Roswell of all places?” Todd asked in near amusement as he tried to cover his concern.
She chuckled and shook her head. “The myth of the reborn Royal Four is amok on Antar. It gives them hope.” She uncrossed her arms, her hands bracing on the desktop. “You’ve been here for many years Todd. You don’t know what Antar has become.”
“What concern is that of me? I’m not Antarian.”
She ignored his question. “You have found the Royal Four. You are to protect them. To teach and guide them.”
“I do not know what you mean. The Royal Four is only a tale the Rebels made up to spur Antarians into fighting back against your brother.”
Cyndi pushed off the table and stepped up to Todd. “They are here in Roswell.” Her tone was low and steady. “Khivar is coming for Vilondra and he will kill all that is in his way.”
“Vilondra is no more. Khivar killed her like the rest of them. His trip here is wasted. Just as yours.” He turned and left the office without another glance back. He continued through the club passing David and Galen. “I’ll be back in a little while.” He said in passing. Both men looked up and watched him go, neither questioning him.

Isabel looked in the mirror for the tenth time but her mind wasn’t on the clothes she wore. In fact her mind wasn’t even on how she looked. She kept looking at her dark eyes. They were deep brown framed by thick black lashes. But earlier…when she’d gotten out of the shower, she’d wiped the fog from the mirror and saw a different set looking back at her. They were brighter, nearly gold in color with streaks of darkness in the glow of color.
“Are you ready?” Max walked into her room. He looked around at the clothes thrown on the bed and floor and shook his head.
“Do I look ok?” She asked turning and looking at her brother.
“You look great.” He gave her a smile. “You’ve been to Alien Abyss dozens of times. I don’t know why you’re stressing about your clothes. Alex loves you even if you were in a burlap sack.”
Isabel shrugged and turned back to the mirror, her gaze going to her eyes again. How could she tell him that her worries weren’t on how she looked…not really. How could she tell him about the visions and dreams she’d been having? The ones where two men caress and make love to her body, calling her Vilondra, and claiming that she was theirs alone. She needed to tell her brother that she could feel them coming closer…searching for her but every time she tried the words got stuck in her throat.
Then there was Alex. She loved him with all her heart. When she slept in his arms, he kept the dreams away, kept her grounded. But then there were those feelings she had every time she was close to Laurie. The ones she tried to ignore and deny every time Alex brought up the subject of her being their third. She knew she was in denial but she couldn’t stop it. There was too much emotion.
Now her eyes were changing colors. She felt as if she was being pulled in a hundred directions, each wanting something different from her. All she wanted to be was Isabel Evans…normal teenager who lived in Roswell, New Mexico. But she knew it was a childish dream. She was an alien princess on a planet that would use her body for experimentation before killing her because of what she was.
“Izzy…are you alright?” Max walked up behind her, placed his hands gently on her shoulders and stared into the mirror at her. She knew that look. He was worried about her. He knew she wasn’t sleeping much. When she screamed out at night when the dreams became too much and woke sobbing, he had held her. Rocked her…never asking about what she dreamed knowing they all had their nightmares.
Isabel made her face relax and a smile form on her lips. It was one of her many masks she hid behind.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” Her eyes grazed over his clothes. He wore a pair of khaki pants with a maroon button up shirt. “You look nice. Looking like that I’m sure Kyle won’t be able to stay at the door all night with you inside.”
Max chuckled and shook his head. “I thought Alex would have been here by now.” He said diverting the subject.
“He’s meeting us there. He…” She had noticed for the past two days that he had kept his distance from her. Making excuses as to why he was so busy. “Had some things to do for his parents today.” She tried to keep the disappointment from her voice knowing that he was keeping something from her. Like she was keeping something from him.
Max looked at her for a moment then nodded before turning around and starting out the room followed by Isabel.

Alex walked into the club and looked nervously around. Laurie wasn’t anywhere to be seen and he let out a quick breath. Liz was over by the bar with Kyle putting the food platters out while Mr. and Mrs. Evans were moving some of the chairs and table around.
“You’ve got to tell her.”
Todd’s softly spoken words made Alex jump. He should have known that Todd would know about this. He and Laurie had grown close since her arrival in Roswell and he had this strange ability to know things about them all. More so than Kyle, which was a scary thought in itself.
“Tell who what?” Alex tried to play ignorant.
Todd rolled his eyes and shook his head. He may be much older than them…nearing 80 years old, but he had picked up Earthly expressions and gestures easily.
“It could all blow up if she finds out from someone other than you.”
Alex shook his head. “I don’t know…”
“Give it up Alex. You know what I am. You know what I can do so there’s no use in hiding your feelings for me.”
Alex met Todd’s eyes. “This is none of your business Todd. It is between Isabel and I.” He turned and walked further into the club offering his help to the Evans.

“Are you sure you feel alright?” Amy asked Maria as she watched her daughter looking out the window. “I’m sure Isabel would understand if you’re still not feeling well.”
“I’m fine Mom.” Maria sighed. She had told her mother that she’d gotten a cold that was floating around. Maria sat heavily on the chair. “So…did you and Tess get the inventory situated last night?”
Amy smiled. “Yes. She’s such a great girl and has really helped me with the store.”
Maria nodded looking down at her hands. She, Tess, and Michael were supposed to have gotten together the night before so they could talk but Michael ended up working late and Amy had kept Tess at the store until nearly 11, not giving them the chance of getting together. Then today they only had brief moments together. She’d not yet had another show of power, which she was grateful for, but she still wanted to sit and talk about it with Michael and Tess.
“I’m glad.” She looked up at her mom and gave a small smile. She was glad that her mother liked Tess though she was still iffy with Michael. She knew that her mother was only trying to protect her. Amy had learned the hard way in which a man could hurt a woman so when Michael had shown such an intense interest in her Amy was guarded with him.
A knock sounded on the door before it opened and Max’s head popped in. “You ready to go?”
“Yeah.” Maria smiled. She stood and kissed her mother’s cheek before walking toward the door.
“Hi Max.” Amy said.
“Hello Ms. DeLuca.” Max gave a shy smile that mothers loved.
“You guys have fun and Max…”
“Yes ma’am?” Max stopped from walking out the door after Maria.
Amy gave Max a light smile but he could see the worry in her features. “Be careful.”
“Always.” Max nodded and closed the door behind him.

Todd walked into the club and heard laughter coming from Laurie’s office. His brows drew together when he saw David and Galen over at the bar going over the order sheets. He knew Alex and the others were still at school so he was curious who was with Laurie. He said a friendly hello to the guys and headed to the back.

Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Isabel was quiet on the drive to Maria’s then to the club. She looked out the window but saw none of the passing scenery. Her mind was elsewhere. When Max pulled into the parking lot, she didn’t notice the lack of cars, at least not until they were near the door. There was no line of people neither was Kyle or Galen at their usual post at the door.
“Uh, Max?” She hesitated looking around for the first time.
“It’s ok Iz.” He took her arm and pulled her along.
Maria held the door open and as soon as Max and Isabel walked in, the lights flickered on and voices called out “Surprise!”
Isabel smiled as her family and friends surrounded her. For the moment she forgot about the men in her dreams, the way her eyes had changed, the feelings toward Laurie, and the strange detachment Alex had been showing.
“You are growing up so fast.” Diane embraced her daughter tightly. Isabel could tell that she was trying to hold back the tears.
“Mom.” She hugged her mother back and swallowed the lump in her throat.
Diane pulled away. “I told myself I wouldn’t do this.” She reluctantly let go of her little girl and turned to Philip who wrapped his arm around her waist.
“Happy birthday Sweetheart.” Philip said giving Isabel a kiss on her cheek.
“Thanks Dad.” She smiled and watched him take Diane over to the table of food.
“Ditto.” Max kissed her and gave her a smile.
“Thanks Max.”
“Don’t thank me. It was Alex, Tess, and Laurie who did all of this.” He shrugged his shoulders before turning his eyes to Liz and Kyle.
“Go.” Isabel gave him a shove back. “I know you want to be with them more than me anyway.” She gave a small chuckle.
“Happy birthday.” His voice sounded soft in her ear and echoed in her mind. She closed her eyes when the shiver ran down her spine. She always responded that way toward him. It was like he was a part of her, merging together, one day becoming one soul.
“Alex.” She breathed out. His arm wrapped around her waist and she leaned back against his body, but she could still feel the mental distance he had put between them.
“Come on. Let’s mingle.” His smile coaxed the same from her.
The party was so far a success. The mood was light and everyone was having a good time. The hardest part for the teens was to keep up the appearance of being normal couples. The Evans had no clue that Max was with both Liz and Kyle or about Michael and Maria’s relationship with Tess. But even when Mr. and Mrs. Evans left, they would still have to be cautious, but Tess had already planned for that.
Laurie was there, chatting with Max and Isabel’s parents, but made sure she steered clear of Alex. Todd easily mingled among the group, but he was ever watchful as usual, especially with the new arrival.
Valenti looked on the group amused. He knew from Max’s uncomfortable glances that he was dying to do more than talk with Kyle. He’d seen it too many times in his son not to know that they were resisting the urge to touch one another. He had gotten used to the way his son and Max had a habit of touching one another, even in public, with the slightest brush of a hand on an arm. He watched Tess and saw how she kept herself near Michael since arriving. He had not had the chance to talk with Tess just yet, but wanted to do so later that evening. Valenti eyed Maria and guessed that Michael and Tess had yet to tell her the news. He was sure that Maria was not that good of an actress.
Cyndi knew Todd watched her. She tried to stay to the background but sensed his eyes on her every move, even when he seemed deep in conversation across the room. She didn’t care much for aggravated anger he carried toward her, but she couldn’t blame him. The close contact with him had awakened the bond they once had and felt unprepared for it. What they had years before was not one that bonded them for life, for his species did not mate in such a way. But she was not the same as he. She had been strong and determined, burying it deep inside, never thinking it would return. She had been a fool. Antarians mated for life, there was no escaping once their chosen one was found.
Cyndi watched Todd in return and was surprised as he interacted with the humans around him. He was not like she remembered. She quietly watched as he laughed and teased Kyle, one of Laurie’s employees. Then to see the tenderness he showed as he gave Liz a kiss on top of her head and smiled at her sent a burst of red in her vision. It took her a moment to recover and deny the feeling of jealousy. The man she remembered rarely smiled, and it was even rarer when he laughed in such a way. That man had been serious, somber, and always in control. A warrior. One of great respect and leadership. His character was strong and few dared to rebut him. Yet here he was, living among humans and immersing his life with a group of teenagers.
Yes, she knew about the ones Todd amerced his life with. She had watched and learned much about them before making her presence known. She knew he was protecting the Royal Four. She sensed the fierce protectiveness he had over the group and felt that the Royals were among this group. But teenagers? She never thought they would be so young. Nor had she been able to discern which ones were the Royal Four…until now, her first shot at close proximity.
Kyle and Liz were human…but she could sense something else as well from them. They were different than any human she knew. Power radiated from the two but she knew they were not the Royals. Alex was human as well, but his mind was closed off to her, shielding itself.
As soon as Michael and Tess walked into the club together, Cyndi knew they were like her. They gave off strong vibes of power. She stayed away from them. She was not yet ready to reveal herself to them. They were two of the Four and if her memory severed her, they were Rath and Ava. The General and Queen. She had no intention in initiating first contact with the General. Rath had disliked her at one time and if he carried those memories, he may still carry those feelings.
Laurie was an open book to Cyndi and was easy to manipulate, but only did enough to get in the position she was in. Laurie was human but something a little off, not like Liz and Kyle. She couldn’t put her finger on it. Maybe that’s what drew her here, to Laurie, somehow knowing that she would be the key to lead her to the Royal Four. To warn them. She knew she had little time left. Her brother would find her. Find the one he pursued.
The moment Max and Isabel came through the door, Cyndi knew who they were. There was no mistaking the way they carried themselves with such grace and authority. She was surprised that none had found them before, but then, she knew their enemies were not really looking for teenagers. But just being in the same room as the four she knew, joined together, they would be a force to be reckoned with. Their power was overwhelming.
She hung back and observed, blocking herself from them. Watched as the King went to Kyle and Liz, how Michael stayed near Tess and Maria, and the unease of Isabel. Isabel, the one her brother was after, the one that drove Khivar’s obsession. Even in this life she was elegant and full of grace. Her beauty and demeanor worthy of any royalty. Cyndi could sense weakness from Isabel, a marking of sort. Khivar had found her; he was marking her as his own, putting doubts and uncertainties in her mind. Cyndi was sure Nicholas was probably right on his tail helping.
Cyndi looked to where Todd stood talking to Max. Though he wasn’t looking her direction, she knew he was very aware of her. She had to warn them somehow, had to get him to believe her. She knew there was only one way they could possibly defeat Khivar but she didn’t know if they would believe her, or if Isabel is willing to take the step. Her eyes found Tess, the former Queen. They had once been friends, maybe she could help convince the others.
Isabel tried to keep up her façade of good cheer, but it was quickly waning. There was something wrong, something building, and she had a feeling that it would not end so well.
She leaned against the railing and watched her family and friends smile, having a good time. She was trying, she really was, but she couldn’t stop the foreboding feelings. She closed her eyes for a moment and felt him enter. She could feel him wrapping his arms around her, pulling her against him. She could feel his breath on her neck.
‘Mine.’ He whispered. It was a command mixed with possession.
Isabel felt her heart stop a moment before it sped, the beat thumping hard against her chest. Her body trembled. She tried to tell her brain to shut him out, to push away from him, but she could not. Something deep inside wanted to stay, wanted to truly feel his arms around her, to be possessed by him, to allow him claim over her.
‘Come to us.’ A second voice sounded as she sensed another body pressing to the front of her. His lips went to her neck placing kisses on her skin, his hands stroked up and down her torso. She was trapped between the two as they whispered to her, beckoned her to join them. She wanted to, but she was paralyzed, unable to move, unable to speak. Her brain was being torn in two directions. She tried to remember why she should stay, why she shouldn’t go as they called, but it was a haze. She fought to remember, pushing hard to retrieve the thoughts eluding her.
Isabel suddenly gasped and her knees nearly buckled as the hold on her was released. She was barely able to catch herself before falling to the floor but it was enough to catch the attention of Alex and Laurie. Alex came rushing over, bringing the other’s attention to her.
Isabel was having a hard time catching her breath and she felt as if her lungs were on fire yet her body was cold. Their presence leaving her feeling barren. Alex reached out touching her but pain burst up her arm where his fingers made contact. She flinched away with a small cry.
“Don’t.” Isabel hissed unable to stop the tears falling. She pushed away from the railing and stumbled toward the bathroom. Alex tried to follow but with a flick of the wrist he was pushed back, Todd barely catching him. She didn’t look back as she ran away from him.
Max looked over at his parents and was relieved to find them talking to each other oblivious to what had just happened.
“Thanks Tess.” He said but keeping a watchful eye on them. Tess nodded and eased her mindwarp.
“What the hell happened?” Michael asked. “Why did she do that to Alex?” He’d never seen Isabel in such a state.
“Something isn’t right.” Liz said looking in the direction that Isabel went. She could see the pained expression in Alex and knew that he was in no shape to go after her. “I guess I’ll go.”
“No.” Laurie injected. “I’ll go.” She looked around. “If that’s ok with you guys.”
Everyone exchanged looks at a total loss as to what just happened. Max nodded.
Laurie walked into the bathroom with caution. She’d seen Michael’s powers too many times not to be cautious when her friends were emotional. She closed the door behind her and went to the last stall. She wasn’t sure how, but she knew Isabel would be there.
“Isabel?” She said softly before pushing the door open.
Isabel sat on the toilet, her elbows on her knees, and head cradled in her hands covering her ears. She was rocking back and forth and Laurie saw that she had her eyes squeezed tightly shut.
Carefully Laurie reached out to her friend and touched her shoulder gently trying not to startle her.
“Isabel.”
Isabel looked up, her eyes rimmed red and tears falling down her cheeks. She lowered her hands and clasped them together in her lap.
“What happened? What’s wrong?” Laurie asked.
“I don’t know. It’s…they were in my head. I could feel…” She paused and swallowed hard and closed her eyes. She could still feel them pressed against her cold body and she felt dirty, but something deep inside wanted more. How could she explain this to anyone? How could she look at Alex without feeling as if she was betraying him, their love?
“Who was in your head?” Laurie inquired confused. She still had trouble comprehending the true power Michael and the others held.
Isabel shook her head. “I don’t know.” Her bottom lip quivered then looked down. “I think I’m going crazy. It’s like I know them but…” She couldn’t finish her sentence. She couldn’t confess how she felt drawn to the two that have been tormenting her mind for some time now. How she was starting to crave their touch, their intrusion on her life and mind. Alex had been her anchor, but now she wondered if it was real?
Laurie couldn’t stand seeing Isabel so stricken, her pain etched on her beautiful features. She could almost feel Isabel’s sorrow and confusion. It was so intense that it gave her shivers yet she didn’t question how she could feel it. She was at a loss as to how to help but knew that she had to. She had to help Isabel win whatever battle waging inside of her. So she did the first thing that came to mind. She cradle Isabel’s face in her palms and gently wiped the tears with her thumbs. Laurie took a moment and looked into her deep brown eyes, seeing the confusion and fear in them. It shook Laurie, made her stomach clench and tears gather in her eyes.
Slowly Laurie’s face neared Isabel’s, both holding their breath knowing what was about to happen but unable to stop it. Laurie’s lips were like silk as they softly brushed Isabel’s. She felt sparks inflame her skin and heard Isabel’s sudden intake of breath. Gathering courage Laurie kissed her again, this time letting her lips linger on Isabel’s until she opened herself allowing Laurie in.
Isabel let go, let everything but the feel and smell of Laurie go away. She stopped struggling against the demons within, quit the constant battle she fought day after day and permitted Laurie in and allowed the feelings she suppressed to finally take over. She mirrored Laurie, cradling her face in her hands letting her thumbs smooth over the smoothness of her skin.
Isabel gasped and pulled away like she’d been burned. Her eyes wide, her mouth moving but no sound coming out.
Laurie pulled away looking shock at her actions. Her fingers touched her swollen lips still tasting Isabel.
“You kissed him.” Isabel hissed once she found her voice.
Laurie’s brows drew together in confusion. Her mind felt heavy and hazy like she was under some spell.
“You kissed Alex. And…and he…” Isabel’s trembling hand covered her mouth.
“How did you…? I..” Laurie stuttered not know what to tell her or how to explain what had happened.
Isabel laid her head in her hands a moment before brushing them over her face. “I can’t do this?” she said with conviction.
“And you think I can? You think that it’s a joy for me to be torn like this? To have these feelings for two people…two people who happen to love each other.” Laurie’s voice trembled, on the verge of tears but her frustration keeping them at bay.
Isabel was at a loss for words. She knew that she was fighting her feelings for Laurie. She knew Alex was doing the same though he tried to be open-minded. Her eyes widened briefly with realization. The kiss. That’s why Alex had distanced himself. He didn’t want her to know that he’d had a moment of weakness. That he’d given in and enjoyed it. She knew from the flash she received from Laurie.
“Alex.” Isabel whispered then met Laurie’s eyes, feeling the intense attraction from her despite the confusion and sorrow in her eyes. “What have I been doing? My selfishness and fear is going to be my destruction.”
Before Laurie could respond the walls shuddered and a loud blast sounded. Immediately both were on their feet and heading out.
After Laurie went to the bathroom…
“I think it’s time for the parentals to head home.” Maria whispered to Tess. “Can you handle it?”
Tess looked over at Mr. and Mrs. Evans and nodded. “Yeah.” She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Easily she slipped in and compelled the couple to head home. She implanted the thought that they had already said good-bye to Isabel as they walked over to Max.
The entire group let out a sigh of relief once the door closed behind them.
“One more to deal with.” Kyle said eyeing the new woman who was standing a distance from them.
Tess closed her eyes again and tried to reach in Cyndi’s mind. Sweat beaded on her forehead as pain radiated through her head. She couldn’t get in, no matter what she tried she couldn’t reach the woman’s mind. Tess opened her eyes and Michael had to catch her as her knees buckled. Max was immediately by her side scanning her. Immediately he stopped and met Michael’s eyes.
‘Don’t’ Was all Michael said, his tone low and warning.
Max’s glare was fierce and stepped away. “She’ll be fine.” His voice flat but still he glared at Michael.
Cyndi approached them, her eyes on Tess. Todd moved to get between Cyndi and the others. He knew how to be protective from strangers but he was not quick enough. Cyndi was thrown across the room until she hit the bar.
Maria cried out in pain and collapsed to the floor.
“Maria!” Liz yelled and ran to her but as soon as she touched Maria, she jerked her hand back in pain.
Michael eased himself and Tess down beside Maria and without hesitation reached out and touched her face. There was no pain, just the warmth of her skin.
“What the hell happened?” Alex asked kneeling beside Liz. He wanted to touch his best friend but he wasn’t about to repeat Liz’s pain.
“She was protecting Tess.” Todd said from across the room. He was helping Cyndi up from the floor.
“From what?” Max asked his voice harsh.
“Me.” Cyndi leaned on Todd.
Isabel and Laurie ran out and stood off to the side of their friends. Their eyes were darting back and forth between the two groups.
“What happened?” Isabel looked around then at her brother. “Where are Mom and Dad?”
“Home.” Max stood glancing briefly at his sister before turning his attention to the woman Todd held in his arms. He stepped out in front of the group and felt rather than saw Michael do the same, their bodies between their family and the newcomer. “Why would she need protection?”
“And how do you know?” Michael’s eyes narrowed on Todd, the old distrust of the man coming back.
“I mean no harm.” Cyndi took her full weight again recovering from Maria’s blast.
“Who are you?” Max asked.
Cyndi let out a breath and dropped her mental shields showing herself to them. As with when Tess came to town, the hybrids knew she was like them. Liz and Kyle’s eyes widened feeling the sudden rush of power in the room.
“You are like us.” Isabel breathed.
Cyndi nodded her eyes meeting Isabel’s. “Yes.”
“This is Cyndelle.” Todd said. “She is Khivar’s sister.”

Chapter 39
Chapter 39
Immediately Michael raised his hand and sent a blast toward Cyndelle. However, before it could make contact Todd stepped in front of her and barely deflected the energy ball.
“Don’t.” Todd growled low. It was enough that Maria had blasted her across the room but he was not about to let any more harm come to her. He couldn’t.
“Max, shield!” Kyle demanded just as Isabel raised her hand to aid Michael.
On instinct Max raised a bubble shield that surrounded his entire family leaving Cyndelle, Todd, and Michael unprotected. When his mind finally caught up with what was going on he tried to lower the shield and help Michael.
“No.” Kyle’s voice stopped him. “This has been coming for a while. Let them finally get it out of their systems. Keep the shield up to protect everyone.” He said not knowing how intense it would become. He only knew that there was major testosterone flowing between those two for a long time and as with the times Max and Michael clashed in opinion, it was always better to just let them have it out.
“Max?” Isabel asked uncertain, her hand still up and ready but she knew she couldn’t fire or do anything unless her brother lowered the shield.
Max sighed. “Kyle’s right. From the time Todd and Michael met there has been underlying distrust. I’m surprised they haven’t killed each other yet living together.” He looked to Kyle. “Keep an eye on her.” He motioned to Cyndelle who had backed away from them until her back was against the bar. “Isabel, be ready if things turn bad. And Tess, watch the door. The last thing we need is someone walking in during this.”
Isabel nodded and focused on the two men standing but feet from them all. Tess reluctantly turned and watched the door while Maria held her hand. Liz placed herself in front of where Laurie, Alex, and Valenti stood knowing they were now the only ones without powers to defend themselves.
“You brought the enemy right to us.” Michael accused and threw Todd against the nearest wall with the flick of his wrist. He was there in an instant, his hand around Todd’s neck cutting off the air. “You knew who she is and yet you still allowed her near my family…near my mates.”
The fierceness in Michael made his voice low and deadly, a dangerous combination. The fear for his family along with the anger at this man who has allowed danger to be near them fed his emotions. He had felt suspicious of Todd since the first time he met the other alien. Todd had said that he was sent to protect over them, to ensure their lives, but he had used Kyle to find Max. Todd had allowed the three to be in the hands of the government, nearly destroying Max. Now he brings Khivar’s sister here.
“She’s not your enemy.” Todd hissed, his hands wrapped around Michael’s wrist.
“I should have known you would betray us.” Michael ignored Todd’s statement and tightened his grip. Nesado was supposed to have protected them but he was too busy trying to get Tess pregnant and off Earth along with getting the rest killed.
A burning heat penetrated Michael’s chest and felt his body fly through the air as Todd pushed him away. Michael grunted and watched as Todd slid down the wall, a hand rubbing at his neck. Michael threw a blast but once more Todd deflected it so that it hit a wall that was a safe distance from the others. Michael didn’t give up and immediately threw two more blasts. He had to duck as Todd sent the last one back at him.
“Damn you!” Michael hissed as he stood unsteadily facing Todd. Cyndelle was off to the side but between the distance of the two men. Michael looked over at her with a menacing glare.
“Don’t do it Michael.” Todd warned.
Michael sneered and rushed her. Todd got to her first and pushed her aside as he reached for Michael. He and Michael locked together in physical combat, fists flying at any piece of flesh they could reach. Neither gave an inch, a perfect match for battle. They sparred but each was reflecting the other enough that no serious injuries were being caused.
Cyndelle looked across the room to Max. “You’ve got to stop them before they kill each other.” She practically begged.
Max shook his head. “Not yet.” His eyes turned back to the men as they rolled around on the floor. He wanted so badly to stop them but he knew Michael. He had come to know Todd. They were both dominant men of their own right. They had snarled and growled long enough. He could only hope that Todd knew what he was doing.
As Todd sparred with Michael he was impressed with his skill and strength. Even if Michael didn’t remember his past life Rath was still strong in him. Todd had seen it in everything Michael did. Reluctantly Todd knew of only one way to put a stop to this. He had to show Michael that he’d been trustworthy and loyal. That all he did was for the protection of the Royals. He drew strength from within and shifted it into his fingertips. With a quick brush, he swiped them across Michael’s brow.
‘Remember.’ He directed toward Michael knowing that this is the only way to stop the Commander, his mentor, and once friend.
Michael felt a tingle in his mind, in a deep, dark recess that had never been accessed. It felt like a floodgate of emotions and images unlocked and opened then dumped into Michael’s head. He saw himself standing over many men, all in formal uniforms standing at attention and awaiting his commands. He saw images of himself with Zan leaning over a large table talking strategy… of Vilondra as they walked under the stars speaking of their upcoming marriage before flashing over to the image of Ava riding him, making love in his room, her face filled with pleasure and desire. He heard her words of love whispered in his ear. Michael even saw several images of Todd, looking not much younger than now, training beside him, the two of them laughing and acting as friends. He could feel the admiration and respect that he held for each of them. He considered them friends…family.
Michael loosened his hold on Todd and looked at the other man with wide eyes. “What did you…?” The question never finished as Todd flipped him so that he lay on his back and pinning him to the floor. Michael felt the pain in his body flaring as his adrenaline calmed and felt his blood dripping from his face and wounds on his body. Michael knew Todd was in just as bad shape and it made him pleased at the fact that they were both hurting.
A sharp pain in Michael’s head made him cry out as another rush of images assaulted him. His hands released his hold on Todd and grabbed at his head while his eyes squeezed tightly shut. He didn’t hear Todd telling the others to stay back or his explanation for what was happening. The only thing he could hear was the buzzing in his head as a horrific scene played out. There was no stopping it, no way to ignore it. All Michael could do was relive it.
Rath lifted his head, vision blurry, his head vibrant with pain and blood flowing down his face and into his eyes. He tried concentrating, tried to remember what happened and how he came to be in the throne room. Blinking rapidly, his sight cleared and he couldn’t stop the howl of anguish that came from his throat as he saw Zan lying dead on the floor nearby.
“The great Commander wakes.” A deep voice caught Rath’s attention.
Rath instinctively threw his body toward the voice but finally realized that his wrists were shackled effectively to a post over his head. It was the only thing keeping him standing, as his legs were weak and throbbing with pain. Without glancing down he knew at least one of them were broken. Used to the wounds and ache of fighting he’d learned long ago to block out any discomfort that attacked his body. But he could no longer ignore it as his grief overwhelmed him and his mind remembered the ambush.
“Khivar.” Rath bit out turning his head turning from the sight of his best friend lying on the floor, blood pooling around his body. “I should have known that you would try this.”
“Try?” Khivar’s brow raised amused. He looked over at Zan and smiled wickedly. “I think I succeeded.” He said turning back to Rath. “So easy too.” Khivar made a motion and the doors swung open. Rath watched sickened as Khivar’s goon Nicholas pushed Ava into the room. Her eyes were red from crying and there was a bruise on one of her cheeks. Her hands were bound in front of her. His eyes shifted to the other woman being pushed inside the room, a guard holding each arm as she struggled and shouted for her release. Vilondra… his soon to be bride. Her face was streaked with dirt and tears. Her clothing torn and her hair a disaster. Her eyes widened and her cry of grief made her struggles weaken as she saw her brother dead.
“You promised!” Vilondra screamed at Khivar. “You promised that no one would be hurt.”
“What did you do?” Rath whispered to Vilondra but his eyes were on Ava.
“I’m sorry.” Vilondra fell to her knees and the guards let her go. “This wasn’t supposed to happen.” Her face fell into her hands as she wept.
Khivar chuckled. “Do not worry yourself, my dear. We shall still marry.” He looked to Rath and his face sobered. “Once things are finished here. Then you shall be my Queen as I rule Antar.”
“Vilondra.” Rath called her name to gain her attention. What had she done?
“I’m sorry Rath.” She said again looking up. “I thought I loved him. He promised that he’d find a way to be with me, to marry me. I never thought that…”
Rath closed his eyes and sighed fighting the pain that racked his ribs and chest with every breath he took. He knew that Vilondra didn’t love him. They were friends, grew up together, their marriage arranged, but she knew where his heart lay as he knew that hers was not with him. Their lives were ruled by strict guidelines of society.
Khivar stood in front of Rath and used the tip of his knife to cut a line down his chest, enjoying the sight of the Commander’s blood flow from his body. “I think I will thoroughly enjoy slowly bleeding you until every drop is gone.” He turned and looked to Ava. “It’s a shame that your husband had to die so swiftly, but then… he’s not the one who would hurt most with your death.” He looked to Nicholas and nodded.
Rath watched as Nicholas dragged Ava over to a table and laid her on it, securing her bound wrists over her head.
“Time for some fun.” Khivar laughed as several of his soldiers entered the room and surrounded the table.
Rath struggled and cursed as he tried to break free but his powers were gone, his strength sapped from his body as his blood continued seeping and pooled beneath him. His legs wouldn’t move, and were unable to hold his weight putting more pressure on his burning wrists. He cried out the same as Ava as the first soldier climbed on her and raped her. Over and over he witnessed the act, hearing her screams of pain and shame as the soldiers took her until she bled.
Rath barely registered another scream that tore through the room as Vilondra was on her feet trying to make her way to Ava but Khivar’s men were holding her back. Nicholas was the last to seek his demented pleasure with Ava and as he reached climax, he put pressure on Ava’s neck to choke the life from her.
The moment Ava stopped fighting, her eyes starring blankly up at the ceiling, Rath felt a heat in his chest. A tiny weak cry sounded in his head and he could do nothing to help as the life of his child faded with its mother. Ava was pregnant. No one knew. She’d yet to share the news but in that moment Rath knew it was his. She had carried his child and now it died with the woman who had taken his heart and soul.
Rath’s cry was filled with the greatest sorrow, the sound echoing throughout the palace. Khivar went to Vilondra and took her into his arms as he soothed her cries. She was distraught and seemed unable to struggle against him any longer. Rath watched with hatred as she leaned against their enemy, the man who had killed her brother and her friend. He wanted to curse her, blame her for all of this, but she turned her head and he saw the clarity in her eyes.
Khivar was speaking quietly to her, like a parent soothing a child. With unexpected strength and speed Vilondra push away and ran toward Rath. In her raised hand, she had Khivar’s knife. He raised his head and watched as it was thrust toward his chest. Only his eyes widening showed his reaction to the pain that was added to his body.
“Tis right.” He forced out as Vilondra pulled the knife out of his chest letting his blood rush from his veins. She hit an artery in his heart so that he would die quickly. He watched, his vision darkening as the same blade that punctured his body slid across her neck, their eyes locked, bound together in sorrow and regret.

Chapter 40
How'd you know I had a new part ready Sam?
Chapter 40
Michael blinked rapidly and struggled against the weight pinning his body. He screamed and tried to make out the blur above him. He didn’t hear Todd telling the others to stay back and wait.
“Michael. It’s ok. It’s me…Todd.”
Michael stopped struggling and found that his sight was clearing. “Ava!” He cried out looking around franticly.
“Michael, look at me.” Todd commanded holding Michael’s head in his hands. “It was just a memory.”
Michael looked at Todd and felt the tears on his cheeks. “Memory?” He slowly turned his head and saw that Max still had his shield around their family. Maria was holding Tess in her arms and they were both wide eyed. “Why did you do that?” He asked turning back to Todd who was finally moving off him. “Why now?”
“You had to remember what happened. Remember that Cyndelle had nothing to do with what happened. Remember that we were once friends and trusted me.”
Todd held his hand out to Michael in friendship. Michael took hold of it and let Todd help him sit up. Michael rubbed his temple and looked at Todd.
“Adelfos.”
Todd smiled and nodded. “Yes, my friend.”
Michael sighed and looked over at Max nodding his head letting know that it was safe to let the shield down. As soon as they could Maria and Tess rushed to Michael’s side, both suffocating him with their embraces.
“I’m ok.” He said but didn’t try and push them off, but he did look a little lost with all the attention. He looked to Max for help.
Max laughed. “Alright girls, let me see the damage.” He kneeled down beside them.
“I can do it.” Tess said reaching out her hand to his busted lip but Michael took hold of her wrist stopping her before she could touch him.
“Let Max do it.” His tone was strong with authority, not to be argued with. He didn’t want Tess using more energy than she needed to. Somehow he instinctively knew that her powers would lessen with time, their child taking it as nourishment.
Tess lowered her hand and nodded.
“What about her?” Maria said looking at Cyndelle who was standing not far from Todd.
“It was Cyndelle who warned me the day you died. She came to me when she found what her brother had planned for the Royals. But I was too late. It was I who failed you, my friend.” Todd’s head bowed.
Michael reached out and patted his shoulder. “Don’t take all the blame. We should have seen the signs.”
Todd sighed. “By the time I reached Antar Khivar already had your bodies on display for all to see what happened to those that opposed him. With the help of the few still loyal to Rath and Zan, we were able to steal back your bodies and take them back to Larek.”
“That still doesn’t tell us about her.” Maria glared at Cyndelle. “She’s Khivar’s sister.”
“Yes, but not like him.” Todd glanced back at her. “Cyndelle is the only reason the hybrids are here now. Before Khivar attacked he killed the scientists that had any knowledge of their creation along with all noted works on it. Cyndelle, she gave Larek’s scientists samples of her blood and allowed them to study her so that they could recreate the process.”
Everyone looked to her and she shifted uncomfortable with the sudden attention.
“She’s here once more to warn us.”
“About what?” Max asked.
“Khivar is close. He’s after the one thing that he lost the last time around.”
“What was that?” Liz asked.
Michael and Cyndelle turned to Isabel.
“Me.” She said quietly. Everyone turned and looked at Isabel.
“How do you know?” Tess asked.
Isabel lowered her head in shame. “Because he and…” She paused but didn’t look at her family.
“Nicholas.” Cyndelle provided.
Isabel nodded. “Yes. They’ve been in my dreams, in my head. I feel how close they are. They are coming to claim me for their own.”
“And you didn’t tell us?” Max asked angrily. He knew that his sister was hiding something. He thought possibly having to do with her feelings about Laurie and Alex. He never dreamed that she wouldn’t tell them something this important. He pushed his anger aside for time. He knew something was wrong, and now he chastised himself for not pushing more for answers. But how could he push her when she gave him the same respect about his nightmares?
“I’m sorry. I thought that I could…well…” Isabel shook her head and a tremble could be heard in her voice.
“Handle it yourself?” It was Alex who asked, his arms crossed over his chest. His anger was visible on his face and in his body.
Isabel looked at him and tears gathered in her eyes. She couldn’t answer him. She could feel his hurt but knew that she’d betrayed his trust… all of their trusts by not telling them. She didn’t know why she did it, but at the time it seemed right.
“He’s gotten himself firmly in her head. Formed a connection to your Antarian side.” Cyndelle said stepping forward and looking at Isabel. “He’s gotten some control over some of your thoughts. Making you feel like you could take care of this on your own, not wanting you to involve any of the others. That was how he tricked Vilondra and gained entrance to the Palace. It is one of his strengths. He’s good at causing doubt.”
“How do we know that what she is saying is true?” Maria asked still not trusting her.
“She speaks the truth.” Todd said
“Because it’s the truth.” Kyle said at the same time as Todd.
Maria sighed and rolled her eyes. “Damn empaths.”
“Khivar knows where you are. We can’t change that, but there is a way to stop him from continuing his link to your mind.”
“How?” Alex asked stepping closer to Cyndelle.
“Isabel must bond with both her mates. Only that will break his link.”
Isabel shook her head. “But I don’t…”
“Yes you do.” Cyndelle insisted looking over Isabel’s shoulder to Laurie who’d been quiet this entire time.
Isabel slowly turned and looked at her. “No, I…” She looked back at Cyndelle. “It’s not possible.”
“Pure Antarians can sleep with many people but can only have one mate. Hybrids are different. We bond in threes. There is no other way. Why do you think that Nicholas has attached himself to you?”
“But…”
“Isabel.” Alex’s voice was soft and soothing to her ear. His anger had lessened as he tried to understand what had been happening to her. “You know she’s right. You’ve known all along but you’ve been fighting it. He’s been feeding on your fear of the joining.” He moved so that he could take her hands in his. “I love you Isabel. I love you for who you are… what you are. You and I have already started this and I feel your attraction to Laurie just as you feel mine. Please. Let us help save you. Save all of us.”
Isabel looked at Alex, fear radiating through every nerve. Her first impulse was to tear her hands away from him, to deny what he said, but she knew… deep down, she knew it was all true. It was ok for Max and Michael to have two lovers. But she had been scared to even think of the possibility. She wanted to be selfish and not share Alex. She wanted to be ‘normal’. She’d seen the problems that her family had come across with their threesomes. In society, she knew they would never truly be free of judgment even if they ever moved away from Roswell, away from people who knew them, there would always be people around to criticize them for the loves they’ve chosen.
“How can you be so certain that it will work?” She turned and looked at Cyndelle. She wanted so badly to trust this woman.
“I am the same as you. The only way we can reproduce, to feel complete, is to be bonded fully to both of your mates.”
Isabel turned to Laurie and studied her ashen face. She was standing behind the group, arms crossed over her chest protectively. Her blue eyes were wide with fear and still she’d not ran from the building screaming. She knew who they all were. She had already accepted her place among this misfit family.
“I don’t know what to do.” Laurie said softly, suddenly looking like a lost little girl.
Michael, who Max had finished healing the worst of his cuts and bruises, went to his sister and wrapped an arm around her. “This is your decision Laurie. I’m sure we will understand if you don’t think you can do this.”
“But she’s right.” Laurie turned in Michael’s arms and met his eyes. “I feel the attraction to both Alex and Isabel. I’ve tried hard to fight it. To tell myself that it was wrong, but still I…” She turned her head and looked at the two lovers still holding hands. “Isabel?”
Isabel sighed. “I was the one who brought this trouble to us. He knows where we are and it looks as if I’m the only one to stop him from manipulating me further. I just ask for some time.” She looked around at her family. “Time alone with Laurie and Alex. I don’t think I can do this under everyone’s watchful eye. Can I ask that?”
“We will make sure that the three of you can spend tonight and tomorrow together.” Michael said looking over at Max who nodded. They both knew that they would have to somehow manipulate the Evans and make sure they left Isabel alone to work it all out. They had each had their own difficulty coming to terms with the strangeness of their relationships. Isabel was due the same respect.
“How is it you know about this?” Max asked Cyndelle quietly.
She gave him a sad smile. “Personal experience.” Her hand reached out and took Todd’s. “One of my bonded mates died leaving me devastated.”
“And the other?”
“He may never forgive me for nearly killing him with my leaving.” She said softly, the sadness tearing into his heart.
“What’s the Earth saying… Time heals all wounds.” Todd said looking into her eyes. “I’m sure that after all this time things could be worked out.”
“Ok, so that’s settled, but that still doesn’t answer why Maria has powers and is protecting Tess.” Liz asked.
Max, Michael, and Tess stiffened at her inquiry.
“A baby.” Maria murmured, a smile slowly forming on her lips.
“What?” Several voices sounded in unison.
“Tess is pregnant with our child.” Maria looked around, her happiness finding light in the unsure future that was to come.
“How did you know?” Tess asked.
“When I was holding your hand while Michael was fighting. I was trying so hard to hold back my fear that I felt a tingling in my hand and suddenly I knew. It was like this image popped in my head and I could feel a heartbeat in my body. I knew it wasn’t mine because it was pounding too fast.”
“So Maria gained powers because Tess is pregnant? I don’t get it.” Kyle said. “Isn’t Tess and Michael enough to protect the child?”
“Remember Kyle that this is a unit of three.” Todd tried to explain knowing the answers they sought. He’d talked extensively to the scientists that created the four. “It took all three to make the child and Tess will weaken in her powers as her pregnancy goes through its cycle. It will be Maria who will provide what she looses.”
“Will she keep the ability?” Alex asked.
“She is human, but then we didn’t know that Liz and Kyle would develop abilities from Max healing them. So we will have to wait and see.” He answered them truthfully.
Michael had released Laurie and now stood behind Tess, his arms wrapped protectively around her body, his hands resting on her stomach.
“Todd opened my memories of Rath. Ava was pregnant when Nicholas killed her.” He looked to Max whose eyes were wide. “But it was Rath’s child, not Zan’s.”
“So, since she was carrying a child when they used her DNA, maybe that’s the reason that she is pregnant now, despite the protection and careful timing of…well, you know.” Liz theorized but her cheeks were flushed. She still had a hard time speaking of sex in front of the others, despite the wild and erotic images that her boys always seem to keep throwing into her mind.
“Could be.” Todd shrugged.
Max ran his hand through his hair. So much had happened in such a short period. It seemed to be the theme of his life the past two years…of all their lives. He looked around to the people who were his family.
“I’m sorry this couldn’t have been a better birthday Isabel.” He apologized to his sister.
“Yeah, well, what fun is it if life was easy?” She tried to shrug it off. Since Max healing Liz their lives have been anything but boring.
Max shook his head, his hand rubbing his neck. “Well, as much as I’d like to stay and party, I’ve got to go home and do some problem control with the parentals.”
“I think you should all call it a night.” Valenti, the silent observer finally spoke up.
“I’m staying at Maria’s tonight.” Tess told Valenti who nodded.
“I’ll take them home.” Michael said. Valenti eyed him but nodded knowing that the three needed to talk. Amy was due back in town the next morning. Both men knew that they would have to confront her but neither wanted to think on it just yet.
Liz looked to Kyle. “I really don’t want to stay at home alone tonight.” She said quietly. Her parents were at the same business owner conference as Maria’s.
Kyle looked to his father. “Dad?” He knew there were rules and the last thing he wanted to do was get into trouble.
Valenti sighed and shook his head. “I can’t believe that I’m doing this but after what we found out tonight…I’d prefer none of you to be unprotected. So yes, Kyle stay with Liz but be back home before her parents get back. The last thing I need is a phone call from Jeff.”
“Thanks Sheriff.” Liz said giving him a smile.
“I’ll take Cydelle to our apartment to stay.” Todd said as he led her out of the club.
Valenti looked at Isabel, Laurie, and Alex. “And you three?”
“We’ll go up to the apartment upstairs and try to work this all out.” Laurie said quietly. It was all still so unreal to her.
“All of you need to make sure that you are careful. Try to travel in groups. Max, want me to follow you and make sure all is ok?”
Max looked longingly at Liz and Kyle. He wanted to stay with them, but like he said earlier, he had to cover for Isabel. Slowly he nodded. “Thanks.”

“Thanks.”
