Kyle's question makes me cringe. I did ask if other people wanted to come with me and Tess. Initially the trip had been meant for her and me to have some serious alone time. Go on a real date and see how it went. Of course, it wouldn't really be alone. We'd have some guy or girl with a camera on her shoulder following us, but it would be as close as we could get.

Inviting others on our trip to the keys seemed like a good plan. Something to distract the camera so maybe we could avoid getting our entire day on film. But just one other person? Everyone-else indicated that they'd rather stay home. It wasn't going to be much of a date with just Kyle around. We wouldn't be able to ditch him, like we could if there were two or more ... Besides, didn't he say he didn't want to spend the day with us because of his date with Isabel? Well, if he does bring the van or something so he can get home earlier, then maybe the initial plan of some alone time will still work. Of course, Alex and Maria and Liz and I would still have to figure out that date and how it affects our Alex/Isabel plot...

The thing is, after tonight, I'm starting to seriously wonder about Liz. Could it be that I've been wrong all this time? That maybe she could like me for something more than a friend? Right now we're just friends, I know that. But from what Kels says, it's possible that it could be more. She's the one I've wanted most from the begining... I was so sure that she didn't like me that way.

Before I answer him, however, Liz speaks up, asking what we're doing. My eyes light up. I'd forgotten that she and Maria were in the restroom when we were discussing it. Maybe we can make this a bigger group than three...

"Oh, Tess and I were going to drive down to the Keys -- hopefully all the way to Key West. We're going to pack a picnic and make a nice day of it. Kyle said he wanted to come with us. Would you and Maria be interested in coming along, too?"


*Michael*

Grinning, I don't so much as lead Isabel to the dance floor as I'm racing her there. I can't wait to start the real party. The song is fast paced and we jump into it right away. "Now we can really get the party started," I tell her.

“Oh, Tess and I were going to drive down to the Keys -- hopefully all the way to Key West. We're going to pack a picnic and make a nice day of it. Kyle said he wanted to come with us. Would you and Maria be interested in coming along, too?”

“Oh, umm,” I say stammering. The invitation was nice of him, but I don’t think spending the day watching him and Tess together is not quite how I was planning on spending my weekend, especially when I have the opportunity to avoid it and spend it with Izzy, Alex, Maria, or even Michael. I don’t even know why Kyle chose to go with them. And as amazing I’m sure it would all look, especially at sunset, if they choose to stay that long, I don’t wish to subject myself to that. I am not that much of a masochist.

“Thank you, for the invitation,” I finally reply. “I cannot speak for Maria, but I will have to decline.” I tuck my hair behind my ear and turn to take a glance back at Alex. “I think I shall stay at the house and spend some time with Alex and Izzy.”

KYLE

I frown when Liz declines. Am I now the only one with the two love birds? Oh no!

"You know what," I say, "when no one else is coming, then I won't come along either, I would only be the fifth wheel anyway and I can sure that I can keep myself busy here too."

*Max*

I'm disappointed as Liz declines. After this evening's events, I'm slightly less interested in spending a romantic day alone with Tess. She's a wonderful girl and I'm happy to be with her, but my thoughts keep drifting back to the pretty brunette in the house.

Still, I'm sure Tess and I can have a nice time on our trip. Neither of us have been to Florida before so the Keys should be fun to discover. With the cameraman behind us, I don't know how much we could expect, anyway...

"Okay. If that's what you want," I say.

"You know what," Kyle says, "when no one else is coming, then I won't come along either, I would only be the fifth wheel anyway and I can sure that I can keep myself busy here too."

"I guess," I say to Kyle as we walk towards our cars. "But I don't know that you'll be alone. Maria? Would you like to join us?"

MARIA

“Well, its no secret that I’ve been acting like a jerk lately.” I say, “and I’ve been pretty mean to Michael and I just wanted to make it up to him and maybe get the chance to go on another few dates. But I‘ve blown it now.”

Before Alex can reply, Max asks,

“Maria? Would you like to join us?"

I’m slightly puzzled at Max’s question before I remember the trip some of the group are meant to be taking tomorrow.

Shaking my head, I smile. “I think I’ll give it a miss. I was planning on working on my music tomorrow.”

ALEX

Looks like most of us will be staying in the house tomorrow or at least somewhere else than the Keys. I'm not sure if Max looks happy or sad that he and Tess are going to be only ones out there … hard to tell in the dark.

"C'mon," I whisper to Maria, "Michael hasn't been a complete angel either so far, so I am sure you haven't blown it off yet. Michael would be a fool to turn you down." A bigger fool than he already seems to be I think to myself.


"And what music will you work on? The musician in me just has to know." I say, trying to change the subject since the distance between Maria, me and the others got a lot smaller.

KYLE

"Looks like it will be just the two of you." I comment after Alex started talking with Maria again. "Try to behave!"

Hm, what am I gonna do tomorrow? Getting ready for my big date, making sure that Michael doesn't bother me or Isabel too much, relaxing, watching some sports, eating and lots of sleeping. Sounds like a good day.

*Max*

"Yeah, just the two of us and a cameraman for a chaperone," I say with a grin. I mean it as a joke, but it is true. As much as we've gotten used to our constant shadows, it'll be a lot more obvious when we're out there alone. Funny thing is, I'm no longer all that uncomfortable with it.

I glance at Liz, wondering if any of the sights that Tess and I will be seeing on the way down will come anywhere close to the beauty I see there. I hope she has a good time there at the house.

Then Maria and Alex start talking about music. "Maybe you two and Liz can work on that musical group that you talked about on Sunday," I suggest. "You guys sounded great together," I remember.

ALEX

I think about Max's suggestion for a moment, noticing that we already are next to the cars, "As long as you promise to be our #1 groupie and we can all agree on a name and what kind of music we like ... who knows."

It's been years since I last played in a band, must have been in my junior high school year. And that was only a garage band without any concerts or fans. But here ... we already are on tv after all, who knows what might happen?

"You girls liking the name 'The Whits'?" I ask with a laugh, remembering how I forced the other guys from my high school band to use that name. God, I hope this time, it will be a better name.

MARIA

I laugh at Alex’s suggestion for the band’s name. “Just an "s" away from what…”

Alex raises an eyebrow, “Do you really want to finish that sentence, Deluca?”

I laugh again, “Maybe not.”

Brushing my hair out my face, I can’t stop my thoughts turning to Michael and Isabel. I wonder what they are doing now. A bolt of jealousy hits me and I try and push it away before it can take over. Its stupid to be jealous of Isabel. Chances of her being interested in Michael are very thin and even if she was, I’m a fighter. I nearly forgot that.
