When the heck IS Max's birthday anyway? The Roscanon thread
Moderators: ISLANDGIRL5, Forum Moderators
So I was watching season 1 with my boyfriend, who is an absolute music geek. He pointed out the posters in Max and Isabel's rooms. So I figure we could start a list of the canon music that they like.
Max: Counting Crows (duh), Sunny Day Real Estate
Isabel: Sebadoh
Michael: Metallica
Liz: Sheryl Crow to an extent I guess
Maria: Christina Aguilera? Alanis Morrissette probably (she said she considered herself more of an Alanis than a Celine)
And that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Anything else to add? Who did that song that Max and Liz listened to in Blood Brother?

Also, there IS a discrepancy with Alex's birthday. In Heat Wave, which was in December, no? he said that he was sixteen. According to his headstone, he would have been fifteen and a half.
One more thing. So Liz is obviously Christian of some sort. But did I spy a star of David in her room? Is that just a reference to Shiri being Jewish? Or do you think one parent is Christian and one Jewish?

The blood brother song is "You Make Me Feel", by Jeremy Toback. According to the one roswell music guide I could find that actually explained where in each episode the songs appeared.elodie wrote:So I was watching season 1 with my boyfriend, who is an absolute music geek. that site is here by the way. Might be a lot of other good finds there.

Another artist that Maria has said she saw as an influence in her own singing was PJ Harvey. That was in ch-ch-changes.
Also, in respect to your other post - is there any other reason Liz is 'obviously' christian beside her line about having been to church, in Graduation??

Well, in A Roswell Christmas Carol she seems to be fairly into Christmas. Ok, so maybe it's not obvious and I just assumed. I'll have to rewatch that episode. Also, neither of her parents look particularly Jewish, although I know a Jewish girl with blond hair and freckles so that means nothing!Chrisken wrote: Also, in respect to your other post - is there any other reason Liz is 'obviously' christian beside her line about having been to church, in Graduation??

Yeah, that makes sense. The midnight service in particular does seem pretty christian.elodie wrote:Well, in A Roswell Christmas Carol she seems to be fairly into Christmas. Hmm... now I'm trying to figure out if Claudia seemed at all like 'a Jewish grandmother'

Ok I just thought I'd stop by to state.... Jews and Christians aren't mutually exlusive. I know several Jewish Christians and any Christian who knows their Bible well enough will tell you that they are a follower of the Jewish Messiah... a prostilite to the ultimate expression of the Jewish religion.
Of course much of the Christian Church has comprimised and blended itself with Roman Paganism, and most Jews will adomantly claim the Christ was a false Messiah.
But Christ was of the Davidic line so it would not be unheard of for a Christian to display a Star of David.

Ok we all know that drinking alcohol has sever effects on the four aliens, but here's my question.
What about food that's cooked using alcohol and than they eat it? Say something soaked in wine before cooking or something like that?
Will the cooking somehow prevent that? Just wanted to see what you all thought about it?

I don't think it would have any effect at all if it were cooked. It doesn't take much heat for alcohol to evaporate. The flavor would remain but no alcohol, so the aliens would be fine.
If the alcohol is in something NOT cooked, like jello, then they would be affected.
Of course, if they know it's there, they can use their ability to manipulate molecules to remove the alcohol first.

In A Roswell Christmas Carol, Michael has a Staind poster by his door. You can see it when Isabel leaves his apartment after dropping off her gifts. Also, in Surprise, Liz borrows the Run, Lola, Run Soundtrack from Whittaker.elodie wrote:So I was watching season 1 with my boyfriend, who is an absolute music geek. Also, on the alcohol, when it's cooked, it tends to evaporate, so it most likely would not effect the aliens. It's kind of like if say someone were allergic to raw tomatoes. Uncooked, the tomatoes cause swelling and itchiness in the throat and mouth. Cooked, the tomatoes have no effect because whatever's in the tomato that causes the allergy has evaporated. (Apologies if that didn't make much sense.)
