Isabel

For a moment I wondered whether I had heard him correctly...Unbelievably seductive...'ME??????'

He'd totally knocked my socks off with that comment,my composure,always so in place left me,I didn't know what to do,I just kept looking at him and heard myself ask,"In what way did you mean it then?"

I swallow.

"Oh come on Whitman! Don't be a shy boy now! You've spent the last 24 hours out of your shell and now your ruining it!" A voice in my head told me.

"SoWeCameToSeeSomeOranges. WhatDoWeNow?" I say the words tripping over each other as they came out of my nice.

"Smooth" the voice told me mockingly.

Oh great. And now she mad at me. Just brilliant.

I opened my mouth to speak but I take a look at her to see her glaring determinedly at me.

There's no way I can tell her exactly what I meant right now.

"Maybe we should go back to the others" I said quietly looking at my feet.

I turn around and start to walk away.

"Fine!!!" I shouted back at him after he started walking away.

"You go on ahead,I'll come after I go see the care-taker and his wife and take a look around the grove."

I turned and walked of in the direction of the cottage,I was so angry that I savagely kicked a stone out of my way and kept muttering under my breath..."Such damn cowards when it comes to expressing their feeling.Just once I'd like to meet one who is up-front."

I wanted to shout back...but I couldn't. I just couldn't. I walked around a corner to out of sight and sat down. Oh god. How did that all go so horribly wrong. How did I lose her like that. I took some deep breaths before heading back towards Maria and Michael.

I sat a little bit away from them, I expect they still want privacy.

I saw Alex coming...god he looked awful. "I'll be back" I tell Michael.
I walk over to him.
"Alex? Sweety? What's wrong?"

I look at her. "I've just screwed everything up with Isabel." I tell her. I explain what happened.
She's just gaping at me.

"You idiot."

"Huh? What did I do!" I demanded.

"You've got to tell her how you feel! Just tell her! I know she likes you too!"

I look at her. She's right.

I run away from Maria as fast as my legs will carry me.

I walked up to the care-taker's cottage and knocked on the door,it was opened by his wife who looked at me questioninly...

"Hello,my name is Isabel.I don't know if you remember me,I came here 6 years ago with my Uncle,Jim Valenti."

Care-taker's Wife

"Oh yes,of course my dear,do come in."

Isabel

"Oh that's very kind of you" I said "but actually I don't have much time and I was wondering if it would be okay if I took a walk around the grove?"

Care-taker's Wife

"Yes of course go ahead.I'm sure my husband won't mind.Do come again sometime,we hardly get any visitors."

Isabel

"I will definitely do that" I promise her "and I will bring my cousins too.Buh bye!"

I walked off towards the grove.

I round the corner to see Isabel in the grove. "ISABEL!" I shout. She looks at me in alarm, but when she sees me I can see her getting angry at me. No...not this time.

I quickly rush to her. She looks like she's about to shout at me again so I cut her off quickly, determined to say what I wanted to say before i lost my nerve.

"What I said before. I meant it exactly as it sounded...because you are seductive. Your beautiful, your charming, your perfect and I...I like you.

She is just looking at me, staring.

"Right...well...I think I should go now." I said turning around and starting to walk away again.

I stopped in my tracks. Did she really just say that? I stood there not sure if I had imagined it or not.
I look at my feet as I slowly turn around towards her. I don't dare to look up or to move any closer to her.
